Bieber Army Attack Esperanza Spalding

If you were just Googling "Esperanza Spalding"—tonight's surprise winner of the Grammy for Best New Artist—you may have been surprised to learn from her Wikipedia page that "SHE IS F****** REATARD," or that her middle name is either "Justin" or "Quesadilla," or, for that matter, that she beat out "Nominee and gay favorite Justina Bieber" for the award. Well! Far be it from us to cast aspersion on the accuracy of a user-edited font of knowledge like Wikipedia, but it certainly seems possible that fans of losing nominee Justin Bieber (or, perhaps, people who like to throw poop around the internet) may have been "vandalizing" her Wikipedia page, adding possibly-untrue facts like:

Her middle name is "Quesadilla"
"She now has the 2011 Grammy for being the Best new Artist! Even though no one has ever heard of her! Yay!"
" JUSTIN BIEBER DESERVED IT GO DIE IN A HOLE. WHO THE HECK ARE YOU ANYWAY?" (n.b. this does not really seem to be a "fact" about anyone)
"HaHa Justin Bieber, you're just a little boy with no Grammy for Best New Artist.irehjbpojeh[ker"
"(Dan cannot believe the Biebs did not win)"

Poor Ms. Spalding! We can only imagine what it's like to have thousands of people trying to kill you with their minds. You can check out all of the vandalisms by going here and clicking "next edit" to your heart's content. [via]

Brandy doesn't like euro-pop; I'm sure you're sick of it, too

It seems like everyone is jumping on the Euro-pop train these days. With one turn of your radio dial you can hear everyone from Usher ('DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love Again') and Chris Brown ('Yeah 3x') to Rihanna ('S&M') latching on the synth-heavy global dance craze that is currently dominating the charts. But one act who won't be going that route is Grammy-winning singer Brandy.

The R&B veteran, who has sold more than 25 million albums since the release of her 1994 self-titled debut, is in the studio working on the follow-up to her 2008 release 'Human.' According to Brandy, she promises a much more grittier urban sound. "I'm not going for the Euro pop [sound] on this album," she told The BoomBox. "I like different styles of music, and that pop style is fine. It's the type of music that makes me move. But I just don't want to forget about my core audience. Just look at Usher. He did all his R&B in the beginning. Now he is playing around with the pop sound. And there's nothing wrong with that because for years he gave us what we wanted."

Brandy, who turns 32 years old today, admits that she went the wrong musical direction with her last studio project 'Human.' "I think my mistake on 'Human' was that it was too pop," she candidly says. "I want to go back to the fans that want the feel and sound of 'Never Say Never,' 'Full Moon,' and the vibe of my first album."

While Brandy won't give any full-details on a date for her new release, she says the set will drop this year. Having parted ways with her longtime label Atlantic Records in 2004, the acclaimed vocalist says that she is in discussions with a high profile label.

"It's happening," she says. "I can't talk about it, but I'm very excited."

Intruder Arrested at Home of Ellen DeGeneres

A female intruder was arrested earlier this week for trespassing on the property of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, but never made contact with either.

A rep for the talk show host tells us, "The property is protected by a 24-hour security team that detected and detained the intruder until she was turned over to the custody of Beverly Hills police officers, who arrested her." {SOURCE}

Lady Gaga's song, the new gay anthem?

Has Lady Gaga's Born This Way got what it takes to be a classic gay anthem? Jon Savage on the debt she owes to a brave 1970s singer.

Lady Gaga has just debuted her brand new single at the 53rd Grammy awards in Los Angeles. Her first all-new material for well over a year, Born This Way has been trailed by a mountain of hype and conjecture. This is par for the contemporary celebrity course. What is not, though, is the nature of the song, which is nothing less than a contemporary LGBT call-to-arms.

Elton John has recently called Born This Way "the anthem that's going to obliterate I Will Survive" – a laudable ambition indeed for anyone who's heartily sick of that Gloria Gaynor warhorse (which, by the way, is not an exclusively gay record). Gaga herself has been more circumspect: "It has been in my heart for over a year," she recently tweeted, but otherwise has, sensibly, fought shy of making any grand claims. Anthems are adopted, not hyped.

Who is Esperanza "Quesadilla" Spalding?

Who is Esperanza Spalding? The 26-year-old jazz bassist who snatched the Best New Artist Grammy out of the hands of Justin Bieber, that's who.

Although cameras quickly cut away, Bieber's disappointment at the announcement seemed clear. The AP reports Spalding had just one Grammy nomination entering the show's 53rd annual ceremony Sunday night.

Drake, Mumford & Sons and Florence and the Machine were also nominated. While a lot of people will spend the wake of Bieber's Best New Artist loss figuring out who Spalding is, there's little doubt she's extremely talented.

Franco Infiltrates the Berlin Art World

James Franco Takes Berlin

What happens when a Hollywood heartthrob and the art world collide? Berlin is about to find out as it plays host to James Franco's first ever commercial gallery show. The actor spoke to SPIEGEL ONLINE about the challenges of overcoming the skepticism and embracing his own celebrity in his art.

The idea that Berlin has become a mecca for young artists from across the world has become something of a cliché, but the buzz surrounding a new art opening on Saturday night has less to do with the much-hyped city than the global celebrity of the artist himself.

Hollywood actor James Franco is launching his first commercial gallery show in the German capital, with works that address the anarchy and confusion of adolescence, and that also play with the unavoidable fact of his own fame.

The show features "childhood motives and images," Franco explained to SPIEGEL ONLINE. "It's about coming of age or defining oneself and the kind of self-definition that comes when you're younger."

Franco tried to use subjects that were childlike and then "amp them up a little bit." "I guess what I was trying to do is to just get at the essential nature of certain things by making them childish and simple," he explained. Collapse )

6O Minutes Overtime - Lady Gaga

How seriously did Lady Gaga take her 12 and a half minute profile in the "60 Minutes" broadcast? Despite the bejeweled saw she brought with her to an interview, we would argue she took it very seriously. "Once she was in," says producer John Hamlin, "she was all in." Hamlin, who has profiled dozens of music legends in his 18 years at the broadcast, says Gaga was willing to participate in anything the producers asked of her, giving it her all at every turn (a rare response among the world's biggest stars). At one point during the three-month shoot, Hamlin asked Gaga for five minutes on the Lower East Side in front of the building where she lived before she was famous. Gaga showed up in hotpants and spent an hour on camera, touring the neighborhood, pointing out her old haunts, and even snuck her way into the apartment building where she once lived as a struggling singer-songwriter.

Once inside, as you'll see in this video, Gaga gave the "60 Minutes" cameras an emotional moment that's hard to look away from.

Barbra Streisand Apologizes for Harsh 'Glee' Remark

Barbra Streisand is singing a new tune about Glee.

At a Grammy's MusiCares tribute event in her honor Friday, she was asked whether she would ever consider a role on the smash Fox show. "Not if I can help it," she sniped to reporters.

Now, on her Web site, she admits she shouldn't have used such a harsh phrase.

"When asked if I would ever appear on ‘Glee,' I should have said, 'You never know.' It was wrong to say, 'Not if I can help it,' she writes.

She goes on to say that she has been "overwhelmed preparing for my performance on MusiCares, the Grammys, recording a new album, and starting a new movie. So I couldn’t take on any more work, and besides that, I wasn’t asked. I’m so honored that a lead character on “Glee” is so admiring of my work. In my speech at MusiCares, I thanked them 'for exposing young people to music they might otherwise not hear today: Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, and Darren Criss…you’re all so gifted."

Charlie Sheen tests negative for drugs

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Charlie Sheen--known party boy and friend of drugs, alcohol and porn stars--has possibly really proved that he's ready to clean up his act, once and for good.

As many are aware, Charlie currently is undergoing a rehab stint privately at home, to try to get him to kick his terrible addictions to controlled substances and adult film stars.

Up until now there hasn't been much press about how he's progressing. Sure, he had a non-alcoholic Super Bowl party and spoke out about choosing chocolate milk over drugs, but is that just a front, or is he truly becoming a changed man?

Well, it seems today everyone might very well have an answer to that question.

TMZ has reported that Charlie Sheen has had two drug tests and that he tested negative for drugs on both of them. At least for the time being, Charlie is clean!

This is just wonderful news to everyone around the world who has been rooting for him to get better. Most of all, it's wonderful news to his five children who just might have daddy back in their lives, where he belongs.
It's still too early to tell if this is the real deal, or if he'll suffer a relapse, but for now this is an amazing victory for Charlie! It seems that his plans to get back to work on Two and a Half Men by the end of this month very well could happen, which will make a whole lot of viewers and fans very happy and proud of him.

Sheen by the numbers:

14.6 million number of viewers watching Two And A Half Men every week
$1.2 million amount Sheen earns per episode, making him TV's highest paid star
$210,000 cost to air a 30-second commercial spot during Men
$600 million revenue that Men will earn over the next few years for Warner Bros.

Charlie Sheen trashes 2 1/2 Men Crew

Charlie Sheen blasted the people behind "Two and a Half Men" on a live radio interview today -- claiming THEY are to blame for the current stoppage in production ... because HE'S ready to work!

A raspy -sounding Charlie called in to "The Dan Patrick Show" this morning and explained he lost his voice because he tried to go back to work ... and was yelling and banging on the stage door ... but nobody was there.

Sheen explained, "[The execs] said 'You get ready and we'll get ready' ... and I got ready and went back and nobody was there ... I don't know what to tell ya."

He added, "I'm here and I'm ready. They're not. Bring it."

In fact, sources connected to the show tell TMZ the plan is for Charlie to get better -- which is why the show went on hiatus in the first place -- and then production will resume on Feb. 28.

To all the ONTDers I've loved this year, Happy V.D.!!! ...that stands for Valentine's Day...please get your stank mind out the gutter...

January Jones confirms what we've all known; 'X Men: First Class' is a total rushjob

For months now there has been rumblings and rumors about the troubles on the set of “X-Men: First Class.” Latino Review at one point went as far as to allege that 2nd unit directors were shooting the film while filmmaker Matthew Vaughn edited it.

Whatever the case is, recent and very candid comments from ‘First Class’ star January Jones suggest there is at least some truth to these rumors in the sense that film is rushing towards the finish line and major reshoots are taking place.

But backing up a second, we all must have known this was the case. “X-Men: First Class” is the only superhero tentpole coming out this year that was announced just over a year (May 2010) from its projected June release date and it’s shoot date to theater range is tiny by comparison of most tentpoles. The film began shooting in late September 2010 and with a June 3, 2011 release date, some-10-odd months to shoot a massive tentpole is not a lot of time (”Green Lantern,” “Thor,” Zack Snyder‘s “Superman” and “The Dark Knight Rises” have all built in 12+ month schedules; ‘Lantern’ for example began shooting Feb 2010 with a June 17, 2011 cushion of a release date).

Vaughn himself recently remarked on the madness of his rushed shoot and Jones has only confirmed it to the Canadian press, albeit in a few more details then 20th Century Fox would like to hear publicly from one of its stars (3, 2, 1, the phonecall her PR reps are going to receive).

There is hope yet, 4 Episodes axed from shooting schedule of "Two and a Half Men"

The cast and crew of "Two and a Half Men" have just taken a major hit to their bank accounts, because Warner Bros. has just axed 4 of the remaining episodes ... TMZ has learned.

Warner Bros. was supposed to produce 8 more episodes to end the season, but with Charlie Sheen out, it set production behind.

Sources connected with the show tell us ... show creator Chuck Lorre has decided he only wants to produce 4 more episodes when Charlie comes back, and the crew is pissed.

One crew member tells us, "We've been left in the dark and now we have no pay for 4 episodes and all we hear is that Chuck is saying, 'They're not my problem.'"

Sources say Charlie has told people he was willing to work weekends and beyond the scheduled wrap date to make sure all 8 episodes were produced.

As for the schedule, we're told the show will go back into production on February 28. The remaining 4 episodes will be shot on March 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Jamie Bell video interview on Collider.com - Full version

The second half of this was posted here a few days ago; now the full version has been put online.

Bonus excerpt from a New York Magazine interview with Channing Tatum on "The Eagle":

In The Eagle, there are two male leads but no female love interests. Would you say there’s a homoerotic element to the film?
Well there are swords, and two guys are sword fighting. There’s a metaphor there I’m sure. And back in the Roman day I think it was probably more accepted than it is now. But there’s none in the movie. Me and [director Kevin Macdonald] talked a lot before we started filming: There is no love story in the movie, but it’s a relationship movie for sure.

There’s been a lot of buzz about the master-slave relationship going on there. Seems a little BDSM.
I think Jamie had a lot of fun having me as a slave. I don’t think I took advantage of it like I should have when he was my slave. But Jamie, yeah — he abused me. So maybe there was some frustration coming out a little bit here and there.

Sorry Ben, Ken Chooses Barbie

Barbie and Ken are back in love — and by this time tomorrow, they'll be "in a relationship" on Facebook.

Ken and Barbie have reunited after breaking up in 2004.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the plastic pair have decided to rekindle their romance. After Ken's efforts over the past month to woo back Barbie — he's been posting about his grand romantic gestures on Facebook and Twitter— she has made her decision.

"Ken and I were made for each other," Barbie tells USA TODAY. "Our love is grander than any dream house."

The nearly five decades-long doll love story came to an abrupt ending on Valentine's Day 2004 when the match-made-in-Mattel heaven shocked the world with their unexpected decision to spend time apart. Barbie began dating Australian surfer Blaine, while Ken did his best to get Barbie back in 2006. Despite his efforts — he even hired celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch to help him achieve a new look — the two dolls remained just friends.

Until now, that is.

Mattel, the manufacturer behind Barbie and Ken, plan to celebrate their iconic and beloved couple's status with a limited edition "Together Again" gift set that will retail for just $5. The dolls come ready for a romantic date in Malibu, sporting sun-kissed tans and modern fashions inspired by their original 1959 and 1961 swimsuits.

The couple, who originally started dating in 1961, even have plans to merge their Facebook pages into one at www.facebook.com/barbie.

Like the saying goes, it's not official until it's on Facebook.

We’ve put your top picks — 25 men, and 29 women (there was a tie for that last spot) — in two polls below. Vote now through Tuesday at midnight ET. Come back Thursday when we’ll reveal the results. Remember: You can’t change anything about the character you’re picking, other than that he or she will no longer have feelings for his or her show love interest. (Second rule: Do not feel guilty.) Note: The order the characters are listed in the polls below is how they ranked during the first round, when you could be indecisive. What will happen when you can only pick one?

Best and Worst Young Adult Novel Adaptations

It's that time of year again, the time of year when a young adult novel first stretches its legs as the feature film it was always meant to be sold to Hollywood as. This time around it's I Am Number Four, a saga of an alien refugee hunted on Earth by the invaders who wiped out his race. We're pretty sure it will do well -- the action looks neat, the actor is hunky and Quinn from Glee is in it -- but that doesn't mean it's any good. Star Alex Pettyfer already appeared in one failed young-adult book adaptation, Stormbreaker, and there are dozens of others out there just like it. Here are some of the best and worst

Sullen Mulligan Not A Cry-Baby On Set

Carey Mulligan: I wasn't a cry-baby

Carey Mulligan has revealed she tried not to be a cry-baby as she filmed Never Let Me Go.
The Bafta-winning actress stars in the melancholy big-screen adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's best-selling novel alongside Andrew Garfield and Keira Knightley.
She said she struggled not to be tearful on set.
"It was about trying not to cry all the time - I cry all the time, it's my modus operandi, so we all wanted to hold back, and not drop a tear," she revealed.
"We were watching each other a bit. It's always harder to maintain raw enthusiasm or joy than to go to a really dark place. We didn't want to portray tragedy or observe our circumstances."
Carey, who was propelled to fame after her award-winning performance in An Education, had no doubts about saying yes to Never Let Me Go.
"I read the book when it came out and I loved it first and foremost as a love story, about people who want very simple things from life and can't get them," she said.
There was pressure to do the book justice, especially with the author on set.
"This was doubly intimidating because we had Ish (Ishiguro) with us and you want it to be everything that he imagined when he wrote it and there are people who read the book recently and are in love with it, so there's more pressure," she added.

Jesse Eisenberg - Daily Telegraph interview

Catching an actor in the eye of the awards-season hurricane can be a poignant experience, particularly when the actor in question is as resolutely self-deprecating as Jesse Eisenberg.
The 27-year-old New Yorker, whose profile has increased in steady increments over the past decade, is being universally feted for his eerie, funny and deadpan-mournful performance as Facebook mastermind Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s The Social Network.

It is the lead role in the most vociferously acclaimed American film of the year; he’s won awards from critics’ groups he didn’t even know existed; he’s been nominated for Best Actor at both the Oscars and Baftas. Needless to say, it’s a busy moment. Flown in to London especially for an evening screening at Bafta HQ, he makes time for a brief chat – and a fig caipirinha – with the Telegraph.

Though he’s been in more than his fair share of well-regarded films, from Roger Dodger (2002) to The Squid and the Whale (2005) and onwards, Eisenberg is a newcomer to the all-consuming media hoopla of awards nominations.

Not exactly sure how, but Portlandia is renewed for a second season!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've seen the five episodes that have aired so far - and out of the five - maybe 1 was funny, and I'm even from Portland, so I sort of have to like it. According to MSN, the show has already been picked up for another season!
Portland's tolerance test continues - after sketch comedy series "Portlandia" was renewed for a second season.
Entertainment paper Variety reported Monday that work on a 10 new episodes should start this summer.
The show, created by Portland's Carrie Brownstein and Saturday Night Live's Fred Armisen, is in the midst of its six-episode debut.
It has featured a broad skewering of Portland and pop culture quirks, shot around town and featuring guest stars such as Kyle MacLachlan, Steve Buschemi, Aimee Mann and even Portland Mayor Sam Adams.
"This is the first time ever that we've picked up a show while it's still running," IFC senior VP of original programming Debbie DeMontreux told Variety.
The paper reported the show was averaging 235,000 viewers among adults 18-49, that's almost four times the network's IFC's primetime average.
Episode 6 wraps up this season on February 25. The show airs at 10:30 p.m. Fridays on IFC.

Out of that 235,000, I wonder how many are not Oregonians. Do you watch it? What city do you live in?

Lady GaGa: 'I smoke pot for inspiration'

Lady GaGa has revealed that she gets her musical inspiration from smoking marijuana.

The 'Born This Way' singer explained that she is open and honest about using drugs.

In an interview with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes, she said: "I still smoke a lot of pot when I write music. So I'm not gonna, like, sugar coat it for 60 Minutes that I'm some, like, sober human being, 'cause I'm not."

Despite admitting that she uses cannabis, the 24-year-old insisted that she is not encouraging her fans to start using drugs.

She said: "I don't want to encourage kids to do drugs. But when you asked me about the sociology of fame and what artists do wrong - what artists do wrong is they lie. And I don't lie. I'm not a liar.

"I built good will with my fans. They know who I am. And I'm just like them in so many ways."

Not everyone watched the interview.

Robyn to Continue Working in Mini-Album Format

After three "Body Talk" releases during 2010, Swedish singer Robyn says she plans to keep making EPs or mini-albums rather than full-length album projects in the future.

"The plan is to keep going and recording shorter albums so that I can keep my touring and my recording processes equal," Robyn, whose single "Dancing On My Own" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, tells Billboard.com. "I just want to keep a flow, just stay inspired and keep working, and it feels like it's possible with this way of working. I wasn't sure in the beginning if people would get it, but they did, which is really cool. I'm touring a lot more than I thought I would, so I'm very happy about how I've been able to connect to my audience."

Zhang Ziyi's new movie 'MULAN' releases poster

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The first poster for the Hollywood-made Chinese folk story "Mulan" has been released.

The name of the film will be called "Mulan, the Legend of a Woman Warrior" ("Jin Guo Ying Xiong"). The face of the heroine Hua Mulan, played by Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, features on the left of the poster. And a perspective of a war field is on the right, indicating it's a story about war.

The film is adapted from a famous Chinese folk story dating back in the 6th century. It tells of a young woman who replaces her father to fight in the all-male army. The story was put on the big screen by Disney in an animated version in 1998, which made it famous worldwide.
And in 2009, a Chinese-language version of the story was released with actress Zhao Wei starring as the lead character Hua Mulan.

Now the story will be brought back to the big screen again in 3-D. "Speed" director Jan de Bont will create an English-language version. Apart from actress Zhang Ziyi, details about the cast have yet to be announced.

Sammi and Ronnie's Relationship is Based on Hate-Sex

I have it on good authority (from an MTV employee who wishes to remain nameless, natch) that the missing puzzle piece of Jersey Shore's Sammi and Ronnie's perplexing relationship is a good old fashioned dose of furious hate-f*cking. Quite a bit of raw footage from last week's episode ended up on the cutting room floor, as it was just too hot for TV, but what's really surprising is the time line.

Apparently, in the time between when Ms. Sweetheart returned home to find her belongings smashed to smithereens and when she tearfully left the following morning, she and Ron-Ron engaged in an act of coitus so volatile, it could not be broadcast, depicted, or alluded to in any way. How one goes from weeping at the sight of their destroyed glasses to relentlessly riding the perpetrator is beyond me, but I'll say this - I get it now.

Now their relationship makes sense. I'd always assumed Sammi was (to quote a Mr. John Mayer) "sexual napalm" in the sack, but add that extra emotional level and WHOA. Something had to have been keeping Ronnie around, since Sammi is, after all, an insane manipulative b*tch of cataclysmic proportions, and now we know what it is. I don't know about you, but I'm picturing a veritable triathlon of rage-infused penetration.

Anyway, the mid-season trailer hints at plenty more Sammi and Ronnie drama to come, despite her misty exodus, so buckle up and grab the lotion. That is, if fantasizing about angry Guidos going at it is your thing. Which it isn't... right? Right?

We're One Step Closer To Judgement Day!

If you’re a horrible robot secretly plotting an apocalyptic takeover of the planet Earth, then the next three days will feel like Christmas, Independence Day, and Super Bowl Sunday, with just a touch of Bastille Day. That’s because Jeopardy is beginning a special three-night showdown between two of the quiz show’s ultra-champions — Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, a.k.a. “Mr. Winning Streak” and “Mr. Moneybags” — and Watson, a soulless robot invented by IBM to prove that machines can finally defeat their creators at the oldest game in human history: Knowledge of Random Trivia. (You’ll recall that the last time IBM did something like this, they created an abomination called Deep Blue, which defeated Garry Kasparov and ruined chess forever. In other news, IBM is changing its name to “Skynet.”)

In a press video released last month, we already saw that Watson can hold his own against his opponents, despite the fact that the horrible machine has never breathed fresh air or laughed in response to a friend’s joke. (Watson doesn’t even have any friends, because who wants to be friends with a stupid robot?) I’m betting that humanity can pull this one out, but it’ll be a close one, viewers.

Madonna's New Album/Tour

Whitney Houston Madonna parties with new boytoy Brahim Zaibat in Asphalt club in Berlin Feb 13

It looks like Madonna is preparing to enter the studio to record a new album, the first under her $100 million multi-rights deal with Live Nation, which another lucrative tour seems likely as well.
“They tell me Madonna is about to record, so there could be another Madonna cycle coming,” Live Nation Entertainment Chairman Irving Azoff told Billboard.biz during an interview earlier this week. Asked if the Madonna album would come through Live Nation, Azoff responded, “Yes,” meaning Madonna’s album could be the first recorded content overseen by Live Nation. The Zac Brown Band’s LP “The Foundation” was initially geared to be a Live Nation project in 2008, but the company folded its label division with the exit of then-chairman Michael Cohl and the record ended up on Atlantic.
Azoff’s news was echoed by Madonna manager Guy Oseary this week via Twitter: “The update is that Madonna can’t wait to get into the recording studio. This will happen as soon as she finishes the movie she directed.”
Live Nation signed a 10-year multi-rights deal with Madonna in 2007 said to be worth as much as $100 million, including her touring, merchandising and recording rights. Madonna left Wa
rner Bros., her label home of 25 years, after the release of her 2008 album “Hard Candy.” Her subsequent Live Nation-produced “Sticky & Sweet” tour grossed $408 million worldwide, according to Billboard Boxscore, highest ever for a female artist.

Ke$ha- "Jack Daniels is an Anti-bacterial"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Ke$ha may need to see a dentist for some advice. ASAP.

The wild-child singer spoke with Vanity Fair about her career thus far, hitting on her hard-partying ways and her interesting declaration in the song 'Tik Tok.' In the first verse of the song, she says, "Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack." And apparently, she wasn't making it up.

"Absolutely not!" she insisted to the magazine. "Jack Daniels is an anti-bacterial and it's way better than morning breath. Let me put it this way, if you wake up naked in a bathtub and you have the choice between rinsing out with Jack Daniels or trying to make out with some dude with morning breath, I would recommend picking up the Jack."

Well, take note of that for those situations. It is an interesting twist to her story, one that most people think is filled with lyrics of exaggeration and nonsensical rhymes. A Princeton professor even spoke about the subject, if only to mock her.

Why Arcade Fire's Grammy Win is Such a Big Deal

Everyone has surely heard by now that Arcade Fire, the little Canadian indie rock group that could, surprised nearly everyone by winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for The Suburbs at last night’s ceremony. In between fiery performances of “Month of May” and “Ready To Start”, Win Butler accepted the award from a very out of the loop Barbara Streisand.

So why is Arcade Fire’s win such a big deal? Well, apart from the obvious (i.e. they wrote some astounding new songs that weren’t ubiquitously promoted by the big evil corporate machine), The Suburbs’ underdog triumph is telling of the music industry’s all too evident decline. This is the same award that went to Steely Dan (?!) ten years ago, mind you. Watching Babs and Kris Kristofferson--two cherished but, let’s face it, dated icons of Grammy Awards past--hang around onstage much longer than necessary was a sad but appropriate metaphor for what’s happening in popular music: we don’t know how to sell this music stuff anymore, so we’ll just cling tight to what we know is safe and established and will keep gas in our private jets.

The Suburbs is the first independent rock album in history to win Album of the Year. Seriously. Love ‘em or not, the Arcade Fire’s upset last night is a major victory for indie music labels everywhere, all too often outspent by the big boys yet, despite economic disadvantages, still capable of kicking out organic, quality rock n’ roll music that makes a big impact in people’s lives.

Never thought I’d say it, but big props to the Grammys for making the right call this year. Just make sure Kanye takes home everything next year and we’ll be good.

"Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro and his wife welcome their fourth child

Fresh out of the oven!

Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro is a dad for the fourth time, his rep tells PEOPLE.

Valastro's wife Lisa, who also appears on the TLC show, gave birth to son Carlo Salvatore Valastro on Monday, Feb. 14 at 5:11 p.m. The baby boy was born at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston N.J., weighing in at 7 lbs., 3 oz., and measuring 20 inches long.

"We feel so blessed to welcome a healthy new baby into our family," Valastro, 33, tells PEOPLE. "Lisa’s doing great and we can't wait to bring Carlo home."

Carlo joins elder siblings Sofia, 7, Buddy, 6, and Marco, 3, at home in Hoboken, N.J.

The baby's names each honor a man close to the family's heart: Carlo, for the man Valastro's father took over the business from, and Salvatore for Sal Picinich, who worked in the shop as a baker for more than four decades and whom Valastro considered to be a second father. Picinich lost his battle with cancer in January.

TLC will air a one-hour special celebrating the new baby on Sunday, March 6 at 9 pm ET, capturing the family preparing for his arrival, Lisa's baby shower, and the birth of Carlo.

I love this show and watch when I get a chance.

Roseanne Barr joined Oprah Winfrey for a one-hour conversation on Monday that was more like a therapy session than a TV talk show.

In that respect, it was vintage Oprah as she got Roseanne talking about the incest allegations Roseanne first leveled at her parents in 1991 -– a story that appeared on the cover of People magazine. On “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Roseanne admitted she regretted airing the accusations in public because she’s unsure even now if the “incest” she believed had happened had ever taken place.

In addition, the allegations led to rifts with members of her family, including her father, who died 10 years ago without ever forgiving her; and her sister, Geraldine, who told the “Oprah” audience that she and her sister didn’t speak for 12 years. “I wish I had done what I did in a different way,” Roseanne told Oprah. “It was the worst thing I ever did -– calling it ‘incest’.”

Congress spending cuts aim at public TV, Big Bird

When the GOP-led House takes up its plan tomorrow to slash spending for the rest of 2011, Big Bird and his Sesame Street buddies will get a starring role in the debate.

The Republican proposal calls for eliminating funding for the Corp. for Public Broadcasting, the largest source of funding for public television and a longtime partner in the Sesame Workshop, the non-profit behind the educational show. Public TV has long been in the GOP's cross hairs.

"This Republican budget would essentially kill Big Bird while continuing to subsidize Big Oil," Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., said over the weekend.

Markey is no stranger to fights with the GOP over Big Bird and Elmo, defending public TV funding in 2008 and in previous years. The liberal group MoveOn.org has an online petition to save taxpayer dollars for public broadcasting.

House Speaker John Boehner, while not specifically addressing the cut for public television, vowed today that Republicans will seek even deeper spending cuts if their plan to cut $100 billion for the remaining seven months of the fiscal year goes through.

"Our goal is to listen to the American people and liberate our economy from the shackes of debt, over-taxation and big government," Boehner said.

"Black Swan" Effect: Are Regal and AMC Teaming Up to Distribute Indie Films?

Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Entertainment Inc. are reportedly working together to acquire and distribute independent films, a market that has long been dominated by Hollywood Studios. Although neither company has confirmed the deal, the L.A. Times cites "people familiar with the situation" and reports that the joint venture has hired a CEO.

According to the LA Times, the chains hope to bridge the gap between supply and demand. Box office in the U.S. was down 5 percent in 2010 from the previous year, according to Box Office Mojo.

The theaters hope to draw more people into their venues by offering more options for screenings. The Times reports that after years of independent films being avoided by studios, there's a resurgence in their popularity and viability, based partly on the successes of Oscar nominees "Black Swan" and "The King's Speech."

She is genuine in her affection for us and doesn’t need to exploit us as a marketing tool like some other current Madonna-like icon."

Speaking of Madonna, she came in second with 25 percent of the vote. “When Madonna puts out a new album, she will be on top again. Madonna is the greatest icon the Gay community has ever had,” says Mr. Waddell. He isn’t happy with the fact Lady Gaga came in third with 22 percent of the vote.

“Lady Gaga is a talentless scam artist. She is to the Gay community what Hitler was to Germany—completely destructive." He is a little bit more enthusiastic about Katy Perry, who earned 12 percent of the vote. Other names mentioned include Perez Hilton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Cher.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark gets new distributor

“Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” has escaped from the shadows.

The thriller, produced by Guillermo del Toro and starring Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes, had once been scheduled for a Jan. 21 release by Miramax Films. But the movie was thrown into limbo when Disney sold the specialty label in a $660-million deal. It was unclear what Miramax's new owner, Colony Capital, would do with it -- Disney didn't want to hold on to the title and do its own release.

Now, new distributor FilmDistrict says it has acquired all U.S. rights to the film from Colony Capital and will release the movie on Aug. 12. FilmDistrict is the new financing, production and distribution outfit launched by producer Graham King and Tim Headington. Other potential distributors said they wanted to cut the film to get a PG-13 but FilmDistrict will release “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” with its original R rating.

Cee Lo's stylist reveals the story behind his Grammy get-up, talks Gwyneth-Beyonce friendship

There were plenty of surprises on last night’s Grammys, but nothing gave us quite the sartorial shock as the performance of “Forget You,” which saw Cee Lo Green outfitted in a giant feather costume, a gaggle of Muppets, and a stiletto-dancing Gwyneth Paltrow. We got the facts about the fantastical duet from Green’s stylist, Shawn Barton, who has previously worked with OutKast. (Barton spoke to us from London, where she had jetted straight from the Grammys alongside Green, who will be performing at the Brit Awards on Feb. 15.) She dished on Green’s inspiration for the outlandish performance, Paltrow’s wardrobe change of heart, and a certain famous someone who was cheering them on backstage.

Sufjan Stevens talks about his bad dancing, Michael Jackson, and why he wants to see Lady Gaga live

Sufjan Stevens' 2010 album, The Age of Adz, came out of nowhere in many ways. For one, it was announced a mere six weeks before its release. And then it sounded like little else we'd ever heard from the troubadour-- delicate finger-picking and narrative storytelling were replaced by geyser-like electronic beats and abstract wails. The ensuing tour-- which had Stevens dancing in shiny "space garbage" while hyper-colorful projections popped behind his costumed band-- took his bold new vision even further.

The new moves were polarizing, with some fans left confused by the drastic changes. But Stevens isn't backing down. "It's a big shift, and it may not be for some people," he told us matter-of-factly when we recently called him up in Hong Kong, where he was visiting his sister during a break from his Age of Adz tour.

The following conversation touches on everything about the artist's latest left turn, including the mysterious illness Stevens fell under while making Adz, how Michael Jackson influenced the album's tour, and what's next for the unpredictable indie star:

SORRY MODS, I FIXED THE PICTURE/TAGS! I know this is TL;DR for most of ONTD, but I figured the handful of Sufjan stans would appreciate it.
