It appears that the IMDb users were mistaken, as trusted sources now tell us that both versions of the film used in test screenings were the R-rated versions, and Paramount absolutely plans on releasing Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters as R.

Alanis Morissette may have dropped some SERIOUS hints of late that she's heading for the judging panel of American Idol. But when omg! caught up with the Canadian star she told us she wasn't a big fan of the new swathe of talent shows.
Speaking exclusively to us ahead of the release of her brand new album, the singer said that they didn't do anything to nurture writing talent.
She told us: "Those shows are all about performance — mostly about the voice. The shows aren't really geared towards fostering the singer-songwriter in the artist.
"In fact I've noticed that the opposite is true. If anyone wanted to present their own songs they were very much dissuaded from that. It's not a show for the emerging singer songwriter."

ROUGH CUT. I watched the rough cut of The Canyons this afternoon (running time 1hr 44min). There's a maxim in the film business that "No film is as good as the dailies or as bad as the rough cut." Which means no film can live up to the expectations one creates when watching day to day footage and the first assembly of the film is the worst version you will see. It turns out, despite all one's magical thinking, to be just a movie after all. That said, I'm very pleased. Thrilled, actually. It works. The first half is fat but at midpoint it kicks in. Will take 5-7 min out this week, look at it again. And, yes, Lindsay and James are everything I'd hoped for. It's a game changer for both of them. Paul Schrader via Facebook

Salli Richardson is the first star to be cast in Lifetime's one-hour pilot The Secret Lives of Wives. The project, written by Jill Gordon and executive produced by Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz, centers on the lives of four marriages and the real truth behind them.
According to Deadline, Wives provides an "honest portrayal of the ultimate challenge every relationship faces – emotional and sexual longevity."
Richardson is slated to play Reed, one of the wives, who is professionally known as "The Siren." Reed is described as a "sultry host of a call-in radio show that caters to women’s fantasies." But Reed's radio show personality proves problematic to her already troubled 17-year long marriage.
Supposedly, Richardson chose this Lin Pictures and Warner Horizon project over a similarly titled NBC off-cycle pilot The Secret Lives Of Husbands And Wives, due to her longtime relationship with Nina Lederman, Lifetime's series development head, and after meeting with the network's producers.
As announced on November of last year, Richardson, along with Rockmond Dunbar, James Hayman and Craig Dorfman, is currently working on the TV adaptation of Pastor Brown, a feature directed by Dunbar and written by Rhonda Baraka (Trinity Goodheart).
In Pastor Brown, to be distributed by Arc Entertainment sometime this year, Richardson will play Jessica "Jesse" Brown, an exotic dancer returning home after more than a decade when her father becomes ill. She is also in the process of developing a Lena Horne stage show.
I'm happy she is getting work so soon after Eureka ended.
Lifetime, I see what you are doing and I'm not mad...*wink wink*
About a 1 1/2 months ago, we announced that Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and James Lassiter (via their Overbrook Entertainment) had teamed up with J. Michael Straczynski and his new media company, Studio JMS, to produce a new television series, which was said to be in development.
The new series was to be titled Epidemic, but details on what exactly its story was weren't yet known, nor what TV network it might be carried on.
Skip ahead to today, to news that ABC has put the series in development in what's being called a "script-to-series" commitment, which means that ABC will order the series (13 episodes) if they like the script they are presented with.
The trades are saying that the project is currently untitled, so I guess the previous title (Epidemic) has been dropped.
So what's this series going to be about, if ordered? Details are still limited; all that's been revealed is that it'll be "a high-octane pandemic thriller that combines closed-ended procedural and serialized elements," says Deadline.
No word on when we might expect movement on this, or who might be attached, both in front and behind the camera. I wouldn't expect Will Smith to star in it; nor Jada. But we'll see.
Straczynski’s past work includes writing/producing TV series like Babylon 5 and Jeremiah, and penning scripts for films that include Thor, Ninja Assassin, Underworld Awakening and Changeling.
Hopefully Jada won't run this to the ground like she did with HawthoRNe.
"It was that BET hadn't decided if they were picking up the show yet or not [...] During that time when they didn't know, I was offered a really amazing pilot for NBC, and BET graciously allowed me to go and do it [...] Then the timing got complicated and there was a need to move forward. [BET] had to figure out how to deal without me because I wasn't available. But it's not because I wanted to leave."
Words from Tracee Ellis Ross addressing her sudden exit from BET's Reed Between The Lines, in an exclusive with Essence magazine.
It was exactly 1 week ago when we confirmed that Ms Ross had left BET's freshman scripted series. Specific reasons weren't given at the time, but, in a released statement, Ms Ross did express her love for the series and its cast, calling it one that "I believe in and care about."
My guess was that her casting in the new NBC women's prison drama Bad Girls, adapted from the UK ITV series of the same name, might have had something to do with it. And it looks like it did in some part; however, as Essence reports, NBC actually DID NOT pick up the pilot for Bad Girls, which means it's likely dead. But we'll see.
Recall that Kym Whitley and Jurnee Smollett were both cast in Bad Girls as well.
So what does this now mean for Tracee, since season 2 of Reed Between The Lines is moving on without her AND, NBC didn't pick up Bad Girls?
Her IMDB page doesn't list any upcoming projects (at least, non that's been announced); however, don't completely write her off Reed Between The Lines; don't be surprised if her character does return in the future - assuming the series is even still around if/when that happens.
Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz still has acting on the brain (he just shot a guest spot for an upcoming episode of ABC’s Don’t Trust The B---- in Apt 23), but tugging at his heart these days is music.

"American Idol" desperately wanted Katy Perry to fill one of its vacant judge's seats, so much so, they offered her $20 MILLION ... but she she still turned it down ... TMZ has learned.
Sources close to the production tell TMZ ... "Idol" pursued Perry relentlessly for weeks, eager to get her to sign on the dotted line. According to our sources, they started the offer at $18 million, but threw even more cash on the table ... $20 MILLION for a one year contract!!!
We're told Katy made it clear ... she was NOT interested and money wasn't the issue.
Sources tell us ... aside from the fact that Katy's schedule made it impossible to do the show ... she just didn't think it was right career choice for her.

NBC’s Utah affiliate KSL-TV is sticking with its old normal this fall and refusing to air Ryan Murphy’s new gay-dads-and-their-surrogate comedy The New Normal.
“From time to time we may struggle with content that crosses the line in one area or another,” Jeff Simpson, CEO of KSL’s parent company, Bonneville International, told the Salt Lake Tribune. “The dialogue might be excessively rude and crude. The scenes may be too explicit or the characterizations might seem offensive.”
KSL, which is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, last season declined to air NBC’s The Playboy Club on similar grounds.
The station’s decision drew a harsh rebuke on Twitter from series star Ellen Barkin. Law & Order: SVU‘s “rape & child murder is ok? But [a] loving gay couple having a baby is inappropriate?” she asked. Barkin then encouraged Twitter users to “clog up @ksl5tv’s feed [for] their blatantly homophic decision to not air the show.”
Utah residents will likely get a chance to see the show, however, as local station KUCW plans to air it on weekends, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Kanye's boo decided to lighten up her hair, adding some blonde to her ends before heading to get her nails done at Andy LeCompte in LA.

Every outbreak has a patient zero.
Porn actor Mr. Marcus has come out and identified himself as the performer responsible for the current syphilis outbreak that has shut down production in the San Fernando Valley.
He believes he contracted the STD on set but admits that he altered his syphilis-positive test so that he could keep performing. His altered test was what started the scare and initiated the industry's self-imposed 10-day moratorium while actors are tested and treated for syphilis.
"I tried to cover it up… Because I said it was like the scarlet letter. It’s the word. Syphilis, whoa," Marcus said to XBiz. "Mr. Marcus, syphilis? Mr. Marcus, the one I worked with? The one that everybody works with? The one that’s been in this industry forever?"
In an emotional interview that brought the 18-year veteran actor to tears, Marcus said that he only altered the test because his doctor told him he would not be contagious 10 days after taking a shot of penicillin. “I have to live with this, no one else does,” he said. “I’m very sorry. I did not think that this would come out like this."
The porn actor was diagnosed with syphilis on July 12, received a penicillin shot on July 13 and returned to work 11 days later, on July 24, AVN reports. However, he still had the STD. Perhaps most disturbing, the producer of the shoot didn't ask for a paper or digital copy of Marcus' STD test. Instead, the actor showed a copy of the test on his cell phone so that the syphilis portion wasn't visible.
For a subsequent porn shoot, Marcus said he folded his test covering the syphilis portion and photocopied it. However, a producer noticed this time that the numbers were missing and called Marcus out on it.
As many as nine syphilis cases have been identified among porn performers, and more are expected, according to the Associated Press. Marcus said that the three women he performed with after his diagnosis have all tested negative for syphilis.
Marcus tweeted Thursday:
You can be disappointed, but don't throw stones. Some of you are living in glass houses.
— Mr.Marcus (@akaMrMarcus) August 23, 2012
The porn moratorium comes days after the California Department of Public Health released a report finding that syphilis cases in the Golden State have jumped by 18 percent from 2010 to 2011. Men had a vastly higher rate as it largely affects men who have sex with men. The STD also affected African Americans at a higher rate than any other racial demographic.
Los Angeles County officials have approved a ballot initiative that will ask voters to decide whether porn actors should be required to wear condoms in sex scenes.
Rihanna is spending the weekend back home in L.A. after a busy few weeks. And she was spotted shopping at Opening Ceremony with her bestie Melissa.
Rih's just been announced as a performed for the MTV VMAs. And she's biding her time by getting into verbal spats with 79-year-old comedic legend Joan Rivers. The other day, "Fashion Police" host Joan tweeted:
Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it's MY turn to slap her.
And you already know Rih came back with a one-liner. She tweeted:
Slap on some diapers
And also this (but deleted it): "@Joan_Rivers wow u really do get slow when you're old huh?
Joan tried to express her concern by following up with: "Honey, @Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he'll hit you again. Read the statistics. PS – Love to have you on Fashion Police!"
Good luck with that.

The young talent was a force in the '90s and a bit of the 2000s. But would she be as big now if she was still with us?
Tomorrow marks the 11th anniversary of the grim day when Aaliyah was killed in an airplane crash at the age of 22. The "Princess of R&B” had been in the Bahamas filming a music video for "Rock the Boat," a single from her self-titled third album. On August 25, 2001, she and seven others died in an overloaded Cessna propeller plane that took a nosedive shortly after takeoff, sending her family, fans, and music industry associates—including frequent collaborators Missy Elliott, Timbaland, R.Kelly and fiancee Damon Dash—into a tailspin of shock and grief.

After Rob Liefeld's very public break-up with DC Comics this week the meltdown continues as the creator of Deadpool conducted a battle of words via Twitter with Swamp Thing and Batman comic book writer, Scott Snyder.
Earlier this week Liefeld announced via Twitter that he was leaving DC Comics. The 2012 September zero issues for all three of titles; “Deathstroke”, “Grifter” and “Savage Hawkman” would be his last for the company
“Reasons are the same as everyone’s that you hear. I lasted a few months longer than I thought possible… Massive indecision, last minute and I mean LAST minute changes that alter everything. Editor pissing contests"
He then wrote a much more detailed account of the issues that he faced while working at DC Comics (detailed in this post). But wait, there's more! The train wreck just keeps chugging along as Scott Snyder contacted Liefeld via private messages on Twitter, and then the two took the battle public.

"I get the impression that a lot of the actors I admire are bonkers. So I think to myself, so I have to be a bit like that to be a good actor? A bit method, a bit weird? But the point of being an actor is to put yourself in someone else's shoes, not to have a troubled existence. It may be that the best art is caused by tortured souls but, I, er, don't want to be tortured. I saw a Q&A with Paddy Considine when he was asked about getting into his role during the shoot for Dead Man's Shoes. He said, 'If I'd have walked around with an axe in my hand at lunchtime I'd have felt like a twat.'"
It's thankfully hard to get an easy, celebrity handle on Joe Dempsie. He's perhaps best known for his stint in Skins as Chris Miles, a helplessly lovable, ill-fated hedonist. You may recall him as John, the villain in The Fades, the promising BBC3 drama whose premature cancellation still rankles with Dempsie. ("BBC3 do good programmes – then they cancel them. They spent a lot of money on The Fades but what's the point of spending all that and then not letting people know it's on?") Game of Thrones-heads will know him as Gendry, mostly trudging through sodden thickets evading capture and torture ("I haven't had a single scene indoors," he groans).
So different is each of these roles, they're evidence that Dempsie takes what he does seriously enough to refuse to be cast as type. In person he's affable, unassuming, full of opinions about acting on the contemporary screen but free of the cravat-fiddling airs of a luvvie. He's happier discussing the sturm und drang of his beloved Nottingham Forest FC's recent footballing fortunes.
