Polanski faces harsher US justice system than 1977

* U.S. justice system has become more severe on sex crimes

* Some U.S. states had sought death penalty for child rape

* Famous director could land in jail two years or more (Adds comments from L.A. police chief and prison agency)

If Los Angeles prosecutors succeed in extraditing Roman Polanski from Switzerland to face sentencing for having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl, the film director will find that U.S. courts treat his crime more severely than 30 years ago.

When Polanski pleaded guilty for the 1977 crime, in which he also was accused of plying the girl with champagne and sedatives, an agreement with prosecutors called for him to be sentenced to the 42 days he had already served in jail.

But attitudes toward sex crimes have hardened in the United States in the intervening years and public opinion today does not appear to be on Polanski's side.

50 Cent Calls Fame Kills "The Gay Tour"

50 Cent was talking about the "Fame Kills: Starring Kanye West and Lady Gaga" tour on the Angie Martinez show today. Listen to the interview above!

'Fiddy' remains sarcastic while saying he meant nothing by his statement. He hints that Kanye is gay. He also says, Kanye purposely went on Ellen DeGeneres' show to premiere his video to ~them. When one of the hosts says "There's plenty of people who do that [premiere a video on Ellen's show]", 50 replies, "who else?", saracastly.

50 u mad, u mad that you'll never live to star in a concert this epic? thought so.

Bruce Springsteen rocks Giants Stadium in final concerts at soon-to-be-demolished arena

Bruce Springsteen administered last musical rites to Giants Stadium Wednesday night. And who better to do so?

Not only has the star headlined this soon-to-be-demolished venue an astounding 24 times (selling more than 1.2 million tickets in the process), he long ago established himself as the unofficial icon of its home state, New Jersey.

More, Springsteen is no stranger to images of death and rebirth in his lyrics, a fact that lent Wednesday night's songs extra meaning, since the new stadium looms right next to the doomed one. To boldface the point, Bruce penned a topical new song to open the show - "Bring on Your Wrecking Ball," a rousing declaration of defiance in the face of destruction.

Wednesday's performance represented the first of five nonconsecutive shows Bruce will give at the stadium, leapfrogging through Oct.9. To give these shows an extra tug of nostalgia, Springsteen plans to perform one of his classic albums from start to finish at each event. Wednesday night, he offered a full-tilt take on "Born to Run."

By performing music he wrote in his 20s, just one week after turning 60 (wat), Springsteen made a bracing case for both the disk's ongoing worth and his own continued vitality. If anything, eight songs from "Run" seemed even more relevant and involving than ever, especially when he let the crowd sing the built-to-age line, "Maybe we ain't that young anymore."

Springsteen performed this, his most operatic work, more deliberately and theatrically, making its original 39 minutes last more than 55 minutes - to stirring effect. Other sections of the show held together with a recession theme.

But Bruce didn't need to dovetail with current events to seize the moment. Once again, this more than three-hour show proved him to be one of the few performers charismatic enough, and anthemic enough, to use the stadium scale to his advantage - whether it be this one, the next one, or, it would seem, whichever one that comes after that.

John Cho on 'FlashForward': 'Clues start to trickle in'

Trying to press John Cho to reveal the secrets of ABC’s FlashForward seems to be like asking Sarah Palin what newspapers she reads. He is extremely evasive about the show’s mysteries: “That’s all I can say…I cannot reveal that to you…You will soon know.”

So, what can Cho tell us? The second episode (airing tonight and repeating Friday), “White to Play,” is about a trip to Utah his character Demetri Noh takes with Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) to investigate a clue from Mark’s flash. “A very interesting character is introduced,” Cho says.

Pressed on whether the show will give us some answers soon, he says, “the clues start to trickle in. I know this: we’re going to the date of the flash forward by the end of the season. I don’t know if all the questions will be answered.”

The cast is shooting episode nine now, and Cho says he’s only allowed to read one script ahead, so he’s got some questions remaining himself. Will engaged Demetri tie the knot? Cho – of course – won’t tell us but does say “I can tell you that the fiancé is played by David Hasselhoff.” Sadly, we don’t think that’s a real spoiler.

Demetri saw nothing during the global blackout. So does that mean he’s dead or dreaming or something else? Cho isn’t telling (are you seeing a pattern yet?) but he does enjoy the character’s mysteries. “I thought it put him in a very interesting position. I was intrigued to read the script so I thought the audience would be intrigued.”

Intriguing, yes…but I’m ready for a fast forward of my own so I know what’s going on!

Librarians land BISD atop banned book list

It’s a widely acclaimed book chronicling the lives of Texas high school students that has served as the basis for an equally lauded film and television series. And if you attend any school in the Beaumont Independent School District, you can’t check it out of the library.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas calls that “the most egregious instance of censorship reported last year” in a report on school book bannings that was released this week.

The book is “Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, a Dream,” a 1990 nonfiction book by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger. Bissinger spent an entire year in Odessa following the exploits of the 1988 Permian High School Panthers football team as they headed to the state championship.

The book and its screen adoptions have been noted for their frank portrayals of students’ use of profanity, sexual situations and racism at the school and the wider community.

In February 2008, following a complaint by the parent of a sixth-grader at Odom Academy, a committee of school librarians decided by consensus to remove the two copies of the book at Beaumont schools – the one at Odom and one at Central High School, according to Rosalind Eyre, lead librarian for the district.

God, Karen, you are SO stupid!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Amanda Seyfried thought her boyfriend Dominic Cooper was gay when she met him.

The blonde actress, who has been dating her 'Mamma Mia!' co-star for over a year, initially believed the British hunk wouldn't be interested in her because of his fashion sense.

She said: "It so wasn't instant love. I thought he was gay. I didn't know many Englishmen and it was just the way he dressed - he is quite fashionable.

"Dominic and I split off towards the end of filming a little bit, but it was never anything that was real. It takes time. Life is complicated."

The US-born actress is now convinced British men are sexier than their American counterparts.

She said: "I am going to say something very cliched, but the accent is sexier in Britain. And British men dress so well and have really good manners. Charm is another thing they have - they're good at putting you at ease. You feel like an equal, or at least comfortable.

"Dominic is very charming. That makes it easy for someone to want to be around him."

Amanda is smitten with the 31-year-old actor and is looking forward to starting a family with him soon.

The 23-year-old star added to Britain's InStyle magazine: "I want kids. You don't necessarily need to be married for that. I would love for my parents to have grandchildren and to have a good father for my kids. I want to be with the father of my children."

AOL TV's Interview with Michelle Trachtenberg

AOL TV recently sat down with Michelle Trachtenberg to discuss her new show 'Mercy', 'Gossip Girl', and if she was ever approached to do 'True Blood'...

You may know Michelle Trachtenberg as 'Gossip Girl''s (the CW, Mon., 9PM) resident bad girl, Georgina. But this season Trachtenberg hopes you'll also get to know her as brand-new nurse Chloe on the freshman hospital drama 'Mercy' (NBC, Weds., 8PM).

The busy ingenue found time to dish with AOL TV about how Georgina's like the devil, how Trachtenberg got into the head of good girl Chloe -- and whether she'll revisit her vampire past one way or another (probably not a 'Buffy' movie, but maybe reuniting with Alan Ball for 'True Blood').

Jon Halts Production

(think the nanny wrote the sign?)

Some guy -- we don't know who -- posted a large sign on the entrance gate to the home of Jon and Kate Gosselin in Wernersville, PA. Thursday morning warning TLC to back off.

Jon & Kate Take Another Ratings Dip

The sign reads: "No film crew or production company from TLC is permitted on this property under penelty of trespass."

At the bottom of the sign, it reads: Johnathon Gosselin.

(Note - they misspelled "penalty" and "Jonathon" -- not us.)

Earlier Thursday, RadarOnline.com reported that Jon's attorney via his attorney Mark J. Heller, sent the cable network a pair of letters stating all filming and production crews are heretofore banned from his family's home.

The letters from Jon's attorney to TLC were dated Tuesday, the same day the network announced it was minimizing his role on the show and changing the name to Kate Plus 8.

Lawyer: Jon Ready To Sue Network; Show Never Had Required Permits To Film Kids

Jon now says he believes it is not in the best interest of the children's welfare to continue with production of the show.

Because Amanda Palmer is awesome as fuck and has a valid point

i had two conversations within the last 24 hours which made me feel like blogging about this.
one was with jason webley, who i’ve been living with for the past week in the Middle of Nowhere.

i was writing a press release and in it disclosed how much money i made from the recent london webcast (about 10k).
i gave a copy of the text to jason to proofread over a cup of tea (that’s what rock stars do for each other nowadays instead of leaving lines of blow on the backs of bathroom toilets).
he suggested taking the money part out. he gently advised; he’s heard people gossiping about me and my shameless revelations about my webcast/twitter income etc.

right around the same time i got an email from beth, regarding the future of my webcasting.
she suggested we do something totally free and not ask people for any money.
she’s been picking up on heat from people that the ask-the-fans-for-money thing has gotten out of control.

artists need to make money to eat and to continue to make art.
artists used to rely on middlemen to collect their money on their behalf, thereby rendering themselves innocent of cash-handling in the public eye.

artists will now be coming straight to you (yes YOU, you who want their music, their films, their books) for their paychecks.
please welcome them. please help them. please do not make them feel badly about asking you directly for money.
dead serious: this is the way shit is going to work from now on and it will work best if we all embrace it and don’t fight it.

I would much rather give my money directly to artists over middlemen anyday.

TLC Suspends Show, But Blasts Jon Gosselin's Cease-and-Desist Order

On the heels of news that Jon Gosselin is trying to shut down production of Kate Plus 8, the network that made him famous is firing back with claims that his latest legal move is purely in his own self-interest.

"We are aware of Jon Gosselin's recent statements, and remain deeply disappointed at his continued erratic behavior. He and the family were shooting as recently as last Friday, without incident, and his latest comments are grossly inaccurate, without merit and are clearly opportunistic," TLC said in a statement to PEOPLE. "Despite Jon Gosselin's repeated self destructive and unprofessional actions, he remains under an exclusive contract with TLC. Direct filming of the children has been currently suspended, pending further conversations between both parents."

Jon Gosselin: The Kids Have Been Complaining About TV Cameras

Don't point the finger at Jon Gosselin for all the madness surrounding his attempted shutdown of Jon & Kate Plus 8, his manager says. The fault is with the show – which Gosselin claims is hurting his family.

"Basically we've put a halt on the show," manager Mike Heller tells PEOPLE. "Jon has been talking to TLC for a long time to cut back on the production and still honor his contract – because it's been getting in the way of his family, his children are complaining."

"It's been hurting the relationship that he's trying to reconcile with his wife – he's trying to get back with her as a parent," Heller adds. "They are the mom and dad of their children [but] they talk by text message. He wants to take 90 days."

Future in Question
Gosselin's effort to shut down production has apparently worked, at least temporarily. TLC announced Thursday that it was suspending the show until Jon and Kate Gosselin spoke about the future of the show and raising their kids.

And it's not because, as most people seem to suspect, Jon was angry that he'd been cut out of a leading role in a revamped show that will be titled Kate Plus 8, Heller says.

"People are reporting he was fired. He was never fired. They just changed the name," Heller says. "This is not a ploy – it's an approach that he thinks will help him reconcile with his wife."

Indeed, Heller insists that Jon is intent on putting his life back together on multiple fronts.

'Jon Made Mistakes'
"He's acknowledged he’s made mistakes and shouldn't have been running around. He took advantage of his freedom after he got it. It hurt his reputation," Heller says.

"He's taken responsibility and you don't see him running wild any more. He hasn't been out partying. He's taken a look at his himself in the mirror and he wasn't happy, it's not who he was. He never cheated on his wife. His wife is the one who ended the relationship," he says.

James Franco to join General Hospital

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Golden Globe winner James Franco is joining the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL for a short run. Jillian Michaels tweeted about it on Monday which immediately made soap fans think they were being Muhney'd again but it looks like this one is true. Steve Burton confirmed on his own Twitter account last night. When asked if Franco is joining and Vanessa Marcil is returning to GH, Burton responded: "Franco is..dont know about Vanessa."

ABC Soaps in Depth has added more information on their website: "We hear that Franco will work a few days a week on the GH set, taping several shows a day. A source says that Franco 'wants to do everything' and would take on his GH role as research for an upcoming film project."

I don't get this. Soaps are in crisis right now and are going through massive budget cuts, yet they hire a famous film actor? Can they even afford him? Or is Franco doing this on the cheap since he's "doing research"?

Quentin Intends To Make Kill Bill 3 in the next few years

BadTaste.it alerted us that Quentin Tarantino announced he intends to make Kill Bill 3 in the next few years during "Parla con Me," an Italian talk show. He again says that he wants a 10 year break in between when the second one came out and when the third comes out, so that would be 2014. The 10 year time frame is because he wanted The Bride to have a break after everything she went through.

You can check out what he says starting at the 5:55 minute mark (it's a bit hard to hear because of the Italian translator).

Defense strategies could keep Polanski out of prison

Roman Polanski rushed up to the British Airways counter at LAX in late January 1978 with an American Express card and an urgent desire to get out of town. He bought the last seat on an overnight flight to London and 15 minutes later, he wrote in his autobiography, watched Los Angeles gradually disappear out a jet window.

The criminal case that Polanski was fleeing never went away, as his recent arrest in Zurich attests. But how a Los Angeles court would restart the case if Switzerland extradites the film director, 76, is a question complicated by the passage of decades and recent allegations of judicial misconduct.

The district attorney's office contends the yellowing case file only needs dusting off and proceedings should pick up exactly where they left off in 1978 -- with a judge sentencing Polanski for a statutory rape charge. "He will appear before the court and the court will decide what his sentence is," said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.

Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi Is Pregnant!

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi is pregnant, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com exclusively.

"Model, author, and Emmy-nominated Padma Lakshmi confirms that she is carrying her first child after years of struggling with endometriosis, a cause for which she has co-founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America," the rep tells Us of Lakshmi, 39.

"As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle, and due to its delicate nature, we ask/implore the press to respect Ms. Lakshmi's privacy at this time," the rep continues.

Endometriosis is a medical condition in which the uterus' lining grows in other areas of the body, causing pain, irregular bleeding and possible infertility.

The baby's father has not been revealed. Online reports have speculated Manu Nathan is the dad, but her rep denies that, telling Us he's Lakshmi's cousin.

Lakshmi split from novelist Salman Rushdie in 2007 after three years of marriage.

She won the Best First Book award for her first cookbook, Easy Exotic, at the 1999 World Cookbook Awards in Versailles, France. Her second cook book, Tangy, Tart, Hot and Sweet, was released in October 2007.

Christina Aguilera on Project Runway

Here is your first look at Christina Aguilera standing next to host Heidi Klum on the October 15 episode of Project Runway.

Access Hollywood confirms the 28-year-old singer will be a guest judge for the episode.

The sixth season of Project Runway – finally out of the courts and moving to Los Angeles when it premieres on Lifetime August 20 – will lose no time amping up the Hollywood glam factor. For one of the show’s biggest challenges, the designers will have to work their magic on powerhouse pop diva Christina Aguilera and designer Bob Mackie, the so-called Sultan of Sequins, and make a costume for Aguilera to wear in concert.

“The contestants were beside themselves when they heard who they were designing for,” Runway executive producer Jane Cha tells TVGuideMagazine.com. "They couldn’t believe it was Christina. And they really had to think about it, because costuming is not their forte."

Was Aguilera pleased with her new garments? "She was really happy with the results," says Cha.

The Grammy Award-winning diva is the latest A-lister to appear on the sixth season of Runway, following guest judging appearances by Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson, Rebecca Romijn, and Eva Longoria Parker.

Project Runway airs @ 10PM ET/PT on Lifetime on Thursdays.

Eve Ensler talks about Polanski...

Does the Brotherhood of Fame Endow You With a Lifetime Exemption From Accountability?

When I saw the petition protesting the recent arrest of Roman Polanski in Switzerland was signed by some of my most cherished artists -- the likes of Pedro Almodovar, Ariel Dorfman, Costa Gavras, Jonathan Demme, Sam Mendes -- men who I believed to be champions of women's and human rights, frankly, I was shocked. It made it distressingly clear to me that all our years of work have not yet penetrated or changed the culture so that it understands that rape is a legal crime and a crime against the soul. As a survivor, I can attest to the fact that rape forever changes your life, robbing you of dignity, self-worth, agency over your body, and comfortability with intimacy and trust, while also escalating a pervasive sense of isolation and shame.

After 11 years of traveling the world and meeting with rape survivors across the planet I can say that the long-term consequences are multiple and far-reaching, ranging from homelessness, drug abuse, and eating disorders, to imprisonment, suicide, and early death.

The petition defending Polanski doesn't even address his crime. Instead, it calls it a "case of morals." That expression -- a "case of morals" -- takes the anti-violence movement back about a hundred years. Rape is not a question of morals. In fact it's not even a question.

Let's review the facts:

1. A 13-year-old girl is lured to a house by promise of a job by a famous and powerful director.

2. She finds herself in a hot tub.

3. She has an asthma attack.

4. The director says he will help relieve her asthma attack and offers her (unbeknownst to her) half a Quaalude as a remedy.

5. Once the Quaalude takes effect and the girl is sufficiently pliant, he rapes and sodomizes her without consent.

6. When charges are pressed, the director later pleads guilty to "engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor."

7. After spending 42 days in prison, the director flees the United States to avoid the threat of further imprisonment.

What about this clear-cut case isn't criminal? Does Roman Polanski's undeniable brilliance as a filmmaker somehow not make him a rapist? Does his talent give license to violence? Does the brotherhood of fame endow you with a lifetime exemption from accountability?

No one is arguing the genius of Roman Polanski, or even the pain and tragedy of his difficult life. But in the end, that has nothing to do with the crime he committed. Being an artist does not make any of us exempt from the laws of humanity -- in fact, it actually makes us more responsible to them.

I love Eve Ensler sfm. I think this pretty much sums up how I feel about it all. Though I'm not boycotting Polanski's work or the work of anyone supporting him like some of you crazies. Salon.com also has an amazing piece on Polanski that I think everyone should read.<input ... ></input><input ... >

Ricci's "All's Faire in Love" Screenings Begin

About 50 people herded into a special events tent on the grounds of the Michigan Renaissance Festival Wednesday night for the first public premiere of "All's Faire in Love," which was shot on location in 2008.

Audience members, who were mostly Renaissance Festival staff, laughed along with the romantic-comedy as many of them caught glimpses off themselves in shots of the flick. The crowd erupted in applause at film's end.

"All's Faire in Love," stars Christina Ricci and Owen Benjamin as Renaissance Festival actors, who rival with another team of festival actors in everyday event activities.

Screenings began Wednesday night and will continue through Oct. 7. Tickets range from $5-7.50. Parking is free.

"We didn't make 'Gone With the Wind,' it's just a fun comedy," said producer Scott Reed, who attended Wednesday's screening and will be on site for weekend showings. "But that's all it's supposed to be.

"It's a great way to spend two hours."

Reed said the film's theatrical release will depend on how well it's received in public screenings in Michigan and in other Renaissance Festival's across the nation.

“All’s Faire in Love” showtimes:
Thursday and Friday: 6:30 and 9 p.m
Saturday and Sunday: 8:30 p.m.
Oct. 5-7: 6:30 and 9 p.m.
Details: Screenings are at the Michigan Renaissance Festival, 12500 Dixie Hwy. in Holly. Tickets range from $5-7.50

This is relevant to my interests, as it was filmed at my local RenFest. I'm going to attempt to go to one of the screenings and see if I can pick out people I know. I don't think I made it in, they filmed on weeks I didn't go. Of course.

Bradley Cooper a.k.a. VGBB Talks About Alcohol,Tumors,Shrinks, & Tobacco

IN “THE HANGOVER,” BRADLEY COOPER plays Phil, the slickest of the trio, not J the swellest of guys, a teacher who swipes gambling money from his students. On a recent Thursday morning in New York, Cooper is found standing on a street corner, deep in head-to-head conversation with acclaimed actress Meg Ryan, and immediately we are impressed. “Yeah, you know, hanging out with Meg, shooting the shit with Meg,” he says a few minutes later, plumping himself genially. Cooper’s a good-looking, easygoing guy, with a rakish jaw line, mellow blue eyes, a nice whip of movie-star hair and a luxuriant amount of chin stubble. Biographically, he’s been around show business since 1999, getting his start with a small part in Sex and the City. He’s appeared in a whole bunch of movies, like Wet Hot American Summer, Yes Man and He’s Just Not That Into You. And he did such a convincing job playing a jerk in Wedding Crashers that, honestly, we think Cooper must be a jerk too.

We approach him gingerly, going for the basics. He grew up in Philadelphia, the son of a Merrill Lynch stockbroker, whom he went to kindergarten dressed like, in a suit, carrying a briefcase. In high school, he dated the best-looking girl in the class. In college, at Georgetown, he was an English major who wrote his thesis on Nabokov’s Lolita. He was once married for four months, to the actress Jennifer Esposito, about which he won’t say a damn thing. He has been linked to Cameron Diaz, about which he will only say, stonily, “I’m lucky to know her.” Also, he once promoted Coop as a nickname for himself, but it didn’t take. And, finally, he doesn’t drink.

I haven’t had a drink in five years,” he says. “And I loved to drink. But then I had to give it up, goddamn it. I mean, unfortunately, those days are over.” He doesn’t say why, exactly, but a bit later he tells a story about how he got six scars on his head. “Now this one,” he says, pointing it out, “I was at a Christmas party, dancing to Marilyn Manson’s ‘The Beautiful People,’ and thought it’d be a cool idea to show how I’m able to bash my head against the concrete floor. I did it, came up, blood went down my face, I laughed, and did it again. Yeah, I had a couple of drinks in me, for sure.”

Given all that, if you went to Vegas with Cooper, you might think about ditching him at the slots first thing. He is, after all, a guy who blow-dries his ears — not because he wants to, but because he has to. “I had a tumor in my eardrum when I was born, so if any water gets in my ear, I get an infection,” he says, “which means, after I go to the gym, I have to blow-dry my ears.”

The only problem is, Cooper quit the stuff. But if he starts again, he’ll be our first Vegas choice. And we’ll call him Coop

Conversely, we are impressed by the fact that he loves going to shrinks (”I love it. I can’t get enough of it. Party!”). But what really makes us think he would make a fine Vegas companion? He was once a big chewing-tobacco advocate and still believes that no matter what they say, chicks dig it.

“Yup, in some sick way, I actually think girls like it, like deep down they’re going, ‘What a man,’” he says. “I remember talking to Scarlett Johansson once, and I had a spit cup, and there’d be saliva running down my lip to the cup, and she was like, Are you kidding me?’ and I was like, ‘What? What?’”

Jon Gosselin: I'm Not Being Spiteful

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Don't point the finger at Jon Gosselin for all the madness surrounding his attempted shutdown of Jon & Kate Plus 8, his manager says. The fault, claims the rep, is with the show – which Gosselin says is now hurting his family – even though Jon and the kids were happily filming just six days ago.

"Basically we've put a halt on the show," manager Mike Heller tells PEOPLE. "Jon has been talking to TLC for a long time to cut back on the production and still honor his contract – because it's been getting in the way of his family, his children are complaining."

"It's been hurting the relationship that he's trying to reconcile with his wife – he's trying to get back with her as a parent,"
Heller adds. "They are the mom and dad of their children [but] they talk by text message. He wants to take 90 days."

Three Bravo stars get solo series

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bravo is developing three new projects starring some of the cabler's recent breakout reality stars: Bethenny Frankel, Christian Siriano and Fabio Viviani.

All three reality vets will star in docuseries that focus on their lives and careers, according to Bravo exec VP/general manager Frances Berwick.

The untitled show starring Frankel, from the channel's "The Real Housewives of New York City," will showcase her career as a natural foods chef, as well as the Gotham socialite's love life.

The flamboyant Siriano, who won season four of "Project Runway" (back when the show still aired on Bravo), will be featured in his show as he sets up a new shop and markets his clothing line.

Viviani will star in "Fabio: A Catered Affair," which will chronicle the challenges he faces as he and business partner Jacopo Falleni look to expand their restaurant and catering business in Los Angeles. Viviani was a "Top Chef" finalist in season five.

Magical Elves, which produces "Top Chef" and formerly produced "Project Runway" (including Siriano's season), will produce the "Fabio" and Siriano projects. Shed Media U.S., which produces "The Real Housewives of New York City," is behind the Frankel project.

Spencer Pratt: Heidi Won't Tell Me When She Goes Off Birth Control

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Four months into their marriage, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are already having some woes.

On The View Thursday, he said he won't sleep with his wife because she keeps trying to get pregnant.

"She [says] she is not going to tell me she is going to go off her birth control," Pratt, 26, said on The View Thursday.

Not sleeping with her is "the only thing I can think of in my defense," he said.

Montag, 23, insisted she isn't intentionally forgetting to tell him.

"I would tell him the truth, but sometimes mistakes happen," she said. "Sometimes you accidentally miss one. It happens."

Montag said she wants kids "sooner than later," adding, "My mom was a young mom."

But Pratt is so adamant about not wanting them, "He says he wants surgery," Heidi said.

She said he "joked" about not wanting kids before they got married, but she never took him seriously.

"I thought we would get married and then go to that hurdle -- marriage and then kids at the same time," she said.

She said "it's only four months. We're supposed to be in the honeymoon phase."

Kate Gosselin: I'm "Saddened and Confused" by Jon's Actions

Kate Gosselin is slamming estranged husband Jon for trying to halt production of her TLC show, Kate Plus 8.

"I'm saddened and confused by Jon's public media statements," the reality TV mom, 34, says in a statement. "Jon has never expressed any concerns to me about our children being involved in the show and, in fact, is on the record as saying he believes the show benefits our children and was taping on Friday with the kids.

"I check in regularly with each of the kids to be sure they want to participate in and continue with the show and will continue to do so. I do the show for my family because I believe it provides us opportunities we wouldn't otherwise have," she continues.

"Jon used to share that belief until as recently as the day the network announced the name change of the show and indicated that Jon would have a lesser role in the show," her statement concludes. "It appears that Jon's priority is Jon and his interests. My priority remains our children and their well being."

TLC also slammed Jon, 32, saying that his latest comments that his eight kids are suffering as a result of the show "are grossly inaccurate, without merit and are clearly opportunistic."

The show has been suspended, the network said, pending further conversations between both parents.

BREAKING NEWS: Kanye/Gaga "Fame Kills" Tour is canceled!

Kanye West and Lady Gaga have officially canceled their tour "Fame Kills".

Kanye West and Lady Gaga tour canceled

NEW YORK — Kanye West and Lady Gaga's tour is over before it began.

Just days after announcing dates for an ambitious tour that was to kick off next month, the tour was canceled.

Live Nation announced the news on Thursday. The tour promoter says refunds will be issued.

The name of the tour was to be "Fame Kills."

The cancellation comes on the heels of negative publicity for West. He is still feeling the heat for hijacking Taylor Swift's award-winning moment at the MTV Video Music Awards last month.

Seriously you guys, my man-ovaries ache for him! There is a nasty pic of Alex after he's cursed and a boring one not worth reposting of Vanessa H-ugh-dgens at the source.

Britney Spears Buys a Parakeet

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Britney Spears had quite the busy week.

After wrapping up the North American leg of her tour with two concerts in Las Vegas over the weekend, the singer debuted her new single, "3," on radio station Z100 Tuesday morning.

But that wasn't enough excitement for her: On Wednesday, Spears purchased a pet parakeet.

During a trip to the California Pet Center near Calabasas, Calif., the singer decided to procure a pet. "Britney had just picked up some dog food when she spotted the parakeets and decided to buy one," an eyewitness tells PEOPLEPets.com. "She settled on a yellow parakeet and bought a big, white cage and several toys for the bird."

TBH, I love Britney. . .but I just thought it was funny that people found this newsworthy.

Lady Love Post

Capitol Records has snatched support for Lady Love right out from under LeToya Luckett, and her fans ain’t having it!

"We, the fans and supporters of LeToya Luckett are EXTREMELY disappointed at the way the entire Lady Love project has been handled thus far,” fans wrote in this online petition. “We believe that she has proven she is more than deserving of the same promotion her label mates have received e.g. Katy Perry.”

However, they acknowledge that singles off of Lady Love haven’t exactly been performing to expectations, but they say the problem is only compounded by poor promotion.

Supporters are basing their request on LeToya’s newest single, “Regret,” which feature Ludacris. The petition writers also claim fane have “pushed the song into an enviable top 20 position,” but they fail to mention which chart that would be on. Bottom line: They think it shows promise for being LeToya’s next big hit, and we agree. The song is hot and Ludacris is just icing on the cake.

So what are they demanding from Capitol/EMI?

“We ask that you provide LeToya with, at the very least, the same promotion that her debut album received, an official add date for "Regret" to build upon its already strong airplay performance,” supporters requested.

They’re also looking for the label to give LeToya a better budget fitting her track record so that a video for “Regret” can be released. At press time there were only 294 signatures, but you can add your name to the list here.

Smit-McPhee, Moretz and Jenkins Cast In 'Let Me In'

Almost a year ago to the day I asked Who's the Next Big Male Movie Star? and along with names like Emile Hirsch, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shia LaBeouf I included the possibility of then 12-year-old Kodi Smit-McPhee as he was just about to have his coming out party with John Hillcoat's The Road. As it turns out, it's a year later and we are in the exact same position as The Road is finally making its way to theaters on November 25, but the buzz on McPhee hasn't slowed down and he is now set to become even more of a potential star — at least among those in the online world.

As if starring in a post-apocalyptic feature wasn't enough, The Hollywood Reporter now confirms Smit-McPhee is set to star as Owen, the young boy at the center of Let Me In, the English-language remake of Swedish horror movie Let the Right One In for Cloverfield director Matt Reeves and Overture Films.

Alongside him will be Chloe Moretz playing the part of Abby, the role originated by Lina Leandersson in the original and a performance many lauded from all corners of the globe. Finally, Richard Jenkins (The Visitor) is also aboard playing Abby's adult ward, the character you will remember as Hakan from the original.

The film follows an overlooked and bullied boy named Owen who finds love and revenge through Abby, a beautiful but peculiar girl with the weight of the world on her shoulder who turns out to be a vampire.

Many may have seen the title Fish Head used for this remake, but don't get worried that's not the title as confirmed by production company Hammer Films, listing the film as Let Me In on their official site. Assumptions lead me to believe this is simply the shooting title similar to how Reeves used such shooting titles as Slusho, Monstrous and even Cheese when shooting Cloverfield.

Principal photography on the remake begins this fall in New Mexico for a planned 2010 release.

For those interested and curious, Chloe Moretz was last seen as Rachel in 500 Days of Summer and will star as Hit Girl in Matthew Vaughn's April 2010 release Kick-Ass, which you can see her in character right here.

Not-A-Saint Sara Speaks the Gospel

Tegan and Sara's Sara Quin Strives Toward 'Sainthood'

I'm not a saint," Sara Quin tells Spinner, but this half of
Tegan and Sara is immensely interested in what that concept means, thanks to a fellow Canadian, Leonard Cohen. The twin sister duo releases its sixth album, 'Sainthood,' on Oct. 27. Again produced by Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, the record takes its title from Cohen's 'Came So Far for Beauty.'

Inspired by the poet laureate of her native land, Quin delves deeply into what it means to "practice sainthood" on the new album. What does it mean to be a saint? Spinner asked Quin and happily got a lot more than we bargained for as Quin opened up about relationships, her admiration for
Beth Ditto and Ani DiFranco, the ways in which she and her sister deal with homophobia as lesbians, and how Tegan and Sara's whole career has emulated Neil Young's after they toured with him at age 19.

What does practicing sainthood mean to you?

The line came from a Leonard Cohen song, actually: "I practiced all my sainthood." And I loved this idea that this behavior of being devout to someone was something you had to practice. And also I loved that it's something you can do to win somebody's affection or forgiveness or whatever. It was really influential and it articulated something, at least for me, in my life that was happening and in turn writing songs about.

You can't really go wrong with being inspired by Leonard Cohen.

He truly is an incredible lyricist. The song that line comes from, 'Came So Far for Beauty,' every lyric resonated so much with me. And there are these moments where you hit on something like that where you just think, "I'm never going to write something as beautiful and so simple, yet that just resonates." It's something to aim for, to be so incredibly poetic and beautiful.

Sainthood is typically seen as this global, Mother Theresa, Gandhi thing. And what you're talking about, though, seems to be on the personal level.

Oh, absolutely. This isn't about thinking you're a saint; it's the behavior of someone who is, I guess, delusional, that you would change everything about yourself in order to win the affections or forgiveness of someone who you were devoted to. You know it doesn't make sense or it's not reciprocated or whatever. Or forget love or romance. It's so easy to be bad or to be dishonest. I think it's so much more work to be saintly, to be good.

Hulu To Live Stream Austin City Limits Festival

Music fans, take note: Starting this Friday, October 2, Hulu will be streaming the legendary Austin City Limits Music Festival live from Austin’s Zilker Park. The live stream begins at 2 p.m. EDT (11 a.m. PDT) Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And if you want to catch some of your favorite acts again, tune back in on Monday, October 5 at 9 p.m. EDT as Hulu streams a highlight show with the festival’s biggest headliners. (We’ll post a list of the performances each day of the live stream.)

This year’s lineup is impressive. Those who enjoyed the Dave Matthews Band’s live performance from the Beacon Theatre on Hulu in June will get to see the boys again. For White Stripes/Raconteurs fans, ACL will host the sounds of the new super-group The Dead Weather, featuring The White Stripes’ Jack White and The Kills’ Alison Mosshart. And one of my favorite guitarists of all time, Ben Harper, brings his new band, the Relentless7, to Austin to perform songs from their new album, “White Lies for Dark Times.”

Those of you who are into neo-soul will get to boogie down to John Legend (who recently killed it at L.A.’s Greek Theatre) and Raphael Saadiq. On the hip-hop side, there’s the always-catchy sibling act The Knux (whose album “Remind Me in 3 Days…” is on repeat in my household), and the party continues with the groove-tacular Thievery Corporation. For something more mellow, you can catch sets from the brooding indie singer-songwriters Bon Iver and Andrew Bird. Finally, if you love jazz improvisation as much as I do, you can’t miss Medeski Martin & Wood.

With more than 20 acts to be broadcast over three days — plus Monday’s highlights show — Hulu and Austin City Limits have teamed up to bring something for everyone. If you’re heading to Texas Hill Country to attend in person, Godspeed, but for everyone else this weekend, fire up Hulu and get ready to rock and roll.

michael jackson was healthy

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson's arms were covered with punctures, his face and neck were scarred and he had tattooed eyebrows and lips, but he wasn't the sickly skeleton of a man portrayed by tabloids, according to his autopsy report obtained by The Associated Press.

In fact, the Los Angeles County coroner's report shows Jackson was a fairly healthy 50-year-old before he died of an overdose. His 136 pounds were in the acceptable range for a 5-foot-9 man. His heart was strong with no sign of plaque buildup. And his kidneys and most other major organs were normal.

Controversial South African Ad Melds Hitler And James Dean

South Africa's CNA Stores decided having just one celebrity's image on their latest ad was just not enough. Instead, as AdFreak reports, they decided to meld the faces of Adolf Hitler and James Dean into a disturbing image that graces some of their new ad materials

If you can believe it, CNA's Hitler-Dean ad is actually just the first in a series. Also, in the campaign are ads that combine the faces of John Lennon and Albert Einstein (John Einstein); Prince Charles and Buddy Holly (Prince Holly); Queen Elizabeth II and Mother Teresa (Queen Teresa); and Bill Gates and Elvis Presley. Finally, there's our personal favorite, a mash-up of Elvis Presley and Bill Gates (Bill Presley).

The ad is sure to generate its share of outrage - and it's actually not the first Hitler-Dean spot. AdFreak put it this way: "Advertolog credits the work to ad agency Jupiter Drawing Room (Jhb), which should be getting outraged calls any minute, if past reaction to Hitler-themed ads is any indication."

AdFreak has a gallery of all of the portraits here.

This is the trailer for the Death Bell, a 2008 Korean horror film directed by first timer Yoon Hong-Seung. It hits theaters Friday and OnDemand today, courtesy of IFC Films. Madonna On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Tells Kanye To Put A Lid On It

Madonna had all sorts of things to say on radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday (October 1).

Here’s what the 51-year-old Material Mom had to say while being flirted with by Seacrest:

On 34-year-old Ryan Seacrest being a suitor for her: “Honey, you’re kind of old for me (laughs).”

On how young she likes her guys: “You have to be old enough to dress yourself… Younger people are generally more adventurous - they’re more open, more fun - have you met many guys my age? Guys my age are married or divorced or grumpy, fat and balding.”

On her self-image: “My body is part of my job. If I’m not in good shape, then how can I dance around on stage with my butt hanging out, right? I look in the mirror and go ‘hmm-mm. Less cake, more work.’”

On Kanye West: “Yeah, he’s a bit impulsive. I would’ve given him a good talking to. He needs to put a lid on it. I do think he’s very talented but he gets confused sometimes.”

On having famous guests at her concerts: “I was getting super-sharp looks from [Jennifer Lopez]. Her ponytail distracted me. Whenever artists come to see my show, they’re studying me.”

On how her music will be impacted by her new life: “It just means it’s gonna get better ’cause I’m happier.”

On getting married again: “I think I’d rather get run over by a train.” (She actually said this on Letterman last night.)

5 Reasons Against a Ramones Biopic

After hearing the recent news of a Fox Searchlight deal to produce a feature film about the Ramones -- based on the memoir I Slept with Joey Ramone, written by Joey's brother Mickey Leigh and former SPIN staffer Legs McNeil, set to be published in December by Simon & Schuster's Fireside imprint -- the only appropriate reaction by any semi-sane fan of the punk icons had to be OH MY GAWWWWD NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Hollywood's virtually spotless record of churning out cheeseball music biopic atrocities has done as much or more irreparable damage to the reputation of the pop recording industry as collegiate file-sharing and illegal downloading combined. Entire generations of kids are now too horribly embarrassed to listen to the Doors after witnessing Val Kilmer's desert peyote scene in Oliver Stone's 1991 wankorama about the Lizard King, et al. (the most they can risk is Jay-Z's "Takeover"). And that was just one of far too many execrably misguided music biopic moments. Sure, there have been a handful of worthy efforts (I'm Not There, Bound for Glory, Coal Miner's Daughter, parts of Control), but they're by far the glaring exception.

SMALLVILLE: Meet Metallo

Brian Austin Green is a really mean machine on Smallville (Oct. 2 8/7c, CW).
In Friday's episode, poor John Corbin (Green) gets mowed over by a bus. Cue the creation of Metallo, the iconic DC super villain who has it out for the Blur, aka Clark Kent (Tom Welling). Metropolis and its residents, especially Lois Lane (Erica Durance), aren't safe with him on the streets.
Green graciously talked with us about all things Metallo, including who built him, why he hates the Blur and whether he'll return later this season.
TVGuide.com: Tell us about John Corbin's big change into Metallo.
Green: It's an unwelcome one. It's not something that he asks for. As you see, the man steps off a curb and wakes up being who he is. There's a part of him that enjoys it and realizes that he can use it to the best of his abilities and use it to accomplish what he wants, but at the same time, it's probably not the happiest thing being Kryptonite-powered and robotic. It's not what he asked for, and I think there's a lot of anger that comes with that.

TVGuide.com: What is Zod's involvement with Corbin's transformation into Metallo?
Green: As of right now, I have no idea. I don't know who's responsible for it completely. There's been a bit of a tease that he was involved, but I don't know for sure.
TVGuide.com: Why was Metallo built?
Green: I think he was built because there was that initial despise of the Blur to begin with that somebody knew about. At the same time, there was this technology that they were figuring out and making sense of, so it seemed like the perfect fit. He's the perfect guinea pig for that kind of experiment, with his hatred of the Blur and his past experience of him.
TVGuide.com: Why is he going after the Blur?
Green: Because of his sister, the loss of his sister. He's driven by this anger of 'Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to control people's lives and change their fates?' For him, this is the man who carries the world on his shoulders, but he doesn't think he has the right to, and he's not really trained for the job. It's because of him, at least to John, that his sister is gone. His sister was his world.

TVGuide.com: There's some flirtation with John and Lois. Do you come between Lois and Clark?
Green: I don't think anything will come between Lois and Clark ever.
TVGuide.com: Have the producers hinted at a return for Metallo later this season?
Green: No. I'm figuring that they're waiting until this next episode airs to see if people actually like the character or not. They kicked around ideas when I was shooting it, but it's completely up in the air at this point. Who knows, it could happen.
TVGuide.com: Would you like to come back?
Green: Absolutely, I'd love to. I had a great time working on the show and playing the character. The only thing that was really a pain in the a-- ultimately was just the prosthetics. It was four hours of makeup everyday and an hour of taking it off. It was ultimately really worth it.
Are you excited to see Metallo come alive on-screen?

BEYONCE: The Billboard Cover Story

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

ans are still getting to know Sasha Fierce, Beyoncé's musical alter ego, formally introduced on the singer's 2008 album, "I Am...Sasha Fierce."

Most probably don't know, however, that the singer/songwriter has been friends with Fierce since elementary school.

Manager and father Mathew Knowles will never forget the moment he first met Fierce. A 7-year-old Beyoncé was entered in a talent search open to Houston elementary and middle school students. The song she sang? John Lennon's "Imagine." "Beyoncé was the youngest," Knowles says. "She got up onstage and when she was finished, she received a standing ovation. Her mother [Tina Knowles] and I looked at each other and said, 'That can't be our Beyoncé. She's shy and quiet.' "

Twenty-two years later, that simmering brew of shy, quiet talent peppered with fierce determination and ambition is at a boiling point. The former frontwoman of Destiny's Child has come into her own, enjoying one of the best years of a still-evolving solo career.

On Oct. 2, Beyoncé will add one more honor to her array of accolades when she accepts Billboard's Woman of the Year Award. The presentation will be made at Billboard's Women in Music brunch in New York, recognizing the year's top 30 women in the music business.

“A Serious Man” vs. “A Single Man” vs. “Solitary Man”: A User’s Guide

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tomorrow, prolific filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen will release their fourteenth film, a dark comedy about a frazzled physics professor, played by Michael Stuhlbarg, whose life is falling apart. Well-reviewed by critics, the personal film looks like a strong contender come awards season — if it isn’t felled by what I like to call the “Good German Shepherd” Syndrome, a.k.a. the process of unwittingly releasing thematically different, but similarly titled movies too close to each other.

Rihanna’s Stylist On Her Fashion Forecast

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
You've seen her transform from Island Princess to pop sensation, an avant garde fashion icon for her generation. Rihanna, despite the drama, is a true Style Star.

RadarOnline.com got a chance to speak with the woman behind her image, stylist extraordinaire Mariel Haenn, who has created singular looks for the likes of Riri, Ciara, Jay-Z and Jada Pinkett.

Haenn gave us some insight on what to expect from Rihanna as she prepares to release her follow up record to the smash Good Girl Gone Bad, not to mention her first foray after Chris Brown.

"It's definitely going to be Rihanna in the raw state we've seen her in lately," Haenn says of the album artwork, shooting next week in Berlin.

"Though she's an icon right now, this crazy super glam, we're going to see her being real--human."

While naturally details are mum on the goods RIhanna will be sporting, Haenn is jetting off to Paris for Fashion Week with Ri, where the two will draw inspiration from Spring 2010 collections. (Hint: both the gals love Gareth Pugh).

When Rihanna is off the clock, strength is a central theme in both her style and her personal life.

"She hates too soft and girly," Heann says, "she still plays with her girly side, but there's always a tough piece somewhere, with edge."

Oct 1, 2009, 09:40 PM ET

SYDNEY -- HBO is teaming up with the Australian Broadcasting Corp. and the BBC to co-produce a new 12-part series, "Angry Boys," from Australian satirist Chris Lilley, the creator of hit mockumentary series "Summer Heights High" and "We Can Be Heroes."

It's the first time HBO has co-produced a show with Australian partners and is the first pick-up of an Aussie comedy series by international broadcasters, ahead of the show's production.

Announcing the series Friday, Sue Naegle, HBO Entertainment president, said "Chris Lilley combines a wicked sense of humor with fearless insights into human nature, which gives his comedy a universal appeal. We were thrilled to share 'Summer Heights High' with the U.S. audience and are sure that 'Angry Boys' will connect with our subscribers and the media."

ABC head of content creation Courtney Gibson added, "Once again Chris is pushing comedy and character somewhere really challenging and ambitious."

"Angry Boys" will be produced by Lilley and partner Laura Waters through their production shingle Princess Pictures. Exploring what it means to be a 21st century boy by putting males under the microscope, "Angry Boys" will be made in Lilley's signature mock documentary style with Lilley again expected to play a range of characters. It starts production in Australia on Oct. 5 and will be shot in several overseas locations.

In 2007, "Summer Heights High" screened on the ABC in Australia to phenomenal success, with a peak audience of 1.5 million and a 33.5% share. It subsequently screened on HBO and the BBC, sold to dozens of territories, and has become the top-selling comedy DVD here.

Roman Polanski thriller The Ghost in jeopardy after director's arrest

One of next year’s most eagerly anticipated films, a star-studded thriller featuring a thinly disguised version of Tony Blair, is in jeopardy because of the arrest of Roman Polanski.

The Oscar-winning director had recently finished filming The Ghost, his adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name starring Pierce Brosnan. But the film is without a musical score and needs sound mixing and extra dialogue before a distributor can be found.
With Polanski, who is in Switzerland, awaiting extradition proceedings to the US for having sex with a 13-year-old girl, there are fears that the negative publicity will ruin the film’s chances at the box office.
