Jon Hamm: 'Lindsay Did A Great Job'

Friends With Kids star Jon Hamm stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week and answered some of Ellen DeGeneres' burning questions. The host needed to know if Jon was really on Saturday Night Live as a backup host in case Lindsay Lohan didn't show up or was it just a joke?

"No, it was a joke," Jon explained on Ellen's show. "Lindsay did a great job. I have a good relationship with all of the people over there and I happened to be in town and they were like, 'Would you do this thing. Could you come by?' Any chance I get to go to 30 Rock, I'm down. So, it was really fun."

Ellen also asked Jon about his role in the Oscar-nominated film, Bridesmaids, and whether or not he knew it would be such a big hit.

"I think that movie surprised everybody involved with it," Jon said. "I was particularly surprised when I showed up to work and I got my costume, which consisted of a beige thong."

And to that, the ladies in the audience cheered loudly.

You can see Jon in theaters again this weekend in Friends With Kids.

So far she's gotten support from Alec Baldwin, Zooey Deschanel, Jimmy Fallon, Jay Leno, Jon Hamm, Paul Rudd, and Rita Wilson and scored highest ratings for a female host for the season, and 2nd best overall. Good job, Lindsay!

Jamie Oliver cries foul over his weight, but 'thank you for noticing, you b*tch'

FAT-busting British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has bristled at suggestions he is carrying extra weight and should follow his own advice and shed some kilos.

Oliver, who admitted he was not thinking straight yesterday after "a few drinks" the night before, used colourful language when asked if he was heavier than when last Down Under.

"I don't know. I am very healthy. I think the last time I had a filling in my teeth, which was quite recently, I was in good nick. But really, I am not really sure," Oliver said. "Are you from a tabloid? Thank you for noticing, you bitch," he quipped.

Goldie Hawn in London

Goldie Hawn appeared a little worse for wear early Thursday after a late night on the town in London. Hawn appeared to be having an excellent time following a fundraiser Wednesday night at Annabel's member’s club in Mayfair for her philanthropic organization, the Hawn Foundation.

She looked a ‘tad’ disheveled as she was ushered into a limo at 4:30 am local time by her literary manager, Alan Nevins. Also at the event were Goldie’s daughter Kate Hudson and partner Matthew Bellamy.

Goldie’s charity, the Hawn Foundation, is aimed at kids to enhance “vital social and emotional skills, to improve academic performance, enhance the quality of their lives and work with others in their community.”

Mad Woman, Bad Girl

Waiting for Elisabeth Moss on the rooftop of Hollywood's Sunset Tower Hotel, it's impossible not to conjure her Mad Men character, Peggy Olson: the mousy hair, the dowdy dresses, the prickly bookishness.

But the rockabilly black boots that appear on the poolside terrace belong to an entirely different creature-a thoroughly modern Moss. Sporting cut-off jeans and a tantalizing black tank, with a fedora crowning her chin-length hair, the 29-year-old vibrates with sexy confidence.

Where's the pasty skin of the frequently maligned 1960s ad copywriter she plays on TV? Or the sealed lips of the prim star who won't say a word about her love life, let alone her whirlwind 11-month marriage to Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen?

Not on this rooftop.

This glowing, dewy-faced woman is eager to open up. She's cheery, funny and sincere-any girl would long to be her BFF (and ask if she's down for trading outfits). Moss pops some gum and a big grin, folds a stylish pair of gold shades into her low-cut top and dives into gabbing.

First order of business: the startlingly voluptuous photo spread she just shot for Page Six Magazine.

"People will be surprised," she laughs. "I don't walk around in a Burberry trench coat and bra all the time, but it's fun to embrace that part of yourself. I think every woman has a sexy, adventurous side."

Moss, who is off to New Zealand to star as a detective in the new BBC miniseries Top of the Lake, confesses she's feeling a bit seductive these days.

"Sometimes you just wanna wear somethin' real tight and show it all off," she says, blue eyes twinkling. "Lately I've been in that mood."

Any reason she's feeling so...revealing?

Oh Pottermore?

We’re pleased to announce that will be open to everyone in early April 2012.

We know that the extended wait for those wishing to be part of Pottermore has been frustrating, and we’d like to thank you all for your patience so far.

Many of you are interested to know why we extended the original opening date beyond October of last year.

We always knew Pottermore would be incredibly popular, which is why we made the decision to only open to one million Beta users to begin with. We wanted to make sure that we had a really good understanding of how people want to use the site and which bits we’d need to modify before giving more people access.

We gathered some incredibly useful feedback from our Beta users, and it became clear that our original platform wouldn’t be suitable when millions more users came on to the site. So we made a big decision: to move Pottermore to an entirely different platform set up. This ‘invisible’ change has involved a lot of work behind the scenes but it will enable our users to get the best from Pottermore as it grows and develops.

There have definitely been some challenges and the whole Pottermore team has been working really hard to incorporate all the Beta activity and feedback. This means that over the coming weeks and months we’ll be adding exclusive content and many more exciting features (such as sounds) to Pottermore for you to explore, share and discover. -- about damn time!

So get ready to join the Pottermore journey – the wait is nearly over.

Ok...we all know that Pottermore...flopped...but I would like to point out to those who did get in...WHEN ARE WE GETTING CHAMBER OF SECRETS. I NEED MORE STORIES DAMMIT. IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES THIS SHIT WORTHWHILE...besides being sorted.

Dita Von Teese slams skinny models and turns them away in favour of curvy women

Skinny models were given the 'axe' ahead of Dita Von Teese's debut lingerie launch, it has been revealed.

The 39-year-old designer and burlesque star instead plumped for a team of buxom girls to make the most of her Von Follie range which launched last month.

Proud of her own voluptuous figure, Von Teese has also starred in the underwear campaign promoting key pieces which include sophisticated knickers, stockings, suspenders and bras.

She will also appear on the catwalk this weekend at the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival on behalf of Target Australia, where her brand is currently retailed.

'We gave a lot of models the axe for being too skinny - we probably turned away a dozen,' she told the Herald Sun in Melbourne.

'It's important to me [that] we show curvaceous women and fuller-figured girls... Lingerie looks terrific on girls with shape.'

Each of them will choose two singers to be their duet partners for weekly performances with one winner getting a recording contract with Hollywood Records.

Why A Nightmare on Elm Street is the Perfect Horror Movie

(From House of Geekery) Released in 1984, A Nightmare on Elm Street was hardly the first slasher movie, but it was certainly in a league of its own. Instead of another giant silent stalker, ANOES presented us with a more original villain; the incorrigible Freddy Krueger.  Instead of being mute he mocked his victims and their fear. Instead of following them at a slow pace, he popped up in front of them and moved with an inhuman ability. And most frightening of all, he killed you in your dreams.

Freddy Krueger was a child murderer who was killed by the town’s parents to protect their children. Now, years later, he has come back to haunt those children (now frisky teenagers) and kill them in their dreams. Wes Craven took something peaceful and non-threatening and turned it against us. Usually when we watch a scary movie we sit in bed in the dark and try to fall asleep so that we can forget being afraid. But with Freddy, it’s the very sleep itself that we dread.

Birth of the GIF

If you were to take every image ever created in the Graphics Interchange Format and order the whole lot chronologically one after the other, you'd have a flickering visual timeline of the internet itself -- from a land of "Under Construction" signs and territorial waving American flags to a laboratory for smart and beautiful commentary. That's the premise of the latest episode of PBS' "Off Book" series, a web show dedicated to the cuttingest of the cutting-edge arts, such as of course, the GIF.

In the 7-minute segment, "Animated GIFs: The Birth Of A Medium," a group of experts discuss the multi-image procrastination tool as it was once known and as its practiced today, as carefully manipulated art. They also let us know in no uncertain terms that it's pronounced "jif," not "gif" (to which we ask: can't it be both?). source

What is your favorite gif? Do you pronounce it jif or gif?

Once Upon a Time TV Guide scan and article

OUAT TV Guide Cover

There's definitely a chill in the air on the Once Upon a Time set. It's hard to keep warm as a cold winter rain falls on a picturesque town square an hour from Vancouver that's doubling for Storybrooke, Maine. But no weather, even in Canada, can match the cold contempt with which Storybrooke's mayor, Regina (Lana Parrilla), treats constituent Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) in today's scene at a town fair.

The sweet-faced young woman is only trying to be charitable, selling candles to help the local nuns, when Regina and her son, Henry (Jared Gilmore), stop at her booth. The mayor plays compassionate until the 10-year-old walks off, and then she turns to Mary Margaret and hisses, "No amount of helping nuns is going to save your soul." Brrr!

(Regina is such a fierce HBIC but I don't remember this. Was it a cut scene?)

First look at Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp in 'The Lone Ranger'

As an actor, Johnny Depp is partial to outrageous costumes and makeup, and can you blame him? Whenever the man actually resembles himself onscreen — as he did in The Tourist and The Rum Diary — the box office almost inevitably suffers. It shouldn't be a great surprise, then, that Depp has taken the opportunity to go wild as Tonto in Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger; while costuming the original TV version of Tonto was a relatively simple affair, Depp has added face paint, feathers, a big headband, what appears to be a hat made out of a dead crow, and a whole lot of necklaces. As the Ranger himself, Armie Hammer has kept any additional embroidering to a minimum — though when you've got posture and a face like that, who needs anything extra? Check out the first look at both characters, tweeted by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Contestant Belittles The Female Judges On Fashion Star

Jessica Simpson may not be the paragon of fashion “design”, per se, but she does run a billion-dollar empire. More importantly, NBC’s Fashion Star has, from the beginning, pitched itself as a show about sellable fashion, not artistic design. Which is why this exchange between Australian contestant Nicholas and judge Jessica Simpson is so terrible.

In this preview, Nicholas presents his menswear line to judges Simpson, John Varvatos, and Nichole Richie. Varvatos tells Nicholas his jacket is uninspired, which is apparently fine. But when Simpson tells Nicholas that his use of zippers is passe, he fires back.

“I think it’s a very fashion-forward piece. If you understood what’s going on right now, you’d probably understand that that’s what’s going on right now in men’s fashion.”

And it doesn’t end there. When Richie offers her equally not-so-positive thoughts, Nicholas argues that he shouldn’t have to take criticism from women on his menswear design. And while we wish we could say it ended there, that wouldn’t be good TV! Instead, watch the below clip to see how Simpson and her sassy southern roots get the last word.

Sienna Miller cover "Vogue" UK [ April 2012]

Expectant actress Sienna Miller, 30, graces the April cover of British Vogue magazine, looking refreshingly beautiful with her piercing blue eyes, pearly smile and long, blonde locks. In an accompanying interview, the A Case Of You star opens up about expecting her first child with partner Tom Sturridge, trying to keep the exciting news a well-kept Hollywood secret and her reaction to the landmark birthday of turning 30.

On her pregnancy: "I'm feeling fine. It's all progressing nicely and it's very exciting. It's nice to start a new decade."

On her reasoning behind wanting to keep her pregnancy under wraps: "I'm in my second trimester, so I'm I-can-talk-about-it pregnant, even though I'm under strict instructions not to say anything as it would completely defeat the point of everything I've tried to achieve in the last eight years."

On turning 30 years old: "I didn’t have the freak-out which I thought I would have. But maybe it’s because I’m the youngest of all my friends – so that lessened the blow. It’s nice to start a new decade."

The Dark Knight Rises Alfred & John Blake Figures Revealed

Is this the first ever action figure release of Alfred Pennyworth, the ever loyal butler of Wayne Manor?

I can’t say for sure but I know I’ve never personally seen one before. However it has to be said that no Batcave toy setup would be fully accurate without an action figure of reliable Al, a giant assed coin and the green dinosaur from your Jurassic Park set. Or Rex would work just the same from Toy Story would work just the same I suppose.

Anyway the Movie Masters line of Batman action figures for The Dark Knight Rises will include an Alfred figure with Michael Caine likeness and also one of John Blake, a Gotham cop played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

"Give It To Your Woman" Laundry Label Sparks Controversy.

A firestorm set off in a pair of men's trousers has left a British apparel company deflecting allegations of sexism and denying that it thinks laundry is strictly a woman's job.

It's not every day that clothing care instructions spark controversy. But that's what happened after British journalist Emma Barnett picked up her boyfriend's pants over the weekend while tidying the house.

Underneath the usually customary "machine wash warm" instructions, the tag offered a less appropriate option: “OR – GIVE IT TO YOUR WOMAN, IT’S HER JOB.”

Blind Gossip posts about Joe Jonas?

He used be a genuinely nice guy. Serious about his music, surrounded by people who cared about him, kind to his fans, grateful for his good fortune.

Then he surrounded himself with an entourage of users and hangers-on and everything changed. The members of this entourage are very versatile. His drummer is also his dr*g dealer. His bodyguard parties with him and engages in Twitter wars for him. The models double as esc*rts. The rest of the party crowd uses his name to hawk their wares, everything from jewelry to dr*gs. He doesn’t mind. It makes him feel popular. Then there’s the slimy actor pal who has quite the impressive track record of ruining young lives (and is about to add one more to the list).

Thanks to his choice of friends, the formerly wholesome singer started doing dr*gs last year… and hasn’t stopped since. He now drinks every day and parties every night. The party usually starts around 4 PM, the shots of Patron start at 8 PM, and then it’s constant drinking and smoking cigars and drugs until 4 or 5 or 6 AM, even when he’s scheduled to work the next day. As he gets more and more loaded throughout the night, he likes to rail about how much he hates his life, how much he hates his family, and about how he’s the one who really deserves the success one of his band mates is now experiencing.

He’s going downhill fast. He’s been blowing off writing sessions and missing rehearsals. The rest of his group (who genuinely do care about him) make excuses for him and reschedule rehearsals again and again. He doesn’t seem to care about anything except the alcohol and the dr*gs and being the king of his party entourage. He even ditched a charity event last week because he decided that he would rather go party in Miami. He has nothing but contempt for his fans (he makes fun of them and tells them to “get a life”). And all that smoking has completely ruined his voice.

Yes, he used to be a genuinely nice guy. Now he’s just an ungrateful, jealous, bitter alcoholic with a smoke-ruined voice, surrounded by users and losers, hating his fans, hating his life.

We know you’re reading this. Get help, dude.

Scoop: Downton Abbey Hottie Replaces Ryan Phillippe in CBS Drama Pilot Golden Boy

Ryan Phillippe’s loss is Theo James‘ gain

James, an English actor who played David in Underworld: Awakening as well as Lady Mary’s Turkish one-night stand gone bad on Downton Abbey, has replaced Phillippe as the star of Greg Berlanti’s CBS drama pilot Golden Boy

He’ll play the lead role of Walter William Clark, a young, ambitious police officer who rises quickly within the department — maybe too quickly — after breaking up a major drug ring and becoming a hero. Phillippe was originally cast in the role but dropped out after getting cold feet.

James joins an ensemble that also includes True Blood‘s Kevin Alejandro and Pushing Daisies Chi McBride.

NYPD Blue vet Nicholas Wootton penned the pilot and will serve as an EP alongside Berlanti.

♀ Critics LOVE Chris✞ina Aguilera's "Casa De Mi Padre" ♀

Anyway, at least Christina Aguilera’s title track for the soundtrack is serviceable enough, an immaculately sung power ballad she seems to be taking far more seriously than the movie’s personnel. (This is a compliment.) From everything that Aguilera’s said and that the music climate indicates, her Bionic follow-up will probably be something acoustic, something like the Sia-penned tracks from that album. But at the very least, this proves Aguilera’s versatile enough that she could make the move -Popdust

The new song finds Aguilera making a welcome return to Latin music. No synthesizers or AutoTune here -- instead, the production has dramatic Spanish guitars, blaring trumpets, and a gospel backing all with a flamenco twist. Aguilera's vocals are in the forefont, doing what she does best: belting and sustaining the notes most can only dream of nailing. -Billboard

The new tune boats no synthesizers or AutoTune, rather swooning mariachi sounds with dramatic trumpets, strings and Spanish guitars giving the atmosphere an authentic flamenco flavor. Aguilera slays the song with her insane range – showcasing her powerful vocal skills nicely. -MTV

Lenny Kravitz For Interview Magazine

Lenny Kravitz has evolved from a soul stirring singer into a noteworthy actor. Kravitz, who turns 48 this year, gave a memorable performance as the compassionate Nurse John in the critically acclaimed movie Precious. That acting role caught the eye of director Gary Ross, who cast Kravitz in his latest film, Hunger Games, due in theaters March 23.

In Hunger Games, contestants are chosen to fight to the death on national television. Kravitz had some interesting things to say about the film’s concept relating to today’s scripted reality shows.

Kravitz recently spoke with his longtime friend singer/songwriter/producer Raphael Saadiq for Interview magazine.

On getting the role in Hunger Games without an audition:
LENNY KRAVITZ: “Gary [Ross] saw Precious and said that he liked the character of Nurse John, so he thought I’d be right for the role in Hunger Games… So he called me down here in the Bahamas— I was actually making the album at the time. He said, “Hi, I’m making this movie called The Hunger Games. I think you’d be great. If you want it, you’ve got the part.” No audition. I was really flattered, but I had not read the book. So I downloaded it. I remember I started it late one night and I needed to go to bed—I was tired and had been recording all day and night—but I couldn’t stop reading because I was captured by the story. So I finished the book and called him back and said, “I’d love to do it.” You know, the film definitely represents these times—from government on down to reality television. It’s interesting that we’re living in these times. Really, when you go back to being in junior high school and reading George Orwell’s 1984, you’re, like, “Man, here were are . . .” Our characters have changed, our sensibilities. We’re definitely morphing into something different.”

They do have very charming chemistry! And crazier things have happened in movie divorces.

Rih posts topless pic on twitter

Few pop stars are hotter or sexier than Rihanna. She doesn’t need to prove it, but her horde of fans (especially the boys) won’t complain when she posts a super sexy topless photo on her Twitter account. However, it’s not X-rated, since she covers the “girls” with her strategically placed arm. Dare we say that the image is artfully and impulsively sexy? It’s certainly not vulgar.

RiRi tweeted the shot, with the caption: “Where have you been all my life?” which is a reference to a lyric in her song ‘Where Have You Been,’ the second song on ‘Talk That Talk.’ A later tweet revealed that RiRi is filming the video for the song. She posted: “Video shoot goin MAJAH!!! Longest day everrrrr tho!!! #WHEREhaveUbeen #stillgoin.”

But as for that topless shot? Ri looks bangin’ as usual, with her brown hair piled in a top knot on her head. She’s averted her gaze and is looking down, wearing chunky black bangles and holding what looks like a white hair piece in her hands. You can also see a lil’ flash of her belly button and toned abs. You sweating yet?

Overall, it’s what the ‘We Found Love’ singer doesn’t show that makes this photo hot.

Gabriel was hauled into court after the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services expressed concerns about the child's safety in the presence of Gabriel.

We're told additional conditions were imposed on Gabriel's visitation, and the matter has now been dropped and sent back to family court, where Halle Berry and Gabriel continue to fight over custody.

Your weekly dose of "Amber Portwood" and "Jail" in the same sentence

Amber Portwood fails to take drug test, may have to serve five-year sentence

Troubled Teen Mom star Amber Portwood is in hot water yet again, this time for reportedly not being able to make her own hot water in the form of urine for her mandatory daily drug test.

TMZ says Amber was “unable to go” on Monday when asked to provide the urine sample, which is the same as failing according to the legal savvy site.

Amber’s weekly court check-up is on Thursday, and the judge will decide at that time if the “failed” drug test is enough to force Amber to serve out her five-year sentence for her January drug conviction.

Kreayshawn: “I don’t need black fans anyways, ya’ll don’t buy albums”

Kreayshawn has horrible luck with her twitter page over the past year. Last August, somebody hacked into her twitter and posted nude photo’s of her while she was attending the VMA’s in Los Angeles. Kreayshawn later claimed that the photos taken while she was under age and demanded that they be taken off the internet.

Well, last night Kreayshawn’s twitter was hacked yet again and someone (aka her) posted a series of racist tweets that angered many of her fans. The tweets said:

“I don’t need black fans anyways, ya’ll don’t buy albums. Sometimes I wish slavery was still going on”

“I can say what I want about black people. It’s not like I’m ever gonna tour Africa anyway”

“Looks like a f*cking Popeye’s just opened up in my mentions. You monkeys got your taxes back already?”

Gm guys, last nite someone hacked my page, I am sorry, I love FRIED CHICKEN! Forgive me.”

Obviously, this caused a uproar and people immediately started attacking the young rapper. Kreayshawn and her team deleted the racist tweets and put her page to private.

Kreay later tweeted that she might just hand over her twitter account to her label because she is sick of being hacked: I really hate twitter that’s why I blocked my tweets. Damn near bout to give my account up to my record label and have them tweet for me.

Who the fuck added the interview tag? This is not an interview. It's an article about tweets.

Cops Who Sold Photo Of Rihanna Beaten Identified?

After a long 30 month Internal Affairs investigation, two LAPD officers have been identified as being the primary suspects who sold the picture of Rihanna battered and beaten after she was assaulted by Chris Brown, to TMZ.

Rebecca Reyes and Blanca Lopez, who have been on a 30 month paid administrative leave, could face possible termination if the Internal Affairs Group (IAG) investigation results with them being held responsible.

Reyes was assigned to work the case shortly after the incident occurred
, according to police reports. Lopez on the other hand, who was a rookie cop at the time, was never assigned to work on the investigation regarding Chris Brown assaulting Rihanna. The two police officers were however, roommates at the time, so the two of them are being seriously investigated.

LAPD spokesman, Officer Cleon Joseph deemed the investigation a "confidential matter" and refused to comment on the matter further.

American Idol judges banned from mentioning 'The Voice'

Is there a cutthroat competition brewing between ‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’? has learned exclusively that ‘AI’ producer Nigel Lythgoe is ordering the show’s judges not to utter the words ‘The Voice’ under any circumstances!

It sounds like Nigel Lythgoe wants American Idol viewers to stay focused on his reality singing competition and not that other one on NBC.

We just learned that Nigel is mandating judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler to not use the term “The Voice” under any circumstances — and we can understand why.

The Voice is averaging 19.4 million viewers, while its Fox predecessor is averaging 18 million viewers.

Regardless, Nigel’s mandate seems to be in full effect; just last night on AI‘s March 7th episode, judge Steven Tyler referred to contestant Jessica Sanchez as “the one” among the Top 13 remaining hopefuls. Source

David Lynch Wants You to Help Tell His Story

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

America's master surrealist, David Lynch, is an especially prime subject for a documentary film, seeing as how his work evokes as much curiosity as it does praise. So I'm happy to report that a group of filmmakers are planning just such a doc, with Lynch's blessing. The best part is that you can help get the film made, and get a limited art print signed by Lynch himself as a thank you. Details after the jump.

The David Lynch documentary is a Kickstarter project from a group calling themselves "Lynch Three". "Our goal," they say, "is to make a film that deeply explores the influences and experiences that have helped shape one of the most distinctive voices in modern cinema: David Lynch. It has been six years since we completed the first two parts of the documentary series and we are now ready to complete the third and final part. To do this we have chosen to partially finance the film via Kickstarter so that we retain 100% creative control of the film. We're in the process of finishing the film, but need your help in order to do it. That's why we're reaching out to all David Lynch fans."

Find out how you can participate, and score that signed Lynch art print, on the film's Kickstarter page. With Lynch's participation, this is bound to be a must-see for all fans of the maestro.

Tom Hardy/Easy Rider = OTP?

Well, that didn't take long. Just one day after Tom Hardy inked a first-look deal over at Warner Bros., he's signed up for a new movie with studio.

Hardy will take the lead and produce an untitled biker pic penned by Mark L. Smith ("Vacancy," "The Hole") that takes place in the '60s, is about California's most violent biker club, but is apparently based on original idea from producer John Linson, but apparently has nothing to do with the Hell's Angels. Or least that's what the announcement in Variety would have you believe. Maybe there is legal hoola hoops in using that name, or perhaps the concept from the "Sons Of Anarchy" producer really is novel, but it's a bit odd the biker group isn't mentioned at all.

Top 50 Female British Power Players

In honor of International Women’s Day, Britain’s Women in Film and TV industry organization published a list of the Top 50 Female British Power Players. It includes women from both in front of and behind the camera as well as those working in Hollywood and the news industry. So who did (and did not) make this year’s list?

Some of the people you’re probably most familiar with are the actresses on the list. Helena Bonham Carter, Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, Dame Maggie Smith, Tilda Swinton, Queen Naomie Harris and Kate Winslet are among those named but Kate Beckinsale, Emma Watson, Rachel Weisz, Dame Judy Dench, Helen Mirren, and Emily Blunt (nor any Doctor Who companions for that matter) did not make the list.

Britain’s Women in Film and TV industry organization published the list as part of International Women’s Day Thursday March 8 with the aim of celebrating women who have impacted the film and tv industries in the U.K.,” writes The Hollywood Reporter. “To get on the list, a spokesperson for WFTV said the list, drawn up with the help of two U.K. trade publications Broadcast and Screen International, included such elements as power to get a project greenlit, impact on the viewing habits of the public in the U.K. and abroad, influence on broadcast or film culture, and even financial success.”

Collapse )

We at WFTV are very aware that women are still too few in important media jobs, worse paid in many roles and too easily pushed out of the industry as they age. But we also see the fantastic progress that women are making and we are keen to celebrate it,” wrote Kate Kinninmont, Chief Executive, WFTV UK on their website. “We’re well aware that a different team could come up with a substantially different list and we’re all agreed that we don’t have enough black or ethnic minority names on our list. Perhaps I’m inviting a deluge, but I’d be pleased to see your list –and your arguments for the inclusion of women we’ve missed out this year.”

Who do you feel is the most glaring omission?

Sneak Peek: Whitney Houston's Family Talk to Oprah

Oprah Winfrey's big get is inching ever closer to its big premiere, but while her sit-down with Whitney Houston's family, including daughter Bobbi Kristina, doesn't air until Sunday, E! Online has a first look at the interview.

Among the family members in line for an emotional outpouring is Patricia Houston, Whitney's sister-in-law and onetime manager. Though obviously devastated by the untimely death, Patricia also made no attempt to hide the fact that she always suspected a premature and tragic end to Whitney's life.

"The handwriting was kind of on the wall," she told Oprah, when asked if she thought drugs would end up taking the superstar's life. "I would be kidding myself to say otherwise."

She also noted that while, at some point in Whitney's life, she feared that the singer's destructive behavior would lead to her untimely passing, she and others truly believed that the danger period had ended.

"If things hadn't changed, but things were changing, things were really changing with her, very much so," she said. "It wasn't about the substance abuse or anything like that relative to the latter days or anything like that, I think it was more of lifestyle."
