NBA lockout continues

After the National Basketball Players Association executive committee and team player representatives met for about three hours Tuesday in New York, the union delivered the same response to the league's latest contract offer that it had when talks broke off early Sunday.

"The current offer that is on the table from the NBA is not one that we can accept," NBPA president Derek Fisher said. "Our orders are also clear that we're willing to continue to negotiate and we are willing to continue discussions on potential compromises on our economics for some continued improvements in the system."
NBPA executive director Billy Hunter said he will reach out to NBA Commissioner David Stern and try to set up a meeting before Stern's 5 p.m. ET deadline Wednesday for players to accept the deal or get a worse offer.
The league is offering a 50-50 split of basketball-related income (BRI) and more restrictive system issues than in the last collective bargaining agreement. Stern said the offer will drop to a 53%-47% split in favor owners and a firm hard salary cap unless the union accepts the current offer.
Some players wanted to take a vote on the current offer, but Fisher said it was not what the player reps were ready to do.
"We're unified," Hunter said. "As much as they want to play basketball, they're still of the mind-set that they're not going to accept a bad deal, and that's the message we have to send to the other side. We're prepared to negotiate objectively and fairly but we expect the same thing from our adversary — the NBA and their representatives." Hunter said he heard the league would cancel games through Christmas if the deadline passed, but Stern later said, "We have made no such plans, we've had no such discussions."
The union understands the passing of the deadline could lead to an impasse and the possibility of a lost season. It also wants a deal that isn't so onerous to them. The issues have crystallized. "We've made the compromises that needed to be made on BRI, and it's now time for the NBA to make significant compromises on the system," Fisher said.
The union has gone from 57% to 50% of BRI, a $280 million difference in the first year of a new CBA. But it expects the NBA to relent on system issues — the means in which players can choose their employer and how the money is distributed to them, specifically in relation to taxpaying clubs. The union believes the league's proposal contains harsh restrictions on taxpaying teams will discourage teams from signing certain free agents.

President Clinton sides with labour, has a gift for Derek Fisher

Former President Bill Clinton wasted no time after the NBA Players Association's press conference on Tuesday in handing a gift to fellow Arkansan Derek Fisher, president of NBA Player's Association.
If you followed various staked-out NBA scribes on Twitter during Tuesday afternoon, you likely noticed the mentions of President Clinton hanging around the lobby of the hotel where the NBA Players Association was meeting to discuss its collective take on the NBA's latest collective bargaining agreement proposal. And, if you follow the NBA, you probably already know that the players have summarily rejected the league's latest offer, preferring to negotiate with the league on Wednesday before David Stern's threat to pull all "rational" offers off the table at the end of the business day.
What you may have missed following the televised presser was the part where Clinton walked up to Fisher and offered him a copy of Clinton's new book, entitled "Back to Work." If you're thinking I'm attempting a lame joke I can't blame you -- but this is actually the name of the book. Clinton is in New York to promote his newest offering on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" Tuesday night.

Brett Ratner Out as Oscar Show Producer

In recent days, the "Tower Heist" director said that "rehearsal is for fags" and discussed his sex life on Howard Stern's radio show.

Director Brett Ratner is out as Oscar producer, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The Academy and Ratner have just released statements confirming his exit.

Ratner released a statement soon after THR reported his exit.

"I called Tom Sherak this morning and resigned as a producer of the 84th Academy Awards telecast. Being asked to help put on the Oscar show was the proudest moment of my career. But as painful as this may be for me, it would be worse if my association with the show were to be a distraction from the Academy and the high ideals it represents," he stated.

The Academy released a statement also confirming Ratner's exit.

"He did the right thing for the Academy and for himself," Sherak said in a statement from the Academy. "Words have meaning, and they have consequences. Brett is a good person, but his comments were unacceptable. We all hope this will be an opportunity to raise awareness about the harm that is caused by reckless and insensitive remarks, regardless of the intent."

Glee's new stranger bitch talks to Entertainment Weekly

Grant Gustin always planned on moving to New York to take the stage world by storm. Well on his way to doing so, that’s when life threw him a little Gleetour.

Glee found me,” Gustin, who made his debut on tonight’s episode as Sebastian Smithe, tells EW exclusively. “I didn’t really go looking for it. The plan was to be on stage [and then do TV/film] and the order of what I wanted to do flip-flopped.”

Gustin was performing as part of a tour for West Side Story when he went out for a small dancing part on Glee, only to be called back and eventually offered the part of Sebastian, a new addition to the Warblers who set his sights on Blaine. (Trivia: The character was actually originally named Cameron Connors!) But having “never played a villain” before, Gustin says he has taken a liking to Sebastian’s evil ways.

Michael Jackson's death bed among items up for auction

LOS ANGELES - The bed where Michael Jackson took his last breath is up for sale.

The queen-size piece is among hundreds of items from the Holmby Hills mansion where Jackson spent his final days that are set to hit the auction block next month.

"We want to preserve the history of these items," said celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien, president of Julien's Auctions, which will sell the various antique furnishings, paintings and sculptures that surrounded the King of Pop as he prepared for a series of comeback concerts.

what do you think? katherine's lawyer says this won't have anything to do with michael or the family but i don't know... how can this sort of stuff just be shuffled off to auction, appraised, and sold without any mention of the items' origin? wouldn't the owner and/or history of an item change its value? if there's truly no value in them, and since his death was so tragic--there's also no mention about whether or not this auction was his or the family's wish--why not just destroy this stuff? like the make-up smudged furniture and his personal effects? the house, i can understand letting that stand and go through the regular real estate channels, but his personal items including the bed where he died and the chalkboard with the kids' writing on it being auctioned as-is? i don't know......

Darren Aronofsky's Four Disturbing Anti-meth PSAs

If there’s one film that could scare fifth graders away from drugs forever, it would be director Darren Aronofky‘s 2000 drama, Requiem for a Dream. Perhaps no other major motion picture in history better captured the horror of heroin and speed addiction, as we watched the film’s characters lose their dignity, limbs and sanity due to a heavy reliance on drugs.

One could argue that Requiem is the ultimate anti-drug PSA. (Some even argue that the director’s most recent hit, Black Swan, could be seen as an anti-ballet PSA, or at least an anti-Natalie Portman PSA.) So, when agency Organic and prodco Wild Plum were looking their next celebrity director to helm the camera for a new series of spots for the Meth Project, Aronofsky’s name was undoubtedly at the top of the list. After all, the Meth Project “aims to reduce first-time meth use with its hard-hitting and graphic portrayals,” and it doesn’t get more graphic than the above attempted suicide spot, does it?

Has American pop culture become too dumb for Beavis and Butt-Head?

At one point in the first incarnation of the 1990s television show "Beavis and Butt-Head," heavy metal-loving, pop-culture-eviscerating co-star Butt-Head made the following observation: "Some people are dumb."

Oh, Butt-Head, if only you knew what was to come.

MTV — the network that first aired "Beavis and Butt-Head," a show many condemned as a celebration of stupidity — has now brought the awkward and offensive teens back with new episodes. Like most mature adult men, I tuned in with nostalgic excitement.

The crudely animated pair sounded the same as always — nasally, mildly profane, wildly immature. They poked fun at music videos and, in a new twist, some of the reality television shows that now dominate MTV's programming.

But it all seemed to fall flat. Gone was the edginess the show had when it first came along and bothered the daylights out of social conservatives who feared it would launch a generation of Satanists and pyromaniacs.

I thought about this for a few minutes. The original "Beavis and Butt-Head" show went off the air more than a decade ago. In the absence of those hormone-addled fools, we've devolved into an entertainment culture focused on Kardashians and Lohans and random people eating buckets of bugs for money.

And then it hit me: Has the world become too stupid for Beavis and Butt-Head?

Joe Paterno to retire after football season ends* (*unless board decides otherwise)

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has decided to retire at the end of the season, his long career brought down by his failure to do more about an allegation of child sex abuse against a former assistant.

Paterno said in a statement Wednesday he is "absolutely devastated" by the developments in the case of Jerry Sandusky, a former defensive coordinator accused of molesting eight boys over 15 years.

Paterno says the board of trustees should "not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address."

"This is a tragedy," Paterno says. "It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more."

George Clooney Lost His Virginity When He Was How Old?!

George Clooney is coming clean.

The debonair dude, who definitely has a way with the ladies, reveals in the new issue of Rolling Stone that it's been a long time since his first time.

So, at exactly what age did Stacey Keibler's boyfriend begin bumpin' uglies?

16 years old!

"Young, very young, too young," the now 50-year-old actor tells the mag.

But the sex-related talk doesn't stop there, as Clooney also recalls—TMI alert!—his first orgasm.

"I believe it was while climbing a rope when I was six or seven years old,"
he says. "I mean, nothing came out, but all the other elements were there. I remember getting to the top of the rope, hanging off the rope, and going, 'Oh, my God, this feels great!' "

Are you still with us? Well, then, you probably wouldn't mind hearing about Clooney's fondness for flatulence as well.

"It's one of the funniest things in the history of mankind," he insists. "Even the idea of a fart makes me laugh. Saying the word 'fart' makes me laugh. I have iFart on my phone. I have remote whoopee cushions. Farts. To me, there's nothing funnier."

In other words, if you're ever around the guy, certainly look before you sit.

Kris Humphries' Dad Talks to Life & Style: Kris' Side of the Story

In an exclusive interview in Life & Style, Kris Humphries' dad, William Humphries, opens up his about his son's reaction to Kim Kardashian's filing for divorce and reveals how Kris is now coping with the split.

"There was never a discussion about it -- it just came out of nowhere and blindsided Kris," William claims in the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now. "How could someone do that? Kris was completely surprised. The news was already published before he found out!"

While a rep for Kim insists Kris, 26, did know the divorce was coming, friends and family say Kris, now back in his hometown of Chanhassen, Minn,. is still heartbroken. "He's hurting, but we're here for him," William reveals to Life & Style. "It's nice that he's here [in Minnesota] with family during this time."

Kris was so hurt by the news that he refused to even speak to his wife -- until she surprised him by flying to Minnesota on Nov. 6 to hash out the details of the divorce. "Kris told me that Kim was texting him a lot, but he wouldn't respond," his friend tells Life & Style. "They did speak briefly the day the split was announced -- but only because Kim was apparently pissed that Kris had released his own statement."

"It's not a nice situation. No matter how you look at it, he's going through a divorce," William adds.

It was a secret project, something she did for herself, when no one was photographing, suggesting, or looking over her shoulder. Every evening, after the children had gone to bed, after the nannies had called it quits and Brad had gone off to wherever movie stars go when the world sleeps, after the house had settled into a mellow blue hum, Angelina Jolie fired up her computer and went to work, tentatively at first, then blazing away. She poured everything she knew into the story, the sting of first love, the winding streets of old European cities, the horrors of war, some of it witnessed firsthand during her work for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Within a month, she had completed her first screenplay, In the Land of Blood and Honey, which, this December, becomes the feature directorial debut of Angelina Jolie.

If you settle for 20th century definitions, Nathan Fillion is a prime-time television star – after all, his Monday night series “Castle” is cruising through its fourth sly season on ABC with more than 13 million viewers a week. But in this pop-culture era of digital tribes it’s really not fair to limit his celebrity with that sort of remote-control thinking.

These are the days of compartmentalized fame and there are few better examples than Fillion, who is able to able to anchor a popular network series even as he puts together a dynamic resume of cult-audience projects, be they beautiful misfires (Joss Whedon’s “Firefly”), bold misfits (James Gunn’s “Super”), experimental farce (Whedon’s “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog”) or cosmic cartoons (he returns to the role of Green Lantern in the upcoming animated movie “Justice League: Doom”).

Since emerging from the ether in December 2009, the enigmatic electronic band and multimedia project has built a cult-like following of disciples dying to know: Who are these people? Through a series of interconnected videos layered with mysterious symbology, they’ve given us clues—a lock of blonde hair sent to MTV’s James Montgomery, numeric codes, animal drawings—but two years into their elaborate mystery, we’re still stumped. The only thing we do know is that they’re led by Swedish singer-songwriter Jonna Lee. We're not even sure which member of iamamiwhoami completed the following interview, because, as their representative tells us, "This project has chosen not to confirm or comment on the creators' involvement for the reason of letting their music and film speak for itself."

And the other Oscar shoe drops. . .

LOS ANGELES — Eddie Murphy is dropping out as the host of the Oscars telecast, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences said Wednesday, less than 24 hours after the show’s producer Brett Ratner stepped aside amid a storm of criticism over his use of an anti-gay slur over the weekend.

The hasty departures represented an embarrassing collapse of the Academy’s plans for the Oscar presentation and left it with just over three months to fill key roles for one of the most elaborately staged television shows of the year.

Mr. Ratner, who was named the Oscar co-producer on Aug. 4, resigned on Tuesday morning because of the furor over anti-gay slur and a subsequent, salacious discussion of his own sexual habits on Howard Stern’s radio program on Sirius XM Radio show.

Slate is not impressed with Rihanna's success.

Like She’s the Only Girl in the World: The improbable, unstoppable success of Rihanna.

Earlier this month, Rihanna’s song “We Found Love” became her 11th single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Barbadian singer has notched 20 top 10 pop hits in less time than any other musician, and among female solo artists, only Madonna and Mariah Carey claim more No. 1 pop singles, period; Rihanna is tied with Whitney Houston, who also had 11.* Some smashes surprise us, but “We Found Love” sounded like a No. 1 from the jump. A churning, pulsating homage to ’90s Europop in the style of Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone” or 2 Unlimited’s “Twilight Zone,” its synthesizer melody is big, brightly hued, as insistent as an alarm-clock beep and only slightly less repetitive; the beat is an unrelenting four-four pound; the vocals are airy and longing; the basic structure is a stack of frenzied crescendos with slightly less frenzied crescendos slipped in between.
The number of credited songwriters on previous Rihanna songs has cracked double digits but “We Found Love” was written and produced by just one person, the Scottish dance musician Calvin Harris. Harris, who has enjoyed solo success but nothing on this scale, contributes no vocals to “We Found Love,” but he’s credited nonetheless as a featured guest. This isn’t standard practice in pop music—particularly not with a relative unknown like Harris—but the top-line credit reflects the growing prominence, brand value, and leverage that DJs command in the dance-music-saturated pop present. It also reflects the experience of listening to the song: “We Found Love” lasts three minutes and 33 seconds, and for about one minute and 19 seconds of that time, Rihanna is fully silent. For 37 percent of the song, that is, she gets out of the way, ceding the floor to Harris’s ecstatic throb.

In a sense, getting out of the way is what Rihanna does best. There’s something paradoxical about her: She’s a pop star you almost forget is there. Her presence on songs is, at best, unobtrusive, pliant, less adaptable than compatible, like a chameleon who stays one more or less pleasing color. Extra-musically, she is blurry. Her look changes wholesale from album to album, in an undercooked way that suggests the hiring and firing of stylists rather than, say, some wry, Bowie-style persona shuffle: now she’s a stonewashed-jean Caribbean queen, now an anime fantasy, now a bondage badass, now a Candyland princess, now a ’90s London brat. There’s the nagging impression that her clothes are doing an untenable portion of her identity-building. Rihanna’s biggest headlines came not when she acted out but when she was acted against, viciously, by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown: Rated R, the noisy, brooding 2009 album she released after the attack, carried with it, for the first time in her career, a sense of drama and stakes.

Rihanna’s successes put her in rarefied company, but she is unlike her fellow chart goddesses, not in the thinness of her voice, exactly (Madonna is no great belter, either) but rather in the thinness of her persona. She is not wholly convincing. Pop stars’ songs, however gigantic, typically function as pieces of a bigger puzzle, chapters in an overarching, ever-expanding saga. Mariah, Whitney, Beyoncé, Gaga—these stars feel like stars. Rihanna feels like something else: a one hit-wonder several dozen times over.

Jersey Shore has been a pop culture phenomenon since its debut on MTV in December 2009. Oh Lola! Dakota Fanning's Advert for Marc Jacob's Perfume Banned in the UK

oh-lola-dakota-fanning

Bolded for tl;dr.

The Advertising Standards Authority has banned a perfume advert featuring teenage actress Dakota Fanning, saying it could be seen to sexualise a child.

The magazine ad for Oh Lola! perfume by fashion designer Marc Jacobs was likely to cause serious offence, it said.

It showed the actress wearing a thigh-length dress, with an oversized bottle of the scent resting between her legs. The watchdog said the 17-year-old appeared younger than 16. Perfume maker Coty UK disputed the ASA's view.

The watchdog said it had received four complaints and the advert must not appear again.

A month ago, the ASA took part in a Downing Street summit to discuss how children could be protected from unsuitable images.

In its ruling the ASA said: "We considered that the length of her dress, her leg and position of the perfume bottle drew attention to her sexuality."

"Because of that, along with her appearance, we considered the ad could be seen to sexualise a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible and was likely to cause serious offence."

Coty UK said it had not received any complaints about the advertisement featuring the Twilight actress which was published in "highly stylised" fashion publications including ES Magazine and the Sunday Times Style on 5 August 2011. It did not feel the styling suggested the US model was underage. It added it did not believe that readers of the magazines were likely to find the ad offensive because it was similar to many other "edgy" images which are featured.

It told the ASA the giant perfume bottle - shaped like a vase containing a flower in bloom - was "provoking but not indecent".

Getting the last laugh

Comedian Kathy Griffin likes to tell tales out of school — perhaps no more so than when she’s talking about what it means to be a high-level woman in the traditionally male-dominated field of comedy.

“Once I was in this meeting a few years ago with this guy, Ben Silverman,” says Griffin of the former NBC Entertainment chief. “And I was talking to him about going from my Bravo show to a more scripted show. And I was really complimenting him on ‘30 Rock,’ and I said, ‘What’s so great is it’s really proven that just like the shows I grew up with — “Phyllis” and “Mary Tyler Moore” and “Rhoda” and all these female-driven comedies — Tina [Fey] has kind of brought that back in a way that’s so wonderful and successful.’  ”

Griffin — who is one of three female headliners for the New York Comedy Festival, which marks the most women ever on the top billing of the lineup — gets right to the punch line about the closed-doors meeting. After she was told “30 Rock” didn’t make that much money, and after she countered that it had garnered so many Emmys, she heard a line she’ll never forget. “He said: ‘And — it’s really Alec [Baldwin]’s show,’  ” says Griffin, 51, laughing in disbelief. “It’s based on Tina Fey. It’s based on her life. She wrote it. It’s based on her own personal experience that no one ever had, which is to be the first female head writer on ‘Saturday Night Live,’ so I never forgot that phrase. ‘It’s really Alec’s show.’ So I was like, ‘Buh-bye, Ben. Thanks for your time. I’m going to go back to my little cable show and be really, really funny.’  ”

Jay Smooth interviews Drake about his racial indentity and working with Stevie Wonder

When I spoke with Drake last Friday, it turned out I was just missing the chance to fully discuss his album Take Care, which leaked over the weekend. But this left lots of time to dig into other topics, from his Canadian perspective on racial identity to his relationships with Stevie Wonder and A$AP Rocky.

You and I have similar backgrounds, a black dad and a white, Jewish mom. Do those issues of race and identity play out differently in Canada compared to the US?

Well, Canada's like a cultural melting pot, especially Toronto. America, I come here sometimes and I witness, like, real segregation. Like when you go to LA and it's like, "This area's Mexican, and this area's white." That's crazy to me because in Toronto we have cultural areas—"OK, this is Little India, this is Chinatown, this is where there the Greek people are"—but it's not segregated. It's not like you can't go there and participate in the culture. So it's a bit different. I think Canada's very accepting. But at the same time I get a lot of love everywhere in the world for just being diverse, instead of just being straight out [one thing]. I'm all mixed up and people embrace that.

When you identify yourself this way do you ever get questioned on it, like, "Why do you call yourself 'mixed'?" or, "What's wrong with just being black?"

I mean, I'm so light that people are like "you're white." That's what I get more than anything, people saying "you're white, you're not black." But I mean those are whatever, those are just silly jokes. That's like "the light-skinned complex." That's a very American thing as well, light skin and dark skin, like I don't even notice that. Girls will be like "oh I've seen you talk to dark-skinned girls, that's so good." And I'm like "why? I talk to any girl!" I talk to anybody, you know?

An interview with David Lynch

David Lynch is best known as the macabre surrealist behind Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, and the cult television series Twin Peaks. But the award-winning filmmaker has long spread his artistic talents across multiple forms, including painting, lithographs, and furniture design. He is also a "non-musician" who just unleashed two new projects: a dreamy pop album with Chrysta Bell entitled This Train, which he produced and co-wrote; and his first official solo album, Crazy Clown Time, which encompasses everything from off-kilter electro-pop to twangy, Duane Eddy–style rock. We spoke with Lynch ahead of today's release about his influences, his "magical" music-writing process, and fifties nostalgia.

Glenn Close, Elizabeth Olsen set for 'Therese Raquin'

As two leading contenders for this season’s Best Actress awards, Albert Nobbs star Glenn Close and Martha Marcy May Marlene breakout Elizabeth Olsen will definitely be seeing a lot of each other over the next few months. And after the awards season ends, the pair will go head-to-head for the period drama Therese Raquin. A source close to the production tells EW exclusively that Close and Olsen have both closed deals to costar in the film, based on the 19th century novel and play by Emile Zola. It’s set to shoot in the spring.

Described as a dark, erotic thriller, the film, set in Paris in 1867, follows young Therese (Olsen), who is forced by her aunt, Madame Raquin (Close), into a loveless marriage to her sick, spoiled first cousin. Therese soon becomes obsessed with her husband’s friend Laurent and is pulled into a devastating affair with him that unravels all of their lives. Close has been attached to the project for years; the role of Laurent has yet to be cast.

Therese Raquin will be directed by Charlie Stratton, who also wrote the screenplay adaptation. The film is being produced by Mickey Liddell (The Grey) and William Horberg (The Kite Runner).

Does Angelina Jolie Owe Bosnia More than "Blood and Honey"?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Angelina Jolie’s new film In the Land of Blood and Honey is set in Sarajevo, during the Bosnian War that raged between 1992 and 1995. After seeing only the trailer for the film, which will be Jolie’s directorial debut, many critics have already slated it as an Academy Award winner.

“The choice to make a film about this area and set in this time in history was also to remind people of what happened not so long ago and to give attention to the survivors of the war,” Jolie stated about the film, which she also wrote. “The film is specific to the Bosnian War, but it’s also universal. I wanted to tell a story of how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war”.

Pittsburgh rapper Mac Miller Scores #1 with 175-185k, Twilight, Now Bow

In the immortal words of Nikki Finke, “Toldja!”

That’s right, just like we said last week, Rostrum Records rapper Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park, distributed digitally by INgrooves and physically by Fontana, will debut at #1 smack dab in the middle of Q4, with estimates of between 175-185k, which might even be conservative.

This is a triumph of social networking and good, new-fashioned viral marketing, as Malcolm McCormick, the son of a Christian architect father and Jewish mother photographer, transforms his combined 2.7 million Twitter, Facebook and MySpace followers into an impressive debut.

This is Miller’s physical full-length debut after a series of well-received digital mixtapes, an EP, On and On and On Beyond, and a smash video in “Donald Trump.”

Those figures are based on one-day sales figures from music retailers, some of whom are even holding out at brick-and-mortar outlets, though it’s looking like digital might even surpass physical on this release.

Rose Huntington-Whiteley: Women Should Save $1/Week So They Can Buy $700 Louboutins

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley managed to win the hearts of many, many men when she took the reins from Megan Fox to star in the latest “Transformers” installment, but she has one little secret that helps her put some extra sexiness in her step.

Seven hundred dollar Christian Louboutin heels. “They make me feel like a woman. I feel they make you look very sexy, the cuts are beautiful, the lines, the colors the embellishments,” Huntington-Whiteley gushed to FOX411’s Pop Tarts column at the shoe designer’s book launch at Barney’s in Beverly Hills last week. “I think he managed to capture something so special for women, every girl should be lucky enough to have them.”

The lingerie and swimsuit model has reportedly been picked to replace Megan Fox in 'Transformers 3.'
Yet amid this cash-strapped economy, the British supermodel has some words of wisdom for women pining for a pair – which retail at around $700. “If you can save up for a pair put away a dollar a week,” she advised. “It’s worth it girls. It is really worth it!”

(At a dollar a week, that would take approximately 14 years, for those of you keeping score.)

Since getting a taste for rolling cameras, lights and action in Michael Bay’s hit blockbuster, Huntington-Whiteley has caught the acting bug big time, and has high hopes for more movies in the future.

“('Transformers') was a huge challenge for me and I think it was the right time in my life to be challenged, I had a lot of fun and learned a lot making it,” she said. “I would love to work with another great filmmaker again, and I think my dreams are the same as any new actress – to work with a great cast, and I would love to do something that’s a little different from my role in ‘Transformers’ – and something hopefully that will challenge me in a different way.”

Yet when it comes to her personal life, the rising star (and Jason Statham’s squeeze) refuses to complain about the increasing paparazzi and tabloid attention. “I am very lucky in my life so I don’t wish for anything I don’t have, and I actually manage to get around just fine. I’m just fine,” she added. “It’s not too much, I manage to avoid it when it’s necessary, but I’m very thankful for everything.”

Deidre Behar and Danielle Jones-Wesley contributed to this report.

Clumsy Kelly Osbourne suffers a black eye at “Sleep No More”

Clumsy Kelly Osbourne, who’s nursing a head injury, also recently suffered a black eye at acclaimed theater production “Sleep No More” -- and complained to producers about her ugly shiner.

Sources tell us Kelly, daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, attended “Sleep No More” -- the “Macbeth”-inspired British production on West 27th Street, where guests race through dark rooms wearing masks as actors play out scenes -- in September.

According to the sources, Osbourne complained she got a black eye falling over during the performance and showed off her shiner to producers.

“Kelly was knocked over by somebody in a mask during the show, and hit her face,” one source said. “She rushed to the bar area, where show staffers consoled her.

“She was visibly upset and said her face was black and blue, and she was in a lot of pain,” the source related.

Reps for “Sleep No More” and for Osbourne declined to comment.

Meanwhile, Osbourne went to the hospital in Miami after she suffered a head injury when a ballroom-style dance move went wrong Friday night at club Liv at the Fontainebleau Hotel.

One witness told Page Six: “Kelly was dancing with friends . . . flying in between her dance partner’s legs and being lifted and twirled around. Kelly went for a dip at the end of the song, and her male friend missed his step.” Kelly fell on her head and left the night spot 10 minutes later, reassuring her friend she was OK.

But hours later, she went to a hospital where she received stitches and was diagnosed with a concussion after fainting several times.

Kelly tweeted, “Long story short I cracked my head open then kept passing out I have the all clear my mum came 2 get me . . . I just want 2 thank all the incredible doctors and nurses @ Mercy hospital in Miami 4 taking such good care of me u guys really are amazing!”

Kris Jenner admits to affair

Kris Jenner says she regrets cheating on Kim Kardashian’s father, Robert Kardashian. The Kardashian matriarch expressed her regret after confessing that she had a “wild,” sex-fueled affair in her new book, "Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian."

"Robert had been the only man in my life since I was 18," Jenner writes in her book. "I don't know why I was having a mid-life crisis at 30, but I was. His name was Ryan, and he was a producer. We had wild sex everywhere, all the time."

Jenner further explained that she got caught red-handed with her secret lover at a restaurant after Kardashian had her followed. She says he filed for divorce soon after.

Jenner spoke to Jay Leno in more detail about her indiscretion on “The Tonight Show” last night.

"When you're very young you do a lot of stupid things. It's probably the biggest regret of my life that I ended up having an affair," she said. "[I was] probably just really naive and stupid and restless and didn't realize that marriage has it ups and downs."

After the divorce, Robert Kardashian represented OJ Simpson in his 1995 murder trial and died eight years later of cancer. Jenner went on to marry Olympic track and fielder Bruce Jenner after being set up on a blind date with him. The two recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.

"Someone once told me that it's like a roller-coaster, just ride it out," Jenner said to Leno. "But I wasn't really old enough to hear those words."

Emma Roberts: My Makeup Gets Confiscated by the TSA

Since she spends a lot of time flying between coasts to promote various projects, Emma Roberts keeps a big makeup bag on hand. But thanks to tight air security regulations, the actress has had to toss several of her favorite beauty products before takeoff in recent months.

“The amount of things that have been taken away from me on the plane because they’re liquids … it’s a lot,” Roberts told PEOPLE last week at a Johnson & Johnson event in New York City.

Since she prefers to keep her porcelain skin looking perfect, she gets around the rules with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. “Since they aren’t liquids, you can take them on the plane and just wipe your makeup off,” she said. “Even if I don’t wash my face — which is very rare — I always take off my makeup.”

When the Neutrogena girl is putting makeup on for a big night out, she keeps her face clean with a nude lip and winged eye. “It’s always fun and chic, and it pops your eye but it’s not over the top,” she explained. Her secret to perfectly pretty liner? Q-tips! “I was always so baffled at how you do a winged eye,” she shared. “But you just do it, and if it’s sloppy, dip a Q-tip in makeup remover and even it out.”

To really dramatize her look, the Celeste and Jesse Forever star adds some color to her lips, too. “If I go from a meeting to a dinner, I can just throw on a gloss and it looks like I’m ready,” she shared.

Roberts, who joined Neutrogena in 2009, said she loves working as the face of an “accessible” brand. “I wanted to be able to represent something that I use, that my mom uses, that my friends use and that I can encourage people to use and feel good about,” she said. “It just felt like a really good fit.”

Drinkify predicts what drink you should have while listening to your fave artist

Admit it, you've been looking for a way to spice up happy hour. Instead of finding a new, over-priced and crowded hot spot, keep things at home and let your music preferences drive your beverage choices. Drinkify, a new site developed during Boston's recent Music Hack Day, suggests the best drink pairing for your current musical mood.

Enter the musician or band blasting from the stereo and Drinkify provides an adult drink recipe that best matches the tunes, complete with garnish and how the drink should be served. According to Drinkify, Jay-Z is best with gin on the rocks, while Red Bull is required for Justin Bieber (he is underage, after all). Since the site plugs in to Last.fm's API, there is a nearly limitless database of musicians ready for their libation mate. The question of what to serve at this year's holiday party has now been answered, as long as the playlist is settled.

Ashley Madison Fat Ad Shames Women, Says Obese Model

Photobucket

An obese model lying seductively in a red bra and black lace panties has become the poster child for why a husband should cheat on his wife in ads slapped across the Internet this week.

"Does your wife scare you at night?" asks an ad for Ashley Madison, the dating site that promotes affairs outside marriage.

When the model in the photo saw how it was used, she said it scared and offended her, because the ad was suggesting that fat women make repulsive sexual partners. Identifying herself as "Jacqueline," she wrote a letter to the celebrity, sex and fashion website Jezebel, saying her image had been used without her authorization.

"I am mortified that my image and likeness would be used as advertisement for two things I am so vehemently against: namely cheating and, to an even greater extent, body shaming," Jacqueline wrote in a Nov. 7 guest column.

Her scantily clad, size 32 image adorns her erotic website, Juicy Jackie, which she says caters to "the tastes of those that love big women, their curves, rolls and all the plush softness that comes with being fat."

"I was under the impression at the time that people purchasing these photos from the photographer would be doing so for their own personal use," she wrote. "I had no idea that the photographer would endeavor to sell the photos to corporations and/or stock photo companies, who would then go on, repeatedly, to use them in rude and mocking ways."

We're All Living In A Sci-Fi Movie

Does anyone else have the impression that science fiction is becoming science fact faster than it used to? It certainly seems that way when every other day brings news of impossible discoveries and exciting new developments. Phones we take for granted pack in more computing power than the entire Apollo mission that landed men on the moon and, frankly, knock Star Trek’s tricorders in a cocked hat. But read on and discover a few more sci-fi concepts that are approaching reality.

Faster Than Light Travel

As seen in: Practically every sci-fi movie ever.

What’s The Science? Physicists like Einstein would have us believe that the speed of light is some sort of universal speed limit beyond which one cannot go. Why, the whole of modern sci-fi has had to get around this with the creative use of wormholes, space warping, hyperspace and occasionally "ludicrous speed". But soft! What faster-than-light from yonder CERN breaks? Why, tis a neutrino that appeared to travel a fraction of a second faster than it should have done. While the experiment is about to be repeated to verify those results, the first go-round suggested that there may be some wiggle room in that theory of special relativity after all, which is pretty darn exciting if you’re one of those boffin types. Read more here.

So how long until we have some practical results? Oh, forever: this is physics, after all, and there’s a hell of a long way from "this neutrino can travel faster than light" to "Welcome to Enterprise". But if those particles did indeed beat light, we’re going to see lots of academic papers reassessing the entire universe, and as those filter down to popular science publications they may inspire sci-fi writers and screenwriters to follow suit and try something new. At the very least, someone will surely dress a superhero in a suit made of these neutrinos (yes, we know that’s not possible, but we’re talking comics and movies) so he can do Super-feats of some sort. As and when these things are confirmed to exist, we’ll surely see someone ret-con The Flash and Supes to explain that they’ve been using these things all along.

Which films might this change? The Superman movies, any films involving extra-solar system travel (except a few like Silent Running, Alien and Avatar, which always honoured the light-speed barrier) and who knows what else? It’s a game-changer, people!

Sneak peek at tomorrow's Parks and Rec episode

"Parks and Recreation" is coming off one of the best episodes in the show's run to date, and one of the things that made it special was the way it finally addressed Leslie and Ben's feelings about what had seemed like the cleanest, most amicable break-up of all time.

The two are both trying to move on, but it's not going to be easy, given what kindred spirits they are, and given that they work in such close proximity to each other. They've mostly stayed out of each other's way professionally this season, but in this week's episode, called "The Treaty," Leslie will enlist Ben's help to run a model United Nations event at the local high school, and, well, watch the clip below to see what it's like when you put Amy Poehler and Adam Scott on camera together.

Album Preview: Rihanna’s Talk That Talk Is The Dirtiest Pop Record Since Madonna’s Erotica

Actually, scratch that. Rihanna‘s new record, Talk That Talk, is the dirtiest “pop” record we have ever heard. We listened to the entirety of the 11-song album, which will hit stores on Monday, November 21, earlier this afternoon here at our Times Square headquarters and can confirm that everyone in attendance left the room with flushed cheeks after experiencing extensive periods of blushing.

Now, this is not to say that Rihanna has gone out and recorded the female As Nasty As They Wanna Be; it’s not simply a sexually-explicit affair (although, at one point during The-Dream produced track “Birthday Cake,” she does proclaim “I wanna f*** you right now”). Rather, Talk That Talk continues the conversation that Rihanna began with her single “S&M” (off Loud) and, if you’ll pardon the Spinal Tap reference, turns it up to 11. Rihanna and her chief partner-in-crime, songwriter Esther Dean (who either wrote or co-wrote at least five songs on the LP), have put together a record that not only oozes sex, but also revolves almost exclusively around it.

Take the album’s fifth track, “Cockiness,” for example. The Bangladesh-produced banger, which sounds like a vintage-era Neptunes jam, begins with Rihanna telling her lover that “I want you to be my sex slave” and contains the refrain “I love it when you eat it.” It doesn’t stop there; in perhaps the album’s most memorable line, Rihanna demands her subject to “Suck my cockiness / Lick my persuasion.” This line, which got all of the attendees in the room we were in to nervously chuckle, is the kind of line that would’ve got Rihanna called in front of Congress if Tipper Gore were still running the PMRC, and the kind of song that would make even Prince‘s famed protagonist “Darling Nikki” squeal.

Thirteen-year-old Rachel's adoptive mother, Barbara, told the Post this week: "She was born a crack baby and actually lived in a crack house and suffered a lot of abuse." Thankfully, Rachel was taken in as a foster child when she was 6 months old by the Crows, who legally adopted her one year later and raised her to be the irrepressible bundle of sunshine we see on TV today. "She is totally unaffected by [her past]," Barbara, a former hospital counselor, took told the Post. "She never looks at [her past] in a sad way. Joe Paterno fired as Penn State head coach

Both football coach Joe Paterno and president Graham Spanier are out at Penn State in the wake of a disturbing child sex abuse scandal involving former assistant coach.

Paterno said in a statement Wednesday that he would retire after the season, but the university's board of trustees met Wednesday night and decided Paterno would not be allowed to continue as coach. Assistant coach Tom Bradley has been named interim coach.

Spanier chose to resign Wednesday and will be replaced temporarily by provost Rodney Erickson.

Paterno has been besieged by criticism since Jerry Sandusky, his former defensive coordinator, was charged over the weekend with 40 criminal counts of molesting eight young boys between 1994 and 2009 through his charitable foundation for at-risk youths, The Second Mile. Sandusky is free on bail and has a Dec. 7 court hearing.

I am disappointed with the Board of Trustees' decision, but I have to accept it.

A tragedy occurred, and we all have to have patience to let the legal process proceed. I appreciate the outpouring of support but want to emphasize that everyone should remain calm and please respect the university, its property and all that we value.

I have been incredibly blessed to spend my entire career working with people I love. I am grateful beyond words to all of the coaches, players and staff who have been a part of this program. And to all of our fans and supporters, my family and I will be forever in your debt.

Nicola Roberts accuses Madonna of being a copycat

Nicola Roberts has lashed out at Madonna accusing the Queen of all that is Pop of copying her after listening to her new leaked single Give Me All Your Love.

The former X Factor judge is believed to have been referring to Madonna's new song Give Me All Your Love which many music fans claim has been ripped off from Roberts' debut song Beat Of My Drum. Cheryl Cole posted a message on her Girls Aloud bandmate's Twitter page saying: 'Imitation is the biggest form of flattery!'

Nicola seemed unimpressed replying: 'Copy-catting has never flattered me..'

Both songs feature cheerleader-style choruses with Madge's track, which is produced by William Orbit, featuring the lyrics: 'L-U-V Madonna'. While on Roberts' song, which peaked at 27 when it was released earlier this year, the chorus goes: 'L.O.V.E/ Dance to the beat of my drum/ Dance to the beat of my drum.'

On Twitter fans rushed to compare the songs with @zappomatic saying: 'I like the new Madonna song but a bit of it sounds rather borrowed from Nicola Roberts.' @Peet_tweets tweeted: 'The new Madonna single sounds like its been lifted straight off Nicola Roberts album!' @Charismagic posted: 'New Madonna song kinda sounds like old Nicola Roberts / Gwen Stefani song. "Dance to the beat of my Hollaback Girl!"

But others rubbished the accusations with @TheAdzFactor saying: 'I'm almost 100% sure that Madonna wouldn't look to Nicola Roberts for inspiration! She wants a hit, not a flop!'

Give Me All Your Love is reportedly the lead single from Madonna's forthcoming album and is due out on March 5, 2012. A superbowl performance with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. is scheduled on February 5th, 2012. [SOURCE]

Mariah Covers US Weekly

Six months after welcoming twins Moroccan and Monroe, Mariah Carey has lost 30 pounds -- and shows off her toned legs and flat stomach in size-6 short-shorts on the stunning new cover of Us Weekly, out now.

"I gained an enormous amount of weight," the Grammy-winner superstar tells Us of welcoming her son and daughter April 30 with hubby Nick Cannon.
How'd she slim down? Beginning in July, Carey buckled down with a nutritionist and a workout plan from Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig), keeping to a 1,500-calorie-a-day menu and thrice-weekly workouts. "I feel incredible," the "Fly Like a Bird" singer tells Us, three months after her body transformation began. She and Cannon, 31, famously struggled to conceive their twins (born via C-section at 35 weeks) after a heartbreaking miscarriage.

Queen Mariah throws her majestic shade at the Kardashian sham wedding

Mariah Carey’s media blitz continued today when she hosted a special ‘Jenny Craig Live’ with Gayle King. The icon, who has been named as the new spokesperson of the Jenny Craig brand, spoke about a range of issues including her dramatic weight loss, her pregnancy and much more.

Of course, in true diva fashion, Carey couldn’t resist making snide remarks regarding a certain other star who recently got divorced after less than four months of marriage. Watch the full interview below (starting at 23:56):

Video streaming by Ustream

As usual, Carey delivered another hilarious interview. Hopefully, she will start promoting some new music in the near future because she is long overdue for a new studio album. Still, Carey’s comments at 41:30 which were she ironically made less than a week since Kim Kardashian announced her divorce…

Chromeo performing with Solange Knowles on Fallon

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After completely falling in love with their video where several women spontaneously get impregnated by the cheesy, loveable ’80s sounds of the Montreal natives Chromeo, we had to stop everything to the duo drop in on the popular Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show to perform “When The Night Falls” from their album Business Casual.

Joined by the forever beautiful Solange Knowles they deliver a performance that feels like the audio version of Deloreon and fresh pair of Nike Air Mags (Back To The Future 2 reference). Love it.

Firth Stans Are Legit Crazy; Pope Catholic, Bear Shits in Woods

The News & Observer caption reads: "Emily Blunt and Colin Firth share a laugh during a break in filming the upcoming movie "Arthur Newman, Golf Pro" at Nash Square on McDowell." Honestly, it looks like Emily Blunt overheard the Firth stans being interviewed and is relaying that information to him. Because he looks concerned for his safety.

Colin Firth and two actress nobody actually cares about filmed some scenes in Raleigh, North Carolina today. Please enjoy some photos and also the ramblings of a certified crazy person.

Raleigh police blocked streets and kept crowds at bay today [thank god for that, lbr] as actors Colin Firth, Emily Blunt and Anne Heche made movie magic in downtown Raleigh.

[blah blah blah, boring shit about a local hotdog stand guy participating in movie magic, no1curr, blah blah blah]

“Arthur Newman, Golf Pro,” directed by Dante Ariola, is described as a dark comedy about a man who is unhappy with his life and despised by his family. So he fakes his death and assumes a new identity in a new town. Blunt’s character is also running from her past, and the two of them begin breaking into empty homes pretending to be the absent owners.

Firth fans far outnumbered fans Blunt and Heche fans throughout the day. [You don't say.]

Connie Crumpler and Bethany Schuelke both took half a vacation day from their jobs at Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company in Cary to stake out a spot near the filming. [I hope their boss sees this, and I hope they get fired.] Both are big fans of Firth’s work as Mr. Darcy in the 1995 BBC miniseries “Pride and Prejudice,” which has a cult-like following.

Tricia Keipper of Wake Forest is also a dedicated Darcy fan. “I have him photoshopped into my wedding pictures,” she said, producing a photo of her and her husband with Firth as Mr. Darcy in the middle. [Well, at least she didn't superimpose Firth's face over her husband's, right??? And I want to know if this a wallet-sized photo and if she carries it with her always. I bet she does.]

“My husband thinks I’m crazy,” she said. [He's not the only one.]

“Arthur Newman, Golf Pro” will film scenes at the N.C. School of Science and Math in Durham on Thursday. Other North Carolina movie locations include Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Currie, Wallace, Fairmont, Lumberton and Graham. [I have class tomorrow. Someone else, put on ur stalking shoes.]

Ashton Kutcher voices support for Joe Paterno, then apologizes and retracks his statements

Ashton Kutcher was forced into an embarrassing climbdown after tweeting that the sacking of Joe Paterno showed 'no class' and was an 'insult' to his legacy. At about 12.30AM this morning, he wrote on his official account: 'How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye [the University of Iowa football team] fan I find it in poor taste.'

His comment came after the news Paterno, Penn State head coach for 46 years, had been fired for allegedly covering up sexual abuse by the school's former football defense coordinator Jerry Sandusky. The college's Board of Trustees also forced the resignation of president Graham Spanier, who was also said to be implicated in covering up the scandal.

Many tweeters pointed out that Kutcher, together with his wife Demi Moore, founded the the DNA Foundation, which specifically aims to 'end child sex slavery'. Justin Stangel wrote: 'Tell me if I’m right - You're against child trafficking unless it's with college football staff.'

Billyontheradio added: 'Wait, didnt u cheat on your wife on your ANNIVERSARY!? Yeah, ur an expert on CLASS!' Miles Kahn made reference to his comedic predecessor: 'So that's how you make Sheen look good', with Nick Youssef mocking: 'Being the lead on 2 1/2 Men DOES make you crazy!'

Many simply labelled Kutcher an idiot for his view. After the barrage of complaints, Kutcher deleted the tweet and recanted his stance. 'This is an insane story, I just heard paterno was fired, getting the rest of the story now... Wow,' he wrote. He added: 'Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn't have full story. #admitwhenYoumakemistakes

Kutcher added: 'As an advocate in the fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful for all involved in the Penn St. case. 'As of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to properly manage this feed. I feel awful about this error. Won't happen again.'

Woody Harrelson, Tom Waits and Olga Kurylenko join "Seven Psychopaths"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

At this point, it’s going to be very tough for the cast of In Bruges director Martin McDonagh’s Seven Psychopaths to get any better. He’s already got Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken lined up, and now Woody Harrelson, Tom Waits, and Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) have joined the line-up. Farrell stars as a screenwriter struggling with his latest script, titled Seven Psychopaths, who gets roped into a dog-napping job by his friends (Rockwell and Walken). Things take a turn when the beloved Shih Tzu of a psychopathic gangster goes missing, and the trio find themselves on the run.

Anthony Bourdain Cooks the Books

Anthony Bourdain knows how he can come off. The chef-turned-TV personality has written that it would be “entirely fair and appropriate” were he described as “a loud, egotistical, one-note asshole who’s been cruising on the reputation of one obnoxious, over-testosteroned book for way too long and who should just shut the fuck up.” But it takes only one meeting with Mr. Bourdain—the man who likes to pepper his prose with words like “fucktard” and who made “bad boy chef” a resplendent cliché—to reveal that he is a perfect gentleman.

Aw. Someone needs a hug.

In an emotional exclusive interview with The Insider (that has been airing in parts throughout this week), Mariah Yeater continues to insist that 17-year-old Justin Bieber is the father of her child.

When asked by Kevin Frazier as to why she’s just coming forward seeing as the child is already a few months old, a tearful Mariah, 20, responded:

“I still am.. I’m scared. I was very hesitant. This is a very serious matter [and] it had to be brought to his attention. To everyone’s.”

It was reported last week that Mariah’s ex has come out saying she also filed a paternity suit against him over this child. When asked to respond to this, Mariah first said “no comment,” but then took a long pause seeming to get flustered.

“Okay,” she said simply before putting her head in her hands. To prove that she is telling the truth, Mariah has said she is more than willing to take a polygraph test. “I have nothing to hide.”

Know Your Scumbags: Hollywood Edition!

There are a lot of sexist, racist, violent assholes in Hollywood. However, most of these actors rarely, if ever, get shit for it. Most of the time people are never even aware of their asshattery, and this is why I've made this post! I've put together a list of actors who have been charged with doing or saying awful things (note that some are based on hearsay but are included because there is enough reason to believe they might be true).

Please add anyone you think I've missed in the comments! I might be able to edit them into the post. Also feel free to rip on anyone who isn't Hollywood such as musicians *cough*Chris Brown*cough* or athletes *cough*Ben Roethlisberger*cough*, I've just decided to focus on Hollywood to keep the list from growing out of control.

So come on in and see if your faves are absolute fuckers or not!

I hope you find this post informative! I know some of you think I don't take this seriously because of my Fassy posts but I do. I'm making this post because in any post (whether it be about Fassy or others with shady pasts) there are always people surprised by the news, so I thought this could be like a 'master post' of Hollywood's douchebags.
