David Thewlis - Slight Smile

William and Kate find a man who can resist their charms

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge fail to excite David Thewlis, the War Horse star

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were the star turns at the premiere of War Horse, but they didn’t make a big impression on David Thewlis, one of the film’s stars. “I’ve not met these ones,” he told me, nonchalantly. “I’ve met other ones. I live next door to Windsor Castle, so I’m sick of the sight of ’em.”

He added quickly: “No, not really. I’ll get treason for that now, won't I?”

If only that could have been dished out to the tiresome Meryl Streep, who was last week wondering out loud why we are all so deferential to the Royal family.

BREAKING NEWS: Charlie Sheen 'I'm not crazy anymore'

Charlie Sheen says that last year's headline-making antics are indeed a thing of the past.

"I'm not crazy anymore. That was an episode,"
Sheen says, laughing, as he spoke with reporters at Sunday night's Fox Network Television Critics Association party in Pasadena, Calif. "I think I'm a different person than I was yesterday. Everything is a lot more mellow and focused and much more rooted in reality."

Sheen, 46, couldn't be more Zen about his new FX show, "Anger Management," in which he will star and produce. He reports that casting is underway and that they will shoot 10 episodes in six weeks.

"I've been at this 30 years. It's nice to be in a situation where the people I'm working with are excited about my input. That wasn't the case for a long time," Sheen says.

Of late, Sheen says instead of sounding off on Twitter, "I've been spending a lot of time with the kids, a lot of time with the family and I'm getting back into work mode," adding that he is goddess-free these days. "I'm a single guy hanging out with my children."

Sheen tweets pic from Emmys Charlie Sheen: I was 'losing'
Asked if he has been in contact with his former "Two and a Half Men" costar Jon Cryer, or producer Chuck Lorre, Sheen says, "Jon and I text. Chuck, no, but at some point we are going to have to get some closure there."

His opinion of his TV character's funeral, which opened the sitcom's new season last September, now that it stars Ashton Kutcher? "It was a little bizarre to watch your own funeral. It was a little mean-spirited. But it's dead and buried now, right?"
While Sheen says it's "premature" to name the celebrities who would like to make cameo appearances on his new show, he says "everybody" wants to take part. [VIA]

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick's Dog Dies

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are mourning a beloved pal. Their Lab mix Paulie, who they adopted from a vet in 1999, died recently, Bacon announced Monday.

"Paulie 1999-2012. Sleep well old friend," the actor wrote on his WhoSay page, with a photo of Paulie.

The senior dog had been dealing with health issues in recent months. In November, Bacon posted a photo on WhoSay of Paulie sporting a bandage on his leg as he laid on the floor.

"My man Paulie home from the hospital," he shared.

Sedgwick told PEOPLE in 2009 that the lovable dog was named for an unfortgettable film character. "At six weeks he reminded me of Rocky [Balboa's] brother Paulie," she said. "It made no sense. It was a spur of the moment thing. He looked like this little tough guy who the second he came into our apartment wreaked havoc."

Oprah with Joel Osteen: gays are sinners but can get into heaven

Pastor Joel Osteen has made a name for himself as a positive and uplifting minister who focuses in on life’s pleasantries. Despite his wild popularity, he‘s also frequently criticized by some who feel he doesn’t address some of the more nitty-gritty issues that exist in both the secular and religious worlds.

On Sunday evening, Oprah Winfrey interviewed Osteen on her new program, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” where he delved deeply into his views on homosexuality and sin.

Will a gay person be accepted into heaven, as you see it?,” Oprah asked the famed pastor. “I believe they will,” he responded. ”Sometimes we look at gay being a bigger sin than being proud or not telling the truth. I don’t think God categorizes sins.”

I believe that homosexuality is shown as a sin in the scripture....Oprah, it’s a hard thing in a sense, because I’m for everybody. I’m not against anybody. I don‘t think anybody’s second class,” Osteen continued, as he explained that the bible’s message on the matter, in his view, is clear.

Release Date Shifts: 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' and 'Detention'

After The Devil Inside killed the boxoffice, Paramount Pictures is securing that date in 2013 for another potential sleeper. The studio has made a full-year shift for Dead Snow director Tommy Wirkola's twisted spin Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D, which stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the title characters. Moving from March 2012, it will now arrive in theaters January 11, 2013.

Word on the street is that this flick is good, like really good. It's an original take on the classic fairytale that is set 15 years after the siblings killed the witch who kidnapped them. Hansel and Gretel have now evolved into bounty hunters who pursue witches.

In addition, Samuel Goldwyn will take Joseph Kahn's awesome Detention to theaters on April 6 of this year. Odds are it will also hit various VOD platforms. In the film, a downtrodden 17-year-old girl is sent to detention where she must survive a slasher film killer and save the world in time for prom.

Universal Celebrates 100th Birthday With New Logo & 13 Film Restorations

On Jan. 10, Universal Pictures celebrated its 100th anniversary (which is on Apr. 30) by unveiling a new logo and announcing a restoration of 13 of its iconic films: All Quiet on the Western Front, The Birds, Abbott and Costello's Buck Privates, Dracula (1931), the Spanish-language Dracula filmed on the same set at night, FrankensteinJawsSchindler's List, Out of Africa, Pillow TalkBride of Frankenstein, The Sting and To Kill a Mockingbird (available Jan. 31 in a 50th-anniversary Blu-ray edition).

The animated version of the new logo debuts with Dr. Seuss' The Lorax at its February premiere (before its March 2 theatrical release). "It didn't change the logo in a way that audiences wouldn't completely understand, but it brought us up to date,"  Universal Studios President and COO Ron Meyer tells THR.

The restorations, which will be released throughout the studio's year-long centennial celebration, took three to six months each and cost $250,000 to $600,000 per title, Universal SVP, Technical Operations Michael Daruty told The Hollywood Reporter and others at a sneak preview of the extraordinarily impressive results on the studio lot on Dec. 1. "This restoration effort was not about marketability and whether we're gonna sell enough DVDs," said Daruty. "That is what we do on a daily basis, but this was a commitment by the company to say, 'We're gonna devote funding and most probably continue that effort year over year, to try and preserve and restore the legacy of the company. We're here to spend the money on these 13 titles and some others, whether we're gonna get our money back in that first year or not.'

Justin Bieber covers V Magazine: Talks sex, drugs, and wanting to be the next Michael Jackson.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Justin Bieber is just two months shy of turning 18. In such a small amount of time he's gone from a You Tube sensation - to selling out Madison Square Garden in 20 minutes. He's already survived a sex-scandal, and is dating Disney's princess, Selena Gomez. In a new interview with V Magazine, Bieber opens up about what's next - and trying to obtain Michael Jackson level success.

On being the next Michael Jackson:

Right now? I mean, I consider Michael Jackson the best. If I could be at his level... But I’ve got a lot of work to do. I’m not saying it’s going to happen within the next three years. But hopefully by the time I’m 30, people will remember me. I think people will remember me at this point, but I don’t want people to just think of me as a teen sensation. Because I could probably just sell out, and then in two years not put out another album, and just become Justin Bieber the teen superstar. But I don’t want to be that. I want to transition, and become the greatest.

On not going "crazy" like Michael did:

Michael had a really bad childhood. I was blessed with a great childhood. My mom loved me. My dad loved me. I’m now a teenager and I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything in my life. I’ve gotten to experience everything I possibly could. I don’t look back and think, Ugh, I wish I would have been able to do that. Maybe [Michael] missed out on a lot, so he tried to [re-live] his childhood when he was older. But I’ve got such good people around me, I’m not worried.

On turning 18 in March, and not being a "kid" anymore:

He re’s the thing: I think that I don’t need to try to do anything. There are people who try to grow up too fast—they’re 18, so they’re like, I’m not a kid anymore. People need to know I’m not a kid anymore. But at the end of the day, I’m not completely grown-up. I’m still learning. I’m going to grow up how I grow up. I’m not going to try to conform to what people want me to be or go out there and start partying, have people see me with alcohol. I want to do it at my own pace. But I’m never going to make myself so the kids and the parents don’t respect me. There’re some artists that [parents won’t] let their kids go and see because they think they’re a bad influence. I want to be able to do what Michael did—he always sang clean lyrics—and it was always that little kids loved Michael and grandparents loved Michael. I don’t want to start singing about things like sex,
drugs, and swearing. I’m into love, and maybe I’ll get more into making love when I’m older. But I want to be someone who is respected by everybody. Because right now, the young people are who make society. Young people determine what’s cool. Young people determine what’s going to be in style. So I always stick with the young people, that’s what I say.

On how his fan base is predominantly women:

It’s all about making good music, and people hate me before they even listen to my music. I know a lot of people say they hate Justin Bieber who haven’t even listened to any of my music. They just hate me becau se they hate the idea of me. I’m young, I’m handsome—I don’t mean to sound conceited—but they think that I just got here because [of that], because I’m good-looking and girls like me, but the music isn’t there. Here’s the thing: my first album, I was 13 turning 14 when I recorded it, and I put it out when I was 14 or 15. It was my first time recording, and it turned out really well. We put it out, my fans loved it, but I was still really young. Then the second album came out, and I’d geared it mostly toward the fans. And I feel like the more I put out, people will realize it’s really good music, and they’re going to come. I’m not worried about the guy fans because they’re going to come. If they listen to the music and they like it, it doesn’t matter if they go and act like they don’t like me. They’re going to go home and listen to it.

On being spiritual vs. religious:

I don’t think I’m religious. I am spiritual. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I believe that he put me in this position, and that I have to always give him the glory he deserves for putting me here. But I don’t consider myself religious. A lot of people who are religious, I feel like they get lost. They go to church just to go to church. I am not trying to disrespect them at all, you know, whatever works for you; but for me, I focus more on praying and talking to Him. I don’t have to go to church. I haven’t been to church in a long time, but I know I have a relationship with Him. People can be like, “If you don’t go to chur ch, what do you mean, how are you a Christian?” But I am. I talk to Him, and that’s all.

MORE PICS!!! His holiness was crowned...

Finally! After a longer-than-usual break between seasons, thanks to the arrival of actress and show creator Tina Fey's newest addition, "30 Rock" returns to Thursday night's primetime lineup this week. Fey and her fellow off-screen mom and "Rock" star Jane Krakowski visited TODAY Tuesday morning to tease the action to come.

Well, they teased the show, but only after they teased another celebrity mom – Beyonce. As it turned out, both actresses used the same hospital that hosted Beyonce and baby Blue Ivy -- New York's Lenox Hill -- but their stays lacked the alleged A-List treatment the singer received.

"We had very similar experiences to Beyonce and Jay-Z," Krakowski joked.

ScarJo's Mom is Broke Because She Isn't Her Manager Anymore

Photobucket

She’s the mother of one of the world’s biggest movie stars — but she can’t afford to buy a Manhattan apartment.

Scarlett Johansson’s mom and former manager, Melanie Sloan, signed a contract to purchase a $1.4 million two-bedroom in Midtown in October.

But less than two months later, the California dweller sued the owner of the 1,228-square-foot pad in The Strand at 500 W. 43rd St. — a doorman building with a swimming pool — demanding the return of her $130,000 deposit. She claimed she is cash-poor and can’t obtain a mortgage, according to court papers.

The real-estate battle offers a rare peek into the finances of a stage mother, whose famous daughter was a cash cow until she canned her mom two years ago and hired a professional manager.

Charlotte Casiraghi reportedly splits from Alex Dellal

Princess Caroline's daughter Charlotte Casiraghi has reportedly split with Alex Dellal - her boyfriend of four years.

Reports in the French press are saying the 25-year-old Monegasque royal has already embarked on a new romance with French comedian and actor Gad Elmaleh.

The elegant brunette and the Frenchman were apparently spotted together in an exclusive Paris nightclub at the end of December. Gad, 40, recently took part in films Tintin and Midnight in Paris. He is originally from Morocco.

Charlotte and Alex, the son of millionaire property owner Guy Dellal got together in 2007. They were introduced by his model sister Alice, and soon became inseparable.

Alex, the owner of trendy London art gallery 20 Hoxton Square, was often seen supporting Charlotte at the horse-riding events she enjoys so much. She in turn accompanied him to his beloved art exhibitions, and he was her date at Prince Albert's wedding to Princess Charlene.

There has been no official statement from the Monaco royal palace.

Shirtless Katie Holmes sells jewlery

Katie Holmes is the new face of luxury jewelry company H.Stern, but in the ads, she's showing a lot more than her face. *rimshot*

In the ads, Katie poses sans shirt, staring down the camera with kohl-rimmed eyes and tousled hair while dripping in diamonds and gold jewelry and alternating between, well, a black bra and a white bra.

Katie, 33, has fronted fashion ads before (for Ann Taylor), but this is definitely the sexiest shill we've seen from her. (Although fans might remember that Holmes went topless in her 2000 movie "The Gift.")

We love the oceanfront vibe of the ads, which are apparently only being used promotionally in Israel right now, but we think she looks a little... intense. It's okay, Katie! Don't kill us! We'll buy your jewelry!

'Dragon Tattoo' sequels without David Fincher?

Sony Officially Plans To Make 'Dragon Tattoo' Sequels, But David Fincher Is Looking To Direct '20,000 Leagues' Instead

While the quiet opening last month of Sony's big budget "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" had many speculating that the studio would quietly kibosh the planned the sequels in the face of underwhelming box office, David Fincher's film has shown some remarkable legs. The film is still in the top five at the domestic box office, and looks like when all is said and done, it will crack $100 million domestically -- not bad for a very adult, R-rated thriller that runs more than two-and-a-half hours long. Morever, with recent PGA and WGA nominations, 'Dragon Tattoo' is looking poised to be a bigger Oscar player than expected as well. And while Sony has already said they're continuing to pursue the planned sequels "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest," it became even more real over the weekend.

Slim and sexy Jonah Hill talks about Moneyball, awards season, and Catherine Keener

Of all the actors in the running for the Academy Awards this year, the one who is most gobsmacked to find himself in the thick of consideration has got to be Moneyball star Jonah Hill. As the taciturn numbers cruncher who convinces Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) to adopt a radical new system of recruiting low-valued players, Hill gives a subtle, muted performance that fans of his voluble and vulgar characters in SuperbadKnocked Up, and The Sitter wouldn’t recognize. (Fans of his nuanced performance in the indie film Cyrus, however, may not be so shocked.) The role has won him the best reviews of his career, nominations for the SAG Awards and Golden Globes, and according to Hill, the surreal experience of having people tell him he’s in the awards season horserace, even months before Moneyball had hit theaters.

We love Emmy Rossum now.

Emmy Rossum discusses what to expect this season on Shameless

We're not sure where you'll be watching the season two premiere of Shameless this Sunday, but Emmy Rossum will be screening it over at William H. Macy's house — or, as she puts it, Bill's. Their characters sit at the head of the show's fictional, barely-getting-by Gallagher family: He plays Frank, the alcoholic father who isn't actually a head at all. She's Fiona, the eldest of six who's raising his kids and occasionally having hot sex on a washing machine. We spoke with Rossum to find out what bad-girl behavior we can expect from Fiona this season, now that her car-thief boyfriend Steve went see-ya-later to Costa Rica. Plus, what's going to happen when the series' adolescent actors hit puberty, and who does the cooking at Bill's?

Last season you guys were wearing gloves in the house it was so cold. This season takes place in the summer. Can we expect bathing suits inside?
I know, it was kind of a shock when I found out we were shooting in the summer. I immediately called our wardrobe girl and we had a powwow about what we were gonna do, because we’re so used to sweaters that are oversized with holes in them and fingerless gloves. So the look of the show has kind of changed. But we’re also seeing that the Gallaghers do better in the summer, financially. They all have jobs and they’re sexy and sweaty and fun and everything that goes along with being overheated in the summer. Especially Fiona, who’s acting out.

ABC Schedules Scandal, Apartment 23; Private Practice Moves to Tuesdays; No News on Cougar Town Yet

ABC has scheduled freshman series Scandal and Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, moving Shonda Rhimes' Private Practice to the post-Dancing With the Stars Wednesday slot.

Rhimes' Kerry Washington D.C.-set political fixer drama will premiere in the post-Grey's Anatomy slot, bowing Thursday, April 5 at 10 p.m.

To make room for the new Rhimes pairing, the prolific showrunner's Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice will be tested to see how it fares without its longtime lead-in Tuesdays at 10 p.m., following Dancing With the Stars starting April 24. It will hold the slot through May 15.

Meanwhile, its Krysten Ritter, James Van Der Beek and Dreama Walker comedy Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 will launch in the plumb post-Modern Family slot on Wednesday, April 11 at 9:30 p.m., after Happy Endings completes its second season.

In addressing reporters Tuesday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour in Pasadena, ABC Entertainment topper Paul Lee expressed confidence in both series in launching them behind the network's top drama and comedy series.

A return date, however, for the unscheduled Cougar Town, has not been determined.

Fly

Hilary Duff Is Recording For Her New Album This Week!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What is your favorite TV show?

I really enjoy watching TV. I'll even admit, I like reality TV. Two of my favorite shows right now are The Walking Dead, which a lot of people are obsessed with, it's addicting. I also love Shameless. It's such a good show and I watched it when I flew to Toronto to visit my girlfriend. I watched the entire season on the 5 hour flight there and the 5 hour flight back.

What advice would you give someone who wants to be a professional entertainer?

Envision what you want, manifest what you want, believe in that. Take classes, take vocal lessons, take acting lessons, and read books. Decide who's career you like and what you could see yourself doing. There is so many opportunities out there now, with all the singing shows like American Idol and X-Factor. There is a lot of ways to get started that are easier now than it was before. Also, YouTube is an amazing resource to find new artists. I mean, Justin Bieber, there is not much bigger than him right now and he was discovered on YouTube.

Who is absolutely dominating your iPod these days?

I'm really obsessed with Bruno Mars right now. I love him and I love all his singles and I think he is extremely talented. Something else I'm listening to a lot is Florence and the Machine's new record. Other than that, I'm a Top 40's girl, I like anything that is catchy and has a good hook.

Do you think you'll live in LA in a few years?

I don't know, it's a tough decision to make. It depends how we want to raise are children. How we're liking it here. Our heart is in this city, we have all of our friends here and a lot of our family and it is important to be around those people. But maybe, ideally we'd like to have a place somewhere else to escape too.

Where do you see your career going after your child is born?

After the birth of my child, I think I'm up for whatever comes my way movie wise. For a while I was really focusing on doing independent movies because I could show more range and I was testing new waters, while I was in a big transition phase of my life and career. I would love to do mainstream movies again. Before that, I will be spending a lot of time in the studio making a new record. I really miss being on tour, recording, and creating new music. I think that's a big dream of mine to do that.

Is there something about motherhood and having a baby that terrifies you?

Anything that's unknown is scary to us. I'm definitely a little afraid, you know? It's not something you want to mess up and not something to be taken lightly, raising a child. Obviously, I want to be really good at it, I think it's the most important thing you'll do in your whole entire life. I have a feeling that Mike and I will be okay and we'll figure it out just like everyone else does. We're really excited for what's to come.

RuPaul Hits The Campaign Trail Just to Make Sure You Know He’s Not Ron Paul

Even though I can't imagine how anyone would get this in their head, RuPaul is saying he's sick of people confusing him for Ron Paul. You know, because apparently that's a thing that's happening constantly for reasons you nor I can comprehend.

And what do you do when you're a gorgeous drag queen who is being confused for a weird looking, older white politician? You campaign in a New Hampshire diner to make sure everyone knows there's a difference.

RuPaul explains:

"I'm going to N.H. on a mission to spread love and set the record straight: contrary to recent reports, I am NOT Ron Paul. And I am not running for president of the United States. I hope to meet Ron Paul in person so we can be seen together to put the rumors to rest once and for all. And to remind Mr. Paul and all the Republican presidential candidates ‘if you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you going to love somebody else. Can I get an ‘Amen?'"

RuPaul also mentioned that while he is not a political person, "any time a man leaves the house in a wig and a pair of cha cha heels, he's making a political statement. Let us not forget that this great nation was founded by a bunch of men wearing wigs."

Channing Tatum Covers 'Details' February 2012

Channing Tatum turns up the heat on the cover of Details magazine’s February 2012 issue, on newsstands Tuesday (January 17).

Here’s what the 31-year-old Haywire actor had to share:

On his past projects and learning process: “You gotta do the Dear Johns. You gotta do The Vow. I’m conscious about why I did those parts, those movies. I wanted to learn from Rachel on The Vow. I wanted to learn from Lasse Hallstrom on Dear John - he did The Cider House Rules and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. I didn’t go to acting school, so my knowledge of story, filmmaking, and character comes from just being on set and doing it. I know I’m not the best actor, but I hope my characters are getting better.”

On his future film aspirations: “I really don’t want to be in any more movies that I don’t produce. Unless it’s with one of the 10 directors that I really want to work with, I don’t have any interest in not being on the ground floor of creating it. But what I really want to do is direct.”

On his late nights, often until 4 a.m., brainstorming at the office: “Jenna’s not always happy when I come home that late, but I’ve just got to get it out.”

FYI: Channing is wearing an Etro sweater and Gucci jeans.

Jay-Z's 'Glory:' One of Hip-Hop's Greatest Love Songs?

This week, one of the greatest love songs in hip-hop history was released, a song that made some cry.

Hip-hop has not always dealt as well with the deeper emotions of the mature soul as the blues, jazz and soul music. But hip-hop has a grownup wing now and is becoming more comfortable with deep emotions. Case in point: the new, poignant, melancholy love song by Jay-Z called “Glory” that reminds me a little of Stevie Wonder’s classic “Isn’t She Lovely?”

Naya Rivera, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss & Some Janky Bitch on TV Guide Cover. Plus, MJ Ep Previews!

Despite an exhausting shooting schedule, the Glee cast had a blast playing dress up yet again — this time in red leather, glittery gloves and fedoras, for their Michael Jackson tribute episode, airing Jan. 31. "One of our challenges," explains co-costume designer Jennifer Eve, "was to take the inspiration of Michael Jackson but keep the iconic Glee characterizations."

But it's not all sparkle and no substance. According to Cory Monteith, who plays Finn, "What makes 'Michael' a great tribute episode is that it successfully carries a lot of our storylines forward while at the same time paying homage to the King of Pop."

Enjoy this behind-the-scenes photo gallery tour of outtakes from TV Guide Magazine's exclusive on-set cover story photo shoot and hear what the cast has to say about perhaps Glee's most ambitious undertaking yet.

ABC chief on 'Work It' harming transgender community: 'I don't get it'

Sorry, GLAAD — ABC Entertainment topper Paul Lee doesn’t get why you have issues with Work It.

While talking to reporters at the annual Television Critics Tour in Pasadena today, Lee said he was stumped by a campaign from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Human Rights Campaign that accuses the cross dressing comedy of being harmful to transgenders. “I didn’t really get it,” he said. “I loved Tootsie. I still love Tootsie. I didn’t get it. But that’s probably me.”

Bryan Cranston to guest on "Archer"

The gravely tones of Walter White are coming to FX’s Archer.

Emmy winner Bryan Cranston will guest-star on the animated hit’s two-part season finale, part of which is set on the International Space Station. First reported by HuffPo and confirmed by FX, the actor will play Commander Drake, an “earnest, conscientious astronaut fighting to quell a mutiny on the space platform.”
So, yes, Sterling Archer will get his Moonraker on. Also guest-starring on the show’s third season: Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead). They join the previously announced Burt Reynolds — Arch’s hero — who guest-stars in the Jan. 19 midseason premiere playing himself. (I’ve seen the first four installments; they’re strong, especially episode 2, where Cyril is promoted to a field agent.)

Sean Lennon Talks About His Alter Ego

Sean Lennon has teamed up with filmmaker Jordan Galland to write the music for Alter Egos, a forthcoming comedy about superheroes in a setting that resembles real life a bit more than movies starring the likes of Batman, the X-Men, Iron Man and Spider-Man. (You can watch the trailer for the movie above.) Lennon's soundtrack is a pastiche of familiar superhero movie orchestration and a variety of pop styles, and further cements his reputation as a sort of musical chameleon. Lennon chatted with Rolling Stone recently about working on the film, as well as his other projects with his girlfriend, musician and model Charlotte Kemp Muhl.

Jay-Z’s Surprise Gift to Blue Ivy Carter

Jay-Z lets go of profane references for Blue Ivy’s sake

If a father could do one thing to make the world a better place for his newborn daughter, what do you think it would be. World peace? Safer streets? Financial security? In the case of rapper and business mogul, Jay-Z since security and finances aren’t pressing issues for him and his family, and world peace is out of his control ther is a small change he can make that would have far reaching impact — stop using the word “b—-.”  Jay-Z is all to well aware of the influence his musics and his lyrics have on the actions and attitudes of youth here and over seas.  Check out Jigga’s letter to Blue Ivy Carter, he and wife Beyonce’s brand new baby girl. Collapse ) The artists who keep us captivated with their ability to spit rhymes and for those men — boyfriends, husbands, and fathers too — who listen intently to the words and mimic them in thought and deed, will have to be vigilante about protecting their children from the insults which might be leveled their way. They especially can’t add to the denigration of a generation and the degradation of girls and young women. Think about your favorite celebrity who is or may become a parent. How would you like their letter to read? What would your letter say?</p>

What 2012 Has in Store for 'The Twilight Saga' Cast

I'm over a week late, but Happy New Year, Twi-hards. I hope you all had a great time covering yourselves in glitter and playing pin-the-tail on the R.Pattz, or whatever it is you choose to do on New Year's Eve.

Last year during this time, I urged you to make the resolution to watch more "Twilight" because "Eclipse" was only No. 4 in the 2010 box office numbers. Sadly, you didn't listen to me. "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" came in fifth in 2011, behind even "Kung Fu Panda 2." C'mon, people! That's just sad. Resolve right now to make "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" top the 2012 box office numbers, like the last installment of "Harry Potter" did this year. We can't lose to those Pot-heads ... again.

Enough with the browbeating, it's time to look ahead at an exciting year for "The Twilight Saga" cast. Not only will they be completing the best movie franchise of all time, but they'll be flying out on their own with new, more adult projects.

'The Artist' star Jean Dujardin books next project

EW has confirmed that Jean Dujardin will star in the upcoming spy thriller Möbius. Dujardin has received universal plaudits for his turn in the French silent film The Artist, a presumed Best Picture front-runner at this year’s Oscar. For Möbius, Dujardin will hang up his tap shoes to play an experienced intelligence officer, filming in Monte Carlo and Hungary. Dujardin, who won the Best Actor award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for The Artist, is currently nominated for Golden Globe, SAG, and Spirit awards and is widely expected to snag an Oscar nod when the nominations are announced Jan. 24.

If it can't be Fassbender, I desperately want him to snatch Clooney and Pitt's wigs. Also, looking forward to his charmingly accented Globe speech on Sunday.

Is Riddick 3 Really Necessary? Female Lead Cast...

Katee Sackhoff is Female Lead in "Riddick 3"

Deadline has learned that Katee Sackhoff ("Battlestar Galactica") is in final negotiations to play the female lead opposite Vin Diesel in the third "Chronicles of Riddick" film.

Sackhoff will play Dahl, a NOrdic mercenary tracking Riddick. According to recent reports, Karl Urban has accepted the offer to reprise his role as Vaako, one of Lord Marshal's commanders. The new movie was recently put on hold due to payment issues. Production is now back on track in Montreal.

Plot: Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Jennifer Hudson Signs Books in the Big Apple

Singer, actress, wife, and mother. Now Jennifer Hudson is adding a new title to her expansive résumé. The Oscar and Grammy winner signed copies of her inspirational memoir I Got This: How I Lost What Weighed Me Down and Found Myself at Barnes & Noble in New York City on Tuesday. She showed off her trim physique while posing for photos.

During a visit to the “Today” show, the Weight Watchers spokeswoman explained that she never thought her weight was a big deal until others made her take notice.

“I got a message from Mr. Clive [Davis] like, ‘She can’t be a supermodel like that.’ I was like, ‘What does that mean?’” she told Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford. “By that point I had already won an Oscar. I had already defined myself to a certain extent in the industry being a big girl, being plus size, going off talent alone. I still did not get it or understand, like what is this big deal about image?”

But her decision to lose the weight was personal. “I do not like being boxed in, I do not believe in limits, and I know that nobody knows your potential better than you,” she said.

Introducing Jessie Baylin

Collapse )

In November of 2011, Baylin released a free EP titled Pleasure Center. Also produced by Richard Swift, it's a great primer for what's to come on Little Spark. Pleasure Center is a fantastic set of deep-track covers from everyone from Sonic Youth to Fleetwood Mac but it's anchored by a brilliant new original song, "White Noise", which would fit perfectly amongst the material in Little Spark. If you're unfamiliar with Baylin's work it's the perfect way to get a taste of her sound before her new album drops! There's also a link to a track off the new album, "Hurry Hurry", that's available for free download. Finally, be sure to check out the trailer for Little Spark, due January 17th.

American Songwriter: Jessie Baylin, Little Spark (3.5/4 stars) - For all its globetrotting variety, Little Spark is the most cohesive thing Baylin’s ever done. The songs fit together like puzzle pieces, their unique edges linking up to form some sort of nostalgic, sepia-toned image. The overall picture is one of an artist successfully rebooting herself, and Baylin – who sings this material with a mix of Southern grace and casual, almost boozy melancholia, landing somewhere between Memphis-era Dusty Springfield and Kathleen Edwards in the process – sounds like she’s finally found her home.

La Vie En Rose Director To Helm Grace Kelly Biopic

The biopic about Grace Kelly, who starred in Rear Window, Dial M For Murder and To Catch A Thief, has landed a director. But if you're expecting a movie about Kelly's glamorous movie career, you are mistaken. Olivier Dahan, who is best known for directing the Oscar-winning La Vie en Rose, is now attached to direct Grace Of Monaco, which is set after Kelly retired from acting to be the princess of the French principality.

According to Deadline, Dahan has already begun taking meetings with producer Pierre-Ange Le Pogam to find the proper actress to play the Hollywood starlet turned royalty. The story will be set during the six months of 1962 when Charles De Gaulle and Monaco’s Prince Rainier III began a dispute over Monaco's existence as a tax haven. As pressure escalated between the two sides, Kelly executed political maneuverings that ended up saving Monaco.

As with all big biopics, the next all-important step is to find the perfect actress to play Grace Kelly. There are plenty of blonde actresses in Hollywood that could fit the bill physically, but not as many that have the talent to match. It's almost a shame that Michelle Williams played Marilyn Monroe just last year, as I could see her easily slipping into the role of Kelly as well (then again, I'd put Michelle Williams in just about any role). Instead of spewing off a list of names that would also be well suited, I shall leave it up to you: who has the talent and the looks to play Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco?

Joy: "homosexuality has been around since the Neanderthals and humanity is still here."

Barbara: "What's a family? [I know] two women who are both having babies, no marriage, no man, from a sperm bank....is that a family?"

Whoopi: "What about Jewish people? What about Hindus and Zoroastrians. Not everybody has the same idea of what marriage is supposed to do."

Joe Carnahan Talks Nemesis; Wants Liam Neeson as Blake Morrow

The A-Team director clears up the status of Nemesis and reveals which Batman Begins star he and Mark Millar think would make the perfect Detective Blake Morrow.

"I’ll say this, Mark and I are in discussions," the director told Collider of the current status of Nemesis in a recent interview while promoting his latest movie, The Grey. "I’ll say I’ve never lost interest in Nemesis. He and I both fell victim to a kind of executive breach of trust that took place that it’s not even worth commenting on. That was a classic example of "he said, he said." That’s an ongoing development."

Brad Pitt was initially rumoured as a possible Blake Morrow (the police detective who faces off against Nemesis throughout the four issue series) but it seems that both Carnahan and creator Mark Millar have someone else in mind altogether now. "You know it’s funny—and I’ll let this cat out of the bag just for you—Mark Millar and I were talking about Nemesis and I had mentioned that I think a particularly fantastic Blake Morrow would be Liam Neeson." What do you guys think?

Ugly People Have A Chance With Douglas Booth

King Douglas Booth believes
beauty is not everything

19 year old English actor, Douglas Booth is set to have a very long and successful career due to the fact that, not only is he a very talented actor, but he also possess a great beauty about him. However, Douglas has admitted that, while beauty certainly helps in his profession, he does believe that it is also important to be a good person at the same time.

Booth explained, "We live in a beauty-obsessed age and success sometimes appears to hinge solely on the presentation of an image that is acceptable to the press. I suppose it helps if your face appearing 30ft high on a cinema screen doesn't cause a mass exit, but I'd like to think that being a friendly, kind-hearted individual has as much of a positive impact on an actor's career."

The young English actor has been impressing both fellow actors and critics alike with his superb performances on screen, most recently for his performance as Pip in the TV adaptation of Great Expectations. Douglas Booth can next be seen on the big screen portraying the legendary Shakespeare character Romeo in Carlo Carlei’s Romeo and Juliet, which will be released this year. Romeo and Juliet will also star Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet and Ed Westwick as Tybalt.

2012 IS THE YEAR POP GETS SMARTER, FRANKER, AND LESS FALSE. AS FIVE FEARLESS FEMALES PREPARE TO RELEASE LONG-AWAITED RECORDS, PUNK’S GURU OF GLAM, MICK ROCK, GIVES US A GLIMPSE OF THE REVOLUTION

Solange Knowles doesn’t mince words. “There are a lot of songs about sex,” she says of her new album, a personal project she funded and managed herself. “It’s the kind of record you put on when your man is coming over, when you’re with your girls. There are songs that make you wanna dance because we were kind of partying our way through the record, but it’s very chill.” Knowles worked with a few new friends on the album, forgoing the major label route to make a statement that is entirely her own. Along the way, she found a fated collaborator in Blood Orange’s Devonte “Dev” Hynes. “Dev was a complete surprise, his role changed substantially throughout the process,” she says of the rising star, who wound up producing most of the record. “It’s very rare that you work with someone with whom you have this creative chemistry, it’s almost like a relationship. You have a sort of musical love affair.”

Working with Hynes, Vincent Vendetta of the Midnight Juggernauts, Ariel Reichstadt, and polishing things up with Pharrell, Knowles aims for a pop-soul sound that’s equal parts progressive and throwback. “My references for the record were all Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, not just their typical Janet and Prince stuff, but SOS Band and their b-sides with Chaka Khan. At first the songs were really dark because I had a premonition before the record that I was going to die. I was having panic attacks and wiling out.” Once the team realized a house they had rented in Santa Barbara to record in had a bad vibe—to put it bluntly—they relocated to L.A. and saw a light at the end of the tunnel.

“I have never been invested in believing anything about hauntings,” Knowles says nervously, “so of course I was thinking it was something within myself because I am in complete denial of ghosts. But I think it was haunted!”

Despite the album’s intimate overtones, the blissfully in-love mother manages to address the downside of domesticity. “Now being in a stable situation, sometimes that feels fucked up within itself,” Solange says. “I’ve been on the road my entire life since I was 13, even when I had my son he came on the road with me. Now that he’s in school where there is a real structure, we have to be home during those times. Being that grounded feels really foreign to me.” Writing, recording, and putting the record out herself has helped her maintain a lot of independence. “I don’t need anyone telling me ‘this isn’t cool enough’ or anyone from the opposite end saying ‘this seems kind of weird.’ I’m lucky enough to have been in this business for so long that I know how it works. It’s not that hard. It’s not rocket science.”

Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama have called it quits, E! Online reports.

The 19-year-old actress and Wilmer, 31, had been quietly dating but made an appearance together at pal Tiffany Thornton’s wedding last year.

A few hours before news first surfaced the two had split, Demi tweeted, “The smartest thing a woman can ever learn, is to never need a man.”

She also retweeted the Marilyn Monroe quote, “”A wise girl kisses but doesn’t love, listens but doesn’t believe, and leaves before she is left.” source

LMAO that explains why Wilmer and Joe are now besties.

Russell Brand Takes Off His Wedding Ring

A month before filing for divorce from Katy Perry because doing it herself would upset her anti-Semitic parents, Russell Brand “jokingly” takes off his wedding ring in a video posted to porn site Nudevista to promote his upcoming college tour. Via HuffPost Celebrity:

In the video, Brand promotes a forthcoming American college tour, joking that he’s visiting a variety of universities to learn more about college culture in the U.S. The comedian also explains his interest in exploring sorority life — or what he calls “sex clubs for women” — at which point he slyly removes his wedding ring.
The video gives no serious indication that Brand is, in fact, having difficulties in his marriage, but it does offer quite a revelation now that he and Perry are officially divorcing. In the video, which Brand later posted on porn website Nudevista, he jokes that he is going to “place [his wedding ring] somewhere very, very safe for the next week.”

Of course this just adds to the reports that Katy couldn’t satisfy Russell’s sexual appetite, but in her defense, duct-taping five porn stars in Panda costumes to a dentist chair probably couldn’t even do that. “Yeah, I dunno, love. What say we all shag inside this MRI machine – running, of course – and at one point someone says, ‘Heavens, doctor, he’s got a bleedin’ tuma!’ Also, this amputee’s goin’ ta watch. Shall we then?”

Grimm's Silas Weir Mitchell Hints At Future Chaos For Monroe

For the first half of the season on "Grimm," Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) has kept a safe distance from the Grimms. This is as much a matter of self-preservation as it is general distaste toward a group that really is his mortal enemy. But according to Mitchell, he's about to cross that boundary in Friday's (Jan. 16) episode, and it could get ugly.

"I am asked by Nick (David Giuntoli), who is in a desperate situation, to go into Aunt Marie's trailer," Mitchell says in a tone that reflects his character's concern. "It would be like asking a Nazi officer to go and take something out of the Temple on the Mount."

Mitchell, who we met up with at the Television Critics Association Winter press tour, further explains his trepidation as the Blutbad.

"I'm going to be in the room where all the stuff is that's been accumulated over 700 years as to how to kill my people," he says. "That type of stuff is very challenging...Just being around a Grimm is a threat if other Blutbaden or other creatures find out."

Mitchell seems to be enjoying his role as the wolfen creature who is trying to make a new start in life. And the former Religious Studies and Drama major at UC San Diego is able to incorporate both elements of his education as Monroe.

"Everybody has darkness in their hearts. And they have God-likeness in their hearts. And the creatures, in a way to me, they're like metaphors for parts of the human psyche. We all have it," he says.

Of course as a Blutbad, Monroe also has extra-normal strength, a power he demonstrated early in the season when he ripped off the arm of a potential assailant. Mitchell explains his thoughts on that moment.

"It was fantastic," Mitchell says. "It was like being a kid and you're playing cops and robbers with amazing effects at your disposal. So it was really fun."

"Grimm" returns to NBC on Friday at 9 p.m. ET.

George Lucas: Hollywood Didn't Want To Fund 'Red Tails' Because Of Its Black Cast

George Lucas Pictures, Images and Photos

In an appearance on The Daily Show last night, George Lucas said that he had trouble getting funding for his new movie, "Red Tails," because of its black cast.

"This has been held up for release since 1942 since it was shot, I've been trying to get released ever since," Lucas told Jon Stewart. "It's because it's an all-black movie. There's no major white roles in it at all...I showed it to all of them and they said no. We don't know how to market a movie like this."

T
here is video at the source but, it is from HULU. I wonder if all the people that watched and defended "The Help" would go and see this when it comes out on the 20th of January.
Daisy Shimmy

Daisy Lowe: "You can always judge a man by his shoes....

... and baseball caps disgust me."

Despite it being a particularly grey, slushy winter's day, a photographic studio in West London is shining brightly with the cheerful glow of long-time MR PORTER crush, model Ms Daisy Lowe, as she sifts through a rack of MR PORTER clothes. A favourite not only with us, but also with the likes of Playboy, Vogue, Agent Provocateur and Chanel - no one can seem to get enough of Ms Lowe's sultry looks.

amber rose apologizes to kween kim for branding her a "homewrecker"

Amber Rose has extended an apology to Kim Kardashian, a week after calling the reality TV star a "homewrecker" and accusing her of pursuing then-boyfriend Kanye West.

But while she apologized for calling her a "homewrecker," Rose did not refute her earlier claim that Kardashian went after West, even though the reality star was dating NFL star Reggie Bush at the time.

"At the end of the day, I want to apologize to Kim for calling her a homewrecker," Rose tells the Huffington Post. "It was something I had to get off my chest so people knew the truth. I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings."

Avengers Thor

Robert Rodat Brought On To Rewrite 'Thor 2'

When it was announced last summer that Marvel would be handing script duties to Don Payne for Thor 2, I was seriously confused. In addition to the fact that the first movie had  Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (who wrote the awesome X-Men: First Class), Payne's previous work includes dreck like Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer and My Super Ex-Girlfriend. With so many talented writers in Hollywood, it didn't make sense that the studio would go to someone who has such a poor track record. Lucky for us, they have realized what they did and have made a move to fix it.

Deadline reports that Robert Rodat has been brought in to do rewrites on the script for Thor 2. While the project will be the first time that Rodat has ventured into the superhero world, his name carries clout because he was the Oscar nominated screenwriter on Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan. His other work includes The Patriot, the film starring Heath Ledger and Mel Gibson, as well as the television series Falling Skies, which premiered last year. As confirmed by Tom Hiddleston earlier this week, the film is scheduled to go into production this summer in London with Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor at the helm. According to the site, the planned story for Thor 2 changed when Taylor was brought on board to replace Patty Jenkins in the director's chair.

This is great news. Robert Rodat is a legitimate screenwriter who will hopefully take the sequel to the next level. In a way this reminds me of when Joss Whedon was brought on to direct The Avengers and ended up completely rewriting the draft that was by Zak Penn (who was also responsible for some superhero disasters, including the first Fantastic Four movie, Elektra, and X-Men: The Last Stand). I look forward to seeing the result of Rodat's work.

ANTM Castoff Beats First Out Lesbian Contestants To Win Miss California U.S.A. 2012

Natalie Pack, a 22-year-old woman who plans to attend medical school, was crowned Miss California USA 2012 Sunday night in a pageant at McCallum Theatre.

Moments after the diamond-studded tiara was placed upon her head, Pack was surrounded by admirers and photographers, and was asked how she felt.

“Surreal,'' Pack said, as she flashed a radiant smile.

For Pack, a 6-foot-tall candidate who likes bicycling, motorcycling and oil painting, and competed as Miss Hoag Hospital, the crowning capped a weekend long journey with more than 400 other contestants for Miss California USA titles.

The runner-up in the event that played to a full house was Miss Malibu, Brie Gabrielle.

Brian Worley, who was one of the judges, a co-owner of YourBASH!, said 278 young women competed for this title. The others in the group of 400 participated in Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA 2012 crowns.

“I think the judges did an amazing job narrowing the final candidates down,” Worley said. “Our finalists are very impressive.”

Jenelle Hutcherson, 26, of Long Beach, and Mollie Thomas, 19, of West Hollywood, were the first openly gay contestants in the 60 years of the state pageant, whose winner will go on to compete in Miss USA, the national pageant.

Natalie appeared in ANTM Cycle 12 alongside ONTD and 4chan favorite Allison "Creepy Chan" Harvard.  She finished in sixth place and rumors persist about an unaired screaming match between Natalie and host Tyra Banks that occurred during her elimination judging.  WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, TYRANT?  And yes, we all know that haggard old beast hates pageant girls but whatevs, I still want to see that fight.

Shows we can't believe are still on air.

TV shows come and go, but some endure… for no apparent reason. Case in point: The CW's "One Tree Hill," which inexplicably returns for a ninth (and thankfully final) season this week. (When it premiered, it was on The WB, for Pete's sake!) But "OTH" isn't the only show to hang on way past its expiration date. Here are a few other current shows that have never topped the ratings or won critical acclaim, but found a way to survive just the same.

As a former OTH stan who even visited fucking Wilmington NC to see the show being filmed (don't judge) I have to admit that this show is so bad now. I stopped giving a shit after season 6.
