is Joe Jonas gay?

Taking off from Street Lounge Restaurant, Joe Jonas is asked whether there's any truth to recent allegations that the singer is actually gay. Additionally, Joe is questioned whether girlfriend Ashley Greene's "contract as beard partner" is to expire next month. Ouch.

In reply, Joe starts to let loose an expletive, but catches himself and instead cautions the pap to "have some respect". The pap answers that he's just doing his job.

Poor Simon Pegg looks exhausted while Tom Cruise is ready for action!

Simon Pegg must have had a smashing good time over the holidays. The star of Run Fat Boy Run and Shaun of the Dead was photographed leaving Jolly Ol’ England on Sunday where he was en route to Vancouver, Canada to continue shooting the latest installment of the Mission Impossible franchise called Ghost Protocol.

He was joined on set by his co-stars Tom Cruise and the lovely Paula Patton who seemed to be having a laugh together. What an amazing set to be a part of!!

According to Wikipedia, Pegg stars in the role of Benji Dunn, an IMF laboratory technician who assists Tom Cruise’s character Ethan Hunt.

HOUSE IS BACK with TWO guest stars - HQ Promo

Flawless Candice Bergen and my longtime love Matthew Lillard are both guest starring in House next week!
The role was given to Lillard as Katie Jacobs, producer on House is a fan.

What do you think of the promo?

Hugh Laurie waved at me once as he and his wife were sneaking out of an industry party whilst there were speeches going on, and they were giggling waiting by the lifts. I looked up from cloakroom duties and he waved as they got in the lift, aww. True story bb.

Muse ready to rocket 'n' roll

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

MUSE are really beginning to live up to the role of a stadium rock band.

In true SPINAL TAP fashion they have set their sights on playing the first ever gig in space.

JAMIROQUAI frontman JAY KAY, the original Space Cowboy and petrolhead, will be sick in his silly hat if he's beaten to the title. As will IRON MAIDEN lead singer BRUCE DICKINSON, who is probably qualified to pilot a jet into orbit.

Muse frontman MATT BELLAMY said: "We've had some discussions about playing in space. Sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it's for real.

"I'm thinking of approaching RICHARD BRANSON to see if we could do it on his spacecraft he's got happening.

"Although we do have a lot of equipment, so I guess we'd have to use pods to carry our stuff and we'd scale back the shows a lot.

"I don't think the spacecraft is like a Tardis, where we could get everything in we usually have. I do think it will be possible in the future and I'm sure it willl happen in my lifetime. We'd love to be part of that.

"Maybe I've seen The Jetsons too many times."

Ignore the random bolding, that was all The Sun, not me.  But seriously, fuck playing in outer space, they should come to Toronto again so I'll actually have a chance of seeing them live.

Sherri Shepherd Gets Engaged to Her Dad

The View's co-host Sherri Shepherd, 43, said yes to television writer Lamar Sally, her rep confirms to UsMagazine.com.

The couple of more than a year became engaged on December 26 after returning from a San Diego trip. And the proposal was definitely a romantic one: Upon their arrival, Sally's friend had decorated the home with lights, put a Santa beard and hat on her dog, and hid the ring box in Shepherd's bowl of M&Ms.

Before asking for his love's hand, Sally asked permission from Shepherd's 5-year-old son, Jeffrey.

The couple is planning an August wedding in Chicago.

Stewart Returns, Compares Obama To Luke Skywalker

What a difference two weeks makes! "The Daily Show" returned last night after a two-week holiday break with a starkly different view of the Obama administration. Before break, Jon Stewart used his last show of the year to shed light on important legislation the lame duck Congress had yet to pass, including the 9/11 first responders bill and a repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell," and passed much of the blame on to the President.

Monday night, however, Stewart was wowed by the amount of things Obama got done in the two weeks "The Daily Show" was away. Not only did the Zadroga Bill and a repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" go through, but so did a new set of food safety laws and several other overdue pieces of legislation. He was impressed:

"Holy crap, Democrats! You need to lose midterms more often, it suits you! If only you'd completely lose the Senate, we could solve our immigration problems."

Believe nothing. Trust no one.

Several articles (x x x x to name a few that have been posted on ONTD) have been going around saying that British singer/songwriter Jessie J, whose existence is currently relevant thanks to her top ten hit single Do It Like a Dude (go on click, it's fabulous.) and writing Party in the USA, has been writing a song (or a few) for Britney Spears and that as a result the album has a very distinct ~UK~ feel.

Horror Pops Patricia Day sues Mattel over alleged use of her image

The toymaker, which was embroiled in a lengthy copyright dispute with Danish group Aqua over the hit song "Barbie Girl" a decade ago, has been sued by a Danish punk rocker.

Patricia Day, lead singer of HorrorPops, claims that a doll in Mattel's "Hard Rock Barbie" collection, released last spring, appropriated her likeness: "Long black hair, retro tattoos, red fingernails, fishnets and a decorated bass fiddle (to) give this doll true rockabilly style."

In a lawsuit filed last week in Indiana District Court, Day says that Mattel got licenses from Deborah Harry, Joan Jett and Cyndi Lauper for other dolls in the collection, but failed to get her consent.

It's Official: Blake Lively and Chanel

From ElleUK:
Chanel has confirmed that the star of it's next ad campaigns will be Blake Lively.

It's been something of an open secret for a month now but now we can officially confirm that Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has been picked by Karl Lagerfeld to be the new Chanel ambassador.

Lively is set to star in ads for the new Mademoiselle bag, and the pictures, which will be unveiled in April, have already been snapped. The actress-turned-model got to pose on the iconic staircase in Coco Chanel's Rue du Cambon studio - and, according to WWD, she was pretty thrilled by the whole experience. 'How did Cinderella feel when she slipped on the glass slipper? How did Snow White feel when she met her Prince Charming?,' she gushed. 'Dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around.'

Blake's appointment hasn't come as a great surprise - ever since she was first spotted front row at the Chanel couture show early last year, she and Karl have struck up a friendship, and she's also been spotted in an impresesive line-up of the label's dresses. What with this and her friendship with Christian Louboutin, we could find ourselves getting quite envious of the lucky Miss Lively...

Lindsay's Probation Problem -- Did She Commit Multiple Violations?

Lindsay Lohan may have violated not just one, but several violations of her probation while undergoing treatment at the Betty Ford Center according to the Palm Desert Police Department, which will be turning its findings over to the Riverside County District Attorney and the L.A. County Probation Office. As RadarOnline.com previously reported, if the Mean Girls "star", 24, is found to have violated the conditions of her probation, she could be headed back to jail.

Lindsay is under new scrutiny following her altercation with Betty Ford staffer Dawn Holland, who was fired after the incident for selling confidential medical information about Lohan to TMZ.

Kathy Griffin is off The D-List

Kathy Griffin is off the D-list.

The comedian is ending the six season – and Emmy Award-winning – run of her hit Bravo show, My Life on the D-List, she tells PEOPLE.

"It was a really tough decision because I think of the D-List as pretty much my baby for the last six seasons and I also think it was really time to stop doing it," Griffin, 50, says by phone from L.A. "Reality is great, but I really didn't set out to be a reality star. So now it's time to spread my wings and show that I'm a little different than Kate Gosselin."

"I'm not saying better," she says, laughing, "but maybe separate myself from the pack a little bit."

Not that Griffin is leaving Bravo...

Year in Movies "Rap-Up"

Sick and tired of all your typical year-end lists ranking the best and worst movies, performances, tent scenes, etc? Then you’ve come to the right place.

In the spirit of trying something different, we enlisted iLLspoKinN and Rabbi Darkside (who you may recognize as a beatboxing coach from MTV’s “Made”), two of New York City’s most gifted freestyle rappers, to bring you the 2010 Year in Movies Rap-Up. The premise is simple: We held up flash cards with the names of the year’s 40 biggest films and asked them to incorporate the titles into a single freestyle session.

Warning: The following video contains no “writtens.” What you are about to see is 100 percent pure improv magic.

Ryan Gosling and Blake Lively over before they really started?

Ryan & Blake holiday update

Sorry. Totally forgot about this yesterday.

Ryan Gosling spent the holidays at home in Ontario. He stayed over a week, flew back to LA on Monday. The previous Monday however, December 27, I was contacted by 3 unrelated sources all claiming that Blake Lively was seen alone at the airport in Toronto. Very low key, no paps were called, no special attention was paid. Which is unlike her, non? That must have been an order from him. And there would have only been one reason for her to be in Toronto.

Before you pour acid in your eyes though…

Blake was in Vegas for New Year’s at that Cosmopolitan opening. And as we reported on etalk yesterday we have a lock tight, unimpeachable eyewitness who saw, like right up close, Blake “kissing and canoodling” a mystery dude that night. The fact that she’s making out with someone else would suggest that 1. whatever she had with Ryan is over or 2. whatever they have isn’t exclusive. Yet.

I hope this means that blind item was about Ryan and Rachel. OTP!

Did Darkchild Make The Cut?

lololol so if he didn't make it, this would be, what, his third time being rejected for a Britney album? flopppppppppp.

He used to be the most vocal of all the producers back in the beginning and then kind of fell off. I was wondering to myself the other day what had happened to him and if his silence meant he got rejected, or if Jive told him he was in and needed to be quiet. LOL.

Toni Braxton Considering Posing For Playboy

R&B diva Toni Braxton is working vigorously to get her career back on track after enduring several bumps within her personal and professional life. The “Unbreak My Heart” singer, who recently tweeted "New Year, New opportunities," kicks of 2011 with her new WEtv reality show "Braxton Family Values."

Outside of fans getting to know more about Braxton and her family happenings on the new gig, they may also get a glimpse at some of her physical features.

"So I have been considering taking up Playboy's offer to feature me on their cover this year,” Braxton tweeted after being approached by Playboy three times to grace the magazine’s cover. “I would love to pose with Hugh Hefner though. He's the sexiest guy I know over 30 ;-).”

But if Braxton confirms the spread, don’t expect her to reveal too much. “Of course it will be tastefully done,” she says.

It’s all about strategy and what time would be better than now for the 43-year-old bombshell. With a debt upwards of $50 million and a second bankruptcy filed in October (2010), the spread may help Braxton raise her net worth that is estimated to range from $1 million to $10 million according to court papers.  source

Howard Stern 'urged Arquette to go to rehab'

David Arquette was encouraged to enter rehab by close friend Howard Stern, it has been reported.

A source close to the star told Hollywood Life that Stern recently became alarmed for Arquette's safety after interviewing the actor on his SIRIUS XM radio show.

"Howard had to deal with past trauma with Artie Lange and he didn't want things with David to get out of hand. He respects his friendship with David and was looking to help in any way he could," the source said.

Stern's former on-air colleague Artie Lange struggled with a heroin addiction before trying to commit suicide early last year.

Arquette's Scream 4 director Wes Craven recently revealed that the star "was in a lot of pain" following his split from wife Courteney Cox.

Camille Grammar Quits Real Housewives

LOS ANGELES — Camille Grammer will not be returning for a second season of cable network Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

The soon-to-be ex-wife of actor Kelsey Grammer has been the subject of much scrutiny during the series' freshman season, which averages more than 2 million viewers a week.

Among them are her parenting habits (she has four nannies for two children), her friendships with married tennis partner Nick Stabile and real-life medium Allison Dubois. There is also her now infamous feud with co-star Kyle Richards (aunt of socialite and reality star Paris Hilton).

While a second season has yet to be officially announced by the network, a source close to production confirmed that Grammer has decided that she has no interest in participating either way.

Reports recently surfaced that Grammer who filed for divorce in July, during filming turned down a $30 million settlement from Kelsey.

Did anyone really think she would stick around? She has all the money she needs, and all this show has done is revealed to the world she is a crazy psychopath.

One Big Awkward Family

TMZ has learned ... until yesterday, Christina Aguilera was sharing her Beverly Hills home with her son, her estranged husband and her boyfriend. A moving truck showed up Tuesday ... we're told to take Jordan Bratman's stuff away, and none too soon. We're told current BF Matt Rutler moved in weeks ago.

As one source connected with the threesome put it, "Thank God Jordan is moving out. It was getting really awkward, but Christina was letting Jordan stay for the sake of Max."

As TMZ first reported ... after Christina filed for divorce Jordan wouldn't move out of the house, so Christina was staying in various L.A. hotels, but eventually moved back into the family home.

Roger Ebert can decide which word is more appropriate you guise

Film critic Roger Ebert posted this tweet today:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

He linked to this story on CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2011/SHOWBIZ/01/04/new.huck.finn.ew/index.html that reports that the latest edition of Huckleberry Finn will lose the N-word, which will now be replaced with the word "slave". But Roger Ebert feels entitled to suggest what word is better and what he would rather be called. Because, you know, he's totally been there? Here's an excerpt of CNN's story:

"What is a word worth? According to Publishers Weekly, NewSouth Books' upcoming edition of Mark Twain's seminal novel "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" will remove all instances of the N-word -- I'll give you a hint, it's not nonesuch -- present in the text and replace it with slave.

The new book will also remove usage of the word Injun. The effort is spearheaded by Twain expert Alan Gribben, who says his PC-ified version is not an attempt to neuter the classic but rather to update it. "

Some twitter users are not pleased, while others (mostly white, just sayin') totally agree with him, because they are so in the position to use the word and decide its use.

Source: http://twitter.com/ebertchicago/status/22676387810779136

Despite people's shocked tweets he has not apologized or cleared missunderstandings.

It's not that I agree with people updating Mark Twain's work, which is supposed to reflect the reality people faced back then (and I don't believe in trying to erase history, it's the only way we'll learn), but I just *really* hated that he felt the right to use the word, that he felt the right to choose which word is better (did he forget he's white?) and that he would actually say which word he would rather be called when he will never be called neither. What was he thinking? SMH.
People need to think before they tweet and they need to think more before giving their opinion on races issues.Tweet him your opinions: @ebertchicago.

James Franco on playing gay characters: 'You know what, maybe I'm just gay'

“Is James Franco gay?” is a favorite query of the pop-cultural chattering classes. It’s not like it’s unique to him: Having the public ponder your sexuality is a celebrity rite of passage. But the thing that makes Franco’s case so interesting is that, unlike the loud denials from some stars and even louder silences from others, the response from the 127 Hours star (who, for the record, has been in a years-long relationship with actress Ahna O’Reilly) is actually pretty nuanced. Franco addressed the rumor-mill mentality in an exclusive interview with EW for our recent cover story. “It’s funny because the way that kind of stuff is talked about on blogs is so black-and-white,” Franco says. “It’s all cut-and-dry identity politics. ‘Is he straight or is he gay?’ Or, ‘This is your third gay movie — come out already!’ And all based on, gay or straight, based on the idea that your object of affection decides your sexuality.”

The actor definitely doesn’t let the speculation inhibit his choice of roles; Franco’s filmography is packed with gay characters, from Allen Ginsberg in Howl, to activist Scott Smith in Milk and poet Hart Crane in his just-wrapped feature The Broken Tower. “There are lots of other reasons to be interested in gay characters than wanting myself to go out and have sex with guys,” he says. “And there are also lots of other aspects about these characters that I’m interested in, in addition to their sexuality. So, in some ways it’s coincidental, in other ways it’s not. I mean, I’ve played a gay man who’s living in the ’60s and ’70s, a gay man who we depicted in the ‘50s, and one being in the ‘20s. And those were all periods when to be gay, at least being gay in public, was much more difficult. Part of what I’m interested in is how these people who were living anti-normative lifestyles contended with opposition. Or, you know what, maybe I’m just gay.”

The prison-industrial complex is coming to get you, in Sapphique

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

By now, there's a certain comfy formula to dystopian young-adult literature. The world is wrong, the past's a ruin, and only attractive teenagers can see the truth. Catherine Fischer's Incarceron fit this pattern neatly, but her sequel delivers something new.

Spoilers ahead...

Reading the sequel, Sapphique, made me raise my opinion of Incarceron a lot, and together, the two novels form a really neat duology. A lot of the stuff that felt a bit clunky in Incarceron makes a lot more sense in Sapphique, and the two books would be great to read back-to-back.

Collapse )

Collapse )

So after reading both books, it's clear that the Incarceron/Sapphique saga isn't proof that the field of YA science fiction is getting clichéd and stale, as I'd feared — in fact, these books prove, more than ever, that YA fiction is where some of the most daring, imaginative writing about ideas is happening these days. Definitely worth checking out.

Michelle Williams Compares Sex Scenes in Blue Valentine to Black Swan

Initially, Blue Valentine was slapped with an NC-17, while the equally racy Black Swan received an R rating.

Michelle Williams, whose role as an unhappy wife in Blue Valentine recently earned her a Golden Globe, understands why.

"I think maybe it was because [Portman's] scene was more about a fantasy and mine was more about reality," she tells The Daily Beast. "…Maybe it all comes down to my [character] finding the pleasure in it. Who knows."

As for shooting her nude scenes, Williams, 30, says, "I had gained some weight and the pudginess I was feeling was almost like a costume, so it didn’t really seem as if I were nude but some other person was. All that extra flesh ironically made me feel less nude."

She doesn't want to stir up any MPAA drama with her next film, My Week With Marilyn? - in which she plays the screen siren during a week she spent in England to escape from Hollywood pressures.

Says Williams, "We want to get a PG-13 rating."

Elizabeth Olsen, sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, stars in V‘s upcoming “Discovery” issue, which features plenty of young Hollywood’s rising stars. Fashionista contributor John Ortved wrote the piece on Olsen, who was nominated by Chace Crawford to be the issue’s “New Ingenue.” John writes:

“Unlike her famous child-actor sisters, this is her first real kick at the can. Instead of using their near-infinite connections, Olsen has taken the long road – studying acting, educating herself, working as an understudy.”

Not only does she resemble her oh-so-famous sisters physically, the 21-year-old actress looks like she might have a flair for fashion as well. Styled by Catherine Newell-Hanson, Olsen pulls off that “Lauren Hutton-in-the-’70s” look with aplomb.

There’s no turning back for Garrett Hedlund. The Moment met up with the actor in a nondescript Brooklyn diner, the kind of place that Hedlund says he pictured himself working in if the whole acting thing hadn’t worked out.

Your career is at a pivotal point. What would you say is one of the biggest obstacles you had to overcome since you started acting?

My biggest thing has always been privacy. With an interview such as this where the questions are about me, I struggle to express myself. I have an immediate answer in my head of what I’d say, but sometimes I feel that it would be too honest. So these wheels of censorship start going around my head

Taylor Swift & Jake Gyllenhaal Break Up

Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal are starting 2011 single.

"They're over," a source tells PEOPLE about the short-lived relationship. "It ended last month."

No reason was given for a split, and the stars reps didn't have immediate comment, but the two spent the holidays – and their birthdays – apart.

Swift, 21, rang in 2011 in Nashville, solo, at a party, while Gyllenhaal, 30, was in New York, where he attended a closing party for Broadway's Fela! on Jan. 2. While in the Big Apple, Gyllenhaal was also spotted dining with his mother at the Spotted Pig.

After spending Thanksgiving weekend together, the two were last seen publicly together on Dec. 9 in Los Angeles.

Gyllenhaal and Swift were first spotted together in October backstage at Saturday Night Live – followed by a brunch in Brooklyn.

Jim Carrey's 'SNL' promos: He's back!

Jim Carrey is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, and holy moly, that dude has not aged at all. At all! Behold these promos, in which Carrey does not at all look 13 years older than Jason Sudeikis:

Can't watch? http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/snl-promo-jim-carrey/1267987/

This is Carrey’s second time hosting. The first was way back in 1996 — back when Norm MacDonald was doing Bob Dole and Carrey was promoting The Cable Guy. Perhaps you remember overprotective lifeguard?

Carrey’s obviously a brilliant comedian, and watching these old clips I’m struck by how high-energy and almost frantic the humor is — not just from Carrey, but from the SNL cast at the time, too. The SNL of today has a really different vibe, and I’m curious to see how Carrey plays with that.

as a child of the 90s, the lifeguard sketch is one of the most memorable SNL sketches for me

Lindsay Lohan chased by insane paparazzi

On her way to the gym, Lindsay drives the paps wild with a million questions and leads them on a stairway workout in the parking structure.

Not choosing to respond to most questions, she does say she's enjoying her workout. Funny how Lindsay's not seeming to feel it at all, but the paps are all out of breath!

poor lindsay, these paps are ridic lately - she seemed to enjoy it tho

Marsha Ambrosius' 'Far Away'

The former Floetry member takes a stand against bullying in this music video and she hopes her fans follow her footsteps.

Marsha Ambrosius devotes newly-premiered music video for her new single "Far Away" to raise awareness against bullying. Inspired by her real-life experience, the clip revolves around a gay man who is shoved aside by people in his neighborhood due to his sexual orientation.

"Far Away" is taken from Marsha Ambrosius' forthcoming solo debut album "Late Nights, Early Mornings" which is slated to arrive in the Unites States on February 22.

The message at the end of the video:
"Dear friends, every year over 1 million people commit SUICIDE. Some were BULLIED because of their SEXUALITY. I lost a friend to SUICIDE, and I'm asking all of you to support alternative lifestyles," Marsha states. "Don't put up with or join in with BULLYING. It's time we become more aware in this WORLD. Take a responsibility to make a difference. So if my MUSIC can save one life, I've done my job.

I love you all so much!

i like that she's exposing this issue to the urban community, where homophobia is still a HUGE issue

The Scientology Expose We've Been Waiting For

New Yorker staff writer and Looming Tower author Lawrence Wright is writing what his agent calls "the most profound reckoning to date" with Scientology, told through the eyes of director and apostate Paul Haggis. This should be good.

Haggis spent 35 years as a Scientologist before angrily and publicly ditching the cult in 2009 after he became convinced that leader David Miscavige is a violent nut. He hasn't spoken publicly about Scientology since, but a "blown" celebrity (to use the Scientological term for leaving the fold) like Haggis is Scientology's worst possible nightmare—it can smear and threaten rank-and-file detractors all it wants, but when one of its former leading lights is making the charges, it's harder to strike back.

More Torchwood Casting News.

Captain Jack is putting the finishing touches on his new Torchwood team. Sources confirm to me exclusively that All My Children starlet (and upcoming Grey’s Anatomy guest star) Alexa Havins has joined the upcoming fourth season of the cult smash as a series regular.

Additionally, Dollhouse beauty Dichen Lachman has signed on to guest star in the premiere.

Havins will play Esther Katusi, a CIA Watch Analyst who possesses an unshakable faith in human nature and a monster crush on colleague Rex (played by fellow T’wood rookie Mekhi Phifer). Greek‘s Amber Stevens had been circling the role.

Havins can next be seen in the Feb. 10 episode of Grey’s playing the new much younger girlfriend of Mer and Lexie’s father, Thatcher.

Details about Lachman’s character are scarce, save for that she also works at the CIA.

Also joining series stars John Barrowman and Eve Myles this coming season are Bill Pullman (as the Big Bad) and Crash‘s Arlene Tur (as a surgeon).

Season 4 of Torchwood will air stateside on Starz in a co-production deal with BBC Worldwide Prods.

They really want someone from Dollhouse, don't they?

The Harrowing Date-Rape Scene From Snooki's Book

Amidst the pages of boozing, fist-pumping, and partying in Snooki's first novel—A Shore Thing—is an alarming scene involving Bella (cousin of the main character Gia) and some preppy assholes.

So here's the setup: Gia (a fictionalized version of Snooki) and her cousin Bella are hanging out at the Jersey shore for the summer, working in a tanning salon called Tantastic. Although they spend their downtime on the hunt for "gorilla juiceheads," Bella agrees to go on a date with someone who isn't her type: A preppy named Bender. He takes her to a fancy restaurant (probably the kind with cloth napkins) and pays for an expensive meal and a bottle of champagne. While on the date, Bender starts laying it on thick, but Bella still doesn't find herself attracted to him.

No matter how hard she tried, Bella couldn't convince herself to have sex with Bender. But if she told him that, she'd hurt his feelings. And probably make him angry, considering how much he'd spent on her. Bella already felt guilty about it.

Then Bender starts coughing and tells her he has a rare blood disease called "hemotitis" and only has two months to live. With that information and enough champagne bubbling in her brain, she decides to accept an invitation to his house.

NASA says '2012' is 'most unrealistic' sci-fi movie ever

NASA and the Science and Entertainment Exchange have claimed that disaster epic 2012 is the most scientifically unrealistic film ever made. Head of NASA's Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous mission Donald Yeomans believes that Roland Emmerich's 2009 movie is an "exceptional and extraordinary" example of bad science in Hollywood.

Yeoman said that the movie "took advantage of public worries about the so-called end of the world". The films plot revolves around the 2012 apocalypse scenario supposedly predicted by the Mayan calendar.

"The agency is getting so many questions from people terrified that the world is going to end in 2012 that we have had to put up a special website to challenge the myths," Yeoman told The Times. "We've never had to do this before."

According to the plot of 2012, neutrino particles brought to Earth via solar flares would massively increase the planet's core, leading to rapid global destruction via earthquakes and other natural disasters.

Other films criticised by NASA for promoting bad science include Volcano, Armageddon, Chain Reaction and The 6th Day.

On a more positive note, NASA praised films including Blade Runner, Contact, Jurassic Park and Gattaca for their relative scientific realism.

'The Social Network' Is Getting a Theatrical Rerelease

Has there been a smoother Oscar campaign this year — or even over the last five years — than the one Sony has run for The Social Network? There's been a significant new talking point each week since its fall debut, each player has gotten his moment in the sun, potential controversies have been neatly nipped in the bud, and now, riding a wave of critical adoration, the studio has decided to rerelease the film into 600 theaters on January 7. Sure, Network comes out on DVD and Blu-ray just four days later, but with $93 million currently in the domestic till, wouldn't a big fat $100 million gross be worth it, if only to generate another few days' worth of talk?

'Man vs. Wild' Taught Lost Teen to Survive in Wilderness

Young skier used survival tips from Discovery series to combat below freezing temperatures while awaiting rescue.

The Discovery Channel's reality TV series Man vs. Wild played a big part in helping a Portland teen stranded in below freezing temperatures survive long enough for a rescue worthy of its own episode.

When 14-year-old Jake Denham became separated from his mother last Friday during a ski trip on Mt. Bachelor, he tapped into knowledge learned from the Bear Grylls-hosted show to stay calm and plan his survival in the frozen wilderness. The teen built a snow bank to stay warm during the 10 hours he was lost on the mountain, and looked to the Northstar for directions while awaiting rescue by the Mt. Bachelor Ski Patrol who launched a search mission with the National Guard and Deschutes County Search and Rescue.

On Saturday morning -- coincidentally his mother's birthday -- Denham was located, reportedly in "good condition."

"This is the best birthday present ever," his mother, Becky Denham, told local KOHD News.

Conrad Murray Hid Evidence, Guard Testifies

After a former Jackson staffer testified Tuesday that Murray appeared to not know how to perform CPR properly, security guard Alberto Alvarez said on Wednesday (January 5) that the cardiologist frantically grabbed medical evidence from the star's bedroom before instructing Alvarez to call 911.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Alvarez said he was the first person to walk into Jackson's bedroom after Murray realized his patient was not breathing, where he found the cardiologist administering chest compressions with one hand while Jackson lay on his bed, which goes against the recommended procedure for the life-saving method.

"I said, 'Dr. Murray, what happened?' " Alvarez told the court. " 'He had a bad reaction, he had a bad reaction,' that's all he said." Alvarez choked up as he described how Jackson's daughter, Paris, followed him into the room and screamed when she saw her father sprawled out and unresponsive on the bed.

Snooki sleeps in garbage cans

It's good to know that fame hasn't changed her.

Snooki sat down on Tuesday for an interview with Ellen Degeneres, and told the host about her still-hard partying life.

Recalling something the 'Jersey Shore' star had said in a previous interview, Ellen asked, "Now, when you say if you didn't black out it's a good night for you, are you serious?"

Dead serious, she said. "Yes, because I want to remember my night and sometimes I just don't. It sucks. So you're like, "What did I do? Why did I wake up in a garbage can?"

And when Ellen asks how often that happens, Snooki casually responded, "Oh, like once a month."

That being said, Snooki has no regrets, even if she does acknowledge that she has younger fans: "Well, I don't want to be a role model," she told Ellen.

Tune in for the entire episode of 'The Ellen Degeneres Show' on Wednesday.

Should Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez Be Afraid Of His Fans?

Dating (or being very close personal friends) with Justin Bieber comes with a special set of liabilities, as teen sweetheart Selena Gomez has discovered during the past few days.

After photos surfaced of the pair getting cozy on a yacht in the Caribbean, Bieber's fans got nasty about Gomez on Twitter. In fact, they moved beyond nasty to downright vicious and threatening.

George Clooney Joins 'The Monster of Florence'

Fox 2000 has closed a deal that turns the bestselling crime book The Monster of Florence into a star vehicle for George Clooney. Christopher McQuarrie and Nathan Alexander are aboard to write the script. Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen of the Jinks/Cohen Company will produce with Smokehouse's Grant Heslov, and McQuarrie.

Clooney will play Douglas Preston, who wrote the nonfiction bestseller The Monster of Florence with Italian crime reporter Mario Spezi. Preston is a thriller writer who met Spezi after moving to Italy. Together, they set out to solve a 30-year old serial murder case. Seven couples were savagely murdered between 1974 and 1985 while they sat in cars parked just outside Florence. The trail was cold when Preston moved into a nearby farmhouse and began asking questions. By that time, suspects had been let go, and authorities didn't welcome the curiosity of the writer. They threw Spezi in jail and interrogated Preston. Finally, the sleuths began putting the pieces into place and solved the murder.

The project was pitched to Fox 2000's Carla Hacken just before the holiday. She and president Elizabeth Gabler got excited enough to seal the deal just before Christmas. The producers had post-holiday meetings set around town, but they proved unnecessary and were canceled. For Clooney, this is another opportunity to make a movie in Italy, which has become his second home. Clooney is directing and starring in The Ides of March, and then joins Sandra Bullock in the Alfonso Cuarón-directed Gravity. CAA repped the book deal.

Alec Baldwin Plans Political Career

The '30 Rock' star wants to work in the US government because he "deeply cares about the middle class" and thinks many politicians are failing to deal with the problems the country faces.

He said: "Yes, it's something I'm very interested in. I do believe that people want to believe that someone who deeply cares about the middle class ... would like to seek public office.

"We've had men who are Ivy League-groomed running this country since 1988. We've had men, regardless of their background, 22 years of Yale and Harvard and the problems aren't getting solved."

Despite his political ambitions, the 52-year-old actor believes he would find it difficult to quit his current career - like actor Arnold Schwarzenegger had to do when he ran for the office of Governor of California in 2003.

He added in an interview on CNN: "People would say to me all the time, 'Why would you want to run for office?'

"And sometimes I don't want to do it, because to leave what I'm doing now would be extremely painful because I like what I'm doing now.

"To quit now where it feels good would be enormously difficult."

So Weezy doesn't like dark skinned girls?

Seems as though Lil' Wayne and Young Money don't take too well to girls that aren't light skinned...

We wrote it off as just a lyric when Lil Wayne said “Beautiful black woman, I bet that b*tch look better red” in his new song “Right Above.” But could the father of this beautiful brown-skinned girl really be color struck?

According to one of our readers, the answer is a hardy yes. Destiny, who describes herself as dark-skinned, says that derogatory statements made during a recent encounter with Wayne and his Young Money lackeys left her determined never to support the rapper again.

We met up with Mack Maine from Young Money, he then took us to a hotel a couple of other girls were there and so was Lil Wayne, Guda Guda, Lil Chuckee, and Birdman. When we entered the room Guda was like “Damn, y’all pretty, to be dark skin.” And then Wayne quoted a verse from his song ["Right Above"]. I heard the song before and I was offended when I heard the lyrics, but I brushed my feelings off and forgot about what the gremlin said. But him saying it over again made me angry as hell. So me being the outspoken person that I am, I said, “Wayne, your daughter is dark skin so why would you say such ignorance?” He said ‘My daughter is a dark skinned millionaire, that’s the difference between her and you.”

I can tell he was very upset because i bought his daughter up but that is no excuse for what he said. Next he stated, “MY daughter is the first and last dark skin child I’m having. The rest of my baby moms [are] light skinned chicks. I even got an Asian baby moms to make sure I have a daughter with good hair. Too bad we had a son.”

Everybody started laughing and [we] stormed out of the room. Some guys followed us saying “Not everybody hate dark skinned girls. Young Money just allergic to Chocolate.”

Do you believe Lil Wayne’s lyrics are born for an actual dislike from brown-skinned women. Do you think he would actually “genetically engineer” his younger children to be the opposite of the daughter he loves so much? And are his opinions and lyrics a threat to Reginae’s self-esteem?

That should do it...I am disappoint, Wayne. As a dark skinned girl, I've heard shit like this a gazillion times. But it makes me mad EVERY TIME...goddamn!

zayn→ bitch (ur favs could never)
