Andy Cohen Gets A Promotion

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Andy Cohen has been bringing “the 411″ on all things Bravo from his boozy late night talk show, Watch What Happens Live, since 2009. But as many a dedicated Housewives fan will tell you, two nights a week of NeNe Lekes is simply never enough. Bravo announced on Monday that beginning Jan. 8, 2012, Watch What Happens will air five original episodes a week, making it the only daily live show on late night television. Fun fact: It is also the only daily live show on late night television that prominently features a turtle named after a perpetually drunk New York socialite.

Eva Green is a Tim Burton fan (but don't hold it against her)

Eva Green Pictures, Images and Photos

The French actress recently finished filming the new movie Dark Shadows alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

Eva was thrilled to work with the gothic director and has been a fan of his work for years.

"Tim Burton is a filmmaker and a painter that I worship,” she said in an interview with French publication L'Express. “I visited, I don't know how many times, his exhibition at the MoMA, New York City. It will be shown soon in Paris. When he called me, I was so delighted.”

However, the Casino Royale star admitted she struggled with the first few weeks of filming. Eva was intimidated by Hollywood stars Johnny and Michelle Pfeiffer.

“The day after, I started to put a lot of pressure on myself,” she confessed. “I am always anxious before shooting - this time, I was petrified. The first two weeks were really difficult. I was fazed by Johnny Depp, and, most of all, by Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays my rival in the movie. Tim believed in me and he did everything to make me feel comfortable. Finally, it was the most beautiful shoot of my life."

Dark Shadows is an adaptation of a sixties American TV show that followed a family of vampires and witches. Eva plays Angélique Bouchard, a powerful with who is driven by her love for vampire Barnabas Collins, played by Johnny.

The 31-year-old revealed she can identify with strong characters.

"I enjoyed my meeting with Johnny Depp. We share a passion for metamorphosis and weird characters,” she explained. “It's inside me that everything happens. I am like a pressure-cooker which never explodes. When I get angry, it's more like Eva against Eva. Sometimes, I'd like to scream, but I can only manage to do it in movies. My mother tells me that I have multiples personalities -and it's true! I often have the sensation to be self-effacing, super shy and, suddenly, I am able to say outrageous remarks. It's pretty incomprehensible, even for me," she laughed.

Dark Shadows will be released from May next year.

The 50 Greatest American Independent Movies

As much as blockbusters can thrill us, beyond the well-tended flowerbeds and spacious corner offices of Hollywood there's a world bubbling with creativity, free spirits and up-and-coming talent. Some of the heroes of American indie cinema have gone on to try their hand at multiplex fodder; some have stayed resolutely outside the mainstream. This roll of honour celebrates both, as well as some of the names that didn't achieve the acclaim they deserve. But how you define 'indie'? Do big studios' independent arms count? Should Miramax's output qualify? Our criteria is aesthetic rather than financial: if it feels like an indie, it's in; if it's The Phantom Menace, it's not. Ultimately though, whether they're made for millions or 50p and bits of pocket fluff, it's about great movies that are worth celebrating again...

1. Mean Streets (1973)

Director: Martin Scorsese
Father Martin Scorsese. Stated simply like that, those three words just don't scan correctly, but if Martin Scorsese had gone with his first love, the priesthood, instead of his second, making movies, we'd never had Goodfellas, or Raging Bull, or Taxi Driver, or Kundun. OK, maybe forget the last one, and replace it with Mean Streets which, to this day, remains probably Scorsese's most personal and powerful work. A strange mixture of seedy violence, frank nudity and the sort of language you'd expect to hear from gangsters in New York's Little Italy, the film is nonetheless drenched in a veil of Catholic guilt (lead Harvey Keitel, as Charlie, a small-time hood who knows that he should get the hell out of the game, constantly chastises and tests himself) and seems to act as a permanent celluloid confessional for Scorsese's baser instincts. For this alone, this gritty Lower East Side drama would be worth noting, but it's also shot through with hints of Scorsese's virtuosity (the wonderful pop-infused soundtrack and the scene where a drunk Keitel teeters through a bar in one disorienting shot), and tantalising glimpses of his future preoccupations: gangsters, the mores of masculinity and a rich and varied partnership with one Mr. R. De Niro, so magnetic here as wildcard wiseguy Johnny Boy. It’s strange to think that with a quirk of casting it could have been Jon Voight joining the ranks of the mooks.

Joe Camel is a Scrooge, yall

It looks like Jay-z can’t win when it comes to Occupy Wall Street

Last week, it was reported that Jay-z made OWS supporters real mad after refusing to share profits from Rocawear’s ‘Occupy All Streets’ tees with the actual Occupy Wall Street movement. An angry sculptor who was livid that Jay, who earned $63 million last year, would profit from people who were being arrested for what they believe to be one of the most important social justice movements of our generation, created a piece which he describes as a Scrooge Totem pole.

The sculpture, created by artist Daniel Edwards, features Jay-Z wearing chains with a big dollar sign on his chest at the base and animated characters that have played the money-hungry Scrooge character on television stacked on top of him. Above Jay is Mr. Burns from ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Scrooge McDuck’ from Disney’s ‘Christmas Carol,’ and Richie Rich.

Sure, "Breaking Dawn" earned a gobsmacking $235 million worldwide this weekend, and the first film adaptation of "The Hunger Games" is drawing unsightly levels of anticipation. But if you think those young adult novels are popular, just imagine what kind of excitement a big screen adaptation of this series could bring.

Talking with reporters in support of her upcoming dark comedy, "Young Adult," Oscar-winner Diablo Cody got a chance to talk about one of her next projects: a movie version of the beloved YA series, "Sweet Valley High."

Katy Perry talking about her pregnancy rumors!

Call off the Katy Perry bump watch! Although Russell Brand's 27-year-old wife says she wants kids someday, she's not pregnant yet!

"I still love drinking alcohol, so [no kids] yet," Perry told The Insider at the American Music Awards on Sunday. "I like In-N-Out Burger and Taco Bell, and if you want to make that pregnant, that's your problem."

At a recent concert in NYC, the "Firework" singer told fans any bump they thought they saw wasn't an indicator that she was pregnant; she'd just indulged in too much "NYC pizza!"

But earlier this month on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Perry said having children is "one of the reasons you get married."

"Especially to the person that you marry. You think, that person is going to be a good partner, a good parent," she explained. "But, I'm not sure it's time yet. We'll see, ya know?"

She added that "if it doesn't hurt the first time, I'll keep popping them out!" ( i think shes talking about the padding y'all!!!)

Amy Poehler is awesome, but you knew that already

It's official, Amy Poehler has serious power now.

On Saturday, the comedian, actress and writer was honored with Variety's 2011 Power Of Comedy Award at a star-studded event in Los Angeles. Like the recent Mark Twain Prize, which honored Will Ferrell, the event had no shortage of laughs and industry jokes.

Ferrell was on hand to present the award to Poehler, as was Poehler's husband Will Arnett, who presented a video in her honor while attempting -- and failing -- to not talk about the return of Arrested Development.

But the biggest laughs of the night were scored by Poehler herself during her acceptance speech, as she outlined some of the women-friendly pilots she would soon be pitching as the direct result of her new-found power. Check out her speech below.

Judd Apatow thinks the Oscars should have a comedy category

producer Judd Apatow would like to see something new at the Oscars. Seems the Academy’s categorization system is making him somewhat blue (okay, I’ll stop with the wedding puns): At a Los Angeles Times forum, the funnyman complained that the Oscars have largely ignored comedies, and would be smart to create a separate category for the entire genre. After all, Apatow argued, animated features have been separated into their own category. “It doesn’t seem like it’s screwing up Schindler’s List for Hangover to have its own category,” he said. “Since comedies are rarely up for Oscars, it does make sense to have a comedy category. It would just add more fun categories.”

I guess I kind of agree with Judd. I mean, he has a film (Bridesmaids) that is a legit Oscar contender, but will probably get pushed aside. Also, he deserved a screenplay nomination for The Forty Year Old Virgin, imo.

USC Study Confirms Gender Inequality in Film

Cinema trends ebb and flow, but one facet of Hollywood moviemaking proving remarkably consistent is gender inequality, according to a study being released Monday by USC's Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism.

In a survey of the top 100-grossing movies of 2009 — including "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" — researchers found that 32.8% of the 4,342 speaking characters were female and 67.2% were male, a percentage identical to that of the top-grossing movies of 2008.

"We see remarkably stable trends," said USC Annenberg associate professor Stacy L. Smith. "This reveals an industry formula for gender that may be outside of people's conscious awareness."

Bieber Took Paternity Test, Likely Tampered With By Illuminati, Won't Believe til Confirmed by Maury

It's been a tough couple of weeks for Justin Bieber as the "Baby" singer fights off accusations he fathered a baby with a fan, Mariah Yeater.

But it may be almost over: Bieber has taken a paternity test in New Jersey, according to a TMZ report.

A rep for Bieber had no comment on the paternity test but a source told PEOPLE the singer planned to submit DNA last Friday.

Although Yeater's lawsuit was dropped last week, her new team of lawyers says she still wanted to pursue her claim outside the courtroom.

Pariah's Actresses Get a Workout

Comic actress Kim Wayans gets a showcase for her dramatic skills as a mother trapped in a difficult marriage who rejects her lesbian daughter (Adepero Oduye) in the upcoming film Pariah.

The women, who both deliver award-caliber performances in Dee Rees's searing drama, discuss the difficulties in playing their tormented characters with Variety.

"There's a scene where I tell Kim, who plays my mom, that I love her," Oduye says. "And that was maybe the most difficult scene in the entire movie for me because of how she reacts."

Oduye believes anyone who feels like an outsider can relate to her character. "I think this character is powerful because we've all felt like outsiders, like we have a secret that's embarrassing or that will make people judge us," says Oduye, who has just completed several shorts and is considering new projects. "It's about becoming completely who you are."

Wayans, identified with outrageous comic characters such as Beita Butrell on the series In Loving Color, fought for the role of the conflicted mother after reading the script. "I think everyone knows me as a part of this big Wayans family that does a lot of comedy films," Wayans says. "But I really wanted to show them that I could do this."

With strong reviews since the film's premiere at Sundance last January, it's unlikely Wayans will have to fight to be considered for dramatic roles in the future. "Now I can get in the room to read for a part," Wayans says. "I'll always be thankful for that."

Pariah will be released in theaters December 28.

Album predictions: Nickelback to beat out Rihanna for #1 spot

According to Hits Daily Double, the following are what this week’s new releases are set to push:

Nickelback (Roadrunner) 225-250k
Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 180-200k
Daughtry (19/RCA) 140-160k
Mary J. Blige (Geffen) 120-140k
Big Time Rush (Nickelodeon/Columbia) 90-110k
Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 75-90k
Michael Jackson (Epic) 50-60k
Bob Seger, Ultimate Hits (Capitol) 50-55k
Yelawolf (Ghet-O-Vision/Shady/Interscope) 40-50k (11/22p)
Surely I speak for the masses when I say “WOW”!

Six albums, six years, and countless number ones later, Rihanna is still unable to command first week numbers worthy of her “status”. A status, which these horrid numbers show, is little more than smoke and mirrors. I mean which ever way it’s spun, the writing’s on the wall: she ain’t no diva.

Still, though, the final numbers and placings will make for an unmissable read. One thing’s certain; for the 6th consecutive time, Rihanna will not land a #1 album. Smells like a flop if you ask us – especially after the success of ‘We Found Love’.

That Rihanna reign just won't let up!!

Bruce Willis for Sobieski Vodka!

As some of you may know, Bruce Willis recently became a part owner of Sobieski Vodka, the #1 premium vodka in Poland. As some of you may also know, Bruce is a hands on kind of guy, and when he's into something, he's into it 100%. I thought you'd like to check out some of Bruce's latest ideas for his favorite vodka. Now keep in mind that some of the ideas still have a few bugs that need to be worked out. But hey, when you're an inventor like Bruce Willis, you know that comes with the territory.

This is a sponsored post by Sobieski....that's great and all, but I should have at least worked out how to get a bottle of this stuff! I've heard that it's actually decent vodka!!

Plus... I heart Bruce Willis. I don't know what it is, but whatever he does is damn sexy. This video is damn sexy.

PS: says "Sobieski is a great addition to the American vodka market and easily beats many widely known "ultra premium" vodkas. Pick up a bottle as soon as you can." agrees, "An outstanding vodka for the money. Head and shoulders above the competition at its price point, and making the much more expensive vodkas look to be just that." wrote, “Clear. Spicy aromas of star anise, cream, minerals and powdered sugar follow through to a round, silky entry and a smooth off-dry medium-to-full body with a long, lingering whipped cream, spice, rye dough, and sweet citrus fade with virtually no heat. Great subtle, pure, and spicy rye flavors with a lively texture and superb smoothness. An incredible value in a world of high priced vodkas.”

I'm sold... I'll be right back. :)

Late Night's The Roots Played the Song "Lyin' Ass Bitch" as Michele Bachman Enters

The Roots made their displeasure with congresswoman Michele Bachmann subtly known on last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, playing the GOP presidential candidate on with a cover of Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch.”

Prior to the appearance, drummer Questlove tweeted a heads up to his followers: “Aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause I aint tweeting title.”

The musical criticisms have become something of a Late Night in-joke, with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt being welcomed to “Loser” by Beck, Ashley Simpson arriving on set to the sounds of a Milli Vanilli song, and staunch illegal immigration opponent Lou Dobbs making his way to the guest chair while “Illegal Alien” by Genesis played in the back.

Blind Item: Who is about to walk on The Walking Dead

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

How’s your vision today? Good? Good, ’cause you’re gonna wanna be 20/20 or better for today’s Blind Item. It concerns one of the stars of AMC’s The Walking Dead and their desire to… well, walk.

The backstage drama all started when series creator Frank Darabont was ousted. A whole lotta people were upset, you’ll recall, and this one person, so much so that he/she asked to be released from his/her contract. But, according to my moles, a funny thing happened between the time the request was made and when it was potentially granted.

A change of heart.

Now this member of the ensemble wants to stay. But it may be too late. (Even my sources don’t know for sure at this point whether the character is going to be written off, although one insider insists he/she ultimately got their wish.)

So, your guesses? Who’s the Darabont loyalist who wanted his/her Walking papers, then decided they wanted them torn up?

My guess is Jon Bernthal who plays Shane. When Darabont was fired he was extremely vocal of his distaste for AMC and their decision.

Kelley then quipped that their busy schedules also prevent him from getting on his wife's nerves too often.

Long-rumored, Facebook’s entry into the ever-changing smartphone market now seems confirmed. In fact, the company recently is said to have signed HTC to build its first handset, although Samsung could also become a partner as well.

According to the report, Facebook’s handset will be deeply integrated into its current services and support HTML5 as a platform for apps.

Palm Springs International Film Festival honours Michelle Williams with the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award

MUMBAI: Proud grandfather Amitabh Bachchan, who brought home daughter-in-law Aishwarya and her baby today, says the newborn looks like her actress mother and will be given a name soon.

The 38-year-old actress was admitted to hospital on November 14 and gave birth to the ninth Bachchan two days later.

"Aishwarya had a normal delivery. She was firm on having so, despite being in acute labour for three hours. Aishwarya and the baby were brought home today. Both are doing well," senior Bachchan, 69, told reporters in their first media interaction since the birth of the baby.

The newest father in town, Abhishek Bachchan is still in mood of celebrating his daughter’s birth. The family is still getting congratulatory messages and calls from their loved ones and they have gracefully accepted all the wishes.

The excited father, Abhishek Bachchan says, “The baby was brought back an hour ago. She is a darling and very obedient. She hasn't given me sleepless nights yet. I now feel like a paa and I am learning it all from my paa (father). The moment we brought her to the house, we took her to the mandir at home built by my grandfather. "

Abhishek adds, “The feeling of being a father has not sunk in yet... I have learnt to balance personal and professional life from my parents only.” When asked if he is taking a break from work to be with his daughter, he states, “I am not taking any break from work, in fact I will start promoting ‘Players’ from tomorrow itself.”

First look at Tom Felton in mini-series 'Labyrinth'

For anyone keeping an eye on Tom Felton's official Twitter, the Harry Potter actor is currently in South Africa filming his mini-series, Labyrinth, an adaptation of Kate Mosse's book, in which he portrays the Viscount Trencavel. The first promotional images of Tom from the film have been released by ORF, and can be seen, thanks to Feltbeats' tip, below. The film has a 2012 release worldwide, though no current distributor in the United States.

"The spectacular actors Tom Felton and Tony Curran are close to the already assembled brilliant team. I am very pleased to have found such an extraordinarily talented young actor who is still the same age as the historical figure of Viscount Trencavel. Trencavel was a incredible young man, very wise, and I'm sure that Tom Felton will live up to his memory and legacy," says Tim Halkin, Managing Director and Partner at Tandem Communications and Executive Producer.

Liza Marshall, head of Scott Free London and executive producer, said, "Tony Curran and Tom Felton currently rank among the best actors of Great Britain, they have an international reputation, and we are very proud of them to count them among our wonderful cast."
