Watch: Karen Elson Plays Letterman - “The Ghost Who Walks”

Ahead of Third Man Records’ release of her next 7-inch single off The Ghost Who Walks, “The Truth Is In The Dirt,” Karen Elson performed the title track off her record tonight on the Late Show with David Letterman, proving (once again) that Jack White’s production was simply icing on the cake of this fabulous debut LP. Singing alongside Meg White’s husband, Jackson Smith (son of Patti and MC5’s Fred “Sonic” Smith, no less), Elson stole the show with her 1912 Gibson acoustic in tow.

Another Witness Claims To Have Seen Lindsay Lohan "Clip" A Woman Pushing A Stroller

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I'm guessing Lindsay Lohan and her people are very happy it's a holiday weekend, meaning most people aren't paying attention to the news and things can just die down. Remember my fact or fiction post from Friday about a paparazzo claiming Lindsay hit a woman pushing a stroller?

Well, Radar Online now reports that another witness has come forward with the same claim.

"I pulled up next to Lindsay after I saw her knock the stroller," said Austin Visschedyk, a photographer who was on the scene. "I said; Whoa, what the f*** are you doing?"

Lohan was momentarily speechless, according to Austin, before she replied: "Well, I saw them, but they didn’t move out of the way."

Lindsay reportedly was driving the Maserati she picked up the day after she left rehab. However, she's said to have returned the car, according to Radar Online. I can't tell what car she's getting into in these pictures, which were taken on Friday, when Lindsay was spotted leaving a movie.

It's interesting that no one from Lindsay's camp has denied this story, but maybe they're concerned that issuing a denial will just get the story more attention. Or it actually did happen.

My question: why did NO ONE call the police if this happened? At least it sounds like no one was seriously hurt. Thank goodness for that.

Kristen Bell Rallies Fans Via Twitter To Get 'Veronica Mars' Movie Made

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Once again, we can see the effects of social networking sites like twitter! Kristen Bell is rallying fans on twitter to either get Warner Bros to make her old TV show, 'Veronica Mars,' into a movie or to release the rights so she and the 'Veronica Mars' creators can make it independently.

mars fans-can we bug @wbpictures & tell em the must do a VM film?? new tactic. bombard em w/tweets, theres evidence of fans they cant ignore

#veronicamars fans send petitions & any obsessive behaior u have 2 @wbpictures & demand the film. they c no audience 4 it? i beg 2 differ.

lets include the man with the plan @slaverat1 (creator) & @danetheridge (prod) on this tweet fest...they wanna make it but need fan support

unfortuently they own the rights. they gotta make it, or set it free! we would be happy to make it privately! [sic]

Were you a fan of 'Veronica Mars'? I'd like seeing an adult Veronica Mars :) Kristen also urges fans to check out her new movie, 'You Again,' which makes sense. If she can "carry a movie," then it probably increases the odds of making a 'Veronica Mars' movie.

Some dude on THE SOCIAL NETWORK, NEVER LET ME GO, AND SPIDER MAN: RETURN TO SPIDER MOUNTAIN

Though his "Red Riding" films screened at Telluride last year, Andrew Garfield, who co-stars in “Never Let Me Go,” is up at the festival for the first time this year. The new film, directed by Mark Romanek, screened Friday night. I got a few minutes to talk with Garfield Sunday about his experience at the fest, the psychology of Tommy, the fragile character he plays in "Never Let Me Go," and his future as Spider-Man.

What’s your experience of Telluride so far?

'Lost' Loses Emmys, But Final Season is a DVD Winner

“Lost” may not have received a lot of Emmy love, but video watchers wanted to take a trip back to the island last week. The DVD set of the castaway drama’s sixth and final season topped the sales charts, according to Rentrak.

On the rental end, the Tina Fey and Steve Carell comedy “Date Night” held on to the top spot for the third straight week. The week’s big release, Jennifer Lopez’s pregnancy comedy “The Back-Up Plan” couldn’t top “Lost” and “Date Night,” instead having to settle for second place on both the rental and sales charts.

In its second week of release, Miley Cyrus’ bid for grown-up respectability “The Last Song,” slipped from first place on the sales chart to third. The critically vivisected tween romance fell one spot on the rental chart to claim fourth place.‘Lost” wasn’t the only television series to make its presence felt on the sales chart. Just in time to stoke anticipation for the fall launch of several hit shows, DVD collections of the fourth season of “Dexter” and the seventh season of “NCIS” were the fourth and fifth bestselling discs.

Next week brings the release of Michael Caine’s vigilante thriller “Harry Brown,” talking dog comedy “Marmaduke,” and Tyler Perry’s relationship drama “Why Did I Get Married Too?”

Morrissey: Chinese People Are A 'Subspecies'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Morrissey described the people of China as a subspecies because of the way they treat animals, and he is is standing by his remarks.

The outspoken former Smiths frontman, a longtime vegetarian and animal rights advocate, told the Guardian Weekend magazine:

"Did you see the thing on the news about their treatment of animals and animal welfare? Absolutely horrific. You can't help but feel that the Chinese are a subspecies."

The interview was done by poet Simon Armitage, who told the Guardian:

"I thought at the time it was a dangerous thing to say into a tape recorder. He must have known it would make waves, he's not daft. But he's provocative and theatrical, and it was one of dozens of dramatic pronouncements. I'm not an apologist for that kind of remark, and couldn't ignore it. But clearly, when it comes to animal rights and animal welfare, he's absolutely unshakable in his beliefs. In his view, if you treat an animal badly, you are less than human. I think that was his point."

Morrissey has been called a racist before for lyrics in songs such as 'Bengali in Platforms' and 'Asian Rut,' and for the anti-immigration comments he made to NME music magazine in 2007.

But he's not backing down on this one. He later said in a statement:

"If anyone has seen the horrific and unwatchable footage of the Chinese cat and dog trade - animals skinned alive - then they could not possibly argue in favour of China as a caring nation. There are no animal protection laws in China and this results in the worst animal abuse and cruelty on the planet. It is indefensible."

ELO founder killed by bale of hay

A founding member of rock group Electric Light Orchestra was killed when a giant bale of hay tumbled down a hill and crashed onto his van.

Cellist Mike Edwards died after the 600kg bale careered down the side of a steep Devonshire field before it smashed through a hedge and onto the road.

The 62-year-old died instantly in the accident on Friday afternoon.

Police are now investigating whether the bale may have fallen from a tractor working on farmland next to the A381 in Halwell, near Totnes.

They believe the musician was killed after the loose bale gathered momentum as it rolled down the hill before landing on the front of his van.

He is understood to have swerved into a similar vehicle as he was hit.

The second driver was unhurt in the collision.

Sergeant Steve Walker of the Devon and Cornwall police traffic unit said: "This was a tragic accident and we have now identified the victim as Michael Edwards, a founder member of ELO.

"We have used photographs and YouTube footage to identify him but we now need help contacting his family for formal identification.

"We don't believe he was ever married and we have identified an ex-girlfriend but she is currently abroad."

Officers were hoping to contact a man named David in the Yorkshire area who is believed to be Edwards' brother.

Disney's Tangled Cast & Crew Interviews

The clip contains interviews with Mandy Moore (Rapunzel) and Zachary Levi (Flynn Rider) and an extended look at the movie containing new footage from the film.

With every piece of footage they release, my excitement for this movie grows. It's looking more and more gorgeous every single time something new comes out. And you can really feel that classic Disney style coming through, regardless of the marketing spin they are trying to pull. I can't wait for the new trailer, which should be out soon!

Bitch Get Out Of My Toilet Stall

Idol Reject Hit With Battery Charge
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
An unfortunate bathroom break has left an American Idol alum facing possible jail time.

Asia'h Epperson, who was eliminated in the semifinals of the seventh season, has been charged with misdemeanor battery resulting from a brawl at a Hollywood nightclub, a spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office tells E! News.

Yes, it's a case of toilet rage.

The wannabe popster is accused of fighting with another woman in a ladies room. While neither appeared to suffer injuries, the unidentified victim filed a criminal complaint against the 21-year-old Epperson, and police later took her into custody outside the venue.

The Idol alum is scheduled to appear in a Hollywood court tomorrow, when she'll presumably be arraigned and receive a future court date.

If convicted, Epperson faces up to six months in jail.

Which is almost as bad as a dissing from Simon.

Financing Has Collapsed for Gilliam's Don Quixote

Variety says that Terry Gilliam's The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has experienced more than the "hiccup" reported in August.

"The financing collapsed about a month and a half ago," Gilliam said Saturday at the Deauville American Film Festival. "I shouldn't be here. The plan was to be shooting 'Quixote' right now."

He added that he wants to still make the movie.

"Robert Duvall is Quixote, Ewan McGregor is also there, and we are looking for new financing right now," he said.

:( :( :( Is this EVER going to get made?? "Lost in La Mancha" is agonizing to watch; it details how everything went wrong the first time around. You've got to give Gilliam points for determination. (We need a "disastuh" tag.)

Irreverent Cuban Movie Promises Zombie Revolution; Unclear if Zombie Castro will make Cameo

Irreverent Cuban movie promises zombie revolution

By PAUL HAVEN, Associated Press Writer
Sat Sep 4, 12:12 pm ET

HAVANA – What would you do if your entire city was taken over by flesh-eating zombies and communist leaders insisted it was nothing but a plot by U.S-backed dissidents to destabilize the government?

If you were the protagonist of Juan de los Muertos — "Juan of the Dead" — the first zombie flick ever shot in post-revolutionary Cuba, you'd figure out how to make some cash out of the carnage.

Part horror show, part social satire, the soon-to-be-shot movie has the backing of a Spanish production company, a green light from Cuban authorities and a budget that dwarfs most big-screen offerings from the island.

And its irreverent humor — one blurb for the film proclaims: "Fifty years later, a new Revolution has begun" — could make Juan of the Dead the next big thing in Cuban cinema, and give it a real chance at global success.

It is the second film by 34-year-old writer-director Alejandro Brugues, who says his idea was to tell a story that was authentically Cuban — but within the logic of a camp zombie flick. Closest to his heart, he said, is a quintessential island knack for making ends meet, whether by keeping a rusty '57 Chevy on the road for half a century, or finding a way to feed a family on a salary of $20 a month.

▲Spooky Lindsay Lohan Tribute Mixtape▲

Tri Angle Records Presents “Let Me Shine for You”

Inspired in part by Lindsay Lohan’s grotesquely fascinating black hole existence and in part by my unwavering belief in the power of pop music as an artform, I saw an opportunity to create something interesting with her music, and decided to ask some friends to reinterpret some of Lindsay’s songs. “Tri Angle Records Presents: Let Me Shine for You” is the result. Even though we are all fond of Lindsay in our own ways, there is no FREE LINDSAY agenda here. We all love pop music and this is merely an experiment. All of our intentions are very sincere.

First Listen: Chromeo, 'Business Casual' - stream the album before it releases

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Chromeo, the duo of Patrick Gemayel (a.k.a. P-Thugg) and David Macklovitch (a.k.a. Dave 1), boldly embraces '80s-style electro-funk. The two began working together in high school, originally focusing on hip-hop, but since their 2004 debut (She's in Control), they've energized dance floors worldwide. Their latest release, Business Casual, takes a sophisticated approach to their glossy sound and finds earnest pop ballads coexisting alongside club bangers.

Chromeo continues to hone its songwriting skills — a process its members credit to their recent collaborations with Daryl Hall, with whom Chromeo performed this summer. The retro pop influence is clear, particularly in Business Casual's snappy "Grow Up."

3D SAVES BOX OFFICE

If it hadn’t been for 3D, the summer box office would have seen the worst returns in 13 years
, figures released on Friday indicated. Ticket sales fell to 552 million, the fewest since 1997, although total receipts rose to a record $4.35 billion — up 2 percent from last summer. The results appeared to validate theater owners’ decision to install expensive 3D digital projectors and IMAX-dedicated auditoriums. But the Los Angeles Times observed on Saturday that the 3D phenomenon may be coming to an end. “Many in Hollywood concede that the public’s appetite for paying extra to put on glasses and see images leap out of the screen may already be reaching a limit,” the newspaper observed, noting that several recent 3D movies have bombed, including Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Step Up 3-D, and Piranha 3-D.

Finally, I am so sick of 3-D!

Movies That Would Have Been Ruined by Facebook

Let's face it: Every time technology makes your life more convenient, it makes it that much harder for a decent screenwriter to spin a good yarn. There's GPS if you're lost, cell phones if you're in trouble and Twitter if -- actually, Twitter doesn't really do anything substantially useful for you.

But more than almost any other modern-day technology, Facebook, with its easy access to information about people's lives, is a killer for classic Hollywood plots. From the girl who got away to mistaken identities, many storylines that once plagued our favorite movies have now been rendered obsolete thanks to the uber-popular social media site.

Which got us to thinking: What would Hollywood have done if Facebook had existed before 2004? Check out some movies we think wouldn't have worked if Facebook had been around back in the day.

Flawless goddess Tilda Swinton talks about new film and love life

In a celebrity world where the personalities can be as fake as their breasts, Tilda Swinton is an anomaly.

Far from the glamour of Hollywood, the actress is speaking to me from her Scottish Highland home of Nairn. Just as far from Hollywood is her latest film, I Am Love, an independent European drama that featured in the New Zealand Film Festival this year, in which Swinton plays Emma Recchi, a Russian-born Italian married to a Milanese aristocrat.

"It's not a personal story for me, it's nothing I particularly know about," she says of her role as Recchi. "But it's a subject that both Luca [Guadagnino, director] and I care about – this idea of a milieu, this particular kind of slightly edited way of living that these people are involved in and placing in the heart of it the idea of the revolution of love."

Meaning? Well, the New York Times described the film as a "near-ethnographic scrutiny of a social class most of us only read about in glossy lifestyle magazines".

While Recchi – a role that required Swinton to learn Italian with a Russian accent – loves her husband, she isn't really in love with him, and so to fill that lusty void she takes up with her son's friend. The ensuing highly stylised sex scene has been both ridiculed and lauded by critics.

"The film is really a sense-ational experience," Swinton says. "It's important for people to just go into their own feelings and find whatever they want there." Watch the fleshy, naturist sequence filled with insects and make up your own mind. Collapse )

Joined by Moore's daughters Rumer and Scout, the group spent the day at the pink-themed Hollywood Hills home of hosts Balthazar and Rosetta Getty.

"The party was very small and intimate," a source tells PEOPLE. "Ashton and Demi looked happy and totally unaffected by recent relationship rumors. James and Kim were glowing. Despite being about to burst, Kim looked amazing."

Guests of the low-key affair, catered by H.wood and h.wood tea beverages, were served sushi, sliders, beet salad and mixed veggies.

Unfortunately, the life of a famous young woman is more complicated than simply cocktail parties and movie premieres. Let's look at some factors which play into why these ladies have faced a torrential storm of problems and why their chances of avoiding similar troubles in the future is lower than you would hope.

Charges Dropped in Travolta Extortion Case

NASSAU, Bahamas – A judge in the Bahamas dismissed charges Monday against two people accused of trying to extort money from John Travolta after the prosecutor said the actor no longer wanted to pursue a case stemming from the death of his teenage son.

Prosecutor Neil Braithwaite had submitted a motion to drop the case after a jury had already been picked and a retrial scheduled for the two defendants.

"The Travolta family has said that this matter has caused them unbelievable stress and pain and they wish to put this whole thing behind them," Braithwaite said.

Ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne and his attorney, politician Pleasant Bridgewater, were accused of threatening to release private information about the January 2009 death of Travolta's 16-year-old son Jett at the family vacation home in Grand Bahama.

Lightbourne, who was among the medics who treated Jett, allegedly sought $25 million from the actor with the assistance of Bridgewater, who resigned her seat in the Bahamas Senate after she was charged in the case.

A judge declared a mistrial in October after a Bahamian lawmaker suggested the still-deliberating jury had acquitted one of the suspects.

Travolta had testified during that trial and one of his attorneys said in October that he had been prepared to testify again if necessary. But the actor said Monday that the delay in prosecuting the case had prompted his decision not to take the stand again

"The long-pending status of this matter continued to take a heavy emotional toll on my family, causing us to conclude that it was finally time to put this matter behind us," he said in a statement to The Associated Press. Therefore, after much reflection I concluded that it was in my family's best interest for me not to voluntarily return to The Bahamas to testify a second time at trial."

Jean-Luc Godard won't travel to accept Oscar

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

According to Jean-Luc Godard’s wife, the director will not be traveling to the U.S. to accept an honorary Academy Award, The Australian reports. The Academy announced last month that the Breathless helmer would be given the prize during the Governors Awards in November, but could not locate Godard in order to inform him. Godard’s wife Anne-Marie Mieville, however, informed The Australian that the filmmaker would not attend, but did not intend to snub Oscar. “He just told me, ‘It’s not the Oscars,’” she said. “At first he thought it was going to be part of the same ceremony, then he realized it was a separate thing in November.”

She continued: “Jean-Luc won’t go to America, he’s getting old for that kind of thing. Would you go all that way just for a bit of metal?” Mieville told reporters that a member of Godard’s production team will likely show up to accept the award on his behalf. She also insisted that the director plans to respond to the Academy regarding the honor.

Hunger Games post !! May the odds be in your favor, ONTD.

Real or not Real ? The Hunger Games movie has 3 possible directors, and Hit-Girl may play Katniss.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Can the internal monologue-heavy first Hunger Games book become a decent movie? We're still not sure, but at least A-list people are getting involved — including Kick-Ass' Chloe Moretz — and everybody's calling it the possible next Twlight.

According to Deadline, there are three directors in the running to adapt the first book: Gary Ross (Pleasantville), Sam Mendes (American Beauty), and David Slade (30 Days Of Night). And the director will be chosen by the end of this week. The movie's script is done — it was written by novelist Suzanne Collins herself, with a rewrite by Billy Ray. There's some speculation that if Slade gets the director gig on Hunger Games, he may have to bail out of Wolverine 2, which he's also in talks to direct. In any case, whichever of these three directors wins the gig, it'll be a gorgeous-looking film.

As for who will play the all-important role of Katniss Everdeen, USA Today says there's only one name on the shortlist: Chloe Moretz, who's kind of cornered the market on dangerous girls lately by playing Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass and Abby in Let Me In. (Some reports say that Twilight's Kristen Stewart is also in the running, but that seems incredibly unlikely for all sorts of reasons.)

As with all anonymous reports, you have to take this stuff with a bit of a grain of salt. But it seems likely that the movie's director and star will be announced within a week — and filming should begin early next year. Fingers crossed that Collins and Ray found a way to convey the disparity between Katniss' outward acts and her inner calculations somehow. [via ScreenRant]

Rabbit Horror 3D!

After creating “The Shock Labyrinth 3D”, which is Asia’s first 3D horror film, director Shimizu Takashi (38) is all set to work on his second 3D horror film. The movie he has planned is titled “Rabbit Horror 3D”, and it will star Mitsushima Hikari (24).

Rabbit Horror 3D will be filmed using Panasonic’s dual-lens AG-3DA1 camera, and it will use Christian Doyle as the main cinematographer. The movie is inspired by Alice in Wonderland, as the story mainly focuses on a stuffed rabbit from an alternate world. Just to give an outline of the movie, it tells the story of Mitsushima’s brother, who is sent to an alternate world after receiving the rabbit. To retrieve her brother, Mitsushima’s character will unravel the secret behind the animal.

The cast for the movie includes Kagawa Teruyuki (44), Omori Nao (38), and Ogawa Tamaki (38). The filming is expected to be finished on September 8, as director Shimizu is set to go the Venice Film Festival. He’ll be heading the jury of the event’s 3D competition, and he also plans to show some footage from this movie there.

“Rabbit Horror 3D” will open in theatres in 2011.

I went to Philadelphia and it was frightening. I was visiting this theatre company that did weird stuff, and they owned this apartment at the top of an old building, separated from the rest of the world by huge metal gates. But when we got to the building they were like, “OK, let’s run for it to avoid all the crackheads and beggars!” And as we ran across the carpark all these people came shuffling out of nowhere, looking like creatures or zombies – and I remember us jamming the gates shut to keep them out.

We had a party on the top floor, and we were just standing on the fire escape looking out over Philadelphia. And in the distance it looked beautiful – we could see the lights of the business district of the city. But right below us looked like Beirut or something, with all these burnt out cars and weird buildings with the windows boarded up.

Then we heard this weird noise and this ice cream van appeared – and it was painted brown! It wasn’t even on the road, and it just drove across the grass outside the building, playing this weird, discordant tune. Diddle-ding-ding-ding! All out of tune. And all these people starting coming out of these condemned buildings – and our hosts told us it was the Crack Van!

Pamela Anderson To Film Sex Scene With Fan

Pamela Anderson To Film Sex Scene With Fan

Pamela Anderson is set to make one lucky fan's dreams come true - she's offering to film a bedroom scene with a complete stranger for a new contest.

The former "Baywatch" beauty, who hit the headlines in the 1990s after filming a sex tape with her then-husband Tommy Lee, has agreed to be filmed frolicking in bed with the winner of phone firm Nokia's latest competition.

The short movie, called "The Commuter," is to be shot in high definition on the company's N8 mobile handset and premiered in London next month

Another cameo role opposite "Gossip Girl" actor Ed Westwick, to be shot in an elevator, is up for grabs in the contest.

John Nichols, head of marketing at Nokia UK, explains, "We wanted to create something very special for the launch of the Nokia N8 that showcases the Hollywood quality of its camera."

Has anyone seen it yet? Bar the intrusive soundtrack and the actor who played Chris (who was absolutely shithouse), I really liked it!

Brian McKnight Denies Porn Star's Shocking Claim That She Was Raped At His Home

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Brian McKnight has responded to allegations that a porn star was raped in his home while he was out of town, RadarOnline.com has learned.  The singer confirms that the allegation was made but insists it was thoroughly investigated by police who did not arrest the accused man.

The allegation became public when the website Media Takeout reported that porn star Alana Evans has posted on her Twitter page that she's been raped by a man at McKnight's home in 2008, and that the singer's two teenage sons had held her down while the assault occurred.

Evans has since closed her Twitter page to outsiders but according to Media Takeout's report, she claimed the LAPD did nothing to help her because of her profession.

Now McKnight, the Grammy-winning singer and talk show host, is speaking out.

"We take the accusations made by Ms. Evans very seriously," McKnight says in a statement to RadarOnline.com.

"I was made aware of a party at my house in my absence in December of 2008. I was in NYC, and both my boys (ages 15 & 17 at that time) were at the house with some friends. I can confirm that Ms. Evans was in fact at the house, as I discovered she provided some of the liquor.

"Being as I was not home at the time, I cannot speak absolutely regarding all the events of the evening, however my sons did inform me that due to Ms. Evans level of intoxication, that they placed her alone in a bedroom so she could "sleep it off." The next morning Ms. Evans stayed and socialized at the house until approximately 2PM."

Evans says the man who raped her is Nicholas Hayes, and McKnight acknowledges that allegation.

"Two days after the party, Ms. Evans contacted the LAPD," McKnight continued in the statement. "The police came to the house and questioned the entire family and Mr. Hayes with  the full cooperation of the McKnight family. Mr. Hayes retained a lawyer, and cooperated in a month long investigation. The police concluded that no rape had occurred, and no charges were ever filed. This information is all part of the official police report.

"Rape is a very serious matter, and not something we take lightly. I truly hope that Ms. Evans was not discriminated by the police because of her profession. I believe that the police concluded simply that no crime had taken place.

"That being said,'if I ever had knowledge of such a vile and reprehensible act by anyone whether they were friends or family, I would never work to 'protect' that person. The statement that Mr. Hayes has been banned from my home is not true. "

He signs off: "Thank you, Brian, Brian Jr & Niko McKnight."
