Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer

A baby in a crib. That same scary noise. A dog. Hanging cookware swaying in a fancy kitchen. The shadow of what looks like demon Katie from Paranormal Activity. Oh man, why did I watch this Paranormal Activity 2 trailer before going to bed? I’m now freaked out. What is going on with this sequel, other than tapping into my primal fear of children in peril? Not sure I can handle this one. Can you? Take a look (after the jump) and weigh in.

Now we know why Lindsay Lohan's 2007 DUI case may have plea bargained so quickly -- the cop who took custody of the cocaine mistook it for a breath mint and threw it in the trash.

Pretty incredible, but according to the Santa Monica Police report -- obtained by TMZ -- the officer "discovered a folded Clinique sun care card with an unknown substance caked on to the surface of the card in Lohan's right rear pocket."

The report goes on: "Some of the white substance fell to the floor. I used my foot to see what had fell but thought nothing of it. I did not recognize the substance attached to the card and initially thought the substance was a wet crushed breath mint."

And now it gets good: "I put the card into the jail trash can next to the booking windows. I was looking at the floor and began to recognize the substance as resembling powder cocaine. I then recovered the card from the trash."

The cop says the coke was in the trash for about 2 minutes. He put the card in an evidence envelope, then scooped up the coke that had fallen to the floor and placed it in a separate evidence envelope.

Lindsay ended up with a sweet deal and spent 84 minutes in jail ... for a drunken, cocaine-fueled chase on Pacific Coast Highway. Nice deal if you can get it.

WB to preview Deathly Hallows at ComicCon 2010

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A new report from The New York Times reveals that Warner Brothers is planning to preview Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at this year's Comic Con Convention in San Diego:

This year, the four-day convention, which begins on July 22, will be host to what has become an obligatory parade of filmmakers and stars hawking their next big thing with extended film clips and question-and-answer sessions in the cavernous Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center. Warner Brothers will be there with “Green Lantern,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” and a film called “Sucker Punch,” billed as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns.”

No word yet on when exactly the Deathly Hallows material will be screening, but we'll let you know! Since it is happening in Hall H (Comic Con's big event area), we suspect the Deathly Hallows portion of Warner Brothers' presentation will include clips from the film and appearances from the stars.

I wonder if what scenes they'll show.

Miranda & Karolina -- V Is for Voluptuous

Despite not wearing bikinis or lingerie, Victoria's Secret supermodels Miranda Kerr and Karolina Kurkova look as sexy as ever in V Magazine's Sexy Body Issue.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

According to the latest issue of the magazine, "beautiful bodies and shapely women are firmly back in fashion" -- with Miranda adding, "If I'm wearing something that accentuates my curves, it definitely gives me a confidence boost."

What will all those average, shapeless supermodels that were in last season do for work now?!

Vampire Academy Coming to the Big Screen

Preger Entertainment has acquired the film rights to Richelle Mead's New York Times best-selling book series "Vampire Academy" (Penguin/Razorbill Books). In its first week of publication, "Spirit Bound," the fifth book in this series, achieved a New York Times and USA Today #1 best-selling series ranking, while simultaneously debuting as the #1 best-seller in Australia and New Zealand.

The "Vampire Academy" book series is a coming-of-age, action driven, "paranormal romance" fantasy. It is set in the present day against a hidden universe of vampires, half-humans, alchemy, and magic. The series centers on a strong, yet flawed, 17-year-old female who confronts her world with grit, determination, and lots of moxie. Rose Hathaway is a dhampir, half human/half vampire and guardian of the Moroi, a race of peaceful and magical mortal vampires who can walk in the daylight, survive by feeding off willing blood donors, grow old and die. Hidden deep in the forests of Montana is St. Vladimir's Academy, where Moroi and dhampirs learn to take their place in Moroi society. Rose must master her inherited abilities as a dhampir and earn the approval of the Royal Council, as guardian to Princess Lissa, her best friend and sole heir of one of the twelve Royal families of Moroi. Rose and Lissa share a mysterious psychic bond and sense of destiny, but first they must survive an intense social scene, politics and the physical challenges of Moroi life at the Academy. Outside the sanctuary of St. Vladimir's waits their greatest threat of all, the Strigoi, a race of bloodthirsty immortal vampires and predators of the Moroi.

A shorter summary from wiki: It tells the story of Rosemarie (Rose) Hathaway, a seventeen year old Dhampir girl, who is training to be a body guard for her Moroi best friend, Vasilisa (Lissa) Dragomir. In the process of learning how to defeat Strigoi (the undead and evil vampires) in St. Vladimir's Academy, Rose finds herself caught in a forbidden romance with her handsome instructor, Dimitri Belikov, while having an unbreakable bond with Lissa.

"This spontaneous viral event has exploded all across the internet," comments Preger. "Finding an epic story like this for adaptation is one thing, but to then discover this mass market audience, that's growing exponentially, who are eagerly awaiting --- even demanding --- a film be produced, is something very compelling."

You can check out the book series' official website for more info.

American Idol's final nail in the coffin.

Bret Michaels continues his campaign for 'American Idol' judge.

Bret Michaels really wants to inherit the Simon Cowell Memorial V-Neck. In a new interview with Parade.com, the Poison frontman and reality show favorite followed up on comments he made last month about the possibility of joining the American Idol judges’ table: “We have a meeting in L.A. in a couple weeks and we’re going to sit down and talk. They did a poll and I think it was Madonna, P. Diddy, Howard Stern, and myself, and I took 50 percent or 60 percent of the vote and that’s tremendous. I would love to be a judge on American Idol. I think I would bring a lot to the table.”

Hrmm. First things first, reps for Fox, Idol, and FremantleMedia North America all declined to comment on Michaels’ comments. But before we interpret their silence as particularly meaningful, let’s keep a couple things in mind. I’m pretty certain the poll Michaels is referring to wasn’t an internal Idol survey, but rather a question posed to readers of PopEater.com (in which Michaels scored 50 percent of votes, with Stern the next closest at 19 percent). And while we’re referencing poll numbers, back in early June, a whopping 54.6 percent of EW.com readers said they’d prefer to see Michaels in the role of Hair Metal Week mentor than as a Simon Cowell replacement (36.6 percent). (The other 8.8 percent of you said he shouldn’t get involved with the show at all.)

Also worth noting, the “Idol judge” chatter surrounding Bret Michaels has mostly been started by…Bret Michaels himself, like when he said during a concert shortly after Idol‘s season 9 finale that he “could possibly be a judge” for the show’s tenth season in January 2011. I mean, I’m not gonna blame the guy for campaigning to get a gig on a show that regularly scores upwards of 20 million viewers, but I’m just saying that much as you’d do with your French fries, take Michaels’ remarks with more than a couple grains of salt.

And finally, look at the photo above: Do you really want your American Idol judging panel to look like that? Doesn’t that group need (or at least deserve) a stronger and, dare I say, bitchier anchor? The only way I could accept Bret Michaels on the Idol panel is if the producers used him to replace both Randy and Ellen, and then added a third credible voice to sit alongside him and Kara DioGuardi. What about you?

what's that coming over the horizon?! It's...

Wonder Woman's new look.

Wonder Woman has changed her looks and dons a trendy new outfit in issue 600 of the comic book series.

The super hero's star-spangled swimsuit is to be replaced by a radical new style that includes leggings.

The visual make over goes hand in hand with changes to the Wonder Woman story, publisher DC Comics says.

DC Comics has hired a new writer, J. Michael Straczynski, to give Wonder Woman's life a new direction.

Mr Straczynski told the New York Times that it had been time to bring the iconic character into the 21st Century.

"She's been locked into pretty much the exact same outfit since her debut in 1941", Mr Straczynski said. "What woman only wears only one outfit for 60-plus years?"

He said the redesign of Wonder Woman's outfit had been his priority when he took on the job.

"I wanted to toughen her up and give her a modern sensibility", Mr Straczynski said.

Laurie Anderson Doesn't Have Any Answers
Her fantastic, deceptively cynical new record, Homeland, asks the questions anyway

"You know the reason I really love the stars?" asks Laurie Anderson, in the electronically treated, increasingly resigned baritone alter-ego voice she's taken to calling Fenway Bergamot. "Because we cannot hurt them." It's an extraordinary moment (within the nearly-12-minute, hilariously dour "Another Day in America") on an extraordinary album: Homeland, the iconic New Yorker's first new record in nearly a decade, is a tough, engrossing swirl of avant-garde electro-pop and sociopolitically exasperated spoken word, tracing the greed and desolation and gnawing confusion of this brave new American era. "Only an Expert," in particular, is a shockingly propulsive putative dance-floor smash, excoriating the so-called problem-solvers who have driven us to ruin via the War on Terror, the financial crisis, global warming, and on and on. She'll add verses as necessary; the BP oil spill is a likely candidate.

Back from a long stint in Australia curating a festival with husband (and, in a first for the couple, Homeland co-producer) Lou Reed, Anderson chatted about her volatile optimism, her alleged predictive powers, her favorite rapper, and that concert she recently played for dogs. Here are some excerpts.

'Airbender' loses something in switch from cartoon to live action

“The Last Airbender’’ has had more bad karma than almost any movie deserves. Adapted from a popular Nickelodeon cartoon series called “Avatar: The Last Airbender,’’ the movie saw the first half of its title bigfooted by a certain James Cameron production late last year. The core fan base has been up in arms over the casting of white actors to play characters that on the show are anime-Asian (i.e., round-eyed but clearly based on Japanese drawing styles and other cultural markers).

Writer-director M. Night Shyamalan has been in the doghouse since his last few films (“Lady in the Water,’’ “The Happening’’) were roundly mocked; this is his first project-for-hire. And — the final indignity — “Airbender’’ has been put through the same postproduction 3-D rinse cycle that resulted in the cheapjack eyesore that was “Clash of the Titans.’’ The process is to genuine 3-D — the kind you see in “Toy Story 3’’ or “How to Train Your Dragon’’ — what colorization is to color: A ghoulish simulation.

It would be heartening to report that Shyamalan has wrangled a good movie out of this litany of disaster, but no such luck. “The Last Airbender’’ is dreadful, an incomprehensible fantasy-action epic that makes the 2007 film “The Golden Compass,’’ a similarly botched adaptation of a beloved property from another medium, look like a four-star classic. Like “Compass,’’ “Airbender’’ ends with a cliffhanger, but don’t hold your breath waiting for Chapter Two.

Olbermann, who worked at CNN during the 1980s and was a regular contributor to the network before launching "Countdown" on MSNBC in 2003, says that King tried to get CNN bosses to hire Olbermann as his lead-in.

"Larry King is a lovely, generous man who tried, for 8 years, to convince his bosses to hire me to be his 8 PM lead-in at CNN," Olbermann tweeted. "Oh CRAP. This means mine will be the longest running primetime cable news show not on Fox. CRAP CRAP CRAP," he added.

Landon Donovan -- who is currently battling rumors that he fathered a child out of wedlock -- says his wife Bianca Kajlich (with whom he is currently separated) will always be in his life.

That's why he blew her a kiss after scoring the game-winning goal during the June 23 World Cup match against Algeria.

"I've known Bianca for eight years. We have been and will always be best of friends," he said on CBS' The Early Show Wednesday. "And my personal life, people who know me close know how much she's meant to this whole process. I wouldn't be where I was on that day without her and I wanted to share that moment with her, which was really special."

Donovan is separated from his actress wife, Bianca Kajlich, but is believed to be hoping for reconciliation with her, The New York Post reports.

kanye enlists nicki minaj for new album

Nicki Minaj’s stock keeps rising. After appearing on records for Mariah Carey, Usher, Robin Thicke, Sean Kingston, and Christina Aguilera, Kanye West has called on hip-hop’s heroine for his new album.

BET’s Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill was one of the lucky few invited to hear Mr. West’s eagerly-anticipated new project. “He’s got a track with Nicki Minaj that’s so dope,” he exclusively revealed to Rap-Up.com. “You won’t believe it when you hear it.”

The executive has heard four cuts from the album, tentatively titled Good Ass Job. “He comes back unapologetic and his performance [at the BET Awards] was stellar, absolutely stellar,” he said.

Hill described the direction as more reminiscent of the rapper’s first three albums. “It’s less like 808s & Heartbreak and more like Graduation.”

Kanye returned to the spotlight at last weekend’s BET Awards, where he opened the show with “Power” while wearing $300,000 in jewelry.

'Eclipse' Gets Widest Domestic Release In Hollywood History

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Opening in 4,416 theaters, the latest 'Twilight' film breaks record held by 'Iron Man 2.' Fans of "The Twilight Saga" are used to watching dreamy vampire Edward Cullen face down routinely shirtless werewolf Jacob Black over the heart of the beautiful Bella Swan — but it seems that Edward and Jacob have put aside their differences to team up against a new, unexpected opponent: Tony Stark.

Deadline Hollywood reports that "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" has already earned its first record without even officially landing in theaters. According to the report, "Eclipse" is currently slated to open in 4,416 theaters across North America, making it the single widest domestic release in Hollywood history. That same record was most recently held by Marvel Studios and Paramount's "Iron Man 2," which initially unspooled in 4,380 locations. Before that, "The Dark Knight" held the record in 2008 with 4,366 theaters.

There is currently no official count of how many locations plan to launch "Eclipse" with midnight showings on Wednesday (June 30).

Having already sunk its fangs into one record, the David Slade-directed "Eclipse" is well poised to cement its status in Hollywood history as it launches into theaters this week. In November, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" enjoyed a massive $140 million opening weekend, more than doubling the initial numbers for the first "Twilight" film. With the summer season in full session, there's no telling how much damage "Eclipse" could do at the box office.

In other words, pretty much every young girl's dream scenario. TIME's Belinda Luscombe caught an early screening of the movie and walked away thoroughly freaked out.

MTV has released the official trailer for the upcoming Miami-set season of Jersey Shore. We're about to bear witness to the atrocities that were committed in our city by the only people in the world who actually make our natives seem pale in comparison. In true guido style, it contains almost as many drunken cat fights (two) as obnoxious references to "I'm in Miami Bitch" (four). And that all happens in barely two minutes.

Snooki and Angelina battle over boring Vinnie, while Sammi and JWoww go head to head for the affection of only slightly less-boring Ronnie. None of them seems to realize these dudes are both pretty boring and horrible. Meanwhile, Mike "the Situation" comes to the horrible realization that there are actually ugly girls in Miami Beach. No! The Miami Beach mythos of all-hot-girls-all-the-time is about to be shredded to pieces in front of a national audience.

The real magic comes when Snooki is riding some sort of weird dog statue on the patio of the gelato place where they worked, and says, "It hurts my vagina," quickly followed by, "No, I like it."

The season premieres July 29, so mark it on your calendar to make sure you can pretend you're too busy to watch it while secretly recording it.

Starz cancels 'Gravity' and 'Party Down'...but more importantly 'Party Down'

This just in: Starz has pulled the plug on Party Down and Gravity.

The network’s executive vice president of programming, Stephan Shelanski, issued the following statement confirming the news: “After careful consideration, we’ve decided not to continue on with subsequent seasons of Party Down and Gravity. We’re grateful to everyone involved in the shows, and are proud to have had them on the channel. Starz remains committed to aggressively expanding our original programming lineup.”
In its two seasons on the air, Party Down became a cult hit and a critical darling. But its ratings were terrible. And losing Adam Scott to Parks and Recreation (and Jane Lynch to Glee before him) certainly didn’t boost show’s future prospects. Still, its death is a huge bummer.
The same can’t be said for Gravity, which I’m pretty sure no one watched or liked. So let’s agree to use the comments section to mourn Party Down and only Party Down. K?

Microsoft Kills the Kin

It seems Microsoft is killing its Kin "social phones" after less than two months on the market.

First reported by Gizmodo, the news comes after several weeks of suspicious reports on abysmal Kin sales and just three days after Verizon slashed Kin prices nearly in half. Microsoft, which launched the Kin One and Kin Two in May, did not confirm the discontinuation but sent seattlepi.com the following statement.

We have made the decision to focus on our Windows Phone 7 launch and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.

The phones, targeted at "generation upload," were the result of months of product development that generated some unusual buzz among tech enthusiasts. Known for some time as "Project Pink," the Kin program was largely seen as Microsoft's first attempt at reinvigorating the Sidekick technology the company inherited when it acquired Danger in 2008.

Microsoft unveiled the two Kin devices -- the first phones to feature bits of Windows Phone 7 -- in April and released them with Verizon in May. The software superpower marketed them at teens to 25-year-olds whose lives revolve around Facebook, Twitter, instant messaging and other social media. Redmond launched a daring new-media campaign that included social-media scavenger hunts and a series of videos that followed a young woman as she explored the fringes of her social network.

It all seemed like overkill. And most of the tech press wasn't exposed to the niche marketing enough to sense whether it was working.

"The thing about niche marketing is, if you don't hit your niche," IDC mobile analyst William Stofega said, "you're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place."

So when Downey learned that he would once again be playing Stark in Iron Man 2, the challenge was on.

Five Standout "Larry King Live" Moments

Roger Ebert on 'The Last Airbender.'

This is about as bright as "The Last Airbender" gets.

The Last Airbender

BY ROGER EBERT / June 30, 2010

"The Last Airbender" is an agonizing experience in every category I can think of and others still waiting to be invented. The laws of chance suggest that something should have gone right. Not here. It puts a nail in the coffin of low-rent 3D, but it will need a lot more coffins than that.

Let's start with the 3D, which was added as an afterthought to a 2D movie. Not only is it unexploited and unnecessary, but it's a disaster even if you like 3D. M. Night Shyamalan's retrofit produces the drabbest, darkest, dingiest movie of any sort I've seen in years. You know something is wrong when the screen is filled with flames that have the vibrancy of faded Polaroids. It's a known fact that 3D causes a measurable decrease in perceived brightness, but "Airbender" looks like it was filmed with a dirty sheet over the lens.

Now for the movie itself. The first fatal decision was to make a live-action film out of material that was born to be anime. The animation of the Nickelodeon TV series drew on the bright colors and "clear line" style of such masters as Miyazaki, and was a pleasure to observe. It's in the very nature of animation to make absurd visual sights more plausible.

Since "Airbender" involves the human manipulation of the forces of air, earth, water and fire, there is hardly an event that can be rendered plausibly in live action. That said, its special effects are atrocious. The first time the waterbender Katara summons a globe of water, which then splashes (offscreen) on her brother Sokka, he doesn't even get wet. Firebenders' flames don't seem to really burn, and so on.

Queen Cheryl for DWTS?

Cheryl Cole is reportedly being lined-up to join US TV show, Dancing With The Stars.

Rumours suggest that producers of the hit ABC talent show want the Girls Aloud beauty to partner her supposed new boyfriend, Derek Hough on season 12 of the show next year. Chezza, who is celebrating her 27th birthday today would not be able to participate in this year's competition due to her stint as a judge on the X Factor.

A source told The Mirror: "Her US team think it will be a great move for her and increase her profile stateside. Partnering her with Derek too would be a masterstroke and they want her to give it serious thought."

They added: "Derek danced with Cheryl on her recent tour and enjoyed a sultry ballroom dance in her Parachute video so the chemistry is certainly right."

Derek is currently the reigning champ of the show, winning season 10 with celebrity partner Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger.

Britney's new album is 'hard-hitting'

Producer Danja has confirmed he is working on Britney Spears's forthcoming album.

The singer has been working on the follow-up to her 2008 LP Circus since wrapping up her world tour last year.

Rap Up reports producer Danja, who produced the majority of Spears's 2007 album Blackout, has confirmed he is working with Spears on "hard-hitting" material for the record.

Danja said: "We are getting things together. I've actually been doing tracks that I love, and I can't wait to go into full production mode, but we're in pre-production more than anything.

"I'm definitely gonna do my part and try to make it hard-hitting, up tempo, high energy. That's what I think we need and that's what I'm gonna shoot for."

On working with Spears, he said: "It’s so easy and fun. It’s one of the easiest - probably the easiest sessions I’ve had in my career, so I’m looking forward to getting back in."

Other producers linked to the album so far have been DJ Tiesto and dubstep knob-twiddler Rusko.

everything sounds so good so far!!! i love danja + britney and i'm really excited to hear rusko. hopefully bloodshy & avant aren't too busy with miike snow so they can produce.

By Susan Wloszczyna, USA TODAY

After slithering her slinky self through countless music videos, pop siren Christina Aguilera will sizzle on movie screens for the first time this fall in the song-filled fantasy Burlesque.

"It's sexy, it's sensual," she promises. "The whole idea of burlesque has always intrigued me. The art of the tease, the dance, beautiful women — need I say more?"

Her Ali might be a showbiz staple as old as greasepaint: a plucky gal from Iowa who runs off to the big city to follow her dreams and lands a job at a struggling nightclub.

Angry 'Twilight' Fans Rip Chicago Ridge Theater After Projector Fail

Die-hard "Twilight" fans began lining up at area theaters hours before midnight screenings of "Eclipse" on Tuesday, including a group of fans in southwest suburban Chicago Ridge--who were about to have their dreams shattered.

NBC Chicago reports that fans began lining up at the Chicago Ridge AMC movie theater around 9 p.m. to see the third installment of the "Twilight" series. When they entered the theater, they watched the previews, but when the movie started, there was no sound:

"We're watching the previews waiting for the movie and out of nowhere the sound just stopped," said teen fan Soraida Botello.

The movie goers started booing and yelling for management, who informed them they were having technical difficulties and would try to fix the problem. Meanwhile, the movie kept playing with no sound.

Finally, when management conceded defeat they asked everyone to leave.

The theater agreed to refund their money--but for the angry mob of teen vampire fans, it was not enough.

Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson together again in something that isn't Harry Potter

Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman will play former lovers in a BBC Two adaptation of Christopher Reid poem The Song Of Lunch.

The pair previously played an unhappily married couple in the 2003 movie Love Actually and have also appeared together in Harry Potter films.

Reid's poetry collection, A Scattering, won the Costa Book of the Year in 2009.

The TV adaptation, described as a blend of drama and poetry, will be aired on National Poetry Day on 7 October.

Rickman plays a disillusioned editor who has lunch with his former mistress at the Soho restaurant where they used to meet.

BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow said Reid's poetry would be brought to life "with a truly ambitious project and a stellar cast".

"We hope that audiences will enjoy this dramatisation of Christopher Reid's touching and witty poem and maybe feel inspired to indulge in a little more poetry themselves," she added.

So excited for them to work together again. It's been too long since Love Actually.

Shyamalan OK with Airbender critics 'up my ass all the time'

OK, here it is, the final word, for now anyway, on the casting controversy and racism accusations surrounding M. Night Shyamalan and his upcoming film The Last Airbender.

"It's a compliment when everybody is up my ass all the time, it really is," Shyamalan told a small group of reporters, including one from SCI FI Wire, during an interview yesterday in New York. "You've got to look at it as, if they dismissed you, they weren't paying any attention to you. They're trying to dissect you to show you why you're not that great, which is wonderful thing for them to try to do for my entire life. My job is to just keep making movies. It'll go away, or I'll prove them right or wrong, right? So time will tell. I'm fine with that. Your critics are ... you want your hard teachers to tell you, 'You're no good, you're no good because of this and this,' even if they secretly believe the opposite. It's good to be tough on yourself."

Shyamalan, moments earlier, had gone into tremendous detail about his casting choices, reiterating points that he made in a story that ran earlier on SCI FI Wire. He did so frankly, but without any of the anger or frustration that characterized that earlier conversation.

He argued that the subject matter borrows from all cultures, including Indian, Thai, Japanese, etc., and insisted that it's a "small group" of about "5,000 to 7,000 people" that are "very, very vocal" about the fact that he "didn't cast the correct Asians in it."

Animal Planet’s ‘Confessions: Animal Hoarding’ Premieres July 21

CONFESSIONS: ANIMAL HOARDING is a new docu-reality series that takes an unflinching, honest look at animal hoarding, the people and pets affected, and the challenges of confronting this psychological condition. Animal hoarding is defined as the compulsive need to possess and control animals and often involves the acquisition of a high and unmanageable number of animals.

Not yet formally recognized as a distinct psychological disorder, Animal hoarding in most cases goes unaddressed until it becomes a crime…until now. Each episode delves into the hearts and minds of individuals who hoard a variety of species (cats, dogs, birds, farm animals, fish, etc.); the series also provides an opportunity for family members and friends to help their loved ones and prevent them from spinning further out of control. Having no previous established protocol, the series coordinates task-force interventions by psychologists, animal welfare experts, veterinarians, friends and families to help individuals recognize the root of their issues and take healthy steps to address their animal hoarding.

Lindsay Lohan can add thief to her resume

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lindsay Lohan concocted a diabolical, fraudulent plan to defraud an L.A. boutique out of thousands of dollars ... according to a lawsuit that will be filed today.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the suit, in which Church -- a boutique that sells expensive clothes, jewelry, and accessories -- claims Lindsay shopped at the store between November, 2009 and February, 2010.

According to the suit, Lindsay racked up a bill of $17,060.83 and convinced the owners her business manager would pay the bill. But much to the chagrin of the owners, Lindsay's business manager paid a grand total of $180.

The suit, which will be filed in L.A. County Superior Court, alleges Lindsay "had no intention of causing her business manager to pay the entire balance."

And there's this -- the suit claims the boutique owners relied on Lindsay's "well known status as a movie actress with substantial income." Wrong on both counts.

The owners say Lindsay committed premeditated fraud and are seeking the balance -- $16,880.63 -- plus interest and punitive damages.

Yes, we see the 20 cent differential -- but that's the way it appears in the lawsuit. Apparently, the shop is giving LiLo a credit.

No comment from Lindsay's camp.

Could 'Easy A' Be the NEW Mean Girls?

mean girls Pictures, Images and Photos

Remember back in 2004 when you couldn’t go anywhere without someone quoting a line from Mean Girls? Brace yourselves for a similar situation, because Easy A will be making its debut on September 17th. The film stars Emma Stone as a student who fakes losing her virginity to her gay friend, and it’s been described as an “edgier Mean Girls” with tons of memorable lines.

The movie also marks the final performance of actress Amanda Bynes, who recently announced her early retirement on Twitter. And it stars a bunch of hot dudes like Penn Badgley and Cam Gigandet. In other words, you can bet on your father’s Toaster Strudel that I’ll be seeing this shit.

Feds take down Ninjavideo.net, TVShack.net and more

Adding some swashbuckling to its tough talk on fighting piracy, the federal government Wednesday seized several websites that were offering downloads of pirated movies such as "Toy Story 3" and "Iron Man 2" within hours of their release in theaters.

Federal authorities announced that they had seized domain names from nine websites engaged in the "criminal theft of American movies and television." The websites include TVShack.net, PlanetMoviez.com and ThePirateCity.org and Ninjavideo.net. The sites combined drew 6.7 million visitors a month, authorities said.

Officials also seized assets from 15 bank, investment and advertising accounts and executed residential search warrants in North Carolina, New York, New Jersey and Washington, according to a statement from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which coordinated its investigation with the Southern District of New York, the Department of Homeland Security and various other agencies.

The crackdown, which involved 100 agents working in 11 states and the Netherlands, is part of a renewed campaign dubbed "Operation in Our Sites" by the feds to curb Internet counterfeiting and piracy. The announcement comes a week after the Obama administration unveiled a detailed plan on how to tackle global piracy, including targeting illegal websites.

ICE Assistant Secretary John Morton, speaking at a Walt Disney Studios soundstage where he was joined by movie studio executives and union representatives, trumpeted the bust as the beginning of a "long-term effort to turn the tables on these thieves." The targeted websites, he added, are "run by people who have no respect for creativity and innovation."

Preet Bharara, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement that the actions were necessary to protect the jobs and livelihoods of "ordinary working people" and warned others involved in similar websites. The studios claim that they lose hundreds of millions of dollars annually to pirated content.
"If your business model is piracy, your story will not have a happy ending," Bharara said.

Aishwarya Rai and husband Abhishek on July's Vogue India

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan on the cover of Vogue India

Interview excerpt

Vogue: At what point in your relationship did you think you could marry this man?
Ash: You know, it’s weird, but the moment we got together, it was a sense of coming home. Like I would have been surprised if we didn’t.

Vogue: Every marriage involves some amount of compromise. What is your take on that?
Abhishek: I don’t look upon any of it as compromise. The fact that she is in my life and I am married to her is of more importance and happiness to me than anything that I could possibly compromise on.
Ash: I think marriage takes for adjustment, not compromise, and it means doing all that you need to do to commit to your relationship. If there is anything that makes you feel like it’s a compromise, that means there is an area of discomfort, and that means there’s already something unsettling. But why talk of marriage and compromise? Life asks for adjustments and you do that. You are like water—you find your fit. You look upon life like that, why necessarily compartmentalise marriage?

Senator grills Supreme Court nominee on Twilight; United States wonders why the world still hates us

Kagan asked 'Twilight' preference: Edward or Jacob?

Early on in the third day of Elena Kagan's confirmation hearings, she ducked a particularly relevant question from Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), tied to the week's news.

"I keep wanting to ask you about the famous camp of Edward vs. Jacob or the vampire vs. the werewolf," Klobuchar said. "I wish you wouldn't," Kagan responded.

NPR's "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me" this past weekend suggested that Kagan is on Team Jacob. But of course, Jews have a long and occasionally ugly history with vampires.

Bachelor Jake Pavelka Has 'Gay Tendencies': Contestants

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Former 'Bachelor' Jake gave ex-fiancee Vienna a variety of reasons for refusing to have sex with her, from his diet to wanting to wait until marriage. Now contestants on the show say Jake might prefer men.

"I think he has gay potential and definitely gay tendencies," a bachelorette from Season 12 tells Radaronline.com.

Paul Rosseau, who appeared on Season 4 of 'The Bachelorette,' agrees.

"I definitely think he has gay tendencies, not only because of the way he dresses but also because he didn't want to have sex with a beautiful girl and never really tried with the other girls on the show," he told Radar. "Nothing personal, Jake!"

Richard Mathey from the same season said, "I'm not sure if he is gay, but it seems he just has no experience with those types of women that are on the show."

Friends of Vienna and Jake's have conflicting theories about Jake's sexuality.

"Vienna told me, 'I don't think Jake is into girls,'" a friend of Vienna's told Radar.

8-Bit Twilight Eclipse Game Much More Entertaining Than The Movie

The third Twilight film, Eclipse, opens tomorrow, but you can save yourself two hours and $10 by checking out the more satisfying 8-Bit Twilight Eclipse Interactive YouTube game instead.

Created by Benny and Rafi Fine with animation by Doc Octoroc, the 8-Bit Twilight Eclipse Interactive YouTube game uses a series of clips and YouTube annotations to guide you through the story of Bella, Edward, and Jacob's ultimate showdown with that evil red-haired girl from the first movie, now played by Ron Howard's daughter.

Not that I've been paying attention.

It's an entertaining romp that pokes fun at some of the more hilarious aspects of the Twilight Saga, including...well, just about everything.

I'd love to see this turned into a real 8-bit game. My only complaint is that every vote for Team Jacob ends with a game over screen. Not fair!

John Lennon Catalog Gets Sonic Upgrade

Yoko Ono honors Lennon's 70th birthday with reissues of eight solo albums, including stripped back version of 'Double Fantasy'

By Daniel Kreps
Jun 29, 2010 3:33 PM EDT

To mark what would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday this October, Yoko Ono and EMI will reissue eight of Lennon's solo records, plus a greatest hits collection and a four-disc anthology titled Gimme Some Truth. The reissues and compilations, each digitally remastered from the original mixes, will hit stores on October 5th (four days before Lennon's 70th birthday) and will also be available for download through all major digital retailers.

Unique to the Lennon reissues is a new "stripped down" mix of his final album Double Fantasy. Like the Beatles Let It Be…Naked, Double Fantasy Stripped cuts down on the instrumental embellishments of the production to give the music a more raw and intimate feel. "[It] really allows us to focus our attention on John’s amazing vocals," Ono said in a statement. "Technology has advanced so much that, conversely, I wanted to use new techniques to really frame these amazing songs and John's voice as simply as possible. It was whilst working on the new version of this album that I was hit hardest emotionally, as this was the last album John released before his passing." Ono collaborated with original co-producer Jack Douglas on the new version of Double Fantasy.

In addition to the reissue of the eight albums — John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, Imagine, Some Time In New York City, Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, Rock 'n' Roll, Double Fantasy Stripped Down/Double Fantasy and the posthumous release Milk and Honey — an 11-disc collection called John Lennon Signature Box will feature all of the solo albums plus an EP of Lennon's non-album singles and a bonus disc of rare and previously unreleased recordings. The set will come with a collectible limited edition art print and a hardbound book with rare photos, poetry, artwork and new liner notes, which were written by Rolling Stone contributing editor Anthony DeCurtis. Like the recent Beatles' reissues, each album will be housed in a digi-sleeve that mirrors its original packaging.

Wow... 30 years since he died. I'd agree it's about time for some reissues!

Don't cha wish all the judges were hot like me?

X FACTOR wannabes will be judged by a real PUSSYCAT - after Nicole Scherzinger signed up for the panel.

The Pussycat Doll singer has been unveiled as the final stand-in for pregnant judge Dannii Minogue when the auditions hit Manchester.

It could prove to be fireworks as her co-judge Cheryl Cole famously slagged off the American, 32, in an interview four years ago.

She laid into the Pussycat Dolls - famous for the hit Don't Cha - suggesting some of them couldn't sing. And Cheryl rapped Nicole, saying: "I don't think she stands out at all." She added that Nicole - girlfriend of F1 race ace Lewis Hamilton - was nowhere near as good as chart-toppers Beyonce or Christina Aguilera.

An X Factor source said: "We like to mix it up a bit on the panel as it can create some tension. Hopefully there won't be any scratching or hair pulling by Cheryl and Nicole."

The pair also have hunky dancer Derek Hough in common. Cheryl just had a holiday with him and Nicole won the US version of Strictly Come Dancing with Derek.

Who Should Replace Steve Carell on The Office?

Steve Carell addressed rumors this week by confirming them: he will be leaving The Office after the coming season. The stakes are high for NBC, which really didn't need the hassle.

The Office, while showing some signs of age, is still the one show in the peacock's Thursday comedy lineup that's truly caught on with audiences, so cancelling it is not a realistic option. Carell will be replaced.

The ideal substitute for Michael Scott will be someone who is distinct from Carell, but shares his key comedic attribute: a person who looks like the type who often finds himself running things in his mid-40s, but doesn't really have the personality that generates respect or fear. Who are the actors out there who might be able to fill this key role?

Nicki Minaj gets her first #1

Leading 2010 BET Award winner Nicki Minaj continues to have a stellar week thanks to "Your Love," her first single to top the rap charts.

Fresh of claiming three BET Awards, including Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist and Best Group (with Young Money), Minaj's "Your Love" rose 4-1 on the Billboard Rap Songs chart Wednesday.

A major feat not just for Minaj, whose initial solo single "Massive Attack" failed to reach the top 10 earlier this year, "Your Love" is the first single from a female rapper to top the Rap Songs chart in seven years !

According to Billboard, the last single to do so was "Magic Stick," ironically a collaborative effort featuring Lil Kim. That song, topped the Rap Songs chart for five weeks beginning June 14, 2003.

In recent weeks, words have been exchanged between Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim revolving around respect and paying homage.

Referencing the conflict during an acceptance speech at the 2010 BET Awards, Minaj took the high road telling viewers "I just think it’s so important right now for positive energy among women because I’m fighting for women. This is not for me, this is for all of us, so thank you to all the female rappers who paved the way for me."

Not just following Lil Kim's "Magic Stick,' Minaj's "Your Love" is the first single from a solo female rapper (not a feature or collaborative effort) to claim the top spot since Missy Elliott's "Work It," which claimed no.1 in November of 2002.

In related news, Nicki Minaj is said to be working on her solo debut after several top collaborations with Usher, Ludacris, Mariah Carey, Young Money, Lil Wayne, Drake, Sean Garrett, and Christina Aguilera.

The 6-Figure Price Tag on Kanye West’s BET Awards Jewelry

Kanye West made a big impression when he opened the BET Awards by performing “Power” atop a volcano. But Kanye’s presence wasn’t the only big thing on stage. The rapper’s enormous jewelry also caught the eye of viewers.

Jacob & Co. created a custom-made link chain and charm depicting Egyptian god Horus, as well as a four-finger pyramid ring, for Mr. West’s comeback performance. Both are made of 24k yellow gold.

According to Kanye’s blog, Horus is one of the oldest and most significant deities in the ancient Egyptian religion. Horus served many functions in the Egyptian pantheon, most notably being god of the sky, god of war, and god of protection.
