A year after the Academy honored the world famous Oprah Winfrey and James Earl Jones at its third annual Governors Awards ceremony, it has decided to honor at its fourth four individuals who are decidedly not household names, but whose immense contributions to the industry should not be understated, and who will have no shortage of great Hollywood stories to share. At the Dec. 1 ceremony, 81-year-old stuntman Hal Needham, 87-year-old documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker, and 80-year-old producer George Stevens, Jr. will receive honorary Oscars, and 61-year-old studio executive Jeffrey Katzenberg will be presented with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which has only been given out 34 times in the past.

The Governors Awards are presented by a 43-member board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences -- the best-known members of which include actors Annette Bening and Tom Hanks, directors Kathryn Bigelow and Michael Mann, screenwriter Bill Condon, animator John Lasseter and documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.
Jason Biggs is learning there are limits to his turtle power.
The actor, who is voicing Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, came under fire from parenting groups and conservative bloggers for controversial tweets he made during the Republican National Convention last week.
In a series of missives, he made sexual remarks about Ann Romney and Vice Presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s wife, Janna.
"I'd totes dip a pinky or two in Paul Ryan's wife's bleached asshole (she obvs bleaches her asshole.) #RNC” read one Biggs tweet from Aug. 29.

When Julian Castro spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, not only did he bring down the house with his story of realizing the American dream, he lit up Twitter with his curiously familiar looks. And, no, it wasn't his twin brother people were mistaking him for. As Michael Ian Black succinctly put it, "Julian Castro looks like the Latino Jimmy Fallon." And from pretty much that moment on, no one could see anything else.
So it stands to reason that Fallon would have to take an impression of the San Antonio mayor out for a spin on Wednesday's show, and it did not disappoint. We're counting down the seconds until Castro and his brother Joaquin make an appearance alongside their "Late Night" doppelganger.

Tom Brokaw was sent to a hospital in Charlotte on Thursday morning, TVNewser reported.
A spokesperson said that the former "NBC Nightly News" host complained of feeling light-headed after a "Morning Joe" taping, and was taken to the hospital for examination.
Brokaw has been seemingly everywhere during the Democratic National Convention, which is taking place in Charlotte. From frequent early morning appearances on "Morning Joe" to to early evening tapings of "The Daily Show" to late-night chats with Sean Hannity, the 72-year-old has been working a punishing schedule. Brokaw also moderated a Huffington Post panel on jobs on Wednesday.
There was no word on when Brokaw would be out of the hospital.

In town to cover New York Fashion Week for E!, Ryan Lochte attended a Four Seasons fête for Brian Atwood last night, where The Cut caught up with our favorite poetically minded Olympian. Asked "which shows" he would be attending, a bright-eyed Lochte rattled off a list of upcoming TV show appearances: "I know I have the cameo for 30 Rock in the morning, and after that, E! And then Live With Kelly. So I’m all over the place."
We also asked Lochte about his E! fashion-reporting gig and offered to help him practice.

Could Viggo “Killing Orcs E’erday” Mortensen wind up as the Sorcerer Supreme in one of Marvel Studios’ next flicks? Well… let’s take a look.
This latest rumor finds its origins in a particularly barren Twitter account hosted @RogerWardell. With a paltry crew of followers and a light sprinkling of comic book movie announcements, there’s nothing remarkable about Mister Wardell, or so it would seem.
While I would usually cast aside his bizarre series of Marvel centric tweets as nothing more than rabid fanboy mongerings, some of Wardell’s predictions have been true. He was the first to announce Falcon’s inclusion in the Captain America sequel and first again with regards to Sebastian Stan’s return as Bucky.
Well, one of his most recent bits of clairvoyance promises that the much beloved fanboy icon Viggo Mortensen is in discussions with Marvel to portray a character in one of their upcoming films, and DSH has narrowed it to Doctor Strange in Thor: The Dark World (in a short cameo to test the waters). How f***ing cool would that be?

Keira Knightley would 'love to' have children - but not yet.
The 'Anna Karenina' actress - who is engaged to Klaxons musician James Righton - is bemused by speculation she is pregnant and admits the regular questions have made her worry about her figure.
She said: 'People keep trying to make me pregnant! I'm not ready for it. Yes I'd love to at some point but not this quick, stop trying to make me pregnant.
'I have been asked whether I am pregnant yet about four or five times. And I started thinking, 'Do I look like I'm pregnant ... I'm a very thin girl, I am sure I don't look pregnant!' It's the ring on my finger!'
Keira is best known for appearing in various period dramas, but she confesses she finds the tight-fitting corsets the roles require very uncomfortable.
Asked whether she thinks her 'Anna Karenina' corsets or the biker look in her recent Chanel campaign sexier, she told UK radio station Magic 105.4: 'That's tricky. I'd always go for comfort, so I'd say the biker chick look! Corsets stop you breathing which I have always found tricky. You just don't breathe. Breathing is overrated, clearly.'

Kris Jenner hates reality TV sensation Honey Boo Boo and her mom June Shannon, a source tells RadarOnline.com exclusively.
The leader of the Kardashian clan fears that the Thompsons are stealing the spotlight from her family and their show, believes that June is a horrible mom for putting her daughter through beauty pageants and thinks she is exploiting 7-year-old Alana to make money, the source says.
“To say Kris is not a fan of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is an understatement,” the source reveals.
“She thinks the Thompsons are classless, unlike her family and can’t understand why America is so fascinated by them.
“The show has become bigger than Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and Kris is starting to feel threatened by its success.
“Kris especially has a strong dislike for June, claiming the beauty pageant world is vile and that June is a bad mom for 'exploiting' Alana in that way.
“Kris think it’s all a ploy to make money, and says she sees through it and thinks it is absolutely disgusting.
“Although it’s like pot calling the kettle black – you could say that Kris does exactly the same with her family,” the source added.
Centered around Toddlers & Tiaras contestant Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo has become an overnight success, recently scoring more viewers than the entire Republican National Convention!
The redneck reality TV show was watched by 2.9 million fans – doubling the figures of those tuning in to watch Paul Ryan’s acceptance speech.
As RadarOnline previously reported, Honey Boo Boo was a “surprise” guest at a Jason Crabb concert last weekend, and the Christian singer’s fans could not stop talking about it!
"Oh my!!! What a hoot!! We love Jason too and we can't look away from Honey Boo Boo LOL...Too sweet!!" wrote one of his followers.
"Gotta love honey boo boo child!" said another.
Crabb sang to the reality star during his concert in Irwington, Georgia, and then gave her a big hug as she twanged "I like Jason Crabb" straight into the camera.
The sixth installment in the Child's Play franchise, Curse of Chucky, begins principal photography in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, today.
The franchise comes full circle as Toyland's most gruesome serial killer returns in an all-new movie from Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production entity of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. .
Curse of Chucky stars Fiona Dourif (True Blood), A Martinez (Longmire), Danielle Bisutti (True Jackson, VP) and Brennan Elliott (The 4400). Brad Dourif once again returns to provide the voice of Chucky, the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of notorious serial killer Charles Lee Ray, who returns to settle some unfinished business.
The film is directed by Don Mancini, the Child's Play franchise creator who has written or co-written each of the previous movies and was the director of Seed of Chucky. David Kirschner (An American Tail, Hocus Pocus, Bride of Chucky) produces from a screenplay by Mancini. Tony Gardner returns on FX duties.
Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother's affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica's plans for the future, Barb's young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn't know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He's determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he's going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.
"Since his introduction to audiences in Child's Play almost a quarter-century ago, Chucky has haunted the nightmares of a generation of moviegoers," said Glenn Ross, General Manager and Executive Vice President, Universal 1440 Entertainment. "Returning to his roots in one of the most provocative horror franchises, this new sequel will shock longtime fans of the series and newcomers alike."
Sounds like it's going to be direct-to-DVD, but it's not like the Chucky series has been a sterling example of big screen quality. I just hope this is better than Seed of Chucky, because that movie was a damn mess.
Feel free to share any stories about how Chucky fucked you up as a kid, or just doll horror stories in general. :)

Benedict Cumberbatch joins Stephen Hawking at the premiere of his new documentary series
The Sherlock star joined Dara O'Briain, Will Self and others at Professor Hawking's big event
herlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was among the stars of academia, media and TV in attendance last night at the premiere of theoretical physicist Professor Stephen Hawking's new documentary series, Stephen Hawking's Grand Design.
Taking place at London's presitgious Royal Society, the event saw writers Will Self and Adam Rutherford join experimental physicist Athene Donald, Astronomer Royal Martin Rees, Cumberbatch and Mock the Week host Dara O'Briain for a debate about where science will take us over the next 40 years.
O'Briain hosted the debate and kicked off by quipping that Kevin McCloud and Channel 4's lawyers will doubtless be keeping a close watch on the series on account of Grand Design's titular similarity to C4 property series Grand Designs.
While O'Briain joked on Twitter before the premiere that he might struggle with the debate, as he'd spent part of the day playing a drinking game with Lee Mack for his new stand-up DVD, the Irish comedian had a whale of a time.
"What a mad night," he tweeted, before joking: "The high point was Benedict Cumberbatch telling Stephen exclusive details of the new Star Trek film."
The other panellists evidently enjoyed themselves too, as Adam Rutherford tweeted Athene Donald after the event to say "lovely to meet you at last, sorry we didn't catchup afterwards," to which the Cambridge physicist responded: "Indeed! Hope our paths cross again soon. Interesting event."
Reflecting on last night's event earlier today, O'Briain joked that, having enjoyed such convivial company with some of his heroes, his life had "peaked".
"So, margaritas with Sherlock Holmes and Stephen Hawking. My life has peaked. Sell your Dara shares now," he wrote.
Stephen Hawking's Grand Design begins on Discover on Thursday 13 September at 9:00pm.
I really, really loved the BBC Drama where Benedict played Hawking. I think it's probably my favourite Cumberbatch preformance.

I know everyone and their dog is asking you for money right now, every indie band, filmmaker, and of course Obama, which is why I’ve tried my hardest not to link to a ton of kickstarters/indie a go-go’s etc… BUT my friend Jennifer is making a movie called ‘It Was Rape’ and she has less than 40 hours to raise $10,000.
This project is important to me for a myriad of reasons but mostly because I was raped by a stranger when I was 15. I never reported it because I was drunk and had accepted a ride from him. He said he was taking me home but instead he pulled onto the freeway and took me to his apartment. I tricked him into not doing certain things by acting like I liked him as I had a big instinct that he had not only done this before but that some girls may have not left his apartment alive. I’ll never know if that was true or not, it was just a gut feeling. I’ll never forget him throwing a box of kleenex at me after he was done. I could see he was trying to think of fake reasons to get mad at me so his violence towards me could escalate, but I stayed calm, even laughing and pretending I was excited for our next “date”. Even though I didn’t fight back in a traditional way, I DID fight back, it’s not a passive thing to read a situation and figure out the best plan to stay alive. I did it, I got out. I blamed myself for a long time and lived in fear for years that he would come back and finish me off.

After making an informal debut in a televised ad late last night, Amazon's larger Kindle Fire has finally been unveiled. Introduced today at a press event in Los Angeles, the new Kindle Fire HD features an 8.9-inch 1920x1200, 254ppi display. It includes an HD front-facing camera and a laminated touch sensor for better visuals and 25-percent less glare. Under the hood, Amazon has dropped in a Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 processor, which it says outperforms the Tegra 3. The Kindle Fire HD also includes stereo speakers, an upgrade over the Kindle Fire's mono driver. While the company is also offering a 4G LTE variation, Amazon has also improved Wi-Fi networking by adding a dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz receiver, two antennas, MIMO radio technology. It'll ship with 16GB of local storage, with additional storage available in the cloud.

Amazon's new 7-inch Kindle Fire: twice the RAM, faster processor, longer battery life, $159
Along with an all-new Kindle e-reader with illuminated paperwhite display and a lower-price standard Kindle, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos just announced an updated Kindle Fire tablet during a press conference today. The new Fire features a 7-inch display, a 40-percent faster processor, twice as much RAM, and longer battery life than the original model.
Despite the upgrades, Amazon is actually dropping the price of the new Kindle Fire by $40 compared to the original model, as it will now sell for $159 when it starts shipping on September 14th.
Kindle Paperwhite e-reader announced, $119 Wi-Fi and $179 3G models ship October 1st
Amid a storm of tablet-related hype and speculation, Amazon just announced the latest iteration of its "traditional" e-reader: Kindle Paperwhite. The name refers to its expected new screen technology for a sharper (212 ppi) and higher-contrast display, and also features a frontlight that brings parity with Barnes & Noble's Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. The device is entirely controlled by touch — hardware page-turning switches are out, and so is the home button.

Yesterday, Lupe Fiasco announced via his Twitter page that he may be done with rap after a small spat with fellow hometown rapper Chief Keef. You see, there were more than 152 killings in Chicago between June and the end of August alone this year with 38 of them being teenagers, and unfortunately up and comer Chief Keef (who’s only 17) glorifies that ‘Bang Bang’ lifestyle. If you follow, Chief Keef on Twitter, he tweets with the hashtag “300,” which is a reference to the Chicago Street gang, the Black Disciples. Police started monitoring Chief’s account earlier this week after another 16 year old rapper (by the name of Lil Jojo) was killed in Chicago who had a known beef with the street gang. And to make matters a little worse, Chief Keef sent out an unsympathetic tweet after the rapper was shot to death that read,”‘Its Sad Cuz Dat Ni–a Jojo Wanted To Be Jus Like Us #LMAO.” [As in 'Laughing My Ass Off'.]
But it didn’t stop there. A day after Lil Jojo’s murder, Chief Keef also sent a threat to Lupe Fiasco via Twitter:
“Lupe fiasco a hoe azz ni–a And wen I see him I’ma smack him like da lil b-tch he is #300″.

She played a fearless teenager on sci-fi drama Heroes.
But while Hayden Panettiere oozed confidence as heroine Claire Bennet on screen, the actress wasn't always so self-assured.
The 23-year-old, in the new issue of Women's Health magazine, admits she battled with body dysmorphia after seeing an unflattering photo of herself when she was a teenager.
The former child star said she was stunned when she saw the word 'cellulite' printed next to an image of her backside in a magazine, and it sent her into a downward spiral.
However, she now seems to have conquered those demons once and for all, posing for the magazine's October issue in a figure-fitting black mini dress.
Hayden, since Heroes wrapped in 2010, has meanwhile enjoyed a busy production schedule, refusing to allow her body issues to get in the way of her burgeoning acting career.
The actress, whose career in show business began with commercial roles at 11-months-old, was cast in her first small screen role at four-and-a-half with soap opera One Life to Live.
A part on Guiding Light and a handful of feature films and TV series followed - including Disney's Remember the Titans, appearances on Ally McBeal and cheerleader comedy Bring It On - before she landed her most notable role as cheerleader Claire Bennet on Heroes, which hit screens in 2006.

Bill Clinton at the DNC
The Democratic National Convention
Should Ann Curry write a book?
Should a Photo-ID be required to vote?
It started straightforwardly enough. I was going to L.A. to interview one of the biggest stars in the world about her upcoming film. At 21, Kristen Stewart had just been listed by Forbes magazine as the highest-paid actress in Hollywood, a wealth largely due to Twilight, the vampire franchise in which she plays virgin idol, Bella Swan. The quintessential emo, famed for her baity persona, Stewart was second only to Kate Middleton in terms of public interest, an interest nurtured by our fascination with her off-screen courtship with co-star Robert Pattinson, which had tantalized the world with its are-they, aren’t-they narrative for years.
In this instance, however, Stewart was promoting a smaller, indie project: Walter Salles’s film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s mostly autobiographical hipster classic On the Road. The book had been a passion of hers for years – of course it had! – and she’d lobbied and lobbied for the part of 16-year old Marylou (the free spirit based on Neal Cassady’s wife LuAnne, who also enjoyed a love affair with Kerouac). Maylous was a million miles away from Stewart’s neurotic and clumsy-to-the-point-of-syspraxic Swan; the perfect breakaway role. Like I said, it all seemed pretty straightforward.
And so we met, on a lovely sunny day at Casita del Campo, a gloomy, near-empty Mexican restaurant, not far from the Los Feliz mansion she shared with Pattinson. A tiny, intense presence, dressed in faded grey skinnies, she looked like a little doll as she slid into the booth. She had personally picked the venue, a) because there were sure to be no “cockroaches” (her word for the paparazzi) lurking in the bushes; and b) because, being a cool Silver Lake chick, she loves Mexican food. “I don’t even know why I’m looking at the menu,” she sighed, as she half-heartedly swiped a chip in the salsa. “I already made myself lunch.”
With her reputation for bolshiness (all that gurning and insistent wearing of trainers on the red carpet and so forth), I’d half-expected the meeting to be one of those classic journalistic struggles, but, in fact, she turned out to be excellent company; interesting, interested, articulate, funny, easy. She spoke carefully, with precision; a Valley Girl, sure, with all the “dudes” and the “likes”, but an articulate, measured one.

You're so fabulous Cullen, I ain't even mad.
She's done it again. With unlikely nail color and a few dramatic hand gestures, the First Lady has catapulted a new beauty trend into the mainstream.
On Tuesday during her impassioned speech at the Democratic National Convention, the First Lady's blue-gray nails got as much buzz as her Tracy Reese dress. Equal parts Katy Perry and high school goth, the color was an unusual choice for a political figure, no less a woman over 30. But Michelle Obama doesn't follow style rules, she reinvents them.
By the second day of the convention, Michelle's gray nails were still intact and beauty bloggers were on a mission to identify her polish of choice. Was it Chanel? O.P.I?

Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, Red Dawn) was set to star in the title role of NBC's Wonder Woman, a series that would a reinvent the iconic DC Comics' character as a vigilante crime fighter and successful corporate executive in Los Angeles. The show's theme would revolve around Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. Elizabeth Hurley, Cary Elwes and Justin Bruening were also set to star in the series.
After months of controversy surrounding the project due to widespread displeasure over everything from the Wonder Woman suit to the series' storyline, NBC opted to pass on airing the pilot and no other network picked it up. Now it's being reported that the Amazonian princess may get another chance to make her return to the small screen.
The CW is now developing a script for a Wonder Woman series that would tell the origin of the character. Vulture has the scoop: "The new take on the comic book crime fighter is being written by Allan Heinberg (Grey's Anatomy, The O.C.) under the working title Amazon. Unlike past TV incarnations, it will focus on Wonder Woman as a young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty. (Think Smallville, but instead of a "no tights, no flights" rule, this show might have a "no bracelets, no crown" mandate.) Heinberg seems a logical candidate for the job: His resume includes work on the kinds of soapy dramas the CW favors as well as comic-geek street cred (he wrote the Young Avengers comic book series back in 2005)."
The network has another DC Comics-based series, Arrow, scheduled to begin airing this year beginning October 10th.
Daniel Craig as a blue steel-eyed James Bond captured the spy’s cold and ruthless manner (as described by creator Ian Fleming) in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. However, absent was the swagger and dry air of sophistication that Craig’s predecessors brought to the role, in varying amounts. The character had become less a suave agent carrying out his orders for queen and country, more a morally-compromised killing machine whose disillusionment recalls Matt Damon as Jason Bourne – rather than Sean Connery as 007 going back to Dr. No.
It’s for those reasons that Craig’s run as James Bond has been heralded by some, decried by others. Earlier this year, Bond series producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson announced their interest in locking Craig down to portray 007 for the next decade (or, rather, five films) following the release of Skyfall this November. That public revelation rallied masses of Craig supporters and detractors alike – prompting arguments about just what, exactly, makes for a good screen version of the character (and whether or not Craig has it).
That was well before marketing got properly underway for Skyfall, with trailers and behind-the-scenes footage suggesting that director Sam Mendes’ promises to deliver a proper Bond movie (as he puts it, “a big fabulous escapist movie” for the 21st century) are more than just hot air. Craig remains physically-fierce and hardened in the face as ever, but his 007 appears to undergo a humbling metamorphosis in Skyfall, evolving from a glorified thug (armed with a gun and a license to kill) into a classier, but still deadly, government employee. Hence, the overall reception could be more positive for today’s announcement that Craig has worked out a deal to return as 007 for two additional films after Skyfall.
MI6 is confirming the new contract for Craig, but points out there’s a precedent for Bond actors dropping their commitment early – as happened with both Connery and Timothy Dalton. Moreover, EON Productions heads are said to have enjoyed the non-aggressive production timeline for the 23rd Bond film, resulting from a prolonged break between Quantum of Solace and Skyfall (as a result of MGM’s financial woes). That could mean the studio will be less inclined to adhere to a rigid two-year break between installments from hereon out – and, if an extended delay were to occur, it could encourage Craig to walk away prematurely after just one more Bond film.
However, there are currently no signs that EON Productions has plans to do that, seeing how it’s already gone and set screenwriters to begin developing the next two Bond films starring Craig. The actor has let it be known he does not intend to take on another role until after the new year – and the slow progress on David Fincher’s The Girl Who Played with Fire adaptation (where Craig would reprise his role as investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist) ensures the actor won’t have any other priorities demanding his attention in the foreseeable future.
Are you excited to see Craig play James Bond for (at least) two more films?
Skyfall opens in U.S. theaters on November 9th, 2012.
Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are separating after nine years of marriage, Us Weekly has learned exclusively. "It's very amicable," a source says. The couple's rep confirms the separation to Us.
The couple, who wed on August 29, 2003, are parents to sons Archie, 3, and Abel, 2. Saturday Night Live alum Poehler, 40, and Up All Night actor Arnett, 42, have frequently appeared onscreen together, in both TV and film.
Their joint credits include Arrested Development, Blades of Glory, Horton Hears a Who!, On Broadway, Spring Breakdown and Monsters vs. Aliens. Arnett also guest starred in an episode of Poehler's NBC smash comedy Parks and Recreation in 2010.
"People think we sit around and make each other laugh and stuff," Poehler told USA Today of their bond in 2007. "But we're real homebodies."
This was the first marriage for Poehler and the second for Arnett, who was wed to actress Penelope Ann Miller, 48, for one year until divorcing in 1995.
Poehler is currently nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, both for Parks and Recreation. Arnett is also nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role as Devon Banks on NBC's 30 Rock.
Ryan Lochte won't be rocking his Speedo in The Bachelor hot tub any time soon.
Lochte is now "out of the running" to be the next Bachelor, show sources reveal to me exclusively.

However, four bet on Kevin Costner as "Devil" Anse Hatfield in "Hatfields and McCoys."

Lifetime has ordered 10 episodes of Prank My Mom, a new, hidden-camera, comedy show that allows kids to show their mothers just how much they love them. Hosted by Vivica A. Fox (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Dancing with the Stars), the program will premiere on Lifetime on Tuesday, October 9th, at 10 pm ET/PT. In advance of its October 9th launch, Lifetime will sneak-peek Prank My Mom on Thursday, September 27th, and October 4th, at 10:30pm, immediately following Project Runway.
Prank My Mom will feature sons and daughters pulling off the most unheard of, outrageous and hilarious pranks - from a son getting caught shoplifting with his mom; to a daughter setting mom up on what turnsinto a blind date from hell; to a mom saying she was seriously injured in an accident to keep her child from being fired - all moms are in for a surprise they will never forget.
As the pranks progress, the kids' acting skills are put to the test while strategically-placed hidden cameras are on hand to capture every mom's reaction. From shock, tears and laughter, to panic and near nervous breakdowns, everyone is in on the joke... except the moms. Once they have reached their breaking points, the actors let the moms in on the secret: that they've been PRANKED! Cameras rush in to reveal -- to a more than relieved mom -- that they've been set up by their loved ones.
A+E Networks will handle global sales for Prank My Mom.
Prank My Mom is produced by Thinkfactory Media and Peter M. Cohen Productions. Adam Reed, Peter M. Cohen, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif serve as Executive Producers with Lifetime's Rob Sharenow, Gena McCarthy and Kimberly Chessler.
Our readers in the UK have already seen the some if not all of the new series - the BBC/Sky 1 HD production of Sinbad - that features performances from the likes of Elliot Knight, Sophie Okonedo, George Harris, Ashley Walters and Estella Daniels. It began airing July 8.
And while French network Canal+ and Canadian broadcaster Bell Media were both pre-sold local rights to air Sinbad when it finally does premiere, there has been no word on if/when it'll reach North American shores... until today.
The Syfy channel has picked up stateside rights to Sinbad, with plans to air the 12-episode first season beginning in April, 2013.

Anyone been following the series so far? I've been too busy to catch the most recent episode. I'm happy that *** was ***'s love interest, we don't see that on british Tv any more.
The two stars first began dating in 2007, with Minka apparently ending things shortly before she stepped out with baseball star Derek Jeter.
Avengers Assemble star Chris and the actress have now decided to give things another go, but he is treading carefully.
“He's still a little insecure, so he's being cautious,” an insider told Us Weekly.
They have been spotted enjoying several dates recently, including a musical in New York City last month.
It was apparently Minka who started the ball rolling, after she realised Chris is her perfect partner.
“She did a number on him back [when they first dated],” another source claimed. “But she reached out to Chris this time.” (No kidding).
Minka and Derek first split last year, although they briefly rekindled their romance in March.
Soon after their initial break-up, it was claimed the 32-year-old actress hoped to seek solace with Chris, 31.
“She is the type of girl who likes having a boyfriend, and she thinks the second time around will be better with her and Chris,” an insider said at the time.
In addition to Jeter and Evans, Kelly -- who was named Esquire magazine's "Sexiest Woman Alive 2010" -- has also been linked to singer John Mayer, "Scrubs" star Donald Faison, her "Friday Night Lights" co-star Taylor Kitsch and, most recently, actor Wilmer Valderrama.
Pals of the actor are worried he might get hurt again. "He's still a little insecure, so he's being cautious," one friend of Chris says.
The MTV Video Music Awards had plenty of surprises, from Amber Rose's pregnancy, to Kevin Hart's monologue and Lil Wayne's headphones, but nothing was bigger than the kiss that no one saw.
Rihanna walked over to Chris Brown's seat and gave him a kiss.
In a photo uploaded to Instagram it looks like Rihanna was caught kissing her former boyfriend Chris Brown. Will they be getting back together or was it merely a gesture of good will and greeting?
Rihanna gave a heartfelt interview to Oprah telling her that she still loves Chris Brown, and now with this photograph of the two of them extremely close in what looks like a kiss, we can only imply that a Chrihanna reunion is coming a lot sooner than we think. source
Minor depression set in for millions of TV junkies last Sunday night when AMC's Breaking Bad reached its final season's midway point with a devastating, and cheekily literal, "Oh, shit" moment. Instead of only having to wait another six days and 23 hours to continue tracking Walter White's (Bryan Cranston) downward spiral, fans will have to endure 10 long, agonizing months of speculation and anticipation.
Fret not, though, because that sadness will only be temporary. Kicking off next Tuesday with the return of the FX biker drama Sons of Anarchy, television's best time of the year, the fall season, is back in effect and armed with enough superior material to make up for Breaking Bad's absence. As you'll see in our countdown of The 25 Most Anticipated TV Shows Of Fall 2012, several of programs that landed on our list of 2011's best TV shows are about to make rather splashy comebacks, in addition to a few intriguing new sitcoms and dramas. Say goodbye to Heisenberg and hello to bad guys like Nucky Thompson and The Governor.

Since this is a mix of old and new it's definitely missing the flawlessness that is 'Person of Interest'.
So ONTD - what are you most excited for? What should have made the list? What shouldn't be on it?
Britney Spears tried to back out of her $15 million "X Factor" deal on the VERY FIRST day of production ... after experiencing a panic attack on the set ... this according to Simon Cowell.
The "X Factor" creator just phoned in to "TMZ Live" ... and told us his people "half-lied" to the media back in May when they said Britney only walked off the set because she had to go to the bathroom.
"No one is going to admit that on the first day your highest paid star after 20 minutes has walked off set," Cowell told us.
So what really happened? Cowell admits Britney "had a moment on the first day where she said to me 'I'm not sure I can do this.'"
Of course, Cowell says he talked Brit back into the gig ... and now she's not only loving it, but she's developed into a kick-ass judge.
Britney also recently told Elle magazine about the gig, “(I was) extremely nervous. I was having panic attack after panic attack.”
Video of the actual interview with Simon talking to TMZ can be found HERE
If you’re anything like me you are always wondering what to do with all that extra money you have laying around. After all, there are only so many 24K gold pilates tables and black market black babies one can buy! Luckily, goop is back with a brand new collaboration that can be all yours for just over $1,600; a wee bit less than what I assume is the average American’s weekly smoothie budget!
These Rag & Bone rags don’t just serve fashion but also function. For instance, if you're looking to piss off your frienemies at vegan Sunday brunch and purge, these leather pants are sure to do the trick! For the nominal price of $935, plus tax, shipping and the life of a cow (no, I don’t mean Kate Winslet…or do I?) you’ll be looking totally stylish…well, not really stylish now, per se, but stylish for, like, the 2001 VMAs???
Or, get ready for Halloween early with the bromley blazer. You’ll dazzle at this year’s costume soiree as a repressed Republican lesbian who un-ironically shops at the Salvation Army for 1980s power-suits or as a Dalton Academy Warbler with a stick up your ass rather than Chris Colfer’s dick. Or maybe you enjoy Chris Colfer’s dick in your ass, I am not here to judge what you do in the bedroom, only the amount of money in your bank account.
