Vanessa Hudgens defends Sucker Punch costumes

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Vanessa Hudgens is adamant she had no qualms about showing off her body in new movie Sucker Punch following harsh criticism of the female cast's revealing costumes.

Hudgens stars alongside Emily Browning and Abbie Cornish in the Zack Snyder movie, which tells the story of a young woman who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

A series of dream sequences reveal the hospital as a brothel filled with scantily-dressed dancers and the actresses' saucy outfits prompted criticism of the film's erotic undertones, with a writer for movie magazine Variety branding it "fantasy fodder for 13-year-old guys" and claiming the female cast dressed in "demeaning fetish gear".

But Hudgens insists she felt empowered by stripping off, as she was able to show off her toned figure.

She tells the Los Angeles Times, "I was in the best shape of my life, so why not? The woman's body is a beautiful thing. There's no reason why we shouldn't, like, be our best in our costumes."

The actress is also adamant she would never agree to do anything onscreen that she didn't feel comfortable with, adding, "A lot of women get walked all over on (sic) by not standing up for themselves, and that's just not what I'm about. I'm figuring myself out now as a young adult more than I ever have. It's like my eyes are opening and I'm awakening to controlling my future."

Jerry Lawson, video game pioneer dead at age 70.

image via The Mercury News

SAN FRANCISCO—Gerald A. "Jerry" Lawson, an EE best known for his work designing Fairchild Semiconductor's Channel F video game counsel, died Saturday (April 9) at the age of 70, according to a family friend.

According to a posting on Wikipedia, Lawson was chief hardware engineer and director of engineering and marketing for Fairchild's video game division. He also founded and ran Videosoft, a video game development company which made software for the Atari 2600 in the early 1980s, according to the posting.

Lawson also produced one of the earliest arcade games, Demolition Derby, which debuted in a Southern California pizzeria shortly after Pong, according to the Wikipedia posting. He later worked with the Stanford mentor program and was preparing to write a book on his career, according to the posting.

David Erhart, a family friend who had known Lawson for about 10 years, posted the news on the Digital Press video game database site Monday. Ederhart said that Lawson's health had been in decline for several years due to complications from diabetes. He had lost an eye on part of one leg because of these complications, Erhart said. The cause of his death was "basically a heart attack," Erhart said.

Lawson leaves behind a wife and two grown children, according to Erhart.

"He was an amazing guy," Erhart said. "He had so much energy and just an infinite number of stories about the old days."

Erhart said Lawson remained true to his passion for engineering until the end, constantly tinkering with circuit boards. In his later years he developed a keen interest in laser technology, Erhart said. Erhart was supposed to have attended a HAM radio swap meet with Lawson at a local college on Saturday, he said, but Lawson had been hospitalized in the middle of last week.

Last month, Lawson was profiled by the San Jose Mercury News and honored by the International Game Developers Association for his pioneering contributions to gaming.

According to the Wikipedia posting, Lawson was born in December 1940 in Queens, N.Y. He was living in Santa Clara, Calif., at the time of his death, according to the posting.

Erhart said a memorial service for Lawson is being planned and that it would probably take place some time next month.

I'm glad that he was honored by the IGDA last month.

Jeremy Irons talks about his castle. Yes... he has one.

Oscar winner Jeremy Irons is celebrating the end of restoration work on his Irish castle after a decade-long battle to preserve the ancient building.

The actor bought 15th century Kilcoe Castle at the end of the last century and has spent all his spare time revamping the old building ever since.

He admits it was a labour of love, but it wasn't always an easy job.

He tells Parade magazine, "Renovating scared the wits off me. I didn't know what it was going to cost or how long it would take, or that I'd manage to do it. People were sort of surprised, 'cause they think I'm an extremely wealthy actor. They thought, 'You'll get architects in, you'll get builders, and they'll do it.' But I didn't want to do it that way. I wanted to be as hands-on as I could."

And Irons admits he's glad he dismissed initial ideas to modernise the castle - because they would have ruined the old place.

He adds, "I didn't put a lift (elevator) in. The purist inside me said, 'You've got to earn that height. If you want to get up there, you've got to walk.'

"I'm sort of glad about that, even though when I'm 80 I may be cursing that decision."

He has a castle?? Of course he does!

Mark Sanchez talks about the rumor about him and Eliza Kruger and Hayden Panettiere

What did you make of the media reaction to your rumored romance with a New York City teen (Eliza Kruger)? Were you affected by that? You seemed to lay low for awhile? Did it bum you out?

“You know it’s just one of those things that it’s an internet deal and I mean you know this very well being in the media. I’m playing in New York. One of the biggest cities in the country and you’re going to get scrutiny on-and-off the field, no matter what you do. You know you just gotta be smart about who you hang out with and it’s not even worth talking about at this point anymore. It’s a few months old. It’s just that’s the nature of gossip in the city. I mean that’s kind of the way things go and it’s…you know this better than anybody. I mean people embellish stories, fabricate stories, to try to drive traffic to their website, to try and get people to start talking about their publication. It didn’t bother me. It was just too bad that somebody had to go do stuff like that, but it’s a probably a great lesson about playing in New York and being in the spotlight. You know you learn from those things. Just I think yesterday they were talking… somebody told me about me hanging out with Hayden Panettiere. I was like yeah okay let’s be smart here. She’s got a boyfriend. Her family is like all Jets fans. She’s from New York, so we have some mutual friends. She knows one of my best friends Scotty [McKnight].”

Dolly Parton wants Lady Gaga Duet

Dolly Parton has revealed that she would love to work with Lady GaGa in the future.

The singer told E! Online that she was impressed with the country remix of GaGa's 'Born This Way', and feels a collaboration could be a good idea.

She joked: "I think it's great. It's just wonderful. I love her. Maybe we should do something together - GooGoo and Gaga! You know those GooGoo candy bars in Nashville? I could be Lady GooGoo."

Parton also spoke about working with Queen Latifah for the film Joyful Noise, set for release in 2012.

The film revolves around a national choir competition, starring Parton and Latifah in the lead roles. The 65-year-old said: "I wrote four of the numbers.

"There are a couple we got to do together. There's a lot of great music in the movie."

Parton announced details of her latest single last month.

'Hanna' Sequel: Saoirse Ronan Would 'Love' To Do It, And She'd Set It... In Space?

Did you take my advice and check out "Hanna" over the weekend? Something tells me that a bunch of you did. Although it wasn't the number one movie at the box-office, it managed to beat Russell Brand's "Arthur" for second place. In other words, "Hanna" may have just missed the box-office's heart, but she was certainly close to the mark.

So, let's review: a successful opening weekend for a character that, in my opinion, has tons of franchise potential — could it be long before we hear official talk of a sequel? When I spoke with leading lady Saoirse Ronan last week, I put the question to her — and unsurprisingly, it wasn't the first time she'd been asked about sequels.

Legend calling out to another legend

Celine Dion has urged pop stars Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue to follow her lead and take on a Las Vegas residency - because she’s enjoyed her stint on the Sin City stage so much.

Both stars are rumoured to be in talks for spectacular shows in the Nevada gambling Mecca, and the Aussie singer - currently on tour with her Aphrodite Les Folies trek - recently declared, “I’ve got my Las Vegas show right here. We’ve been talking about it so if I do a residency I definitely have the show for it.”

And stage veteran Dion, who is wowing critics with her latest Vegas residency, has told her fellow chart stars to “go for it” if they are offered a performance contract.

She tells Britain’s Daily Star, “If Britney and Kylie want to come to Vegas and do a residency like me, I say go for it. Vegas is changing. There is room for everyone - new singers and older ones."

“When I first came here in 2003, people said my career was over. I’m here because I love singing, and this allows me to be with my family.”

Celine promised: “I will definitely tour again, so you will see me in the UK. The energy on tour is totally different. It’s more rock ’n’ roll.”

Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant could get their happy ending

British actor Hugh Grant may end up being Liz Hurley's knight in shining armour after all.

Liz, 45, and Hugh, 50, who previously dated for 13 years, stayed good friends after their split but now it seems like they could grow old together.

Liz told British Hello! magazine: 'We've often said, if all else fails, we'll end up living together like Darby and Joan.'

Hurley, who filed for divorce from Arun Nayar last month, added: 'We are currently taking cooking, Italian and guitar lessons together and argue ferociously over who is more advanced.'

She continued: 'I completely consider him one of my family and love spending time with him, even though we annoy each other at times.

'We rarely get through a day without fighting, but we always end up laughing.

'Damian adores his godfather and Hugh is great with him.'

Whoa, when did Winnie Cooper get those?

Actress Danica McKellar is spotted on the set of her new indie comedy Mancation at The Merion ballroom in Cinnaminson, New Jersey last week (April 7). Also spotted on set were *NSYNC-star-turned-actor Joey Fatone, Mike Starr, and Sarah Vandella. Check out all the pics in the gallery. In the film, directed by Frank Vain, Danica plays the unrequited love interested of the main character, whose wife leaves him.

Danica told the Philadelphia Enquirer this morning that she loves being recognized as Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years, even almost 20 years after the show ended:

“That show and that character were so loved. I’m really grateful to have been a part of that. Not everybody is recognized for that. You can have a character that was goofy. Steve Urkel, I mean Jaleel White, he’s changed his whole appearance. He’s sick of people doing Steve Urkel imitations.”

This is a Facts of Life post!

You don’t have to wait until Sunday to catch a glimpse of the Facts of Life cast reunion at the TV Land Awards (airing April 17, at 9 p.m. ET). Good Morning America caught up with the ladies backstage at last weekend’s taping, and amidst Cynthia McFadden’s sitdown chat, we see footage of them accepting their Pop Culture Award — and of 84-year-old Charlotte Rae, aka Mrs. Garrett, giving the evening’s other honorees some material to work with in their speeches. “I’m so proud of my girls,” Rae says. “They all turned out to be straight. Straight!” (Of course, she meant that they all grew up well.)

Watch the interview below. There’s some interesting nuggets: Kim Fields admits she owes her casting as Tootie to those roller skates — she was small for her age, 9, and they gave her some height. Lisa Whelchel talks about the pain of being sent to “fat farms” and how happy she was when producers finally allowed her — and all the girls — to look like normal teens. We learn Blair was supposed to lose her virginity on the show, but Whelchel refused, and Mindy Cohn (Natalie) stepped up because “please, somebody’s gotta do somethin’ at this point.” (It was the series’ highest-rated episode.) And Geri Jewell claims she didn’t know how to spell cerebral palsy until she had to wear that T-shirt that said, “I don’t have cerebral palsy I’m drunk.”

White Rocker Guy Who Won Idol, No the Other One, No the Other OTHER One, Yeah that One, Covers Adele

Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” is quickly becoming the song to cover. Along with the thousands of YouTube covers from amateurs, John Legend took us to church with his gospel-meets-soul version, and now it’s David Cook‘s turn to offer his take.

With his guitar in hand and his band backing him, the American Idol champ put his bluesy-rock stamp on the tune at a concert he played over the weekend.

David’s rendition was nice — very true to the original, which is a little bit disappointing considering we still can’t get his remixed version of Mariah Carey‘s “Always Be My Baby” off our minds all these years later.

Director Jon Cassar Sets the Record Straight on 'The Kennedys' to TV Squad

Jon Cassar, director and producer of seasons 1–7 of '24,' took on a new beast when he wrangled the miniseries 'The Kennedys' onto prime time as director. Inherently contentious and polarizing, documenting the Kennedy family for TV was bound to be a button-pusher and divider of critics. 'The Kennedys' did just that; TV pundits fall on one side of the fence or the other, and viewers either love it or hate it.

AOL Television caught up with Cassar to set the record straight about numerous rumors dogging the production and presentation of 'The Kennedys,' from the allegedly doctored viewer numbers to why the History Channel pulled out at the last minute.

‘Glee’ and ‘Sons of Anarchy’ Have Most Involved Viewers, ‘Mentalist’, ‘Good Wife’ Least

According to a new study released by ListenLogic, a social media intelligence firm, ‘Glee’ and ‘Sons of Anarchy’ top list of shows with most involved viewers, while ‘The Mentalist’ and ‘The Good Wife’ come up short. By measuring social media conversations, ListenLogic’s new television rating system, the Involved Viewer Ratings™, adds viewer engagement levels to traditional TV ratings and provides a more robust measurement of audience involvement.

“Social and mobile connectivity have completely changed the way viewers engage with TV shows,” said Mark Langsfeld, Founder & CEO of ListenLogic. “Viewers are expressing their passions for TV programming like never before, while they’re watching the show. We’re using these unsolicited conversations to tap into a deeper level of viewer involvement and augment traditional TV ratings.“

With over 70 million smartphone users in the US and nearly 80% of US online consumers regularly engaging in social media, many viewers are interacting with TV programming concurrently as they watch. Recent research shows that 86% of smartphone users are accessing their device while watching television shows. It is expected that this social TV trend will continue as companies such as Motorola and Google launch enhanced TV companion services with social networking capabilities.

Separated at birth? Not quite, but if Lindsay Lohan wants to play Victoria Gotti in an upcoming film about the famous family, Gotti: Three Generations, the actress certainly looked the part. Rumors have been circulating that Lohan, 24, is gunning for the role, and her appearance at a press event Tuesday in New York did noting to dispel chatter.

"Lindsay is a terrific actress," said Marc Fiore, the movie's producer, at the event at the Sheraton Hotel, "Nothing has been finalized, but we are definitely in talks."

And while Lohan hasn't locked down the role, Victoria Gotti is a fan.

"I think she's incredible," Gotti said. "I think she's a great actress. I think she can do ... any role, really."

"I think that whole trial stuff is all nonsense. I think someone's looking for a lot of PR and certainly getting it," she said. "But I think she's shining. I think people are starting to see now sympathetically...and I think it's working for her and I love the fact that she doesn't care. She's not letting it bother her."

"I think she's tough," she added. "I think she can fall down, pick herself back up."

"I know first hand that Lindsay Lohan happens to be a big fan of mine," Travolta said at the event. "I've always thought she was gorgeous and talented and filled with a lot of depth. So, I think that whatever she would like to do would be great with me."

What Happened On the Season Finale of 'All About Aubrey?'

Aubrey O'Day was thrilled to be reunited with Danity Kane pal Aundrea Fimbres to record a new single - but the new venture crashed and burned leaving the singer in meltdown mode. The friends got together in the studio on the series finale of Oxygen TV's "All About Aubrey" to help boost O'Day's new solo career.

They had become firm friends in 2005 during MTV's "Making The Band," which documented rap mogul Diddy's big search for a new girl group. But their dreams were shattered when the band, Danity Kane, fell apart only a few years later.

O'Day, a 27-year-old Playboy model, endured a very public split with her mentor Diddy and hasn't been shy about sharing her struggles with getting a new recording contract during her reality TV show.

"I may not be able to bring Danity Kane back," she told viewers. "But Aubrey and Aundrea aren't going anywhere. I love every minute I spend with her in the studio. It may not be Danity Kane but it is the best of Danity Kane."

However, Aundrea pulled out of a scheduled appearance at the last moment leaving her drama queen pal in the lurch and sending her into an emotional crisis.

"She feels she no longer wants to be an artist," Aubrey told viewers. "She changed her mind and quit. She left me out to dry. We have Danity Kane fans coming from all around the country."

You don’t need to be Ashton Kutcher and/or Demi Moore to find sex trafficking repugnant. You don’t even need to be famous at all. You do, however, need to be acquainted with the A list star in one of the series of befuddling videos produced by Mr. and Mrs. Kutcher that aim to … um … teach us that sex trafficking is bad, I’m gonna guess?

Check Out Tina Fey's Baby Bump!

Liz Lemon's got a not-so-little bump in a little black dress!

A beaming Tina Fey debuted her pregnancy curves while exiting the NYC studios of The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday night.

During a taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show last Wednesday, the 30 Rock star, 40, announced that she's expecting her second child with composer hubby Jeff Richmond.

The baby-to-be (due in late summer) will join big sister Alice, 5.

"I thought that raising an only child would be the norm in Manhattan, but my daughter is the only child in her class without a sibling," Fey wrote about having another little one in her memoir Bossypants. "Most kids have at least two."

"Who will be my daughter's family when my husband and I are dead from stress-induced cankers?" she said. "She must have a sibling."

The Devil In Miss Jones

Although she was named after January Wayne, the prototypical Seventies heroine of Jacqueline Susann’s Once Is Not Enough, January Jones projects the cool but complicated leading ladies (Deneuve!) of the Sixties: gorgeous but mysterious. Beauty has its own undeniable power, and the 33-year-old Jones uses her looks to seduce and agitate. Her portrayal of Betty Draper on Mad Men, the ultimate trophy housewife, is complex and disturbing. Betty could have been just a lovely, lonely clotheshorse with social aspirations, but Jones imbues the character with a mix of barely stifled rage and longing. Similarly, Emma Frost, Jones’s character in X-Men: First Class, is much darker than her pure-white ensembles. Frost can read minds and transform into a diamond: a diabolical and alluring combination. “Emma Frost was not in the earlier X-Men movies, so I wanted to make her true to the way she is in the comic books. I’m one of the most powerful mutants,” Jones said, laughing. “It’s fun to imagine what life would be like as a diamond."

Film - The Old Guard

Daniel Sunjata joins "The Dark Knight Rises" as...someone.

Casting has been the thing for Christopher Nolan over the past few weeks. After locking down all of the lead roles in his highly anticipated third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, with actors like Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard, Nolan has recently been concentrating on the smaller roles. He’s cast Juno Temple, most likely as Selina Kyle’s sidekick, and Josh Pence probably as a young Ra’s Al Ghul. The Tracking Board now reports that Daniel Sunjata, best known for his role on "Rescue Me," has joined the film in a yet-to-be-announced capacity.

According to The Tracking Board, Sunjata is “rumored to play an ‘important character to the story.’” Thanks for that wealth of information.

The Pretty Reckless debut 'Light Me Up'

New York Post
"Light Me Up"
3 Stars

Not since Saint Joan of Jett first grabbed a guitar has hard rock sounded this sexy. The Pretty Reckless, a quartet fronted by soon-to-be-18-year-old "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen, is going to face a sea of skepticism, yet their debut record, "Light Me Up," is remarkably good.
The blond actress/model, who co-wrote all the songs, is a talented rock singer rather than just a wannabe star. Her snarly, deep voice gives her a just-right swagger, and sounds natural against the pedal-to-the-metal headbanging of her band.

Taylor Momsen will win over skeptics.
Melodically, Momsen is a bit Tori Amos, and vocally, Fiona Apple. It's a great combo that gels on the fast rockers such as "My Medicine" and "Miss Nothing." Momsen and company are less effective when she gently coos through a ballad such as "Nothing Left To Lose."

Evan Rachel Wood wants to be a 16-year-old boy

We won't pretend to make sense of it. We'll just put it out into the world and let you guys try and understand how Evan Rachel Wood, who was once engaged to Marilyn "I Wanna Use You And Abuse You" Manson, is a diehard Justin Bieber fan.

"I'm not ashamed to say it, I saw 'Never Say Never,' and I totally have Bieber Fever," the 23-year-old actress told MTV News while promoting "The Conspirator." "It doesn't make any sense to me. I was the last person on earth who would ever be a Bieber fan. But I'm telling you, he got me."

So what's the appeal of a kid who hauls lonely girls up onto the stage during concerts, rather than, like Manson, being accused of humping a security guard at one of his? "Those bangs! Come on!" she laughed.

But it's not just Bieber's famous locks, which, after all, he recently chopped off. ERW is also enamored of the "fact that he's the most confident human being I've ever seen," she said. "It doesn't matter what he's doing, he just believes it 100 percent. And I had no idea he was so musically gifted and could play all these instruments and is kind of incredible in that way."

OK, so now that we've established Evan Rachel is deep in the throes of a Bieber-induced fever dream, let's draw a line somewhere. "I'm not in love with him, I want to be him," she explained. "I want to be that 16-year-old boy dancing on stage."

Movieline suggests 5 Guidelines for Hitchcock remake

Dear Hollywood: If you must remake To Catch a Thief, consider these 5 guidelines

Maybe it’s a sign of the times. When I first read the headline about the To Catch a Thief remake, my first thought wasn’t, “You bastards!” but instead, “At least it’s not Vertigo!” This reaction may have less to do with supporting the remake, and more to do with selectively choosing which completely futile mental battles I wage against remake announcements, but still! Since this movie is probably still several rewrites away from production, I’d like to suggest a few simple guidelines to follow in order to avoid completely ruining everything that made the original work.

Five Reasons It’s Time to Pull the Plug on House

The return of Olivia Wilde's Thirteen on last night's episode of House could have marked a creative resurgence for the show, but instead, it just highlighted that it's run its course: Nothing really matters on House. Nothing sticks, and nothing is ever at stake. Once upon a time, House was great. But seven seasons and 150 episodes later, the beating heart of the show has flatlined. House hasn't been renewed yet, owing to fraught contract negotiations between Fox and NBC Universal, but since it's Fox's most popular drama it's a pretty safe bet that it'll be back. Alas. Here are five reasons that, ratings be damned, it would be better if the show called it quits.

Jane Curtin talks about the misogyny at SNL on Oprah

Oprah Winfrey broke her long streak of reruns today, hosting a handful of former SNL-ers, including Tina Fey,Tracy Morgan, Dana Carvey, Chevy Chase, and Jane Curtin. Each got their sappy moment with O, discussing their favorite sketches and giggling about their common fear of show creator Lorne Michaels. But when the topic turned to women in the SNL writers' room, Curtin got serious, describing a generally misogynistic tone at the show during the early years, especially coming from John Belushi. "[John] said, 'Women are just fundamentally not funny,'" she recalled. "He felt as though it was his duty to sabotage pieces that were written by women." This seemed to really upset Tracy Morgan, who jumped in, shouting, "Tina Fey put me on!" SNL, you've come a long way, baby.

Lauren Conrad: "I'm Not a Sexy Person"

Plenty of men might beg to differ with what Lauren Conrad tells May's Allure Magazine.

"I'm not a sexy person," The Hills star, 25, said. "I'm OK with it. I've never been the sexy girl. Whenever I've had a boyfriend, he's always been like, 'Oh, you're cute.'"

But LC admits there have been plenty of times she doesn't even feel cute, especially when it comes to stories about her fluctuating weight.

"You're the first person to notice any weight gain or loss, and then to have it pointed out can be embarrassing," she says. "You have two good angles and a hundred bad ones. I've seen photos of myself and cringed, 'Oh, God, I can never wear those pants again!'"

Scarlett Johansson is Not Pregnant

A representative for Scarlett Johansson has denied speculation that the actress is pregnant.

Photos of Johansson jogging with Sean Penn in Malibu on Sunday surfaced online over the weekend. The photos seemed to show something bulging under Johansson's shirt, leading some to report that the actress was sporting a baby bump.

However, the Avengers star is not expecting a baby, her rep tells Us magazine.

"Scarlett is not pregnant. She's outside running and it's simply the placement of her shirt that is misleading," the rep added in a statement.

The statement continued: "She's been training for The Avengers for over four months and is in the best shape of her life."

Penn and Johansson have reportedly been dating since early this year.

Johansson announced her divorce from actor Ryan Reynolds last December after two years of marriage, while Penn split from former wife Robin Wright in 2009.

"As members of a pluralistic and complex society, we must have free access to a diverse range of viewpoints on the human condition in order to foster critical thinking and understanding. We must protect one of the most precious of our fundamental rights – the freedom to read."

Shirley Maclaine Admits To Banging Three Men In One Day

The veteran actress' new book is titled 'I'm Over All That: And Other Confessions' and she revealed the secrets of her sex life on Monday's show. After admitting to have had "an awful lot of lovers", MacLaine said, "I wasn't into sexcapades, although I tried it once. I had three people in one day. It was on a political campaign, where everybody was doing the same thing and I just didn't wanna be left out. It was not my style at all, I'm a serial monogamist". The actress, best known for her role in 'The Turning Point', was married to the businessman Steve Parker for 30 years before splitting in 1982. The actress says she wasn't fond of marriage and had a "special agreement" with her husband, saying, "I had affairs and so did he, but we were very good friends. I loved the freedom and so did he. I've had an awful lot of lovers ... and a lot of awful lovers".

Despite often falling for her "leading man", Shirley Maclaine admitted that there were several A-listers that did nothing for her. The 76-year-old said Jack Lemmon was apparently "too nice for her taste" and that Jack Nicholson was "too much".

In Doctor Who, he successfully tackled alien menaces from Daleks to giant wasps. But when David Tennant was faced with dismantling his newborn daughter’s pushchair, it was a somewhat different story.

Retro Post: Celebs in 90s FMVs to be the new hot Memes?

A recent visit to Jeff Goldblum’s Wikipedia entry unearthed what initially appeared to be vandalization of his page’s filmography: a dubious and conspicuously silly credit as the voice of Dracula in a 1996 video game titled Goosebumps: Escape From HorrorLand. I thought for sure that it was someone’s idea of a laugh and a successful one at that. Yes, in the 1990s, R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps series spawned a commercial empire that branded every conceivable item that a child might demand from a parent, so a video game was certainly plausible. But with Jeff Goldblum? I smelled a Rickroll. Logic said that this Wikipedia claim couldn’t exist because if it did exist, there would be a wildly popular viral video in existence, making Count Goldblum synonymous with the word “slumming.” There was no way that something like this could escape the notice of the all-seeing, all-hearing, all-remembering Internet.

FOX News outcry over J-Crew 'gender identity' advertisement

A J Crew ad featuring fashion designer Jenna Lyons painting her son's toenails pink because it is his favorite color has wingnuts on full alert, according to FOX News:

“This is a dramatic example of the way that our culture is being encouraged to abandon all trappings of gender identity,” psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow wrote in a FoxNews.com Health column about the ad.

Media Research Center’s Erin Brown agreed, calling the ad “blatant propaganda celebrating transgendered children.” “Not only is Beckett likely to change his favorite color as early as tomorrow, Jenna's indulgence (or encouragement) could make life hard for the boy in the future,” Brown wrote in an opinion piece Friday.

"J.CREW, known for its tasteful and modest clothing, apparently does not mind exploiting Beckett behind the facade of liberal, transgendered identity politics.”

J Crew declined to comment.
