Slumdog Millionaire couple Freida Pinto and Dev Patel meet a prickly new pal at San Diego Zooearlier this month in California.

Freida, 25, and Dev, 19, were introduced to a prehensile-tailed porcupine called Icana and Diego the ocelot, an endangered species of cat from South America often hunted for their beautiful fur.

“He is so soft and cute,” Freida was overheard saying back in her hotel lobby.

Jermaine Jackson came out swinging at an event at the Magic Johnson theater in L.A. yesterday, claiming the 1993 molestation accusations against his brother were false ... and the suicide of the accuser's dad proves it.

Jermaine -- who spoke at a Michael Jackson charity event -- said the accuser's dad could not live with a guilty conscience and that's why he killed himself. Jermaine also latched onto Internet rumors that the accuser himself said Jackson didn't touch him.

THE "Sex and the City" group is doing seven weeks in Morocco. Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall are at the Amanjena Hotel, Sarah Jessica's at the newly redone Mamounia, where the lobby's so dark you can't recognize anyone unless you came in with them, Cynthia Nixon's at the Es Saadi. Their time spent together is strictly in front of the cameras. No socializing off camera. Even when Kristin and Kim booked dinner reservations at their same hotel same hour, it was different tables.

The Marrakesh souk is filled with movie equipment -- gantries, lights, dressing rooms. Since the script deals with Samantha meeting a guy from Dubai who's loaded and takes them all there, they also co-opted the as yet unopened Mandarin Oriental to make it into a hotel in Dubai. Interior scenes were filmed last month here in Williamsburg in a Moroccan-type club setting.

The story of what happened to Shaniya Davis has affected thousands of people, including NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, who paid for the slain 5-year-old child's funeral.

"He was very touched by the story, and requested how to get in touch with the family," said a Cleveland Cavaliers spokesperson, who confirmed Wednesday that O'Neal paid for the service.

More than 2,000 people attended Shaniya's funeral at Manna Church on Sunday. She was buried at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

Corey Breece, of Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, would not reveal Wednesday the cost of the child's service. However, he said the cost of a child's funeral "averages around $4,500."

Bradley Lockhart, 39, the child's father, could not be reached for comment. A family friend, Vaughn Eason, said the family was out of town for the holidays.

Shaniya's body was found Nov. 16 in a wooded area off N.C. 87 south of Sanford, six days after she was reported missing by her mother.

Mario McNeill, 29, is charged with first degree kidnapping, murder and rape in the case. McNeill turned himself into police on Nov.13 after he was seen on surveillance video at a Sanford hotel holding Shaniya in his arms.

Antoinette Davis, 25, the child's mother, is charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution against her daughter.

Davis and McNeill are incarcerated in state prison facilities in Raleigh until their next scheduled court dates.

Davis will appear back in Cumberland County on Dec. 3. McNeill's court date is scheduled for Dec. 9.

"I was sitting at home watching it on the news and the story brought a tear to my eye," Shaq, as he is commonly known, told The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper on Wednesday night.

He first asked to get in touch with the Lockhart family on Nov. 18, the day after the State Medical Examiner's office confirmed that a child's body found in Lee County on Nov. 16 was in fact Shaniya's.

Bradley Lockhart and his family had setup a trust fund in memory of Shaniya to help raise money to pay for the funeral.

Eason said last week that any leftover funds earmarked for Shaniya's funeral would go to local charities, groups and agencies that help neglected or abused children.

"Being a law enforcement guy that investigates crimes against children, I wanted to be able to help in some way," Shaq told the Cleveland newspaper.

Shaq completed reserve officer's training when he lived in Los Angeles and Miami, the Cavaliers spokesperson said Wednesday. His last certification was in 2005.

Performing random acts of kindness is nothing new for Shaq.

Last year, according to the Cleveland newspaper, he paid for the funeral of NBA Hall of Famer George Mikan.

In 2007, Shaq had his own reality television show, "Shaq's Big Challenge," in which he helped children of middle school age lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle.

He was traded to the Cavaliers this past summer to be their new center. He stands at just more than 7feet tall.

Shaq, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, sat out his sixth consecutive game Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons.

There’s a dirty rumor out there today! According to the Huffington Post, Tiger Woods hasn’t been totally faithful to his wife Elin Nordegren! Rumor has it the gold champion has been engaging in a fling on the side.

The story, which is also being reported by the Media Take Out, suggests Tiger has been having an extramarital affair with a woman named Rachel Uchitel.

The woman’s name may seem irrelevant. However, Hollyscoop did a little scooping, and found that this is the same woman who was linked to Angel star David Boreanaz!

Last month, Star magazine ran a story claiming Boreanaz had been having an on-going affair with Rachel Uchitel, even while his wife Jaime Bergman was pregnant.

Now either this Rachel chick gets around to all the stars, or this is a completely fabricated lie. Tiger Woods seems to be very happy with his wife and their two children, and he’s already got a supermodel wife, so why look elsewhere?

Tiger’s camp has yet to respond to the rumors.

Most animal lovers would be happy to have a dog, or even a cat as their constant and loyal companion, but naturalist Casey Anderson has taken that a step further and adopted an 58-stone grizzly bear called Brutus, who he has raised since birth. The pair are inseparable and are so close that when Anderson married Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actress Missi Pyle in August last year, the bear stood in as best man. In fact, the creature is so fond of humans that he has become an integral part of the family, and even has the occasional place at the kitchen table and has appeared in a movie with Pyle. And while most cynics might argue the pictures are the result of Photoshop technology, Anderson and National Geographic have vouched for their authenticity.

Obama's first pardon: A turkey named Courage

WASHINGTON – After 10 months in office, President Barack Obama on Wednesday granted his first pardon — to Courage, a 45-pound turkey spared from the Thanksgiving table.

Accompanied by daughters Sasha and Malia, Obama stood under the North Portico of the White House to honor a holiday tradition that dates to 1947 — receiving a bird from the National Turkey Federation. Later in the day, Obama and his family passed out turkeys and fixings to the needy.

"I'm told Presidents Eisenhower and Johnson actually ate their turkeys," Obama said. "You can't fault them for that; that's a good-looking bird."

President George H.W. Bush was the first to officially pardon a turkey.

Obama joked about wanting to forgo the tradition and eat Courage.

"Thanks to the interventions of Malia and Sasha — because I was planning to eat this sucker — Courage will also be spared this terrible and delicious fate," he said.

In response to Obama's comments that his daughters helped to save the turkey's life, the animal rights group PETA said it is giving Malia and Sasha honorary memberships in PETA Kids.

On CBS the Early show the network decided to censor footage of Adam Lambert kissing a male keyboardist during the AMAs and then showed the Madonna-Britney kiss moments later, appearing to prove Lambert's accusations that there is a double-standard in media when it comes to gay male imagery.

CBS has responded with a really lame excuse:

"We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times, including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated and, for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences."

Miley Cyrus has reportedly compared the Twilight franchise to a "cult".

According to PA, the 17-year-old actress made the suggestion during a recent radio interview with Sirius XM.

"I think it's a cult, I think it's bad - I think it's like, just people get too into it," she is quoted as saying.

"For me, I think it's like when guys look at supermodels and they're like, 'That's the perfect girl'.

"That's what those kind of movies do to us. They're thinking that's what girls should be like and not everyone is going to be Edward, hate to say it."

She also joked to the interviewer that she was the "coolest person ever" and admitted that she thought Zac Efron was "the hottest person in the world".

Cyrus recently confessed that she had never watched Twilight and had no plans to see its sequel New Moon.

Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has attacked Stephen Fry for his Twitter messages. He described Fry's tweets as "unutterably tedious".

The journalist has accused Fry of lacking any "self-awareness, humour or irony".

Morgan told the Daily Mail: "The Twitter world is working itself into a right old lather about my assault on their hero, Stephen Fry, insisting his Tweets are not boring at all, but are in fact at the very cutting edge of sharp humour and brilliant intelligence.

"Curious to see if I had misunderstood Mr Fry's genius, I took another look at this week's offerings."

He continued: "'A pleasingly quiet day. Well now dash it if the sun's come out, making a mockery of my layers, waterproofs and brolly. Tish. There is no sound on this Earth that promises pleasure so thrillingly as the Dr Who theme tune - tingle'..

"Honestly, I'm not making this up. This is the kind of incomprehensibly dull drivel that Fry Tweets all day long."

He added: "And there are now, unbelievably, over one million people 'following' him. What is the matter with you all? Get. A. Life."

I fucking love Inside Man, but I'm iffy on a sequel.

'Twas the night before Thanksgiving..



Even though CBS won the night, the biggest winner might have been NBC with a two hour The Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now? which outperformed last week’s combo of Mercy and Law & Order: SVU. Everything else was down versus last week.

Some of you might be thinking, “Freaking DUH, it was the night before Thanksgiving! Of Course things were down! Why do they even bother?” It’s a reasonable thing to think. But sometimes you have to remember that TV is an advertising business, and despite lower viewing, advertisers are really, really interested in advertising ahead of the “Black Friday” sales. So much so that some Thanksgivings the broadcast nets have even aired new episodes on Thanksgiving night itself, though tonight I think the only original programming on the broadcast networks is The Jay Leno Show. Everything else is repeats or specials.

The ’00s: How ‘Idioteque’ explains a decade

In October, 2000, months before the year that would come to define much of the next decade, Radiohead released Kid A, the first part of what was, essentially – along with its successor, Amnesiac – a two-part album. In his 2005 book, Killing Yourself To Live: 85% Of a True Story, Chuck Klosterman posits that when people talk about 9/11, it’s like they’re talking about a dream they had, and they’re telling you about it because they want to say something about themselves without doing it overtly. Then he writes,

Kid A has no gaps in logic, perhaps because its logic is never overt; it almost seems like a musical storyboard for that particular day.

[...]

The first song on Kid A paints the Manhattan skyline at 8:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning; the song is titled, “Everything in Its Right Place.”… You can imagine humans walking to work, riding elevators, getting off the C train and the 3 train, and thinking about a future that will be a lot like the present, only better.

Now in 2009, TIME magazine is calling the ’00s “the Decade From Hell.”

So what then, do we do with a song like “Idioteque” – number 8 on the Kid A track list, and one that Klosterman passes by quickly in his analysis? We discuss it as an analogy for the entire decade, because the last ten years have felt like a dream, and the only way we can wrap our stupid heads around it is to let Thom Yorke do it for us. It’s nice to look back at a piece of music that seems now to have predicted the future, because we always like to assume that someone, somewhere, knows what’s coming. That’s never true.

Its creators claim that it is the future of film-making, leading the way to a brave new world of stereoscopic cinema. And yet, as the hype continues to build around the James Cameron's upcoming Avatar, one lone voice has dared to break from the script. On the contrary, it says, Avatar is "literally vomit inducing".

Hollywood gossip site gawker.com has published an anonymous early review from what it claims is "a real live entertainment worker", comprehensively panning the film's storyline and visual techniques. It seems safe to assume that none of the review will be quoted on the movie poster.

Budgeted at a reported $237m (£143m), Avatar is Cameron's first dramatic feature since the record-breaking Titanic, back in 1997. The film is a science-fiction fantasy set on a verdant planet called Pandora and following the adventures of a US Marine played by Sam Worthington. Cameron shot the film on his own patented "fusion digital 3D camera system" and experts argue that the results take 3D techniques to a whole new level. It is set for worldwide release on 17 December 2009.

The reviewer, however, begs to differ, describing the film as "alienating" and "weird". Moreover, he/she argues that its pioneering visual technology is liable to induce nausea in the viewer. "The problem is with cutting in between 3D focus points and perspective," the mystery critic writes. "The mind cannot adjust to it without a buffer – thus, Avatar is literally vomit inducing."

Even the review's praise comes with a sting in the tail. "There are some beautiful moments [in the film]," it concedes. "But overall it's a horrible piece of shit."

Four-night competition series airs in December



Nick Lachey will host NBC's a capella miniseries competition "The Sing-Off," which will run in two-hour installments over four nights the week of Dec. 14.

"Sing-Off" will pit eight a capella groups performing live in a tournament for a $100,000 prize and Epic/Sony recording contract. Ben Folds (Ben Folds Five) and Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men) will serve as judges, along with a guest arbiter each session.

Event will air on the Peacock from 8-10 p.m. on Dec. 14, 15, 16 and 21. Joel Gallen, Deborah Newmyer and Sam Weisman are exec producing the series, which is produced by Tenth Planet Prods., Outlaw Prods. and Sony Pictures Television.

'Precious' star may take guest spot in pilot



Gabourey Sidibe, star of Lionsgate's "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," is in talks to appear in the Showtime pilot "The C Word."

Laura Linney stars as a terminal cancer patient in the half-hour dark comedy from scribe Darlene Hunt and Sony Pictures TV. Sidibe would have a guest spot in the pilot as a teen whom Linney's character tries to help lose both weight and the bad attitude.

Pilot is set to be directed by Bill Condon.

Hunt, Linney, Neal Moritz and Vivian Cannon of Original Film exec produce.

Sidibe is receiving awards buzz for her title role in "Precious" as a teenage mother who's physically and verbally abused by her own mother (Mo'Nique). Pic will be released Nov. 6

According to INO, Heidi Klum’s husband Seal is hoping to adopt her 5 ½-year-old daughter Leni before Christmas. The 46-year-singer, who has three children with Heidi – Henry, 4, Johan, 3 and 6-week-old baby Lou – has already started on the legal proceedings to become Leni’s legal guardian.

Heidi’s father, Guenther, fully supports their decision: “Heidi, Seal and the kids have always been a happy family – in everyday life and in their heart. Then they should also be happy on paper.”

The couple has also been given the support of Leni’s biological father, 59-year-old Italian business man, Flavio Briatore. Flavio, whom Heidi has said has no part in Leni’s life, is currently expecting a child with his wife, 29-year-old Elisabetta Gregoraci.

Shortly after the birth of their first child, Seal, whose relationship with Heidi began when she was pregnant with Leni, spoke out about how he’s always thought of Leni as his own daughter:

Leni is my first child. Just like Henry I saw her take shape and move in Heidi’s body. And I was present at her birth, too. Leni is my daughter and Henry is my son. I am happy to have two healthy children and that Henry will soon be saying papa to me just like Leni does already.

Lady GaGa and Janet Jackson have been confirmed to appear on the X Factor on December 6.
The girls are the latest massive stars set to play the Sunday results show when another contestant will be kicked off.

Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, judge Cheryl Cole, Whitney Houston and Westlife are among acts already to hit the X stage.

GaGa’s performance is bound to be explosive. At Glastonbury this year she basically set fire to her breasts whilst at the VMAs she pretended to stab herself.

At the American Music Awards this week she played at a piano that was on fire and wore a typically bizarre outfit.

Janet herself is no stranger to controversial performances, having upset America by exposing her boob at the Superbowl in 2004.

Lindsay Lohan is coming home for the holidays – and her family is putting her to work!

Although Lindsay usually gets VIP treatment, while in Long Island, N.Y., with her family – including mom Dina, sister Ali, and two brothers – the Mean Girls actress will be busy in the kitchen.

"Lindsay is making the garlic mashed potatoes. They are amazing!" Dina Lohan told PEOPLE while taking a break from serving a Thanksgiving lunch to autistic and special needs community members at the Harbor Links Country Club in Long Island, N.Y. on Tuesday.

As for how her daughter her is doing, Dina says, "Lindsay is doing great right now. She's happy and very busy working. She works a lot and so we're excited to have her home for Thanksgiving."

And Lindsay isn't the only member of the family who will help with the day's feast. "Ali is doing the stuffing and I'm doing the turkey and making sure nothing burns," says Dina.

Once the meal is prepared, the family will celebrate a sweet tradition. "We go around the table and say what we are thankful for," says Dina. "I grew up with it and it's just a Thanksgiving tradition we have going on at our house that we grabbed onto … We are so blessed and it's important to share what we are thankful for, and not to take things for granted."

Lindsay Lohan will continue to work as an artistic adviser at Emanuel Ungaro despite her first collection receiving a mixed response.

Speaking to Reuters, chief executive Mounir Moufarrige insisted that Lohan would continue to collaborate with the company in the wake of her debut line being panned by critics.

"Yes, [she is staying on]. She has a job to do," he said.

"The criticism was harsh. I am sure we can do better in the collection, to be honest... But it did sell well."

When asked about reports that founder Emanuel Ungaro branded the collection a "disaster", he replied: "Mr Ungaro has his views, he can keep them. I have no comment."

Moufarrige added that future lines for the company needed to be "more tight" and "more identity-driven".

Lohan debuted her collection at Paris Fashion Week last month.

Is Nicole Richie going back to the farm? Not quite, but the star, who first became a household name after “working” on an Arkansas dairy farm with pal Paris Hilton on The Simple Life, is returning to TV.

The mother of two is in talks to star with her husband, Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden, in a new reality series. According to a friend, the concept is an at-home talk show where Nicole’s famous friends pop in to be interviewed by the couple.

“Nicole turns down a lot of roles because she doesn’t want to leave her children, Harlow and Sparrow,” the friend explains. “This would be an option because she could work from home.”

NBC Rejects PETA Thanksgiving Day Parade Ad

“When we first submitted our newest commercial to NBC in the hopes of running it during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the station asked us to give more information about the cruelty behind turkey slaughter to back up the statements made in the ad. But even after we sent the network this New York Times article chronicling the grisly facts about turkey factory farming, it nixed the ad, claiming that “this commercial does not meet NBC Universal standards.”

There were rumblings a few months back that shooting had begun on a remake of Meir Zarchi's I Spit On Your Grave with Steven R. Monroe (It Waits) behind the camera to direct for CinTel Films. Now, IMDB (via Arrow In The Head) uncovered a list of the full cast for the feature which Anchor Bay Entertainment is co-producing.

Sarah Butler, Chad Lindberg, Daniel Franzese, Rodney Eastman, Jeff Branson, Saxon Sharbino, Amber Dawn Landrum and Andrew Howard all star in the update of I Spit On Your Grave.

The only recognizable names amongst the bunch are Eastman who played Joey in A Nightmare On Elm Street 3 and 4 and Chad Lindberg who did several episodes of Supernatural and appeared in The Fast and The Furious. Sarah Butler tackles the role of Jennifer orignated by Camille Keaton.

Based on the 1978 film, I Spit On Your Grave is the story of a woman who is brutally attacked, raped, and left for dead in the wilderness. She survives to hunt down her assailants and methodically, graphically takes her vengeance. More when we hear it.

Why are we so thankful for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel in 2009? Simple. The duo redefined the "cute couple" with their cool characters in "(500) Days of Summer." They almost made us forget about all the generic rom-coms and recycled relationship tropes regurgitated onto movie screens over the past year. We salute them for their originality, their willingness to take risks and their joyful, affecting, truthful portrait of love and loss.

Recently, Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel stopped by the MTV News offices to chat about their on- and off-screen bond, their other successful projects this year and what we can look forward to from them in the future — including a possible reunion on the big screen.

T.I.’s fiancée (and Star’s mother) Tiny is managing them, and they’ve already played shows and recorded a single, “Ain’t Nobody.”

It was only a fortnight ago that we announced Simon Cowell's graduation from Karaoke Oz to Karaoke Sauron, but already his powers intensify at a horrifying rate.

To wit: Eminem has announced that he wishes to be a guest judge on The X Factor. "No disrespect to the current judges," the critically garlanded rapper explains, "but you need people who are global, platinum-selling stars. You need to prepare contestants for what it's really like out there, and what sort of pressure you are going to be under . . . A hip-hop star will never win a show like The X Factor without somebody like me on the panel . . . I am not sure I would have the time to do it full-time, but I would come and be a guest judge . . . Simon tells it like it is and I am down with that."

And down Eminem does seem to be – a once-anarchic mind laid low by the warbling orcs.

Inevitably, there are those diehard Eminem fans out there who will argue that angling to sit in judgment on the likes of Lloyd Daniels is really the most transgressive statement of all, just as there would be those who might defend Marilyn Manson pitching up on Bargain Hunt as somehow the apogee of outré. But they're so luminously wrong, aren't they, that all we can do is chalk up another victory for the dark lord, and await his Third Age with special dread.

I just finished wiping away the tears of laughter as I just discovered that the Weinstein Company and Dimension Films are planning on remaking The Amityville Horror...again. Andrew Douglas directed the 2005 reboot produced by Platinum Dunes that grossed over $100m at the box office worldwide. I guess five years in the new 25? Our sources also tell us that there just might be a director already in talks to develop the project. Knowing Dimension Films, I'd expect this project to start and stop at least a dozen times before it ultimately fails. Alas horror fiends, don't stress it no matter how idiotic this sounds.The original 1979 film followed newlyweds as they move into a house where a murder was committed, and experience strange manifestations which drive them away. MGM also retains different rights and were planning on developing The Amityville Tapes, which has been put on the back burner while MGM figures out their financial woes (auction anyone?).
