Brett Ratner: Douche-bag Extraordinaire

Brett Ratner apologizes for lying about Olivia Munn, use of gay slur

The last few days have not been the best for director Brett Ratner. Today, while doing a phone interview on The Howard Stern Show, the Tower Heist helmer said he lied about having sex with actress Olivia Munn when he appeared on G4′s Attack of the Show last week. Ratner does call Munn “a friend,” and says the geek cult icon told him he is not the unnamed director she’s refers to in her book as having “undersized manhood.” Ratner continued: “She’s actually talented. The problem is I made her look like she’s a whore.” You can listen to the whole, NSFW Howard Stern interview about Munn here. (Speaking of apologies: EW incorrectly stated in an earlier post that Munn says she dated the unnamed director. We regret the error.)

Ratner also apologized today for using a gay slur during a Q&A after a Friday-night screening of his new action-comedy Tower Heist. According to various reports, when asked by a moderator about whether he rehearsed with his cast before shooting a scene, Ratner dismissively said, “Rehearsal is for fags.” Facing criticism for the remark, Ratner released a statement, saying, “I apologize for any offense my remarks caused. It was a dumb way of expressing myself. Everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have a prejudiced bone in my body. But as a storyteller I should have been much more thoughtful about the power of language and my choice of words.”

In response to Ratner’s remarks, GLAAD issued a statement saying, “This apology is a good start, but we’re working with Ratner’s people for more action, to clearly send a message to Hollywood that the anti-gay slurs used by bullies and bigots have no place in the world of entertainment, or anywhere else.”

The incidents aren’t just throwing a wrench in the publicity campaign for Tower Heist. Ratner has been hired to produce this year’s Academy Awards telecast along with veteran TV producer Don Mischer, and, since the Oscars are supposed to represent the film industry’s highest values and achievements (and since the star who’s been hired to host the show, Eddie Murphy, has his own history of drawing fire for using homophobic slurs), his remarks are sure to draw extra scrutiny.

I get that Olivia Munn's persona/career is a bit of joke but Brett...

K.D. Lang: "Justin Bieber is hot as shit because he looks like a lesbian"

If K.D. Lang says it, you know it's gotta be true.

On the Australian TV show Rove LA, the Canadian crooner participated in a segment called “Random Question Hat”, alongside guests LL Cool J and Dexter’s Michael C. Hall. For those of you who can’t guess what that involves from the name alone (for whatever reason that may be), guests pull a random question out of a bag.

While LL Cool J was asked to answer 'what is Satan’s last name?' and Hall was asked if he has ever peed in the shower, lang pulled out a question about whether she thought fellow Canuck singer Justin Bieber was hot or not.

lang noted that Bieber looks like a lesbian. As have many others, including the website Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber.

Guess how she rated Bieber? You have to see it to beliebe it.

Any other lesbians out there who think Bieber is hot?

Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno under scrutiny

Legendary Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno is under pressure to resign after two of his top officials were charged with covering up allegations of an explosive child-sex abuse scandal related to former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley and vice president for finance and business Gary Schultz stepped down last night after an emergency meeting of the university's Board of Trustees - and now Mr Paterno is facing calls to follow.
Curley requested to be placed on administrative leave so he could devote the time needed to defend himself against perjury and other charges, university President Graham Spanier said.
Schultz will step down and go back into retirement, Spanier said. He declined to comment to reporters after the meeting.

Princess Cheryl back on top, covers InStyle December 2011

Cheryl opens up about work, health, family, friends and eating "everything" in her first interview since the US X Factor axe.

It's been a very eventful year, what with contracting malaria and losing her US presenting job, but Cole has finally spoken up for the first time.

In an interview with the December issue of InStyle magazine, out on on Thursday, the 28 year old Geordie talks work, friends, dieting, happiness and being hospitalised with the virus she contracted on holiday in Tanzania.

"Everything changed after that. It was a big change for me" says Cheryl about the illness that almost killed her last year.
"I had to take good care of myself and I was told to stop exercising and to gain weight to get well. I just ate everything" she says refreshingly, adding that this is why she looked a little rounder at the US X Factor photocall, before she was sacked.

Vanity Fair Portrait: Aaron Sorkin on David Fincher, photographs by Annie Leibovitz

When The Social Network put David Fincher within a whisker of a best-director Oscar, his modest (and unused) acceptance speech said it all. Aaron Sorkin, who won for the screenplay, knows Fincher’s reputation, the more complicated reality behind it, and the extraordinary vision the director brings to his next film, out this month: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Immortals premiere

Gearing up for their film’s theatrical debut, the stars of “Immortals” were in attendance at the Los Angeles premiere held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Monday night (November 7).

Henry Cavill, Freida Pinto, Isabel Lucas, Kellan Lutz, Michelle Rourke, Luke Evans, Joseph Morgan and Daniel Sharman were all on-hand to pose for pictures on the red carpet and talk to press ahead of the movie’s first screening.

Also in attendance for the "Immortals" screening were ladies such as Audrina Patridge, Kristin Cavallari, Maria Menounos and Estella Warren, as well as 50 Cent and Kellan's "Twilight" co-star Boo Boo Stewart and his sister Fivel.

With the film hitting theaters this Friday (November 11), the story revolves around Theseua (played by Cavill), a mortal who teams up with the Greek gods in order to take down the power-hungry King Hyperion (played by Rourke).

The action/drama/fantasy was directed by Tarsem Singh, who is also at the helm of Lily Collins and Julia Roberts' Snow White film "Mirror Mirror".

The mystery guest on Rihanna’s new album has been unveiled. Jay-Z is re-teaming with his protégé for a collaboration on her new album Talk That Talk.

Producer Stargate revealed to Norwegian website that Jay-Z appears on the title track to Rihanna’s sixth album.
“This is the first time we do a song with Jay-Z and Rihanna together. Actually it’s the first time Jay does anything on our beats,” said Tor Erik Hermansen, one half of the hitmaking duo. “It was about time.”

Clive Owen To Star In Action Film 'Recall'

Though it hasn't worked tremendously well as of yet, Clive Owen is sticking with the plan and still doing his best to become an action star. Following the disappointing Killer Elite, which co-starred Jason Statham and failed to win over neither critics nor fans, the British actor is now set to star in Recall, according to Variety.

Written by Paul Schrader, who is best known for his scripts for Martin Scorsese like Taxi DriverRaging Bull and The Last Temptation of Christ, the project will star Owen as an NSA agent who attempts to figure out what went wrong during a failed hostage rescue mission. As he begins to "recall" (get it?) what happened, he begins to figure out that he can't trust his fellow soldiers or himself. The film is being produced by Moonstone Entertainment, which managed to sell the picture in multiple markets during last week's American Film Market (though North America isn't on that list just yet). Harold Becker, who hasn't directed a movie since 2001'sDomestic Disturbance will helm the film. Becker's other titles include Mercury RisingMalice, and Sea of Love. The plan is to start production in March of next year and will shoot in locations including Washington D.C. and Bulgaria.

Clive Owen hasn't been making the greatest movies as of late, but I do find it incredibly hard to give up on him. All he really needs to boost his career is to start reading better scripts, and you can do a hell of a lot worse than Paul Schrader.

Lindsay will channel Marilyn in her Playboy spread, world reels in shock over such creativity

SuniLindsay Lohan will bare more than her body in Playboy.

Reps for the magazine and the troubled actress, 25, who served a four-hour jail sentence over the weekend, officially confirmed Monday that she'll be featured in both pictures and words in the January/February issue.

"The pictorial is absolutely fantastic and very tasteful," her rep says, "and will be accompanied by an interview that will let readers see another side of Lindsay."

Calling Lohan's bare photos "very classy," the magazine's founder Hugh Hefner tells The Insider that the final product is a "classic tribute inspired by the original Tom Kelly nude pictorial of Marilyn Monroe."

This is not the first time Lohan has channeled Monroe. In 2008, she posed as the iconic sex symbol for New York magazine, telling the publication she was "comfortable" being photographed in the buff.

The Playboy issue hits newsstands in late December.

Tarsem Singh talks "Immortals," disses "Clash of the Titans"

Director Tarsem Singh is known for his bold, painterly visuals in films like 'The Cell,' 'The Fall' and portions of his new film, 'Immortals,' are indeed gorgeous. As he told Moviefone in discussing his Snow White project (now called 'Mirror, Mirror'), "My stuff tends to be polarizing. When it's for children, it's like, sickeningly kiddie, and when it's the other way, it's sickeningly graphic." 'Immortals' definitely falls into the second category. How violent is it? The sword-and-slice epics '300' and 'Gladiator' definitely pale in comparison, especially since these flying body parts are in 3D. Moviefone sat down with Tarsem for a somewhat contentious interview in which he shared his contempt for '300' and 'Clash of the Titans,' and his belief that movie violence needs to show "the entrails on the ground."

Collapse )

I've already seen Immortals, and yeah, it's pretty violent, although it's so stylized that you can't really take it seriously as you would, like, a war film. (There's a slow-mo head-smashing scene that puts Drive to shame. My audience burst into applause.) It's definitely better/smarter than 300 and Clash of the Titans, but...not THAT much better, let's be real.

The Pitbull vs. Lindsay Lohan

Pitbull's legal war with Lindsay Lohan is getting straight up NASTY -- 'cause now, the rapper's filed new legal docs calling out LiLo for being a liar with a rap sheet longer than her movie credits.

Pit just filed a response to Lindsay's "Give Me Everything" lawsuit -- in which she claims the hip hop star owes her money for using her name in the song ... when he rapped, "I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan."

Lohan filed the original suit in NY State Court, stating she was a resident of Nassau County -- but Pit is calling B.S., claiming she's been living in California since 2004 ... and "given her frequent legal troubles, Ms. Lohan possesses irrevocable ties to California that are likely to keep her there for the foreseeable future."

Then, Pit spells out why she's full of crap ... noting every, single one of her legal problems in California ... including her multiple stints in the slammer ... the house arrest ... her problems at the Downtown Women's Center ... and all of the community service she's required to complete in the Golden State in the near future.

Pit concludes, "Thus, in light of Ms. Lohan's continuing obligations to the State of California, as well as the foregoing facts, Ms. Lohan is a citizen of California, not New York."

Pit wants the case transferred out of NY State court and into federal court -- where he thinks he'll have a better shot of taking Lohan down.

The drama continues ...

Frankie Cocozza has been kicked off The X Factor

Although it's yet to be officially confirmed, there are reports circulating that Frankie Cocozza has been kicked off The X Factor for breaking a serious rule. Although we're not sure why he's been axed, it's being reported that he's already moved out of the house.

A source apparently told The Sun: "Frankie is devastated but he has broken a golden rule so producers had no option but to axe him.

"He had an extra boost from being kept in at the weekend when he thought he was going to go.

"But now his dream is officially over and he only has himself to blame."

We're hoping for an X Factor statement to follow shortly. How very dramatic - this is exactly what The X Factor needs.

PTC comes out against 'Glee' teen sex

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A parents group has come out swinging against teen sex on tonight’s Glee.

The conservative watchdogs at the Parents Television Council slammed the show for the episode in which two young couples — one straight, one gay — have sex for the first time. The organization says its objection has nothing to do with the gender of the characters, just their ages.

“The fact that Glee intends to not only broadcast, but celebrate children having sex is reprehensible,” said PTC president Tim Winter. “The gender of the high school characters involved is irrelevant. Teen sex is now more prevalent on TV than adult sex and Glee is only playing into that trend. Research proves that television is a teen sexual super peer that can, and likely will, influence a teen’s decision to become sexually active. Fox knows the show inherently attracts kids; celebrating teen sex constitutes gross recklessness.”

Whitney Houston Talks 'Sparkle'

Though it's been a long ride, with ups and downs, "The Queen of the Night" is back on the big screen.

Whitney Houston is starring alongside Jordin Sparks and Mike Epps in "Sparkle," the remake of the 70s music-themed drama.

Originally, "Sparkle" was based on the story of The Supremes, which tells the story of three sisters' rise to the top from their humble beginnings at a Harlem church choir.

"American Idol" winner, Sparks, plays the lead in the film, with Houston as her discouraging mother. This is the first movie the Houston has starred in since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."

Here she sits down with ET to talk about her role, her reentry to film and her relationship with Sparks.

  • roxas39 Reached the 60 Billion Scrobble Landmark with Lady Gaga

Image and video hosting by TinyPic has reached the landmark of 60 billion scrobbles last week, less than ten years after its launch, the company announced today. In other words,’s users have now listened to 60 billion music tracks on the platform.

According to, the 60 billionth song to be scrobbled on the music discovery website was Lady Gaga’s ‘Judas’. She’s the latest artist to take a place in’s hall of fame, joining Bob Dylan whose 1963 song ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ marked’s 50 billionth scrobble (see our previous story 50 billion scrobbles and the return of the mix tape.)

We had also reported on the 40 billionth scrobble last year. Going back further in time, James Blunt was responsible for the 10 billionth scrobble with ’1973′ in 2007 – around the time CBS acquired – while Linkin’ Park took the billionth scrobble in 2005 with ‘Pushing Me Away’.

Looking at this data also gives a good indication of the site’s accelerated growth over the last years; it took much less time for the site to host its latest 10 billion scrobbles than for its first single billion.

According to’s VP of Product and Marketing Matthew Hawn, “reaching this figure is testament to the passion and enthusiasm demonstrated by ['s] users.” May it also be the confirmation that paywalls aren’t always a bullet in the foot?

X Factor's #1 Reject Blames Himself for The Risk Being Eliminated

X Factor 2011: Ashford Campbell thinks he jinxed The RIsk

Poor Ashford Campbell - he's the only X Factor contestant to have been voted off the show TWICE - first in Nu Vibe and then weeks later as part of The Risk.
And Ashford Campbell thinks he jinxed The Risk - who were the shock victims of the public vote-off on Sunday's X Factor.

Ashford only joined the band two weeks ago, after Ashley Baptiste quit, and after being part of another group that was voted off, Ashford explained revealed it was a painful experience.

He said: "I think mentally I was more prepared for it this time, but it still hurts the same - if not more so - to have been given a second chance and then have to leave again.

"I think I must have jinxed the group or something."

He might have point!

The Risk were favourites to WIN at one point, but clearly something went wrong.

Still, with Tulisa on their side, there is still hope for the band - Ashford included!

I really hope that the producers bring back The Risk now that the cokehead is gone cuz they are amazing and i wasn't ready to let go of my 2nd favorite scotsman Andy
or how about they brink back The Risk 3.0 this time with 2 sure they'd win that way

Which hits could hustle a Grammy for Best Dance Recording?

As dance music experiences a radio renaissance, the Grammy race for Best Dance Recording has never been more competitive. Former nominees and newcomers will all try to groove their way into one of the category's five available slots.

However, three past champs are missing from the race this year. Lady Gaga won the award in 2010 for "Poker Face" and has been nominated three years running. Yet, she submitted her works in the pop field. Britney Spears ("Toxic," 2005) and Rihanna ("Only Girl in the World," 2010) also won't contend in the dance field.

The frontrunner in this pared down race is Swedish artist Robyn, who reaped her first Dance Recording nomination last year for "Dancing on My Own." Her chart-topping dance hit "Call Your Girlfriend" should easily get her nominated again and is a serious threat to win.

Two years ago, David Guetta was nominated for his collaboration with Kelly Rowland on "When Love Takes Over." Though he had teamings this year with superstars Usher ("Without You") and Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida ("Where Them Girls At"), he submitted "Sunshine" which paired him with producer Avicii. The tune is from his latest album "Nothing But the Beat."

LMFAO could score their first Dance Recording nod. They entered their smash hit "Party Rock Anthem" in the pop category, but they may get nominated here for "Champagne Showers" with Natalia Kills.

Duck Sauce's "Barbra Streisand" had a music video full of celebrity cameos. The catchy, repetitive tune was used on television's "Glee" and should be considered a safe bet for a nomination.

"Hello" by Martin Sloveig and Dragonette climbed into the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the dance chart. The slow-burning track is definitely in the running.

Other hits waiting in the wings are "Mr. Saxobeat" by Alexandra Stan and "Save the World" by Swedish House Mafia.

The songs that will foot it into Best Dance Recording will be unveiled with the other Grammy nominees on Nov. 30.

What song do you think should take Best Dance Recording ONTD? "Mr. Saxobeat" gets my vote.

Ryan Trollphy on Glee's big sex episode (and the return of Karofsky)

Last winter on the set of their massive post-Super Bowl episode, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy told EW that he wanted the gay teenage relationship between Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) to be just as complicated as any of the show’s heterosexual romances. Now he’s making good on his word: Tonight’s episode of the Fox hit, “The First Time,” finds not only Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) having sex with each other for the first time, but — in a groundbreaking move for an 8 p.m. series — McKinley High’s gay couple doing the same. Razzie founder John Wilson dishes this year's contenders

Following the launch of our Razzie prediction center, the awards' founder John Wilson sat down with us to dish this year's contenders. Among the Worst Picture competitors we discussed were "Breaking Dawn: Part 1," "Transformers Dark of the Moon," "Jack and Jill" and "Bucky Larson."

Back in 1980, John was inspired to create the Razzies -- short for the Golden Raspberry Awards -- following a double feature of the Village People biopic "Can't Stop the Music" and the Olivia Newton-John musical "Xanadu." He has guided Razzie voters over the last thirty years in "honoring" the worst in cinema. The group's notorious winners for Worst Picture include "Showgirls" (1995), "Battlefield Earth" (2000), and "Gigli" (2003).

Along with Worst Picture, the Razzies also recognize the worst in acting, writing, and directing. Several former Razzie "winners" could contend again this year, including "Jack and Jill" star Adam Sandler. He took Worst Actor in 1999 for "Big Daddy" and could be nominated for both Worst Actor and Actress in dual roles as a feuding brother and sister. Three-time Razzie nominee Nicolas Cage could finally prevail for the triple bill "Season of the Witch," "Drive Angry," and "Trespass."

Blind Items

1. Which B list actress, who made it big in a film based on a book, is having trouble with her teenaged daughter? She and her daughter have been clashing over the daughter’s messy habits, particularly her messy room. The actress has threatened to throw away all of her daughter’s stuff if she didn’t keep the room clean. As our B-lister was following through with the threat, she found tin foil and straws with white powder in her daughter’s room. She is devastated. (Buzz Foto)
My Guess: Diane Lane? This sucks though, must feel like shit to discover that about your child

2. There’s no denying that this actor is very talented. However, in this town, talent will only take you so far. There’s a good reason that our actor’s been getting a lot more face time and screen time and attention this season than the rest of his castmates. It’s because our actor hit the old casting couch with the show’s producer. Even though the overt favoritism is causing dissension among the ranks, the producer just can’t stop giving his honey more screen time and parading him around at various industry events like a prized poodle. Most people outside the show haven’t made the personal connection between the actor and the producer yet. Perhaps it’s because there is such a significant age difference between the two. Or, perhaps it’s because the actor has explicitly stated in interviews that he is straight. Or, perhaps it’s because the producer is supposed to be getting married. (Blind Gossip)
My Guess: newly engaged Ryan Murphy with Darren Criss. The blind doesn't say the producer is engaged to a WOMAN....

3. This actor is a solid B list and has been for years. Sometimes he headlines a movie, but for the most part, he is the second lead. Solid actor and everyone knows who he is. He also has a very attractive daughter. Very much so. The daughter has a bit of a drinking problem and when she drinks she shares a story of what happened to her when she was 15 about to turn 16 and how she was hit on and eventually had sex with this A list movie actor who is a nominee/winner of some of the biggest awards in acting. A friend of her father’s, they had a brief fling and supposedly this brief fling also broke up the A list actor’s long time relationship. His significant other could handle the cheating, just not with a 16 year old. (CDAN)
My Guess: Kevin Bacon, Daughter Sosie & Tim Robbins. Tim bb u better watch urself, chris hansens gonna get u gurl.

4. This A list R&B/Pop singer is married. She believes in her vows and has been said here several times, her husband who is also a musician does not. She thinks he has finally straightened out. Well, he probably will be after he takes care of paying off his latest fling. Apparently she managed to get photos of the musician in some very compromising positions. (CDAN)
My Guess: either Alicia Keys or Beyonce

5. His wife is pregnant and he makes sure to tell everyone on the internet how happy he is about it. Ironically, it’s also on the internet where he met his gay lover that his wife thinks is just a really, really good buddy. (Buzz Foto)
My Guess: Jared Padalecki

Candice Swanepoel > Selena Gomez

Nice to see that even lingerie models can have a sense of humor (Candice is a Victoria's Secret Angel for all you newbs). From Stylist:

While Victoria's Secret may be a place to make best friends forever, it is not necessarily a place to find a date. [Candice] Swanepoel says, "I think it's harder to date as an angel, when people meet you it's hard to look past our job, what we look like. They are always trying to impress you, you know, like 'come to my mansion blah blah blah.""

Not that she's on the market, Swanepoel has been with her boyfriend for the last six years, since she was only 17-years-old. Although she feels like she is "married already," that doesn't mean she doesn't have crushes: "I had a little Bieber fever but he got too old," she laughs over dinner.

Spinal Tap Fans Start Movement to Make 11/11/11 "Nigel Tufnel Day" Worldwide

If you're even remotely familiar with the film This is Spinal Tap, then surely you're conversant about this little legendary piece of dialogue:

Nigel Tufnel: The numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board, eleven, eleven, eleven and...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is it any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten.

But did you know that last November, November 11 to be precise (or 11/11/10), a group of Spinal Tap aficionados started a year-long campaign to make Eleven-Eleven-Eleven "Nigel Tufnel Day" world wide?:

There have been websites and petitions going around on Facebook and other social networks to immortalize the Christopher Guest character (visually inspired by Jeff Beck and behaviorally inspired by 90% of lead guitarists ever) with his own holiday.

There's for example "The Nigel Tufnel Day Appreciation Society and Quilting Bee in Favor of Declaring & Observing November 11, 2011 as Nigel Tufnel Day (in Recognition of Its Maximum Elevenness)" (website here).

And there's also a steadily-growing Facebook group called "Declare 11/11/11 Nigel Tufnel Day," with almost 15,000 members and counting (here)

Here's the clip that started it all (click here).

About this project:

My name is Sian Heder and I am a filmmaker living in Los Angeles. I am asking for your help in making my next short film, DOG EAT DOG. With two feature projects in the process of being assembled, (which, you may be aware, is like herding cats), I have decided the time has come to make another short. Many of you may have supported my first film, MOTHER, which went on to win at Cannes and garnered many awards at film festivals worldwide. This new project is a short comedy collaboration with my old and dear friend, actor Zachary Quinto. We are using Kickstarter to both raise funds for the film AND to make a sizable donation to the Humane Society in support of dog adoption. So this is both art and charity.

Charlotte Ginsburg on von Trier, Kiki Dunst, Amrika, and Melancholia

Melancholia features Gainsbourg and Kirsten Dunst and Claire and Justine, sisters brought together at the former’s house for the latter’s wedding only to see its opulence and joy flushed away by Justine’s debilitating depression. Meanwhile, Claire’s short-tempered husband John (Kiefer Sutherland) studies the approach of a new planet named Melancholia, which may or may not be on a crash course with Earth. Justine’s convalescence dovetails with Claire’s apocalyptic panic, setting off the sisters’ epic exploration of the outer limits of love, family, faith and hope. Dunst’s performance earned her Best Actress honors at Cannes — the same prize Gainsbourg received in 2009  for her wrenching turn in von Trier’s Antichrist. Movieline recently spoke with Gainsbourg about that winning tradition, the maddening filmmaker and why America’s a nice place to visit yet she wouldn’t want to live here.

So I did something that I was terrified to do: I left the man I was deeply in love with and moved from London to New York. And basically everything that's happened in my life -- my children, my books, The Huffington Post, the fact that I'm standing here tonight -- happened because a man wouldn't marry me."

TLC Orders Drunk Driving Reality Show: D.U.I

What's more embarrassing than getting pulled over by the police? Getting it caught on camera.

Adding yet another reality show to its guilty pleasure television lineup, TLC has ordered a new drunk-driving reality series, called 'D.U.I.'

The series will go behind the scenes of drunk-driving law enforcement in Oklahoma. So think of it as another variation of 'COPS," but this show plans on following the drunk-driving suspects from the field sobriety tests to being interrogated by law enforcement and, if necessary, to their arrest and sentencing.

Each case will capture the full story, including the harsh realities the drivers must face and their families' reactions.

The network has picked up 12 episodes, with six debuting next month, and the rest planned for 2012. The first six episodes were shot in Pontotoc, Cleveland, Sequoyah, Tulsa and Oklahoma counties.

'D.U.I' is set to premiere on Dec. 1 at 9PM ET on TLC. Watch a sneak peek below.

Julie Taymor Tangles 'Turn Off The Dark' In A Legal Web

Sues For Creative Infringement

Director Julie Taymor filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the producers of Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, alleging they violated her creative rights and haven’t compensated her for the work she put into Broadway’s most expensive musical. Charles Spada, an attorney who filed the suit on behalf of the Tony Award-winning director, said Tuesday in a statement that “the producers’ actions have left her no choice but to resort to legal recourse to protect her rights.”

Rick Miramontez, the show’s spokesman, was not immediately aware of the lawsuit, filed in federal court in New York. Taymor was not available to comment.

Taymor who had been the Spider-Man director and co-book writer, was fired from the $75 million musical in March after years of delays, accidents and critical backlash. Philip William McKinley, who directed the Hugh Jackman musical The Boy From Oz in 2003, was hired to steer the ship. He was billed as creative consultant when the musical opened in June. The show has been doing brisk business ever since, easily grossing more than $1 million most weeks.

According to Spada, “producers have failed to compensate Ms. Taymor for their continued use of her work to date, despite the fact that the show has consistently played to capacity or near-capacity houses since its first public performance in November 2010.”

Taymor’s lawsuit comes less than a week after the Tony Awards Administration Committee ruled that only Taymor will be considered eligible for the Tony’s best direction of a musical category.
The Stage Directors and Choreographers Society filed an arbitration claim in June against the show’s producers over royalties.

The ever beautiful One Direction's 'Up All Night' Australian release date + Interview With Niall

One Direction's debut album 'Up All Night' finally has an Australian release date -- and Aussie directioners aren't going to have to wait too long to hear it!

'Up All Night' will be officially released in Australia on November 25. That means it's only two and a half weeks until we'll have it in our hands!

The album will contain the hit single 'What Makes You Beautiful', as well as plenty of other amazing songs.

But most importantly -- when are they coming to Australia? Niall wasn't totally sure, but he revealed that next year "there could be a few surprises". Sounds like we might be able to expect a 1D visit next year -- fingers crossed!

We told Niall that we'd give him some vegemite when the boys head down under, but he was more interested in the fact that we have Nando's here.

"You can eat Nando's in Australia? Ask me when I'm coming to Australia again!" he said.

Of course we obliged, and he replied, "Now! I'm on my way to Heathrow."

I love them so much! So excited for the Gotta Be You video eeeee, so close yet so far, I cannot take the suspense!!!

Flawfree Lucy Liu on Filming Southland

Lucy Liu has just finished shooting her first episode of TNT’s “Southland” — and has found the show testing her mettle. “You definitely get the grittiness, the reality of it,” she says of playing a cop in the January-debuting fourth season of the police drama.

“You just jump in headfirst. I’ve done a couple of stunts, and, you know, it’ s not about padding you up. It’s about throwing you around.

“I don’t think my martial arts training is going to save me in this environment,” she adds with a laugh. “They can be running around using their guns.”

The “Charlie’s Angels” star went on a police ride-along with fellow “Southland” actor Michael Cudlitz to get to know her character’s territory recently — cruising through some of the most crime-infested South Central Los Angeles neighborhoods. She found the experience heart-rending.

first look at Burt Reynolds on "Archer"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

FX as a channel has really come into its own lately by developing some of the best series airing on any network like It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy and Justified. On top of these increasingly popular live action comedies and dramas, the network also has one of the funniest animated shows going with Archer, a spoof of the spy genre. Archer can give any series a run for their money for the best animated comedy currently on TV, which is why they're able to land some big guest voices like Burt Reynolds.

According to EW, our favorite international man of mystery, Sterling Archer (voiced by the incomparable H. Jon Benjamin), will get to meet Burt Reynolds in the upcoming third season. Like, actually Burt Reynolds because the man has signed on to provide the voice for himself... yes, Burt Reynolds is voicing Burt Reynolds, who happens to be one of Sterling's all-time idols. However, things aren't quite so ideal when his idol and his mom, Mallory (Jessica Walters), start seeing each other romantically. If you watch the show, you know Reynolds fits in perfectly with the slew of suitors that Mallory has had over the years not to mention that he's also constantly getting mentioned (praised) by the spy himself. In a word, perfect.

I can't wait to watch the inevitable giddy scenes between the spy and the iconic actor before Sterling realizes that Burt's banging Mallory... to put it mildly. On the casting, creator Adam Reed said, "Archer constantly tries to imitate Burt and always raves about Burt's movies and all-around awesomeness. So to have Burt recording voice-overs for the show was just amazing." This wouldn't be the first time Burt's stepped behind the mic for an animated show, having done voices from King of the Hill and American Dad!. Archer returns in early 2012 to FX.

Kurt Loder: MJ Was a Child Molester

Kurt Loder -- the longtime face of "MTV News" -- says he believes Michael Jackson was a child molester.

Loder appeared on the "Jeff and Jeremy in the Morning" radio show this morning ... when he was asked if he thought MJ's death was a tragedy.

Loder replied, "Its a shame how he grew up ... his childhood was a shame ... there is many sad aspects to his life, ... on the other hand, I think he was a child molester, and that sort of tempers any feelings you might have about him."

When asked why he believed MJ molested kids, Loder claimed he knew about secret payouts to the parents of little boys ... and pointed to MJ's bizarre behavior.

"Having sleepovers with little boys, and you're a 40 year old man??? Uh, NO. You're like a child molester."

Loder continues, "Maybe being a child molester is the product of a pretty terrible childhood he had ... you can see why that might have happened. On the other hand, molesting children is bad."

New Art from SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Features Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth & Charlize Theron

Just a few days ago, that other Snow White movie (the one directed by Tarsem Singh described as a light “comedic adventure”) finally got a title: Mirror Mirror. Now some new artwork has been released from the competing project based on the classic fairy tale, Snow White and the Huntsman. This one, directed by Rupert Sanders, is more in the vein of a Lord of the Rings-style epic, and is said to be rather dark and gritty in tone. Based on what I saw at the film's Comic-Con panel, Sanders isn’t pulling any punches, and we’re in for quite the visual treat if his feature directorial debut will be anything close to the reel he showed us at the panel. This artwork is very much along those lines, and I think people are gonna be surprised when a trailer is eventually released.

Nicole Richie Named Style Influencer Of The Year

Nicole Richie has long been a trendsetter, and last night she was finally honoured for her fashion savvy.

She wore a simple ring and earrings as well as her wedding band and held a simple but tasteful black clutch.
Motherhood clearly has not changed the diminutive designer; she and husband Joel Madden are parents to three-year-old daughter Harlow and two-year-old son Sparrow.

The Lonely Island sued over two SNL Digital Short songs

A lawsuit filed last week against Saturday Night Live‘s Andy Samberg and The Lonely Island is no laughing matter. According to documents obtained by EW, St. Louis musicians Aleric "Rick tha Ruler" Banks and Monique Hines claim they created and copyrighted the music forming the basis for SNL digital shorts "Shy Ronnie" and "Like A Boss." Banks and Hines say they sent master recordings to Samberg and his bandmates Akiva Shaffer and Jorma Taccone, who then recorded their own lyrics over the plaintiff’s music. The music for "Like a Boss" appeared on SNL April 4, 2009. "Shy Ronnie" aired Dec. 5, 2009, and was nominated for a 2010 Emmy.

NBC Universal, which owns SNL, and Universal Republic Records are also named in the suit. Banks and Hines claim they have received neither credit nor royalties for their music despite petitions to Universal Music Group. They are seeking all profits gained from the skits, plus attorney’s fees, unspecified additional damages, and interest.

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have defended their decision to have another child.

The couple announced on Tuesday that they are expecting their 20th child, telling Ann Curry that they are "really excited" about the news.

The two have since responded to their critics, who questioned the parents' decision to have another child after their 19th child Josie was born prematurely.

"Every child deserves to be excited they are a part of life," Michelle told People. "Even when we were having our 5th and 6th [kid]… we would celebrate each pregnancy."

She went on to say that there is no reason to assume that she will experience the same problems with her new pregnancy as she did with her previous one.

"That whole mindset that you stop after a problem pregnancy isn't realistic," Michelle added. "You may encounter struggles along the way. You may not have a perfect pregnancy, but each child is a precious gift."

In June, the couple welcomed their second grandchild after their son Josh and his wife Anna became parents to their second child.

The first announcement was very short. Michelle has said a lot since then.

Liam Neeson Kicks Nature’s Ass in New Images From THE GREY

Here’s the thing: you don’t want to mess around with Liam Neeson. Whether you be kidnappers, evil Sith lords or Nazis, Neeson will find a way to one-up you. The same goes for angry wolves, as Joe Carnahan’s THE GREY is sure to the prove.

Why Lindsay Lohan's Marilyn Monroe Impression Is Just Spooky And Sad

I promise I'm going to talk about Lindsay Lohan and her latest incremental slide away from respectability, but first, let's talk about Michelle Williams. The insanely gifted actress-- those are words we once used to describe Lohan, remember-- is winning raves for her performance in the upcoming My Week With Marilyn, in which she channels the late starlet in both her va-va-voom performances and fragile inner life. The movie occasionally slips up and buys into the played out myth of Marilyn the sexpot, but Williams firmly doesn't-- even when she's flirting relentlessly with her young assistant or signing autographs, WIlliams lets you see the human being underneath, reminding you at all time that her iconic status came at an enormous cost.

That kind of performance is pretty much the only Marilyn Monroe homage we need these days, nearly 50 years after Monroe's death and after we've seen any number of starlets follow the same bumpy road from stardom to paranoia to drug addiction to, sometimes, an early death. It's the road that Lindsay Lohan appears to be on herself, constantly in and out of jail and flirting with drugs and isolating herself from most of the people who ever believed in her. When Michelle Williams plays Marilyn Monroe, it's an interesting turn for an actress who has proven herself capable of many talents; when Lindsay Lohan mimics Monroe, as in a 2008 New York Magazine shoot, it's a spooky way of projecting the past on the soon-to-be-tragic present.

Which is why I can't possibly understand why Lohan has chosen to recreate Monroe again, this time in the pages of Playboy in a shoot that Hugh Hefner himself promises will be "classy, very classy." The photos apparently mimic the famous nude photos of Monroe taken by Tom Kelley in 1949, when Monroe was about to be let go of her contract at 20th Century Fox and was flat broke; she's said herself many times that she only did the photos for the money, and according to this memorabilia site, the $50 she was paid was the exact amount it took to get back her impounded car. The $1 million Lohan received for Playboy is obviously a much bigger payday, but probably also for the same reason: a starlet on the outs with Hollywood, left to rely on her body for cash.

It breaks my heart to see Lindsay Lohan to continue to fall apart year after year, but hearing that she's deliberately mimicking Marilyn Monroe again makes me wonder if she really doesn't get it. Why would a starlet in freefall choose to emulate another one whose career troubles spiraled into her death? Especially with Michelle Williams's more nuanced portrayal out in theaters, why would Lohan want to trot out a more shallow and tired take on Monroe? It makes me wonder if she even had any say in the matter, or if she showed up for the Playboy shoot as complacent and easily manipulated as the broke Monroe was in 1949: eager to please an industry that no longer wanted her, taking the cash and running.

Lindsay Lohan hasn't starred in a theatrically released film since 2007, and her last movie to get anything resembling good reviews was Bobby in 2006. But the $1 million payday from Playboy proves her name still means something, and when it comes time to crawl out of this muck, someone will still be interested. It was the same for Marilyn Monroe, of course, who kept working even when she was visibly falling apart. But Lindsay? Can we let the similarities end there? The more you try to emulate Marilyn, the more we're going to think you're actively rooting for your own untimely demise. There are at least a few of us left out here who are hoping for the turnaround Marilyn never managed to achieve.
