Joss Whedon has the kind of credibility that only comes from repeated failure. To his intensely devoted fans, Whedon is nothing less than a genius, the hyperliterate auteur who created the cult hit “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and would have minted a half-dozen other self-aware genre franchises by now if it weren’t for the eternal obtuseness of network and studio executives.
Which is why they’re all the more frenzied about this week’s opening of “The Avengers.” After years of treating Whedon like a cog, one of those corporate behemoths — Disney’s Marvel Entertainment — has finally cottoned to the obvious: that there’s no one in Hollywood better cut out to make a superhero flick that hardcore nerds will embrace and civilians won’t be embarrassed to see.
I spoke to Whedon in early April, in the midst of a flurry of activity that was intense even by his standards. Within a span of a couple days, he had finished post-production on “The Avengers”; started post-production on a self-financed adaption of “Much Ado About Nothing”; finished shooting on another self-financed film, “In Your Eyes,” which he wrote; and debuted a documentary about Comicon which he produced and Morgan Spurlock directed. A week after our interview, “Cabin in the Woods,” a horror film he co-wrote and produced, opened.
Whedon hates spoilers, so here’s a spoiler alert: This interview is long. Unlike the suits at Fox, I don’t think I know better than Whedon what form his words ought to take, so I’m presenting them more or less verbatim. Read on if you’re interested in learning:
-the secret of multitasking
-Whedon’s advice for would-be filmmakers who aren’t born into screenwriting dynasties like he was
-why he doesn’t use Twitter
-how he feels about the possibility of another director resurrecting “Buffy”
-why you shouldn’t invite Batman to Thanksgiving dinner
-what his favorite superhero movies are
-why “Firefly” and “Dollhouse” were completely different kinds of failures
-why he started a “microbudget” studio of his own
-how he realized that his most famous character is really his own alter ego
-what he plans to do next. (Hint: You haven’t seen the last of Dr. Horrible.)The Wanted Tease Potential US Tour Plans With Chris Brown
The 'Gold Forever' stars also told Capitalfm.com that a collaboration between the artists is still very much on the cards if they can find the right song. The Wanted have revealed that they could be set to go on tour with Chris Brown in the US this July.
Singer Max George confessed: "Scooter - our manager – told us the other week that they'd spoke. We met Chris Brown – he came in and saw us at the studio when we were rehearsing – and he was actually really sound.
"He said he liked our music and stuff. He'd spoke to Scooter since then and said he'd love to do a song with us so who knows. If it's the right song then we'll do it."
Tom Parker added: "There's talk about us, he's got his American tour coming up in July, maybe we'll go on that for a few shows which will be cool. Hitting that urban market – The Wanted go urban."
Capital revealed last month that the two artists had met up during their time in Los Angeles and Chris is still yet to announce tour dates in support of his new album 'Fortune' which will be released on 29th June.
How do you all feel about this? Everyone should send them a tweet saying what a bad idea this is.

But every silver lining has a cloud. Yesterday, Samuel L. Jackson — Marvel Studios mascot and highest-grossing actor in movie history — took to Twitter to complain about New York Times movie critic A.O. Scott’s review of Avengers. “#Avengers fans,NY Times critic AO Scott needs a new job! Let’s help him find one! One he can ACTUALLY do!” tweeted Jackson.
Thirty years ago, Duran Duran set the pop charts alight with their sempiternal summer hit, "Rio." Aside from bringing an accessible take on the New Romantic movement to the bedroom stereos of teenage girls, the song's music video is also the British act's most iconic aesthetic moment, bringing together the soon-to-be ubiquitous MTV paragon of rock stars, supermodels and yachts for the first time. (It also features an excellent sax solo on a makeshift raft.) Filmed by Russell Mulcahy (who also directed their "Hungry Like The Wolf" clip) in 1982, on the famous Eilean ketch in Antigua, "Rio" is part of the band's Grammy-winning "travelogue" series that established them as music video pioneers during MTV's salad days. It also sees the Duran boys decked out in swanky Antony Price suits, a testament to the power of pastel-charged androgyny in early Eighties fashion. Overall, a collision of style and sound worth commemorating in 2012.
Built in 1936, the Eilean ketch sadly fell into disuse in later years but has recently been bought and resurrected by Italian luxury watch brand, Panerai. After three years of restoration, Eilean is happily back at home in Antigua, where she competed in the country's Classic Yacht Regatta on April 24th. In celebration, Panerai nabbed Duran Duran to take part in the festivities, engineering a glamorous visual flashback moment for Duran Duran fans, Regatta enthusiasts, and those who appreciate the finer things in life.

The Office star Jenna Fischer basically only says smart things, because she is great. But the still-new mom’s most recent truthbombs couldn’t have come at a better time. As tabloids and women’s magazine alike go bananas over Beyonce‘s rapid weight loss (due to a grueling personal training schedule) just months after giving birth, and circle like vultures to see if Jessica Simpson is going to keep eating deep-fried Poptarts, Fischer told Celebuzz that the pressure for celebs to immediately get skinny has gotten “out of control.”
