The Greatest Summer Jams Of The Modern Era

Just in time for the warm weather, we compile the best sun-drenched tunes since 1991, in Bigger Than the Sound.

Think back to every awesome/romantic/borderline-insane thing you've ever done during the summer. Chances are, there was music playing when you did it. And it was probably playing very, very loudly.

That's because, perhaps more than any other time of the year, summer is practically made for music. It's when we pump up, strip down, make terrible decisions and basically have the times of our lives. And, somewhat fittingly, music is always there with us. It's the soundtrack to our every hookup, breakdown and tanning mishap. It's what's in the air at the beach, the time-share or the club (well, either that or Axe body spray). It's part of our memories, along with that terrible tattoo you got down in Panama City.

So for a song to become a summer jam, it's got to be great (and slightly stupid, but that's a column for another day). And since the official kickoff of summer 2010 is right around the corner, I've decided to compile a list of the greatest of the great — the best, brightest, dumbest, funnest, lightest, loosest, freakiest, goofiest summer songs of all time. All of them are special, all of them are classics. And yes, I spent waaay too much time working on this. What can I say? I freaking love the summer.

Anyway, rather than just prattle on, I reached out to some of my favorite writers — all of whom are certified summer-jam experts, btw — and had them contribute their favorites too. The only thing I told them was that the cutoff point was 1991 (that's when Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince released their epochal "Summertime," after all), and then I sat back and watched the brilliance flood my inbox. Here's what they submitted, along with my picks. It's a definitive list, as submitted by some of the best in the business. These are the Greatest Summer Jams of the Modern Era.

my personal favorite..

In every profession, people from all walks of life take vastly different paths before arriving at their final destination. It would come as no surprise to movie fans that some of the biggest names in film worked their way up the ranks to land that first leading role or that first inclusion on a Hollywood A-list.

However, some of today's biggest stars started their silver screen careers big and never looked back. Whether it was landing a role with a prominent director, a standout performance that would become legendary, or the rare "first role, first Oscar" achievement, we wanted to recognize a few of the actors who manifested greatness and leading talent from their very first step on a Hollywood sound stage and remain active forces on screen to this day.

Looking for a little motivation to jump into your next step in life? Check out our list of ten actors that started off right and pressed on to become some of Hollywood's biggest names!

Do you ever lay awake in bed wondering, "Hey, what happened to Pauly Shore?" I have the answer.

Pauly Shore's new 'Adopted' DVD cover makes us a little skittish*

*And not just because he wrote and directed the movie, which a press release describes as “politically incorrect and hysterically funny, in the style of Waiting for Guffman and Borat.”

Any other adjectives to describe how you feel when faced with the image of Shore’s character clutching two sobbing African orphans? And anybody planning to buy/rent this puppy when it hits bargain bins everywhere store shelves on June 15?

First Look: Showtime's Historical Drama 'The Borgias'

The first look into Showtime's "The Borgias" is shared through a behind-the-scene footage. A new series coming from the director of "Interview with the Vampire", Neil Jordan, "Borgias" is a historical drama which is Showtime's resort to replace "The Tudors".

The show will be a complex, unvarnished portrait of one of history's most intriguing and infamous dynastic families. The series begins as the family's patriarch Rodrigo, becomes Pope, propelling him, his two Machiavellian sons Cesare and Juan, and his scandalously beautiful daughter, Lucrezia, to become the most powerful and influential family of the Italian Renaissance.

And all that power and influence eventually leads to their demise. As Machiavelli once said about his friends, the Borgias, "Politics have no relation to morals." Award-winning actor Jeremy Irons leads as Rodrigo, supported by Francois Arnaud, Derek Jacobi and Colm Feore.

Showtime will only debut this series in Spring 2011 for 10 episodes commitment.

Who remembers when this was supposed to be a movie with Christina Ricci and Viggo?

He's always up for a good time, and last night (June 1) Chris Brown was spotted at the Marina Abramovic event at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The "Kiss Kiss" hitmaker joined fellow celebrities like Courtney Love, Liv Tyler, and Christina Ricci for the swanky evening. And though his public reputation has already taken a serious hit, it seems Chris isn't worried about bad press.

Brandon Flowers Single in 3 weeks, UK Tour

Brandon Flowers has told Xfm that he will be touring the UK this year in support of his debut solo album, ‘Flamingo’. His backing band is said to consist of friends and past-touring buddies, with a stage show that’s likely to grow steadily into the live extravaganza associated with The Killers.

“Yes, we’ll definitely be over this year”, he told Xfm. “I think it’s going to be very meat-and-potatoes at first. We’re going to learn the songs and then learn how to present them. A Killers song will creep in every now and then. It’s inevitable”.

And of his back-up band:

“It’s a collection of guys that The Killers know. They’re our friends that we’ve acquired over the years”.

Brandon’s, as-yet-untitled single will debut on radio in three weeks time
, followed by album ‘Flamingo’ in September.

Prince on Cover of June Ebony Magazine

Entering the world of Prince Rogers Nelson is like slipping into the altered reality of The Matrix. After Ebony recently spent 12 hours with the icon, we learned that he is as deliberate as he is mysterious and deeply loyal of those in his inner circle but fiercely guarded and suspicious of most others, at least at first interaction. Prince has definitely carved out his own rules and makes no bones about it. That’s what truly makes him who he really is while remaining true to himself. He has also been very fortunate to work with some of the best musical artists, Sheila E., for example, and intriguing crooners, Vanity, in the business.

This renegade artist seems a juxtaposition of opposites—he is a pop star, an icon no doubt, but one who is an example of extreme musical aptitude. Let’s face it, he has been ever since his first album, For You—which he produced, arranged and wrote. It was released when he was just 20.

He is equally profoundly curious about everything—people and how they think, self-expression, the creative process—and ultimately, the oneness of humankind. For three decades, this creative visionary has been challenging himself and us to think differently about who we are and how we engage. He is unquestionably a musical genius with a flair for only the best.

Rue McClanahan dead at 76.

Golden Girl Rue McClanahan, 76, has died.

"She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning," her manager, Barbara Lawrence, tells PEOPLE. She had a massive stroke."

McClanahan, who played Blanche Deveraux on the still-popular '80s sitcom Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Lawrence added that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan “had her family with her. She went in peace.”

Still in syndication, Golden Girls ran on NBC from 1985 to 1992. Only last year, McClanahan's costar, Beatrice Arthur, died from cancer. Estelle Getty died in 2008. Surviving star Betty White is currently enjoying a remarkable resurgence in her career, having recently hosted Saturday Night Live.

Born in Healdton, Okla., Rue lived in six towns by the time she was 8. (Her father was a road builder who moved from one project to another.) She found solace in acting ("the only thing I ever wanted to do") and after four years at the University of Tulsa moved to New York, where she worked as a part-time file clerk while trying to find jobs in the theater.

Belinda Carlisle Talks About 30-Year Drug Habit

How Belinda Carlisle Beat a 30-Year Drug Habit

To Belinda Carlisle's fans, the gorgeous Go-Go appeared to have it all. She led a charmed life complete with musical success, a great marriage and unmatched beauty. But underneath it all, the singer has had her share of struggles. "I hit a lot of bottoms," she tells PopEater while discussing her searing new memoir, 'Lips Unsealed.' Those lows had an awful lot to do with a cocaine habit that grabbed hold of her for 30 years. Now 51, she's been sober only five years. "I don't know why it took me so long," she says. Her inspiration? The thought of her teenage son, Duke, whose dad is Morgan Mason, one day finding his mom dead of an overdose. "That's pretty low," she tells us. "You can't be my age and doing the amount of cocaine I was doing."

In our full interview, Carlisle talks candidly about how she kicked coke, the painful criticism about her weight ("It really messed my head up"), feeling bad for old friend Fergie and having no regrets about her gloriously-debauched days in The Go-Go's.

Film - The Old Guard

Ranking all 113 episodes of Lost. No, really. (113-51)

After a week of crying big fat geek tears over DHARMA beer and buckets of Mr. Cluck's, we have finally brought ourselves to accept "The End" as the end of Lost, one of our favorite shows.

To help us move on and let go, flash-sideways style, we decided the cathartic thing to do was to rank and file every episode of the series, all 113 of 'em, and then pick our number one bestest episode. Using series impact, audience reception, episode quality, impact on overall mythology and our ol' friend Editor's Choice, we submit for your fanboy scrutiny our list of the series' entire run of episodes.

From flying kites with Jack to Naomi getting Locke'd in the back. From outrunning clickety Black Smoke to putting the rock cork back in the Island's heart hole, we look back at six seasons of frustratingly good television. And we encourage you to check out IGN TV's Pearl Station below, where the rest of our Lost coverage awaits.

Gwyneth Paltrow remains beyond adorable

Gwyneth Paltrow Makes A Mexican Dinner

In this week's GOOP, Gwyneth shows her fans how to make "Baja style" shrimp tacos. She says the shrimp are easy and healthy and "the combination of fresh lime juice and Cholula hot sauce is pretty much unparalleled." For the salsa she explains she prefers grape tomatoes because they retain their shape when chopped. Find the whole recipe here.

Gwyneth writes:

It is possible to make a quick and easy dinner for the family that everyone loves. Make it your own; set up all the parts separately and then explore variations on a theme. The kids can eat black bean and brown rice tacos with guacamole and pico de gallo without hot chili. The grownups can have grilled shrimp, hot sauce...

trailer for some movie 'Alpha and Omega'

LionsGate isn’t really the studio most people think of for cutting edge 3D CGI animation. In fact, despite having a film or two in release, I don’t ever think of LionsGate with respect to animation, at all. But they’re trying. The latest attempt to capture the hearts and minds of audiences is Alpha and Omega, a story of two wolves trying to rejoin their pack. Check out the trailer after the break.

The synopsis for this one is pretty thin: “two mismatched wolves are thrown together by circumstance,” is basically the extent of it. The leads, voiced by Justin Long and Hayden Panettiere, are trapped and taken to Idaho, then have to try to find their way home. Along the way there’s some class-based comedy and a little lupine romance.

Supporting cast includes Christina Ricci, Danny Glover, Dennis Hopper, and Larry Miller. The film is directed by Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck from a script by Chris Denk. Bell has experience directing
Duckman, Rugrats, and The Boondocks, while Gluck has Disney’s Brother Bear 2 under his belt.

wtf @ crest animated studios? what the hell , why does this animation look so bad..? it really makes me sad considering it's a movie about wolves , too..not enough childrens movies where wolves aren't the bad guys (ilu balto)

'Big Bang Theory' Stars Want A 285% Raise

Thanks to stunning viewership gains and a lucrative syndication deal, The Big Bang Theory has made geek chic and its employers happy.

Now the show’s leads, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons, would like to share in that success. Looking ahead to next season, they’re hoping to renegotiate their $65,000 per episode paychecks to a whopping $250,000 a show--a 285% raise. (Warner Brothers, the studio that produces and licenses the show to the CBS network, declined to comment. Representatives at CBS could not be reached.)

Out of line? Hardly. While it’s a massive boost from the relative peanuts the three actors were making as their show shot up the Nielsen charts, it’s hardly Charlie Sheen money that they’re after. In fact, their asking price is about one-fifth of what their fellow network star will make next season, and that’s before his hefty Two and a Half Men back-end is factored in. Of course, unlike Sheen, who publicly toyed with leaving the show had his recent round of negotiations fallen through, Big Bang's actors are technically locked in for several more seasons. (Actors on six and seven year contracts typically come in asking to renegotiate after two or three seasons.)

In this case, the sum of money the Big Bang stars will likely request in the coming weeks will put them in Desperate Housewives territory. (Thanks to a deal hammered out years earlier, that show’s stars, Eva Longoria Parker, Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and Teri Hatcher, negotiate collectively for the same episodic salary.) While the ladies of Wisteria Lane have three seasons on their less fashion-forward competition, the Housewives’ serialized drama lacks the after-life riches Big Bang is poised to reap.

And with that, we lay out the three stars’ many layers of leverage as they approach their bosses.

Sam Mendes Chooses Roald Dahl, Carey Mulligan over RDJ and Oz + some other British people

It seems that the potentially fantastic teaming of director Sam Mendes and Robert Downey Jr. for The Great and Powerful Oz is not written in the stars.  Mendes has three likely projects on the horizon, but they all take place far away from the Emerald City.  They are:

  • the next James Bond film

- I wish that if the Mendes/Downey collaboration doesn't go through, they'll let another director do it. But keep Downey please.

Disturbing new details in the Joran van der Sloot case

Those are the big questions today, after news broke that the young Dutchman arrested twice in connection with the 2005 disappearance of American teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba -- pictured above -- is now the prime suspect in another young woman's murder, this time in Peru.

The bloodied body of 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez was found this weekend in van der Sloot's hotel room -- five years to the day that Holloway disappeared.

The two met at a casino -- the same place he first met Holloway, whose case remains unsolved.

An arrest warrant has been issued, and authorities believe van der Sloot in on the run in Chile, perhaps heading for Argentina.

Embedded below is last night's report from Ashleigh Banfield, which includes the shocking new accusations, as well as the strange history of the murder suspect.

New details:

-The victim, Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, was beaten and stabbed to death inside a room registered in Joran's name
-The father of the victim said he last saw her with Joran
-Authorities think he may be in Chile or Argentina   HE WAS JUST ARRESTED!!!
-Police have surveillance showing that Joran met Natalee Holloway in a casino AND now have tape of him meeting Stephany in a casino. Coincidence much?

Why you should be happy Del Toro left The Hobbit

Why you should be happy Del Toro left The Hobbit

Not everybody is sad that Guillermo Del Toro isn't going to be directing The Hobbit after all. Lauren Panepinto, creative director at Orbit Books and Yen Press, explains why she had misgivings about a Pan's Labyrinth-style Hobbit.

Back when Guillermo Del Toro was announced as the director of The Hobbit, my initial response was an unenthusiastic groan. Immediately after this thought I felt some intense fangirl guilt - wasn't Pan's Labyrinth a fabulous and visually original movie? Absolutely. Isn't Del Toro one of the most visually stunning directors working today? Undeniable. Is he one of barely a handful of producers today that can get fantasy movies done without the studios screwing them up? A resounding Yes. But what I immediately thought was: "If I see one guy with eyeballs in the palms of his hands, I am going to lose it."

See, I'm a huge Hellboy comics fan, especially of Mike Mignola's art, and Del Toro's handling of the films really left me cold. The first film was a cautious adaptation, in much the way Singer's lukewarm first X-Men film was. But that was fine - there's only so much freedom you can squeeze out of a big studio when trying to adapt something so unique, and as downright strange, to the screen as a big red demon ghostbuster. And all while worrying about making enough money to greenlight a second film. But with Hellboy II, Del Toro had all the freedom to push the visual style into something really fabulous, and we got... Pan's Labyrinth with a big red demon ghostbuster. Don't tell me you all didn't think it when you saw the guy in the cave with the wings and the palm-eyeballs. You know you did.

Is it unfair to expect a director to be able to perfectly adapt a comic's visual style to the screen? Some would say yes, but Robert Rodriguez did a damn fine job with Sin City, and Zack Snyder absolutely nailed the visual translations of both 300 and Watchmen. There is a difference between directing a story of your own creation, and an adaptation of a property that is already loved and lauded for its visuals. Peter Jackson was so careful to stay true to so much of the visual library built up over the decades since Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings, and it paid off in the universal joy of fans everywhere. I just couldn't bring myself to trust that Del Toro would be able to follow P. J.'s lead and resist remaking the movies in his style. Maybe Peter Jackson will direct, maybe not. Certainly there are a lot of candidates, and there are plenty of directors better suited to working within an established visual language. I'd take Alfonso Cuaron in a hot second.

Del Toro has an imagination with his own creations that I will pay to see again and again. And truly, this is the best thing about Del Toro leaving The Hobbit. He can get back to the creative freedom of his own stories. That is where he truly shines. And now I can stop wondering which Tolkein characters were most likely to end up with the eyeball treatment. (My guess was the trolls.)

Lindsay passes drug tests

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lindsay Lohan has taken two drug tests as part of her probation and passed both, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

What’s more, there have been no problems with the star’s SCRAM bracelet, which she wears also as part of her probation.

RadarOnline.com found the answer to the question that everyone following Lindsay’s case has been asking and to the surprise of some and happiness of others, the Mean Girls star is clean.

“She is clear of illegal substances,” a source with knowledge of the situation told RadarOnlne.com exclusively. “She has already taken two tests and passed both.”

As RadarOnline.com was first to report, Lindsay told friends that she would not have a problem with the random drug testing or giving up alcohol. And her friends say that she has seemed better and sharper than ever.

Danette Meyers, the prosecutor handling Lindsay’s case, told RadarOnlne.com that she would be notified about Lindsay’s drug tests only if they came up dirty. She said she had not been notified.

Nominess for the Television Critics Association 2010 Awards

"Modern Family" and "Glee" will be duking it out at another awards show later this summer.

The two first-year shows are among the leading nominees for the 2010 Television Critics Association Awards, which were announced Thursday (June 3). They'll also be competing head-to-head in every category in which they're nominated: Program of the year, outstanding comedy series, outstanding new series and the individual comedy award.

"Modern Family" has five nominations total, while "Glee" has four; "Family's" Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet were both nominated for individual achievement in comedy, while Jane Lynch is the sole "Glee" representative in the category.

AMC's "Breaking Bad" also has four nominations, for program of the year, best drama and two individual drama nominations for Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.  "The Good Wife," "Lost," "The Big Bang Theory," "Sons of Anarchy" and "Parks and Recreation" also all have multiple nominations.

Not on the nominations list much are recent awards titans "Mad Men" and "30 Rock." The AMC series has a single nomination for best drama, while "30 Rock," which most critics believe had a down season in a year where comedy in general was strong, was shut out.

The TCA Awards will be given on July 31. Here are all the nominees:

GaGita's fake murder scene controversy

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
While one should expect to see a little outside the ordinary during her performances, fans in England feel that Lady GaGa crossed the line at her gig in Manchester on Wednesday night (June 3).

As the "Paparazzi" singer faked a murder scene complete with gushing blood, members of the audience weren't in the proper mood for the theatrics.

The reason behind the sour dispositions is that a horrific shooting spree killing twelve took place just hours before the concert in Cumbria, which followed the murders of three prostitutes in Bradford a few days prior.

A mother who took her 14-year-old daughter to the show told Daily Mail, "I was absolutely sickened at what I saw. We know Lady Gaga is not exactly mainstream performance for all the family but she really crossed the line this time. 'The scene may have been part of her show but it could have been toned down give the violent events of Bradford and Cumbria."

The concerned concertgoer adds, "It was extremely tasteless to see her pretend to be attacked in such a gory way - especially in front of young children. What happened in Bradford is very fresh in people's minds and given all the violence which happened in Cumbria just hours earlier, pop stars should be more a lot more sensitive and not be featuring scenes of murder in their shows. Several of us were aghast when Lady Gaga appeared to be covered in blood. There were lot of the kids there who were sickened too. Many had their hands over their mouths in shock."

Sharlto Copley Written/Directed Thriller 'Spoon' Gets A Trailer

"District 9" was, in my opinion, one of the strongest movies of last year. Largely thanks to the performance of then-newcomer Sharlto Copley, a dude who has since gone on to land a lead role in "The A-Team." Making all of this even more impressive is the fact that Copley never even intended to act in the first place! As he told us last year, he was originally set to produce, and it was Peter Jackson who pushed for him to star. It's clear though that Copley has hopes of working behind the camera as well as in front of it.

In fact, he already has! A trailer for "Spoon" has surfaced online, a supernatural thriller starring Rutger Hauer and written/directed/produced by Copley. A debut trailer is now up online too, thanks to Twitch.

Looking forward to this film, since I'm a huge fan of psychological thrillers as well as seeing Sharlto's directorial skills in action.
EDIT: I changed it to a youtube video so it should be working now, sorry if there were any problems

HEY YOU GUYS - 25 years of the Goonies

Believe it or not, June 7 marks the 25th anniversary of seminal ’80s geeks-make-good film The Goonies. And while it’s important to note that the movie is no Star Wars, a special-effects laden epic that dazzled us with an otherworldly mythos, it’s also no Star Wars, a beloved franchise done in by after-market retcons and far inferior modern incarnations. The Goonies was a moment in time, and, while we’ve grown older, the tale has stayed the same.

Some of the film’s key elements haven’t aged particularly well — the hallmark racial stereotypes of the day and Josh Brolin’s gym-shorts-over-sweatpants ensemble, just to point out a pair of obvious examples — but beneath its stone-washed denim and jelly bracelet façade, The Goonies persists as a nerd culture classic because it paints a fantastical story in relatable shades. It’s about family crisis, an entire middle class neighborhood facing destruction. It’s about adolescent adventure, the delightful recklessness and boundless energy of youth. But most importantly, it’s about outsider solidarity, that undeniable need for misfits to form their own ramshackle tribe in the name of self-preservation and, well, fun.

On the NBC sitcom Community, Donald Glover and Danny Pudi play Troy and Abed, two students at Greendale Community College with a very close friendship.

It turns out they have a few things in common with their fictional counterparts: An ability to finish each other’s sentences. And a habit of dressing alike.

“Of course we planned this!” Pudi said.

“We flew all the way to Toronto!” Glover adds.

Interview interviews Metric's Emily Haines

Metric's Twilight Fantasies

“If my life is mine, what shouldn’t I do?” Emily Haines, lead singer of the Canadian band Metric, sings on "Help, I'm Alive," the hit single from last year's Fantasies. It's not so much a rhetorical question as it is a brave reclamation of self-purpose: it's Haines flipping the bird at the imagined glass ceilings and self-doubt she condemned on previous records. Any why shouldn't she? Even in a fractured musical climate that doesn't invite or invent figureheads like it once did, Emily Haines has recently been elevated to the role of indie pop's cool big sister. At a recent sold-out show at New York City's Terminal 5, she prowled the stage with the devastating cool of a feline predator.

With the success of Fantasies, Haines is now ready to wow her biggest audience–perhaps the biggest audience—as the composer of the theme song to Twilight: Eclipse. I spoke to her about her whirlwind year.

Mystery of How Marina Abramovic Peed, Solved

How long can you go without peeing?

Remember this staring contest performance art

Last week we asked the all-important question about Marina Abramovic’s recently completed performance-art piece “The Artist Is Present,” which had Abramovic sitting in a chair at MoMA for 736 hours and 30 minutes: How does she pee? We hypothesized that Abramovic might be using a catheter, diaper, or bed pan— and reported that her assistant "insists that she just holds it in." Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Abramovic re-affirmed that she was all about muscle control: “They made a lot of interesting drawings of how I pee. I didn’t even have urge. I really think it is funny how [New York Magazine writer Jerry Saltz] doesn’t even consider this possible to have mind control. And I really have mind control.”

DAMMIT! Don’t they realize that unimpressive person could be ME?

Christina Aguilera and Jordan Brafman:

When these met, Christina Aguilera was one of the hottest and most talented musical acts in the business, as well as the sex symbol most unafraid to change her image since Madonna. Bratman was a “music marketer,” whatever that is.

True, he looks like a less-attractive version of Tom Green, but Aguilera swears by their sex life, even talking in interviews about how they have designated naked time. I’m sorry, but that blows my f*cking mind. Did he just open the door for her on a bad day? I honestly want to know how that happened, so that I can do the same thing to an equally wealthy and sexy woman.

There will be someone missing from the upcoming reunion episode of the reality television show "The Real Housewives of New York City."

That's Jennifer Gilbert, an event planner who was quietly introduced in recent weeks on the Bravo TV show as someone arranging a party for housewife Jill Zarin.

Believe it or not, Gilbert wasn't just tapped to organize a party but to be a full-fledged cast member on the third season of the show,
which follows a group of women as they juggle their careers, motherhood and busy social calendars. But she says she couldn't get any airtime.

"I don't know there's anything I could've done differently to advocate for myself without looking obnoxious," Gilbert says. "I found in a lot of situations if you didn't scream the loudest or say the meanest thing you weren't heard."

They really were trying to make her housewife number 8! Back in October there were some write-ups about her and Sonja Morgan joining the cast, and she was also interviewed about it on a few different sites. Here's a link to an article about her for New York Magazine: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/10/meet_your_new_real_housewives.html

When I first saw this I was worried about Rick Ross featuring on the track, however in this snippet we hear very little from him, therefore I shall ignore him until the full version leaks. The beat is reminiscent of “Stronger” (minus the Daft Punk sample) and provides a minimal yet substantial base for the rap. The rapping from Kanye is strong too providing his usual obnoxious lyrics and talking about the way he is viewed by the media. It has not been confirmed as to whether this will be featured on “Good Ass Job”, but Kanye’s recent work suggests that the album may well be “classic” material.

Friends reunited: Jennifer Aniston joins Courteney Cox in Scream 4

Would You Be Excited to See Jennifer Aniston in Scream 4?

Jennifer Aniston will reunite with her "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox in the upcoming "Scream" sequel.

They have both signed on to return for a fourth installment of the franchise, which begins shooting later this year - and Cox has persuaded Aniston to join in the fun.

A source tells Star magazine, "Scream has always been an important part of Courteney's life, and she wanted Jennifer to be a part of the production."

But Aniston's "Scream" appearance will be a short one - she will be the masked killer's first victim when her character is murdered in the opening sequence.

Neve Campbell, the lead in the 1996 movie, has also agreed to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott for a fourth outing. Julia Roberts' niece Emma Roberts has also joined the cast.

Laura Leighton on "Pretty Little Liars" Role

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Laura Leighton as a mother?!? This is a role many long-time Melrose Place viewers can't imagine, as the actress rose to fame on that primetime soap opera by portraying evil, promiscuous vixen Sydney Andrews.

But Leighton shows off a different side on Pretty Little Liars, which debuts on ABC Family next week. TV Fanatic took part in a conference call with the star a couple days ago and have excerpted her thoughts on character Ashley Marin below...

On the appeal of her character: It’s a juicy part. It’s challenging, always, to have a character that’s acting sort of outside your own moral compass; making choices that you wouldn’t necessarily make. Ashley is certainly finding herself in the position of making some parenting choices and choices in general for herself and her family that are a little bit shocking.

On playing a single mother: Hanna is her daughter. And Ashley is working to keep it all together, as any single mom has to. She’s a business woman; she’s got a bit of an edge. She’s very matter-of-fact, and she places very high value on appearances. She wants to maintain her image and pulling herself together every day is high on her list.

So when her daughter makes the mistakes and she needs to cover those up, she acts in desperation and thinks of the best thing she can think of at the time. Like how she should try to cover up and what’s the best way to do it. She’s really just trying to maintain appearances and her life and her lifestyle. She’s struggling to balance it all.

On relating to the character: I certainly relate to her being a mother and trying to juggle her career and make parenting choices and connect with her daughter. I think those are just really sort of classic themes that are in the show. And I think that throughout the various story lines there is with all the different children in the show with their parents, there is a unique relationship with each story.

And I think that audiences will be drawn to that because there’s so much that you can relate to within families. Conversations that occur, or just the everyday life of getting ready in the morning and the craziness of everybody needs to go here or there. They’re just sort of classic themes.

TV Fanatic will recap, review and cover Pretty Little Liars in depth. Will you tune in for its premiere on June 8?

Marina and a floating hedgehog attempt to get you to drink Stella Artois.

It’s Marina And The Diamonds. In A Spaceship. In The Past.

You love Marina And The Diamonds. Of course you do. Everyone does. And everyone has done, since the early 1960s.
Which admittedly was several decades before she was born, but look at the evidence. It’s right there, after the jump. Black and white, stylish French people, spaceships – and there’s Marina right in the middle of things, wailing on about something or other.
It’s all part of an advertising campaign for beer bottles that aren’t as heavy as other beer bottles, but don’t let that stop you watching it. It’s borderline glorious…

Felicia Day Brings 'The Guild: Season Three' To DVD While Shooting Season Four

Do you think Felicia Day knew the giant bag of loot she fell on the day she created her stupendously successful web series “The Guild?” Most likely not but with the DVD of the show’s third season hitting wide release this Tuesday, her raiding party is likely to be sporting some new gear pretty soon.

If that first paragraph made no sense to you, you may not be into online gaming but if you’re a fan of Day (‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”) you may know enough to appreciate the humor.

“The Guild: Season Three” is wrapped but I recently spoke with Day about her ups and downs over the course of the latest episodes in the popular web series.

“The whole season was kind of a roller coaster,” she said. “I didn’t realize adding six other cast members to the equation was gonna be a little more complicated than previous seasons but it was actually the most fun to write.”

On the production side of things, Day says the show has gotten bigger but not easier. “It’s still just me and my producer Kim Evey doing the show by ourselves. We don’t really have an office,” she said. “We still do it out of our houses so we’re having to bring more people just to run the show on a daily basis.”

Besides churning out quality content, she also believes it’s extremely important to maintain your show’s community. “Web series are unique because you have your community constantly living on the internet and enjoying the show wherever they want, whenever they want,” she said. “So it’s important to provide interactivity and to answer their questions no matter what day they pop online.”

As Day’s 1.7 million Twitter followers will prove, fans are certainly essential but she’s also a fan herself. She said introducing the rival guild at the end of the first episode of Season Three was one of her favorite moments.

“I also really enjoyed the Zaboo/Riley arc, which was a little bit abusive but in a humorous way. It’s definitely tongue-in-cheek,” she said. “It kinda makes fun of the idea that the FPS gamer, Riley, takes some of these male fantasies of the gamer chick and kind of turns them on their head a little bit.”

And believe it or not, Day is already in the middle of shooting Season Four. “It’s comparable to some independent films out there which is something to be proud of but also something to be a little overwhelmed by sometimes,” she said. “The goal is to downsize a little and of course that didn’t happen so we have some scenes with fifty extras so it should be really fun.”

She also mentioned giving the characters a break after having been put through the ringer in Season Three. “The integrity of the guild isn’t going to be as life threatened. I really wanted to explore some different combinations of characters that we haven’t seen before.”

“The Guild: Season Three” is available everywhere DVDs are sold this Tuesday coincidentally enough, the same day as the Blu-Ray release of Day’s other project, “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.”

James Cameron to save the earth and give free puppy/kitten to everyone

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Despite Rush Limbaugh announcing the oil spill is as perfectly natural as getting a boner with Mexican Viagra, the US government has apparently brought in Avatar director James Cameron because he directed a movie about a giant boat once. Admittedly, I was skeptical until I saw he wears leather jacks and drinks a lot which is half the battle right there. People reports:

The Canadian-born Oscar winner, 55, is an ocean-technology buff and has been an expert in underwater filming and manned submersible vehicles since his pioneering work on The Abyss in the 1980s.
"It's about looking at all the what-ifs - if this fails, if that fails, what happens," Nuytco chief pilot Jeff Heaton told Canada's Globe and Mail.
In all seriousness, the oil spill is a monumentally epic disaster and James Cameron does know a lot about the ocean, so there's a good chance he might help bring this bitch to a close. Or just stare blankly then suggest we remake Dances with Wolves with blue people. At which point, there'll be no choice but to execute Plan B: Telling Mel Gibson the oil spill is releasing Jews into the atmosphere. (I want a reward if that works.)

Adam Young of Owl City Working On New Side Project : Sky Sailing

Adam Young, the Minnesota-based mastermind behind chart-topping electro-pop project Owl City, is going back in time.
The 23-year-old musician is reviving his former moniker, Sky Sailing, to release an album -- called An Airplane Carried Me to Bed -- of pre-Owl City songs on June 13. Young explains: "These recordings are a step into the past, the documented account of a shy boy from Minnesota with more hopes and dreams than he knew what to do with."
Young's first order of business with his return to Sky Sailing was to post a MySpace page, complete with two tracks. The songs -- called "Brielle" and "I Live Alone" -- suggest the poignant sound of Owl City, yet focus more on acoustic guitar and piano than synth and ambient blips and bleeps.

Van der Sloot Charged in U.S. with Extortion

The United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama charged Joran Van der Sloot Thursday afternoon with extortion and wire fraud, saying the Dutchman promised information on Natalee Holloway's whereabouts in exchange for $250,000, reports CBS News affiliate WHNT in Huntsville, Ala.

Read the criminal complaint here.

Van der Sloot, who has been the main suspect in the Holloway disappearance in Aruba five years ago, was arrested Thursday in the murder of a young woman in Peru. Stephany Flores, 21, was killed in a Lima hotel Sunday.

Witnesses saw van der Sloot and Flores together in a casino over the weekend and again, entering the hotel room together around 5 a.m. Sunday, reports CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano.

Natalee Holloway's father told WHNT it was big relief that Van der Sloot was caught.

"There's no doubt van der Sloot's a bad kid," said Dave Holloway. "He screwed up and he needs to be locked up somewhere."

Did Lady Gaga Just Fall For A Twitter Hoax?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A few hours ago, Lady Gaga tweeted “will cry all day, we lost a lovely and beautiful little monster ana to leukemia #ripanalittlemonster” to her more than 4 million followers. She linked to the incredibly moving story of a 15-year-old Lady Gaga fan who apparently died this morning. According to an exclusive Crushable investigation, it appears that Gaga and her fans may have been the victim of a cruel hoax.

This morning, a Twitter user named “JoelxSoul” tweeted: “This is a moment of sadness, as I have to share the news I hoped I’d never have to share. This a.m. my baby sister Ana (@analilmonster as you probably know her) lost her, almost 5 year old, battle against acute lymphocytic leukemia.” He then writes about Ana’s bravery, and her enduring love for Lady Gaga. He asks for privacy for the family, but also asks everyone’s help in passing this story on to Gaga. He then tweeted identical messages to three people who had corresponded with “Analilmonster” on twitter. “I’m asking my sister’s contact’s on her profile to help me get this http://tl.gd/1l8ndr to Lady Gaga by RT. #RIPlilmonster.”

Within a few hours, the story — screengrabbed in full below — had reached Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton, who both retweeted it. Here’s Gaga’s response:

Well, this was anti-climactic: Fake 12 Second Britney Leak Posted on Some Fan's Twitter

So, earlier today iLeaks posted this (see earlier post here):

iLeaks was willing to trade a leak from Britney's upcoming album for 10,000 twitter followers. And, accordingly every Brit stan in the land jizzed their panties. The 10,000 followers was quickly reached and a lovely fellow named SamxBrit got the opportunity to share the track. However, this is the internet and so, of course, it wasn't that simple. SamxBrit did not "unlock" the track for everyone. Instead, he demanded 1000 twitter followers of his own! Despite their anger (their hilarious, hilarious anger) Brit stans rallied - their hatred of this SamxBrit and his tactics would not stand in the way of NEW BRITNEY. 1000 followers were reached. SamxBrit had to make good on his promise. This is what he posted:

Collapse )

For the TL;DR Crowd: There is no new song. Basically, it looks like iLeaks and SamxBrit (possibly affiliated with iLeaks?) used Britney stans for traffic and followers. Which, I suppose is a victory for Britney stans: you are the stanniest stans of all. Y'all were identified as the craziest, most devoted stans and iLeaks utilized your powers and used them to achieve their own goals.

10 Trailers For Movie Sequels That Don't Exist Yet....But Likely Could

I’ll be honest - I could go for a new Jaws movie.  No, I don’t think the most recent sequels were very good, but there’s something about a giant shark lurking through the water to a John Williams score only to eviscerate an unfortunate swimmer that gets me amped up.  Some formulas just work, I guess.

Judging by some of the videos on the Internet, I’m not alone.  But it’s not just Jaws sequels that people are pining for; there are fan-made trailers for yet-to-be released sequels all over the place.  Not all are great, but I managed to find some pretty cool ones (the Ghostbusters one is insane).  I do have a feeling that we’ll inevitably see these actual sequels released at some point - a very strong feeling, actually - but in the meantime, enjoy 10 trailer for movie sequels that don’t exist…yet.

Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of its Emmy Award-winning sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and is in development on the sequel to “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” cable TV’s second-highest rated scripted telecast of all time in Total Viewers (13.5 million), Kids 6-11 and Tweens. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production on the fourth season is scheduled to begin in August with show runners Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio (“Married…with Children,” “Greetings from Tucson”) executive-producing. Todd J. The script for the Disney Channel Original Movie sequel will be written by Dan Berendsen (Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” and the upcoming “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam”).

Dad: Lindsay Lohan Is 'On the Straight and Narrow'

Things are on the upswing for Lindsay Lohan, according to her parents.

"She's fine, she's good," her mother, Dina, told PEOPLE Thursday about her daughter, who is currently wearing a court-ordered alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet.

The actress was seen out clubbing just days after a judge ordered her to wear the ankle bracelet – also called a SCRAM device – but has kept a relatively low profile since then.

"I am happy for her," said her father Michael Lohan, who met with his ex-wife in a New York Family Court to resolve child support issues on Thursday.

"She's on the straight an narrow," added Michael, who previously demanded that his daughter go to rehab. "I hope it continues."

One thing Michael is not happy about: Lindsay’s latest role as 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace in the upcoming film Inferno. "She better not do that Linda Lovelace movie," he said. "Why would any parent want their daughter to do that?"

As for the Michael and Dina's custody issues, his lawyer, John DiMascio, Jr., announced that the exes have resolved their problems, but the terms are confidential.  "The Lohans are extremely happy," DiMascio said after the hearing. "They entered into this agreement after hours and hours of negotiations."
