Sherlock is the best show of the season.

Is tonight's new PBS 'Sherlock' one of the best Sherlock Holmes ever?

by Ken Tucker
Categories: Dramas, In the News, Movies, PBS, TV Review, TV Tonight, Television

This week’s Masterpiece Mystery! begins a three-week run of Sherlock, a clever re-imagining of Sherlock Holmes in the 21st century. One thing that marks this production off from previous adaptations of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s work — that is, aside from the fact that this Sherlock has a website and texts furiously — is that it forces the Holmes cult to overlap with another venerable British cult: the one for Doctor Who.

Benedict Cumberbatch, from Atonement, stars as a jittery Holmes who’s more addicted to e-mail and his nicotine patch than to the traditional snoot-full of cocaine. His Watson is an Afghanistan war veteran played by Martin Freeman, who just this week was announced as joining the cast of (make that a third British-cult link!) The Hobbit movie.

The answer you're looking for, is yes. This Sherlock is the best ever. Cumberbatch, Freeman, The Moff, and Gatiss = The Holmes Dream Team.

Matt Cardle now the clear favourite for winning X Factor

Matt Cardle's X Factor win odds cut after brilliant Britney Spears cover -Meanwhile, Nicolo Festa stays pressed and the first one eliminated for refusing to cover Pop Legend.

The X Factor 2010 big guns all brought their A game to the latest live show but once again top honours have to go to Matt Cardle, who is now clear favourite for outright success.

Performing a Travis-inspired acoustic version of the Britney Spears hit Bany One More Time, Matt simply oozed class and received rapturous applause from both the audience and the judges on Guilty Pleasure night.

Louis Walsh said: "Matt, when I first saw you at your audition, I never imagined seeing you singing a Britney Spears song, but you took a pop classic and made it your own and I think that version could be a No 1 record again!

"I love the fact that you're not predictable, that you take a chance - we are looking for someone unique and Matt you are unique in every way. I loved it."

99 Most Desirable Women....49 Women Addition...

Yeah, so my laptop crashed which had the counted list on it - and other 'in real life stuff' too - which basically meant I had to re-count all the votes, hence it's lateness.
The only problem when I was counting was of the 3984 votes, only 82 women actually had over 15 votes. SO I changed the list to 49 Most Desirable Women - Because the numbers 50 and 100 are overrated anyway...

Heggins will play Senna and Judi Shekoni as Zafrina as part of the The Amazon Coven, while Trucks will play Mary, an American nomadic vampire. Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe. They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.

Kat Von D -- Meltdown Over Jesse James

More drama behind the scenes at "L.A. Ink" -- where sources tell us Kat Von D went nuclear over the way her ex-boyfriend Jesse James was portrayed in an upcoming episode.

Multiple sources tell us the recent drama began in the last few days ... after Kat viewed screeners of some upcoming episodes which spotlight her relationships with Jesse and her on-again BF Nikki Sixx.

We're told Kat -- who was dating Jesse when the show was being taped -- has decided that she no longer wants any traces of him on the TLC show ... and demanded that producers pull him from all future episodes.

Now, producers are desperately trying to rip Jesse from the show -- but we're told there's so much content to remove ... they're worried they may to pack the show with extra commercials to fill out the time before the show airs Wednesday night.

Calls to Kat's reps have not been returned.

Emma Roberts Continues Her Growing Up

I know we're going to get letters about too much Emma Roberts, but, well, damn. Every day is bringing some new angles on this growing-up-little-hottie-actress. You know she's got the acting genes, but she may also well pass Aunt Julia in the looks department. Yeah, I said it. Look for Emma Roberts to be on most every publication's Hottest Actresses in Hollywood lists in about three years time. Enjoy.

CBS Develops a Reality Show for Celebrity Namesakes

If you share a name with someone famous — like, say, 35-year-old pinball geek Justin Bieber of Jacksonville, FL., or one of the five Betty Whites in Boston, MA  — you might soon be getting a call from somebody at CBS. The network has teamed with 51 Minds (the company behind such critically beloved VH1 fare as I Love New York and Rock of Love) for a new reality project dubbed The Same Name. The basic premise of the show revolves around finding regular folks whose names happen to be the same as celebs, and then having the two temporarily trade lives. The new show, which has been given a pilot order by CBS, contains elements of reality concepts which have already worked on the network: The theme of confusing celeb identity is key to the Eye's I Get That a Lot specials, while having stars survive in the real world contains echoes of Undercover Boss. If CBS decides to make The Same Name a series, look for it either this summer or next season.

How Kings of Leon Reached the Third, Surly Act of Their Rock-Star Movie

Kings of Leon is a hugely successful band. (I’ll spare you all the “platinums” and “millions” — let’s just say their last album, Only by the Night, sold like nuts.) They’re also the kind of band your rock-geek friends probably roll their eyes at. And if you happen to enjoy them — the sales numbers indicate a pretty good probability that you might! — you probably respond to that eye-rolling with more eye-rolling: What, music geeks can’t like something just because it’s popular? Too mainstream to be cool?

Lindsay Lohan Clothing Line -- Sketchy

Lindsay Lohan was worried her clothing line would go belly up if she went back into rehab -- but TMZ has learned the company is doing just fine with LiLo ensconced at Betty Ford ... thanks to some LiLo sketches.

As TMZ first reported, Lindsay told her probation officer she thought the company, 6126, would fall apart if she went back to inpatient rehab. But a source close to 6126 tells TMZ the company hasn't missed a beat ... because Lindsay has been sketching like crazy since checking into B.F.

Sources tell TMZ Lindsay doodled her designs for both the Fall 2011 collection and the Spring 2012 line.

We're told Lindsay is actually a micro-manager, approving almost every detail.

But we're thinkin' ... keep your eye on rehab, Lindsay.

Fans Try to Save ABC's 'The Whole Truth' From Cancellation!

According to EW.com it looks as though...ABC has announced a Plan B scenario for Wednesdays at 10 beginning Nov. 3 that could spell the beginning of the end for The Whole Truth, the new legal drama starring Maura Tierney. On Nov. 3, ABC will air In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: All Access Nashville that’ll feature the Good Morning America anchor interviewing some of country music’s biggest stars. On. Nov 10, ABC will preempt all of its Wednesday programming for the Country Music Awards.
At least one more original episode of Truth will air on Oct. 27. After that, ABC execs will likely gauge whether to stick with the drama that’s only averaged 5.3 million viewers (ranked No. 69 among all primetime shows) and a 1.5 rating/4 share among adults 18-49 (ranked No. 72). If yanked, Truth will become the fourth cancellation of the 2010-11 season, behind Fox’s Lone Star, NBC’s Outlaw, and ABC’s My Generation.
Since it looks like as though this week may be the last week for 'The Whole Truth' fans to campaign for the show... it looks as though they have taken things into their own hands... And started a campaign similar to the Harvey Dent 'I Believe' Campaign! They've created buttons, banners, badges...and so much more... but the question is can the show be saved?

Jive furious over the leak of new Britney song, "Pleasure You"

A new track from Britney Spears upcoming album has been leaked months before its planned release, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The pop sensation plans to release Pleasure You - a three minute tune in which Spears stays true to form and sings about being submissive, a servant and doing whatever it takes to please her man. The track was played to RadarOnline.com by a source connected to the singer. The leak has infuriated record bosses at Spears’ label JIVE, who were stunned when informed of the unauthorized release by RadarOnline.com.

"We are totally unaware of the song being leaked," a JIVE rep told RadarOnline.com. "We don't know how her song or any other artists song could have been released. We're looking into the issue."

One verse of the track is particularly colorful where the pop star sings: "If you want to get rough in that lay on your back, I got the max suddenly I'll pull you through whatever just to pleasure you." The song beat is soft and slow, curiously, like that of an R&B song — a monumental shift for the pop starlet.

"We can't discuss details as to if she's working on a new album," the rep told RadarOnline.com.

VOTE HERE for The 50 Greatest TV Shows According to ONTD ~ It's more important than the Midterms

Judging from my ONTD original posts about series finales, I can tell that a lot of you have different tastes when it comes to TV.  Some may be Gleeks, others True Blood drinkers and even some more are into One Tree Hill...for some reason that escapes logic.

So that's why I want to hear from YOU.  Here, starting now and ending next Monday (November 1), you can vote for your favorite TV shows OF ALL TIME.  OF ALL TIME.  Past, present, comedy, drama, reality, talk, cartoon, cable, whatever you wanna vote for, DO IT!  The results will be posted right here on ONTD on Monday, November 15 (sorry it's so late, but it makes sense for me because 1. it's a holiday and 2. it gives me a realistic timeframe to tabulate; but it's subject to change because it might be earlier/later because of my schedule)

Here are all the rules:

1. You can only vote once and only for two shows
2. If you want to change your vote, post another comment with a subject line reading "VOTE CHANGE FOR <INSERT USER HERE>
3. Be clear with the show you're voting for; use the correct title and not "That one show with the gay brothers", because I'll think it's 'Bonanza'
4. You can't vote for characters or people or objects or movies, JUST TV SHOWS
5. Spell correctly
6. No abbreviations; If you write DW, I'll think, "I didn't know there was an Arthur spin-off"
7. No numbering

Every week between now and January 25 when the nominations are announced, movies and stars will help themselves — or sometimes, hurt themselves — in the Oscar race. Vulture's Oscar Futures will listen for insider gossip, comb the blogs, and out-and-out guess when necessary to track who's up, who's down, and who's currently leading the race for a coveted nomination.

Best Picture

UP: The Fighter. It's finally been seen, and according to the Wrap's Steve Pond, it's a contender: "It's a likely Best Picture nominee." The new trailer during the Mad Men finale helped, too.

Down: 127 Hours. Who are these people trying to injure a perfectly excellent contender by fainting during the film's arm-chopping sequence? Even this squeamish Vulture editor survived a screening.

CURRENT PREDIX: 127 Hours, Another Year, Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit.

Come Nov. 7, NeNe Leakes will be facing off against Nora Walker. That's right, Bravo is moving its reality series 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' to Sundays at 10PM, putting it in competition with the likes of 'Brothers & Sisters,' 'CSI: Miami' and football.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, this move comes as part of Bravo's planned programming strategy. "We want to start the week earlier," Frances Berwick, president of Bravo, told the Hollywood Reporter. "This means each night is a promotional platform for the next night and it becomes like a domino effect that strengthens our schedule."

Following 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' at 11PM will be a new edition of the late night talk show, 'Watch What Happens Live,' hosted by Andy Cohen.

'Atlanta' will replace 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' reruns in the Sunday hour. "We're doing this now that we know we have a firm following for 'Real Housewives of Atlanta,'" Berwick said. "We have been reducing our reliance on acquisitions and building our original programming -- all those good things that differentiate us."

Rihanna doesn't know her songs have been on 'Glee'

In a new interview, Rihanna was asked about "Glee" and she responded by saying, "I have seen a couple of episodes and being in 'Glee' would be fun. I'd do it if they asked me. I'd lend my songs to them for sure."

While that's all well and good, I'm guessing the show's second episode -- "Showmance" -- wasn't one of the few RiRi has seen, otherwise she'd know the Lea Michele delivered a stirring rendition of "Take A Bow" at the hour's end.

The stars of Celebrity Apprentice 4 are hard at work trying to impress Donald Trump and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes is already causing havoc with her fellow cast mates.

“NeNe is causing trouble on the show,” a source told RadarOnline.com.  “She showed up late to filming and that didn’t win her any friends.”

According to a source, when the cast list was first leaked and NeNe was mentioned, she started making phone calls and telling people that she was one of the celebrities on the show.

The person who NeNe has been fighting with?  Star Jones, formerly from The View. “NeNe and Star were butting heads originally,” the source said.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, NeNe has been taking advice from former Apprentice contestant Omarosa Stallworth and she’s been schooling her on how to get ahead on the show.

Big Machine Records: Kanye helped boost Taylor's sales!

Paul Wall and Chamillionaire once said controversy sells, and no one knows this better than Kanye West and Taylor Swfit. Now, with both artists gearing up to release highly anticipated albums this fourth quarter, Swift's label has opened up about how their 2009 incident at the MTV Video Music Award. Scott Borchetta, the president of Swift's label Big Machine, said the incident brought a lot of attention to her music, making it the best selling album of 2009.

"The Kanye incident brought attention to Taylor, to an audience that did not really know her or her music," said Borchetta. “And when they did check it out, they discovered that they really liked it."

Swift's record sales in 2009 further confirm the impact of Ye's outburst. Her self-titled 2006 debut topped out at 4,821,000 units sold, while in the wake of the VMAs, her 2008 release Fearless jumped to 6,027,000 units. And now, it looks like Mr. West is helping to launch her into third album Speak Now, as the single "Innocent" dealt with the fiasco at the VMAs.

"Well, [the incident] affected her to the point that she wrote a song about it," said Borchetta. "So obviously it was a big moment in her life. Did it change her? Does he have more fear of things like that happening at awards shows? No. She’s a tough person and she’s very open."

The City Is Over?

The City has run its course.

“As of right now, it doesn’t really look like we’re doing it anymore,” Whitney Port told Ryan Seacrest on Monday (October 25), adding that the show likely won’t move to another network, either.

“It’s okay, one door closes and another opens,” Whitney said optimistically. “I’m working on some other things.”

Whitney recently visited Liberia as part of a charity effort and was most recently spotted in Hawaii snuggling up with beau Ben Nemtin.

Eminem gives Elton a sex toy!

haveElton John just gave a fascinating, extensive interview to the Telegraph, and while there is a lot to learn (someone needs to shut down his obsession with collecting porcelain, because it it out of control and so weird), the most revealing parts come when he defends his associations with Rush Limbaugh and Eminem. "When [Limbaugh] asked me to play at his wedding, my agent said, 'Well, of course you won’t be doing it,'" says John. "But I said, 'Well, let me think about that first.'" John's appearance at the wedding drew fire, since Limbaugh is notoriously adverse to gay marriage, "But then so is President Obama. But Limbaugh’s not anti-civil partnerships, so maybe I can have a dialogue about that. I’ve put my foot in the water and so has he. I got on with him very well, got on very well with his wife. I don’t have the same politics, but that doesn’t really matter. And I think this year I can start to put things in motion by trying to get him on my side." This will almost definitely happen! (And can we all agree that Limbaugh probably likes the worst Elton John songs? You just know that his favorite album is something like Victim of Love.)

So what makes John so confident that he can sway Limbaugh? His friendship with supposed homophobe Eminem, of course, which eventually culminated in something awful that is somehow a teachable moment:

The tide can change, [John] says. He faced similar criticism in 2001 when he joined Eminem on stage at the Grammy awards, ignoring the controversy about the rap singer’s allegedly homophobic lyrics. Eminem has now come out in support of gay marriage. 'For our civil partnership present he gave David [Furnish] and me two diamond-encrusted cock-rings.’

How Em kept this from Anderson Cooper, we'll never know. (Also: ouch?)

A Phone Conversation With James Franco

There’s something about James Franco. Whether he’s dressing up in drag, enrolling in four graduate schools or just acting really weird and high, he manages to keep the public interested in whatever he’s doing. In this celebrity age of calculated Disney starlets and PR soundbites, he’s an anomaly–someone who is willing to take risks (I don’t envy his publicist) and shock the world. At this point, liking his films or his art seems to be almost beside the point. More than an actor/student/writer/artist, James Franco has become famous for being James Franco–a refreshing and necessary presence in pop culture. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s super hot. It’s a known fact that super hot people can get away with anything they want.

Well, pretty much anything. Franco’s latest creative endeavor, a collection of short stories entitled Palo Alto (Scribner), really tested the limits to my love. It’s not that it was downright terrible. The book definitely shows glimmers of promise but, as a whole, it comes across as very “student work.” I just graduated college so I get it. But I also don’t have a book deal.

Thought Catalog tried to interview Franco about his book but quickly hit a wall. So we just decided to make one up.

Kanye West Makes History with Runaway film

There are moments in music history in which have completely altered and revolutionized the music industry for ever. These are epic moments which sometimes aren't recognized for their significance until decades later. Moments such as:

  • Bob Dylan releasing the six minute "Like a Rolling Stone" , ending the three minute song era.
  • Grandmaster Flash's "Adventures on the Wheels of Steel" becoming the first rap song to ever use samples from other songs.
  • Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
  • NWA's "F*** the Police" becoming the first banned song from the radio and music television.
  • Or even the discovery of Napster which introduced downloading; marking the end of traditional music formats as we knew them.

Carey and TomStu...

She was shot by the paps this weekend (those photos are exclusive and very expensive) leaving her new temporary home in Los Angeles, a Best Western. And not in a swanky part of town. And it’s not like she can’t afford to stay somewhere more upscale. It’s just... not what she’s into right now. Fresh off a breakup – I’m afraid it’s undeniable now – and with every intention of going home to London when she’s completed her work (can you blame her?), Carey doesn’t want to live among celebrities, prefers not to stare at “LA Face” all day long.

Right now she prefers to hang out with Tom Sturridge. They’re on the cover of the Daily Mail in the UK today, although that particularly publication doesn’t seem to know who he is. They couldn’t identify him. But it’s him, walking behind her, prompting speculation something’s up. I certainly hope so, sure. But this crowd, the young Brits, they all seem to know each other, overlap circles together, and Andrew Garfield isn’t the only friend they have in common.

"'Maury,' 'The Jerry Springer Show' and 'The Steve Wilkos Show' continue to be three of the highest-rated talk shows in all of daytime television" said Wallach. "In a business where shows often come and go, these shows continue to attract millions of viewers each week and remain constants in a sea of change."

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with 'Maury' 'Jerry' and 'Steve'," said Sean Compton, President, Programming and Entertainment, Tribune Broadcasting. "Each show has delivered significant ratings growth on a year-to-year basis and continue to drive big revenue increases for the Tribune stations. These shows serve our viewers and advertisers very well."

For the 2009-10 season "Maury" posted a 2.0 rating up 11% in Households from 2008-09 (1.8) and "Maury" was the #1 syndicated talk show in adults 18-34 for the 2009-10 season with a 1.2 rating (tied with "Oprah"); "The Jerry Springer Show" posted a 1.3 rating, up 18% in Households from 2008-09 (1.1) and "The Steve Wilkos Show" averaged a 1.2 rating, up 20% over 2008-09 (1.0).

And the momentum continues--at the start of the 2010-11 season, "Maury," which is currently in its 13th season, delivered its highest Household rating for a season premiere in three years (1.5, 1.6, 1.9: +19% vs. last season's season premiere); "The Jerry Springer Show" just began its 20th season in national syndication with its highest Household rating for a season premiere in three years (0.9, 1.1, 1.4: +27% vs. last year's season premiere); and "The Steve Wilkos Show" is delivering its highest Households rating for a season premiere in the program's four year history (0.9, 1.0, 1.1, 1.3: +18% vs. last year's season premiere.)

"Maury," The Jerry Springer Show" and "The Steve Wilkos Show" are taped in front of live studio audiences at the Stamford Media Center in Stamford, CT. Paul Faulhaber is the executive producer on "Maury." Rachelle Wilkos is the executive producer for both "The Jerry Springer Show" and "The Steve Wilkos Show." All three talk shows are produced by Stamford Media Center and Production LLC and distributed in the U.S. by NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.

RDJ Might Exit "Gravity"

I'm hearing scheduling problems have made Robert Downey Jr. suddenly doubtful for Gravity, the Alfonso Cuaron-directed Warner Bros space film that weathered a bunch of setbacks before finding its footing when it landed Sandra Bullock for the lead female role. Now, Warner Bros is denying Downey will exit, despite what I'm hearing. The studio is saying they expect to work out the scheduling problems, and executives certainly have access to Downey at the moment because he's junketing the Todd Phillips-directed Due Date. I'm also hearing that Bullock is among those lobbying him to stay. A Downey exit is a blow: just wait until you see what he brings to Due Date. But it's not necessarily fatal, because he was playing a supporting part.

Army Wives actress Sally Pressman engaged to a Cougar Town guest star

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sally Pressman, who stars in Lifetime's Army Wives, got more than a workout on Oct. 19 at Tracy Anderson's Studio in L.A: Her longtime boyfriend, Cougar Town's David Rogers, proposed to the actress at the studio.

"David got down on one knee," says Pressman's rep. "After an immediate 'yes', they embraced in a loving (and sweaty) hug."

Pressman, 29, and Rogers, 33, who met in Lesly Kahn's acting class, have been together for nearly five years. They're planning an August or September 2011 wedding. This will be the first marriage for both.

Congratulations to them!  Can't wait until Army Wives comes back next year.

TAYLOR POST #18384932

Actress Camilla Belle appears to be featured on a track off of Taylor Swift's just-released album, "Speak Now."

"Better Than Revenge" is thought to be aimed at Belle, who is rumored to be the reason behind Swift's breakup with Joe Jonas of boy band The Jonas Brothers.

"She took him faster than you can say sabotage," Swift sings in one of the opening stanzas of the upbeat country-pop track. "She's an actress/But she's better known for the things that she does on the mattress."

Jonas reportedly broke up with Swift right after he met Belle while filming the Jonas Brother's music video, "Lovebug" in 2008.

Although he made it clear on his MySpace blog that he didn't cheat on anyone, Swift told Ellen DeGeneres while on her talk show that she was dumped by Jonas over the phone in a 27-second call.

Swift's third studio album, "Speak Now," is out now. (So go buy it, motherfuckers!)

Comedy Central Converts "Waiting..." Into A TV Show

Comedy Central has handed out a pilot order to Waiting…, a half-hour project based on the 2005 indie comedy of the same name which starred Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris and Justin Long.

Written by the film’s writer-director Rob McKittrick, the project follows the young and not so young employees at Shenaniganz restaurant as they gossip, make fun of customers, and avert boredom and adulthood with their antics. Each of the employees projects their own issues into the restaurant as they grapple with sex, booze, and whether they are temporary or permanent fixtures in the restaurant world. McKittrick is executive producing with Thomas Augsberger and Jeff Balis. Waiting... was featured on Comedy Central's 2010-11 Development slate announced in May.

Decade by Decade: Top Iconic Movie Stars (version '80s)

Over the next few weeks days, we celebrate the most-noteworthy celebs who defined their decades and generations, from the '50s to now

(For those who didn't see the first three installments of this series, the '50s, '60s, and '70s posts are here:

By Sean Nelson
Special to MSN Movies

Since the birth of movies, actors and actresses have helped define the eras in which they live. The way they look, talk, dress and behave on- and off-screen gives their audience a sense not only of the power of glamour and artistry, but a sense of what it means to be part of a greater population living through a given slice of history. Whatever our differences, we are bound together (sometimes against our will) by the movie stars who entertain us. That's what makes them icons. By looking backward, with photos arranged by decade, beginning in the '50s with the advent of the modern movie star, these galleries examine how things have changed in the popular consciousness — and how they haven't. A new gallery covering each subsequent decade will go live every two weeks whenever greyfilm gets a chance to post them until we catch up to the present day.

A note about selection: These aren't necessarily the greatest actors and actresses who ever lived (though some of them are). They are instead the definitive stars of their times, the performers who best illustrate what it meant to be a movie star at that time in history, for good and ill. We know we can't please everyone, so we're very eager to read your comments about who we left out. Enjoy. This week post: the 1980s.

The Story: Three warriors seeking vengeance battle an evil tyrant. Sounds like Conan the Barbarian crossed with Lord of the Rings? Well...what's wrong with that?
Our Cast: Sam Worthington as the monosyllabic barbarian, Brooklyn Decker as the graceful Amazon, and Peter Dinklage as the totally badass dwarf.
Why It Might Not Suck: Some of the visuals (like the village on the back of a giant turtle) are still eye-catching over two decades later. Also, the dwarf is really awesome.

Everyone's Favorite Hobbit Lands A TV Show

FX has handed out a 13-episode series order to comedy pilot Wilfred for a summer 2011 launch. The project, based on the acclaimed Australian series of the same name, was hot from the script stage and then it solidified its chances in the pilot stage by landing Lord of the Rings's Elijah Wood to star opposite Jason Gann, co-creator and star of the original series.

David Zuckerman, who wrote the pilot script and serves as executive producer, describes Wilfred as comedy “about a guy, Ryan (Wood), the girl next door (Fiona Gubelmann), and mixed-breed dog, Wilfred (Gann), who is part Labrador retriever and part Russell Crowe on a bender.” Randall Einhorn directed the pilot for FX Prods. Rich Frank, Paul Frank, Jeff Kwatinetz, Joe Connor and Ken Conner also exec produce. Wilfred is adding to FX's rapidly expending comedy series portfolio, which includes It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Archer, The League and Louie.

Pattinson went on to claim that he believes people will only appreciate his music when he is dead.

For the 5 people who can't decipher her lyrics...

Vulture Attempts to Figure Out Who Each Song on the Taylor Swift Album Is About

Back in September, Vulture — armed only with a track list and the knowledge that Taylor Swift never, ever makes up anything up for her tales of young love and heartbreak — tried to guess what each song on Swift's new album, Speak Now, was about. We were way off! (For example: “The Story of Us” is not even a little bit about late-nineties Bruce Willis–Michelle Pfeiffer rom-com The Story of Us. Go figure.) But the album is officially out today, so we're giving this deciphering thing another shot. With a lot of help from the rest of the Internet, here's Vulture's guide to who each song on the Taylor Swift album is most likely about. Print it out, laminate it, keep it in your wallet.

1. "Mine"
MTV reports the lead single was inspired by “a boy Swift wasn't willing to take the next step with in their relationship,” and theorizes that that's either Glee's Cory Monteith or Lucas Till, who was in the “You Belong With Me” video. Now here comes the Da Vinci Code part: In her CD booklets, Swift will capitalize letters in each songs' lyrics to spell out a “hidden” message, and for “Mine” that message is TOBY. Swift's current boyfriend is Toby Hemingway, star of the “Mine” video. So is that maybe a hint the subject of “Mine” is fellow music-video-star Till? And is starring in a Taylor Swift music video the easiest way to date her?

2. "Sparks Fly"
A narrative of a dramatic bit of falling in love (“drop everything now / meet me in the pouring rain,” etc.), but there are no signifiers to suggest it's about any of her famous paramours. The booklet's message for this one is PORTLAND OREGON, so maybe it's just some dude Swift met on tour.

3. "Back to December"
Safe to say that this apology/JAM is for Taylor Lautner. EW has the actual chronology breakdown, plus the secret message is TAY.

Gary Tells Us He & Baby Leah Are ‘100 Percent OK’ After Amber Threatened To ‘Batter’ Him Again On Oct. 20!

Amber and Gary of Teen Mom have gotten back into trouble with the law… again! Read the police report, plus our exclusive comments from Gary, here!

HollywoodLife.com has obtained the police report from the new and disturbing Oct. 20th fight between Teen Mom stars Amber Portwood and boyfriend Gary Shirley — and despite a heated confrontation between the couple, Gary insists in a call with Hollywoodlife.com that both he and baby Leah are “100 percent OK.”  Here’s what happened  at 12:33 am in the couple’s hometown of Anderson, Indiana. Amber called the Madison County, Ind., Sheriff’s Department after Gary pushed her out of his home after he told police that Amber “threatened to batter him”.  Apparently Amber, who was only wearing underwear at the time, became enraged when Gary received a text message she thought was from another woman. The pair were watching a movie together when she saw the text, which Gary later told the police was from a male friend – NOT a woman.

T.I. Won't Be Charged in L.A. Drug Arrest

As TMZ first reported, T.I. and his wife were busted back on September 1 for possession of a controlled substance.

According to the D.A.'s Office, they are not going forward with charges because, in essence, he's already been sentenced to prison since the arrest was a violation of his federal probation.

However, law enforcement sources tell TMZ, there were significant legal issues over probable cause which led to T.I.'s arrest.

Cops claimed they smelled marijuana but no pot was ever booked into evidence.  And, we're told ...T.I. was pulled out of his $250,000 Maybach immediately after he made the illegal U-turn and prior to any registration check.

Taylor Swift Hearts Central Park & Jake Gyllenhaal

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Just one day away from the release of her new album, Taylor Swift hit Central Park in New York City for a free concert on Monday afternoon (October 25).

Flashing her penchant peace sign, the country cutie joined up with a small orchestra to treat the gathered crowd to a few tunes from her latest work, Speak Now.

The NYC outing comes as Miss Swift has found herself in the headlines for a possible blooming romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

According to People magazine, the pair spent the weekend alongside one another by attending the broadcast of "Saturday Night Live" to support Taylor's pal Emma Stone.

"They showed up together," the People insider tells. "They walked around together backstage, but they were careful not to be seen too close. It was hard to tell if they were together, but everyone was shocked that she brought him."

Meanwhile, Swift and Gyllenhaal were together again on Sunday while brunching at Al Di La in Brooklyn along with taking a stroll around Brooklyn's Park Slope neighborhood.

Kristen Stewart's Post-Welcome to the Rileys Growth

While she's currently getting "Breaking Dawn" filming underway, Kristen Stewart is also looking forward to the release of her movie "Welcome to the Rileys" - which hits theaters on October 29th.

Having premiered the film first at Sundance in January before taking it to New York City this past Monday (October 18), the Bella Swan babe has said that the role of a runaway-turned-stripper named Mallory is the most personal of her career.

As for the movie's plot, "Welcome to the Rileys" finds a damaged man on a business trip to New Orleans, where he seeks salvation by caring for a wayward young woman.

And while the movie is just being released, it was actually shot prior to Kristen's "Twilight" stardom back in 2008.

Talking with MTV News about the growth which he's seen in Miss Stewart since shooting "Welcome to the Rileys," director Jake Scott said, "She's grown up. She's a woman now."

Adding that he saw the "seedlings" of a mature woman in her from their first meetup, Scott added, "It was an act of courage on her part, especially when you consider she was just 18."

Hollywood Studios Plan Films re: Kidnapping of Colombian Ingrid Betancourt

Ingrid Betancourt's abduction by the FARC is to form the basis of two new Hollywood films, reports Hollywood Reporter.

One will be based on Betancourt's own account of her six years in the jungle, while the other will focus on the plight of her husband, Juan Carlos Lecompte, as he struggled to deal with his wife's imprisonment.

The Kennedy/Marshall Co. won the filming rights to Betancourt's biography, "Even Silence has an End," for which Betancourt signed a $1 million deal in 2008 with Penguin Press. Work is now in progress to re-write the story into a screenplay based on the book.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan-American director Bett Kaplan is planning a film project from the perspective of two books written by Lecompte, "In Search of Ingrid" and "Ingrid and Me: A Sweet and Sour Freedom," which focus on Lecompte's search for his wife.

GATW Interviews Zach Galifianakis and His Beard

If I wanted to get really creepy, I’d say the song that describes my interview with Zach Galifianakis would be “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. Well, I just said that this song describes my interview, so I guess creepy will start off this interview.

Interviewing Galifianakis is a rarity – you have no idea what to expect him to say. Prior to walking in, I had all of these skits in my head, jokes and ideas that I wanted to use, but what you are about to see is what came out. Gali. is a very, very funny man off camera as well as he is on.

Joan Collins is trying to explain why she told a British magazine that Jennifer Aniston is cute, but not beautiful like Angelina Jolie.

Collins tells Us Weekly her comments were taken out of context but doesn't deny the Jen/Angelina comparison:

"The bottom line is that I talked about several actresses, among them Catherine Zeta-Jones, Scarlett Johansson and Megan Fox. Unfortunately, everybody got cut out [except Aniston and Jolie]. Typical. That's the way it goes."

Aniston's camp has acknowledged Collins' comments, saying there is "no need to engage with that nonsense."

'Glee' Music Producer on 'Rocky Horror' Episode: 'Why Can't a Girl Be the Transvestite?'

With another themed episode of 'Glee' just a day away, fans of the 1975 cult classic 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' are in a tizzy about Tim Curry's iconic Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite, being portrayed by actress Amber Riley, a female.

"They're up in arms about that. But, really, why can't a girl be the transvestite?" 'Glee' music producer Adam Anders tells PopEater. The show, he contends, "is about inclusion."

Riley, who plays Mercedes Jones, will perform 'Sweet Tranvestite' in the episode dubbed 'The Rocky Horror Glee Show.' John Stamos has been quoted saying he was supposed to take the Frank-N-Furter role, but FOX balked at the idea of the former Uncle Jesse in fishnets and a corset.

Anders also reminds us that tomorrow's 'Glee' is "an ode to the original" 'Rocky Horror' rather than a remake. "We freshen it up a little bit."

Lindsay Lohan Needs a Rehab Sponsor!

Lindsay Lohan was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Elden Fox to remain in rehab until January 3rd instead of more jail time. It looks like the best thing to happen to Lindsay since her downward spiral began. Except, she may not be able to afford her stay at the Betty Ford Center.

According to Popeater's, Lindsay can't afford to pay for treatment,” due to the whopping $50,000 cost for her three month stay at the Betty Ford rehab facility.  Money Lindsay “doesn't have.” Considering how much all the court proceedings and bail were it's really not a surprise. Even her probation report claims Lohan's clothing line is falling apart and the money from her new movie Inferno will have to wait until after she leaves rehab.  So the news is Lindsay Lohan is looking for a generous sponsor to donate the $50,000 to get her life back on track.

Do you think somone will donate the money for Lohan's rehab?

Rosario Dawson in Malibu Magazine aka best part of Unstoppable

Interviewed By: Sonja Magdesvski. Photography By: Sheryl Nields. Rosario Dawson could have said no. How often do all of us say “no” in a day? It was a “yes” that changed her life forever. When approached at the age of 15, while sitting on her front stoop in New York City’s Lower East Side, by a “writer” and “director” who simply “had to have her in their movie,” she didn’t laugh at them in an awkward teenage way; she went inside to tell her parents. Then she jumped on the back of her dad’s bicycle as he peddled her to the film office to verify the legitimacy of their claims — and legit they were.

There is a joke that most people have heard about the man trapped on his roof in a rising flood. A rowboat drifts by, and the man paddling yells out, “Hey, jump in!” The trapped man says, “Go ahead without me, I’m waiting for God to help me.” Then, a man in a speedboat drives by and shouts, “Hurry! Jump in! The water is rising!” but the man says again, “Go ahead without me. I am waiting for God to save me.” Then a helicopter flies by and the pilot yells, “Hey, man, grab on! The water is rising!” Again the man says, “Go on ahead. I am waiting for God!” The water rises. The man dies. When face-to-face with God, he asks, “Why have you forsaken me?” And God replies, “What are you talking about? I sent you a rowboat, a speedboat and a helicopter.”

Dawson was courageous enough to get the message the first time, even though she may not have understood the responsibilities that came with that decision and where it would ultimately lead her. The movie was Kids, the highly controversial independent film released in 1995 about New York City teenagers belligerently having sex and doing drugs in the era of HIV-AIDS. The filmmakers cast all first-time actors. Dawson laughs at her parents’ first reading of the script and their refusal to allow her to smoke cigarettes in the movie. “So, being this incredibly sexually promiscuous teenager in the film is totally fine, but talking about all of my sexual exploits on film, while holding a cigarette — that’s where you are drawing the line?”

Wife Of America's Got Talent Contestant Found Dead In Hotel Stairwell

Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found dead in a hotel stairwell while visiting her husband—a contestant on America’s Got Talent, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

What’s more, RadarOnline.com has also learned that the the dead woman’s husband, Joe Finley, auditioned while his wife Laura Finley, 48, was still missing.

Laura’s body was found in a stairwell at the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Her time of death is listed at 8:25 am. The hit show America’s Got Talent was holding auditions at the hotel.

Joe Finley reported his wife missing to hotel security, and then auditioned for the show, RadarOnline.com learned exclusively.

Finley reportedly fell from the 11th floor to the 3rd floor. Police have deferred the cause of the death, and as of Monday, it was undetermined whether Finley’s death was a homicide, suicide or accident. Coroner’s officials said she died at 8:25 am.

Lt. Vernon of LAPD told RadarOnline.com that this is “an undetermined death but appears to be accidental.”

The production company for America’s Got Talent, Fremantle Media, released a statement exclusively to RadarOnline.com on Monday. Fremantle spokesperson, Manfred Westphal, told us, “We are fully cooperating with authorities to investigate this very unfortunate situation and have no further comment at this time.”

Ironically, according to an LAPD spokesperson, Joe Finley was arrested Saturday night for drug possession and taken into custody after police brought him in for questioning about his wife’s death. He was released Sunday morning after posting $10,000.00 bail.

Tiger's Mistress Calls His Wife A Gold Digger, and Good in Bed: In Tell-All Book

One of Tiger Woods’ alleged mistress is $pilling explosive charges about her time with the golfer – for profit.

Loredana Jolie
has written a tell-all book titled Loredana Jolie dishes in "The Real Diary: Lessons from the Good Time Girl to Champion” and according to the New York Post she paints Tiger’s wife Elin Nordegren as an uncaring gold digger.

Her other shocking charges include that Tiger was “kind of” addicted to pills and she saw him taking sleeping pills and painkillers; that the champion golfer fantasized sexually about men and participated in threesomes with Jolie and other women.

Jolie, 27, is an escort and according to the Post she writes: "He liked to watch girl-on-girl, and the girls would occasionally join us. I would make him fantasize. I would ask him what if I had another guy here with me while he was there with me. It kind of turned him on a little.”

Her book goes on sale next month as the one-year anniversary of Tiger’s famous Thanksgiving crash into a tree approaches. That crash happened after the National Enquirer exposed his affair with Rachel Uchitel and it triggered the revelation of his secret cheating life and led to his stint in rehab for sexual addiction.

And now it’s time for the first tell-all book.

While praising Tiger’s sexual prowess, Jolie slams his wife. "Obviously they didn't have such a close relationship because if I was in his house where the hell was she?" she writes, according to the Post.

"If I had my husband, I would make sure I know [who] was coming to my house. At that point I started realizing it was more (or) less financial reasons why they were married -- she was in it for the money."

Jolie says she had a sexual relationship with Tiger from 2006 to 2008 and took $15,000 from him once, according to the Post.

And like many of Tiger’s women, Jolie says she received sexy text messages and photos from the golfer.

Apparently so enthralled by Tiger’s prowess, Jolie fumbles for words and can’t decide which cliché is more appropriate to describe how she felt with him – being in Seventh Heaven or on Cloud Nine. So she writes: "When I was having my relationship with Tiger. I was like on the seventh cloud especially from a sexual perspective." she raves, apparently confusing Cloud 9 with seventh heaven. "There is at least no doubt about the fact that Tiger was awesome in bed."

'"You're a wizard, Harry," echoes the epic sentence dictated by the half-giant Hagrid the beginning of this new video which summarizes all the Harry Potter films released to date. The amazing special effects, which evolved into "Sorcerer's Stone", "Chamber of Secrets," "Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix" and "Half-Blood Prince" are now shown together in unprecedented scenes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, overproduction of the next series.

In a video about 2 and a half minutes, Warner Bros.. could give us a feeling of how great the series of films based on JK Rowling's books have become.'

Michael Cera's Finger-Lickin' Lunch

Yesterday, Master de Awkward Michael Cera strolled over to Yuca's in Los Feliz for a carnita's burrito lunch.  The meal was so delicious it necessitated a Cheeto's-esque finger-lickin' finish.

Michael was joined at the table by writer/director Max Winkler (yup, spawn of this wonder), a dude who looks like a cross breed of Daniel Radcliffe and Matt Long, and a fourth friend (just so no one felt like a spare tire... while feeding on food that usually results in a spare tire).Collapse )

The Top 15 Moments In Harry Potter Movie Franchise ....... so far.

15. The Owl on Privet Drive (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone)
We start our list at the very first moment of the very first film. While void of thrilling plots and or bombastic moments, the eerie lighting, the fog, the essential Britishness of the street name and the sign, the odd sight of the owl where it ought not to be, and that mysterious John Williams score perfectly set the stage for the entire series. It was pure movie magic right from the start and in one brief moment, director Chris Columbus managed to completely capture the essence of the novels - so much so that it almost immediately quieted any worried or prematurely irate fan. It was clear movie audiences were witnessing very something special and that we were all be in for quite a ride.

Top 10 Kills From The 'Halloween' Series

With the Halloween holiday fast approaching, Blood-Disgusting has picked the top 10 kills in the Halloween series (including Rob Zombie's remakes).

The span of Halloween films stretching from Carpenter's 1978 original to Rob Zombie's highly polemical Halloween 2 "remake" released just last year, Myers has claimed a whopping 110 victims. And while he's not as creative a killer as contemporaries Jason Voorhees or Freddy Krueger (though with Krueger it's really not a fair comparison – he can manipulate people's dreams for chrissakes), none of those others are capable of wielding a good old fashioned kitchen knife in quite the same way. Sometimes, simplicity is key.

ABC Cancels 'The Whole Truth'

Despite buzz that ABC was giving The Whole Truth one more week to prove itself, the network has gone and canceled the low-rated legal drama. The news was confirmed on Twitter by co-executive producer KristieAnne Reed. “ABC gave us the word,” she tweeted. “We will only make 13 episodes of The Whole Truth.” It’s unclear how many of Truth‘s remaining unaired episodes will see the light of day; an original episode is still scheduled to air on Wednesday.

I saw one episode and it wasn't very good.
