Let's pause here: Note how restrained that statement is. The song relies heavily on misogynist language, but Christina didn't even spend her entire critique talking about that—she complimented Tony on the performance and gave a barely passing mention of the fact that the lyrics are problematic, yet it still earned her the misogynist wrath of Tony's coach, Adam.

A really interesting read. And an awesome explanation as to why people are upset with Adam Levine and Tona, and why the reaction to what Christina said is problematic.
Andy Cohen stepped away from the host position to sit down as a guest opposite Stephen Colbert on "The Colbert Report" (Weeknights, 11:30 p.m. ET on Comedy Central). Cohen was there to talk about his new book, "Most Talkative: Stories from the Front Lines of Pop Culture," but Colbert nailed him immediately about his talk show.
What started as post-"Housewives" chats to a weekly show has morphed into the popular "Watch What Happens: Live," which now airs almost every night on Bravo. In very short order, Cohen has stepped right into the late night battle for viewership.
Colbert mentioned that Cohen was also Executive Vice President of Development at Bravo. "Did having that job convince you to give yourself a show on the network?” he asked.
Cohen laughed along, and proved a good match for Colbert's trademark interview techniques. The talkative host even survived a staring contest of silence with Colbert in an interview fans called a triumph of entertainment for both men.

The lawyer for the 2 masseurs suing John Travolta for sexual assault says other masseurs have come forward with similar stories and some of them will join the lawsuit.
Okorie Okorocha, who reps John Doe #1 and John Doe #2 (he says he's kept their true identities secret because they're victims of sex crimes) claims he tried settling the case involving Doe #1 discretely, telling Travolta's lawyers they could go to a private judge and keep everything confidential, but he says they shut him down.
Okorocha also says Travolta's lawyer, Marty Singer, is off base when he says Travolta was not in L.A. on January 16 -- the date the first incident allegedly occurred. Okorocha says during their initial discussions, Travolta's lawyers conceded the actor was in L.A. on the date in question.
I am seriously now annoyed at the ending of this featurette and what it basically reveals about the outcome of the people in the film. Hopefully its misleading----still excited to see this!
She doesn't want the show to end, but is hopeful the fan-favorite series will find a home on TBS if Courteney Cox and the gang do get the boot.
And it's safe to say that Philipps is no fan of how ABC has treated Cougar Town...
"It has not been fun to feel like the ugly stepsister of the network," Philipps told us today at Paul Frank's Mommy & Me celebration at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
"They moved us around, they took us off the air for months," she continued. "I do feel a little disappointed in how they've treated the show. If TBS is willing to launch the show in a real great way and we would actually have like billboards and commercials, that would be really cool."
Producers have been talking to TBS about a two-season pickup of 15 episodes each if ABC gives them the boot, according to Deadline.
Philipps says she's "really excited about the possibility" of switching networks. "I feel like if it really happens it's kind of going to be like best case scenario for all of us," she said.
Hopefully the rest of the cast is as gung-ho about the move as Philipps is. "The terms of the matter are we don't have a choice," she laughed. "Gung-ho or not, get on the train!"
A rep for ABC declined to comment for this story.

The self-described "Painter of Light" died on April 6 of an acute combination of ethanol and Diazepam intoxication, or in common terms, of alcohol and the tranquilizer marketed as Valium, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office said.

55,000 albums and 151,000 tracks sold last week

The outpouring of love for the late Adam Yauch (aka MCA) of Beastie Boys continues, in the form of album and track sales. According to Billboard, the trio sold 55,000 albums last week, marking a sales bump of 1,235 percent (they'd sold 4,000 the previous week).
This means that Licensed to Ill-- the first rap album to ever top the Billboard 200 chart-- is at number 18 after selling 19,000 copies. Solid Gold Hits, Paul's Boutique, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, Ill Communication, Check Your Head, and Beastie Boys Anthology: The Sounds of Science are also now in the Billboard 200.
Billboard also reports that the Beastie Boys sold 151,000 downloads last week, a 949% gain from the 14,000 they sold the week before.
Keep in mind that Yauch's death was announced on Friday, so a full week of sales was not included. Next week could see an even bigger bump, as Billboard points out.

Twitch have broken the news, marking a rather surprising twist in the casting of the highly anticipated film based on a spec script by literary master Cormac McCarthy. In a project that has seen a ton of names come up to bat looking to for a role, Diaz is a name that hasn't been mentioned, and really, isn't quite in the same calibre as the other talent involved. But it looks like she has impressed all the right people and is taking on a role that is very much outside her wheelhouse.
Reports have bene conflicting about which roles actresses have sought, but according to Twitch, Jolie was looking at the role of Malkina (some said she was toying with the smaller part of Laura), the Almodóvarean femme fatale of the film. Penelope Cruz was last reported to be kicking the tires on the part but it looks like the Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie power couple casting for the movie won't be panning out. Sorry tabloids. But hell, this marks the bravest role Diaz has taken on, well, ever.
The story follows an attorney (Michael Fassbender) who is in search of a big payday after he proposes to his girlfriend, Laura. So he hooks up with Reiner (Bardem), an acquaintance with deep criminal ties, for a new business proposition: they'll take $20 million worth of cocaine from south of the border and offload it themselves, aided by the no-good Westray (Pitt). As you might imagine, things do not go well for anyone involved. In the script, Malkina is a hyper-sexualized Argentinean woman who's hooked up with Reiner, and it's pretty meaty part all around. But obviously, it has be tweaked to fit Diaz and like we said, she's never really done anything like this ever, so it's a ballsy move.
We'd wager Jolie's "Maleficent" scheudling ultimately couldn't be worked out, as the two projects were more or less gearing up to start rolling around the same time. But holy hell, this is pretty much out of left field and we'll be curious to see if Diaz can pull this off.

And though it makes me cry sometimes, it has been really amazing and moving to see.
Chances are good that if you have an Internet connection, you’re already aware of how Harmony Korine spent his spring break. Photos from the Florida set of Korine’s latest film, Spring Breakers—some taken by paparazzi, many shot by the cast and crew themselves—began appearing online in March, quickly invading Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and virtually every other image-sharing social-media channel, and instantly generating the kind of viral buzz that ought to be the envy of every big studio marketing department in the country. In fact, Spring Breakers hadn’t even wrapped shooting (and won’t be in theaters until later this year at the earliest) when images of the film’s principals—Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Benson clad in neon bikinis, and James Franco done up as a gun-toting vision of Kevin Federline by way of The Dude—passed into pop culture’s visual lexicon. “I liked the idea of the film as a social experiment,” says Korine. “It was like there were two movies—the actual movie, and then the one that the media, paparazzi, and the people tweeting photos were also creating.”

Marvel's The Avengers is now a runaway train and it will be interesting to see when will the film hit $1 billion mark at the global box office. This past weekend the Joss Whedon directed film crushed the domestic opening weekend record with amazing $207 million in just 3 days (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part2 held that record until now).
Forbes predicts that Marvel's The Avengers will top an incredible $1 billion by the end of next weekend. At the very least, it's expected to have no trouble reaching $900 million by Sunday, although less conservative estimates have it on course for much more. Earlier today, it was revealed that the superhero ensemble has grossed $702 million worldwide, and after taking an additional $18.9 yesterday, it only needs to make half of that per day for the rest of the week and it will have still amassed a whopping $100 million domestically by close of business on Sunday. All it then needs to do is earn a further $98 million internationally (by no means a difficult feat for the critically acclaimed blockbuster) and it is guaranteed to hit the $900 million mark mentioned above. However, based on its performance thus far, it's far more likely that it WILL hit $1 billion, simply by earning an additional $50 million domestically and overseas. Considering it made a good $40 - $50 million more than was initially predicted this past weekend, this doesn't seem at all hard to believe. What do you think? Be sure to sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

Such timing - barely a month before she begins her much-hyped international concert tour, Madonna's latest album MDNA has dropped from the top 50 music charts this week. On Amazon.com, the album is at number 63, while on iTunes it's a dismal number 250. "The tour will go on without a promotional tool or a song on the radio. It's not the best way to do things," says Forbes magazine. Perhaps this calls for a rethink of the set list for her sold-out shows, making sure it's not heavy with tracks from the new album.
As per Madonna and her manager's non-traditional promotional campaign, a few numbers at the opening MDNA Tour show in Tel Aviv on May 31st are to be filmed and used for more promo.
Should Madonna's tour setlist consist of 90% MDNA tracks like her previous tours promoting new albums, or should she stick to classics since the public hasn't latched onto MDNA?

Emma Watson thinks it's "sad" when women "hide themselves" behind layers of make-up.
The British actress is famed for her understated beauty, and avoids wearing cosmetics during the day. Emma thinks more females should embrace their natural look
"I love French pharmacies. I'm obsessed - I could spend hours. They take a very medical, pharmaceutical approach to the face," she said in the latest issue of UK magazine Glamour.
"I love the French - less is more look - there's something very classy about it. It's so sad when people hide themselves behind too much make-up."
Emma has revealed the secret behind her glowing complexion. The 22-year-old star has also shared her other top beauty trick.
"I love having facials. I think it makes more of a difference to how I feel than a full-body massage does. You feel so fresh and new. And eyedrops… genius! The anti-redness ones are so good," she smiled.
Emma caused a buzz after cutting off her signature long locks after the end of Harry Potter filming. The beauty says her tresses reflect her state of mind.
"This sounds so ridiculous, but if you analyze what I've done with my hair over the years, it always matches my moods. Cutting off all my hair was all about getting rid of Harry Potter, and going dark was about mourning the end of Potter," she explained.
"I'm told, 'Please, please grow your hair, so we can do different roles."

The modern-day American take on the great detective has "enough differences" to Sherlock says its star
Elementary star Jonny Lee Miller says the US update of Sherlock Holmes, for which he recently filmed the pilot, has "enough differences" to Sherlock to make it worthwhile.
Asked about the similarities to the BBC show, Miller admitted "Yeah, obviously you look at it and say, “Wait a second ... " But I feel there’s enough differences there. I thought I could do something with it; otherwise, there’d be no point."
Miller and co-star Lucy Liu - who plays a female Doctor Watson to his Sherlock Holmes - have just finished shooting a pilot for Elementary.
"We’re still waiting to hear what happens with it. We’re not sure yet; we’re taking it slowly," Miller told Vulture. "But it was just a great project. And a good opportunity for me. So that’s the way you weigh those things."
When American network CBS first announced plans to do their own modern-day take on the great detective, Sherlock's executive producer Sue Vertue (wife of co-creator Steven Moffat) called the prospect of a similar show "worrying".
"[CBS] approached us a while back about remaking our show," she told The Independent. "At the time, they made great assurances about their integrity, so we have to assume that their modernised Sherlock Holmes doesn't resemble ours in any way, as that would be extremely worrying.
"We are very proud of our show and like any proud parent, will protect the interest and wellbeing of our offspring," she added.
Playing a similar character to Cumberbatch is not a first for Miller - he regularly swapped roles with his co-star in the National Theatre production of Frankestein last year, in which the two took turns to play both the creature and his creator. The National Theatre Live production is set to be re-released in UK cinemas this June, and will be available in US theatres for the first time later in the year.
This show has so many haters. Is anybody out there actually looking forward to watching Elementary besides me? :-)

What was your first reaction to the news about Tommy?
It would have been surprising news with most bands, but especially with Tommy. I think the reason that a lot of people have been so surprised – at least from what I've seen over the last day – is that a lot of people saw the band as "masculine," for lack of a better word. Their music is so aggressive and his voice was so deep and raw and all these these things we associate with maleness. It seemed like a very male band. It's the kind of band where most of their fans are angry teenage boys, so it became especially surprising to me in that context. That obviously doesn't have anything to with with how Tommy feels inside, but it's sort of ironic within the context of this band.
Tell me about your first meeting with Tommy.
Tommy was playing a show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York at the end of March. I went to soundcheck and met her afterwards. She said, "I have a meeting to go to. Can you walk with me because I don't know my way around the city." At first I thought she was easily lost, but I realized she just wanted to go talk away from everyone else. At this point nobody on the tour knew, and very few people outside of her immediate family knew either. On this walk we ran into Jay Weinberg, the drummer for Against Me!, and Tommy stopped talking and just went, "Hey Jay!" They talked about the show for a bit. She told me later that Jay didn't know yet. That's how small the circle was. Even the drummer in the band didn't know.

Miranda Cosgrove is giggling like crazy, helpless against a wave of nervous laughter. The übersuccessful star of Nickelodeon's iCarly knows it's not funny. But she can't help herself. "It's super embarrassing!" she says.
Miranda, who just turned nineteen, is seated at a chill West Hollywood restaurant—dressed in a black, oversize Wildfox Couture sweater and about a million beaded bracelets—talking about a typical rite of passage: her first fender bender. Seated behind the wheel of a brand-new Porsche Cayenne (the big one), Miranda and a friend had just hit up the drive-through at the local In-N-Out Burger when they spotted her friend's crush. "We rolled down the window to say hello," the actress says. "Then she wanted us to take off quickly—to look cool! She's like, 'Back up!' I put the car in reverse and ran really fast into a pole." There's that giggle again.

A sequel to the 1999 movie 10 Things I Hate About You has been confirmed.
Hayley Atwell has been cast in the follow-up 10 Things I Hate About Life.
It will be written and directed by Gil Junger, who penned the first film.
Junger told the publication that the inspiration for the new film was the suicide of a man at a scenic overlook.
"It is the story of two relatable, ordinary people with normal jobs and normal desires whose seemingly great lives have become unmanageable," he said.
"Two people who go to the same place at the same time to end it. … Their chance meeting is so awkward, so raw, and so funny, they postpone their intentions and go their separate ways."
The film will be produced by Intandem Films and Mad Chance, the latter of which produced the original.
10 Things I Hate About You starred Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and was loosely based on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew.
...what? ETA: I have no idea how this constitutes a sequel... that's what Digital Spy seems to think it is!

Fox has made its first series pickups of the season for three half-hours.
The network has ordered to series Ned Fox Is My Manny, a half-hour comedy based on the life of writer/executive producer Dana Fox's brother, Ben.
The single-camera comedy stars Dakota Johnson as a single mother who gets an assist from her brother (The Descendants scribe Nat Faxon) who moves in with her to help raise her baby. Lucy Punch, Maggie Jones and Echo Kellum co-star in the single-camera comedy from 20th Television and Chernin Entertainment.
From How I Met Your Mother scribes Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris, The Goodwin Games stars Becki Newton, Scott Foley and Jake Lacy as siblings who inherit their late father's fortune -- if they agree to his terms. The single-camera family comedy hails from 20th Television and co-stars Felisha Terrell and Melissa Tang. The HIMYM trio created the project with Newton in mind after the actress guest starred on their CBS hit, which has already been renewed for next season.
The Office's Mindy Kaling stars as a young Bridget Jones-type doctor as she tries to navigate her personal and professional life in Mindy. Kaling will depart the NBC staple to focus on writing, executive producing and starring in the comedy, a passion project for the actress. The Office's Howard Klein will executive produce alongside Kaling and her now-former co-star, BJ Novak, who served as an EP on the pilot. Ed Weeks, Chris Messina, Anna Camp, Zoe Jarmon and Dana DeLorenzo co-star, while Bill Hader, Ed Helms and Richard Schiff will guest star in the pilot. From Universal Television, the single-camera comedy was is considered a big pickup for the studio as it was one of only a handful of off-network projects ordered to pilot this development season.
In the new issue of The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actress talks about her angry youth (she's just a girl from France's version of the Bronx), her next movies (she plays a paraplegic whale trainer in Jacques Audiard's "Rust and Bone," and eco-minded businesswoman Miranda Tate in Christopher Nolan's new Batman film) and her most exciting role to date (as mom to French hunk Guillaume Canet's baby son).

Stuck in traffic on the way to the finale of The Voice tonight, I felt a palpable excitement, PopWatchers. Last night’s epic battle of Jermaine Paul, Chris Mann, Juliet Simms, and Tony Lucca had featured such fireworks – both literal and (yes, Adam) metaphorical – I felt certain that I was about to bear witness to a dramatic spectacle! Would Christina punch Adam in the face? Would Tony Lucca’s wife rip out Christina’s weave? Would audience members spontaneously combust in the heat? I did not know, but I was prepared for anything.
Sadly, the answer turned out to be: none of the above. It was a somewhat languid finale for those of us there in person, as the heat in the soundstage led not to combustion, but wilting. It took very little time for Bill the Warmup Dude to inform us that we were the quietest audience ever. “Your clapping should be contagious, like a cold,” Bill told us. “I need your applause to be real applause, with both hands making noise.” Eventually he gave up, and just told everyone that Justin Bieber would be performing later. That did the trick.

She may only be 25-years-old, but judging by her appearance at a New York event tonight, Lindsay Lohan's youthful looks are falling by the wayside. The actress displayed a puffy 'pillow' face, along with unsightly dark eyebrows and a botched blotchy fake tan at the television upfronts event for the A&E U.S. network. Her lips also looked suspiciously pillow-like as she posed for photographs on the red carpet.
Unfortunately for the Mean Girls star, the flashes from the bank of red carpet photographers only served to highlight the patchy make-up job. The actress had clearly made an effort with her dress, stepping out in a black and gold lacy mini dress and spiky heels. Lohan has been making a recent effort to relaunch her career, making a guest appearance on hit show Glee and meeting up with film director Woody Allen.
The star has always been a fan of the spray tan, and has her own range of self tanning lotion. She was at the upfront event - a vehicle for promoting the network's upcoming shows to advertisers - after being signed to play Elizabeth Taylor in a new Lifetime movie. Shooting for the film is set to begin in Los Angeles on June 4, but as yet, no male actor has been cast to play Taylor's two-time husband Richard Burton in the project.

Warner Bros announced that the third Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park will be built in Osaka, Japan's Univeral Studio Japan resort starting in the coming weeks, with a tentative opening of late 2014. The first park opened in Orlando June 2010, with an expansion set to open sometime in 2014 (Diagon Alley); and the second (though third in terms of scheduled open) will be at Universal Studios Hollywood in LA, with an open of sometime in 2016.
The announcement will officially be made at the park sometime later today (it's already Thursday morning in Japan), with WB/Universal execs and actors James and Oliver Phelps attending.
"I was delighted to experience and enjoy the attention to detail, creativity and superb craft that went into the first Wizarding World in Orlando. I am equally delighted that the same level of expertise and enjoyment will translate to the new park in Japan," said J.K. Rowling.

Source; for those ready to complain about where these theme parks are being built, realize that Universal owns the rights and obviously they'd only be built at their parks worldwide.
Ever since 2008′s Iron Man, the Marvel movies have all featured cute little scenes after the end-credits which tease the next big Marvel movie. These scenes tend to feature some piece of comic-fetishist lore that causes fans to shriek while leaving the average civilian scratching their head. Iron Man introduced Nick Fury and the notion of “the Avengers initiative.” Iron Man 2 offered the first look at Thor’s hammer. Thor trotted out Fury again, this time introducing the Tesseract — a double-tease for Captain America and Avengers. In turn, Captain America just ended with a full-on Avengers trailer. Now, Avengers has concluded with the most mythologically explosive — and potentially confusing — end-credits sequence yet. If you’re a Marvel neophyte desperate for an explanation — or if you’re a comic book fan looking for theories about what’s ahead — then read on.

Though I can’t say this for certain, I’m going to go out on a limb and say there’s never been an another television announcer in broadcast history who appeared in an on-camera sketch sitting shirtless in a kiddie pool with a cabana boy on each arm.
But that was Joel Godard, and he did it with style.( Collapse )
I love Joel! What are your favorite Joel moments? This is one of my favorite images, tbh:

When Fox showed a promo earlier this month for "The Choice" as a parody of the hit NBC singing competition series "The Voice," viewers might have believed they were in for yet another singing series.
Not so with "The Choice," which will be a new celebrity dating show featuring celebrities looking for love. Some named on May 9 include Carmen Electra, Rob Kardashian, model Tyson Beckford, Joe Jonas and "Jersey Shore" stars Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Paul "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio.
In total there will be 21 celebrities and athletes looking to be hooked up with non-famous civilian singles and the show will be hosted by "So you Think You Can Dance" host Cat Deeley.

"The Choice" is set to premiere on Fox on June 7 at 9 p.m.
Joe Jonas in training for his episode:
Director Martin Scorsese is putting together one hell of a cast for his next project, The Wolf of Wall Street. Based on Jordan Belfort’s memoir, Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a hard partying, drug addicted stockbroker who was indicted in 1998 for security fraud and money laundering and served a 22-month federal prison stretch. Oscar nominee Jonah Hill recently joined the cast as Beflort’s close friend and business partner, and now Deadline reports that Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler is signing on to play the FBI agent who built the case against Belfort and took him down.
Chandler has landed some fantastic roles after wrapping the final season of FNL (for which he won the Best Actor Emmy). He’s currently filming Kathryn Bigelow’s drama about the hunt for Osama Bin Laden, Zero Dark Thirty, he stars opposite Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe in Broken City, and he’ll be seen later this year in Ben Affleck’s very promising period drama Argo. It’ll be interesting to see if Scorsese makes good on his promise to use 3D on all his post-Hugo projects, but either way he’s lining up a fantastic cast for The Wolf of Wall Street.
Aside from marquee names of Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, and the rest, you might have seen a few more familiar faces playing bit parts in "Marvel's The Avengers." Here's a list of some of those "Where do I know them from?" actors who appear in the blockbuster comic book flick, including a SPOILERY description of their role and a list of credits that might answer that question.

Kiefer Sutherland has had a long relationship with FOX after years of "24." That partnership is continuing. FOX just renewed his hour long drama "Touch" for Season 2. The show tells the story of Martin Bohm (Sutherland) and his autistic son Jake (David Mazouz) who doesn't speak but sees patterns in everyday things that connect the world.
Two other shows weren't so lucky. FOX has canceled both "Alcatraz" and "The Finder." This move wasn't unexpected since the ratings were less than stellar. The science fiction/prison drama's numbers went down every week and "The Finder" didn't find an audience. That show's series finale will air Friday, May 11.
Were you watching "Alcatraz" or "Touch?" Did you lose interest? Are you watching "Touch?" That show's audience has remained steady and seems to be getting more word of mouth as it goes on. Let us know your feelings about the FOX announcements below.
Not really disappoint about Alcatraz or The Finder. Glad about Touch though.
The Secret Circle season one finale airs tomorrow night, capping off an uneven 22 episode run that swung violently between stellar highs and laughable lows -- but that's totally typical in your average freshman series as the cast and crew attempt to navigate treacherous inaugural waters.
In anticipation of the finale, titled Family, I caught up with Secret Circle EP Andrew Miller for a refreshingly frank conversation about the mistakes that were made, the opportunities that were missed and the moments that made this season utterly incredible.

Watch the season finale tomorrow night! TSC's gotten so much better since the winter hiatus; the show's hit its stride and it would suck to see it canned before it really got a chance. With enough of a ratings boost, there's still a shot it'll get a renewal. And good on Andrew for recognizing how amazing Jessica Parker Kennedy is.
Adam Sherman (Hapiness Runs, producer of Wristcutters: A Love Story) returns behind the camera for his second film, and Apple have debuted the first trailer ahead of its July release in the US.
Though it won’t be topping the box office (going up against The Amazing Spider-Man), it looks promising and will hopefully find its audience.

Madeline Zima (Californication, Heroes) co-stars alongside Jake Busey (Good Vibes) and Tania Raymonde (Lost), with Sherman directing from a script he co-wrote with newcomers Dave Reeves and Rachel Hardisty.
Haas and Zima are both brilliant in what I’ve seen of them to date, and I’m looking forward to seeing them opposite each other here.
Crazy Eyes will be released in the US on 6th July, after debuting at SXSW earlier this year.
Do want. My kind of film!
