Anya Ayoung-Chee dishes on Project Runway, her passion for design & overcoming a scandal!

In this recently posted interview with Anya she shares about Project Runway, the Miss Universe sex tape scandal and her feelings about beauty pageants in general. You can read the full transcript at the sauce but I've snipped the key parts :)

JB: Did you really learn to sew four months before Project Runway Season 9?

Anya: Fuh real, fuh real, fuh real. Delia Alleyne from Tobago taught me.

JB: Other than yourself, who are your favorite designers from PR season 9?

Anya: Um…Well that’s a really hard question because we really made friends with each other, so it would be easier to say that I really became friends with Joshua M., even though he was labeled as quite a bully on the show, but we really got along. Laura, Kathleen and I were like besties and in terms or design skills, Viktor was an excellent designer, esthetic wise I really loved Olivier’s work.

JB: Other than Meiling, who has been a staple in your life, who are some of the other major designers that inspire you?

Anya: Meiling is like my second mom. (smiles) But um…the late Alexander McQueen, who is sort of everyone’s God in some ways, moreso now that he’s not here. I’ve always loved him. He’s a a genius and outside of the realm of design, he was an artist. The Classics – Chanel. I have more recent love for designers like Isabel Marant and Mara Hoffman, who has a very similar esthetic to me, so I am always aware of what she does. The list goes on and on, I can list many for so many reasons.

JB: You’ve studied design in fashion capitals London and New York. Tell us more.

Anya: I studied communication design which is basically graphic design. I got my degree from Parsons and Central Saint Martins in London. And once I graduated, I worked as a graphic designer for a couple of years, until I went home and I did the pageant. And from that point on, I’ve been in fashion.

I have found a new favourite site. Oh lord.

More Pluto In Scorpio, Ke$ha’s Piscean Sheen And Black Moon Lilith In Aries; Collective Anger Of The Denied Feminine Principle

The eyes have it.

While Babylon only needed one whore, America, apparently needs
millions of them.
This was the impression I got when left the carnival
of degradation aka Ke$ha’s live show last week. I met up with some old
friends from the music biz. One of them was in the sponsorship game and
had tix for the velvet rope party where Ke$ha’s “team” as one perky,
forty-something-blonde from a major sponsor called it, gathered.

While people tried to pour as many free cocktails down their gullets
to wash down cardboard meatballs and gelatinous chicken satays, I stayed
clear, having eschewed alcohol over the past few months for a new buzz;
What I witnessed had me second guessing my decision to stay
dry. It might have staved off the cloud of depression that followed me
like a shadow,
all the way through my darkened dreams later that night.

Amazon rolls out Kindle library lending plan

Want to write in the margins of your library books? No problem, now that you can check out books on a Kindle app. Amazon announced that starting today, more than 11,000 libraries will be able to loan out Kindle books to readers. The Kindle library books will include all the e-reader’s signature features, including Whispersync, which automatically syncs up any digital notes, bookmarks, or highlights you might make — and even cooler, all of your notes will be available the next time you check out that particular title.

You don’t need to have an actual Kindle device, although you do need an account. Library books will be available via Kindle app for Android, iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC, Mac, BlackBerry or Windows Phone, as well as in their web browser with Kindle Cloud Reader.

Amazon lays out the whole borrowing process:Customers will use their local library’s website to search for and select a book to borrow. Once they choose a book, customers can choose to "Send to Kindle" and will be redirected to to login to their account and the book will be delivered to the device they select via Wi-Fi, or can be transferred via USB.

Books will be deleted from your device once the lending period (typically two weeks) is over. While the new lending capabilities are pretty exciting, only a fraction of Amazon’s digital titles will be available through libraries. Check your library’s website for availability and tell us about the selection!

This Guy Sounds a Hell of a Lot Like Freddie Mercury

On the one hand, you have Fox's The X Factor, an atrocious, over-hyped reality show that seeks to lavish $5 million on a nobody's recording career, yet can't seem to properly mike its own judges. On the other, you have The Queen Extravaganza, a lesser-known talent search that will offer "shit hot vocalists and musicians" the opportunity to tour with a massive, Cirque de Soleil-esque Queen tribute show.

By way of talent, X Factor has thusfar provided us with, uh, this. Extravaganza, on the other hand, has already minted one guaranteed winner, in this startlingly accurate Freddie Mercury sound-alike. His name is Marc Martel, and he's the singer for a Christian rock group from Saskatchewan called downhere. Freddie would probably have taken a perverse pleasure in that fact.

Um, how the heck did I miss the fact that Cirque is doing a Queen tribute show?! Sounds awesome, sign me up. :D

The Philosophy Behind Zooey Deschanel’s Quirky Style

She’s charmed viewers and critics with her FOX series The New Girl, but long before she hit the small screen, Zooey Deschanel was charming the world with her one-of-a-kind style.

However, the actress says there are a few secrets to pulling off her signature vintage look. “Wear what looks good on you,” she tells “Also, fabrics have gotten a lot more comfortable in recent years, so new clothes with vintage cuts are also a great option for practicality.” Not surprisingly, she also names Diane Keaton as one of her style icons.

When she’s not rocking vintage, though, the actress finds herself wearing a few key pieces constantly, including “Band Of Outsiders jackets, Paige jeans and dresses from I also love J.Crew for basics.”

And when it comes to caring for that porcelain skin, Deschanel says a simple routine yields the best results — as does matching makeup to your eyes. “Take care of your skin and you won’t need too much makeup,” says the face of Rimmel London. “Pick eyeshadow colors that contrast with your eye color. For blue eyes, copper and orange are great, green eyes are great in purple or pink, and brown eyes look great in blue and green shadows.”

But just because she’s a Hollywood actress doesn’t mean the girl doesn’t like to score a good deal. “I like to buy bathing suits at the end of summer,” she shares, “when they go on sale!”

Dakota Fanning Is Picking Clothes for College

Dakota Fanning just celebrated her move from Los Angeles to New York at her first Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, but the star is busy tackling an even bigger milestone now: starting her freshman year at NYU.

“Going to college is a bit different than going back to high school,” the new student told PEOPLE recently at a Marc Jacobs bash. “You can kind of wear whatever you want, and I had a uniform in high school.”

But don’t think you’ll catch Dakota, who’s living in a Manhattan apartment instead of the dorms, taking on sloppy student style. “If you ever catch me in sweatpants in class, that’s not good,” joked the star. “I’ve tried not to dress like that.”

However, the Los Angeles native did come prepared for the East Coast temperature changes — sans sweatpants. “I knew to bring a lot of coats, and my Hunter rain boots,” she shared. Still, Fanning admitted that shopping for school is intimidating. For instance, “What pencil case do you buy for college?” she asked.

Fanning might have a little help in the wardrobe department courtesy of her pal Marc Jacobs. The actress — a muse for his line (as is her sister) — serves as the face of his latest fragrance, Oh, Lola! “It’s been such an honor to work with someone who you admire and actually love wearing their clothes and love their brand,” she said. “I think Marc is such a genius and so creative, and I think he proves time and time again that he can do anything. To be involved in anything he touches is a pleasure.”

Though the Oh, Lola! campaign stirred a bit of controversy thanks to its provocative imagery, Fanning said she had a blast during the photo shoot. “It was amazing,” she told reporters at a recent Oh, Lola! event in N.Y.C. “Getting to work with Juergen [Teller] again, it’s always so much fun.”

And she definitely had faith in her crew — and the designer. Fanning showed up to set without having seen the bottle, and unaware of the scent’s smell. “I got there … and it was exactly what I love, and it’s pink — which is my favorite color,” she shared. “So it couldn’t have been more perfect for me.”

Alex Pettyfer on the set of 'Magic Mike'

So it's not a teeny, tiny g-string...yet. But we still like what we see.

Paparazzi caught Alex Pettyfer showing off his way sculpted six pack in a pair of skimpy little briefs on the set of Steven Soderbergh's Magic Mike.

And if this is how Alex is looking these days, can you just imagine what those other dudes are ready to show off?

'Cause we hear the whole flick is a competition for best abs.

"The guys are all working out like fiends," an on-set source spilled to us. "They're eating pure protein and no carbs to be extra lean."

And if the nudie competition is inspiring dudes like Joe "Eight Pack" Manganiello and Matt "Dreamy Eyes and Washboard Abs" Bomer to get even more buff, well, this might just be our favorite movie ever.

Especially since one of them might have to show it all.

Speaking of full frontal fun, just how sexy have the scenes gotten so far?

While costar Olivia Munn has said that boys are already shakin' it in their banana hammocks, we hear things are only going to get hotter.

"Things have been pretty mellow so far," our set spy dishes. "They wanted to ease into everything."

Ease away, boys. Just as long as you get to the money shots eventually.

Early Ratings: 'The X Factor' Better Than 'New Girl,' But Well Short of Idol-esque

Last night's premiere of The X Factor scored an 8.7 overnight metered market household rating. That's 18% better than the premiere of the New Girl on Tuesday Night, but about 39% less than January premiere of American Idol which ultimately scored a 14.2 household rating in the final numbers. It was more than a 100% improvement over the year ago's Hell's Kitchen. So a solid start by pretty much any benchmark other than comparing it to American Idol. Sadly for the Fox PR machine, those comparisons are inevitable. The X Factor wasn't the highest-rated show of the night with the metered market households, ABC's hit Modern Family took the honors with a 9.8 household rating for its one hour episode, which was up versus last year's 30 minute episode by more than 10%. By household rating The X Factor also trailed CBS's Criminal Minds which scored a 8.9 overnight rating.

Glee Stars Agree: New Season Less Burn Out, "Back to the Basics"

So Glee's premiere wasn't as big in the ratings department as Gleeks may have expected, but no matter. At least the working environment on the show has improved.

Ryan Murphy said it himself last when he revealed last week that he's trying to limit his cast's workload to three or four days a week to prevent "burn out."

And we're happy to report...

The stars of the show seem to be enjoying a newly improved McKinley.

"Honestly, [Murphy] has really spread [filming] out so people do have like one or two days off, which never happened last year," Harry Shum Jr. tells me. "It's been great on set."

Not that there aren't some long days. "What's really been different in the new episodes is the storylines are really investing in these characters," Shum says. "We're not just sitting in the choir room and delivering lines. There's a lot of character work and it makes the days go faster. Even if you do have a 12-hour day, it's fine because it feels like it's going faster."

Jenna Ushkowitz seconds that. "It's back to basics," she said. "We definitely feel that. It's definitely about the characters. I mean, there are bell and whistles but it's a lot more about how the characters are feeling emotionally and their journey."

Ushkowitz said a break between touring this summer and starting work on the new season also helped. "We had four weeks off," she says. "Spending that much time together through season two through the tour, it gets hard. But now, you get a minute to be yourself and come back and be like, Oh, my God—my best friends!"

And Shum is really excited to report that he Mike Chang will be singing this season. "Really sing!" he says. "You get to hear him solo sing. And it's a real song...It was so much fun, but we'll let the people judge how well Mike Chang does."

Dayum Modern Family

Ratings for 9/21

Fox eked out a win on the night with adults 18-49, but The X Factor's 4.2 adults 18-49 rating and 12.14 million viewers was nowhere close to Idol and well short of Modern Family's 6.0 adults 18-49 rating and 14.3 million viewers.

ABC's Revenge got off to a nice start, winning the 10pm hour with a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating and and 10.15 million viewers. That bettered Ted Danson's debut on CSI's 3.1 adults 18-49 rating, but CSI won the hour in total viewers with 12.59 million. The Stabler-less Law & Order: SVU was last at 10pm with a 2.3 adults 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers.

As even NBC surely expected, its new comedies were down big from last week's premieres following America's Got Talent. Up All Night held up pretty well all things considered with a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating but Free Agents fell to a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. Harry's Law got off to a (s)low start and was pounded into dust by the 9pm competition with a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating.

ABC's The Middle scored a 3.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Jonah Hill vs. Matthew Morrison

You better watch your back, Matthew Morrison, Jonah Hill is pissed.

The newly svelte celeb visited Jimmy Fallon's "Late Night" to promote the upcoming film, "Moneyball" but ended up revealing his developing feud with the "Glee" star.

It started innocently enough: They were both attending a Fox function when Morrison made a joke at the funny guy's expense. Then, they ended up at the same "douchey Hollywood" party but Morrison was wrapped up in a conversation with "'Gossip Girl' guy" Chase Crawford, so Hill figured he would sneak up behind them and give Morrison a taste of his own medicine.

But before he could execute his plan, Morrison took another jab at the "Superbad" star, making him the punchline in his private joke with Crawford.

Hill ended his tale with WWE-style call-out. "Matthew Morrison, you better bring your sh-t next time I see you...I'd like to see him sing his way out of this one."

Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen Make Last-Ditch Plea for Their Real Housewives Lives

Forget Real—Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen are becoming desperate Housewives.

After being booted off The Real Housewives of New York City last week along with castmates Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop, the couple are fighting for their reality-TV lives, attempting to sway the powers that be to stay on the show and still collect a paycheck from Bravo.

So what's their latest scheme?

As of last night, Alex and unofficial Housewife No. 6, Simon, were planning to head to Bravo HQ in New York today to meet with reality honcho Andy Cohen and producers to make a last-ditch bid to remain on the show in some capacity.

"Basically, they've been begging to stay on. Simon questions how he can 'harness the swell of support' behind them," says a source to Bravo. "They're not accepting that it's done. They are meeting with Bravo this afternoon and Bravo doesn't want them on the show, but Andy would like them to pop up occasionally, whether on Housewives or other programs on the network is what they're saying."

Bravo has declined to comment on the behind-the-scenes goings-on.

Meanwhile, we've also learned that castmember Jill will be headed off to sail on a cruise ship called The World for a week for some downtime following her firing.

"She was in Nashville dropping her daughter off at school and now she's going to relax," says our source.

"She still feels a little betrayed. Jill knew Carole [Radziwill] was coming on the show, but she never knew she was being thrown off. She's grateful for what Bravo did for her, but feels they just tossed her aside."

Too bad they can't turn this stuff into a reality series. Talk about must-see TV!

The "Charlie's Angels" Reboot Gets Bad Reviews

The Hollywood Reporter
Charlie's Angels: TV Review

ABC's new drama -- which stars Minka Kelly, Annie Ilonzeh, Rachael Taylor and Ramon Rodriguez -- is like a spoof that suddenly took itself seriously, writes THR's chief TV critic Tim Goodman.

Nostalgia is a tricky business, particularly put into the hands of people who don’t really know how to handle the nuance of it.

ABC's new drama Charlie’s Angels seem to want to go back to the '70s to rustle up some girl power, but it fails miserably and offensively.

First Look at Dark Shadows

(Click for pic HQ)

Behold the real visage of Johnny Depp’s vampire from Dark Shadows!

Last week, long-range paparazzi shots of the actor wearing ghostly white makeup, large sunglasses and a pulled down fedora made fans of the original 1966-71 supernatural soap opera bristle nervously, with complaints he looked simply too strange.

Nevermind that he’s playing a 200-year-old vampire, which is strange enough.

As you can see from this cast shot, Depp’s bloodsucking pater familias Barnabas Collins actually borrows heavily from the aged-little boy look of original Dark Shadows star Jonathan Frid — not that anyone would be happy to see this guy show up as your prom date.

Still, this official First Look may reassure those die-hard fans of the original series, about a vampire whose extended family are bedeviled by ghosts, witches, and other gothic woes.

Depp, who fought for years to make this movie, is one of those fans. “I do remember, very vividly, practically sprinting home from school in the afternoon to see Jonathan Frid play Barnabas Collins,” the actor says. “Even then, at that age, I knew — this has got to be weird.”

Weird certainly sums up this particular family portrait — a shot director Tim Burton, who also obsessed over Dark Shadows as a boy, staged in the early days of production.

“I remember seeing a group photograph of the cast of the original series,” he tells EW. “For me it captured the weird Dark Shadows vibe in a single image. I had a brief window of opportunity to have our cast present at the same time, the day before principle photography began. We decided to stage a similar picture instead of rehearsing, to see if we captured the Dark Shadows feeling.”

Robert Pattinson NOT Recording an Album!

UPDATE! Wednesday, 9/21/11

Sorry, Robert Pattinson fans — that rumor that Robert Pattinson is at work recording an album simply is not true!

On Tuesday, US Weekly incorrectly reported that the "Breaking Dawn" star was indulging his passion for music by hitting the recording studio.

"The report is untrue," his rep told MTV News. "He is not working on an album right now."

That is not to say that more singing is not in Robert's future — after all, he previously recorded "Never Think" and "Let Me Sign" for the original "Twilight" soundtrack. But it's not happening now.

Pandora Ends the Tyranny of 40-hour Listening Caps

New Pandora for All

Today is a big day for Pandora: after more than a year of planning, design, engineering, and beta testing we're launching an entirely new Pandora website.

In late 2010 we started with a clean sheet of paper, challenging ourselves to create a new internet radio experience that was fast, social, and easy while still being familiar to the tens of millions of people that listen to Pandora each month.

The result is "New Pandora" -- the same personalized radio experience you've enjoyed for years, wrapped in a new HTML5 look that makes it more responsive, easier to use, and better integrated with the friends and music lovers in your life. We also think it looks more beautiful than ever, but we're biased.

For the last two months we've been gradually rolling a preview of the new site out to our listeners, taking their feedback, fixing bugs and making improvements here and there. With all those little fixes and refinements in place, today we're rolling out the new site for everyone.

Some of our new features include:

Simplified Station Creation - Enhanced auto-complete choices and personalized suggestions make creating new stations and discovering new music or comedy more intuitive and personal.

Discovery of Music with Friends - Enhanced listener profiles and a new music feed offer a centralized place to find, like and comment on what friends and like-minded listeners are discovering and enjoying on Pandora. The music feed will roll out slowly over the course of the coming days. In addition to the prominent new "share" button, stations now have their own URLs, making it super easy for listeners to share favorite stations via Twitter, Facebook, or email.

Improved Control - Prominent and ubiquitous access to familiar player control buttons including Play, Pause, Thumbs-Up and Thumbs-Down icons helps listeners to easily personalize their music and comedy stations. A new shuffle feature also allows listeners to shuffle any collection of stations to add variety to their listening experience.

Enhanced Artist Information - An option to learn more about the music, find lyrics, read artists' biographies and expand the album art size.

Unlimited listening - We've removed the 40 hours listening cap - you can now listen as much as you want for free.

The "Get $leazy" tour closes in Phoenix, live videos

Kesha at Comerica Theatre, 9/20/11 ( + VIDEOS)

September 20, 2011
Comerica Theatre

After Kesha's strong show last summer at Marquee Theatre it was exciting to see what the young singer would bring to a bigger venue and how she would change up the set. Her past performance had been so impressive, surely the larger space would give her even more to work with. For better or for worse, at Kesha's Get Sleazy Tour last night, the emphasis on the show wasn't on the vocals, which took a back-seat to the antics -- it was on throwing a kick-arse party that celebrated the entire tour, since the concert was the last of the 30-date jaunt across the country.

Not that the audience didn't have fun. It's sort of hard not to dance when you're constantly being barraged by glitter, there are giant penis costumes wiggling around on-stage, and the performers wear everything from dinosaur heads to glow-in-the-dark costumes.

Julie Marie Pacino will lose her license for 90 days, attend a drunk driving program, and has paid a $300 fine after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in New York in July.

Pacino, an aspiring film director and producer, was nabbed by New York cops in her unregistered 2009 Mercedes about 1:30am on July 30.

Asked whether she had been drinking, the 21-year-old Hollywood hopeful allegedly admitted she "had about three beers" and smoked weed at home a few hours prior to driving.

Lady Gaga Calls For Meeting With Obama After Bullied Teen's Suicide

Lady Gaga was so shaken with the news about the death of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer this weekend that she has called for President Obama to enact laws making bullying a hate crime.

Rodemeyer, who had posted an "It Gets Better" video in May about his long struggle with bullying at school, took his life on Sunday after what his parents said was years of taunting over his sexuality.

In his video, Rodemeyer cited Gaga as an inspiration, saying, "She makes me so happy. She lets me know that I was born this way. And that's my advice to you from her: You were born this way. All you have to do is hold your head up and you'll go far." The teen seems on the verge of tears when discussing Gaga's message and promising to keep on going despite the hate.

On Wednesday, Gaga expressed her sadness over Rodemeyer's death. "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling," she tweeted. "I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone's life." She went further, posting Rodemeyer's "Better&" video, and insisting that bullying "must become illegal. It is a hate crime."

In fact, Gaga claimed in a subsequent tweet, she's so upset that she is planning to meet with President Obama on the matter.

"I will not stop fighting," she wrote. "This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey." A spokesperson for the White House could not confirm at press time if Gaga has officially set up a meeting with the president to discuss the issue.

MTV's ongoing "A Thin Line" project provides stories and resources for anyone who believes they are being cyberbullied or who is looking for ways to stop harassment by digital means.

FBI Arrests Suspected LulzSec and Anonymous Hackers

The FBI arrested two alleged members of the hacking collectives LulzSec and Anonymous on Thursday morning in San Francisco and Phoenix, has learned.

Search warrants were also being executed in New Jersey, Minnesota and Montana, an FBI official told

One individual was described as part of the LulzSec group, the other part of the group that calls itself Anonymous, the official said.

Cody Kretsinger, a 23-year-old from Phoenix, Ariz., was charged with conspiracy and the unauthorized impairment of a protected computer, according to the federal indictment unsealed Thursday morning.

Kretsinger, who goes by the online name "recursion," is believed to be a current or former member of LulzSec and is accused of being involved in the hacking of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Kretsinger and other coconspirators are accused of using a hacking technique called a SQL injection to obtain confidential information from Sony's computer systems.

According to the indictment, he and coconspirators distributed stolen information by posting it on LulzSec's website before announcing the attack on Twitter.

'16 and Pregnant' Star Could Be Booted From Military

Life is about to get very real for reality star Josh Rendon... he could be kicked out of the Air Force.

TMZ has learned the "16 and Pregnant" star is currently under investigation by the military for his conduct leading up to his arrest earlier this week on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and drug possession.

A rep for Little Rock Air Force Base, where the incident took place, tells TMZ ... Rendon could be court-martialed, or face other administrative action. In other words, he could be discharged.

If he gets kicked out of the military, Rendon and his wife, Ebony Jackson, will lose their home -- because they live on the base.

On Tuesday, police raided Rendon and Ebony's pad, after someone complained about living conditions in the house. Police found the place covered in feces.

The couple's 2-year-old daughter was taken away by the Department of Human Services.

TMZ spoke to Rendon. He had no comment.

Michael Fassbender San Sebastian Film Festival portraits and photocall

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Check out Michael Fassbender at a photo call for Shame at the San Sebastian Film Festival today. He is really hustling it for this movie, having decided, obviously, as Sarah from Cinesnark noted the other day -click here for a refresher - to focus most of his campaign energies towards this film for his best chance at an Oscar nomination. The industry is in love with him right now. It’s looking good...right now. Early in the game. The question is will Academy voters get all prudey about the film? It’s quite... I mean... provocative is a nice way of saying it. Disturbing for some too. Sex addiction is not sexy, put it that way. You should see it when it’s released.

Anyway, how hot is he in this t-shirt?

You know what my favourite, favourite thing about Michael Fassbender is?

My friend Laura, you know Laura if you’ve been reading long enough, the one with the Robert Pattinson problem, well, because of Michael Fassbender, she no longer has that problem... because, obviously. Michael Fassbender is a Man.

Dan Harmon gives Community spoilers

Before the always-inventive Community unveils its season 3 premiere tonight at 8 p.m. on NBC, creator Dan Harmon would like to make this pledge to you. “We’re going to be weird in ways that addict you to the show,” he says. “We’re going to be weird in insanely grounded, clever ways — not weird in ways that make [NBC parent company] Comcast go, ‘Isn’t that the show where everyone’s dressed like a Viking?’” Herewith, your cheat sheet to the new season of the community college-set comedy, as graciously provided by Professor Harmon.

BREAKING NEWS: Gwyneth Paltrow Releases Startling Expose on Plight of the Filthy Rich, Emmy Attendee

So nearly two weeks ago, getting everyone settled in back to school mode, I woke up to a huge surprise: I had won a Creative Arts Emmy for my guest role on Glee! This was especially meaningful, as my father (who made great TV shows back in the day—"The White Shadow", "St. Elsewhere") had been nominated and lost the Emmys nine times. So I'm pretty chuffed about the whole thing. And my dad would have been over the moon. Anyway, I was asked to present at the big Emmy telecast so I hopped on a plane! And may I please thank Ryan Murphy for thinking up Holly Holliday and deciding to call me up about her. Wow. And thanks to the whole Glee family who are among some of the best people I've ever had the good fortune to work with.

My journey to the Emmys starts Saturday morning in Paris where I stayed at the new and very gorgeous hotel Shangri-La Hotel, after a friend's birthday dinner.

I must first commend Gwyneth on her strength and poise in the face of adversity. When she had to say goodbye to her beloved girls, I just...please excuse me, I need but a moment to collect myself *breathe luvthatdrtywata, breathe* seeing Gwyneth say goodbye to her Neil Lane jewels, let's just say that watching Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice doesn't even come close. To make a women part from her Neil Lane is sheer misogyny and a woman of Gwyneth's caliber should NOT have to lay down to the tyranny of this patriarchal society any longer! This is 1996 for crying out loud! And sweaty seat fillers? What is this? The Ice Capades? Am I at a traveling, theatrical, figure skating show? No, no, this is not The Ice Capades! This is the motherfucking. Emmy Awards and I will not allow some working class, community college drop-out to sweat all over my Gwynnie's Parisian couture. This type of behavior is unacceptable in this day and age and if you care at all about basic human decency you will be as outraged as I. Take to the street and shout "I'm rich as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore!" Maybe then, people will finally take a stand against the oppression of rich, white people everywhere. Maybe then...

GOT-Withdrawal Post: Hervé Léger S/S 2012 fit for a Khaleesi?

It's not unusual for a Hervé Léger bandage dress to have a whiff of danger and power. And Max and Lubov Azria seem to like it that way. For Spring, they built on last season's armor theme with crafty detail and tribal motifs to create a look that read dystopian warrior princess. (Game of Thrones fans, think of a wardrobe fit for a Khaleesi and you've got it.) Things were fierce enough with braided harnesses and rows of cylindrical beads approximating golden artillery, but strapped and buckled gladiator boots to the knee underscored the point a bit too heavily at times. Though the scraped-back hair and minimal makeup made these girls look not-to-be-messed-with, no one ever said that being tough precluded luxury. To that end, the ikat-textured jacquard glowed with rose gold, silver, or gold foil. On one dress, a zigzag pattern was picked out in a barrelful of seed beads, the kind of thing you might trade for cattle in a Mad Max world.

OH NO! X Factor Edits Things For Shock Value

Geo Godley on 'The X Factor': The nasty and the truth behind the performance

Wednesday night viewers fell for The X Factor airing on Fox , and a new episode airs Thursday night. While many people are buzzing about the incredible performances they saw, there were some hideous ones as well. After all, this is a singing competition on Fox. It seems the one performance people just can't stop talking about is that of Geo Godley.

This is one of those performances that viewers knew would be bad and wacky from the moment he was introduced. Things went from awful to disgusting about halfway through his performance when he dropped his pants on stage. Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul appeared horrified, and Paula even left the judge's table to supposedly go dry heave in the bathroom. It's not surprising to learn that Godley did not receive the votes to move forward.

Mark Zuckerberg Unveils Facebook Music Details

As expected, Facebook has added a new feature that allows certain music services to integrate into the service so that as users of those services listen to music, that activity is automatically noted on their respective news feeds. The full list of services supported have not yet been fully revealed, but Spotify founder and CEO Daniel Ek significantly took the stage to showcase the new feature's functionality.

Facebook will list every song listened to, radio stations streamed and albums heard once giving it permission to do so. Something Zuckerberg called "real-time serendipity." It saves users from having to actively "like" any particular artist, song or album. It happens automatically. "You're going to discover all the things your friends are doing around you, right now," he said.

Users can control what they share, and who will see it. What's more, friends can then stream the same music from their friends' profiles in real time. During the demo, only Spotify was showcased. And while it wasn't made clear, it appeared that other users would need to have Spotify installed as well to stream music from their friends' feeds. There was no mention made of being able to stream the same songs from other music services, the notion of "content resolution" that has been rumored to be a key feature of what Facebook is offering.Collapse )

J.Lo and Jason Statham filming "Parker"

Alan Poul, who directed Lopez in the 2010 romcom The Back-up Plan, told Entertainment Weekly that he movie career is picking up because of her time on American Idol.

“The public memory is mercilessly short. Jennifer took time off to be a mother, and that unselfish little hiatus put some distance between her and her audience. Idol reminded people what an approachable, generous, and friendly person she is at heart.”

Porn star convicted of attempted murder in beating of girlfriend with toilet tank lid

Ryan Idol, a former gay porn star and Broadway actor, could be on his way to prison for the attempted murder of an ex-girlfriend.Idol -- aka Marc Anthony Donais -- was convicted of attempted murder for beating the woman over the head with a porcelain toilet tank lid.
Idol claims his actions were in self-defense. The woman testified that he attacked her in an East Sacramento, Calif., apartment when she tried to break up with him.

The prosecution claimed that the attack was the result of Donais' jealousy and ego issues.
"I think the jury was able to recognize that his narcissism and ego basically led him to where he was," Deputy District Attorney Kevin Jones told The Sacramento Bee.

"Obviously, he's extremely disappointed," Donais' attorney, Johnny Griffin III, told The Sacramento Bee. "He was devastated by the jury's verdict. He believes his behavior was in self-defense."

Donais appeared as "The Man of the Month" in a February 1989 issue of Playboy. He then went on to star in numerous gay porn films under the name Ryan Idol. He retired from the erotic film industry in 1996, and later fell out of a third-story window in a New York City apartment under mysterious circumstances.

MIck Jagger, New Band, New Video

The Rolling Stones front man has formed a band with Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart, together with Joss Stone, Damian Marley and keyboardist A.R. Rahman.
Imagine the front man antics of Mick Jagger, mixed with the soulful harmony of Joss Stone, Damian Marley's groovy vibe all blended by A.R. Rahman's funky keyboard style. The unlikely mash-up is the result of the latest all-star band, SuperHeavy, formed by Jagger and Eurythmics member Dave Stewart. When asked about how the project came to be, Stewart claims it's a mutual bond formed by their different backgrounds in music.

"We were just making music and if we didn't like it, we wouldn't use it. We just did it because we wanted to do an experiment, and that got developed and more and more developed until in the end, this record appeared." said Stewart in a report by ABC News. Stewart also mentioned how the excitement of their reciprocated interests sparked the collaboration.

"Every time you get into a room even with the same people, it is different because people come up with different things. It was a really interesting collaboration. To be honest it was easy. It was really easy because we got things straight away. You are very soon encouraged," added Stewart in the same report. In an interview for the Associated Press, Jagger talked about how he and Stewart came to a decision when picking the band members.

"One thing serious that we did think about, we didn't want people with loads of entourages and that would have too big of egos. It is very quickly how human beings sort of adjust to each other's temperaments and creativity. It is just like being in a cocktail party with a group of people. Either the cocktail party is going to go well or it doesn't. It depends on the vibe." said Jagger in the AP interview as reported by ABC.

What's On TV Tonight?: The Thursday Edition

For me, Thursday night’s TV lineup is the most difficult to navigate. There are just so many good shows from a variety of genres and they all fall into the same time slots. Not cool.

No self-respecting TV lover should ever have to choose between a snarky (and often shirtless) Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries and a witty (and often shirtless) Jeff Winger on Community. 'Ghostbusters' re-released in theaters next month

Looking to capitalize on moviegoers in the Halloween spirit -- not to mention build anticipation for a potential threequel -- Sony will re-release the original "Ghostbusters" in a 500-run domestic engagement, starting with one unspooling on Oct. 13.

Sony plans to play the pic every following Thursday -- also for a single screening -- ending on Oct. 27.

With scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky hard at work on the script for "Ghostbusters 3," the re-release could be interpreted as a way to introduce the series to a younger generation, as well as freshen up the property with existing fans.

"Ghostbusters" became a box office hit in 1984, earning $238 million domestically and spurring a 1989 sequel that cumed $112.5 million in the U.S. Sony hopes to appeal to fans of the original by using social-networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to promote the re-release.

"This is a special celebration of the movie, giving the fans a chance to see it on the bigscreen in perfect (2K) digital presentation," said Sony president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer. "As we head towards Halloween, we ain't afraid of no ghosts, but just the same, we're glad that everyone's favorite paranormal eliminators are on the case."

Sony also will relaunch the first "Ghostbusters" in limited releases in Canada and various international markets.

Daniel Craig Recalls 'Dragon Tattoo' Auditions For Lisbeth

Come on: Rooney Mara is Lisbeth Salander, or as close to the "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" hacker as anyone born outside of Scandinavia could possibly be.

We didn't need to see the latest, longest "Tattoo" trailer to be convinced the previously under-the-radar actress had transformed herself from a girl-next-door type to a worthy big-screen heir not only to the badass in Stieg Larsson's novel but to Noomi Rapace, who played Salander in the Swedish trilogy. We were sold after the first eye-popping photos of Mara in character appeared in January.

The CW continues to reach for new lows

CW preps 'Musical Chairs'

The CW is developing unscripted format "Extreme Musical Chairs" from the Gurin Co. and 405 Prods.
Series would transform the popular children's game into a physically demanding competition with multiple rounds of elimination set in an indoor obstacle course.

Format was created by Phil Gurin, Richard Joel and Deena Dill.

CW's interest in the project is a sign of the network's efforts to broaden the appeal of its programming. Past unscripted skeins on the net have been carefully tailored to young femmes with an emphasis on fashion and celebs.

Gurin is a reality vet whose most recent productions include ABC's "Shark Tank" and CMT's "The Singing Bee."

If u get shot in the mist of u hustling ur cool as fuck. If a mans naked pics hit the internet ppl think its cute or funny then just talk about how big he is. A Man can date 20 models at the same time and he is respected by the world and if a girl does it she's a disgusting whore and a "Star Fucker" Women get destroyed by the media and our peers constantly but I am writing this to specifically speak about myslf. Panic! At The Disco’s ‘Batman’ Song “Mercenary”: Idolator Premiere

Batman fans have more to look forward to than the new Arkham City video game. Steampunk-styled duo Panic! At The Disco have contributed a brand new song to Batman: Arkham City — The Album, the game’s accompanying soundtrack featuring original tunes inspired by the Dark Knight. Panic’s track, the theatrical “Mercenary”, carries the twosome’s baroque-pop-punk exuberance in spades. Give your backbone a shiver by listening to the premiere of their new song below!

“In love, I’ve always been a mercenary / But I never leave my post when the cash runs out,” frontman Brendon Urie sings on this fast-paced tune.

For those not up on the lingo, a mercenary is someone who works merely for money or reward. (We don’t think Batman ever scored a paycheck for his services to Gotham, but you never know! Maybe there was a tip jar outside the Bat Cave?)

Additionally, the dialogue during the breakdown (”How does it feel to stand on the very stones that ran with your parents’ blood?”) comes directly from the actual game, as supervillain Hugo Strange speaks to Batman.

If you dig “Mercenary,” you can grab the embeddable player over at PureVolume.

Batman: Arkham City – The Album drops October 4, two weeks before the release of the video game. Pre-order the album on iTunes. Panic! At The Disco’s third LP, Vices & Virtues, is out now. And you can catch them on the road this Fall with Patrick Stump.

UK: Films With Smoking Should Get Automatic Adult Rating

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Films that depict actors smoking should be handed an automatic 18 certificate, according to research published by the Thorax, a medical journal co-owned by the British Thoracic Society.

The report, produced by researchers from the UK Centre for Tobacco Control Studies, called for movies that feature smoking to attract a similar age classification to those that portray sex or violence. Their study of more than 5,000 adolescents found that 15-year-olds who saw the most films showing actors smoking were 73% more likely to have tried it than those who had seen the fewest.

Dr Andrea Waylen, from the University of Bristol's school of oral and dental sciences, said: "More than half the films shown in the UK that contain smoking are rated 15 or below, so children and young teenagers are clearly exposed.

"Our results confirm an association between this exposure and youth smoking in this country, indicating that raising the certification to 18 in the UK is likely to lower smoking rates among youth.

"Given that smoking depictions in films are not consistent with the ban on smoking in public places in the UK and that the relationship may be causal, a precautionary principle should be pursued. Films ought to be rated by exposure to smoking in the same way that they are currently rated by level of violence."
