Metric won 2 Juno awards for their self released album "Fantasies"!
Metric's breakthrough record 'Fantasies' won Alternative Album of the Year
at the 2010 Juno Awards Saturday night, their first win after three nominations. The Toronto dance-rock quartet is up for two more awards during Sunday night's televised ceremony, including Songwriter of the Year and Group of the Year. (They also won Group of the Year
, but lost to Wavin' Flag for song of the year)
"Awards are an interesting thing," singer Emily Haines said backstage. Metric performed their song Gimme Sympathy live at the Juno's tonight, (ugh, yes i watched a a tiny bit of the Junos tonight, feel free to judge me) when i noticed a shiny ring on frontwoman Emily Haines' finger. A quick google search brought me to an article in which Emily states,
"I live in New York. With my fiance"

Metric won $100 000 for charity through the Pepsi Refresh SXSW Challenge
Metric beat out fellow Canadians and old band members Broken Social Scene in a contest held by Pepsi, with the winner getting a donation made on their behalf to the charity of their choice.( Collapse )
