I just got off the phone with producer Tarquin Pack, who was promoting the brand new Kick-Ass DVD and Blu-ray that just hit the shelves yesterday, August 3. Pack, who was a producer on Kick-Ass, is also serving as a producer for director Matthew Vaughn on his new film, X-Men: First Class, which is about to begin filming. I was able to get in a few questions about this highly-anticipated film, including the rumors that Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson was a part of the cast, the tone of the new film and more on the story from a few days ago about Vaughn removing parts of the script due to similarities with Inception. Here's what he had to say below.

Jane spills secrets of the Glee Britney Spears episode – and confides that she doesn’t actually know any of the singer’s songs!
The rumors are true, BFFs: someone will definitely be losing his hair for the Britney Spears episode of Glee!
“You know, it’s going to happen,” the show’s star, Jane Lynch, told HollywoodLife.com exclusively after getting her own wax figure at Madame Tussaud’s in Hollywood August 4. “It’ll happen – a certain cast member will shave HIS head!” When we suggested that said cast member would be Matthew Morrison (aka hottie glee coach Mr. Schuester), Jane merely smiled mysteriously.
After confirming creator Ryan Murphy’s news that the show would be paying tribute to Brit in a “fun and unexpected way”, Jane also told us that the cast is actually shooting the Britney episode TODAY and will be the second episode of the season. But as for what songs they’ll be performing, the 50-year-old comedienne is clueless. “You know I have to tell you, I am being educated on Britney Spears,” she said. “I don’t know any of her stuff.”
Don’t worry, Jane. You’ll be singing “Oops, I Did It Again” in no time!
Starting this up again because there is only 9 cheftestants left and a little less shit to wade through.

BFFs, you really need to hear this. Julia Roberts’ reason for refusing plastic surgery is so good, so eloquent and so WISE that we couldn’t wait to share it with you!
“I want my kids to know when I’m pissed, when I’m happy and when I’m confounded,” the 42-year-old actress says in the September issue of Elle magazine. “Your face tells a story and it shouldn’t be a story about your drive to the doctor’s office.”
The Eat, Pray, Love star didn’t stop there, either. “It’s unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons. I want to have some idea of what I’ll look like before I start cleaning the slates,” she says.
For now, Julia – who admits to the magazine that she’s a Hindu – is content to play mom to 3-year-old Henry and 5-year-old twins Phinnaeaus and Hazel. “You make these people and you love them and you want them around for a thousand years,” she tells the magazine, adding, “I’ve been so spoiled with my friends and family in this life,” she says. “Next time I want to be just something quiet and supporting.”
How’s that for aging gracefully?
Little Joe McElderry's brave decision to come out has earned him a new legion of fans, it seems.
Since the singer revealed to The Mirror that he was gay, thousands of fans have Tweeted messages of support, and logged onto his site.
And celebs haven't been slow in coming forward either. We're told: "Matt Lucas, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Will Young have all sent Joe their support. He's even had two letters from MPs! Everyone's been amazing and, rather than losing fans, Joe is more in demand than ever."
The singer, 19, has also been signed up Stateside by David Beckham's US agency, CAA.
Adds our source: "He has a meeting with a Disney executive next week about something extremely exciting. It is so hard for Brits to crack the States but Americans love his small stature, winning smile and dimples."
Let's hope they understand Geordie too.
It's a good day to be gay.

On September 7th, exactly 14 years to the day Tupac was shot, the network will air One Night in Vegas as a continuation of their 30 For 30 series. The Reggie Bythewood directed piece will focus not only on the shooting which occurred mere hours after Mike Tyson’s destruction of Bruce Seldon, but more importantly on the brotherhood type bond the two shared. If executed correctly, this installment has the potential to find itself along with The Two Escobars, Without Bias and The U as some of the series’ gems.

LOS ANGELES – Pantera found its growl and groove on COWBOYS FROM HELL, a landmark album whose bone-powdering intensity, razor-sharp riffing and pummeling rhythmic assault represented a turning point in modern metal when it was released in 1990. I just stumbled across this amazing slide show of portraits by artist Jason Mecier who has spent the last 10 years creating 3-D mosaic portraits of his favorite pop culture icons. Some portraits are created from the celebrity’s own discarded objects and junk such as broken sunglasses, makeup, gum wrappers, jewelry, deodorant, shoes, and others are made entirely of licorice (like the Taylor Lautner one above). I snagged a few of the portraits like Kathy Griffin, Margaret Cho, Rupaul, Nomi Malone from Show Girls and put them after the cut.
Mecier's apparently has a show up right now, along with artist Adam J. Ansell, at Glama-Rama (304 Valencia St., San Francisco; (415) 861-4526).

Gemma Arterton on The Disappearance of Alice Creed and Not Starring in Transformers 3
In just the past two years, Gemma Arterton's been drowned in crude oil (in Quantum of Solace), stabbed to death (Clash of the Titans), and dropped off a cliff (Prince of Persia) — is it any wonder she's tired of blockbusters? "I don’t want to sound too dismissive of big movies because they are fun and you know, they’re business moves and you can’t just be artistic all the time," she tells us. "But I am more interested in doing only smaller films right now." Up next for Arterton: serious films with girls' names in the titles! The Disappearance of Alice Creed, an indie thriller in which she plays the titular kidnapping victim, is out this week. In the fall, she'll star in Stephen Frears's Tamara Drewe. Vulture spoke with her during a recent visit to New York about Creed, the movie she hopes to make next (Luca Guadagnino's Corsica 72), and why she's not disappointed she wasn't cast in Transformers 3. JOHN LEGEND AND THE ROOTS RE-WORK CLASSICS ON 'WAKE UP!'
To create his fourth studio album, 'Wake Up!' John Legend enlisted the creative guidance of production veterans, The Roots, which has resulted in an album laced with soulful renditions of classic '60s and '70s songs, in addition to the project's sole original track 'Shine.'
Production on 'Wake Up!' began in 2008, when it was merely intended to be a one-track addition to Legend's previous album, 'Evolver.' The BoomBox caught up with the six-time Grammy winner in the studio as he put the finishing touches on this new album. Legend took time to explain the motivation behind his latest body of work.
"It's an album full of socially-conscious songs about empowerment, songs about struggle, songs about standing up for your rights and believing in something bigger than yourself," Legend explains. "Songs about love, connecting people, believing in one another and believing that we all are valuable and that we all have something to offer in the world."
I can't believe Aaron Carter has a tag and John Legend does not. -.-

We’ve found a rumor on the Internet about Selena Gomez’s track list for her latest album, “A Year Without Rain“. The album won’t release until September 28, but supposedly it will feature these tracks:
1. Round And Round
2. A Year Without Rain
3. Off The Chain ft Miley Cyrus
4. Rock God ft. Katy Perry
6. Trust In Me
7. Live Like There’s No Tomorrow
8. Hot ‘N’ Cold
10. The Begging Of The Road ft Demi Lovato
11. True To Myself
12. Headfirst (bonus track)

Selena has said that one song features Katy Perry as backup, and it will be a mix of dance, electronica, and reggae. Rumor has it other Disney darlings Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato will also be featured in seperate songs. Are you looking forward to Selena’s latest album? I have to confess I’d rather listen to Selena than to Miley!

Enrique Iglesias is a man of his word -- 'cause dude just got naked and busted out the water skis to satisfy a bet he made regarding the World Cup ... and lucky for you ... we got it all on tape!
OK, so the footage is pretty grainy ... and shaky ... but still, it's a naked Enrique shredding up the coast of Miami ... just like he told the BBC he would do if Spain won the World Cup ... which they did.
Sources close to Iglesias ... and his situation ... tell us Enrique did the naked run just a few days ago ... "at the end of July" ... telling us the singer wanted to do it because, "A bet is a bet."
Enrique's people wouldn't officially confirm the skinny ski trip ... but they did tell us, "We do not manage Enrique’s personal time schedule but we do know he was in Miami the last week of July.”
In a related note, Enrique had to keep his bare ass stunt top secret because -- as we previously reported -- local law enforcement had threatened to bust Enrique on public nudity charges if they caught him hangin' 11 on their watch.
Someone needs to learn how to work a camera, and needs to buy a better one at that.
We're still without one Lisbeth Salander for David Fincher's US remake/adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo -- though rumor has it that the fight is down to Rooney Mara and Emily Browning -- but at least the Vanger family is starting to take shape.
The story focuses on a journalist named Mikael Blomkvist (to be played by Daniel Craig) who, just as he faces a potentially career-killing drama, is offered a job as a private, historical detective. Years ago, a young woman in the Vanger family went missing, and now the head of the family, Henrik Vanger, wants the mystery solved once and for all. The twist -- his family are all suspects.
Fincher and co. have just started to flesh out the Vangers, starting with one of the principal suspects -- Martin Vanger.
According to Variety, Stellan Skarsgard is in negotiations to play Martin in Fincher's adaptation of the best-selling novel. The actor says: "I have met Fincher, I want to work with him, he wants to work with me. I have had a concrete offer and now we are in negotiations." He goes on to explain that the contract would extend from September to March, with most of the film being shot in Stockholm, with some studio work in the US and perhaps some location work elsewhere.
As far as choices go, Fincher couldn't have done better. Skarsgard is a perfect choice for the role, and it takes no effort to imagine him tackling the path Martin's character takes. Added bonus -- he's Swedish!
But oh, the Sweden thing. I just can't really wrap my head around this idea to keep the story in Sweden, and start to bring on Swedish and international actors. That really just cuts away any BS and states: "US audiences hate subtitles so we're gonna copy the movie in English." Yes, Fincher is a great filmmaker and I'm dying to see what he'd do visually, but right now, the production is quite spoiled with a suffocating feeling of redundancy. We've even heard reports that Fincher wants his cast practicing their Swedish accents, so we won't even be free of the inevitable distracting accent slips.
Any thoughts on who should play the rest of the Vangers? Ignoring accents and nationality, I'd love to see Christopher Plummer play Henrik, but that's as far as my musing has stretched.
It's the Salahis vs. "The View" — specifically, Whoopi Goldberg.
During Michaele Salahi's appearance on "The View" Wednesday to promote "The Real Housewives of DC," Whoopi was backstage as Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd interviewed the Housewives.
When Salahi was distracting from questions about the White House State Dinner she and husband Tareq allegedly crashed, Whoopi came on set to nudge Salahi to get back on topic.
"Can you get back to the White House, please?" Whoopi said, before retreating backstage.
"I felt someone touch me," Salahi said.
"That was Whoopi Goldberg, she don't come out unless she's passionate about something," Sherri chimed in.
The Daily Beast reports that after the show, Whoopi "burst into a room Michaele was sitting in with Tareq and screamed: 'I didn't fucking hit you! Did you say I fucking hit you?'"

10. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Rips Off: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and the rest of the franchise thereafter.
Percy Jackson is so shamelessly banking on spill-over Harry Potter success that it employs the director of the first two Potter flicks (Chris Columbus), features a “camp” for magically-powered kids called “Camp Half Blood” (“Prince” is it?), and even uses the same font for the poster art. What’s worse, these books started as equally Potter-wannabe young adult novels, so their lack of originality can be traced back to the shelves at Barnes & Noble.

Previously, Beach Boy Brian Wilson praised Katy Perry's Beach Boys homage "California Gurls," saying, "I love her vocal. ... She sounds very clear and energetic. The melody is infectious, and I'm flattered that Snoop Dogg used our lyric on the tag. I wish them well with this cut." Now Rondor Music has sent a letter to Katy Perry's label, Capitol Records, on behalf of Wilson and Mike Love — the co-writers of the Boys' "California Girls" — asking for writing credit and royalties on the Perry track. After all, infectious melodies cannot be cashed at the bank.

Moviefone is looking for fans to submit questions for an upcoming Unscripted for 'The Switch' with Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman. Unscripteds are when stars of a movie interview one another with fan questions:
'The Switch' (Aug. 20), starring 'Arrested Development' star Jason Bateman and rom-com staple Jennifer Aniston, is a romantic comedy with a twist.
Bateman plays Aniston's hapless best friend who is in love with her and switches his sperm for her donor's before she can impregnate herself. It's a comedy of errors worthy of Shakespeare, or at least, 'Three's Company.'
On Saturday, Aug. 7, stars Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston will be stopping by Moviefone for our Unscripted interview series to ask each other questions submitted by you! Ask them if they made each other laugh on set. Do they feel strange starring in a romantic comedy centered around sperm?
Ask them anything you'd like, just make sure you submit your question in the comments section [on the original Moviefone post here] before Friday, August 6, and that you include your name and location.

The first details on the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum were revealed this morning. First off, the game will be called Batman: Arkham City, and it will launch on the PS3, PC and 360 in Fall 2011.
As for the story, not many details were revealed, but we know that it takes place in a heavily armed Arkham City, where your favorite Batman villains and thugs are running rampant. Arkham City is apparently a walled-off portion of Gotham City itself, and we can expect a new cast of classic characters and villains as well as new and enhanced gameplay features.
So far, confirmed villains for the game include Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, and that ultimate Batman baddy, The Joker.
The only negative in this story is the wait time. As a huge fan of Arkham Asylum, I don't know if I'll be able to handle waiting around for more than a year, but I guess quality takes time, and the long lead-time indicates that this game is likely to be the antithesis of shovelware.
Singer/actress Hilary Duff is ready to begin her life as a married woman - she's splashed out $3.85 million on a new Hollywood home ahead of her wedding to NHL star Mike Comrie later this month.

Much has been made of Obama's birthday being a lonely event. First Lady Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha are in Spain while oldest daughter Malia is off to summer camp. But the president, who went to spend the night at his personal residence in Chicago, didn't spend his birthday alone. Instead, almost immediately after landing in Illinois, Obama went out to dinner with talk show mega-star Oprah Winfrey and her long-time friend Gayle King.
Obama, Winfrey and King dined at the popular Graham Elliot, which describes itself as the first 'bistronomic' restaurant - a term used to describe four-star, casual dining.
Winfrey famously came out in support of Obama during the 2008 election. Like Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who recently hosted the president at a Democratic party fundraiser, Winfrey has been a long-time supporter of the president.
But the visit is not all play and no work. Obama is back home to raise money for Illinois Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias and end his automaker bailout victory tour.

YOU'VE GOT NEW COMPETITION IN YOUR CATEGORY THIS YEAR WITH "UNDERCOVER BOSS" AND "JAMIE OLIVER'S FOOD REVOLUTION." AFRAID?
Griffin: I'm going to try and not get emotional, because I am personally pitted against my nemesis, ("Food Revolution" producer) Ryan Seacrest.
SO IF "REVOLUTION" WINS, ARE YOU GOING TO PULL A KANYE?
Griffin: I don't know. If you get the media too excited about something funny I might do if I lose, they actually want me to lose. But I have a photo on my iPhone that I had a friend take of me after I lost to "Intervention" last year, and let me tell you something, it ain't funny.
LET'S GET YOUR PICKS FOR THE CATEGORIES YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY WIN. BEST DRAMA SERIES?
Griffin: I'm going to purposely not pick "Mad Men" because I love to make fun of Jon Hamm. Plus, he's in a fantasy football league with my tour manager and I just think that's ridiculous. So I'm going to go with "Lost" and here's why: J.J. Abrams was my student when I was teaching at the Groundlings as one of my day jobs. And l feel like "Lost" took a lot of crap because they had good episodes and episodes that maybe weren't as good, but ultimately I thought it was a very compelling show.
WILL "MODERN FAMILY" OR "30 ROCK" BEAT "GLEE" IN THE COMEDY SERIES CATEGORY?
Griffin: I refuse to answer on the grounds that it could turn the Gay Army against me. All those shows are so gay-friendly, and you know my joke about the gays: When they turn on you, it's ugly.

TV, film and theatre stars last night demanded the Tories scrap plans to ditch the UK Film Council.
More than 50 household names including Emily Blunt, James McAvoy and Bill Nighy warned it would not just harm the economy but the "whole British film industry".
In a joint letter, they wrote that David Cameron's decision to axe the council as part of his savage costcutting drive threatened a "British success story".
They said the expertise of camera crews, lighting experts and set builders was the reason so many top Hollywood directors chose to make films here.
And they pointed out the industry made money for Britain, bringing in £5 for every £1 invested.
The letter said: "Everyone knows that times are tough. But the UKFC doesn't waste money, it makes it. Thanks to its efforts, our film industry, worth £4.5billion a year, has rarely been stronger."
The Government's plans have provoked outrage, with 42,000 people signing a Facebook petition.
Since the UKFC was established in 2000, British films have laid claim to 23% of box office takings.
It is responsible for some of the most successful UK hits including In the Loop, Bend it Like Beckham and Gosford Park. Last year it received £63.3million income from the Lottery and grant-in-aid.
Axing it would save just £3million a year.

A film prepared for the forthcoming reissue of Bruce Springsteen's beloved 1978 album 'Darkness on the Edge of Town' is slated to premiere on Sept. 14, when it will be screened as part of the Toronto International Film Festival. Thom Zimny, who prepared a similar movie for Springsteen's 2005 'Born to Run' reissue, directed the project.
Titled 'The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town,' Zimny -- who won a Grammy for the documentary 'Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run' and pulled down an Emmy for another Springsteen project, 'Live in New York City' -- is considered the Rumson, N.J.-based rock icon's personal archivist.
According to the Toronto Star, 'The Promise' includes scenes of Springsteen and his band working on radically different versions of the songs on 'Darkness' and purportedly includes at least one tune from the sessions that has never been released. Outside of announcing the TIFF screening, Springsteen's camp has little else to reveal about the planned reissue, except to say "Further details will be announced when they are finalized."
Meanwhile, TIFF's documentary programmer Thom Powers told the Star, "It's a pretty extraordinary look at the creative process of a musician. For Springsteen fans, it's like a trip to heaven. And for people who have never tapped into him before, it's still a worthwhile film."

Rosie O'Donnell is heading to the new Oprah Winfrey Network.
OWN, the joint venture between Winfrey and Discovery Communications, announced late Thursday that O'Donnell's previously announced new gabfest – originally targeted toward broadcast syndication – would bow next year on the cabler instead.
"Rosie is an undeniable talent who has captivated TV audiences for nearly 20 years," said Oprah Winfrey. "She's a true original, who brings her authentic voice, dynamic energy and pure passion to everything she does."
Show marks O'Donnell's return to TV, having last served as a moderator on ABC's "The View." It also reps O'Donnell's return to the daytime talk show race, having hosted her syndicated "The Rosie O'Donnell Show" between 1996 and 2002.
"It's an honor and a privilege to work with Oprah Winfrey on her network," said Rosie O'Donnell. "I'm excited to be back on daytime television."
O'Donnell will exec produce the show along with former Warner Bros. syndication execs Dick Robertson and Scott Carlin, now of SantaBu LLC Inc. New show, a daily one-hour strip, will be shot in New York.

It appears that not only the cast members on MTV's Jersey Shore have a problem with Angelina. She has been voted the least liked out of the cast.
When Angelina decided to pack up her things and leave the shore house in the last season of Jersey Shore, no one really cared. It’s not that fans wanted to dislike the Staten Island-native; it’s just that she made it difficult to like her.
If she wasn’t getting in the faces of her fellow housemates (especially the guys) telling them who to bring and not bring to the house, she was chasing her married boyfriend so that he could treat her the way she wanted to be treated. Perhaps her boyfriend being married was the reason why he failed to take the relationship seriously.
I'm shocked. I thought America loved Angelina.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has quite, well, the situation going on on top of his head. The muscled Jersey Shore star showed off a brand new haircut in Seaside Heights, New Jersey on August 4. Mike went for a longer, gelled top with shaved sides. Not content with that heinous look, he had to shave in symbols onto the sides! On his left you can see a shooting star and on the right what seems to be a cross. It looks like The Situation’s trying to steal Pauly D’s thunder for the craziest cut on the cast. What do you think of Mike’s look? Is it cool or so, so lame?
With co-star Teresa Giudice facing bankruptcy, Danielle urges the D.C. wives not to overspend.
“If you have it, don’t flaunt it, because it will come back to bite you,” she says. “Be humble. Be grateful for the opportunities you have. Try to teach your children that hard work is definitely something that will become lucrative to you in the end, and you do have to always remember where you came from. Even if you didn’t come from there, all of us did, and there’s people who are trying to fight their way to the top. You need to understand, reach out your hand and help them out a little bit and never feel like you’re self-indulgent or self-deserving of anything in life. If you’ve been given an opportunity, give back.”

Sierra Leone war crimes tribunal hears of dinner and diamonds as supermodel makes no secret of her reluctance to testify
Naomi Campbell testifying at the war crimes trial of former Liberian president Charles Taylor.
There were several minutes this morning, after the prosecutor had trumpeted her arrival, when it seemed entirely possible that Naomi Campbell had failed to show up for her most eagerly awaited show in years.
The hands of the clock crept forward, and the judge looked menacingly at the empty witness seat opposite. Lawyers shuffled their papers; the former Liberian president Charles Taylor realigned the array of multi-coloured ballpoint pens he had brought with him.
But, like any celebrity worth her salt, Campbell was simply biding her time.
At a little after 9am, with a lateness some might describe as fashionable, the supermodel from Streatham trotted into Tribunal Chamber II, and swore on the Bible. A vision of chic in cream cardigan and tight-fitting dress, she wore an "evil eye" pendant around her neck. True to fashion, she had no qualms about reminding the judge of her status: "I want to get this over and done with … this is a big inconvenience for me."
Ordered by the prosecution of the special court of Sierra Leone to give evidence in connection with allegations that Taylor had engaged in the illicit trade of blood diamonds, Campbell had previously made no secret of her reluctance to testify about claims that she had received such a gem from him in 1997. Even some tough questioning on Oprah Winfrey's TV sofa had gone unanswered.
But today was different. This wasn't the set of a chatshow but the drab Dutch court in which Taylor is facing 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity for his allegedly murderous activities during Sierra Leone's bloody civil war. Even for Campbell – who said she had had no idea who Taylor was when she met him 13 years ago, and told the court repeatedly that she had "never heard of" Liberia before then – this appeared to count for something.

The British model - who is the daughter of singer-turned-fashion designer Pearl Lowe and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale - is in awe of the eccentric actress because of her outrageous fashion choices, originality and nonchalant approach to criticism. She said: "I really look up to Helena Bonham Carter because she just doesn't give a toss what anyone thinks of her, and she always looks amazing because she's so bright and exciting."
Although she adores Helena's dress sense, the 21-year-old beauty struggles to define her own style and can't decide whether to dress like a boy or a dolly. She explained: "I like to be kind of rock'n'roll, but then also a bit of flower child. But then I also like to be a bit like a dolly. But then I also like to dress like a boy. a bit of a goth, and then I like to be pretty, too. So it's all of it and none of it, and everything and nothing."

Britney Spears has reportedly said that she supports Mel Gibson and believes that his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva has set him up.
The actor is currently at the centre of numerous allegations including physically abusing Grigorieva and making racist comments on audiotapes which his ex-girlfriend is thought to have secretly recorded.
Spears, who was given support by Gibson after her marriage with Kevin Federline broke down, allegedly believes that Grigorieva is only after the Braveheart star's money.
A source told the National Enquirer: "Britney feels Mel is being dragged through the mud, and she knows how that feels.
"She also sees Oksana as a user who had a baby with Mel for money and fame. She believes Oksana is playing the victim, just like her ex-husband Kevin Federline did.
"Mel was a knight in shining armour for Britney, so she'll continue reaching out to him, and she'll be there for him whenever he needs her."
To Kylie, Aphrodite is like one big throbbing heart, defined by “love, defiance and joy”. In that way, lead single ‘All The Lovers’ is a perfect introduction to the album. “It’s really difficult to choose the first single,” she muses. “But ‘All The Lovers’ is like an invitation to the album, so I think we made the right choice – it’s important to lead with a song that’s saying something.”

"California Gurls" may be intended to evoke images of the cool Pacific Ocean surf, but Katy Perry may be in a hotter kind of water over her smash hit's homage to the Beach Boys' "California Girls." The latter song's writers, Brian Wilson and Mike Love, have both gone on record as being big fans of Perry's tune. But the company that owns the copyright on behalf of Love and Wilson, Rondor Music, is more interested in compensation than flattery.
Roncor has reportedly threatened to sue if Perry doesn't hand over royalties on her single, which has sold more than 3 million digital downloads, and tied a record by reaching that figure in just 11 short weeks. If Wilson and Love do end up getting a piece of that action, needless to say, they'll be able to buy themselves and their grandchildren a lifetime supply of Hawaiian shirts.
Perry has borrowed song titles before and not gotten in trouble for it. Her breakthrough hit was "I Kissed a Girl," which bore thematic as well as titular similarity to the Jill Sobule single of the same name. If anything, Perry would have seemed to be in less danger with "California Gurls," which bears no similarity to the Beach Boys' oldie beyond the title. Well, except for the line "I wish they all could be California girls," uttered late in the song as part of a seeming improv by guest rapper Snoop Dogg. As far as Roncor Music is concerned, that one borrowed lyric crosses the line from tribute to plagiarism.

Comedian Hal Sparks -- who starred on "Queer As Folk" -- may have literally breathed life back into a complete stranger last night ... by performing CPR on a man who collapsed at LAX airport.
According to a person on scene, a man between the age of 60 and 70 toppled over in the Delta terminal at around 11 PM last night.
We're told Hal rushed to the man's aid and began performing mouth-to-mouth, while a woman performed chest compressions. Medical aid showed up shortly after and the man was taken away.
Hal Tweeted after the incident, saying, "Just did CPR for the 3rd time in my life. What a night ... When they took him away he was breathing on his own ... Hope he makes it."
Hal later added, "Everybody NEEDS to take a CPR class. Out of 200 people only 2 of us new [sic] CPR ... okay enough preaching ... I need a nap."
Trey Songz's latest track, "Bottoms Up," may be about knocking back some drinks at the bar, but the singer said the accompanying video is anything but the typical bottle-popping scene. Instead of taking inspiration solely from the song's party-startin' lyrics, Songz said that he's stepping out of the box when it comes to the track's visuals.
"'Bottoms Up,' I feel, is a very creative video. [It's] different from the norm, different than what I feel is expected of me and anything I've shot for that matter," he told MTV News on the set of the video. "[Director] Anthony [Mandler] used a lot of different shooting techniques and I think it heightens whatever it is that the song has already. The drive, the vigor, the club anthem, the energy in the record is definitely heightened with this video."
Songz broke down the concept of the upcoming "Bottoms Up" video — the first single from Passion, Pain & Pleasure — which, despite the song's club-friendly appeal, resembles a surreal circus versus a crowded bar.
"It's as if I'm walking through some kind of funhouse, filled with women and different seductive things," Songz said. The crooner added that Mandler works some visual magic to get the carnival-esque theme just right. "There's a two-way mirror that's a dope effect that he uses. And the lighting shows, and then you see women and then you don't and then you see them and then you don't."
"Bottoms Up" MC Nicki Minaj also added some dimension to the track in the form of her rapid-fire verse, and Songz said she brought the same high energy from the studio to the screen.
"Nicki Minaj does an excellent job. She comes in and does exactly what I got her on the record for. She comes in and she kills it," he gushed. "I wanted her to make the record different. I wanted her to take it to a different place and that's exactly what she did. Even in the video, she made a major contribution ... from her hair to her outfits to the way she raps and how theatrical she is in her delivery."
Kelly Osbourne has hit out at reports her mom is worried about her now she has split from Luke Worrall.
Last month Kelly called off her 16-month engagement to the model over allegations he had been unfaithful, and a rumor that Sharon Osbourne was concerned her daughter may slip back into a drug problem soon surfaced.
Denying the story, an angry Kelly wrote in her weekly column for British magazine Closer: "My mum is not worried that me splitting from Luke will send me back into addiction.
"She worries as much as any mum would after their child has struggled with drugs, but she even gave an interview recently saying I was handling things well."
Kelly also added: "One last thing: a couple of websites linked me to 'mystery men' - the only people I've been photographed with are my good friend Blake and my assistant David!"
