Portia vs. Australia (spoiler: Portia wins)

De Rossi accused of sexism after 'refusing' male interview

Hollywood star Portia de Rossi has been accused of hypocrisy after Sunrise host David Koch revealed she refused to be interviewed by him because he is a man.

The Australian-born actress appeared on the top-rating Channel Seven morning program on Tuesday to publicise her new memoir, Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain, but would speak only to Koch's female co-hosts, the network said.

A Seven spokeswoman this morning confirmed de Rossi's no-men policy, saying Sunrise producers were told her stance was "not just for Australia, it's for around the world".

Koch took to Twitter yesterday to vent his frustration, accusing the star of double standards.

"Portia de Rossi would only be interviewed by a woman. Am I weird in thinking that's strange. Be outrage if a man made that a condition," Koch wrote. bawwww moar

"Portia has campaigned, quite rightly, for gay rights and equality. Then insists on only being interviewed by women. Hypocritical? U tell me?"

Radio network Austereo today confirmed it had tried to secure an interview with de Rossi by presenters Hamish and Andy this week, but was told the star's preference was to speak to a female. Presenter Fifi Box conducted the interview yesterday instead.

Austereo public relations manager Chelsea Kelly said the program was not advised of a blanket ban on men.

"The word used yesterday to us was 'preference' - it was her preference to speak to a woman," Kelly said.

"Keri Hilson Represents Black Girls On Jones Magazine"

Uberhottie, Keri Hilson lends her beauty to the cover of Jones magazine for their 'Black Girls Rock!' issue this winter. Now, we normally don't have a problem with Keri Hilson because of how photogenic she is, but, doesn't her face look a bit.... photoshopped in this picture?? In the words of Ed Lover 'C'mon, Son!'. An Interview With Mekenna Melvin (Alex, 'Chuck')

At some point in our adult lives, we all must make a choice about which path to follow. The percentage of those who choose to follow the entertainment path is staggeringly low. Some actors will spend years and years trying to nab that one role that will turn them into big stars -- and most never make it that far.

Imagine making that choice, jumping in head first and coming out a big winner right off the bat? Such is the case with Mekenna Melvin, a beautiful young woman who decided to become an actor and almost immediately scored roles opposite television stars such as Tim Roth, Alex O'Loughlin and Michael Imperioli.

Mekenna then managed to snag the highly coveted role as John Casey's long lost daughter Alex on the NBC spy drama Chuck.
Chuck's incredible fan base instantly fell in love with Mekenna and have been quick to embrace this new character -- and it certainly doesn't hurt that Morgan gets a new love interest and more importantly, we finally get to see the softer side of John Casey to boot!

I had the opportunity to chat with this absolutely lovely young woman about breaking into the acting world and her role on Chuck...

Q: Two years ago, you didn't have any acting credits to your name and you went from that to working with some of television's biggest actors, how did you go from 0 to 60 so quickly?
Mekenna: "I don't know. There was so much work that led up to it -- there was auditioning all the time and classes. For me, it was just a lot of hitting a brick wall for a long time. Once you're given a shot, it opens up more doors. Chuck was a complete fairytale. I was booked as a one line, one word co-star and have that turn into a recurring guest star, so I'm counting my blessings."

If Bristol Palin Wins, 'Dancing' Is Ruined

At first, having Bristol Palin participate in 'Dancing With The Stars' seemed like a brilliant idea. Just like Kate Gosselin before her, casting an admittedly bad dancer who was shrouded in controversy has raked in big ratings and tons of press. But now the joke is on the show's producers, as they fear Bristol is actually going to win this thing.

"This will be a disaster for the show if Bristol wins," one TV insider tells me. "Any creditability the show had will be over. It will go from being a dancing competition to a popularity competition where whoever has the most rabid fan base will always win no matter how little talent they have."

And while it's true Bristol's dancing has dramatically improved since the season began, no one with working eyes would put her in the same league as the other remaining stars, Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey.

"Another problem the producers foresee is that after Bristol wins no one in Hollywood will ever want to be on the show again," a well-placed ABC source tells me. "Why would a real star want to compete and lose against someone like [former U.S. Senate candidate] Christine O'Donnell or Levi Johnston. It's humiliating. The producers know they are in big trouble for sure."

And it's not just future contestants and viewers that the show needs to worry about. A friend of one of the judges tells me Bristol has made a fool out of all of them. It's now painfully obvious that the judge's scores and opinions mean nothing.

Let's hope they are all wrong and next season the show gets back to what it does best, dancing.

Lindsay LoLhan Losing 'Inferno' Role?!

Hosted by

Lindsay Lohan is all smiles while leaving her outpatient house to head out for dinner on Thursday (November 18) in Palm Desert, Calif.

The 24-year-old actress has been in rehab at the Betty Ford Clinic, where a judge ordered her to remain in treatment until January 3.

But Lindsay’s stay at the center may cost her some work.

The director of her upcoming film Inferno has reportedly considered recasting Lindsay’s starring role, in which she plays X-rated film star Linda Lovelace.

“You know we have been through a lot with this project, and although she is still our number one choice, we do have a Plan B if she cannot film Inferno,” director Matthew Wilder told RadarOnline.

4Chan Censors Itself

The notorious message board 4chan's young founder has fashioned himself as a champion of extreme free speech on the Internet. But blatant censorship is occurring on 4chan right now, after its users attacked a target too close to home.

4chan's founder, 22-year-old Christopher "Moot" Poole, defends his messy creation with pronouncements that "the greater good is being served" by having a place for unfettered, anonymous free speech on the Internet. But currently, any post containing the word "Tumblr" is censored by 4chan. (Try it!) 4chan regularly features child porn and gory crime scene pics like something out of a Tarantino film; why is the name of a hip, New York-based blogging platform so offensive?

The filter is left over from last week's nerdy 4chan-Tumblr War, in which 4channers attacked Tumblr users for ripping off their jokes. During the attack, 4chan's moderators engaged in some unusual self-sabotage, as detailed in 4chan's wiki-of-record. (Yes, even 4chan has moderators.) They installed the word filter to systematically purge any mention of Tumblr from the board, crippling 4channers' attempts to organize. Users were banished from 4chan for days simply for replying to threads about the war, and the Tumblr ban remains in place today. Had the attack been left unchecked, 4chan's users likely would have done much greater damage to Tumblr, which didn't really experience any notable downtime.

The Hollywood Reporter reviews Burlesque, manages to praise the movie & actors while doing so!

It has to be one of the oldest stories in the Hollywood playbook: Ingenue comes to Tinseltown and becomes an overnight sensation, which inspires romance, conflicts and animosities.

But this tale gets a vibrant makeover in writer-director Steve Antin's toe-tapping, flamboyantly skin-deep musical Burlesque. Yes, it's only skin-deep, and so what? Perhaps because they're so rarely attempted these days, recent musicals have felt a self-conscious need to dig for significance, whether it be artistic malaise (Nine), racial inequality (Dreamgirls) or media manipulation (Chicago). Burlesque stays aggressively on the surface, reveling in its artificiality.

Willow Smith in W Magazine

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It’s hard to imagine, but Willow Smith has twice the charisma of her superstar parents, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. At just 10 years old, she has already scored a hit single—“Whip My Hair,” which bumps as hard as anything by Beyoncé—and a contract with Jay-Z’s powerhouse Roc Nation.

“I like the way Billy Idol sings,” she says about her musical influences. “Mommy turned me on to him. And I like Lady Gaga’s songs.” One-on-one, Willow is more articulate than many adults; what’s more amazing is that she comes off as a normal kid who’s just following her interests. “I can’t do whatever I want,” she explains. “Mommy has to say it’s okay.”

Although she is “focusing on music right now,” it seems a given that Willow will eventually end up on the big screen; her brother Jaden became a celebrity in his own right after taking the lead role in the recent Karate Kid remake. “Mommy and Daddy inspired me to be a performer,” Willow says. “I get my flow from Daddy, my singing ability from Mommy, and the camera stuff from both. That’s just what happens when you hang out with the Smiths!”

Rihanna lightens up, in her life as well as in her music

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A half-dozen meeting postponements, several 11th-hour time switches, instructions to meet at a dive that's closed — is this the way Rihanna treats all of her men?

"All of my men?"
asks the seemingly puzzled dance-pop queen, who has just emerged only slightly late from an SUV and settled into her favorite table at a fashionable trattoria. "My boyfriend has it much worse," she says with a coy smile.

That would be poor Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who has been her steady "for about nine months" and presumably has adjusted to the craziness that swirls non-stop around 22-year-old Robyn Rihanna Fenty ("Ri Ri" to her fans).

The tug-and-pull on her time has increased exponentially recently. She has just released her fifth album, Loud; is continuing to film her big-screen acting debut in Peter Berg's Battleship, due in 2012; changed management teams; added her 14th tattoo (rebelle fleur, French for "rebellious flower"), on her neck; started planning a tour, "probably for next summer"; and has been rehearsing for the opening number of Sunday's American Music Awards (airing live at 8 p.m. ET on ABC).

"I can't really say what we're doing" for the AMAs, she says, "but you will hear new material. It's all about love."

Randy Jackson: New MJ vocals are 'fake'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Randy Jackson has insisted that several tracks on Michael Jackson's new album do not feature his vocals.

The late singer's brother claims that a number of new songs on the album are not sung by Jackson, and admits he was immediately "suspicious" of the project when music bosses banned family members from visiting the studio while the tracks were completed.

In a series of posts on his Twitter page, he said: "Me and my nephew were the first to say that it wasn't his voice on some of the tracks. The family and the executors of the Estate, Branca and McClain, are not on the same page.

"I became suspicious about the album when I heard [that] armed guards were involved. Since my brother's passing, John McClain insisted that no family members were allowed at his studio where the project was being completed."

The 9 Most Unintentionally Terrifying Kids Shows

It takes a special kind of talent to create a solid kid's show. You have to create the sometimes offbeat material that appeals to the innocent, off-kilter mind of a child. 5 Reasons Why Kanye West’s New Album Will Be a Blockbuster

by Ben Barna

Regardless of how many individual units Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy moves next week, the album should already be considered a success. Not only is he getting the best reviews in a career filled with best reviews, but for the last two months, Kanye West is all anyone has been able to talk or think about (and by anyone I mean me anyone). Even though by the time Fantasy leaked online last week, most of the songs had been heard, either in Kanye's short film/long video Runaway, or courtesy of his GOOD Friday initiative, there was still a thrill hearing the songs in their final, fully mastered form. But is the thrill large enough to make you go out and spend your hard-earned money on a self-proclaimed douche bag? GOOD question!

In today’s dystopian record industry, paradigm-shifting success happens only once or twice a year, and is usually measured by how close to the million-mark an album comes in sales. When Taylor Swift’s Speak Now sold over one million copies in its first week, it was considered a mega-smash, and earned comparisons to Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter III, the last album to reach that milestone before it. The question is: Can My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy reach Swiftian heights (again with these comparisons), despite online oversaturation and a fairly early leak? Yes, we think it can, and here are five reasons why.

Robyn Talks About Being A Gay Icon, Gurrrrl!

Robyn came by my work earlier this week.  Although i am around a lot of musicians a lot of the time, I was super star struck and forgot to get a photo with her but she was incredibly nice and let me stand outside with her while she had a cigarette.

I really liked the part where she talked about being a gay icon and wish I was one as well.  I guess there's always hope for the future.
Collapse )

“I’ve always had a gay following and I’ve always been aware of it. I’m very proud of having that support. The gay audience is very loyal and a very important starting point for a lot of artists. And I definitely recognize that.

I think I always felt connected to gay culture in the sense that feeling like an outsider is something that gay culture naturally always had to consider. Or take a stand. Against or for. Or whatever it is. And I think that’s something I can relate to.

I think it’s more about queer culture–in the true sense of the word. I guess I am interested in thing that are not always what they are supposed to be. Of course, it’s shocking that the things that have happened here recently are happening. I think it’s something you don’t feel should be happening in 2010.

But, I think it tells you a little bit about what the world still is. And it is a place, where things or people that are not like everyone else are still not accepted or as accepted as we think. I think it goes for the gay community. I think it goes for women as well. I think there is a lot of stereotypes that still have a very strong position in society that I like to question. Always.”

Hollywood publicist could have been killed by contract killer

Police in California believe a Hollywood publicist, whose death has shocked the film industry, was most likely to have fallen victim to a contract killer

Ronni Chasen, 64, was killed early on Tuesday morning while driving through Beverly Hills on her way home from a film premiere and party.

Detectives are working on the belief that Ms Chasen's killer, who may have been driving a sports utility vehicle or a truck, drove up beside her Mercedes and shot her through her passenger-side window.

Analysts have said that the location where Miss Chasen was shot, her high profile and the absence of any apparent robbery suggested that her killing was premeditated or even contracted.

No suspects have emerged, however, and investigators are still puzzled as to what motive the killer could have had.

Jimmy Delshad, the Mayor of Beverly Hills, who was briefed on the inquiry by detectives, said: "Most indication is that it was targeted. A random killing wouldn't have happened like this."

Brad Garrett, a former FBI agent who is now a private detective, said: "On the profile of this woman, you certainly have to look at the potential that somebody wanted to harm her."

Deathly Hallows - Part 1's midnight box office numbers revealed

Variety has the United States overnight box office numbers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.

The film pulled in $24 million and is expected to surpass the $100 million mark this weekend as it runs on 4,125 United States screens.

It did not surpass the $30-million midnight record previously set by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in June. This could be for a multitude of reasons, but the most probable is the fact that Eclipse was released when students did not have school the following morning.

Daniel Day-Lewis Will Play Abraham Lincoln for Steven Spielberg

Though Steven Spielberg's Abraham Lincoln biopic had been delayed for the past couple of years, with Liam Neeson originally slated to play the 16th President of the United States before eventually dropping out because, as he suggested, "I'm past my sell-by date," it looks like things have finally turned around with today's announcement that Daniel Day-Lewis has signed on to play Lincoln in a film that will "focus on the political collision of Lincoln and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the Civil War."

We don't think there's anyone better suited to play Lincoln than Day-Lewis, one of only a handful of top-notch actors who has a way of losing himself in a role that goes well beyond expectations. The man is absolutely fascinating to watch, and especially so in period films (see 'Gangs of New York' and 'There Will Be Blood'). The plan right now is to begin filming late next year for a release during awards season in 2012, and it's not jumping the gun to predict that 'Lincoln' is already the top contender for Best Picture that year, even though we're months away from production. Just the thought of the world's most famous director teaming up with arguably the world's finest actor should send goosebumps down the spine of every film fan reading this right now. Count our opening day tickets already sold.

Awesome! I really liked the Liam Neeson idea, but DDL can do (almost) no wrong. This should be good.

Kirsten Dunst: Oh gosh, I have to think because .. I died in that one, I died in that one, I died in that one [laughs]. It could be funny to do a much darker “Bring It On” sequel – like what happened to all of them after the first one. Like what happened to Torrence Shipman?

Kirsten: I feel like she’s a mom. Married to the brother she wanted and they’re still in Calabasas – living a pretty chill life. That would be kinda funny.

In late 2009, Janet Jackson released her 34-track hits collection 'Number Ones,' but kept busy in 2010 by penning her first book, 'True You,' and appearing in two Tyler Perry films -- 'For Colored Girls' and 'Why Did I Get Married Too?' -- the latter which spawned her 35th hit 'Nothing.' All that time away from touring has led Janet to miss her fans much and make plans for her biggest escapade yet ... but there's a catch. The icon wants her fans to pick the 35 cities for her "largest ever world tour" in 2011 behind 'Number Ones.' Fans can vote and map out the schedule at

Paris Hilton is gonna get herself killed

From Celebslam:

"Pacific Coast News says that's Paris Hilton doing community service with the Hollywood Beautification Team today, painting over graffiti left by the notorious Mara Salvatrucha 13 gang (MS-13). According to the FBI, MS-13 operates in at least 42 states and the District of Columbia and has about 6,000-10,000 members nationwide who:
engage in a wide range of criminal activity, including drug distribution, murder, rape, prostitution, robbery, home invasions, immigration offenses, kidnapping, carjackings/auto thefts, and vandalism. Most of these crimes, you'll notice, have one thing in common—they are exceedingly violent.
Hopefully Paris spills a little bit of that paint on her arm. It should make identifying the body they pull out of the L.A. River tomorrow a whole lot easier."

House Beautiful Chops Columnist 'Contessa' for Tyler Florence

-By Lucia Moses

“Barefoot Contessa” Ina Garten is getting her walking papers as House Beautiful’s food columnist of five years and being replaced with fellow Food Network star Tyler Florence.
It’s the highest-profile change yet for HB editor Newell Turner, who was promoted to editor in chief in April. He got the job when predecessor Stephen Drucker was named to lead sibling pub Town & Country.
Turner said after a “really great run with Ina,” he thought Florence, who brings a West Coast perspective and has a young family, would help bring in new readers.
“He’s a perfect person to pick up where Ina left off,” he said. “He’s all about big flavors and big ideas in the kitchen. I think Tyler’s going to bring this other level of family to the story.”
Florence will be a contributing editor starting with the February 2011 issue, with a new monthly column, “Tyler’s Kitchen.” Recipes from Garten’s “Ask the Barefoot Contessa” column will live on the magazine’s Web site.
In other changes, Turner said he’s also making a big push into outdoor living content, starting with the spring issues. “It’s just become a big part of how Americans live.”

The Secret Sex Life of John Travolta

Author Robert Randolph has been talking to the tabloids about John Travolta's habit of hooking up with men at Los Angeles saunas. Most media outlets, however, were too shy to delve into the steamy details. We're not quite as timid.

Randolph, an interior designer by trade, says he first started visiting LA's City Spa in 1995. It wasn't long, he claims, before he encountered fellow member and notorious closet case John Travolta, who frequented the spa to hook up with other men. He's publishing an account of his run-ins with Travolta—and a number of other celebrities—on the spa scene in a self-published book entitled You'll Never Spa in This Town Again, which you can pre-order on his website. In recent weeks, Randolph has been busy talking with tabloids such as the National Enquirer and Star, about what he witnessed. (He says the Enquirer even subjected him to a lie detector test, which he says he passed with flying (rainbow) colors.) But mainstream tabloids have generally been skittish about printing some of the more explicit details from Randolph's days on the spa circuit.

Randolph says his first encounter with Travolta, who was then in his early 40s, took place in one of the spa's steam rooms.

"I walked in and the guy was giving John a blowjob and, like guys do, he pulled his head up when I walked in. Then they left the room," Randolph described Travolta's mate as a "very handsome, very hung" Middle-Eastern man. "I decided to follow them. There was an empty massage room upstairs where guys could go and have sex. I followed them up there and I went in the next room where I normally got my massages, and I watched them have sex. Full-blown sex. Anal." In case you're wondering, Travolta is a bottom.

Emma Watson in WWD

“It feels like I’ve been handed my life back, like I’ve been let off a leash,” says actress Emma Watson on an overcast November morning in a suite in the Hudson hotel, just days before today’s release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.”

Although fans the world over may be mourning the penultimate film in the magical franchise, its star is comfortably toying with a life post-Hogwarts. Perched delicately on a sofa sipping orange juice and wearing a tweedy Chanel jacket and elaborate necklace, skinny All Saints jeans and an impish smile, Watson looks more like the eager Brown University sophomore she is — albeit better dressed than most — than a girl confronting cinematic Armageddon.

“Journalists keep saying to me, ‘So this is the end, how do you feel about it being the end?’ And I’m like, ‘It really doesn’t feel that to me.’ It feels like the beginning,” says Watson, who arrived at the photo shoot with a retinue including her stepmother, a personal publicist, film publicist, hair stylist and makeup artist. “It’s actually really an exciting time for me rather than this kind of the end. I can’t stand everyone calling it the end. I’m 20 years old. Seriously, guys.”

Anne Hathaway: I Cried Daily While Shooting 'Love and Other Drugs'

Anne Hathaway cried every day while shooting romantic comedy-drama Love and Other Drugs.

"I had a bit of a roller coaster experience on this movie...I was playing a character way out of my comfort zone. All that overt sexuality is just not me," Hathaway -- who shot multiple sex scenes with co-star Jake Gyllenhaal -- tells Reuters.

She says the sex scenes aren't raunchy: "We didn't want to lose the film's energy in these scenes. And I think that is what resulted in the film. It's less of nudity and more of intimacy."

Hathaway and Gyllenhaal played a married couple in 2005's Brokeback Mountain. What has changed since then?

"Gosh, I think everything except for our families and friends have changed in our lives since then. We are basically the same people, just older and wiser," says Hathaway.

In Love and Other Drugs (out Nov. 24), Hathaway plays Maggie, a free spirit who suffers from Parkinson's Disease. The complex character was not what drew her to the role, though.

DiCaprio to star in JFK tale

Leonardo DiCaprio will star in and produce the feature "Legacy of Secrecy," based on the book about the John F. Kennedy assassination by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann.

DiCaprio will produce through his Warner Bros.-based Appian Way banner with his father, George, who brought the book to his son's attention. Appian Way's Earl Katz will exec produce.

Warners, which handled Oliver Stone's "JFK" in 1991, is eyeing a possible 2013 release of "Legacy of Secrecy" coinciding with the 50th anni of President Kennedy's assassination.

DiCaprio is expected to play FBI informant Jack Van Laningham. The book -- whose full title is "Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination" -- asserts that Mafia godfather Carlos Marcello confessed to Van Laningham to having ordered JFK's assassination. As part of a dangerous and long-secret undercover operation, the FBI positioned Van Laningham to become confidant to Marcello, who ruled organized crime in Louisiana and most of Texas for decades.

"Legacy of Secrecy" includes information from declassified FBI files from the National Archives which details the FBI's clandestine operation with Van Laningham and Marcello's JFK confession. The book also included information from FBI and Secret Service files showing that more than a dozen of Marcello's associates and family members were questioned or arrested by authorities in assocation with the JFK assassination.Marcello, who died in 1993, has not yet been the subject of a feature film. Marcello's name did not appear in the 1964 Warren Report, but the 1979 House Select Committee on Assassinations said mobster Santo Trafficante and Marcello "had the motive, means, and opportunity to assassinate President Kennedy."

As part of Warner's deal for "Legacy of Secrecy," Waldron is retaining documentary film and TV rights to the book, which also says the Mafia played a role in the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and in Watergate. Appian Way's Katz will produce one of the documentaries.

DiCaprio was last seen in "Inception." Appian Way's a producer on "Red Riding Hood," due out in March from Warners, and on the George Clooney-Ryan Gosling starrer "The Ides of March," currently in pre-production.

The Rustic Hut Where Prince William Proposed

Newly released photos reveal the unlikely site of Prince William's October 20 proposal to Kate Middleton: at one of Kenya's stark Rutundu Log Cabins near Lake Rutundu on Africa's second highest peak. With no electricity, the couple, both 28, celebrated their engagement by a roaring fire.

When the two departed the next day, each signed the guest book.

"Thank you for such a wonderful 24 hours! Sadly no fish to be found but we had great fun trying. I love the warm fires and candle lights -- so romantic! Hope to be back again soon" Kate wrote before signing, "Catherine Middleton.

‘Twilight’ Actress Christian Serratos Lands Lead Role In ABC Family Series

Christian was cast along with Katelyn Tarver ("Big Time Rush"), Valerie Tian ("Juno") and Ana Lucasey ("Lie to Me") in the hour-long drama that follows four ethnically diverse teen girls attending a private school in California.

Of all the fresh faces to emerge from the "Twilight" franchise, Christian seems to be the one who's flown the most under casting directors' radars. In addition to the "Breaking Dawn," Christian has only one other movie in the works, 2011's "96 Minutes."
Of course, Christian isn't the first "Twilight" star to grace the small screen. Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and Cam Gigandet all have ties to "The O.C." Kellan Lutz appeared in several episodes of "90210" during its freshman season, and even superstar Taylor Lautner had a recurring role on Christian Slater's defunct spy series "My Own Worst Enemy." Christian's resume is also chock-full of small roles including parts on "Hannah Montana," "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" and Brenda Hampton's other series "7th Heaven."

Day-Lewis set for Spielberg's 'Lincoln'

Steven Spielberg's tapped Daniel Day-Lewis to star as Abraham Lincoln in Spielberg's long-gestating "Lincoln" project for DreamWorks.

Friday's announcement -- made by Spielberg and Dreamworks co-chairman and CEO Stacey Snider -- came nine years after Spielberg first launched development of a Lincoln biopic and five years after he'd held talks with Liam Neeson to portray the 16th president.

Spielberg noted in the announcement that he's never worked with Day-Lews previously.

"Daniel Day-Lewis would have always been counted as one of the greatest of actors, were he from the silent era, the golden age of film or even some time in cinema's distant future," Spielberg said in a statement. "I am grateful and inspired that our paths will finally cross with Lincoln."

Harry Potter becomes a magical terrorist for justice in "Deathly Hallows"

Muggle rights. House elf liberation. Werewolf acceptance. These are the values that Harry Potter stands for. In the franchise's exciting, penultimate installment, The Deathly Hallows Pt. 1, the near-adult wizard protects those values by going to war with his government.

It's easy to lose sight of that basic plot fact when you're whirling through an aerial battle with dementors, or racing through the semi-enchanted streets of London with our heroes Harry, Ron, and Hermione. But whatever else the Harry Potter books and movies have meant to the millions who love them, they have also always been a fantasy of what would happen if Hitler somehow returned to invade London from beyond the grave - and indeed, beyond our reality.

Aguilera Says Her AMA Performance Will Be A "Spectacle"

'You're going to get quite the show,' she tells MTV News of performing a 'Burlesque' number at Sunday's show.

The American Music Awards are known for their high-octane performances, and this year is no exception, with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Kid Rock, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Pink, Usher, Ne-Yo, Diddy and more set to hit the stage.
Christina Aguilera will also be performing, doing a number from her upcoming movie "Burlesque." When MTV News caught up with the Grammy winner/ movie newbie recently, while doing press with her hunky "Burlesque" co-star Cam Gigandet, we asked her what fans can expect from her AMA performance.

"It's going to be fantastic," she said. "And it will give you a fitting little look inside the movie."

Aguilera said her saucy, burlesque-style dancing will set her performance apart from past appearances.

"It will be another very new challenge for me," Aguilera admitted. "My legs have been incredibly sore as I stepped into the role of Ali for this." In the film, Aguilera plays a small-town girl with big dreams — Ali — who stumbles on a burlesque club owned by the feisty Tess (Cher).

Aguilera added that, while re-learning the dance routines was grueling, the choreography is amazing. "You're going to get quite the show," she promised. "Quite the spectacle."

While Aguilera is new to the world of acting, Cher told MTV News that the pop star can dish it out with the best of them. "The scenes that she and I had together, I really enjoyed, and I really believe that she's got definite chops," she said. "We worked well together. I enjoyed all of it, and she was toe-to-toe with me the whole time."

Robyn covers When Doves Cry

From Robyn’s session for BBC4’s On Track With SEAT comes her take on the god Prince’s “When Doves Cry
,” aka the most experimental Billboard #1 the world will ever know. (Feel free to contest that claim, but come with evidentiary backup.)

To wit, Robyn’s version rides on a synth line through the verses, which doesn’t feel out of place except when you remember that the original’s verses are just Prince’s voice over a beat.
The 1984 track’s melody and performance and production are so overpowering that by the time the verse hits your mind’s ear is already implying the underlying chord progression, and while you’re filling that in, Prince has all the more space to flex and intone. It’s a musical sleight of hand that never fails to make me shake my head side to side (gently). Anyway, Robyn’s generally wonderful, and so here she is, a wonderful and adventurously prodigious pop talent in her own right paying homage to The Artist with a sultry, keyboard heavy version of a stone cold classic.

Um.. No Thanks

James Franco agrees with “Millionaire Matchmaker” Patti Stanger – dating Jennifer Aniston would be a good idea.

The Bravo matchmaker recently appeared on Access Hollywood Live and suggested that the “127 Hours” star would ignite a fire in Jen.

“How do you top Brad [Pitt?] You top Brad by pulling in James Franco,” Patti told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover when asked whom Jen should date. “This would be great onscreen chemistry, as well in the bedroom at home. I think she’d get the hot factor back in her life with that.”

Access caught up with James at the 15th annual “GQ Men of the Year” party in Los Angeles on Wednesday night and shared Patti’s pairing idea.

“She’s a very beautiful woman,” James said of Jen. “I think she’s dating someone.”

Access pressed, asking if he’d date the 41-year-old actress if she were single.

James smiled and nodded his head yes.

Tony Parker Files for Divorce In Texas

Tony's divorce petition was filed in Bexar County, Texas. The stamp shows today's date. Sources connected with Tony confirm a document was filed.

Eva filed for divorce earlier in the week in Los Angeles, CA., setting up a legal battle over where the case will be heard. Texas divorces can be handled quickly -- in as little as 60 days.

According to the petition, which was filed by initials -- W.P and E.P. -- Tony states the reason for the divorce: "The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationships and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."

Here's what's interesting ... As we first reported, the couple signed a prenup, but in Tony's petition he makes no mention of it. To the contrary, he writes, "Petitioner believes Petitioner and Respondent will enter into an agreement for the division of their estate." Since they've already signed a prenup, the word "will" is curious.

Tony's petition also states, "Petitioner owns certain separate property that is not part of the community estate of the parties ..."

Tony's lawyer did not return our call. And no comment so far from Eva's camp. And how's this for a twist ...Tony is being represented by attorney Richard Orsinger, the same lawyer who is repping Brent Barry, whose wife was allegedly sexting Tony.

George Harrison Song Leads Beatles' Tracks on iTunes Charts

Now that the Beatles are on iTunes, the songwriting genius of John Lennon and Paul McCartney can finally be digitally downloaded. But they're going to have to get in line behind the songwriting genius of George Harrison.

According to Billboard, after one full day of iTunes availability, the Beatles have placed 52 songs in the Top 200 downloads, but the highest-ranked one is "Here Comes the Sun" -- a George Harrison composition -- at number 16. That's followed by a Lennon/McCartney number, "Let It Be," at number 20. The next highest-ranked Beatles downloads are "In My Life" at number 22, "Blackbird" at number 32, "Come Together" at number 35 and "Hey Jude" at number 44.

On the album side, Billboard reports that the band's Abbey Road is the best-seller of their catalog, ranking at number seven on iTunes top albums chart, followed by The Beatles -- which everyone calls "The White album" -- at number eight. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is number nine, and the Beatles Box Set, which includes all 13 of their studio albums, is ranked number 11. The least popular Beatles album so far is Yellow Submarine, in at number 49.

Yesssss! My favorite Beatle thanks you for your time.
Also, I'm listening to 'Isn't It A Pity' from George's solo album 'All Things Must Pass' right now.. It's such a great album.

Prince Charles says Camilla 'may become Queen'.

Prince Charles has said for the first time that his wife Camilla "could be" the Queen when he takes the throne. Asked in an interview on US channel NBC whether the Duchess of Cornwall could ever become Queen Consort, he initially stumbled over his answer.

He then added: "We'll see won't we? That could be."

Clarence House said that "nothing had changed" since the couple's wedding, and that the Duchess would become Princess Consort as was stated then.

BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell said the issue was the title which Camilla would take when the prince became king, not her role.

According to 1,000 years of history and precedent the wife of a king becomes a queen, as a Queen Consort, which has no constitutional power. But at the time of their marriage five years ago, it was announced that Camilla would assume the Princess Consort title when Charles became King. That came at a time when there were several newspaper polls indicating a lack of public support for Camilla ever being known as Queen Camilla.

Our correspondent said Prince Charles had been caught unawares in the interview and had given a rather stumbling answer, but he could have "stuck to the script" of Clarence House. Instead he gave that answer, which confirmed what people suspected, that he wanted Camilla crowned alongside him as Queen Consort, which was revealing, our correspondent added.

Awkward turtle time: 'Skyline' producers respond to unkind critics

Last weekend I saw (and rather enjoyed) a throwback-style "aliens attack!" sci-fi / horror flick called 'Skyline.' The film has problems, but I was rather shocked (and a little chagrined) when I saw the print critics and the onliners pounce on the flick like it was the world's last fish in the world's smallest barrel. I certainly expected some negative reviews -- the film is no classic -- but not the curiously outraged derision that was thrown 'Skyline's' way.

Then one of the filmmakers found me on the twitter, we began chatting about the response to the film, and that leads us here: a frank and candid discussion about the unpleasantness that greeted the theatrical release of, let's face it, an unapologetically silly and entirely matinee-friendly sci-fi monster movie. Our thanks to 'Skyline' writer / producers Liam O'Donnell and Joshua Cordes for participating.
