American Idol Alum Justin Guarini to Wed This Weekend

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Justin Guarini, runner-up to Kelly Clarkson in the first season of American Idol, is getting hitched.

The singer, 30, is set to wed fiancee Reina Capodici Saturday on a private estate along the Delaware River near both their families' homes in Pennsylvania, has learned.

Instead of traditional wedding music, special arrangements by the Vitamin String Quartet, featuring artists like Radiohead, Paramore and Peter Gabriel, will be performed.

A female minister from the Universal Church will preside over the ceremony.

The couple also have written their own vows for the "spiritual" service.

The two have know each other since high school, but only started dating a few years ago.

They decided to get married in last December when Guarini was in Florida at Disney's EPCOT Center filming his "hosting clips" for the "American Idol Experience" ride.

Capodici, 27, has a 4-year old daughter, Lola, from a previous relationship.

Joining her?

Her half-sister Chynna.

Still no word on whether the two will interact.

On Wednesday's show, Mackenzie opened up about her affair with her father. She said she became pregnant and didn't know who had fathered the child. So she had an abortion, which her father paid for, "and I never let him touch me again."

In the new Us Weekly (on newsstands now), Chynna gives her side of her sister's sad story.

She says the news sent her into "a deep, deep sadness and depression for about 10 days. A part of me died when I found out."

Kirk Cameron Stands Behind Controversial Darwin Statements

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
He's used to getting love letters and high-fives as a former teen heartthrob, but onetime Growing Pains actor Kirk Cameron isn't letting the mockery and criticism dissuade him from promoting his controversial project to dispute evolutionary theory.

"Atheism has been on the rise for years now, and the Bible of the atheists is The Origin of Species," Cameron tells PEOPLE. "We have a situation in our country where young people are entering college with a belief in God and exiting with that faith being stripped and shredded. What we want to do is have student make an informed, educated decision before they chuck their faith."

So what is the plan that Cameron, 38, has hatched to supposedly save the souls of freshmen around the country?

He and other creationists have created thousands of editions of Charles Darwin's landmark work explaining evolutionary theory, with a 50-page introduction that picks apart aspects of Darwin's work and try to link it to everything from Nazi eugenics to the scientist's alleged "disdain for women."

Distributing Books
On Nov. 19, three days before the 150th anniversary of the original publication of Origin of Species, Cameron and other religious activists will distribute their books at "the top 50" universities around the country.

An online video of Cameron describing his theory – and his controversial beliefs – has been circulated wildly across the Internet, where it has also inspired many many counterarguments and spoof videos.

But then, speaking out about his faith is nothing new for Cameron, who has been doing it since finding God 20 years ago during the height of his fame as wise-cracking Mike Seaver on the long-running ABC sitcom Growing Pains. Cameron has made a cottage industry out of starring in films that cater to evangelicals, such as the Left Behind series and Fireproof.

MJ hailed Hitler as a ‘genius’ in lost tape

MICHAEL Jackson praised the showmanship of HITLER - describing him in a bombshell taped interview as a "genius". Jackson was also convinced he could have got rid of the Fuhrer's evil. His amazing claims - made to a RABBI - are revealed for the first time as The Sun today lifts the lid on a sensational series of recorded conversations between the two friends.

Jacko told close pal Rabbi Shmuley Boteach: "Hitler was a genius orator.

"To make that many people turn and change and hate, he had to be a showman and he was."

The rabbi put it to the singer, who died of heart failure in June aged 50: "You believe that if you had an hour with Hitler you could somehow touch something inside of him?"

Jackson declared: "Absolutely. I know I could." He insisted nobody was all evil, explaining:

"You have to help them, give them therapy, teach them that somewhere, something in their life went wrong."

The Jewish holyman, 42 - a rabbi at Oxford University for 11 years - taped more than 30 hours of interviews with the star.

wtf, why is shmuley being a mediawhore and exploiting his 'friend'? :(

Britney Custody Order Extended

Britney Spears will share 50/50 custody with Kevin Federline at least through the end of the year -- TMZ has learned.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

An L.A. County Superior Court judge extended the order that was initially put in place for Britney's concert tour. Under the terms, Britney gets to travel with Sean Preston and Jayden James and must provide K-Fed with a place to stay if he wants to follow them on tour.

Sources tell us the sealed order is very detailed, but Britney gets minimum 50/50 custody and at times even more.

As for Kevin, in addition to the $20,000 a month Britney pays him in child support, he gets between $20,000 and $25,000 a month when the kids are outside of California.

At the end of the year the judge will reevaluate custody. We're told it's looking like a 50/50 split is the way of the future.

"Big Russ" passes away at 85

Timothy Joseph Russert, aka "Big Russ", the father of the late "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert, died on Thursday at the age of 85.

A statement from the family said he passed away peacefully with relatives by his side.

"While he was affectionately known to the world as 'Big Russ,' he carried no more important nor meaningful titles than those of father, grandfather, great-grandfather, patriot and friend," the statement said.

In 2004, the younger Russert wrote about his relationship with his father in the best-selling book "Big Russ and Me." Reaction from readers inspired the follow-up, "Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons" in 2006.

The younger Russert, who was also NBC News' Washington bureau chief, passed away suddenly in June 2008, after collapsing at the bureau. His son, Luke Russert, joined the network as a correspondent in July 2008.

The Russert family asks for donations to be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.

You know Tim and Big Russ are both up in heaven, with a mug full of beer, cheering on the Bills.  Thank you, Big Russ, for the gift of your son and grandson.

Under Great White Northern Lights

The White Stripes debut tour documentary

Film debuts at Toronto film festival but is due for cinematic release

The White Stripes Pictures, Images and Photos

The White Stripes' tour documentary 'Under Great White Northern Lights' has debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film, which was directed by video director Emmett Malloy, chronicles Jack and Meg White's 2007 tour of Canada.

Capturing the duo's gigs at several atypical venues including bowling alleys, boats and city buses, it also features the band's 10th anniversary show at the Savoy Theater in Nova Scotia and their famous one-note show in Newfoundland

"The idea was there was this gigantic frontier right next to where we grew up in Detroit that is just so untouched by our band, let alone bands in general," Jack White said.

During the film the duo eat raw caribou, meet tribal elders, walk along frozen tundra, don traditional kilts and even fire a canon.

"We were rolling into towns where a lot of people didn't know who they were or what was going on. They just knew something big was going on in their small town and I think Jack and Meg knew that," director Emmett Malloy told Rolling Stone.

The documentary is due for a cinematic release, though details have yet to be officially confirmed.

Kanye West to Check into Rehab?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Kanye West has been a permanent fixture in the media since his rude on-stage attack on Taylor Swift. But his issues may be a little deeper than just his pure need for attention.

Rumor has it Kanye is considering checking into rehab! According to Star, Kanye has been boozing ever since his mother Donda died one day after receiving a tummy tuck in November 2007.

An insider tells the mag, “His drinking is getting worse — and when he has too much, he can be mean and obnoxious. If he doesn’t get help soon, things could really spiral out of control.”

Apparently he’s planning on checking in after his Fame Kills tour with Lady Gaga wraps up in January. “Kanye’s afraid to go to rehab, but he knows he needs help and is taking steps in the right direction.”

In addition, our Hollyscoop spies witnessed Kanye at Hollywood hotspot Capitol City on September 22nd when he attended Seth MacFarlane’s premiere party for The Cleveland Show.

Our source says a waitress approached the table Kanye was sitting at, and handed him a white wine. "Kanye must have wanted something a little stronger because he sent back the wine in exchange for a lemon drop martini."

The stronger liquor must have gotten Kanye into party mode, because our eyewitness says he was overly touchy-feely with girlfriend Amber, and we’ll just say there was major PDA from them.

The source says Kanye was "in good spirits, laughing and joking with people, and taking pics with everyone around him."

This account comes just two weeks after Kanye was accompanied by a bottle of Hennessy on the VMA carpet. Rumor has it he was in such a drunken stupor that he doesn’t even remember storming the stage.

Chris Brown To Headline New Jersey Concert In October

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It looks like Chris Brown will take a break from his 180-day community labor service sentence next month to headline Power 105.1's Powerhouse concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Brown, 20, will perform October 27 alongside Fabolous, The-Dream, Trey Songz, Keri Hilson, Mario, Ginuwine and Day26.

Images of Brown clearing brush and trash emerged last week as the singer began his six-month community labor stint as part of his sentence for assaulting Rihanna in February, but Virginia officials have declined MTV News' requests for more information on the schedule for the singer's duties or any possible travel stipulations imposed by a California judge.

The show in support of the New York urban radio station is the first major promotional event Brown has participated in to hype the release of his upcoming album, Graffiti; a rep for the singer told MTV News that no release date for the LP has been set. The album's first single, "Transformer," featuring Lil Wayne and produced by Swizz Beatz, is slated to drop soon.

Beatz recently spoke to MTV News about the song, which he called "phenomenal." Despite initially being wary about working with Brown, Beatz said he counseled the singer to keep his head down and get to work. The result, the producer said, was that Brown is "on fire" after working on 60 or 70 songs for the album.

Jessica Alba's 1-Year-Old Already Bilingual – Sort Of

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Jessica Alba attended the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City on Thursday to promote global education for all children, and told PEOPLE she also relentlessly promotes education at home with 1-year-old daughter Honor Marie.

"I am a mother who shoves information down her throat, poor thing," the currently blond actress said with a laugh. "I sing her songs about colors in Spanish and English when I'm cooking. Literally I integrate learning into everything I do. We're into colors because I feel that's something a 15-month-old can sort of identify. So now she kind of points to blue and says 'azul' and I say 'Yes, azul, muy bien!' It's slow going but she's sort of picking it up."

The Fantastic Four actress proudly says her little daughter is bilingual already – almost. "She says gato for cat. Pato for duck, but dog is dog," Alba says. "She doesn't say perro. She kind of flips back and forth. She's very silly. She growls like a lion whenever I say leon."

Alba announced that she will be the United States co-chair of 1GOAL, the new campaign to make education for all children the legacy of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Alba says as a mother "everything becomes more important," particularly education, which is why she is particularly dedicated to the non-profit. "It's a human right, I believe, to have the opportunity to have an education and it's unacceptable that 75 million children on this planet don't have a chance to have one."

She hopes to bring her daughter to Africa for the first time early next year. "I'm actually really excited about going to Africa for the first time with my daughter and exposing her to a completely different culture and having her learn through life experiences," she explained. "That's one thing she's going to get that not a lot of children have the luxury of having: traveling and being exposed to world issues and cultures and food. I can't wait."

She adds that she's excited 1GOAL is affiliated with the World Cup because she is a soccer fan. "I played soccer when I was a kid and so did my husband," she says. "The wonderful thing about the 1GOAL campaign being tied into the World Cup is it's the one time in the world when everyone puts down their differences, puts down their weapons, and roots for a team."

True Blood Wedding Ring Bearer to Have Fangs, Thanks to Dog Splash!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sure, vampires and weredogs have never gotten along in Bon Temps, La., the fictional setting of HBO's hit series True Blood, but when Stephen Moyer marries costar Anna Paquin, those of the furry kind will be well-represented in the wedding party.

"Splash, my alpha, will be the ringbearer," Moyer said at the L.A. Dogworks and Good Dog Animal Rescue fund-raiser on Wednesday in Los Angeles. "My son [Billy, born in 2000] might be unhappy about that."

But Splash, a 10-year-old border collie that Moyer calls "a grumpy little sod" and "lunatic who is getting old," won't have to worry about getting fitted for a tux quite yet. Moyer, 39, and Paquin, 27 – who spent nearly the entire event holding hands – haven't set a date yet.

"We haven’t planned anything," Moyer said. "People say, 'You are engaged to be married,' and I’m like, 'Really? I thought we were just engaged.' "

At least there's an engagement ring. Moyer's friend Cathy Waterman, a California jewelry designer popular among celebrities, created Paquin's ring, which includes what Moyer described as a dark-colored "rustic diamond."

Last night at least, Moyer, who plays vampire Bill Compton, and Paquin, who plays Bill's telepathic girlfriend Sookie Stackhouse, put his focus on fundraising.

"They don’t get paid for what they do, it’s all run on donations and lots of the vets that work for them still charge because there’s things to charge for," Moyer says. "They've been paying out of their own money and it's fortunes. People are coming, so hopefully, it’s working.”

Heidi Montag Thinks Guest-Hosting 'The View' Will Be 'Exciting'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
If Tuesday's "Hills" premiere isn't going to satisfy your Heidi Montag needs, then you might need to check out her guest-hosting gig on "The View" next week too. Spencer Pratt's better half will fill in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is on maternity leave, during the October 1 show.

"I've enjoyed each time Spencer and I have been on 'The View' as guests. It will be exciting seeing it from the other side," she told MTV News in a statement. "I've always admired Elisabeth, and hopefully I'll be able to provide plenty of my own views while filling in for her."

Recently, reality star Kate Gosselin has filled in for Hasselbeck, as did La Toya Jackson. Upcoming stand-ins include former "View" host Lisa Ling and "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi. Heidi and Spencer Pratt last made an appearance on the show in June.

Until then, however, fans will get to see Speidi battle it out on "The Hills," when Heidi tries to convince Spencer to start a family. "I think I'm ready," Heidi told MTV News. "I think I was born ready. I'm very maternal. I'm very loving. I would be the best mom ever. [He feels] not quite the same, but maybe he just doesn't know he wants kids yet. I think he never wants kids, but maybe I'll have a surprise for him."

Heidi knows the consequences of surprising Spencer with a pregnancy: She might find herself in divorce court. "He said, 'That's the quickest way to divorce,' " she explained. "I said, 'No, sucker — you'll be locked in. What do you mean?' "

Aubrey O'day in Paper magazine

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
"So don't talk about shaving my pussy or anything like that," Aubrey O'Day playfully cautions after I tell her the recorder is running, although it doesn't seem likely that our conversation would change much whether the recorder is on or off. The singer and sex symbol is about as censored as her recent Playboy centerfold. No imagination required.

A curvy Californian with cerulean-colored eyes, O'Day is happily outspoken about everything and anything from Obama to AIDS to anal sex. "I'm very comfortable with my sexuality," she says. "I grew up with parents that were practically nudists. Nothing was taboo. Nothing was embarrassing. Nothing was off topic or against my family's values." Ironically, as a 21-year-old vying for recognition on P. Diddy's long-running MTV reality show Making the Band 3, O'Day came across as being a little green: "I think I need to get a little more diva in me. I hope someone can teach me that," she said in one episode. And someone must have, because fast-forward four years later, following her debut in the ludicrously named band Danity Kane (courtesy of Diddy), she has morphed into a sex-bomb bad girl, become friends with Jenna Jameson, talked openly about her love of YouPorn and posed for Complex -- solo, dripping in champagne and wearing little to no clothes.

Sharon Tate's Murderer Has Died

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Susan Atkins, the Charles Manson follower who lost her last chance at parole earlier this month, died at the age of 61 at the women's prison in Chowchilla, state corrections officials said. She had been suffering from brain cancer.

Atkins died of natural causes at 11:46 p.m. Thursday at the skilled nursing facility at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla (Madera County), said Terry Thornton, spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Atkins was convicted of seven murders in the summer of 1969, including the stabbing of actress Sharon Tate, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant, and four friends at her ranch.

Atkins' death sentence was changed to life imprisonment when the Supreme Court overturned the death penalty in 1972. The death penalty was reinstated in 1976. Between 1976 and Sept. 2 of this year, Atkins was denied parole 13 times. In July 2008, the state parole board rejected her request for compassionate release.

Atkins had been incarcerated at California Institution for Women in Corona (Riverside County) for 37 years. She was transferred to a community hospital on March 18, 2008 before moving to the Chowchilla prison's nursing facility exactly a year before her death.

Of all the women in prison in California, Atkins had been behind bars the longest, authorities said.

Hercules Declares Fox’s DOLLHOUSE The Season’s Most Improved Series!!

I remember barely bothering to tune into Joss Whedon’s “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” during its first season on The WB. By the third episode of its second season it became my favorite show.

Whedon’s “Dollhouse” isn’t my favorite show, but tonight’s installment makes me judge it (for the moment) the season’s most improved.

Titled “Vow,” the second season premiere of “Dollhouse” is funny, suspenseful, sexy and willing to kick around more than a few Very Big Ideas. Combined with the series’ terrific “lost” episode, “Vow” roughly triples my investment in this series’ fate.

Hints of what awaits:

"It was really cool. You dream of this day, you dream of having a single out and having it on the radio, so this was a cool day," he told radio DJ Elvis Duran and the Z100 morning-show team.

The strummy, sing-songy tune had apparently been earmarked as a single for Kris since he began working on his post-"Idol" album back in May. Allen told MTV News, "[The song] was actually one that we had listened to really early on, and we kind of just fell in love with it. Everyone did."

A cover of a barely released track by Irish pop rockers the Script, "Live Like We're Dying" joins the tradition of "life wisdom" songs that urge the listener to live each moment as if it were their last.

The positive message is merely one reason Allen was drawn to the song. Responding to one specific lyric, "So if your life flashed before you / What would you wish you would have done?," Kris admitted that if he were suddenly on his way out, there's a big regret in his life. "I wish I would have skydived. It's random, but I have always wanted to," Allen said. "I'm really scared to, but I think that it would be the biggest rush."

The single just went up on iTunes today! Kris fans, make sure you buy it! If you haven't heard it yet, here it is:

Blind item: Hot couple make love AND war

Being an insanely plugged-in member of this biz called show has its disadvantages. Case in point: I just found out that one of my favorite on-screen duos doesn’t get along in real life. Truth be told, they despise each other, and it’s causing serious conflict on the set.

According to a well-placed insider on this unnamed smash hit, the male half of this twosome claims his leading lady is unprofessional and extremely difficult to work with. Even worse, he has accused her of behaving “inappropriately” at times. He’s made it known to TPTB that he doesn’t want to be in scenes with her, least of all love scenes.

But there’s no getting around those anytime soon. “They told him the love scenes are unavoidable,” says my spy. “Their characters are supposed to be having a torrid affair.”

Agents for the pair are attempting to defuse the situation by promising to make sure both actors maintain professional standards in future scenes.

Care to guess the identity of the quarreling lovers?

FlashForward off to a good start, Survivor Samoa beaten in viewers for the first time in an eternity, but actually up versus last week despite the FlashForward premiere.
Fringe was down, but the night is definitely still up for FOX, who took third for the first official Thursday of the season.
Those predicting Grey’s Anatomy would pull adults 18-49 ratings similar to House – you were right, and I bow down to you! We’ll have to see the final tallies to know whether Grey’s or House was top scripted 18-49 show for the week. Either way, Grey’s put a whipping on CBS’ CSI and The Mentalist in terms of adults 18-49. But next week, The Mentalist will go head-to-head with Private Practice and should fare better.

CSI and Greys were both down from last year, CSI sharply down from last year’s a 7.0/17 with adults 18-49 and 22.9 million viewers. Grey’s last year premiered to a 7.4/18 and 18.5 million viewers

Barbara Walters Says Paula Deen Makes Kids Fat

When cookbook author Paula Deen appeared on "The View" on ABC Tuesday, host Barbara Walters lashed out at her for pushing fattening food for children. Deen, a zaftig, Georgia restaurant owner, was on the program to plug her book, "Paula Deen's Cookbook for the Lunchbox Set."

"This is a cookbook for kids. Obesity is the No. 1 problem for kids today. Everything you have here is enormously fattening," scolded Walters as she sat by the famous chef. "You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast. You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn't it bother you that you're adding to this?"

All things in moderation, counseled Deen. "No, I'm not saying they should eat like this every day," she said.

Walters snapped that Deen's book is hardly a lesson in moderation. "Not when you're giving them this!"

We have two words for this. Awk. Ward.

i love how sherri, whoopi, joy and the guest host are too busy stuffing their faces to care about whatever the fuck babs is babbling about.

Please, Hollywood, Don’t Ruin Our Childhood: 12 Books We Don't Want To See As Movies

Adapting children’s books into films really is a brilliant financial move for studios: not only do whole families buy tickets, adults without children probably want to see their favorite book on the big screen too. Except when you totally ruin it. The Cat in the Hat (2003), anyone? Just thinking of Mike Myers in that creepy cat jumper makes me think less about the Dr. Seuss book and more about bestiality. And do you remember Inkheart (2008)? I think Brendan Fraser was in it, but I’ve cut him off since the second Mummy movie. While the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) wasn’t so bad, Johnny Depp’s slick metrosexual Wonka was a lot less loveable than Gene Wilder’s Wonka. Movies like that make us fear for the celluloid-state of the upcoming Where the Wild Things Are (though Spike Jonze directing it gives us hope)—and the following list of much-beloved childhood books.

Denny Doherty's daughter reacts to Mackenzie Phillips' Story

Image Hosted by

One more woman has spoken out in reaction to Mackenzie's story. Jessica Woods is the daughter of Denny Doherty, the other male singer in the Mamas & the Papas. In an e-mail to The Oprah Show, Jessica wrote: "I just watched your show with Mackenzie Phillips. Tears are running down my face. Everything she said is true. My dad told me the awful truth. He was horrified at what John had done and knew all of it."

Mackenzie says she is not surprised that Jessica knew what had happened. "It was absolutely known by other people, but I'm telling my story. So for me to put other people on the spot to have to comment on this, it's not fair," she says. "I can count on two hands the people that could corroborate my story. But put more people in the line of fire? No."

Now that her story is out, Mackenzie says she is ready to move forward. "The outpouring of support for survivors shows me that maybe I can help be a voice. I don't know. But my path is becoming clearer to me the more clarity I get on what people are saying."

Final Fantasy Being Tested for Swine Flu, Cancels Vancouver Show Due to Illness
9/25/2009 By Brock Thiessen

Bad news Final Fantasy fans: Owen Pallett has cancelled his show tonight (September 25) in Vancouver due to illness. According to Pallett’s recent tweets, he currently “can’t even stand up straight” and is in a “semi-conscious in a cot in Victoria,” where he's at for the city’s Rifflandia festival.

Pallett goes on to say that he has the flu and is awaiting test result to see if it is H1N1. But even if it’s not the more vicious strain, he says he’s been advised not to perform. “Unless I wear a surgical mask and latex gloves, I'm a walking contagion,” he writes.

And while Final Fantasy says on his Twitter that tonight’s show in Vancouver is going ahead with just openers Timber Timbre, promoters Sealed with a Kiss say on their website that the show is postponed and that ticket holders should hold onto their tickets until a rescheduled date is announced.

There is no word yet on whether further concerts will be cancelled or postponed, but Final Fantasy’s next date is on Sunday (September 27) in Edmonton, followed by a show in Calgary the following day. After a few more Canadian dates, Pallett is scheduled to join up with the Mountain Goats for quite the substantial U.S. tour.

Thanks to CBC Radio 3 for the tip.

Do Celebrity Victims Have an Obligation to Speak Out?

It’s the confession that stunned the world this week: Mackenzie Phillips appeared on Oprah to admit publicly for the first time that she and her father, famed '60s musician John Phillips (of The Mamas and the Paps), had a ten-year sexual relationship. During her appearance, Phillips also uttered a sentence that most definitely has never been said on Oprah before: "I am here to be the face of incest."

Phillips went on to say that the reason she is sharing her story, in addition to purging herself of her own demons, is to give other incest victims the strength to speak up: "I know that I can't be the only one this has happened to. Nobody's talking about this, and someone needs to put a face on not only nonconsensual incest but consensual incest." (Oprah Winfrey herself has spoken up as a victim of childhood incest, which may be why Phillips chose to speak to her.)

So far, it looks like Mackenzie’s public confession is having its desired effect. According to ABC News, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network has experienced a 26% jump in hotline calls this week, while traffic to its Web site has nearly doubled. A supervisor at the organization credits Phillips’ inspiration: "Whenever a person hears another person's story about being assaulted, that gives them the courage to come forward."

Clearly, celebrities have the power to do what even therapists and family members can’t always accomplish: to remove some of the stigma from taboo subjects, and to inspire ordinary people to speak out. So, given that celebrities have this power – does that mean they’re obligated to use it?

Amusement park removes dead celebrity display

Kings Island drops skeleton display

MASON – Kings Island has dropped a Halloween Haunt display showing skeletons of dead celebrities.

Don Helbig, Kings Island spokesman, spent a rainy Thursday helping to remove the scene of slain NFL quarterback Steve McNair and his dead mistress Sahel Kazemi, along with other skeletons made to look like dead celebrities, including Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson.

The skeletons were near The Beast rollercoaster and have been replaced with generic skeletons, Helbig said. "We weren’t intending for it to be distasteful and we do apologize if we offended anyone," he said.

Reaction to the McNair display was negative, particularly in Nashville, where McNair played most of his career and was killed on July 4. Police said that Kazemi shot McNair to death before killing herself.

The McNair skeleton wore a jersey numbered 9 and sat on a couch with a dress-wearing skeleton sprawled in its lap. A gun was on the ground, and the jersey-clad skeleton held a Tennessee Titans snack bowl.

George Plaster, a sports radio talk show host at 104.5-FM "The Zone" in Nashville, talked about the McNair skeleton on his Wednesday program.

Plaster said Thursday he was shocked when he heard about the display.

"I can’t imagine how anybody would get in a room, in a planning session, in what is a pretty tasteful theme park, and decide that’s OK and classy," he said. "Not one person said, ‘Wait a minute, that’s incredibly insensitive?’ I’m stunned at that."

Helbig said the park received a handful of complaints on the display, which has not yet opened to the public, and decided to shut it down.

The celebrity skeleton scene included a Sonny Bono skeleton tied face first to a tree and geared in ski equipment. Bono, a singer, actor and U.S. Congressman, died in 1998 as a result of a skiing accident after he hit a tree. A skeleton of Boston Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams was stuffed in a glass-door freezer. Williams was cryogenically frozen after his 2002 death.

Preview photographs showed skeletons representing Jackson, Ledger, "Charlie’s Angels" actress Farrah Fawcett, Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas and as-seen-on-TV product pitchman Billy Mays.

Halloween Haunt at Kings Island is scheduled to open Friday at 7 p.m.

Lauren Bacall to receive honorary Oscar

After being in show business for over 55 years, Lauren Bacall will be presented with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Honorary Award on November 14

On November 14, 2009 when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents its Honorary Academy Award to 85-year-old Lauren (Betty) Bacall, we can expect what her reaction would be. She would give them her trademark ‘Look’ (pressing her chin against her chest and tilting her eyes upward) and drawl, ‘It’s been a long time coming, honey, but better late than never’! The ‘Look’ had been Bacall’s trademark since her 1944 movie, To Have and Have Not.

Her comments would be justified. After all, Bacall had been in show business for 55 years and her score card is quite impressive — 60 movies, eight Broadway hits, 16 TV shows, 13 awards of different categories, three best-selling books. Only the ‘Oscar’ had been missing. In 1999, Bacall was ranked one among the top 25 stars on the American Film Institute’s 100 years.

Bijou Phillips: ~vintage interview regarding papa phillips

Bijou Philips, 2000

For anyone with even a casual relationship with the delicious Page Six, The New York Post's gossip column, "Bijou" should already be somewhat of a household word. In fact, Bijou Phillips, who will turn twenty in the year 2000, has been the veritable holy terror of Page Six for the past four or five years now. She's today's Tuesday, the new Drew, a wild child who, through fate and circumstance, was somehow allowed to partake of New York's nebulous nightlife at an age traditionally more suited to playing with dolls — that is, of the non-pharmaceutical variety.

Bijou is one of the three famous daughters from different mothers of Papa John Phillips of the '60s group, The Mamas and the Papas, the other two being MacKenzie, of American Graffiti and One Day at a Time, and Chynna, formerly of the pop band Wilson Phillips, and currently a Baldwin wife.

The senior Phillips' annoyingly cocksure autobiography, Papa John, chronicles the life of a selfish and driven man whose bipolar extremes, fueled by a self-destructive indulgence in sex and drugs, left a trail of broken lives in his wake. Indeed, Bijou may have had her first drug experience before she was born.

It was with a little trepidation that I first met young Bijou (through a mutual friend, the lovely, red-headed recording star Esthero) at a sushi restaurant in Toronto. I'd already heard the rumors, and was anticipating a Tasmanian she-devil who might just as soon bite my hand as shake it. Greeting me instead was a charming girl with porcelain skin and kewpie doll lips, and the particularly disconcerting quality of someone nineteen going on thirty-five. Aside from mounting and almost disrobing one of our nubile female dinner companions, and shoving her tongue down her throat — which sent our servers scurrying nervously from the private room — I found her company quite civilized. She's a forthright and engaging young lady with a fondness for dirty rapping and spontaneous balladeering. I hoped to see her again.

A few months later, when Bijou was back in Toronto shooting a movie called Tart, we ended up in a cab one evening under the influence of some harmless club drug. For fifteen minutes I sat transfixed as she spoke softly into her flashing pink cell phone reciting a passionate, epic love poem to her current beau, then dismissed it as piffle. She stretched out her long legs and nestled cat-like in the back seat as if in a perpetual state of limousine. I gazed in wonder at a girl who seemed to have the world at her feet.

Bijou will soon appear in James Toback's Black and White. The movie's a mess, but Bijou sparkles. She's also working on a follow-up to her debut album, I'd Rather Eat Glass, which was released last year, and this month she graces the cover of Playboy. It seemed appropriate to bring along a recent issue of Celebrity Sleuth — a salacious magazine that digs up and reprints obscure or previously suppressed pictures of famous females in the nude — in which she ravishingly appears. I'm quite excited, as I've been collecting the Sleuth's work for years. Bijou flips through it distractedly as we settle in.

Posted because I wanted to place some truth on the speculation and whisper arounds regarding Bijou going on since the beginning of this scandal. Also, to let ONTD get a bit more perspective on the greatness that is Bijou Phillips.

Today she finally decided to give us a peek of the 9-carat diamond (wowsers!) while out on a Starbucks run.

It's about time, too. We were starting to get antsy overanalyzing every ring she wears, even if it's on the wrong finger.

This covers most of the major details we need to know about Sunday's wedding. We've got Lamar Odom's bachelor party out of the way, the impostor invite debunked, the wedding registry, the location and now the ring. All that's left is the dress!

Can't wait.

Hilary, Lindsay, Hayden, Blake, Dakota?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Fifty years after she made her debut at a New York toy fair, the world's favourite doll has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Universal Pictures. After keeping her away from the big screen - a bubbly cameo in Toy Story 2 aside - toy manufacturer Mattel has decided to let Barbie go to Hollywood.

"The brand wasn't ready for a movie," Mattel told Variety. "[But] in the last 10 years, Barbie has evolved from a toy into an intellectual property... There is a flagship store in Shanghai."

Since the 1950s, Barbie has flitted through various careers - astronaut, doctor, flight attendant, cocktail waitress - even drag car racer. She's also managed to remain strikingly blond and forever young, both things that Universal Pictures will need to consider when they get round to casting a Hollywood starlet to step into her stilettos.

It seems likely that Katherine Heigl, Heather Graham and Anna Faris are all a little too old for the role. Likewise Alicia Silverstone and Reese Witherspoon, whose previous roles as spoofing ditzy blondes - in Clueless and Legally Blonde - may also rule them out of playing Barbie with the necessary seriousness.

So, the names being bandied around include Hilary Duff, who has already had a Barbie figure made in her likeness, Lindsay Lohan, if she's not considered too much of a hellraiser, and Heroes star Hayden Panettiere. Then there's Blake Lively from Gossip Girl, and Dakota Fanning, the 15-year-old who already has almost a decade's worth of experience in Hollywood.

Universal have appointed Laurence Marks, who worked on the current Meryl Streep film Julie & Julia, as producer. Enthusing about his new project, Marks said: "Barbie may be the most popular girl in the world, and has always been a wonderfully aspirational figure, so we must do her proud."

Give your opinion ONTD!

OMG NO!!!! Conan got hurt, sent to the hospital!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is why it's good to have a second in command.

Andy Richter had to step in as host of The Tonight Show Friday after Conan O'Brien fell during a skit being taped for Friday's episode and was taken by ambulance to the hospital, sources confirm to E! News.

Our insider says O'Brien was running down a flight of stairs when he slipped and banged his head, possibly sustaining a concussion.

NBC will likely air a repeat instead of the show that was halted by O'Brien's accident. Teri Hatcher and Seth MacFarlane were tonight's scheduled guests. (The network has not yet returned a request for comment.)

We hope one of our favorite funnymen gets well soon!

UPDATE: "Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice," O'Brien said afterward.

*UPDATE 2*: stopbeingdandy was at the taping and says 'He was doing a triathalon skit with Teri Hatcher and they were running down the audience stairs to get to the finish line. He slid and fell backwards on the stage. He was kneeling on the floor and gave Teri Hatcher a hug before he got up. He went backstage to get dried off (b/c he had swam in a pool) and it seemed like it was ok because he came out again. But he talked to the producer and stayed backstage. Andy's part was really short. After waiting for 15 mins. they gave him the mic to explain the situation and to introduce the musical guest.'

Hope everything turns out ok

Sufjan Stevens Performs Epic New Track Live

When Sufjan Stevens announced his current intimate fall tour, we figured the guy might whip out a few new tunes-- especially since his last proper song-based LP came out four freaking years ago. But we did not expect something like "There's Too Much Love"-- a breakbeat-backed sonic assault featuring a murky electro-jazz section that reminds us of André 3000's similarly wild take on "My Favorite Things" or Radiohead's "National Anthem". Definitely not "Chicago Pt. 2".

Lady Gaga ‘Paid Her Dues’ For Success, Akon Says – After winning three Moonmen at the 2009 VMAs and becoming the first singer in a decade to hit #1 with her first two singles, Lady Gaga has definitely certified herself as the breakout star of the year.

Akon, who signed Gaga to his Kon Live Distribution label in 2008 and calls her his “franchise player,” said his protégé’s success is the result of a lot of hard work.

“She’s definitely paid her dues,” ‘Kon told MTV News. “She’s been through all kinds of strings and ropes. She’s jumped through all kinds of hoops. It was just a matter of time for her. You can’t stop true talent. And you can’t stop the truth. If that’s what it is, that’s what it is. At the end of the day, she’s one of those rare finds. A diamond in the rough that you just have to polish out and let shine, and that’s exactly what she’s doing.”

The often outrageously costumed singer scored VMA wins for Best New Artist, Best Art Direction and Best Special Effects with her “Paparazzi” video. Next up, she’ll take her theatrical act on the road for her co-headlining tour with Kanye West. She told the BBC last month that the trek would be “groundbreaking.”

Akon — who has also had a hand in the careers of T-Pain, Rock City, and Kat DeLuna, among others — is clearly proud of how far Gaga has come.

“It’s Gaga all day,” ‘Kon enthused. “Gaga, at the end of the day, is the truth. I love her. Right now my heart is with Gaga.”

Lamar Wants Prenup -- But There's a Problem

TMZ has learned -- although Lamar Odom thinks love conquers all -- he decided to hedge his bets with a prenup. But there's a big complication.

Odom has lawyered up and so has Khloe. The problem is ... they have to get married on Sunday and there isn't enough time to hash out the details of a prenuptial agreement.

Why, you ask, isn't there enough time? We've learned they must get married on Sunday because one of the Kardashian reality shows is footing the $1 million bill for the wedding, but the deal is that the wedding must be shot this Sunday.

So we're told Lamar wants a postnup -- meaning the agreement will be hashed out and hopefully signed after Sunday's event.

Now here's the intrigue. There's talk that Sunday's wedding might not be the real deal -- it could be a non-binding ceremony. It's common with a postnup that bride and groom would not officially tie the knot until after they sign the document. What they typically do sign before the ceremony is an acknowledgment that it's not really an official wedding, to prevent misunderstandings down the road.

And speaking of problems .... we're told lawyers for Odom and Kardashian are already arguing and hitting road blocks.

David Bowie re-issues more material much to the delight and dismay of fans

Recorded in Dublin, live versions span his entire career to-date, from "The Man Who Sold the World" (1971), "Changes" (1972), "Ziggy Stardust" (1972), "All the Young Dudes" (1972), "Rebel Rebel" (1974), "Fame" (1975)," "Heroes" (1977), "Ashes To Ashes" (1980), "Under Pressure" (1981), "I’m Afraid Of Americans" (1997), up through 10 songs from Heathen (2002) and Reality (2003) albums

Available at both physical and digital retail outlets starting January 26, 2010, through ISO/Columbia/Legacy

Super long but super interesting interview with Clive Owen

There is nothing as sexy as a gorgeous guy who is also a great dad! Amazingly talented and ultra-handsome actor Clive Owen has taken roles opposite a stellar ensemble of leading ladies from Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth: The Golden Age) to Angelina Jolie (Beyond Borders) and Julia Roberts (Closer and Duplicity), but it's his portrayal of a grief-stricken dad trying to raise two young sons in The Boys Are Back that perhaps showcases the actor's most attractive qualities.

Clive and his wife Sara
Unlike many Hollywood hunks, Clive Owen is a solid family man. He met his longtime wife Sarah-Jane Fenton while playing Romeo to her Juliet at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. What's more romantic than that? The couple, who have been married since 1995, have two daughters Hannah, 12 and Eve, 9.

director Scott Hicks, who helmed the popular Shine, Hearts in Atlantis and the recent rom-com No Reservations, told us why he chose Clive to play his dad-in-distress.

"When I saw Clive in Closer (2004), I thought, 'that's what I want. I want someone who has that sort of stillness that is actually a mask for seething emotion because Joe is struggling to maintain despite his grief," Hicks said.

Owen, who has an extensive theater background, might come off as over-controlled or even controlling. Not so according to Hicks.

"What surprised me is that he was so easy-going. He's meticulously prepared. He came absolutely ready, totally focused but ready to enjoy himself, have a good time and make sure everybody else did too and that is a blessing. He was a sheer delight and made it fun".

Despite dealing with family tragedy, Clive's character Joe says clever and relatable things to his child like "Harry, did you just wipe your face with a dog?"

In a boutique hotel in West Hollywood, SheKnows met with Mr Owen, who is obviously proud of this sensitive, emotional yet funny film and especially of his young co-stars. Dressed in very dark blue jacket and pants, crisp white shirt and cute tennis shoes, Clive was the poster boy for casual elegance. Those intense, green/gray eyes lock with his interviewer as he earnestly answers questions...

I can't say it enough: the movie was amazing and Clive was so good in it. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

The World: Your 15 Minutes are Up, Jon & Kate

Jon & Kate + 8 Experience 84% Drop in Viewership Since June

In 24 years of daily writing about TV and media, I do not think I have ever seen an audience loss quite like the one "Jon & Kate Plus 8" has been experiencing since the mother and father of eight children announced their divorce on TV.

On Monday, the TLC reality TV show had an audience of 1.714 million viewers. If you compare that to the 10.6 million who watched a one-hour special on June 22 when the show returned after the parents announced their breakup, that's an 84 percent plunge in viewership.

In fairness, the 10.6 was for a one-hour special that had been hyped mercilessly by the tabloids, so the comparison to a regular half-hour episode in September is not a perfect one -- if there is such a thing in ratings stories.

But consider this, which is more than fair: Since Aug. 3, the show has lost 62 percent of its audience -- from 4.2 million viewers for the half hour show on that night, to the 1.7 million on Monday.

And the skid has been steady: from 4.2 million on Aug. 3, to 3.4 million on Aug. 10, to a 3 million on Aug. 17, to the 1.714 million Monday.

The only comfort for TLC is that it does appear that the show might finally be hitting bottom. On Sept. 14, the audience was 1.789 million viewers, according to So, the drop to 1.714 this week, is the smallest of the season.

Still, what a drop. As one of my colleagues who is more of a ratings expert than me, said Thursday, "Looking at those numbers, I would say Jon & Kate's 15 minutes might not yet be up, but they're at about 14 and 1/2 and counting."

What We Can Tell About Courtney Love From Her Twitter Account

The best drama we've seen over the past weeks has nothing to do with the new Fall TV lineup. Oh no, we found it on Courtney Love's Twitter feed. And we have to say, her tweets are everything you would ever want from the rocker widow of Kurt Cobain. Love has strong opinions on everything from Madonna's mothering style to Victorian literature. She battles the IRS and counsels folks on their credit scores. She loves the Mercer hotel and David Geffen, but hates Peaches Geldof. Here's what we learned from this past week's tweets. Don't worry. After the jump, we translate Courtney-tweet for our readers who don't speak crazy.
