Teen newcomer Austin Mahone has locked in an opening slot on Taylor Swift's massive and highly anticipated RED Tour. He will appear on at least six dates of the country star's 2013 trek.
The YouTube sensation, whose current hit "Say Somethin" is climbing up the charts, got his start by posting covers of pop songs online. Some 90 million views and 500,000 YouTube subscribers later, Mahone is now signed to a major label deal through Chase Records and Universal Republic, and recently sold out New York's Best Buy Theater and LA’s Palladium Theater. His strong and growing fanbase, known as “Mahomies,” have boosted his success by consistently supporting Mahone through social media (he has attracted over 1.4 million Facebook fans and 1.2 million Twitter followers).
Mahone’s momention has made the press take notice as well. The Wall Street Journal hailed Mahone as one of the “five leading contenders to be the next Bieber.” While The Hollywood Reporter was the first major outlet to feature the Texas native. The long-form piece called “The Making of Baby Bieber” is currently up for a National Entertainment Journalism Award.
Mahone himself seems ecstatic with the news, exclaiming, “I still can't believe I’m opening for Taylor! I’m so appreciative and excited for this opportunity. Getting to play in stadiums, and it’s with one of the biggest artists in the world! I can't wait!”
His dates on the tour begin on May 4. More information can be found on the official Austin Mahone Facebook page.

James Franco enthusiastically denied a rumored romance between him and his "Spring Breakers" co-star Ashley Benson in a blog post for Huffington Post Entertainment in October. "I also hear that I’ve been dating Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart and Ashley Benson. Hot damn, am I a lucky guy," Franco wrote on Oct. 24, debunking rumors that linked him to the three actresses. "As for Gomez and Benson, those are Bieber’s girls and I wouldn’t dare tangle with the Biebs. I heard he wants to kick my ass. Yikes!"
But some people are just not letting go of the idea. The New York Post reports that Franco, 34, and Benson, 22, were looking very much like more than just friends when they attended a screening of the new James Bond flick, "Skyfall," in Hollywood late last week.
"They tried to stay incognito catching a late show together. But both James and Ashley fell asleep. They were woken up by theater staff at the end of the movie," a source for the publication said. Let's hope that the pair's Harmony Korine-directed comedy doesn't elicit a similarly snoozy reaction.
In his most recent HuffPo entry, James writes
Hmmmm, what else? My first chapbook came out, Strongest of the Litter, but people seem to be more interested in who I'm dating than poetry. Oh yeah, I got nominated for a National Entertainment Journalism award for these HuffPost blogs, but no other outlet is going to run that story, right? Hahaha -- why would Gawker or the New York Post want to publicize that an actor/Yale doctoral candidate is nominated for an award for something that they are doing themselves? I'm pretty proud of it, but I can see why they must hate me.

The boyband dropped by NBC's morning show to confirm that their much-rumored 3D concert film will debut in August 2013 as well as appear in what Matt Lauer billed as Today's "biggest concert event".
Today weatherman Al Roker also claimed on air that One Direction's three-song set including 'What Makes Your Beautiful' in Rockefeller Plaza in front of thousands of fans was a historical moment for the series.
"We have never, ever had a crowd this big. This one breaks all the records," Roker declared.
One Direction also taped further songs to air on Today on Wednesday November 14.
Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson's appearance on Today was dubbed "The British Invasion" by the show's hosts and the group even performed in front of UK-style red telephone boxes.
It was reported earlier this week that One Direction have been asked to perform for US President Barack Obama and the First Family at the White House.

The second installation of Nicki Minaj's three-part E! special "My Truth" picks up on the set of her video shoot for "The Boys," but as the show progresses, the YMCMB rapper addresses the fallout from her "American Idol" feud with Mariah Carey, and specifically Barbara Walter's involvement in the beef.
When Nick first finds out that footage of the blowout has leaked, she explains to Mack Maine that the cameras did not capture the moments leading up to that, "20 minutes before that happened, she egged me on and I walked off — I stormed off the stage because didn't wanna do that," she told the Young Money president. "So I left and when I came back it was another jab."
"She's admitted that she did not want another female doing the show, thinking somebody's coming to steal her shine," Nick added. "And nitpicking, nitpicking, nitpicking — I don't do well with that passive aggress shit. I'm not gonna allow it no more. I can't. I work and keep it moving, I don't even f--- with the people in this business."
Later, the subject comes up again during a private flight, after an episode of "The View" which found co-host Barbara Walters reporting that Carey had increased her security after Minaj threatened her life, calling the rapper "unpredictable." Nicki was unable to contain her disappointment with Walters for quickly taking sides.
"I really felt good when I left yesterday and then I hear that Mariah went to Barbara Walters with some more fabrication that even the producers told her was never said," she explained. "Telling Barbara I said something about a gun, which everybody knows that I'm way smarter than that. Literally my jaw was just hanging open and I was in shock. I've never in my life said anything regarding a gun."

NBC’s Smash has called upon a real “Broadway Baby” — legendary entertainer Liza Minnelli — to guest-star on Season 2.
In a midseason episode titled “The Surprise Party,” Minnelli will appear as herself, to sing an original duet with Christian Borle‘s Tom, New York Magazine’s Vulture column reports.
In touting the casting, NBC boss Robert Greenblatt said, “I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special Liza With a Z at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold.”
Smash kicks off its sophomore run on Feb. 5 in a new time slot — Tuesdays at 10/9c — after Parenthood has wrapped its run. Other guest stars/recurring players on tap for the musical drama’s encore include Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Jesse L. Martin (Law & Order) and Sean Hayes (Will & Grace).
Abraham Lincoln: president ... and wrestler?
BY ZACH LINDER
Can you imagine Abraham Lincoln in WWE? Picture it: Honest Abe, stovepipe hat and all, storming the ring with a World Championship over his shoulder, pyrotechnics blazing, ready to lay the smackdown on any WWE Superstar. OK, it might not have happened quite like that, but it has long been rumored that America’s very own 16th president was one of the finest professional wrestlers of his day. Noted wrestling historian Mike Chapman once told WWE of Lincoln’s wrestling exploits.
But was it myth? Folklore? Or did the man who united the nation also unite his fists with opponents’ jaws?
“It’s not mythology,” Lincoln expert Ronald C. White Jr. told WWE Classics. “Lincoln definitely wrestled.”

Yesterday Peter Jackson and team unveiled Neil Finn's song from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Today, we have the full soundtrack for your listening pleasure, and it's embedded below. Listen, enjoy and get a taste of what we're in for come December 13 when the film hits screens.
Howard Shore is the composer here, building on his own work from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. You'll hear very specific echoes of elements from that work throughout the whole album, giving this a clear link to our first adventures in Middle-earth, but there are new themes here for the new characters too.
Unfortunately, because of copyright concerns, the widget doesn't allow you to skip from track to track, but you can listen to the full thing here, which we think is worth that slight inconvenience.
This soundtrack will be available to buy on December 10 in a regular and deluxe edition from all good retailers both physical and digital, and you can pre-order it at the link above. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey of course hits cinemas on December 13, and you can read all about it in the current issue of Empire, either in all good newsagents or on the iPad edition or US iPad edition.

“The book I most want to do right now, because I’m the closest being ready to do it, is The Fault in Our Stars,” Godfrey told us. “It is the best book, it makes you rip your guts out, it makes you want to go out and live a better life. I love it, I can’t wait to make it.”

Green spoke about bringing the book to theaters in September, noting that the book’s sales numbers ignited interest in Hollywood. The story focuses on Hazel and Augustus, two cancer patients attending the same support group. While cancer is a topic of the book, the book is so much more and has received critical acclaim upon its release.

I feel like the only person who hasn't read this yet. And I read 70 YA books a year. What is my life?
Josh Hutcherson is already a household name thanks to his roles in two huge franchises: Journey [to the Center of the Earth and to the Mysterious Island] as well as the Hunger Games. Of course, most people know him as Peeta Mellark from Hunger Games, but will that help him gain another huge franchise: Star Wars?
Clevver TV has a new video up fancasting Hutcherson as Luke Skywalker in the next movie, which will be released in 2015. Of course, we know next to nothing about the story at this point, except that it will take place after the sixth movie and will be featuring a completely original movie. If they are indeed keeping the same characters from the original trilogy, and it’s soon after Episode 7, they’ll have to cast actors approximately the same age to what the actors were at the time of ‘Return of the Jedi’. That shouldn’t prove to be too difficult, but the problem with Hutcherson is that he is still much too young to play Luke Skywalker after ‘Return of the Jedi’.
Right now, Hutcherson is 20 years old – in 2015, he will be 23. This is still much younger than what Hamill was when he played Luke in Episode 6. It would be fine if Hutcherson looked older, but he still looks his age [which incidentally, is not a problem his co-star Jennifer Lawrence has since she plays a 16 year old in the Hunger Games and then plays a late 20s widow in Silver Linings Playbook].
Overall, if Hutcherson were to be cast as Luke, they would have to do some serious explaining to why Luke de-aged between the sixth and seventh movie. Or they could just not explain it – after all, Hutcherson is a huge draw at this point thanks to his rising popularity. It wouldn’t be out of the question that they cast him and ignore the age problems. It wouldn’t be the first time Hollywood did it.

Santa Claus can look forward to receiving something special himself this Christmas – six handcrafted letters from Angelina Jolie and her children from the heart of rural Kent, England.
Jolie and all six of her children – Maddox, 11, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 6, and 4-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – made a special visit to the village of Littlebourne in Kent to send Santa their Christmas letters on Friday. And locals were thrilled to catch a glimpse of the famous family.
"It was so cute. All the children sent messages to Father Christmas and were absolutely beautifully behaved," Littlebourne post office assistant Fiona Lindsay tells PEOPLE. "Just like any other kids in a sweet shop they were excited, but Angelina controlled them perfectly."
"It was lovely," she adds. "They were all very polite. They were just a bunch of gorgeous, happy kids."

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the more beloved young actresses in Hollywood for a couple of reasons: (a) She's extremely talented, as evidenced not only by her work in "Winter's Bone" and "The Hunger Games," but also the upcoming release "Silver Linings Playbook," which has her at the front of the Best Actress race, and (b) she's a straight shooter.
During an outstanding interview with Melena Ryzik for the New York Times, Lawrence revealed that one of the perks of earning a Best Actress nomination for "Winter's Bone" was the personalized candy.
“That literally was probably the coolest thing that I saw,” she said about M&M's that had her picture emblazoned on the hard candy shells. “I was like: ‘You know what? It’s all worth it’ after I saw those M&M’s.”
This is hardly the first time Lawrence has displayed that now-signature self-deprecation. In an interview with HuffPost Entertainment sister site Moviefone earlier this year, the "Hunger Games" star joked about her running style.
"I'm a weird runner. So, that was unfortunate," Lawrence said about "The Hunger Games" and its physical shoot. "That's what I'm most nervous about in this whole ordeal. I'm most nervous about everybody making fun of the way I run. I do, like, karate hands. Instead of running with my hands closed together like a normal person, it's like I'm trying to be aerodynamic or something, so my hands are straight like razors. Karate hands."
As mentioned, Lawrence gives one of the year's best lead actress performances in "Silver Linings Playbook," playing a mentally unstable widow who slowly falls for Bradley Cooper's equally unstable former teacher. What would happen if Lawrence earned a nomination again? More M&M's?
“I want a pizza with my face on it," she told Ryzik.
For more gems from Lawrence, read the profile of her over at the New York Times website.

Dourdan, who played analyst Warrick Brown on the original series for 8 years, filed for Chapter 11 at the end of August according to TMZ.
Reports claims that the 45-year-old has slightly more than $1.8 million in assets, but has debts of $1,689,704 million.
Dourdan, who was voted sexiest CSI Actor by TV Guide in 2008, owes the majority of the money to various banks, including Union Bank, which apparently holds the mortgage on his home that may be in default. The troubled actor has been embroiled in a lawsuit against Union Bank, which he claims denied him mortgage assistance as required under California law, for a year.
His remaining assets are listed as including $200 cash, $3,000 in a bank account, $4,000 in furniture, $200 worth of books, $1,500 in clothes, $500 in watches, and a 2006 Dodge Charger worth approximately $7,000.
In addition, Dourdan said his disposable income is only $321 a month, with his bills (averaging $14,562 a month) claiming most of the $14,883 the actor earns monthly.
But Dourdan says he anticipates 'major acting roles' in the future, which could be used to pay off his debt.

Harry Styles and Niall Horan have created fake twitter profiles so they can see what their fans say about them.
The One Direction stars - who are joined in the band by Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne - like to do research about what people think about them by creating pseudonyms on the social networking site and asking fans questions who have no idea they are talking to the singers.
A source said: "Harry and Niall like to get personal with the fans, but it's hard to talk one-on-one with them without being cyber-mobbed. So in the last few months they've started using pseudonyms to befriend their fans on twitter. They have no idea the strangers they're talking to are actually their idols."
"The boys change their names every few weeks to prevent being rumbled."
The teenage hunks - who have 15.4 million twitter followers between them - particularly enjoy doing it while they spend time waiting in airports and hotels.
The source added to the Daily Star newspaper: "They find out what fans enjoy most at the gigs and which songs they like and don't like. It's also a good place to hear what the latest rumours are. They say it helps them kill time as well when they're waiting in hotels and airports around the world. Harry does it the most. He loves finding out what the fans really think."

She is an accomplished actor with international acclaim. Just don't mention the other ''a'' word … ''Angel'' from Home and Away. Melissa George has blasted Australian media for referring to the teenage role she had on the soapie 20 years ago, saying it has caused her so much stress she is unlikely to return here. "Nobody does more promotion for that f---ing show than me."
"I love this city so much," she said of Sydney. "And I want to come home a lot but the stress that this has created in me is not worthy of my health. I think it will be the last time [I visit and work here] for a while, to be honest, because I just get too upset coming home."
George, whose new series Hunted begins screening on SBS on Saturday, said she was sick of people referring to her as Angel because she had the role 20 years ago. "I don't need credibility from my country any more, I just need them all to be quiet. If they have nothing intelligent to say, please don't speak to me any more. I'd rather be having a croissant and a little espresso in Paris or walking my French bulldog in New York City," she said. lmao ok
George is dating French millionaire Jean-David Blanc, with a lifestyle a long way from Summer Bay. "I've got to be honest. I'm not going to be a good Aussie any more. I'm going to speak out. I've just had it," she said. "It's disgusting."
George was 16 when she moved from Western Australia to Sydney for the Home and Away role, with the full backing of her parents. She became a household name while playing the role of Angel Brooks, opposite Dieter Brummer's Shane Parrish, from 1993 to 1996. The pair eventually married on screen and became one of the most popular couples the show has produced. She won two Logie Awards including most popular new talent, launched her Angel at my Bedside nightwear range and then appeared on the cover of Playboy.
The 36-year-old has gone on to success on US and British television (including a Golden Globe nomination) and received critical acclaim for her latest roles in The Slap and her new series, Hunted. But she is upset that Angel still takes up more airtime than her other characters combined. "I've never spoken out about it because I have to be the loyal good Aussie, who goes away and comes home. But I'm a really hard-working woman and people have to respect me for what I've done," George said.
Her extraordinary outburst came after a television interview with Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies on Seven's The Morning Show on Friday, where the actor saw old footage of herself as Angel.
She said the presenters only mentioned her more recent international acting accolades when she "threatened to walk off the set". "Right behind my head was pictures of Angel and on the montage they called me 'Home and Away actress Melissa George'," she said. "Now, it's because it's Channel Seven, so my next call will be to Home and Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f---ing show than me."
Despite vowing she is unlikely to return to Australia for some time, George will continue with her current stay here. She is due to start making a new film Felony with Joel Edgerton and Tom Wilkinson on Monday. It will be directed by Matt Saville, who also directed George in The Slap.
A spokeswoman for Seven said the station had "no comment" about George's displeasure.
I know it must be annoying when people reference your old work from time to time, but she sounds like an entitled, pretentious asshole to me.
(edit: the video at the source shows the interview, but unfortunately not the meltdown - however, the interviewers and the clip to introduce her reference most of her work she has done, not just Home & Away, so she definitely overreacted.)
"The Fighter" director David O. Russell won't face criminal charges for touching his transgender niece's breasts last month ... at least for now -- this according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.
A rep for the Sheriff's Office tells TMZ, the investigation has been concluded and the case has been closed. According to the rep, cops will not be referring the case to the State's Attorney "because it's an allegation of simple battery that was not witnessed by law enforcement."
The rep adds, the alleged victim can still take her case to the State's Attorney on her own for their consideration -- which means it's still possible, although unlikely, that charges could be filed in the future.
As we previously reported, Russell's 19-year-old niece -- a transgender female -- told police her famous uncle felt her breasts during a workout session at a Florida hotel gym. Cops say Russell admitted he touched her chest, but insisted he had consent.
A rep for David tells us, "We are pleased that the authorities have looked into this matter and have confirmed that the investigation has been concluded and the case has been closed."
Worth noting, Russell's got an infamously ferocious temper -- back in 2004, he faced off with actress Lily Tomlin in a massive blowout on the set of "I Heart Huckabees" ... and it was all caught on tape.

Hope was spotted inside a Seattle courtroom this afternoon, where Stevens was facing a 4th degree assault charge stemming from an incident at a home in Kirkland, WA.
According to Chris Daniels at KING-TV, cops say Solo and Stevens were involved in an altercation around 3:45 AM on Monday ... after arguing about where they will live after they get married -- Florida or Washington.
According to Daniels, cops found Solo with a small amount of blood on her elbow ... but she wasn't very cooperative with police.
1:52 PM PT -- Stevens is now off the hook ... because the judge decided there was not enough evidence to charge him with a crime. He has since been released from custody.

The mercurial actor clarifies his awards comments
The mercurial Joaquin Phoenix starts his interviews differently to other Hollywood stars. And because voting has just closed in the US, it seems reasonable to ask firstly what he did on election day.
''Oh, who cares?'' the two-time Oscar nominee says derisively from his home in Los Angeles. But isn't this a defining moment in American politics?
''No, I don't mean who cares about that,'' he says. ''I mean, who cares what I'm doing?
''I'm not sure I'm well-spoken enough to handle that kind of stuff. I imagine that I'll just be walking around in two days and my publicist will go, 'You idiot, why did you say that?'''
Phone time with an actor best known for playing intense, troubled characters in such movies as To Die For, Gladiator, Walk the Line, I'm Still Here and now The Master is a colourful experience. Phoenix has a suggestion.
''I think you should just write the interview that you'd like and I approve it.''
As an approach, it has its merits. But a journalist would have trouble inventing Phoenix's recent lacerating comments about the Oscars.
''I think it's total, utter bullshit and I don't want to be a part of it,'' he told Interview magazine. ''Pitting people against each other … it's the stupidest thing in the whole world''.
Phoenix says he was surprised the comments made such a splash. ''You know what it's like, you sit and you bullshit for a couple of hours. You just miss so much of what someone says when it's written down.'' Pause. ''I guess I sound like a dick.''

On Monday's episode of "Katie," Judith Sheindlin (better known as Judge Judy) chats with host Katie Couric about celebrating her 70th birthday.
The tough TV judge turned the big 7-0 on Oct. 21, and celebrated the milestone by showing off her still slim, toned bod. Sheindlin brought a photo to share of herself posing in a sexy white bikini on her big day. In May 2012, Sheindlin launched the advice-sharing website whatwouldjudysay.com. In a video posted Nov. 1, she discussed planning for your funeral.
"If I had my choice, I'd skip the topic altogether and live forever," she said. "Since that may not be an option, the details surrounding an eternal resting place should be given a little thought."

At nine fifteen, Rihanna’s black Escalade pulls up in front of Emilio’s Ballato, Andy Warhol’s Nolita Italian restaurant of choice, a circus in tow. Her army of bodyguards surveys the scene. Then one of Rihanna’s long legs hits the pavement and it’s madness. She’s been named the most downloaded artist ever, the most popular star on Facebook, the sexiest woman alive; she’s reached nearly 3 billion views on YouTube; she’s Rihanna Inc., a multimillion-dollar enterprise. She’s 24. “Sometimes a person looks at me and sees dollars. They see numbers and they see a product, ” she says. “I look at me and see art. If I didn’t like what I was doing, then I would say I was committing slavery. ”

Members of the British boy band One Direction are making the most of their moment. The band brought its new ballad, the all-warm-and-gooey "Little Things," to the set of NBC's "Today" show Tuesday morning and then the guys revealed that they're taking their act to the big screen.
"We are gonna do our first-ever movie," said Niall Horan, adding that it's "going to be in 3-D."
The film is scheduled to be in theaters Aug. 30, 2013, and will follow 3-D films from the likes of the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
Still untitled, the film is to be directed by Morgan Spurlock, who is best known for documentaries such as "Super Size Me" and "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?"
In a news release, Spurlock praised the band without commenting on the new direction of his career.
"This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band," he said.
The film is to be released by TriStar and produced by Simon Cowell, who had a hand in assembling the band on the British edition of his show "The X-Factor."
"Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it's like to be One Direction today," Cowell said in a statement.
I'm losing more and more love for Jax with each passing episode.
Because one nostalgia post wasn't enough
Although CBS could have put Rules of Engagement in its slot quickly the same way they did for How To Be A Gentleman last season. Perhaps they have other plans for Rules, or perhaps there's some problem with mid-season sitcom Friend Me that we don't know about. CBS' future actions this season may shed light on why, or we may never know.
CBS’ Partners last night sustained the steepest week-to-week drop of any Monday program, falling 14 percent in the demo to a 1.8 — the freshman sitcom’s lowest rating to date — while holding steady in total audience (with 5.6 million viewers).

[BlindGossip] Last week we talked about a young couple that will be getting engaged in the near future. A few of the guesses pointed to this popular male heartthrob. While he was not the subject of those blinds, he is the subject of this one!
This heartthrob would like to be engaged to his famous girlfriend, whom he has been dating for over a year. And here’s some surprising news for you: he actually proposed to her a few months ago!
But… she said “No.” However, “No” doesn’t mean “Never.” She told him to ask her again in a few months. So they might still get engaged in 2013. But she is not ready to make a big commitment to marriage – or a baby – right now.

According to the website of Tim Plester, the English actor and playwright will be taking on the role of Black Walder in season three of Game of Thrones.
A veteran of British film and television, Plester will be appearing next year in the historical heist film Closer to the Moon and the Nick Frost comedy Cuban Fury. In 2011, he wrote and co-directed the documentary, Way of the Morris, about the English folk art of Morris dancing. Plester also had a brief but memorable role in Kickass, as the criminal who had an unfortunate encounter with an industrial microwave.
In A Song of Ice and Fire, his character is the great-grandson of Lord Walder Frey. He is called “Black” Walder on account of his hot temper and frightening demeanor, intimidating even his own family.
Is ‘The Judge’ the project that will see Jack Nicholson return to the big screen for the first time since 2010′s ‘How Do You Know’? Director David Dobkin is currently trying to get Nicholson to star as Robert Downey Jr.’s father in the upcoming drama.
It’s been two years since Jack Nicholson graced the big screen in ‘How Do You Know,’ and before that, he hadn’t starred in a film for three years with 2007′s ‘The Bucket List.’ Nicholson has become very picky in his old age, and rightfully so — the man’s earned it. And we can’t even recall the last time we saw his sunglasses holding it down at the Oscars. But we might be seeing Nicholson again very soon.
THR reports that director David Dobkin is seeking Nicholson for his latest film, ‘The Judge,’ starring and produced by Robert Downey Jr., in which the ‘Iron Man‘ star will play a successful lawyer who goes home to his small town (aren’t they all?) for his mother’s funeral, only to find out that his father has been suffering from Alzheimer’s and is suspected of killing his mother. The big shot attorney will have to defend his father in a case that will inevitably change his life, making him a better person, and so on — you know how these things go.
Nicholson notoriously passed on playing the part of mobster Frank Costello in Martin Scorsese‘s ‘The Departed’ several times before meetings with both Scorsese and star Leonardo DiCaprio changed his mind.
Jack Nicholson: America’s favorite grumpy old grandpa. Sorry we’re not sorry, Clint Eastwood.
"I have met certain people whom I automatically would never vote for because I didn’t like the 30 seconds that I spent with them." He (director James Toback) refused to name names ("the list is too long"), but added, "Listen, anyone who says that the Oscars is not a popularity contest is lying through his teeth. People vote for their friends and they vote against the people they don’t like. I would almost say that one in ten voters that I’ve known over the years actually do it legitimately, if there is such a thing."
The regular weekly posts, where we’ll put more of a focus on each of the main categories, will start tomorrow, and remain on Wednesdays until January 9th, the day before the Academy Award nominations are announced. Until then, let’s get warmed up with this list of potential Oscar hopefuls that Variety put together (and remember, these are movies that range from potential Best Picture nominations to mostly technical nods, so… no need to point out that “so-and-so has no shot at best picture” in the comments). Which of these have you already seen ONTD? Which ones that haven’t come out yet are you most looking forward to?

btw, if anyone has suggestions for things they want to see in these posts, or if you wanna contribute something to them in general, feel free to say so in the comments.
At times it may seem like super busy Rihanna is in two places at once, but now she can be! A new wax figure of the star was unveiled at Madame Tussauds at the Venetian in Las Vegas on Tuesday (November 13).
The “Umbrella” singer’s lifelike copy wore a semi-sheer, white one-legged leotard with white heeled boots and short red hair as she poses with a microphone in hand. Later in the afternoon, a second wax figure was revealed at the famed museum in Hollywood, CA. In this life-like depiction, RiRi dons a colorful, bedazzled two-piece with bright red hair.
