Donna Murphy takes her Tonys and tackles Tangled

Mother Gothel in Tangled is beyond evil -- she takes a baby away from her biological parents! And yes, the infant in question is Rapunzel, who is born with special powers through her hair. Tangled star Donna Murphy visits with us at Disneyland to take us through the regimen of becoming Disney’s newest villain.

Murphy is a Tony-Award winning Broadway veteran who steals scenes no matter the theater production in which she’s starring. There’s an old phrase to describe an actor’s ability to dominate a scene: They chew scenery. Donna Murphy devours the Tangled scenery and sets a new standard for Disney evil -- part maternal, somewhat earnest and all evil in that her motivation is purely self-centered. Perhaps in part because of her performance, Tangled is the number one movie in America after the Thanksgiving weekend.

Sure, it is the one-and-only Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi portraying Flynn -- the thief who will steal Rapunzel's heart -- that also make Tangled a four-star reviewed film, but let's be real: It is Murphy who stands out in Tangled.

SheKnows: Although she steals Rapunzel from her biological parents, don’t you see Gothel as a mother to her in a lot of ways?
Donna Murphy: As opposed to just this villainess who stole this child for the properties that her hair had that would keep her young, because that is why she stole her but she does end up being her mother, for all intents and purposes. She is the only mother that Rapunzel consciously has known in these 18 years. I think she, in some way, can’t help herself from beginning to care about Rapunzel during this time. I am positive that this is the most sustained, intimate, relationship she’s ever had and certainly the first caretaking one that she’s ever had in her life.

Blake Lively with Bakerella being adorable despite all efforts of haters (including myself).

Baking blogger, author, and all-around awesome chick Bakerella recently updated her blog to reveal a very fun night spent with none other than Blake Lively, who contacted Bakerella after learning she would be in NYC for a book signing. Adorableness ensued. Text taken from Bakerella's blog in quotes:

"Okay, so a little backstory is probably in order. It turns out that Blake loves to bake and cook. I mean loves it. She had phone pics of tons of treats that she’s made. And they’re really good, too. I don’t know when she finds the time … between movies and Gossip Girl and red carpet events. But she has quite the inventory of baked goods on her phone to prove it."

Majoring in 'Mad Men' and 5 more TV-focused college courses

Northwestern University is offering a class based on AMC's critically acclaimed drama series — and this isn't the first time academia has put TV on the syllabus

The "Mad Men" class at Northwestern University teaches students about social change in the early 1960s.
Students at Northwestern University can enroll in a class based on the AMC series "Mad Men." Assistant professor of history Michael Allen says he uses the show, set in the 1960s, to enlighten students how "shifts in the U.S. economy after World War II brought social and cultural change." The Illinois-based university is not the only institution to seek deeper meaning in the tube.

Hans Zimmer Is The New 'Superman' Composer

Superman is set to fly again in just a few short months under the supervision of director Zack Snyder, the Man of Steel's return to the big screen comes at the expense of old friend John Williams.

The Academy Award winning composer's iconic "Superman" theme will not be featured in the forthcoming reboot, reports Thompson on Hollywood. The outlet spoke with "The Dark Knight" composer Hans Zimmer at a recent "Inception" DVD/Blu-ray release party, and Zimmer confirmed that he'll be taking on the new "Superman" movie's musical responsibilities.

Zimmer said that his work on "Superman" will only come after he's completed scoring on "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "Sherlock Holmes 2" and "Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom."

Earlier in the week, Zimmer spoke with NBC San Diego about the challenges of tackling a franchise that already has a memorable score, such as "Superman."

“It's a hard one,” said Zimmer, “but I followed one of the most iconic things on 'Batman' with [Christopher Nolan] as well, and it's the same thing. You are allowed to reinvent, but you have to try to be as good or at least as iconic and it has to resonate and it has to become a part of the zeitgeist. That's the job. On 'Gladiator' I remember people always talking about 'Spartacus' and I kept telling them, 'When you saw "Spartacus" and how it affected it you, that's how I want a modern audience to be affected by what we do now.' So I think ultimately you're supposed to reinvent.”

EXCLUSIVE: Hans Zimmer Scoring 'Superman'? Not So Fast.

As expected with information on the Internet, it travels fast and can get miscontrued. Last week word spread faster than a speeding bullet that Hans Zimmer was going to be doing the music for the new Superman movie, being directed by Zack Snyder. ("Hans Zimmer to replace iconic Superman score,” said Entertainment Weekly.)

Part of the fuel comes from the fact that Christopher Nolan, for whom Zimmer did the music for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Inception, is producing the new movie.

He is expected to reteam with Nolan for The Dark Knight Rises, as the third movie is titled, but as for Superman, Zimmer says the rumours aren't true (at least not yet), and they have been allowed to bounce around the Internet because his long time publicist Ronni Chasen was murdered three weeks ago.

We’ll let Zimmer speak his mind to THR’s Kevin Cassidy.

THR: The internet is buzzing with rumors that you’ve signed on to Zack Snyder’s Superman project. Any truth to that?
Hans Zimmer: You know, it’s like some dirty quote taken out of context. Let’s just be absolutely straight here: I have never in my life met Zack Snyder. I think I need to give him a ring. But here’s the thing: No Ronni [Chasen]. Suddenly all sorts of stuff starts flowing around with no warning.
THR: So if Ronni was still around this probably wouldn’t be happening?
Zimmer: No! Absolutely not! You know, I can’t even remember ever talking about Superman. It's a little bit, you know, it’s a little bit like "guilty by association" isn’t it?
THR: Because of Batman?
Zimmer: I met Chris Nolan once and he knows Zack Snyder and therefore I’m doing Superman. You know that’s all it is.
THR: It may stem from the fact a lot of people would like to see you take that project. Based on the Batman films.
Zimmer: How can I say it: My heart belongs to Batman. I wouldn’t even know how to go and give voice to it. I haven’t thought about it.
THR: Not to mention following in the footsteps of John Williams.
Zimmer: Right! John Williams, the greatest living composer -- full stop. And that happens to be one of his greatest themes. So no. And I’m not thinking of rewriting Beethoven’s ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that’s unequivocally a no. I have never spoken with Zack Snyder.

I am fascinated by Kanye West on every level. I thought his first two albums, 2004's College Dropout and 2005's Late Registration, were and remain some of the strongest, most diverse and imaginative hip-hop collections of the decade.

As a producer and rapper, his imagination seems limitless — he covers more ground in his cultural references than any other contemporary pop musician under the age of 40. He's also, depending on your point of view, a sensitive soul or an egomaniac of the highest order. At this point, West is like Blue-period Jon

West's new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is one of the year's most anticipated albums. And in "Runaway," a nine-minutes-plus opus, West takes himself to task for being an arrogant perfectionist who can "always find something wrong."

Robert Downey Jr. favored for 'Inherent Vice'.

It was an unfortunate turn of events when Paul Thomas Anderson's upcoming film, 'The Master,' was "postponed indefinitely." We were losing our chance to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a man who makes his own faith-based organization, and turns a drifter (Jeremy Renner) into his "lieutenant." However, though the world of creative modern religion remains outside our cinematic grasp, Anderson might just have found a worthy substitute in the satirical, postmodern framework of Thomas Pynchon.

'Black Swan' Director Pulling For Best Kiss MTV Movie Award

Darren Aronofsky's psychological ballet fantasy "Black Swan" is so full of metaphors, arresting imagery and memorable performances by stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, one would think filmgoers and critics would come away with endless topics to discuss. And yet, that hasn't been the case, as much of the publicity blitz has zeroed in on the movie's sex scenes and the actresses awkwardly rehashing filming details.

Regardless, one "sexy" aspect director Aronofsky was more than willing to address is his potential nomination and win for Best Kiss at next year's MTV Movie Awards.

"Do you think we're going to win the MTV Best Kiss?" he asked MTV News when we caught up with him recently to discuss the film.

"Is that what you're going for?" we countered.

"Absolutely," he said. "Only to see Mila and Natalie kiss again."

Ryan Gosling and Blue Valentine Director Derek Cianfrance to Reteam

Derek Cianfrance has spent so many years working on his passion project Blue Valentine that come March, when the film has finished its theatrical and awards-season run, he's somewhat concerned about letting it go. "I'm a little nervous, actually," he told Vulture at the Gotham Awards this week. "I feel a little lost. You know, what am I going to do? I might crash." Luckily, he intends to keep busy: Cianfrance revealed that he will reteam with his Blue Valentine star Ryan Gosling in the summer for his next film, the Jack London–inspired The Place Beyond the Pines, and he's also developing a TV show for HBO. "I can't tell you what [the show's] about," he teased, "but I can tell you that we're gonna try to give new meaning to the word 'character development.'" Since Cianfrance had Gosling and Michelle Williams live together and improv "fight days" during the months it took to shoot Blue Valentine, interested actors should know that when he says "character development," he means business.

So has Cianfrance kept in close contact with Gosling, since they're about to work together again? "You don't have to talk to someone every day to know that you love that person. I just sent him a YouTube clip, though. You know 'You Always Hurt the Ones You Love,' the song from the trailer? It's spawned all these people on YouTube that are playing that song and doing it and all these tablature sites, people trying to learn how Ryan did it. So I sent it to Ryan because it's kind of cool that it caught on. I mean, there were only eleven people that viewed it. But he taught himself how to play that on ukulele and now all these people are coming out of the woodwork, all these fans who play the uke, trying to teach themselves, and now there are all these YouTube videos of people singing 'You Always Hurt the Ones You Love.' I mean, there's like eleven views on them, but it's cool. It's so nice that people are taking it on their own. That's what's so great about this movie."

And what did Gosling have to say about the online groundswell? "His response was, 'No way!!!' Exclamation, exclamation, exclamation."

Josh Duhamel kicked off flight

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Josh Duhamel was escorted off of a plane yesterday after he refused to turn off his BlackBerry ... sources tell TMZ.

We're told Duhamel was on a flight from New York (LGA) to Kentucky -- when, according to sources, the flight attendant asked Duhamel to turn off his BlackBerry before takeoff ... but he refused.

One passenger tells us Duhamel was "very rude" and "taunting the attendant."

We're told the flight attendant asked Josh to turn off the device three separate times -- and on the third time Josh laughed at her request.

We're told Duhamel's reaction infuriated the attendant, who then called for backup -- and the plane, which was already on the runway, was turned back to the gate.

Two officers eventually boarded the plane and escorted Duhamel off of the aircraft.

We're told passengers were pissed -- because the incident further delayed the flight.

Duhamel's rep told TMZ Josh was texting on his BlackBerry about his flight being delayed. The rep adds, "He's sorry."

Julian Lennon to Publish Unseen John Lennon Letter

IT is a heartfelt plea from a father missing his young son.

This previously unseen letter from John Lennon to his wife Cynthia spells out his regret at not being there for his boy Julian as Beatlemania shook the world.

The note has been released by Julian from a collection of treasured memories he has of his dad.

From photos to song lyrics, they chart the relationship of John and his son over the years, as fame and fortune overtake their life.

But Julian had to amass the collection himself as he was left very little after his father was shot dead in 1980. The letter, written in 1965, spells out John’s heartache at not being with Cynthia and the couple’s two-year-old. He writes: “I really miss him as a person now. He’s not so much ‘The Baby’ or my baby any more he’s a real living part of me now.

“I can’t wait to see him, I miss him more than ever – I think it is been a slow process feeling like a real father! I spend hours in dressing rooms thinking about the times I’ve wasted not being with him – and playing with him. I keep thinking of those stupid b*****d times when I keep reading bloody newspapers and other s**t whilst he’s in the room with me and I’ve decided it’s ALL wrong.”

The letter is one of a trove of Julian’s keepsakes he has published in a new book. There is also a 1968 postcard he sent his dad from Italy. Cynthia had fled to Pesaro with their son, then three, and mum after John admitted having affairs and confessed his relationship with Yoko Ono.

And the book contains a 1964 programme from the Olympia Theatre in Paris where The Beatles played for 20 nights – for £50.

#TheWalking Dead producer discuss the show's future

Executive producer and comics creator Robert Kirkman commented on the somewhat bizarre reports about the entire writing staff being fired. He said the story was basically false, it reflected unfairly on showrunner Frank Darabont, and that the only departure was that of Charles 'Chic' Eglee. Kirkman explained why this happened:

"Chic Eglee is a high-level television writer. He was brought onto The Walking Dead with the idea that Frank was going to work on the first season and then go off and do movies. Chic didn't want to be second-in-command on a show when he's used to being a top dog, and so he decided to go off and do something else, which is something that happens and is not a big deal."

Kirkman did leave open the distinct possibility that this story might eventually be true, and that Darabont is seriously considering the freelance model:
It's a little premature to be nailing down. I don't know if it's going to be a freelance situation or if we're going to have writers in a writers' room. That's something that's being worked on now. Everybody knows what they're doing. AMC has done a few television shows before, and Frank Darabont is a professional. Whatever is decided, I don't think it will affect the show one way or another."

Zach Levi of 'Chuck' shows voice range in 'Tangled'

LOS ANGELES -- Zachary Levi and Dustin Hoffman have something in common -- they both bowed out of Mel Brooks productions after being cast by the legendary comic director.

In Hoffman's case, he was supposed to play the crazy Nazi Franz Liebkind in the 1967 classic comedy The Producers, but he told Brooks the night before shooting that he had taken the starring role in The Graduate, which happened to co-star Brooks' wife, Anne Bancroft.

Levi, a Ventura native and Studio City resident, won the lead role in the Broadway musical version of Brooks' Young Frankenstein.

"It was really just bonkers, the whole process," says the 30-year-old Levi, who stars in Disney's 50th animated film, Tangled.

The actor had just agreed to shoot the pilot for Chuck, the NBC comedy-spy series which is in its fourth year, when he got the chance to audition for Brooks and director Susan Stroman. "I was so unbelievably nervous that my legs were shaking, I had to stomp them in time to the music so they wouldn't notice."

Levi left the tryout thinking he did OK, though he didn't expect to get the role. A couple of callbacks later, he won the part, but when Chuck was picked up he had to drop out of his chance to star on Broadway.

"Mel Brooks -- from what I heard -- was a little perturbed about that," says Levi. "But it wasn't my fault, at least."

While Tangled doesn't give Levi a chance to dance, the 3-D animated film does give him a chance to sing, including two duets with Mandy Moore, who voices Rapunzel in the twist on the classic fairy tale.

Levi is the voice of Flynn Rider, a bandit with a good heart, who stumbles upon the tower where the princess has been hidden by a witch who had stolen her at birth.

Moore believes Levi's singing will "astonish audiences. He has a beautiful voice that is perfect for something like this."

Adding to the mystery, the leading suspect in the murder reportedly committed suicide, according to The Daily Beast.

Voldemort Takes Manhattan

Apparently, even evildoers need to get away. NextMovie has obtained exclusive footage of what appears to be “Harry Potter” supervillain Voldemort vacationing in New York City recently.

It’s not entirely surprising that Voldy went on break. From what we saw in “Deathly Hallows Pt. 1,” things are going swimmingly for the noseless fella, with the Death Eaters firmly in control of the constituency and Harry et al on the run.

So what do we learn about Voldemort? Well, he’s not above fanny packs, and like many Americans, two of his favorite things in life appear to be chain restaurants and naked women.

Spider-Man Gets a Set of Parents and Another Villain

Campbell Scott has joined the cast of Columbia’s new Spider-Man movie while Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse and Julianne Nicholson are in various stages of discussions to also join the production.

The movie, under the direction of Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, begins production this month in Los Angeles and is in the latter stages of its casting process.

Scott and Nicholson (Law & Order: Criminal Intent) will be Parker’s parents, who leave their son an orphan. Parker’s parents have rarely been seen in the various Marvel comic book series and have never appeared on-screen. It is unclear if they will appear in flashbacks, in a prologue or during the course of the movie.

Khan, best known for his work in Slumdog Millionaire, is playing a villain named Van Atter, joining Rhys Ifans as the movie’s bad guys.

Parisse, who appeared most recently in couple of episodes of AMC’s Rubicon, will be the villain’s wife.

Scott, repped by Paradigm, recurs on TV’s Royal Pains and also appeared in Damages.

Mariah Carey 'happy baby will be accepted'

Mariah Carey has revealed that she's pleased her child will not have to face the same prejudices that she did growing up.

The singer, whose mother is Irish-American and father is African-American, explained that she felt like an "outcast" when she was younger.

She said that she believes President Barack Obama has contributed to a "new world" where ethnic diversity is more accepted.

Carey, who is expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon, explained to British Pride: "Having Obama in office and bringing a child into the world at this point is totally different than me feeling like an outcast when I was growing up and not feeling like it was okay to be ethnically diverse, and I can't believe that we have arrived at this point within society."

The 40-year-old explained that growing up not looking the same as either her mother or father was an unusual thing for her but is happy that her baby will not feel the same.

She added: "I think it's a little bit easier now because the world has changed just in terms of identifying yourself.

"That always felt like a strange thing to me as a child, not looking the same as your own mother of father was a very different thing back then."

‘It’s a Lot of Pressure’: Jesse Eisenberg Reacts to NBR Win, Awards Season

"The acknowledgments don’t necessarily coincide with how you feel about things."

Thursday afternoon, I met Jesse Eisenberg at a New York City dive bar — coincidentally named “Social” — for a pretty sprawling interview that will publish here next week. As he was en route, he heard the news that he had won the National Board of Review’s Best Actor award for his performance in The Social Network (which also claimed the group’s Best Picture and Best Director prizes). I asked Eisenberg about winning that award and what the awards season — and his real first go around with it — means to him.

“The first movie I was in was called Roger Dodger,” Eisenberg said. “And the main actor in that [Campbell Scott], he won this award, the National Board of Review award. And it was the first time I ever considered… Because I had acted since I was young — 8 years old — doing children’s theater, and I was doing plays in New York. When he won that award, I remember that day where I was because I had never heard of that award nor did I pay attention to any awards. And then I was kind of exposed, very briefly, because the movie was a $1 million movie. After he won that award, the movie people and the distribution company got a little bit confident about what that could be, at least for him.

Kanye West: I understand why America's apprehensive towards me

Kanye West covers the latest issue of I.D Magazine’s Back To The Future Issue.  Inside, he shares his experience during his brief hiatus from “celebrity”, his friendship with Jay-z and the qualities he looks for in a woman.

On the qualities he looks for in a woman?
Integrity. I’m a hopeless romantic and I’m looking and trying to decide who the mother of my child will be. It’s not going to be based off a whim of being in love; she has to bring a certain level to the table. I want to be married, I want that super dope counterpart, that one woman, but she has to be super-fresh, super-smart and not overwhelmed, because being with me is gonna be a job (laughs). She can’t be overwhelmed by her career. I’ll find her, maybe I’ll be 38… maybe I’m not fully who I am yet, maybe that’s why I haven’t found her… The main quality is that you know that this person will ride or die for you. Whether she’s mad at you, whether she’s with you or not, she still loves you, she still bigs you up in any circle. She doesn’t talk down about you to other people. That’s the main thing I need.

Audrey Tautou's style evolution

French import Audrey Tautou first charmed Hollywood with her pixie Parisian look in "Amélie," and although her own style is more refined, it still has an ethereal allure that's oh-so-French.

Audrey's developed her look over the years and playing the part of Coco Chanel onscreen last year only helped. We'd say she's found a mélange between classic and quirky, perfect for her tiny frame and (quickly-growing) boyish haircut.

Take a look at Audrey's style evolution and tell us which of her outfits are hits and which are misses.

Forty and fabulous: Ageless Heather Graham still looks in her twenties

Fresh Faced: Heather Graham looks gorgeous as she promotes her new documentary show in Seoul, South Korea yesterday

How does she do it?
Austin Powers actress Heather Graham turns 41 next month but she doesn't look a day over 25.
The star looked stunning in a sleek black corset dress as she took the stage to promote the new documentary series Hansik in Seoul, South Korea, yesterday.

Heather's fresh-faced and radiant appearance along with her naturally slender figure makes her look much younger than she is - almost as if she stopped ageing in her twenties.

The star, who rose to fame due to her role in Boogie Nights in 1997, was in South Korea to talk about a new documentary series she has filmed which tells the story of Korea through its food.

The theme will see the remaining five acts all perform one dancefloor classic as well as another song of their choice.

The second song must be a song the acts believe can get them into the grand final of the show.

Speaking to the official X Factor website, vocal coach Yvie Burnett said: "This is the most important song choice so far. We have got absolutely every type of act you want in this semi-final.

"Everyone is getting really stroppy, really grumpy, really tense and nobody can decide on their songs. This week is crucial."

What would you pick for the acts to do as Club Classics?

Sean and Yoko Give Oral for a Good Cause

John Lennon’s son Sean says he used to be upset that he couldn’t take the bus to school like other children.

“That was a dangerous time because there was a lot of people trying to kidnap me and stuff,” the 35-year-old musician recalls in a conversation with his mother, Yoko Ono, that they recorded for an oral history project that urges people to listen to the stories of friends and loved ones.

Lennon, whose ex-Beatle father was shot to death in 1980, says he would make his limousine driver drop him off two blocks away “so I could walk to the school.”

The three minute conversation, which can be heard here online, was recorded for Friday’s National Day of Listening, a project that has collected more than 30,000 Americans’ personal interviews with a friend or family member, all archived at the Library of Congress in Washington.

Ono, now 77, talks about her father, a San Francisco banker, whom she met for the first time when she was 2½ years old. “The time that I met him, my mother and my father were kissing,” and she remembers thinking, “Well, maybe he’s going to kiss me, too.”

Ono says her mother’s family was “very rich.” Her father, Lennon recalls, came from a “posh conservative family” that later “essentially disowned” Ono. She says that was because she was “having a very outlandish life.”

Foursquare TV Series in the Works

SAN FRANCISCO — Foursquare, a popular startup that lets people share their location with friends through a mobile app, is working with production company Endemol USA to create a television series.

The companies said Thursday that they signed an exclusive development deal to come up with a show in which Foursquare is "meaningfully integrated." The companies' statement does not give further details about what a potential series could look like.

Foursquare allows users to check in anywhere they go and see where their friends are hanging out. Users earn rewards in the form of virtual badges that show up on users' profiles once they've earned a certain number of check-in points or complete a task, such as riding a ferry. Users can become "mayors" by checking in at a location more than any other visitor.

Foursquare CEO and co-founder Dennis Crowley said the company hopes to grow by working with Endemol. The startup currently has almost 5 million users, and they check in with the site more than 1.5 million times each day.

Endemol is a unit of Endemol Group and produces shows including "Deal or No Deal" and "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

Victoria’s Secret Saves Dark Skinned Models for “Wild Things” Segment

You gotta give it to Victoria’s Secret for giving the $2 million bra to Brazilian model Adriana Lima for the most watched runway show on the planet. But for the rest of the show, they seemed to feature models of color in interesting situations, including ones that had them parading around performers engaged in what’s supposed to be indigenous dance.

The Victoria Secret Fashion Show, which aired on CBS, opened with a complete line up of light skinned models.

While dark skinned models were sprinkled throughout the show, they seemed to have lined them up so they could all be part of the “Wild Things” segment of the show.

This year’s show, called “A Night of a Thousand Fantasies,” included six different themes said to represent different types of women; tough love, game on, country girls, heavenly bodies, pink and wild things.
Yes, wild things… the segment that included tribal dancers and all the models of color in the show. Just pay close attention to the line up of models in the opening and closing segments.

Parks and Recreation': Co-creator Mike Schur teases Season 3 romance, scheduling and more
By Rick Porter

Picture by normandapita from Deviant Art

Thursday (Dec. 2) marks exactly seven weeks until "Parks and Recreation" returns to NBC on Jan. 20. And when it does, co-creator Mike Schur says, the show's cast and crew will be throwing what may be the first ever season premiere-slash-wrap party.

Schur and the rest of the "Parks and Rec" team initially had planned on being on the air this fall -- even shooting the first six episodes of Season 3 in the spring so star Amy Poehler could go on maternity leave without interrupting the schedule. Then NBC decided to push the show to midseason, which means that production will have wrapped before the season premiere.

"We're currently writing our finale, which is crazy," Schur told Zap2it shortly before the show went on its Thanksgiving break. "We're going to shoot the finale, and then a month later our premiere will happen."

Schur also talked with us about what we'll see in Season 3, finally getting to air after "The Office," the effect of shooting an entire season before it airs and more. Highlights of our conversation follow.

Only 16 episodes? Is NBC insane?  I like cable runs, but the writers of "Parks & Recreation" did such a great job at keeping all the episodes at the same quality last season. Also, the season 2 DVDs came out and they are awesome! 15 minutes of bloopers!

Wall Street Journal Maybe Thinks Bob Dylan Should Retire

Editorially predisposed towards limited government intervention and the rights of the individual, the Wall Street Journal does not make a habit out of telling aging musical icons to retire. So why is the paper urging Bob Dylan to call it quits now after five decades of good music, bad music, and weird movies? It all has to do with the fact he no longer sounds like Bob Dylan. At first blush, this would not seem to be a terrible thing--the word "good" rarely comes up in discussions of Bob Dylan's voice. Unfortunately, his new voice is even worse, more befitting a blue muppet than the man who sang Shelter From The Storm. John Jurgensen explains:

Most alarming to listeners devoted to his seminal recordings: the state of Mr. Dylan's voice, decades on from its first signs of deterioration...though he never had a conventionally pretty voice—that was part of its power—lately he's been sounding like a scatting Cookie Monster. On stage, he strums an electric guitar and blows on a harmonica but spends more time at an upright organ, vamping.

Someday the name Blahblah will be up in lights!

Former "Mad Men" mistress Abigail Spencer has been cast in "This Means War," an action comedy starring Reese Witherspoon.

The project is currently shooting in British Columbia with McG ("Charlie's Angels") in the director's chair.

The story follows two best friends (played by Chris Pine, Tom Hardy), who are also covert agents. They fall in love with the same woman (Witherspoon), setting in motion a spy vs. spy battle for the woman's heart. Spencer plays Hardy's ex-wife.

The actress is best known for her work last season in "Mad Men," where she played elementary school teacher -- and Don Draper mistress -- Miss Farrell.

She has been on a bit of a roll since, nabbing an appearance in "Cowboys & Aliens" and booking a starring gig in "The Haunting in Georgia," which will shoot early next year.

“She’s going to be relying on me to protect her.” Says Palin, after Kate hears that there may be bears lurking nearby

Arcade Fire Slam Bands Who Live Cliche Rock And Roll Lifestyle

They're more into the music...

Arcade Fire have condemned the cliché view of rock and roll - and said the lifestyle doesn’t appeal to them.

Singer Win Butler told the Observer the band were more interested in focusing on their music.

“We're not a band that's out to party until we die every night,” he said.

“We did a lot of shows with a lot of bands that were living that dream, but it's a dream I never bought into. It never seemed that fun.

“In fact, it was always kind of embarrassing to me. That isn't what I think is cool about rock."

Meanwhile, Butler’s wife and band member Régine Chassagne also said the band would scale down their current arena shows if they felt it wasn’t right for them.

"If it stops feeling organic, we'll stop doing it,” she said. “I have no ambition to be the biggest or the bestselling. That kind of thing is not why I, or any of us, play music.”

The Kardashian’s Beauty Tip? Putting Mayo on Their Lady Bits!

The Kardashians appeared on ‘Conan’ Thursday night to discuss their love lives, new book and a very curious grooming tip: shining the vagina with mayonnaise.

Inspired by a discussion of their Twitter accounts, Kourtney relayed their unique tip to fans:

“I told Khloe that I found her sex mask under my bed, that she’s been looking for, and then she wrote me back, ‘Oh my god, I found your jar of mayonnaise that you use on your vagina,’” she told host Conan O’Brien. “And we were talking back and forth and people were like, what does mayonnaise on your vagina do? And we said it makes it shine like the top of the Chrysler Building.”

Sister Kim, perhaps the most reserved of the sisters, was not pleased with the exchange. “Don’t you guys realize that most of our fans are under the age 18 and you are bad influences on them? Talking about putting mayonnaise on your thing is not appropriate,” she scolded her sisters.

Khloe’s response? “Follow at your own risk.”

While Kim clarified that the girls didn’t actually use mayo on their genitals – though Khloe teased, “how do you know?” – they did discuss other personal matters, like proposed endorsement deals for customized sex toys for Khloe and husband Lamar Odom, and butt enhancement pills for Kim.

Most Controversial Movies of All Time

Jim Carrey's latest film, 'I Love You Phillip Morris,' may be premiering this week but it's already been generating controversy for months. Based on the true story of Steven Jay Russell, a con man who fell in love with his fellow inmate Phillip Morris while in prison and then spent years escaping from jail over and over in order to create a fantasy life together, 'I Love You Phillip Morris' has languished in film purgatory for over a year and a half despite acclaimed performances from Carrey and co-star Ewan McGregor. The main reason? Distributors are still worried over how audiences will react to the gay relationship at the center of the story.

As Hollywood controversies go, however, the one over 'I Love You Phillip Morris' has turned out to be relatively small, thanks, no doubt, to the groundbreaking work done by 'Brokeback Mountain' five years ago. But the chatter surrounding 'I Love You Phillip Morris' still got us thinking: Which films were so controversial that they continue to spark debate and argument even today?

With that in mind, then, and in honor of the release of 'I Love You Phillip Morris,' here's a look at our picks for the Most Controversial Movies of All Time:

Tom Kitt Writing A Musical for Robert Downey Jr.

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has closed a deal for an untitled musical comedy that will be developed as a potential star vehicle for Robert Downey Jr. The script and lyrics will be written by Brian Yorkey and the music will be composed by Tom Kitt. That's the duo best known for the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera Next To Normal, which won 3 Tony Awards, including Best Score. The musical opened last Sunday in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre.

I'm told that Yorkey and Kitt developed the idea with Anonymous Content's Joy Gorman, with Downey and his Team Downey partner Susan Downey aboard to produce with Anonymous Content.

The hope is for Downey--a gifted singer--to play one of two Broadway songwriters who find themselves creatively and financially bankrupt when their big-break musical is a huge flop. Searching for some inspiration for their comeback, they take jobs as counselors, teaching singing and dancing at the theater camp they attended as kids. Yorkey and Kitt were repped in the deal by WME, Downey by CAA.
