The Grammy Awards' warm embrace of Chris Brown three years after his assault of Rihanna has drawn the ire of viewers who claim the controversial R&B star shouldn't have been rewarded with such attention.
Brown was front-and-center three times during Sunday's Grammys. He won best R&B album for "F.A.M.E.," he performed a single from his upcoming album, "Turn Up the Music," and he opened a dance tribute to "Soul Train" creator Don Cornelius.
The imagery of Brown's Grammy glory was striking because it was, literally, a return to the scene of the crime. On the eve of the 2009 Grammys, Brown beat his then-girlfriend Rihanna, for which he later pled guilty to a charge of assault and was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labor.
Since then, Brown has worked to repair his image, undergoing domestic violence counseling and rediscovering popularity with his hit album "F.A.M.E. (Forgiving All My Enemies)." Last year, his restraining order was eased. The former order required Brown to stay 50 yards away from 23-year-old Rihanna, but the restriction was reduced to 10 yards if they were at a music industry event.
On Sunday evening, Twitter was abuzz with questions of Brown's significant role in the proceedings. Many critics argued against the Grammys' decision to celebrate Brown and endorse his comeback.

Where were Beyonce and Jay-Z on Grammys Sunday?
On a pizza date in Brooklyn!
Although Jay-Z was nominated at Sunday's 54th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, he and wife Beyonce sat out the proceedings attended by peers like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Adele and others.
Instead, Beyonce, 30, and Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter), 42, took a Maybach from their home in downtown Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood to the cute Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn -- where they tucked into pizza at their favorite posh pizzeria Lucali.
Leaving one-month-old daughter Blue Ivy at home, the music super couple "were just like a regular couple talking and whatnot," a witness tells Us Weekly, adding that other patrons failed to notice them. "They were sitting in front of the place closer to where they make the pizza."
"Love on Top" singer Beyonce made sure to bid goodbye to the eatery's owner and waitress as they departed.
The fellow diner even congratulated Jay-Z on Blue Ivy's recent arrival. "He said, 'Thank you,' shook our hands, and said 'Have a good night.'"
(In absentia, Jay-Z and collaborator Kanye West won the Grammy for Best Rap Performance for "Otis," from their Watch the Throne album.)
The couple surprised fans worldwide Friday night when they posted the first-ever pics of Blue Ivy on a brand-new Tumblr site.
Explained their close pal, stylist June Ambrose: "B really really thought about this," Ambrose told Us Saturday, "and she really wanted to do it this way. She just couldn't imagine selling pictures of her baby."
And the pictures are "accurate," Ambrose added. "A girl with big full lips, she'll be a supermodel, I can't wait! And her eyes -- she's gorgeous!"
Here is the first ever image from Neil Jordan's Byzantium, about a pair of women who claim to be vampire siblings.
Having just wrapped principal photography, Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan, Caleb Landry Jones, Danny Mays, Bradley James, Sam Riley, Jonny Lee Miller and Tom Hollander all star. It is for sale at EFM in Berlin.

She had a tough time of it on The X Factor, finding herself the victim of cyber bullying and cruel jibes about her weight.
But now (X Factor winner) Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson has well and truly put her insecurities behind her, embracing her figure with pride.
The 20-year-old singer displayed her newly-toned curves, the result of frequent personal training sessions, as she hit the beach in Barbados in a variety of bikinis.
The 54th Grammy Awards, scored a giant 14.1 adults 18-49 rating and 39 million viewers, up 41% vs. a 10.0 rating and 26.7 million average viewers last season.
That was the second highest viewership in Grammy history (1984), and the best adults 18-49 ratings since 1990.
Note that the numbers for the Grammy Awards in the table below are only for the 8-11pm portion, while the numbers in the text above are for the entire show.
This winter you can have any jacket you like, as long as it’s blue.
Actor Jeremy Irvine — breakout star of Steven Spielberg’s War Horse — unpacks eight of the season’s very best for February.
“I was literally playing a tree,” says Jeremy Irvine of his last acting job prior to being snapped up by Steven Spielberg to star in the film adaptation of War Horse, Michael Morpurgo’s novel turned all-conquering stage play. It’s a self-deprecating take on life before his meteoric rise — he was actually an ensemble performer in an RSC production at the Hampstead Theatre — but then, Jeremy Irvine is still adjusting to life as a leading man.
The Bedfordshire native began his career by taking a risk, leaving the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art after only a year, opting to go it alone. “It’s tough at the start. You go to audition after audition, and you begin to question yourself as a performer.” Eventually, the risk paid off.
Fantastic. Still mad that her MDM performance was cut off. It would have slayed lbr.
Bobbi Kristina Had Similar Bathtub Incident Before Whitney Houston’s Death
Talk about eerie coincidences. Just one day before superstar pop diva Whitney Houston was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton during 2012 Grammy Awards festivities, her daughter Bobbi Kristina also fell asleep. In a tub. On the same floor. In the same hotel.
The thought is terrifying, especially considering what happened to Houston. It’s also scary since Bobbi Kristina went to the hospital twice after her mother’s death, reportedly mixing sedatives and alcohol to numb her tremendous pain.
The most recent reports indicate that Bobbi Kristina’s family fears she is suicidal. The poor girl. Our hearts break for her.
TMZ reports that on Friday night (Feb. 10), the teen’s friends knocked on the door of her hotel room, which was booked under her mother’s name, multiple times, but BK did not answer. The friends then called security to unlock the door and to help get her out of the tub. Yikes.
Again, we send our thoughts and prayers out to Bobbi Kristina, 18, as she deals with this tragedy. Judging from this incident and the fact that she reportedly mixed pills and alcohol in the wake of Houston’s death means she is on a similar path as her mother. Hopefully her father Bobby Brown can get control of this situation because we don’t want to see Bobbi Kristina suffer the same fate as her much-missed mother.
poor girl :( i wonder if she and whitney ever used together? :/
Bromances, however, don't come without their problems. Sixty percent of men in the U.S. say their relationship with their BFF causes problems with other people in their life and 16 percent of partners get jealous of their beau's bromance. It's unsurprising since nearly a third (31 percent) of guys admit to having the most fun they have with anyone with their bromantic bud and, eleven percent say it cramps their romantic style.
It seems romantic relationships, marriage and co-habiting could sound the death knell for a bromance. Of the American men that are currently in a bromance, nearly half (41 percent) are single. Bromances also tend to tail off around the age of 44 for American men and at just 34 for Brits.
Inspired by the worlds of film and TV, Americans voted Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Watson, played in the recent remake by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, their favorite bromance of all time. The iconic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid take the second spot.

New Britney music leaks! Producer Michelle Bell (who has worked with Nas, Mary J. So fucking epic. Original Doll would have slayed and buried, I can't wait for more tracks to leak.
Today is Valentine’s Day, and we asked Kate Winslet if she’s doing anything to celebrate.

His interviews are always so inspiring! So glad he overcame the adversity he faced on the set of Ridgemont High, I don't think it's an accident that everyone in that film went on to become flops! Except for Sean Penn of course but his douchebagness outweighs all of his success imo. Wifebeaters are flops no matter how many Oscars they have.
From Celebslam: Sarah Hyland stars as Haley on Modern Family and of course Ashley Tisdale was in High School Musical, and on Friday the two did a photoshoot for OP in Venice Beach. They held hands, pulled their socks way up, ate ice cream cones, and did a little rollerskating down the boardwalk. In other words, I'm pretty sure the director is a raging pedophile. "OK Ashley, now put your hair in pigtails and talk to Sarah about how much you love candy."

Nicki Minaj has said that she was disappointed in MIA for flipping her middle finger during Madonna's Super Bowl performance earlier this month (February 5).
Minaj, who was performing with Madonna on her new single 'Gimme All Your Luvin'' alongside MIA, told Billboard that she had felt "disappointment" at the hand gesture because she thought it was disrespectful to the Queen of Pop.
"I'm a cuckoo lady, too, but I would never be able to do it off the strength of Madonna," said the rapper. "There are fines that go into these things, and I just thought, 'Oh my God, I hope they don't penalize Madonna.' Madonna knows the artist MIA is and it was her decision to take the risk with all of us. We're all kind of firecrackers and she took that risk. She's done some crazy things becoming the icon that she is, so I think that's why she was able to forgive MIA."
Minaj went on to add: I love MIA and I don't want to say anything that is the wrong thing, but me personally, I couldn't see myself doing it, just for the respect for Madonna. I wouldn't want any backlash to come back on Madonna.
Last week (February 10), Madonna criticised MIA's antics and said "she wasn't happy" about the controversy as it had ruined the show's positive atmosphere.
She added: "It's kind of a teenager irrelevant thing to do in one respect, but there was such a feeling of love and unity there so what was the point? It was just out of place."
Minaj will release her new album 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' on April 3. Earlier this month (February 2), the video for her new single, 'Stupid Hoe', was banned by US television network BET for supposedly being too raunchy - scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch.
As the world continues to mourn the sudden loss of Whitney Houston, the singer's close friend, Chaka Khan, has finally broke her silence during a recent episode of CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight."
During the exclusive interview the award-winning vocalist criticized Houston's mentor and music mogul Clive Davis for continuing to host his pre-Grammys gala just hours after her death at the Beverly Hilton.
"I thought that was complete insanity," she said. "And knowing Whitney I don't think that she would've said, 'The show must go on,' she's the kind of woman who would've said, 'stop everything! I'm not going to be there.' I don't know what could motivate a person to have a party in the building where the person whose live he had influence so enormously. And whose life has been affected by hers... I don't understand how that party went on."

Hollywood actor Sean Penn has shown his support for Argentina as tensions rise between the UK and Argentina ahead of the 30th anniversary of the Falklands war.

"I think that the world today is not going to tolerate any kind of ludicrous and archaic commitment to colonialist ideology," the Oscar-winning actor said.

“I just had an audition with Miley Cyrus! How funny is that?”,
Liam is standing by the first tee recounting what he said to his brother Chris after he got his first break in Hollywood, The Last Song, a weeper about a piano prodigy with Daddy issues who cozies up to a beach-volleyball stud. The moment Liam left the audition room, in 2009, he rushed to meet up with Chris just to laugh about coming face-to-face with the Disney starlet they’d watched on TV—who’d go on to be his onscreen love interest and his offscreen girlfriend—and the absurdity of it all. “We grew up surfing and stuff,” Liam says of his family as he reaches for a pitching wedge. “That’s why we can laugh. This business is ridiculous.”
Then came the audition for The Last Song that he found so laughable. He got the job. And the girl. When Liam and Miley hooked up on the set, he was 19, she was 16—a fact he doesn’t shy away from. “What happened happened, and we’ve been together two and a half years,” he says. “She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something.”
When the film wrapped, he went home with her to Nashville, where he was introduced to the joys of Cracker Barrel and Miley’s dad, Billy Ray. “He’s very spiritual,” Liam says of Mr. “Achy Breaky Heart.” “He’s just one of the nicest guys. Very accommodating. I’ve listened to his music since we got together. It’s awesome.”
As we head down Pico Boulevard, Liam tells me about his desire to put down roots in L.A. Chris just got married, after all. “I’m sure I’ll get married one day,” he says. “But I’m only 22.” He immediately worries that his comment might become a headline about Miley—they’ve all been about her. Liam was there at her 19th-birthday party, which exploded in the tabloids after she joked about her Bob Marley cake and how she “smokes way too much fucking weed” on video. For the first time, Liam is angry. “She’s in a room full of her best friends,” he says, almost breaking a sweat. “And you have one person who comes in there and videos it. The poor girl can’t have one night where she can feel safe in her own world. It’s ridiculous.”

The Mars Volta's sixth album, Noctourniquet, comes out on March 27 with a storyline evidently drawn from Greek myth, Superman comics, and obscure British rockists. First single "The Malkin Jewel," which premiered today on Australia's Triple J Radio (via Antiquiet), is about as bewildering as that all suggests.
Already a part of the Mars Volta's live arsenal, "The Malkin Jewel" continues the band's propensity for music that displays astonishing technical complexity, but the surprise this time is a gutter-blues swagger that brings to mind Nick Cave's Grinderman. Don't expect anything as immediately communicative as Grinderman's "No Pussy Blues," though. Rather, the initial garage-rock lurch and tough-to-discern whispers about rats and vermin give way to a tedious herky-jerk bridge (pretty sure one of the lyrics involves a "bivouac" — Colin Meloy? Kevin Barnes? Is that you in there?). Everybody can play the hell out of what they're playing, but it's hard to tell how much they might be just playing with themselves.
The song ends in mid-breath, so maybe the next track on the album will help make sense of everything. Let's see, what's that one called? Oh, the title is in Russian? Right.
Mods, I posted a lq version yesterday that was taken down right after it was posted. This the offical song from the band and will not be taken down.

Told y'all this chick was planning album content while she was breastfeeding and changing diapers. Baby Blue's mom is said to be already setting up to work on a new album. And yes, B.I.C. will likely be her muse. Producer/Songwriter Ryan Tedder, who just copped an award at last night's GRAMMYS for contributing to Adele's Album of the Year, 21, revealed some generalities.
He said it goes “without saying” that Bey’s work will have some reflection on her newborn child Blue Ivy, but that “the conversations about her next album literally just happened.”
“You feed her the best that you have. She’s just a phenomenal filter… she can identify what the next thing is,” Tedder said of the “Party” girl, noting that she has “two projects happening” this year. “You just let her go.”
Say what you want about Ryan but he can produce the fuck out of an album. So excited for this! XD
Former Dexter killer Jonny Lee Miller has landed the lead role in the network's drama pilot Elementary, described as a New York-set modern take on the cases of the famed detective, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The casting marks a return to series TV for Miller, who guest starred in eight episodes as a motivational speaker with a dark secret on Showtime's Dexter. The feature actor (Trainspotting) previously starred on ABC's primetime soap Eli Stone. He has a pair of features in production: Dark Shadows and Byzantium.
Robert Doherty will write and executive produce the CBS TV Studios project, with CBS vet Sarah Timberman (A Gifted Man, Unforgettable) and Carl Beverly on board as executive producers.
Elementary is one of eight drama pilots in contention at CBS.
Try a little harder please, CBS. There's no way this won't be terrible compared to Sherlock.
That might be a little too close for comfort!

"I was paralyzed by fear and couldn't move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother 'Super Tony' jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast."

Like the company did with past Twilight releases, Summit and its parent company Lionsgate released the film at outlets like Target and Walmart on Friday night rather than on Tuesday, when most home video titles are released. In case you forgot, today was the original intended release date for Nicki Minaj’s second proper album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. (Those of you wishing to get your Valentine some new music will have to settle for the new Band of Skulls record.) That full-length will now be out in April, but Minaj wouldn’t let the pinkest of days go by without some fresh tunes.
In addition to premiering the song “Roman Holiday” on Sunday night’s Grammy Awards (more on that super-polarizing six minutes in a bit), Minaj also unveiled a new tune called “Starships,” which happens to be produced by Lady Gaga hitmaker RedOne — a deeply disturbing trend, considering she also tapped former Gaga choreographer Lauriann Gibson to design her Grammy show.
It’s super clubby and contains almost no rapping, which continues Minaj’s push into the complete opposite direction she should be heading.

As Nicki Minaj proved Sunday night (Feb. 12), with her stupefying Grammy performance -- a high-flying, religious-themed fantasia that included an exorcism and offended some Catholics -- the rapper is beyond kowtowing to critics. She says as much in the February/March issue of VIBE magazine, the cover of which The BoomBox is pleased to officially premiere Tuesday (Feb. 14).
The 'Roman Holiday' creator appears on the cover -- seen below -- decked out in a glittering crown and flowing orange wig. In the issue, she sounds off on various topics, among them the challenges she faced while recording her debut LP, 'Pink Friday,' which earned her a Best New Artist nomination at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.
"I felt like I had something to prove to everyone who said a female rapper could not make an album unless she was talking about her p----," Minaj reveals. "And so I went above and beyond to prove that I could not talk about sex and not talk about my genitalia and still have a successful album."
When asked whether it's difficult for a female artist to navigate the notoriously male-dominated industry, she responded with confidence. "It's not hard to get your way when it's your way or the highway," she says, clarifying that it's not a bad attitude but a successful business model. "In the beginning, if people didn't know me they'd probably assume I wasn't smart or wasn't business savvy. But once you sit and talk to me, it's a different story."
.....I like that crown....

Last September, Azealia Banks made a splash with her viral hit “212.” We were immediately drawn in by the Harlemite’s charming—if vulgar—tune and we weren’t the only ones. Since then, the 20-year-old Azealia has been featured in the New York Times, invited to perform at Karl Lagerfeld’s house, and is even followed on Twitter by Kanye West. Oh, and did we mention that she recently scored a major label deal with Universal? Needless to say, this girl is going places. Despite here penchanyt for “hipster-y rap,” Banks is an Uptown girl at heart who warmly recalls her teenage days of eating dollar hot dogs and a Pepsi for lunch. And she’s not a newcomer like many presume either; she’s been in the music industry for years after signing a deal with XL Recordings years ago while still a teenager.
Banks has turned heads by taking shots at (and even getting into Twitter feuds with) female rappers like Kreayshawn, Nicki Minaj, and Iggy Azalea but she wasn’t much interested in talking about them with us (“Kreayshawn doesn’t count," she explained. "We’re not talking about Kreayshawn right now. We’re talking about Azealia Banks.”) But she was more than open to tell the story of her long journey from the streets to where she now finds herself. he told us about the time she punched Diplo in the face, why her deal with XL Recordings never worked out, and what “212” is really about. So keep clicking to find out Who Is Azealia Banks...

Peter Tatchell has claimed that Whitney Houston was at her happiest in the 1980s when she was with her "lesbian partner".
The gay rights campaigner said on Twitter that Houston, who died at the weekend aged 48, was pressured into her failed marriage with singer Bobby Brown in 1992.
"Whitney Houston was happiest with lesbian partner in 1980s," Tatchell said. "Pressured into Bobby Brown marriage. It was downhill from then on[...]"
"I met Whitney Houston & her female partner in 1991. She spoke at Reach Out & Touch vigil in support of people with HIV. Bravo Whitney. RIP"
When a follower replied that the woman in question would have been Houston's "singing partner", Tatchell responded: "No, her love partner. She loved a woman. But could not fully accept / express those feelings. Plus church pressure."

Jennifer Lopez is releasing her millionth, well 18th, new fragrance. The latest is called "Glowing", an homage to her first, which was released nearly 10 (!!) years ago.
“Glowing, is a step beyond Glow.” Jennifer explains. “Glowing is such a clean fragrance, that’s what I’ve always been about. I like soapy, clean smells. This is a very woodsy scent. So it’s not exactly what I created 10 years ago – it’s the evolution of that. At the essence, it’s still natural, earthy, clean and real, but a little different side of that. It’s the woodsy side of it, which I think is kind of New York-y, darker and sexier.”

1. This deception is almost movie worthy. You have a foreign born B list actress and singer who is barely known here in the US but is A list back home and has had some very interesting boyfriends in the past. Their previous choices makes you wonder how she ended up with them. Anyway, her part of the deception was simple. She found a former A list tweener and convinced him she was in like with him. He even got to fool around with her once or twice.
On the other side of the equation is a former almost A list singer. Now you feel like the singer is not far from playing casinos and state fairs. Anyway, our singer is married to a reality star and has been for quite some time. There are kids involved. So, we have the foreign born star and the singer and they have been together for about six months. The thing is they can never go anywhere when she is in LA and have to really sneak around and use her friend’s apartments even with her pretending to be the girlfriend of the former A list tweener. Now though they will have several weeks together alone while they film a new show out of the country. They are going to use this time to decide if the final cut should be made and the singer can move on with the foreign born star. CDAN
My Guess: Delta Goodren and Nick Jonas for the foreign born singer and former A list tweener.... now who makes sense for the former A list singer married to a reality star....
2. Which aging British rocker had a meltdown at a Starbucks in Austin, Texas, when his order wasn’t made to his standards? The legendary long-haired vocalist threw a FIT when the barista botched his beverage! National Enquirer

My Guess: Nicole Kidman
4. At a recent press junket two costars were together promoting a film. The two costars (one female and one male) have slept together in the past but made a bet to see who could bed someone of their same sex first. The winner was the actress, who slept with a female publicist. Buzz Foto
My Guess: Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd promoting Wanderlust.... maybe they slept together before in 1998 when they filmed The Object of My Affection?
5. About every other Fashion Week or so there is always a blind item about someone having sex backstage somewhere and I don’t think I have ever revealed one of them. This year though, it will be revealed. So, if you want to know what former A list R&B singer and now struggling to stay relevant anyway she can saw someone she thought could help her struggling comeback while at Fashion Week. The next thing you know they were backstage and having at it. Apparently it was not just her dress that caused some attention. Our singer is kind of loud. CDAN
My Guess: Ashanti
6. We don’t know why reality shows that taped months ago think that everybody associated with the production can keep a secret. The winner of this ridiculous reality show was selected long ago. That’s true if by “date with destiny” she actually means “future meeting with a porn producer”. Blind Gossip
My Guess: Courtney on The Bachelor
7. This up-and-coming British actor could pull in big numbers to the box office if he stays on for the project he’ll be filming. Unfortunately for him, he might have slept with the director’s wife and this director has the power to ruin his career. Buzz Foto

[BlindGossip] This award-winning singer was another Grammy no-show. She was actually scheduled to present one of the awards, but has a good excuse for not showing up: she went to reh*b.
We’re very glad that this broken girl is getting help. She will be in reh*b for the next three weeks , which, in our opinion, is simply not enough time to work on her multiple issues.
Although her Twitter account is still active, she is not the one who is writing her tweets. Her team is twittering for her to try to fool her fans into thinking that she is fine. Anything to fool the public and sell those albums!
We still don’t quite understand why she chronically lies about her situation and why she lets others lie for her. Maybe that’s part of being an addict or of being an enabler? We hope it’s something she will explore and straighten out in rehab. The concept of being honest with yourself and others is an essential cornerstone of a long-lasting recovery, and we sincerely hope she “gets it” this time.
For now, though, her team is claiming that she is “on vacation” for a week. Whatever. Let’s just hope that they let her stay “on vacation” there this time, and that they don’t pull her out for some BS photo op or performance. Good luck, Kid!
As she has made her way around the Oscar circuit Viola Davis has impressed the Bagger – and everyone else who has heard her – by speaking eloquently about subjects that many shy away from: race, class and sexism, in Hollywood and in the real world. Even as she campaigns hard in the best actress race, Ms. Davis continues to speak her mind.
In a recent interview with Tavis Smiley, Ms. Davis and her co-star Octavia Spencer responded to Mr. Smiley’s qualms about their Oscar-nominated turns playing domestic workers. He referred to Hattie McDaniel’s Oscar victory, the first for an African-American actress, for playing a maid in “Gone With the Wind” and wondered why filmmakers or audiences can’t get past that image. (In the opinion pages this weekend, Brent Staples noted that advertising got there long before the dramatic arts.)
“I want you to win,” Mr. Smiley said, “but I’m ambivalent about what you’re winning for.”
Ms. Davis was direct.

The third film is said to break out of the found footage mold, you can kind of see it in the trailer.
Clara and Koldo wish you a happy Valentine's day.
This looks absolutely AMAZING. The last scenes are so intense!!! Can't wait!
Can Garbage get a tag please? There's been a lot of Garbage posts lately due to their new album and they always get a lot of love from ONTD.
This guy sent his dick pic to my boyfriend. He should’ve sent it to me as well because now jealousy has gotten the best of me. Pics are attached!"

BY the time she did her A-levels, actress Ruth Negga had been to "about" 10 different schools.
It was a peripatetic childhood -- moving between Ethiopia, London, Leicester and Limerick -- that has left her with a low threshold for the boredom of staying in one place for too long ("I get itchy feet after a while. I like knowing that I can just go, that a job won't last forever."), coupled with a fear of somehow slipping through the cracks of society and becoming isolated. "I'm really bad about maintaining friendships and relationships," she confesses. "When you move around a lot, you don't always have the opportunity ... I'm getting better at it. It does require effort and time, and I'm realising that more and more." (i can relate so much)
Born in Ethiopia, to an Ethiopian father and a mother from Limerick, Ruth and her mother left when she was four, because the country was becoming troubled. Her father, a doctor, wasn't allowed to leave, and died three years later in a car crash. Neither Ruth nor her mother, a nurse and health visitor, had seen him in the interim. These days, Limerick is home, because her mother and aunts live there, but London is where Ruth is mostly based. "I went over to do Criminal Justice for the BBC, and stayed. I always wanted to go over with a job; I didn't want to be lonesome in London, because it is a lonesome place," she explains. "It's a great city, I love it, but you can get lost there. I can see how people can pine for something more intimate and local, no matter how suffocating it might be when you're there. At least you won't get dropped through the cracks."( Collapse )
Iggy Azalea sits down with Karen Civil to talk about her upcoming album "The New Classic", why she chose T.I. to executive produce it, why she decided to sign to Interscope Records instead of staying independent, how she thinks she will able to establish herself as a white rapper and how "The New Classic" will measure up to past Interscope releases such as "Slim Shady".

SXSW is right around the corner, and we've got some big news to share regarding our official showcase. It's taking place March 15 at the Central Presbyterian Church, and will feature none other than Fiona Apple. The beloved singer-songwriter hasn't played more than a handful of shows since 2007. We're beyond excited to be hosting this performance in an intimate space that only holds about 400 people.
Fiona will open the showcase at 8 p.m. Only SXSW badges and wristbands will be admitted. Stay tuned for details on the rest of the lineup.
The Cougar Town cast has pounded grapes, traveled the country, and, from a promotional point of view, pretty much killed themselves getting word out about the return of their show tonight for an exciting third season after a lengthy absence.
But the result of their efforts — and, in turn, the true power of guerrilla, self-funded promotion — won’t be known until tomorrow morning, when overnight ratings are released. Though, even then, creator Bill Lawrence, who largely funded the massive campaign pegged to the show’s return, says he’s trying to stay realistic about the possible ratings outcome for a show premiering on Valentine’s Day.
