Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps in The Woman in Black
Daniel Radcliffe looks scared.
Breathing deeply through his nose in laboured bouts, the camera records his frightened reaction as his saucer-round blue eyes go wide at the sight of something terrifying on the other side of the lens that's enough to make him dash out of the room.
After fighting so many formidable creatures in his 10-year-long adventure as Harry Potter, what could possibly have the world-famous boy wizard shaking in his Brogues?
That would be the woman in black, the haunting specter at the centre of his first post-Potter movie, a 19th century gothic thriller in which he plays Arthur Kipps, a 24-year-old lawyer and father, representing a leap forward after a decade as Hogwarts' most famous student. Though Radcliffe is eager to show he's got range, he's careful not to give the impression that Harry Potter has been anything but the role of a lifetime.
"I'm very proud of the films and I owe everything to them. But it's certainly about making people see that I want to move forward [and have] a career that is beyond one character and hopefully goes into the future," he told Cineplex while on the London, England set of The Woman in Black.
"You know, it is weird but when it's become such a part of your life, it feels almost the same as saying goodbye to your teenage years and it is very sad but it is also an inevitability. And yeah, while I had an amazing time, ten years is enough to spend with one character. I loved every second of it but I'm excited about moving on more than scared or upset."

Having recently received praise as the voice of Rapunzel in Disney's 'Tangled', the soft-rock pop star Mandy Moore has secured an unlikely role in the directorial debut of 'Buried' screenwriter Chris Sparling.
Variety reports Moore is set to play the lead alongside Rodrigo Santoro (Che, Love Actually) in the supernatural drama 'Falling Slowly' which will be produced by Julie Snyder (Tanner Hall) and should film this year.
Falling Slowly is set to feature the familiar trope of a couple whose new home is possessed and will likely be a low-budget production, though clearly more then the $2 million it cost to make 'Buried'!

I know everyone's sick of the Charlie Sheen news, but this is definitely worth checking out.
Virtual currencies were all the rage for about five minutes a couple of years ago, when people still thought flying around naked in Second Life was cool and were actively trading in that virtual world’s currency, called “Lindens”. That craze died out pretty quickly, though I guess people still trade gold on World of Warcraft, but now virtual currencies may be on the verge of making a comeback in a big way, thanks to Warner Bros. and Facebook.
If you’re one of those people addicted to Facebook games you probably know about “Facebook credits”, the all-encompassing website's virtual currency which no one really pays any attention to because there’s nothing really all that useful you can do with it. Most Facebook apps are free and the ones that aren’t will probably just destroy your life by forcing you to spend all your time farming non-existent radishes. But WB has just announced a new use for Facebook credits: Buying movies.
WB’s Home Entertainment division tells us that they’re launching a video on demand service through Facebook. You’ll be able to actually purchase or rent, and then watch their movies right on the social networking hub. They won’t be free, of course. Instead WB plans to charge rental fees using Facebook Credits as a currency. Facebook credits are purchased using real money so it’s basically the same thing as giving them your wallet but I guess it’s supposed to feel more Zuckerbergy that way.
So now there’s actually something useful you can do with your Facebook credits, I guess. Though I’m not entirely sure why anyone would want to watch video of any kind on Facebook, let alone an entire movie. It’s not like their player is particularly HD friendly. Warner Bros. makes no mention of any upgrades to the standard Facebook player or any sort of special video player to be used on their films. In a world where I have Netflix Instant Watch on my television, I’m not sure this is really a good move for consumers, I’d rather see WB make more of an effort to put their movies on a quality streaming service like Netflix or Hulu than this. Hopefully this doesn’t prevent them from pushing their movies out on better Instant Watch services where they belong.
To find out exactly how this works, you can try the whole thing out right now. They’re launching the new service using The Dark Knight as their flagship rental. In theory if you go here and give Warner Bros. those extra Facebook credits you have lying around, they’ll let you start watching The Dark Knight right now.
However, our anticipation was put on hold when GossipCop was quick to squash any rumors of a romance. Supposedly a friend of the actor's told the media outlet: "This is not true." He added that Franco and Deyn had only exchanged hellos at the event and that was about it. No dating, no connection. Nada.
Well, it seems like that friend was wrong.
Last night, James was posting videos to his Twitter account of himself with an undeniable Agyness. So, they must be a bit more friendly than GossipCop's source led on. From the looks of it, they may be working on a project together—but they're definitely hanging out after hours, as well.
The short clips show the model and actor playfully chatting while on an afternoon drive. Check out the vid below for a glimpse of their flirty interactions.

It's not every day that actors like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson become as big as they have without changing at least a tiny bit.

The Tempest, which is due out in early March, tells the story of Prospera, the duchess of Milan, played by Dame Helen and her takeover of the island to which she was cast away by her brother Antonio.

The singer's boyfriend Matthew Rutler, 25, was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol last week - and passenger Christina was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public before being released.
Fortunately, the blonde diva has other ways of ridding herself of stress.

Beyonce Knowles has admitted she thought she would be "retired by 30".
The 29-year-old R&B sensation will hit the milestone age this September, and still has so much more she wants to achieve in her career.
The star has confessed she never thought she would be so ambitious though, and originally planned to quit working early on in life.
"This is really funny but when I was younger I thought I'd be retired by 30," laughed the star in an interview with the British edition of Cosmopolitan.
"Now I'm nearly there I can't believe how much more I want to do."
The beautiful star shot to fame in the 90s as the lead singer of girl band Destiny's Child. She has gone on to become one of the world's most successful female solo artists, with albums such as 2008's I Am... Sasha Fierce earning her numerous Grammy Awards.
She has also launched a movie career, with roles in films such as 2006 box-office smash Dreamgirls proving just how multi-talented she is.
"I never imagined I'd have as much success as I've had. I thought it would be great just to get a record out," she smiled.
"I never imagined the extent of what I've achieved. I never imagined the awards, the movies... I still can't believe it. I'm grateful for all of it and don't take it for granted. When I do something, I try and do it as well as I can."
In addition to her performing abilities, the songstress is fascinated by the human mind, and revealed that if she hadn't succeeded in showbiz she would have loved to explore that interest in more depth.
When asked what she would have been if she wasn't a singer, the star replied; "a psychiatrist".

Blaine and the Dalton Academy Warblers are releasing a Glee album of their own in April, a rep for the show confirms to TVGuide.com.
Darren Criss announced the news on Live with Regis and Kelly Monday morning.
So far this season, the Warblers have sung Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," Train's "Hey, Soul Sister," Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills," Robin Thicke's "When I Get You Alone" and Wings' "Silly Love Songs." In upcoming episodes — spoiler alert — they'll cover Neon Trees' "Animal" and Maroon 5's "Misery." During Regionals, they'll sing this underdog anthem by Pink.
The cover of "Teenage Dream" by Criss and the Warblers (voiced by real-life a cappella group the Beelzebubs from Tufts University) hit No. 8 on Billboard's Hot 100 in November.
Criss was made a series regular last year, and will go on tour with the cast this summer.
"It's fun being a Warbler," Criss, who also performed "Silly Love Songs," told the hosts. "It's kind of like being on our own little show. Everyone always asks me, 'How's the cast?' and they're lovely and I love the main kids at McKinley. But the fact is I actually spend most of my time away at another school, like we're in our own little TV show."

Eve Myles is spotted Monday on the set of the British sc-fi series Torchwood on location in Venice Beach, CA (Mar 7). Torchwood follows the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, a small team of alien-hunters.
The series has been a success since hitting British TV screens in 2006, moving from BBC Three to BBC Two to the flagship BBC One during its run. A fourth season co-produced by BBC and Starz titled Torchwood: Miracle Day will be shown in both the United Kingdom and United States in summer 2011 and will be set in Los Angeles.
Torchwood writer David Fay said the new series will have an American “feel” but keep the same tone: “Russell [T. Davies] and Julie Gardner remain in charge. [But] there are more American characters in it, so obviously it’ll probably feel more American.”

According to WWD, the collection of tummy-smoothing and bulge-concealing shapewear will include sleek, seamless-looking camis, tanks, half-slips, high-waisted briefs and leggings, all with sexy designs and lace detailing. “The line ranges from tank tops in black or beige to my signature color, red, which is a confidence color, and a little daring, but not white because it can make anyone look bigger,” Frankel tells WWD of the collection, which will go head to head with Real Housewives of New York frenemy Jill Zarin’s line of figure fixers Squeez. But Frankel’s collection includes much more than just panty-smoothing pieces: look for what she calls “lazy lingerie” and a sexy apron with a bra, which she claims is “a fun item with a little skirt you might wear for Valentine’s Day to wake up … and fix your husband breakfast in.” Items will sell for $20-$40 and be available mid-March on Skinnygirlshapers.com. "Experiencing those moments of being alone... is a very weird flooring and exposing position to be in when you're just not used to it," she says.
"But I've never been lonely," adds the star. "And with my kids...that remains the case. But to be in this place where I can say I really like this space. I really need to not have anyone around. It's a surprise to discover that I like being on my own."
Since Winslet’s breakup with her model beau Louis Dowler (they stepped out together in late summer 2010) in November, the Academy Award winner has been flying solo.

As the first rapper to star in the campaign, Flame urges the hip-hop community to consider the animals killed for fur coats, collars and cuffs.
"Understand where that fox fur came from before you spend $1,000 ... someone got their head beat in and electrocuted. Understand what you buy, instead of just going off fashion and what it look like," the rapper said.
Flame also spoke out against circuses, telling PETA, "I don't agree with that at all. That s**t is whack."

What are your thoughts on urging Evelyn to tell Tami about her affair with Kenny? That’s what precipitated their physical altercation. Do you feel like you started that fight?
I couldn’t start something I didn’t know. I didn’t know that about Evelyn. I didn’t know her in the days of Boston with Antoine playing. I didn’t meet Evelyn until he was traded to Miami. Before we brought Tami on the show, I talked to Evelyn and Jen, just to run it past them and to see if they knew her. It was kind of like, “I’ve heard of her,” no big deal. Since that was off camera and since we’re friends, that’s what I went off of. We taped the whole season and no one said anything to me about Kenny. When Evelyn finally told me [on this week's episode], it was so uncomfortable for me. I had a similar situation happen to me, and Tami just had spilled her guts about how she felt about all of us. She really seemed to have this bond with Evelyn. I felt awful, an immediate disgusting feeling. I figured that Tami probably thought we were the devil. She probably thought that because I’m friends with Evelyn and Jen, we had sat up there and held this secret from her. That’s not anything any woman wants to hear. I told Evelyn, “This should not have been held till now.”( Collapse )

Aubrey O'Day broke down in tears over her battle with her weight after being told she is 'looking a little hefty'.
With new show All About Aubrey, the star has allowed reality TV cameras to follow her as she tries to relaunch a music career after being 'fired' by Diddy from Danity Kane.
But the star, who called herself 'an emotional eater', admits to finding the pressure of looking skinny too tough to handle after her choreographer, Gil Duldulao tells her she is hefty and needs to lose '10 to 15 pounds'.
'I feel fat, I don't like it,' cried Aubrey, who Gil also made remove all her makeup against her wishes. 'I don't how I have to always be judged for my weight - I hate that. It's not easy to be anorexic all the time. I'm not anorexic - I don't look like that any more.
'I'm not 100 pounds anymore. I wasn't happy. I've been through a lot. I can't always live my life for everybody else.'
When earlier she had asked him if he 'didn't think it was cute to be a little thicker', Gil told her: 'Maybe in another country, honey.'

One of the most common complaints about Gossip Girl — and, in fact, just about every hot television show that features adults pretending to be teenagers — is that the writers pair off the main characters in every possible love permutation available to them. Because they’re only dealing with a finite number of primary cast members, if a show lasts more than a couple of years, eventually everyone will have dated everyone else.

Obama may be losing the faith of a famous and charismatic supporter ahead of the 2012 elections.
Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon campaigned for Obama in 2008, but he recently offered some some harsh criticism of the president's economic approach. During the interview rounds promoting his latest film, "The Adjustment Bureau," Damon took aim at the White House's approach to big banks.
"I think he's rolled over to Wall Street completely. The economy has huge problems. We still have all these banks that are too big to fail. They're bigger and making more money than ever," Damon said in an interview with the U.K.'s Independent.
Damon also zeroed in on the Bush tax Cuts that Obama recently extended, a move which has been met with significant criticism. However, when The Independent inquired whether he'd be voting Republican in 2012, Damon was emphatic.
"Good God, no! I just got a 3 percent tax cut," Damon seemed to joke.
Last week, in an interview on "Piers Morgan Tonight," Damon criticized Obama's educational policy.
"I really think he misinterpreted his mandate. A friend of mine said to me the other day, I thought it was a great line, 'I no longer hope for audacity,'" Damon said. "He's doubled down on a lot of things, going back to education... the idea that we're testing kids and we're tying teachers salaries to how kids are performing on tests, that kind of mechanized thinking has nothing to do with higher order. We're training them, not teaching them."

Charlie Sheen has signed a deal with Live Nation.
The actor -- who was fired from sitcom 'Two and a Half Men' on Monday because of his recent wild behaviour -- has agreed a merchandising and licensing contract with the concert promoters and while one day it may include a live tour, the company will now be focusing on producing Charlie memorabilia.
Joey Scoleri, Live Nation's Senior VP for Tour Marketing & Promotion, told E! News: "Being fired has only made him more popular because he is standing up for himself. He is a folk hero.
"We're hoping to have some of the items for sale as soon as next week. It's all coming together really quickly. He's got a lot of brilliant ideas."
The range of merchandise will include mugs, T-shirts and badges with some of Charlie's most famous sayings, such as 'winning', emblazoned on them.
Charlie -- who was pictured on the roof of the Live Nation offices waving a machete -- impressed bosses with his ideas for the future.
A source said: "He wants to connect personally with his fans and getting out there on a tour and seeing people in person really appeals to him."
Meanwhile, Charlie will carry on getting paid by 'Two and a Half Men' even if he is replaced by another actor.
The 45-year-old star has a clause in his contract which states he will get paid as long as the show is in production, but Warner Bros. - who produce the series - claim he was in breach of his contract when they sacked him so they don't have to fulfill the clause.
Producers are yet to decide what will happen to the show, in which Charlie earned US$2 million an episode.

McDonald's is no longer the world's largest restaurant chain. That honor now goes to Subway. The sandwich giant just passed the golden arches in terms of number of locations, according to the Wall Street Journal. Subway had 33,749 restaurants open worldwide at the end of 2010. McDonald's had just 32,737 locations open by the same point, the corporation disclosed in SEC filings. According to the WSJ, the chain just opened its 1000th location in Asia, and sees international growth as the future.
Subway, which opened its first international restaurant in 1984, in Bahrain, expects its number of international restaurants to exceed its domestic ones by 2020, says Don Fertman, Subway's Chief Development Officer. The chain currently has just over 24,000 restaurants in the U.S., where it generated $10.5 billion of its $15.2 billion in revenue last year.
The $5 dollar footlong did a lot to fuel Subway's recent growth, according to Bloomberg, and spending a large amount on advertising while rapidly opening shops using a franchise model similar to McDonald's has allowed them to grow quickly. But don't be surprised if McDonald's comes battling back. The fast-food giant also has a keen eye for international growth, and expansion in Asia, including India.
Tramp The Last Mile: Our Interview With Henry Rollins
Posted by Duffmano on Tuesday, March 08, 2011
The image of brown-eyed heavily muscled Henry Rollins as a screaming, glowering malcontent has persevered in the eyes of those who haven't been following his career as closely as they should have been. While others who have stood in his rarefied position now lie in a dung heap of spent force, he seems impossibly alive with more to talk about than ever before.

The rehabilitation of Aaron Eckhart: Battle: LA star learned the hard way that playing unattractive characters can be risky
Finally. On the eve of his 43rd birthday [March 12], Aaron Eckhart is emerging as an old-fashioned movie hero.
In fact, he even broke his arm during the making of Battle: LA, in which he plays an intrepid Marine sergeant - and soldiered on for the rest of the shooting day. What can be more heroic than that?
But there's something even more significant about Eckhart's full-blooded performance in the movie opening Friday. It's the fact that it marks a further chapter in his "rehabilitation."

Charlie Sheen is still ranting—but move over, Chuck Lorre, there's a new target.
The just-fired actor is now going after former costar Jon Cryer for not reaching out to him.
"Like I said: You're with me, or you're with the trolls," Sheen exclusively told E! News today. "Obviously he's with the trolls."

"What Would Stevie Do?"
In a recent radio interview, Stevie Nicks recalls her encounter with Lady Gaga at the 2010 Grammys.
"After the Grammy's - not this year's Grammy's but last years Grammys - I went to an after party.... Lady Gaga came up and sat right down next to me in her little statue of liberty outfit, and I have to say, she just looked stunningly beautiful.
She said to me, 'You know, sometimes when I'm working on something and I just don't know exactly what to do with it, I think "Well, what would Stevie do?"
And I thought that was the sweetest of all compliments to say that, because she's a writer and she loves to write. She loves to write, you know? That's always going to win out in the end, if you're a good writer, because a good song - a really great song - is going to push through no matter what."
Stevie also talks about her collaboration with Dave Stewart, finding her demos on YouTube, and her advice for young artists today.

Pete Wentz does NOT want his soon-to-be-ex wife Ashlee Simpson to get primary physical custody of their 2-year-old son Bronx -- as she's requested -- and now he's taking her on in court ... TMZ has learned.
Wentz just filed legal papers in response to Ashlee's divorce petition ... asking the judge for JOINT physical and legal custody of their son. In her divorce petition, Ashlee checked the box that indicated she wanted primary physical custody.
According to the docs, filed in L.A. County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ, Wentz also wants each party to pay their own legal fees ... even though Ashlee asked the court to make Pete foot the bill for both sides.
And while Ashlee didn't specify the official break-up date in her papers -- Pete says the two called it quits on Feb. 9 ... just days after Pete came home from a wife-less trip to Dallas for the Super Bowl.
I honestly don't care about either of them. I just always feel sorry for children in this situation :(
Starr appeared on the third season of "Celebrity Rehab" back in 2009 -- and was arrested last month for felony possession of a controlled substance. Salt Lake City cops say he had 6 Xanax pills and 6 Opana (painkiller) pills when he was busted.
Starr was 44 years old.
Mike's dad tells TMZ, "It's a terrible shock and tragedy."
UPDATE: Police tell us Starr's body was found in a Salt Lake City home today. Cops say they were called to the house at 1:42PM.
Oh no... :(
Sources on the set tell us Michaele was asked to leave because she has "no addiction," and thus had "no reason to be there."
Over the weekend we got Tareq Salahi out in Los Angeles who told us that Michaele's only addiction was "probably to chocolate."
Wouldn't you think the show would have figured that out before they cast her?
Maybe they also figured out she wasn't a celebrity....
Sometimes, it's best not to go looking too hard for the reasons behind Charlie Sheen's bizarre behavior. And other times, you can't help but do anything else. Especially when he decided to celebrate his firing yesterday by jumping on a roof and waving a machete around.
Trust us when we say this hurts us more than it will you, but it turns out, Sheen's sword-wielding escapade isn't as crazy as we first thought. Here's the deal...
First of all—and brace yourselves for the disappointment here—that wasn't Sheen's machete.
Instead, E! News exclusively learned, the prop is the prized possession of a Live Nation executive (on whose building Sheen engaged in the knife-robatics).
During a smoke break amid his merchandising meeting, Charlie started out doing nothing more harmless and uncrazy than give a simple wave to paparazzi. But sensing a Kodak moment in the works, the Live Nation exec ran into his office to retrieve the machete and then informed Sheen to give his best Che Guevara and wave it around for the cameras. The "Free at last!" freestyle, however, was all Charlie's idea.
"Charlie grabbed it and was like, 'Cool. Viva la revolución!'" a source said.
The action, needless to say, was a hit—not only with the paparazzi, but with Sheen himself, who immediately began telling people he wanted to get a similar sword for his "warlock arsenal." Of course he does.
"It was actually the most fun I had had on the show in a while," Penn dished about his latest on-screen romance. "It was something new for my character, and I was having fun with the rapport, and I think my dialogue benefited from it. It was actually a lot of fun to work with Leighton. I hadn’t much. We were like the only two who had never really interacted." (There needs to be a scene of Dair watching Drive-Thru together, critiquing it)

Kate Winslet has credited exercise with helping her to feel good about herself following her split from ex-husband Sam Mendes.
The actress - who divorced from the American Beauty director in 2010 after seven years of marriage - admitted that she engaged in more physical activity after becoming single in order to feel healthier for her two children.
"That's the main reason I took it up... But I do feel... I don't know... part of, I suppose, my way out of everything, has been really taking care of myself," she explained to Vogue.
"I think that comes from an awareness that my children really need me, and they need me to be the healthiest version of myself that I can possibly be."
She went on to say that she feels good about her place in life now, adding: "I actually keep saying it out loud. Last night I went out for a drink with two friends and, as we were walking, I said, 'God, you know, I feel so good'. Not in a, 'Wow! I feel so good!' way, but just in that quiet centred way. I'm almost surprised by it. I feel well, I feel healthy. I feel clear. I feel centred."
Ugh. I admit that I HATE to exercise but I feel like I have to do it.
Has Lady Gaga finally gone too far? (Need we even ask?) First she’s threatening to sue a London ice cream maker for naming his new flavor “Baby Gaga” (read all about that here) and now pop music’s favorite derivative princess is demanding that concert photographers sign over all copyright ownership to anything shot during one of her shows. Seriously?
According to a new article in Rolling Stone by Matthew Perpetua, photographer Jay Westcott of the Washington, D.C.-based website TBD.com was issued a release form by Camp Gaga stating that any and all photographs of her taken during a Monsters Ball performance become instant creative property of Lady Gaga. While this type of thing isn’t completely unheard of (Beastie Boys and the Foo Fighters issue similar release forms, Perpetua points out), it’s worth noting that there is a second release form that doesn’t force photographers to sign over rights to their work, intended for larger publications and websites with more clout. According to photographer and intellectual property lawyer David Atlas, “Typically the person who has the least leverage gets the worst release… Maybe there's a photographer that she likes who won't have to sign the release form, but the people who get paid $125 to hang out for four hours at a concert have to sign this release. So on top of getting paid very little, they have no ongoing revenue stream from these photos whatsoever.”

Chris Brown is involved in yet another scandal, this time over a racy new photo that the singer took himself with his camera phone.
The photo - a full-frontal shot of Brown in his birthday suit - was "leaked" onto the internet on Friday night. But the "Kiss Kiss" singer seems unfazed over it, leading many to wonder if he might have had something to do with it. After all, he's got a new album coming out in just over a week.
Late in February the release of a new set of photos of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna - taken shortly after he beat her back in February of 2009 - surfaced, leaving Brown furious and calling it a "strategic chess move" meant to hamper his reputation with the intent to cripple sales of his upcoming album, "F.A.M.E."
But this time the singer, who is making an effort to keep things positive, is taking it in stride.
The morning after the leak he took to hiw Twitter page and wrote, "Another day!! Another lesson! Another party!! I'm so thankful to have the support of my fans with my music!"
"F.A.M.E." hits stores March 22.

Knight tells Bieber, who he thinks has "a lot of talent" and is a "great singer," to be careful and "don't let all the fans really make you think that you're God," also reminding Justin Bieber to "have a lot of fun with" his success.
Justin Bieber is getting some advice on how to handle his fame from New Kids On The Block singer, Jordan Knight. Knight knows all about how fame can affect a young life, as in the late 1980's and early 1990's Jordan and NKOTB were beloved by millions. (Watch Jordan Knight's interview here)
Next in store for Jordan Knight is the highly anticipated NKOTBSB tour, which combines New Kids on The Block and Backstreet Boys, making it one big boy band extravaganza.
Jordan revealed the idea for the tour came about when New Kids on The Block invited the Backstreet Boys to a concert in New York. As NKOTB began to sing a BSB song, the curtain raised and the Backstreet Boys emerged in a cameo appearance. The fans loved it so much, the NKOTBSB tour was later born, he tells PopEater.

Kate Winslet Says Leonardo DiCaprio is Her 'Rock'
The Oscar winner accepts many friendships between men and women begin with a sexual undercurrent but with her and Leonardo it’s always been platonic and based on mutual respect and shared experiences. She told Vogue magazine: “He knows me better than anyone else in the world. Lots of male friendships begin as a cheeky snog. Or a little undercurrent of flirtation. But Leo and I? No. He’s my rock.
“I don’t know what the f--k I would have done if I hadn’t had him.”
Leonardo believes the pair are so close because they have “grown up together” and always been there for each other.
He said: “We literally grew up together. And in every major life event we’ve been there as a support mechanism for each other.”
Although Kate is appreciative of Leonardo’s friendship, she insists she can get by on her own because she is a “very strong” person thanks to her children Mia, 10 and Joe, seven.
She said: “I am very strong. When you have children, you have to be. I’m not a believer in hiding things from my kids because ultimately they are going to have questions – they feel things.”

The Tudors alumna Natalie Dormer is set as the female lead opposite Chris Egan in ABC's drama pilot Poe.
The project, from Warner Bros. TV and Lin Pictures, is a crime procedural following Edgar Allan Poe (Egan), the world’s very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.
Dormer, repped by ICM and U.K.'s United Agents, will play Celeste, a beautiful spitfire, with a firm moral center - the logical yin to Poe's wildly theoretical yang. She owns the newspaper for which Poe writes, having inherited it from her fiancé who died in mysterious circumstances.

For those not in the know, Duncan Jones is the director of recent much-loved cult sci-fi Moon, and so this, his follow-up, has been eagerly anticipated.
Another sci-fi, its premise revolves around Jake Gyllenhaal’s character, Colter Stevens, a soldier working as part of a high tech team investigating a terrorist bombing on a train. The catch - and this you don't get on South West Trains - is that he must endure the bombing again and again, as he’s thrown back eight minutes in time to relive the experience and find out exactly what happened and who's responsible.

Reese Witherspoon is backing a campaign to halt violence against women.
The 34-year-old actress - who has two children, 11-year-old daughter Ava and seven-year-old son Deacon, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe - is backing cosmetic firm Avon's new empowerment charm bracelet, which is being sold for £5 in the UK to raise funds for domestic violence charities Refuge, Women's Aid and Unifem and marks the centenary of International Women's Day today (08.03.11).

"The Avon Empowerment Bracelet is a simple, but powerful, way to raise funds to reduce violence against women.
"As a woman and as a mother, I urge you to join me on this very special anniversary of International Women's Day to end this epidemic by wearing and giving the bracelet to friends and family."
To date, Avon's empowerment jewellery has helped raise over £11 million for domestic violence charities worldwide, including £400,000 to UK organisations.
Ever wondered how Burn Notice's former Navy SEALs commander Sam Axe wound up in Miami Beach with burned spy Michael Westen? Blame it on a woman or two.
A prequel movie, Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Axe (April 17, USA Network), explains it all when the action opens five years back with Sam (Bruce Campbell) still on active duty and sent to the dangerous mountains of Colombia. "The whole mission is because Sam was fooling around with somebody he didn't know was an admiral's wife," says Campbell. His assignment: Work with the local militia, check out a supposed terrorist group and report back.
Look for the movie — directed by Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan — to have the spy drama's trademark humor, surprise plot twists, lots of heroics and a flirtation for Sam with a pretty, young aid worker (Kiele Sanchez). "This time," Campbell says, "we actually see Sam's love interest on screen."

A day after Charlie Sheen celebrated his firing from Two and a Half Men by waving a machete atop a roof in downtown L.A., an expected court hearing in his child-custody spat with Brooke Mueller was indefinteily postponed, according to the 45-year-old actor's attorney.
"No court today," Sheen's legal eagle Mark Gross tells E! News.
What magical warlock spell was at work? Here's what Sheen has to say.
At home prepping for his latest online rant tonight—in which he plans to deliver his "manifesto"— Sheen exclusively tells E! News that "cooler heads have prevailed" in his tyke tug-of-war with Mueller and that the duo seem to have sorted out their problems for now.
The same goes for his two daughthers with Denise Richards—Sam, who turns 7 tomorrow, and Lola, 5.
"Denise is lovely," he tells us.
Gross declined to elaborate on any sort of deal Sheen and Mueller may have hammered out ("I'm hoping I will have more to say later," he tells us), but one of the sticking points had been Brooke's insistence that a third-party monitor keep an eye on the kids while they're with Charlie.
Last week, Mueller obtained a restraining order against him and got a judge to order the couple's 2-year-old sons, Bob and Max, handed over to the care of her mother, Moira Fiore.
The twins had been staying with Sheen at his "goddess"-infested Mulholland estate, aka Sober Valley Lodge.
A hearing in that case is set for March 22—provided the trolls don't intervene.

Ngl, it kinda sucks. 90s nostalgia post?
It was like one of those Scooby-Doo episodes where people run in and out of a confusing corridor of impossibly interconnecting doors.
Amazingly, despite its flaws and somewhat overdone foreshadowing of The Avengers, it received a high rating of 74 per cent from reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes who, bizarrely, seemed to cast aside their critical faculties and judge purely on the rollercoaster of entertainment.
But someone somewhere realises the franchise has metal fatigue. Because Iron Man 3 is going to be very different, says newly signed-on director Shane Black.( Collapse )
But that may not be the end of ensemble epics. Besides the possibility of Avengers sequels, it's been suggested that Marvel may also be developing an adaptation of The Inhumans.
The Inhumans are a race of superbeings who were created when aliens called the Kree visited prehistoric Earth and carried out genetic experiments on primitive Homo sapiens.
Although Marvel hasn't announced that it's working on a film version of The Inhumans, the idea makes sense because the villains in The Avengers are rumoured to be the Skrulls, the other big set of extraterrestrial baddies in the comic books. Notably, a Kree-Skrull War featured in The Avengers comics, and the Inhumans did become embroiled in that conflict.
The report of The Inhumans being turned into a movie comes from Badass Digest which describes the concept as "Rome meets Star Wars meets the X-Men."
But it says the core concept could be changed for the big screen, with the film set to reimagine them as "aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don't want to cause war."
The project is out to writers, it says, with no release date set.
For those of you unfamiliar with The Inhumans, they first appeared in the pages of the Fantastic Four comic back in 1965.
The Inhumans' origin story explains that after their advanced race was created by genetic modification, they formed a hidden society around a city they called Attilan.
Although they already possessed strength, speed, endurance and longevity beyond any normal human, the Inhumans discovered a Terrigen Mist that mutated them further to give them even more amazing powers (and sometimes bizarre appearances). They choose to step into the mist as a rite of passage to adulthood; those who end up devolved into primitive throwbacks are consigned to a life as drones in Attilan's caste system.
The society is ruled by a royal family, led by Black Bolt, a man who must remain silent because just one word of his voice can destroy an entire city; his wife Medusa, who can animate her hair like tendrils; her sister Crystal, who can manipulate the elements; the amphibious Triton; the superstrong Gorgon, whose huge, hoofed feet can create tremors; Karnak, who can sense the weak spot in any object and shatter it with a blow; and Lockjaw, who was turned into a giant bulldog capable of teleportation.
Attilan, founded on an island, has relocated several times over the years, usually when under threat from the outside world. It was moved into the Andes, then the Himalayas and then to the moon before landing on the planet Hala.
I'm a great fan of The Inhumans and would love to see them on the big screen. I had expected them to make their debut eventually in Fox's Fantastic Four films, as happened in the comics, but all seems to have gone quiet as far as the Fantastic Four is concerned, with many suspecting the rights are now back with Marvel.
It will be interesting to hear what Marvel has to say on the likelihood of an Inhumans movie.
Selena Gomez will be shifting gears in her career after the end of the Disney series 'Wizards of Waverly Place.' Talking to Ryan Seacrest Tuesday morning, the starlet was sharing how the world premiere of her new single ‘Who Says’ starts the beginning of her new career in music.
The Disney channel star is ending her wildly popular show, Wizards of Waverly Place and turning her efforts to her music. Over the past few years, she has always dabbled, but this time it is all about headlining a show that fans can come to party. When asked by Ryan Seacrest about the show, it was apparent the starlet knows exactly what she wants.
“I want it to be a G rated rave. I want it to feel like a party,” Selena Gomez told Ryan Seacrest. “I am going to do different covers. I want it to be fun.”
When asked more about covers, Selena Gomez opened up about her favorite star of all time, Britney Spears. The entertainer definitely has all the music of Britney and even remembered her first album and concert experience was a Spears moment.
“We are going to do a Britney tribute,” says Gomez reflecting on her musical idol. She also raved about Brit's new music.
The headlining concerts of will be starting in late July and Selena Gomez will be touring around the United States. In the meantime the single ‘Who Says’ will have a video released on Disney Channel later this week along with the single being available digitally now and on her new CD (yet untitled) in June.

Jill Zarin is having serious doubts her long-defunct friendship with former 'Real Housewives of New York City' co-star Bethenny Frankel was ever real and tells me it was just a "TV romance" that went bad. Real bad.
"The truth is, I don't even remember being friends with her anymore," Jill tells me on my HDNet show. "You know, when I see her picture and when I see her on TV, I don't even remember our relationship. Which kinda says something."
The pair's friendship went down in flames during the third season of the hit show, with numerous on-air blowups leading to a full scale feud between the two. It probably didn't help that Jill accidentally broke the news of the birth of Bethenny's baby last year on Twitter.
But after many attempts to patch things up, it's pretty clear things are kaput for good for these ex-BFF's and Jill tells me she's fine with it because they didn't exactly have long history. "People thought we came into the show with that romance," she said. "We didn't. We fell in love on TV and we got a divorce on TV."
Now a year later, she's not even sure she and the 'Bethenny Ever After' star were chums to begin with! "It was real! Well, I thought the friendship was real. Clearly, it was not."
Just last week I asked Countess LuAnn de Lesseps if she missed having Bethenny around and she she gave me a rousing "NO!" in response.

This show is bloody brilliant and the best time I've had on Broadway for some time. If you have the means, you simply must go!
"Dan could not be a better fit for Finch (the character portrayed by Dan in the play). He’s the type of guy who would leap off a cliff and figure out how he’s going to land halfway down. Even though he once told me he couldn’t dance at all, he threw himself into rigorous training with determination and fearlessness. And now, Dan leads the show’s climactic production number, “Brotherhood of Man,” with joy and confidence.
Dan brings his own youthful energy to Finch. Like Dan himself, his Finch doesn’t sit back and contemplate; he dives into a problem and solves it. Dan is at once innocent and fiercely intelligent. This particular energy is what is so joyous for me about having Dan and Rose Hemingway (Rosemary) and the other younger people in the show: They give a modern spin to the period characters they’re playing." -Rob Ashford

New York Times bestseller & author Neil Strauss who has written juicy tidbits about celebrities, has a new book - and in it he reveals some information about Britney Spears.
At one point he talks of Christina Aguilera (then 19) being outraged that Britney Spears was honored by a baptist church because she was a (allegedly at the time) virgin.
"Oh? I can’t believe that,” Aguilera apparently told Strauss while rolling her eyes in disgust. “She’s not a virgin! Maybe it is Jessica Simpson, she is like that.”
How funny! Jessica ended up being Sexual Napalm. It’s always the ones we least expect.
He goes on to say that he got pretty close to Britney Spears in 2006 and she wanted to release a book about her life, information about Justin Timberlake & a beef with her mom, but people got in the middle - too much money was wanted- and it never happened.
Turns out Strauss developed quite a rapport with Spears and in 2006 he claims she wanted his help in writing a juicy tell-all about her life.
“Britney had all these notes that she had written down about Justin Timberlake, sexually acting out, and these battles with her mom.
It was really raw data and she had a copy of Goldie Hawn’s book and wanted it to be like that,” Strauss recalled. “She was so sweet, and kept calling me to talk about it. But at some point her people got in the middle of it and confiscated her phone.
“I think she even met with publishers about the book, but her people wanted so much money that it was just unfeasible and I felt so bad for her, all these people wrestling for control of her money instead of letting the girl do what she wanted to do.”
The producers of “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” are planning a significant overhaul of the $65 million Broadway musical that would involve shutting down performances for two to three weeks, as well as delaying its scheduled opening on March 15 for about three months, according to people who work on “Spider-Man” or were briefed on the producers’ plans.
An official start in June would be the sixth delay to the opening of “Spider-Man” in the show’s long history.
The precise dates for the shutdown — needed to give the cast a break and to hold new rehearsals — have not been set, but they are expected to cover late April and early May, the people said. They spoke Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because the producers were working on the details and wanted to disclose the plans themselves. An official announcement was expected this week.
The new opening night was also not clear as of late Tuesday; a shift to a time around the Tony Awards, which are June 12, could prove controversial among Broadway producers who are bothered by the media and public interest that has focused on “Spider-Man” instead of their shows. “Spider-Man” has been among the highest-grossing shows on Broadway since beginning preview performances on Nov. 28, taking in $1.28 million last week.
Who would oversee the creative changes has been an open question. The producers on Tuesday continued negotiating with their director, Julie Taymor, and her fellow creators, U2’s Bono and the Edge, about the composition of the artistic team going forward and about whether it would continue to include Ms. Taymor, according to the people briefed on the producers’ planning.

So here's a list of 10 actors from around the globe (read: Not America) who have shaped contemporary world cinema by consistently embracing roles that pose questions with no easy answers, characters whose trajectories don't follow clean arcs so much as they do the jagged lines of real life. This is as insanely myopic a list as has ever been devised, but it's proof enough that sometimes you have to draw outside the lines to make art that really matters.
10. Michael Fassbender
His Key Role: 'Hunger'
The most courageous thing Michael Fassbender can do these days is to walk down a public street, as his ever-growing horde of rabid admirers is always ready to tear the meaty flesh off his chiseled man bones (Fassbender's PR team is free to quote me on that). When was the last time an actor became a sex symbol on the heels of such difficult and unnerving roles? The German-born Fassbender had kicked around for a while, but he didn't really arrive until he starred as Bobby Sands in Steve McQueen's 'Hunger,' the gaunt and unwashed leader of Ireland's pivotal 1981 hunger strike.
Despite the fact that the (brilliant) film was obviously never destined for commercial success (one of its posters was just a swirl of feces), Fassbender was nevertheless able to use it as a launching pad to global stardom. His brief role in 'Inglourious Basterds' was rather flattering, but the predatory shame of his turn in Andrea Arnold's (brilliant) 'Fish Tank' proved that he Fassbender was interested in perverting his image, even if it slightly delayed his imminent fame. Fassbender will be known as Magneto before the summer is out, but he's already filming another project with Steve McQueen, proving that he isn't willing to be just another pretty face. Or charming accent. Or perfectly honed body. ...God, I hate Michael Fassbender.

Looks like Ralph, Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Johnny, and Mike aren’t ready to cool it just yet. Yesterday on ABC’s The View, New Edition‘s wildest Roxury boy, Bobby Brown, revealed that he and the fellas have reunited and plan to release new material soon. The group has broken up and gotten back together several times before since their initial end in 1988, by the way.

Tina Fey has finally broken the men-vs.-women in comedy debate down into terms we can really understand. In her second piece in The New Yorker in the last month — both excerpts are from her upcoming book, Bossypants — she, ahem, blows the lid off the one major difference she’s noted between male and female comedy writers: “The men urinate in cups. And sometimes jars.” She goes on to describe, in harrowingly funny and truthful detail, encountering cups and jars of pee in various male-dominated offices and writers’ rooms. This is a more illuminating fact than you might imagine: “Not all of the men at SNL whizzed in cups. But four or five out of 20 did, so the men have to own that one. Anytime there’s a bad female standup somewhere, some idiot Interblogger will deduce that ‘women aren’t funny.’ Using that same math, I can deduce that male comedy writers also piss in cups.”
