a class and elegance aka carey mulligan post! (feat. marcus mumford, sigh)

Bundled up to thwart the wintry east coast weather, Carey Mulligan was joined by her guitar toting fiance Marcus Mumford while heading to tend to press duties in New York City on Sunday (January 8).

The English actress was escorted inside The Times Center, where she cleaned herself up before parting in the New York Times TimesTalk as part of the 2012 NY Times Arts & Leisure weekend.

The weekend outing comes just after Miss Mulligan spoke with the Times about her nudity laden role in the Steve McQueen directed film "Shame".

“I had days of walking around New York with Steve, just talking about films and how women’s bodies are portrayed in cinema, and the absurdity of the expectation of how you’re meant to look and as an actress how you’re meant to look,” the 26-year-old dished.

“Mentally, I was never against the idea. I knew [my character, Sissy] didn’t go to the gym and diet, she drank and ate, and so I had fun and didn’t worry about what I looked like,” Carey added. “And by the time we were filming I felt free. It was quite fun in a way because it was the perfect way to flaunt abandon, in that scene. It was kind of liberating.”

Corey Feldman: "I will reveal the names of TWO Hollywood paedophiles that abused me"

As a teenage star Corey Feldman starred in some classic movies and became an eighties Hollywood icon. But on film sets such as The Goonies, Stand By Me and The Lost Boys he claims to have been sexually abused by paedophiles. The Dancing On Ice star admits he was preyed on by many men and he plans to reveal the names of two Hollywood perverts in a tell all book.

Feldman in the 80s

The 40-year-old actor explained how at age 14 he was being leached upon and used by men like vultures. He told The Sun: 'It was basically me laying there pretending I was asleep and them going about their business.'

Corey, who has been clean of drugs for 20 years, will write a book to chronicle all the abuse that he and other actors endured as children. He decided it was time to open up about the seedy side of the industry after his Lost Boys co-star Corey Haim, 38, died and an agent was charged with child abuse. Feldman said that Haim, who died from heart failure and pneumonia, was also sexually abused and the people who did it believe that they are above the law.

George Clooney to star in espionage thriller "The Monuments Men"

Known for producing and/or starring in films boasting overt political themes, George Clooney is looking to add yet another one to his resume with a new espionage thriller entitled "The Monuments Men", based on the true story of a group of American and British art experts who were dispatched to track down artwork stolen by the Nazis during WWII.

“It’s a fun movie because it could be big entertainment," Clooney told The Wrap during a red carpet interview last night at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where he was accepting the Chairman's Award for his work in "The Descendants" and "The Ides of March". "It’s a big budget, you can’t do it small - it’s landing in Normandy.”

The actor will co-write, direct and star in the film, which he's producing with creative partner Grant Heslov. The two started their own company, Smoke House, in 2006, after their successful collaboration on the 2005 film "Good Night, and Good Luck", which was nominated for six Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director (Clooney) and Best Original Screenplay (Clooney and Heslov). Their most recent film was last year's "The Ides of March" starring Clooney and Ryan Gosling.

Set up at Sony, "The Monuments Men" is based on the non-fiction book “The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History" by Robert M. Edsel. It will focus on a specific 11-month period of time occurring between D-Day (June 6, 1944) and V-E Day (May 8, 1945).

“I’m not opposed to doing a commercial film, I’m just opposed to doing a commercial film that doesn’t feel organic to me," said Clooney, speaking on the project's mixture of popular appeal and political resonance. "So if we’re going to do a commercial film we thought, 'Let’s do something that seems fun and actually have something to say.'”

Clooney's next film is Alfonso Cuaron's "Gravity", a sci-fi thriller co-starring Sandra Bullock. It's slated for release in November.

Chris Colfer: I'm Back For 'Glee' Season 4

Chris Colfer's future on Glee was called into question yesterday morning when Fox's President of Entertainment Kevin Reilly announced at TCA that while the much rumored spinoff was dead in the water, Lea Michele would be back for season four as creator Ryan Murphy had come up with a "cool" way to keep the graduating seniors around.

When asked later whether Chris was also part of that plan, Reilly reportedly "hedged" before saying that hadn't been decided yet.

But he chatted with Murphy after the panel leading Chris Colfer to reveal to TheInsider.com that he would 100 percent be back in the fall! In addition to getting his take on this inventive way to keep the graduates around, Chris teased some very intriguing 2012 events when I caught up with him at Fox's All Star TCA party tonight.

Insider.com: It's been revealed that Lea Michele will be back next year -- will you?
Chris Colfer: Yes. I'm coming back. I'm very excited. A lot of people are sad there won’t be a spinoff but I think they're going to be very very excited to find out what's in store – I'm very excited by it. Ryan's idea is kind of revolutionary. It's the best of both worlds. Everyone is going to like it.

Talk about stepping up the public displays of affection!

Apparently not content with simply holding hands anymore, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone engaged in some serious smooching over the weekend for all the world to see.

Yep. The cute couple didn't hesitate to show how they feel about each other by pausing three (yes, three!) times to lock lips as they shopped and strolled in New York City on Sunday.

Of course, these two will be seen utilizing similar moves when their flick, The Amazing Spider-Man, hits theaters this summer.

Diane Kruger reigns supreme as Marie Antoinette

Can a German actress and a Greek goddess portray a legendary French queen? When the star in question is Diane Kruger, the answer is a resounding yes.

The first batch of stills from the "Troy" and "Inglourious Basterds" star's upcoming French-language film, Les Adieux a la Reine, (or, in English, Farewell, My Queen) have arrived, showing off the splendor of Versailles. Kruger plays Marie Antoinette in this Berlin Film Festival-opening picture. The festival on Wednesday revealed the film's plot in press release announcing its screening:

Versailles in July 1789. Unrest is growing in the court of King Louis the XVI. The people are rebelling - a revolution is imminent. Behind the facades of the royal palaces, everyone is thinking of fleeing, including Queen Marie Antoinette (Diane Kruger) and her entourage. Among her ladies-in-waiting is Sidonie Laborde (Lea Seydoux) who as the Queen's reader has become quite intimate with her. With great amazement, Sidonie experiences the first hours of the French Revolution.

Seydoux is best known in America for her roles in "Midnight in Paris" as enchanting antiques dealer Gabrielle and as an assassin in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

A Q&A with Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto

It's been a tough year for Nintendo.

Revenue at the venerable game company is plunging. Its stock price has been cut in half. And initial sales of its new 3DS handheld game machine were so disappointing that Nintendo dropped its price less than six months after launch.

But don't count the company out. When Nintendo released the Wii console five years ago, many analysts thought it would be an also-ran behind Sony and Microsoft's more powerful game machines. Instead, it dominated the industry.

Nintendo is hoping for a similar resurgence now. Next year it will release the Wii U, which will replace the Wii and finally bring high-definition gaming to Nintendo fans. In the meantime, the company is counting on its game studios to deliver some hits.

Leading the company's development efforts is legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, whose hits include "Mario Bros." and "Donkey Kong." He recently talked with this newspaper about the company's new games, the new console and the competition from smartphones and tablets. His comments have been edited for space and clarity.

Blake Lively, Jude Law & Channing Tatum Leading Soderbergh's 'The Side Effects'

When he couldn't agree with Warner Bros. on the casting and budget for "The Man From U.N.C.L.E," Soderbergh decided to make something else -- a psychological thriller penned by frequent collaborator Scott Z. Burns ("The Informant!," "Contagion") called "The Side Effects" (the project has reverted to its initial title after flirting with the name "The Bitter Pill"). Announced late last year, with several companies vying to make the project, now, two weeks into 2012, The Playlist can reveal that the financing looks to be locked down, and Soderbergh has found his principal cast.

"Gossip Girl" and "Green Lantern" star Blake Lively will topline "The Side Effects" as Emily Hawkins, a woman who turns to prescription meds to cope with the anxiety of the upcoming release from prison of her husband. Channing Tatum, who features in both "Haywire" and "Magic Mike," will make it three in a row by taking the role of the husband, while Jude Law, who was part of the ensemble cast of "Contagion," will play Lively's new psychiatrist. While no deals are officially done, they will be imminently (casting has been underway since early December).

All That Free Spotify Music You've Been Enjoying Is Going To End Soon

Spotify made its big U.S. debut on July 14, 2011. In one week, we'll be marking the streaming music service's six-month anniversary.

And in one week, all those users who signed up for the free all you can eat desktop music that day will find out that they're going to be limited to just 10 hours per month now. You're also only allowed to play individual tracks no more than five times per month. (Some of users have already received notices from Spotify that the party's over.)

That's because Spotify's unlimited music on your desktop feature, which is ad-supported, is only a limited time offer. After your six month period is up, Spotify will hold you to 10 hours of streaming per month with hopes that you'll sign up for one of its paid plans. Those paid plans cost $4.99 per month for ad-free desktop streaming and $9.99 for access to the mobile app.

Snoop Dogg arrested in TX for weed

Snoop Dogg isn't the only canine with a nose for weed ... TMZ has learned the rapper was arrested in Texas this weekend after a drug-sniffing dog uncovered marijuana on his tour bus.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... Snoop's tour bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca -- a small town in West Texas where Willie Nelson was popped for weed back in 2010.

We're told the border patrol ran a standard inspection of the bus with the dog ... when the animal alerted the agents to a possible hit in a waste basket in the back of the vehicle.

The agents claim they found a red prescription bottle with several joints inside. We're told the bottle contained under a half-ounce of weed.

Cops say Snoop admitted the dope belonged to him. Snoop has a prescription for cannabis in California, but law enforcement tells us, there is a zero tolerance policy for weed in Texas ... regardless of his status in other states.

Snoop was issued a citation for misdemeanor drug possession and released. If convicted on the drug charge, Snoop could face up to 180 days in jail.

Attempts to reach the rapper's rep were unsuccessful.

The war on drugs is complete bullshit....

Jon Hamm lets Mad Men return date out of the bag

Jon Hamm got ahead of AMC when he revealed that "Mad Men" would return to the air on March 25 for the show's fifth season, a date confirmed by sources.

Hamm mentioned the date offhandedly while appearing on Doug Benson's podcast "Doug Loves Movies,"
where he competed in a movie trivia tournament and bantered with fellow guests Anthony Jesknik and Paul F. Tompkins. "In 40 years you'll be a ... has-been," Jeselnik teased Don Draper's alter ego. "You're right, Anthony," Hamm responded without skipping a beat. "I look forward to the ensuing 40 years of awesomeness, however."

The next season of "Mad Men" has been long delayed (Season 4 ended in the fall of 2010), at least in part by drawn-out contract negotiations among creator Matt Weiner, AMC and Lionsgate. Weiner previously expressed dismay about how that situation played out: "It was public, and there was no reason for that. But ... the most important things for me are that after it's over, I get to go back to work and that we get to do three more years of the show."

Now fans can mark their calendars and look forward to the season premiere, reported to be directed by Hamm himself.

I know that it was reported that the show would be back in March, but I'm glad that we (finally) have an actual date. What do you want to see on season 5, ontd?

Sherlock: it's all about the double act

Forget the hokey plots – what really makes Sherlock great TV is Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch's chemistry

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

What is it about Sherlock that has the nation turning on in their millions? Surely it can't be for hokey stories about massive dogs or dominatrixes who enjoy booting feminism back to the dark ages. Or direction that majors heavily on floating words, or confusingly outdated references to "cameraphones". No, the reason that people watch Sherlock is because of the interplay between Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch – who might just qualify as one of the greatest TV double acts of all time.

The relationship between Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson has always been important, but past representations of Holmes have often erred on the side of the staid, logical pipe-smoking period detective, with more space given over to the case than the character. This ossification of what began as a genuinely eccentric figure left little room for Watson to react to Holmes, which is basically the only reason he exists.

Katy Perry cancels appearance at People's Choice Awards

Just days after Katy Perry broke her silence for the first time since news of her split from husband Russell Brand, the singer has announced she'll no longer be attending the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards," she tweeted on Monday (January 9) about her previously scheduled appearance. "I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS." The singer is up for seven awards at the show, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Song of the Year for her Kanye West-assisted "E.T."

A week after Brand filed for divorce from his pop-star wife of 14 months, Perry used the social-networking site to thank her fans for sticking by her during this trying personal time — without directly confirming the split. "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world," she wrote. "You guys have made my heart happy again."

In another tweet, she addressed the tabloid chatter that has been swirling since news of the split hit the Web on December 30. "Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me," she said, "Not a blog, magazine, 'close sources' or my family."

Perry's still scheduled to make two appearances on her California Dreams Tour later this month, one on January 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and another on January 22 in the Philippines, according to her website. With the PCA appearance canceled, Perry's next awards-show appearance could take place February 12 at the Grammys, where she's up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Firework."

Which Profession Is Most Misrepresented Onscreen?

Posted on Monday January 9, 2012, 11:40 by Helen O'Hara in Empire States

I awaited the debut of Eternal Law on ITV last week with some glee. It's a show about barristers who are also angels, and from the adverts I hoped for some massive legal clangers of the sort one used to see on Judge John Deeds. When the first episode failed to deliver anything completely outrageous* (beyond the obvious concept of barristers as angels), I got to thinking about which professions are most victimised by TV and film, their jobs distorted out of all recognition by the screen. I think I'm going to need input from our readers, especially those with first-hand knowledge, to really get to the bottom of this, but let's consider a few case studies first.

Kim Novak did not learn from last nite's Snooki Twitter post tbh

Actors might want to start thinking about not using the word "rape" when not referring to anything other than sexual assault. In the past few years alone both Kristen Stewart and Johnny Depp found themselves in hot water when they used the term to describe being photographed and had to later apologize for using the term. Now screen legend Kim Novak has uttered the PR-nightmarish word, but instead of referring to getting her picture taken, she's  talking about Michel Hazanavicius using the score from Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo in The Artist.

Novak recently watched a screener of Hazanavicius' movie and was horrified to discover that the filmmaker made use of Bernard Herrmann's music from the Hitchcock classic. "I want to report a rape," Novak said in an official statement. "My body of work has been violated by The Artist. This film took the Love Theme music from Vertigo and used the emotions it engenders as its own." The actress believes that the recent film uses the music to "unconsciously or consciously" bring back feelings felt by audiences watching Hitchcock's film and feels that it's a form of cheating. She does recognize that Herrmann is given credit at the end of the film, but feels that a bigger principle is at play. "It is essential that all artists safeguard our special bodies of work for posterity, with their individual identities intact and protected," Novak said.

Following the comments, THR reached out to Hazanavicius for comment and he responded by saying that The Artist as a whole is a love letter to old Hollywood, and his way of showing "admiration and respect" for classic films. "I love Bernard Hermann and his music has been used in many different films and I’m very pleased to have it in mine," Hazanavicius said. "I respect Kim Novak greatly and I’m sorry to hear she disagrees."

This actually brings up an interesting debate. Is it unfair for a filmmaker to use emotional and/or iconic music from a previous source for a movie, or is the nostalgia factor a legitimate excuse? What do you think?

Sorry mods! I used a different source!

ONTD! I know you all will behave in this post, right??????

Confidential to Ms. Novak! U are not even my third favorite Hitchcock Blonde tbh! Tippi >>>>>>>>>>>> this bitch

Kate Beckinsale: I didn't "run off" with the director of Underworld

It has long been assumed that Kate Beckinsale left her long-term partner Michael Sheen for the director Len Wiseman after meeting on the set of Underworld in 2002. However, in an Entertainment Weekly interview to promote the latest film in the franchise, Underworld: Awakening, Beckinsale has claimed the rumors are untrue.

“The popular notion of how Michael and I broke up — that we were on [the first Underworld] and I ran off with the director — is just not true. If that were the case, I think it would be very difficult and peculiar to have an okay situation."

Ex-wife gives her version of events

Wiseman’s ex-wife, a kindergarden teacher named Dana, had previously claimed that her husband was unfaithful.

"They are saying their relationship started in January 2003 after we separated - but that is simply not true. Some girls know how to treat other woman and some don't."

Dana believes the affair began while they were filming Underworld in Budapest.

"That's where it all happened. Kate was never nice to me - not from day one. I was in Budapest for three months and Kate didn't have a good word to say to me."

After Dana suspected her husband's affair with Beckinsale, she fled back to America alone.

Ariana Grande writes article about bullying for Huffington Post

I want to start this article by saying I just recently I found out that one of my fans took their own life due to bullying. And even though I never got a chance to meet them in person, I feel like I've lost a dear friend. My fans are my family and I never want to see them struggle. It pains me so deeply to see how many lovely young people we're losing in this world to peer pressure and hurtful words, and I'm going to do my part to make sure that this never happens again.

People tend to think that because I'm a performer and I don't go to a regular high school that I haven't personally been effected by bullies. But it's actually quite the contrary. I still have to deal with people in my everyday life, even adults who act as if they're in middle school and make it very clear to me that they don't want me around. Naturally, it's taken me a long time to figure out how to deal with that. One of the most terrible feelings in the world is knowing that someone else doesn't like you. Especially when you don't know what you've done to deserve it. You start to believe that you are the problem and that you need to change something about yourself to be liked, but I've come to learn that it's really not our problem, it's theirs.

Michelle Williams’ Twitter Absence Angers Fans

Looks like the arrival of Baby Blue Ivy is causing quite the stir on all fronts. Former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams got pummeled by words of anger and extreme criticism all because she refused to comply with the now universally acceptable way to convey any relevant emotion which would have involved, Tweeting her congratulatory message to the proud parents.

A lot of the messages Williams received accused her of not showing the appropriate support to someone everyone thought was not just an ex-band member but also a close friend.

Ezra Miller gives another semi-profound, semi-ridiculous interview; hair remains uncut and unsightly

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A tall, pale, floppy-haired youth loiters below the High Line on West 20th Street, rolling a cigarette, laconically considering the hopes and dreams of others. As he’s proven twice in the past year, in Another Happy Day and We Need to Talk About Kevin, Ezra Miller is a very convincing tortured adolescent. He has the coloring and bone structure of a vampire. At 19, he’s got both acne and gray hairs. When and if he can grow a mustache, he wants to play Edgar Allan Poe.

Over 7 months away and tickets for The Dark Knight Rises are already selling out!

That's right, tickets for Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman installment are already on sale for select cities.

Slashfilm reveals that through Fandango, tickets for NYC, LA and San Francisco have gone on sale.

Meanwhile, The Film Stage reports that tickets for The Dark Knight Rises went on sale with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in New York City - and are sold out!

So far it looks as if the tickets are just for AMC IMAX theaters and for those cities.

We'll be sure to update when regular tickets go on sale -- but not until after we already grab ourselves some!

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra's al Ghul.

Lindsay, Liz, Lifetime

Lindsay Lohan could go from posing as Marilyn Monroe in Playboy to playing Elizabeth Taylor for Lifetime.

The actress is in early talks to play the big-screen icon in a television movie for the female-skewing cable network, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The project is not a new one and has been in development at Lifetime since last May. Independent producer Larry Thompson, who previously worked with the cabler on its 2010 telepic Amish Grace, is overseeing the project.

Lohan, a former child model turned actress (and singer), has -- like Taylor -- seen her fair share of career highs and lows. Since debuting in Disney's 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, Lohan starred in features including Freaky Friday, Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded.

More recently, Lohan in November was sentenced to jail time due to a violation of her probation. The actress, who failed to attend court-ordered therapy sessions, was also kicked out of the Downtown Women's Center, where she had been assigned to complete community service hours, after arriving late. Lohan ended up spending less than five hours in jail on Nov. 7 due to overcrowding.

Lohan, a longtime fan of Monroe, posed for the January/February issue of Playboy, for which she reportedly received $1 million.
