Hunter Burgan and Davey Havok Interviewed At Toronto's Edgefest

The amazing sexy vegan bassist by the name of Hunter Burgan and his bandmate/vocalist Davey Havok were interviewed when they performed at Toronto's EdgeFest last week. The duo talked about the band's upcoming album "Crash Love". You can watch the video here or by clicking above. Below are a few brief quotes.

"As with all of our releases, it's very different than the last release, and it's very different than the release before that. It's hard for us to really step back at this moment ... it is definitely a slightly new direction. I don't think anyone would listen to it and not recognize it as us at the same time. For me, it's something that I am the most proud of ... Hopefully you'll be as excited about it as we are. I think it's fantastic."

BET Missed the Mark with Michael Jackson Tribute

Bolded parts for the TL;DR crowd
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Over the past week many of us have sat in seething anger as news show after news show and pundit after pundit have been granted large platforms and an abundance of air time to come and trash Michael Jackson. I’m not talking about raising a couple of controversial issues here and there, but some of the folks who have been dragged out the sewer with the express purpose of going all out not to just smash on MJ, but to do so in such away that it would hurt us. It was like some diabolical mind sat in a room and said ‘Here’s how you can really totally demoralize Black folks-take the biggest icon and treat him like shit while the body is still warm’ Watching the coverage of Michael Jackson on many of these mainstream news outlets has me wondering if MJ did something personal to some of them.
Simply put, OJ Simpson got and gets better treatment.

'I want my daughter to be like Cheryl Cole - rich, beautiful and everyone loves her'

Most parents do their best to ensure their children grow up well-educated and happy.

Karen Whitehead has a more focused aim for her 11-year-old daughter Lucie - she wants her to be famous.

And in pursuit of her ambition to craft the little girl into an identikit footballer's wife/pop star, she is lashing out £6,000 a year on fake tan, highlights, make-up, and manicures, as well as funding singing, dancing and acting lessons six days a week.

Role model: Cheryl Cole

She also encourages her daughter - who idolises model Jordan (!!!) - to wear full make-up to school, and warns the 5ft, six stone youngster to watch her weight if she wants to emulate Cheryl Cole, the Girls Aloud singer and wife of footballer Ashley Cole.

'I want her to become like Cheryl Cole,' said Mrs Whitehead, 40.

'Cheryl’s rich, beautiful and everyone loves her. It’s Lucie’s dream to be famous and I’ll stop at nothing to help her achieve it.

China: Johnny Depp bad for moral health

BEIJING (Reuters) – What do Johnny Depp, Garfield, Paris Hilton and roast pork have in common? In China, the answer is that a new government-mandated Internet filter rates some pictures of all four of them as bad for your moral health.

Beijing has ordered all personal computers sold in China from July 1 to be preinstalled with the Green Dam software, which it says is designed to block pornographic and violent images, and which critics fear will be used to extend censorship.

But a trial of the programme, which is available online for free download (http://www.skycn.com/soft/46657.html), suggested its filters may be of limited use to worried parents.

When the software is installed, and an image scanner activated, it blocks even harmless images of a film poster for cartoon cat Garfield, dishes of flesh-colour cooked pork and on one search engine a close-up of film star Johnny Depp's face.

Collapse )

There are tons of special-interest search engines and filters floating around, from Kosher browsers that won't let you buy things on the Sabbath, to Good Search, which donates money to charity each time someone uses its service. If ONTD had its own net filter, what would you want it to block? Also, feel free to post pics that China might ban ~in protest~

Alia & Tatum join The Runaways

LatinoReview.com has exclusively learned that Arrested Development alum Alia Shawkat (who played Mae "Maeby" Funke in the popular series) has joined the cast of THE RUNAWAYS as the 18 year old bass player ROBIN. Tall and slender, Robin is the oldest and most feminine of the band. Now, we all know that Micki Steele (who went on the join THE BANGLES) was the original bass player who then got replaced by Peggy Foster for a hot second and then finally by Jackie Fox. Remember that THE RUNAWAYS were a five member girl band. I'm thinking that the film production probably did not secure the permission of Micki Steele to use her name and or likeness, so the writer/director came up with the essence of Micki by creating the character ROBIN. That is at least what I got from reading this very solid script. Current shooting around Los Angeles and starring Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, THE RUNAWAYS is slated for release sometime in 2010 and is definitely one of my must watch movies of next year.
This movie takes place during the Jackie era, so idk why this guy is so hung up on Micki.
Life & Style has learned exclusively that Tatum O'Neal has just been cast as Dakota Fanning's character's mother in The Runaways. Tatum, who is the daughter of Ryan O'Neal and stepdaughter of Farrah Fawcett, is best known for being the youngest actress to win an Academy Award.

I arrive at Leavesden Studio near Warford in Hertfordshire at 11:30 on a Tuesday morning. Home to the Harry Potter cast and crew for 10 years now, it’s an old aerodrome that houses the film’s impressive sets but looks - and an closer inspection is – entirely devoid of glamour. Emma has recently moved out of her mother’s house in Oxford and into a Hampstead flathouse, so she’s now only a 30-minute drive away. LONDON (June 30, 2009) - At this time of mourning for Michael Jackson, we are together in our sadness at the loss of one of the greatest entertainers ever.

"The world lost a kind soul who just happened to be the greatest entertainer the world has ever known," said Randy Phillips, President & CEO, AEG Live. "Since he loved his fans in life, it is incumbent upon us to treat them with the same reverence and respect after his death."

AEG Live (UK) Ltd, concert promoters, announced that full refunds will be available to fans who purchased tickets through authorised agents for any of the 50 Michael Jackson 'This Is It' concerts which were to take place at The O2 Arena in London .

These refunds will include all ticket service charges.

Ticket holders requiring information about receiving a full refund should go to www.MichaeJacksonLive.com from Wednesday, July 1, 2009. The refunds will be processed by each of the authorised ticket agencies (e.g. Ticketmaster, Viagogo, See or Ticketline).

It was also announced that fans will have the option to be sent the actual tickets they would have received to attend the shows in lieu of the full refunds which are being offered

The tickets printed with the special lenticular process, were inspired and designed by Michael Jackson for the fans attending his shows. Images of the specially created tickets may be seen onwww.michaeljacksonlive.com. The special offer to receive the actual tickets that the purchaser would have received to attend 'This is It' will remain valid thru 23:59 GMT, August 14, 2009

um it's kind of disgusting to me that they're profiting off of his death like this. essentially charging $125+ for a commemorative ticket is not a way of respecting us fans or michael.

edit: i just wrote the following letter to AEG Live. called their headquarters and am waiting for an the appropriate email address to send this to. fans, speak up!!

Robert Pattinson: Central Park Stud

Taking full advantage of a beautiful summer day in New York City, Robert Pattinson was spotted filming his new movie “Remember Me” in Central Park this morning (June 30).

The “Twilight” stud looked to be having a good time as he shot a few outdoor scenes, relaxing and chatting with crew and cast members in between takes.

In related news, it seems Robert used to have a thing for the girl next door - literally. The “New Moon” hunk used to date Nina Schubert, a girl who lived around the corner from him. And now that he’s famous, she’s pining over him.

An insider told press, “Nina hasn’t been able to get over Rob and shake the fact that she was his first love. Over the past year, it really hit her hard when she saw him get famous. She realizes that she had Rob all to herself, but now he seems to be the subject of every girl’s dreams and fantasies. She’s still trying to come to grips with what happened between them.”

“Even though Nina was modeling, she wasn’t famous. She and Rob were able to do the simple things most young couples do, like walk hand-in-hand in the park and go to movies. They got to know each other without the world watching. Nina and Rob continued to date as their careers took off. They moved in together in London and, for a time, they were the golden couple.”

joe jackson: DENIED!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Michael Jackson Will Surfaces, Snubs Joe

The question of whether or not Michael Jackson had a valid will at the time of his death just got a little more complicated.

Yesterday, parents Joe and Katherine Jackson sought control of Michael's estate, claiming in court documents that the King of Pop died without a will. Hours later, one drafted in 2002 surfaced.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the document—which will no doubt be the centerpiece of a lengthy and ferocious legal battle in months to come — divides the superstar's estate among his mother, his three children (Prince Michael, Paris-Michael and Prince Michael II) and at least one charity.

It's unclear what custody arrangements, if any, Jackson made for his three children. But a court ruling yesterday gave temporary guardianship to Katherine.

At least one aspect of the will does appear to be clear. Joe Jackson wasn't named as an heir.

The will, drafted by Jackson's longtime attorney John Branca, may be filed in probate court as early as Thursday.

So far, the family is mum on the document.

"No will has been presented to family or us," Joe and Katherine's lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, told the Journal. "We will review any will when we see it."

Branca represented the singer from 1980 to 2006, and was rehired by Jackson just one week before his sudden death. Branca and music exec John McClain, a longtime friend of Jackson, are named as executors.

According to the Journal, while the pop icon died with roughly $500 million in debt, his assets are believed to dwarf that staggering figure by $200 million.

Among his more prized assets are a 50 percent stake in Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and Mijac, a publishing catalog that includes both Jackson's and the Beatles' canons.

Apollo Celebrates Michael

For several days The Apollo Theater has been paying tribute to Michael for the past few days since his death. And actually if you're in the city they are having a ceremony of some sorts today at the theater between 2pm-8pm. However i went on Saturday, and even though we were all mourning his death, we wanted to celebrate with what he gave us, his music and dancing. There was such an amazing spirit in the air, i know Michael was definitely enjoying what we saw, even the bad dancing many did.

Once a Jett, always a Joan Jett

Joan Jett is all about tough love.

The rocker gave Kristen Stewart, who plays a young Jett in the upcoming biopic “The Runaways,” a hard time last week, causing the young starlet to burst into tears on set.

Says an insider, “Joan just wants Kristen to play an authentic version of herself, so she needled her a little bit too much. But she apologized when she realized how upset Kristen got.”

At least there’s no bad blood between the two. Says our insider, “They’re like mother and daughter now.”

Better watch out, Joan — mess with Kristen and you’ll have Rob Pattinson to contend with. (LUCKY!)

Michael Jackon's Body To Have Public Viewing at Neverland Ranch on Friday

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's body will return to his Neverland Ranch on Thursday morning for a public viewing on Friday, CNN has learned.

A private memorial service is scheduled for Sunday.

Also, a Jackson will, written in 2002, has been located, according to Jackson family lawyer Londell McMillan.

The question of where Jackson will be buried remains unanswered.

The singer's hometown of Gary, Indiana, is asking the family to send him there, according to the mayor's spokeswoman.

Gary Mayor Rudy Clay has been in contact with the Jackson family hoping to make that happen, spokeswoman Lalosa Burns said Tuesday. Clay told Chicago radio station WGN that he expects Jackson's body will, at the least, be taken to Gary for a memorial service he is planning for next week."I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Indiana," Clay said Tuesday. "Now, it may not happen, but I believe it will."

The Jackson memorial service is set for July 10 at U.S. Steel Works ballpark in Gary, Burns said.

It would be "a memorial that's fit for the prince of peace and a memorial that's fit for Gary, Indiana's favorite son, the greatest entertainer that ever lived," Clay said.

A burial site for the singer could be near a proposed Jackson family museum and a performing arts center, Burns said.

"The mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family," Burns said. "We have not received confirmation on that."

Jackson's father, Joe, visited the city last year and talked with Clay about a Jackson museum, Burns said.

I seriously wish Joe Jackson would just gtfo. I don't see the need for them to bring up his name in every article. The man is vile, plain and simple.

Report: Neither Jackson or Rowe Are Kids' Biological Parents

Debbie Rowe may have given birth to Michael Jackson's oldest children, but TMZ is now reporting neither he OR she are the biological parents. Citing "multiple sources deeply connected to the births," the site claims Michael Jr. and Paris were conceived in vitro, outside the womb, and that Michael was not the sperm donor. Also, Rowe's eggs were not used and she was quite simply a paid surrogate.
Regardless of these reports, Rowe has been trying to get in touch with the late singer's family since his death.
"We've been trying to reach them at different numbers. But we don't know if who we've been leaving messages with have gotten the messages," Marc Schaffel, a business associate of the family who is friends with Rowe, tells PEOPLE.
"In all fairness I wouldn't say they are avoiding her," Schaffel says. "Our understanding, though, is that the Jackson family does want to have contact with Debbie."
As for Rowe's reasons for trying to contact them? Schaffel explains that there are "several reasons" including "to offer her input into a venue where they could have a public memorial."

"Debbie was absolutely devastated by Michael's death. They had an incredible bond and friendship even prior to the marriage... Debbie was a very good friend to Michael during all those years," he adds.
According to the law, Rowe could get custody of the two children, even if she isn't the biological mother. However, Katherine Jackson -- Michael's mother -- has petitioned in court to be the legal guardian and was granted temporary custody.
In papers filed in court, Katherine claims that the kids "have no relationship with their biological mother" and "have a long established relationship" with their grandmother.
Jackson's youngest child, Prince Michael II, was born to an unknown surrogate.

It seems strange that the phrase “literary device” would show up anywhere on Twitter, but that was songwriter, guitarist, cruise captain and social-networking aficionado John Mayer’s explanation for a series of notes he left last night. In a fantastically meta experiment, Mayer invented three Tweets that are ostensibly reviews of Thriller, written as “a fantasy as if the internet was around in ‘83.” (Note to Mayer: Thriller actually came out in ‘82.)

Mayer manages to totally nail the tone of today’s finicky online music critics. “So far, after my first listen, ‘Thriller’ is my least favorite song on the album,” goes one Tweet. “It just seems, I don’t know, overproduced.”

There is also a nod to the constant hunger for downloadable bootlegs and leaks in Mayer’s experiment. “I don’t know, maybe I’m just used to the demo of ‘Billie Jean’ that leaked, but the final version seems ‘off’ to me,” goes one of the messages. In the third and final one, Mayer expresses the sort of sentiment that first-adopters tend to feel when they love something small that suddenly gets big: “MJ is going to reach a lot more people with this record. It sucks that he won’t be ‘ours’ anymore, but good for him.” (Of course, that suggests that Jackson’s pre-Thriller audience was only as large as that of Arcade Fire, which wasn’t the case.)

Those were the only three notes that Mayer wrote, but he does bring up an interesting point about the current nature of criticism and the lack of consensus about just who is a star.

What do you think? Would Michael Jackson have been as big a star had he been forced to put up with the current day Internet music scrutiny?

EXCLUSIVE: Dermatologist Is Father of Michael Jackson's Kids

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Though Michael Jackson was wed to Prince and Paris' mother, Debbie Rowe, their biological father is Arnold Klein, Jackson's L.A.-based dermatologist and Rowe's former boss, multiple sources confirm to the new issue of Us Weekly.

"He is the dad," says a Jackson insider. "He and Debbie signed an agreement saying they would never reveal the truth."

Though neither Rowe nor Jackson ever confessed to their kids' true lineage, she did admit in 2002 that she carried his children as a personal favor (and would not confirm that the marriage was ever consummated).

"I said, 'Let me do this. You need to be a dad. You have been so good to me,'" Rowe -- who met Jackson when she was a nurse's assistant in the 1980s -- has said.

Klein would not give a comment to Us.

Mandy Moore: I Married My 'Best Friend'

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Mandy Moore wasn't sure she ever wanted to be married – until she met her now-husband Ryan Adams.

But before she fell for the fellow singer, "I didn't know if marriage was something that was super important to me," Moore, 25, tells Women's Health. When she finally decided to go through with it, "I didn't take the decision lightly. I ventured into it realistically. But life takes you places you wouldn't have expected. I'm really content with what was in the cards for me."

Especially when it comes to Adams, 34, someone she calls "my best friend, someone I have so much respect for."

Moore's March wedding to Adams was very low-key: an eight minute ceremony held at a small chapel in Savannah, Ga., only a month after her engagement was announced. "A big celebration was never my cup of tea," she says. "It was never important for a wedding to be about anything other than me and my partner."

Likewise, Moore says her life with Adams is a calm one. "We're [just] quiet people who live a normal, boring life."

With a new album, Amanda Leigh, and a new husband, Moore has left her teen queen days behind, even though people still won't let her escape her "Candy" past.

While she gets that "people have preconceived notions of who I am or what I do, I do find it bizarre that people find it bizarre that I've grown up."

Kid Rock Dating Kellie Pickler & Sheryl Crow?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sexy songstress Kellie Pickler is reportedly in the midst of a white-hot romance with musician Kid Rock — another spies believe the “American Badass” star is carrying on a love affair of his own with Sheryl Crow!

“The romance between Kellie and Kid has been the worst-kept secret in Nashville,” a country music industry insider spilled to The Globe this week.

The 23-year-old blonde, who got her start as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, dated hockey player Jordin Tootoo for nine months in 2007 before the athlete was caught cheating on her. According to The Globe, the country-rap-rockin’ Kid — who has constantly complained about having a “built-in bimbo attractor chip — began romancing Kellie after the two joined forces for a five-day USO concert tour for U.S. troops in the Middle East and Kosovo last December.

Despite his alleged romance with Kellie, whispers are also abound that Kid, 38, has been cozying up to his rumored former flame Sheryl Crow, 47. Sheryl and Kid met in 2001, when the stars collaborate on the Top 10 hit single “Picture.” They’ve managed to reignite reports that they are dating after turning up the heat during a duet at the CMT Music Awards on June 16.

“Seeing Kid with Sheryl makes you wonder if he’s hooking up with both women! They’ve always been coy about their relationship.” the spy jokes.

Adios Vibe Magazine....

Vibe magazine, the urban-music magazine founded in 1993 by Quincy Jones, is the latest victim of the media recession. Multiple sources both within and outside the magazine confirmed that it is shutting down.

Reached for comment, chief financial officer Angela Zucconi said, "We will be making a statement by the end of the day. That's all I can say at this point." She referred further questions to CEO Steve Aaron, who was not immediately available. Messages left for editor in chief Danyel Smith and publishers Edgar Hernandez were not immediately returned.

Vibe enjoyed significant success in the late '90s and early part of this decade as hip hop and R&B became the nation's predominant forms of pop music. But in recent years the title has fallen on hard times under its new owner, the Wicks Group, which bought it in 2006. In February, it reduced its circulation and publishing frequency, cut salaries and moved employees to a four-day workweek to save money.

The series premiere of HBO's Hung delivered 2.8 million viewers in its 10 p.m. timeslot Sunday. When its midnight replay is added, the series drew 3.7 million viewers its first night. That makes Hung, a drama about a down-on-his-luck high school coach who becomes a gigolo, the highest rated HBO series premiere since John From Cincinnati, which premiered in June 2007 after The Sopranos series finale. (Click here to watch a clip and find out what critics thought of Hung.)

While John From Cincinnati didn't last past the first season, Hung could take a cue from its own lead-in, True Blood. The vampire drama premiered last September with just 1.44 million viewers, but has since morphed into the network's top original drama.

Sunday's installment of True Blood was the series' best, bringing in 3.7 million viewers in its 9 p.m. timeslot, and 5.1 million once the 11 p.m. replay is factored in.

Michael Jackson = Ratings Gold

BET Awards/MJ Tribute Draws Big Ratings

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sunday's BET Awards, hastily transformed into a tribute to Michael Jackson three days after his death, could be the highest-rated broadcast in the 27-year history of the black-oriented cable network. Yet the show provoked scathing reaction from bloggers and viewers who found some elements, including host Jamie Foxx's constant promotion of his album and upcoming tour, distasteful and offensive.

The live broadcast drew about 10.2 million viewers, a 61% increase over its audience last year, according to Nielsen Media Research. An estimated 10% of televisions that were on at that time were tuned to the ceremony, which Nielsen said was an unusually high number for a cable network. The ceremony featured several salutes to Jackson by Foxx, Ne-Yo and others.

Highlighting the show was the first public appearance by Janet Jackson since her brother's death. She walked on stage near the end of the show and emotionally thanked fans for their condolences and support. She was not joined on stage by her father, Joe Jackson, who was in the audience at the Shrine Auditorium.

Despite the salutes, many viewers and bloggers said they were offended by elements of the show, taking special aim at Foxx, who performed three numbers and participated in a sketch with Martin Lawrence.

Nightline Kicks O'Brien/Letterman Asses Thanks to MJ

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Now it’s not just David Letterman beating Conan O’Brien. It’s “Nightline,” too.

The ABC newsmagazine finished No. 1 in late night three straight nights last week, buoyed in large part by coverage of the death of Michael Jackson.

On Friday night “Nightline” averaged 4.19 million total viewers, well ahead of NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien,” which drew 3.72 million, and CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” which drew 3.09 million.

That’s according to Nielsen fast affiliate numbers. “Nightline” also won Wednesday night, with a program that followed a special primetime town hall meeting focused on President Barack Obama’s healthcare proposal, and Thursday night, with a program focused on Jackson’s death.

Wednesday’s “Nightline” averaged 4.25 million total viewers to O’Brien’s 3.66 million and Letterman’s 3.23 million.

Thursday's "Nightline" averaged 5.26 million, its best since election day, to Letterman's 4.36 million and O'Brien's 3.94 million.

It marks a comeback for the ABC program, which had been all but forgotten as Letterman and O’Brien duked it out for late-night supremacy during the latter’s first three weeks on the job.

O’Brien took over for Jay Leno earlier this month, and while he got off to a strong start, his numbers among total viewers quickly dwindled.

By O’Brien’s third week, Letterman had overtaken him by a small margin in total viewers thanks to a much-publicized row with Sarah Palin, though the NBC host still holds a large lead among adults 18-49.

But Jackson’s death throws another wrinkle into what’s quickly become the summer’s biggest TV story, the competition between Letterman and O’Brien.

“Nightline” has been following the Jackson story closely and likely will continue to do so in the coming days, as more details from his autopsy leak out.

MJ's Former Nanny, Grace Rwaramba, releases a statement

June 30th, 2009

“Michael Jackson was an exceptional Human Being. He was gifted, deeply compassionate and brought joy to the lives of so many. He loved his family dearly, and above all, his beautiful children.

In addition to being my employer over the past 17 years and entrusting the care of his beloved children to me, he was my dear friend. While our friendship had challenges, as do all friendships, he was loyal to the end. I cherish and honor his memory.

I am shocked, hurt and deeply saddened by recent statements the press has attributed to me, in particular, the outrageous and patently false claim that I “routinely pumped his stomach after he had ingested a dangerous combination of drugs". I don’t even know how to pump a stomach!! In addition, I have never spoken to the Times Online, the original source of the story that has now been picked up worldwide. The statements attributed to me confirm the worst in human tendencies to sensationalize tragedy and smear reputations for profit.

I convey my heartfelt and deepest condolences to Prince, Paris, Blanket and the entire Jackson family. The pain and sorrow I feel over the loss of Michael pales in comparison to what has been taken from them forever.”

US Weekly Tries to stop $120G deal for Kendra Wilkinson's wedding pics after Michael Jackson's death

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

WEDDINGS are big sellers for the entertainment weeklies, so US Weekly dropped $120,000 on exclusive rights to Kendra Wilkinson (above) and Hank Baskett's nuptials in LA last weekend. But Michael Jackson's death quashed plans to run it on the cover. "They were trying to get out of paying so much because they have to put Michael on the cover," a source said. "But the documents were already signed." A rep for US would only say, "The wedding pictures were purchased after Michael died."

Limp Bizkit Cancel First U.S. Performance in Eight Years. brb. shaking & crying.

On July 10th, the original Limp Bizkit -- frontman Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto and DJ Lethal -- were to play their first U.S. show together in eight years, part of the bare-knuckles, blood-gushing Ultimate Fighting Championship 100 weekend.

"We always thought that the UFC and Limp Bizkit's music go hand in hand," Durst, a fan of the sport since it began airing on PayPerView, tells Spinner from a European tour stop. However, Limp Bizkit was forced to cancel the gig this past weekend when the UFC and the band's label, Interscope, could not reach an agreement over DVD rights.

The Bizkit camp also thought the layout of the one-off show -- a stage in front of one of Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay's many pools -- was not the best location for the band's first show back in the U.S., and were opting for the casino's House of Blues. In a statement, the band assured fans, "We are proud to announce that we will still be performing on the same night out of respect for our fans. The details of when and where will follow shortly after this post."

I spent a vacation in NH with a couple of these guys about 6 or 7 years ago. They're friends of my friend's family..if that makes any sense. I've never been a fan of the band and lets just say hanging out with them didn't change that.

David Gest tells The Sun stories about his 40 year friendship with Michael Jackson

To the world, Michael Jackson was an enigma. While his music dazzled and amazed, his behaviour often baffled and shocked.

But to TV star and music producer David Gest, one of the people who knew the King Of Pop best, Jackson was a loyal friend who made him laugh and gave him memories to treasure.

In the second part of his exclusive interview with The Sun, David reflected on his 40-year friendship with Jackson, who died last Thursday aged 50.

David, 56, said: “There is nobody who knew Michael like I did. He was so gifted, it’s hard for me to picture him gone. There is a whole side to him people never saw.

“For instance, people always think of him as talking in that high, soft voice, but he didn’t really speak like that — it was a facade.

“Still to this day I am not sure why he did it. The Michael I knew talked like a real man, acted like a real man and shook a hand like a real man.”

If I have shaken David Gests hand, does that mean by proxy I've shaken Michaels? <:(

EDIT: If I was friends with someone for 40 years, I think I would have a little more respect for their memory than to talk to The Sun of all publications about said friendship. <:/

Jens Lekman has Swine Flu :(

Adorable Swedish indie ~rawker~ has the swine flu! He writes on his blog:

I picked home one last souvenir from South America, it's called the H1N1 virus. Wrongfully known as the Swineflue.

I was crossing the Atlantic when things started getting really bad, the fever was hallucinogenic and shaking me like a leaf and I grabbed the sleeve of the Air France steward. "I'm not feeling well, I should see a doctor" I said and the reply came as a brilliant mix of death anxiety and french rudeness: "Uh, yes... Terminal D... go there maybe... when we land". After that the stewards and stewardesses took long detours. A ring of empty seats formed around me. Peoples eyes were kind but determined, they read "Poor you, I really wish you all the best but if you come near me or my kid I will have to stab you with this plastic fork". I got up and went to the bathroom where I fainted.

Now I'm in quarantine for ten days. I can see the summer through my window and it's just perfect. Summer is always best through a window.

I LOVE HIM SFM. I hope he gets better soon :(

'Twilight' Beauty - The Movie Saga to Launch Vampy Makeup Line

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Talk about blood red! LunaTwilight lipstick. Photo courtesy of Twilight Beauty

What Robert Pattinson is to Hollywood, "Twilight Beauty" will be to the makeup world. In other words, brace yourself for mass hysteria.
Stephenie Meyer's book series and the "Twilight" film saga have inspired a range of beauty products.
You were probably as enraptured as I was by the vampires' sparkly skin, flushed cheeks and juicy lips (especially Edward Cullen's).

So it's beyond fitting -- and frankly, brilliant -- that the phenomenon has spawned Twilight Beauty, which consists of two collections.

Creating the movie-tied makeup is Cristina Bartolucci, famous for her innovative beauty brand, DuWop. (Lip Venom ring a bell?)

Word is there will be a special "Twilight" edition of the cult-favorite lip plumper with one half of the tube's vial's contents resembling blood.

Better yet, the cast apparently wears the makeup in the second movie installment: "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" out November 20.

I got a sneak peek at both collections, LunaTwilight and Volturi, and while I'm still barely able to catch my breath (major "Twilight" fan here), I'll hit you with the highlights.

LunaTwilight is the more luxurious of the two offerings -- the packaging is heartbreakingly gorgeous and the formulas are more sophisticated than the alternate collection.

I hate to tease you with some of the the product names before they're available, but let's be honest, I can't help myself and you can't wait: "First Light Body Glow," "Mortal Glow Blushing Creme" and Color Palettes in "Bella," "Rosalie," "Alice" and "Victoria." (I can't wait to see "Alice" -- she was my favorite.)

Volturi, the other Twilight Beauty collection, will strike a chord with those who've read the book.

The Volturi is the most feared and powerful coven of vampires, and that same dark, exciting sensibility can be felt in its products.

The Volturi family crest appears on the packaging and some standouts include "Deity Body Lotion," "Immortal Body Shimmer" and "Crown Mascara" (shown left).

Everything I've seen can only be described as elegant and wicked.

Twilight Beauty will be available on its own site: TwilightBeauty.com, which isn't live yet and an official launch date for the products has not been announced (though, it looks like it will be timed around the movie's release), so stay tuned.

Mike and Trent are back! Universal has debuted the first trailer for Couples Retreat on Apple today. Just looking at the cast, I'd say this is the ensemble comedy of the year. Here are the four couples: Kristen Bell and Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and Kristin Davis, Vince Vaughn and Malin Akerman, and Faizon Love and Kali Hawk. This seems like one hell of a wild, quirky, fun comedy, what more can I say? It also looks a lot like Forgetting Sarah Marshall but with four couples instead of just one. Upping the ante, so to say. I'm certainly looking forward to this. And don't forget, A.R. Rahman is scoring Couples Retreat as well. Enjoy!

Jane Fonda "Heart Attack Is The Kindest Death For Michael

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is the longest I’ve gone without blogging for some time. But sometimes you just have to let life play itself out without comment. Like so many people, I have been in a wash of images and feelings about Michael Jackson. I knew him as well as one could know him during the time before he did “The Whiz” and up through “Thriller.” I couldn’t pretend to understand him. There were so many complicated signals. Did he want me to be his ‘older women’ friend. He gravitated to older women. For solace? Succor? A beard? Did he want me to teach him the ropes? I never could quite figure it out. But I remember one day he was visiting me at my ranch north of Santa Barbara. It was the first time he had been in that region but he must have liked it because later he bought his ranch in that same area. Anyway, as we walked around the ranch which was perched right at the edge of the mountain overlooking Goleta, I pointed to a spot where I told him I wanted to be buried. Michael had a melt down right then and there when he heard this. He shrieked and bent over and said “no, no, no!” “ What’s the matter,” I asked. “Don’t ever talk about your dying,” he answered. “Don’t ever think about it.”

I think about death all the time. I rehearse my death. I think that’s a healthy thing to do. Death, after all, is what gives life meaning the way noise gives meaning to silence. Ooooh, I thought to myself, Michael will have a hard time of it as he ages. He will spend all his energy trying to flee what is inevitable. And now it’s happened. I like the fact that it was quick. Massive heart attacks that you don’t recover from are quick. You don’t know what hit you. That’s probably the kindest death for Michael. It’s hard to imagine him being happy as he aged. One more demon to try and evade. I like to think he’s happy now, free of his demons. Free and floating and knowing how his art continues to be revered and celebrated by all of us all over the world. It will continue.

Usher: The Kid Is Not My Son

It looks like the divorce between Usher and Tameka Foster is going to go down in history as your typical, hideous blood bath.

According to the National Enquirer, Usher has requested a DNA test for the younger son that he had allegedly fathered with Foster. According to one of those pesky “unnamed source” people, Usher believed that Tameka was cheating during the time that the child was conceived. Also, he travelled quite a bit for work, leaving little time for procreation.

"From the moment wife Tameka told him she was pregnant with 6-month-old Naviyd, the R&B singer was suspicious, reveals insiders. “The first thing Usher said was, ‘How did this happen?’ - because he was gone a lot, and their sex life was very, very limited,” revealed a friend of the star. Now pals are urging Usher to determine paternity with a DNA test, reveals a source. “People have been telling him that around the time the little boy was conceived, Tameka got together with another man.”

Usher loves both his sons and is going to fight for custody, divulged his friend. “But he’s determined to get truthful answers.” Meanwhile, Tameka is fighting back hard - charging that 30-year-old Usher has been playing around, revealed an insider.

“Tameka also insists that Usher is Naviyd’s father. She says that although they weren’t spending much time together, they did get together for one night of passion. And that’s when she got pregnant.”… By the time Naviyd was born this past December, the couple was reportedly already separated. “now the war is truly on,” said the insider."

Michael Jackson Set To Top The Charts

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Less than one week after Michael Jackson’s untimely passing, the pop star is poised to return to the top of the charts.

According to Billboard, three of the pop star’s albums “Number Ones,” “The Essential Michael Jackson” and “Thriller” pulled in huge numbers following his death. Each album sold 100,000 copies last week. The week prior to his death, the singer only sold 10,000 albums from his entire catalog.

The King of Pop could also be on track to hold anywhere between six to nine of the top slots on Billboard’s Top Pop Catalog chart with “Off the Wall, “Bad,” “Dangerous” and his box set “The Ultimate Collection” also selling well.
The Jackson 5’s sales have also been affected by Jackson’s death. “The Ultimate Collection” and “20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection” have both been moving fast.

The only other music artists to hold so many concurrent top 10 titles were AC/DC and the Beatles, who have each held five of the top spots, Billboard reported.

Jackson reportedly scored the majority of his sales through digital downloads. Billboard sources said his “Essential Michael Jackson,” “Number Ones” and “Thriller,” each sold more than 30,000 digital copies, with “Essential” moving an impressive 70,000 online downloads.
Jackson is also expected to rule the Hot Digital Songs chart with 1.8 million songs downloaded last week. Fans bought “Man in the Mirror,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Billie Jean” and “Smooth Criminal” in big numbers.

Official Nielsen SoundScan’s sales numbers will be released on Wednesday.

Lawyer: Debbie Rowe Is Biological Mom

A lawyer for Debbie Rowe is denying reports that she is not the biological mother of two of Michael Jackson's children, Prince, 12 and Paris, 11. (Jackson's youngest son, Prince Michael II, 7, was born to an unnamed surrogate.)

"We refuse to be drawn into addressing the various rumors and speculation swirling in the media," said Rowe's attorney Marta Almli. "The vast majority of what is out there is untrue. Particular hurtful and insidious is the most recent rumor — which is entirely false — concerning the maternity of the children. Ms. Rowe is the biological mother of the two oldest children."

Hayden Panettiere Drops Towel In New Film

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Hayden Panettiere isn't afraid to bare it all – at least not on set.

"If I can't flaunt it at 20, come on!" Panettiere said while promoting her new film I Love You, Beth Cooper, in theaters July 10. "I mean I might as well show it now."

In the movie, Panettiere plays unattainable Beth Cooper, a high school cheerleader and the object of dorky Denis Cooverman's (played by Paul Rust) affection, and in one locker room scene, the actress drops her towel.

"It didn't bother me much," Panettiere said of shooting the "reveal." "I think when the person who's doing it gets all uncomfortable and shy, then it's other people around who get more uncomfortable because they're uncomfortable. I mean I was fine – everyone was really professional."

Even so, Panettiere said she still deals with body image issues.

"The older I get, the more comfortable I get with it," she added, "but I still have my days where I don't feel great ... and I'm having my fat day where I have to put something baggy on and sweatpants. Or just with the way people perceive me. I have plenty of insecurities."

But she tries to maintain a healthy lifestyle, she said. "I have the body that I have and that's not going to change," she said. "I try to stay as healthy as I can."

Panettiere now is gearing up for season four of Heroes, which returns to NBC in late September.

Quincy not attending MJ's funeral/Timberlake remembers Michael

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Quincy Jones -- who helped launched Michael Jackson's career -- says he won't be attending the late King of Pop's funeral set for Sunday.

"I won't go to any more funerals as long as I live," he tells Entertainment Tonight. "I can't handle it."

In a revealing blog for the Los Angeles Times: "[Michael] was so shy he'd sit down and sing behind the couch with his back to me while I sat there with my hands over my eyes with the lights off," Jones writes.

He says he and Jackson had just two months to record a follow-up album after Wall.

Timberlake reflected on the times — like when Jackson performed with 'NSYNC at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards — he shared with the pop legend.

"The thing about Michael is the memories," he told MTV U.K. "I'm lucky enough to have memories — actually, physically — with him onstage and off."

Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell have filmed cameos on the comedy, which stars America Ferrera as an awkward magazine assistant.

A rep for Boyle told the Sun: "Susan has many offers on the table. At the moment she is looking forward to recording her album."

Little Mermaid to close on Broadway Aug. 30

Disney's lavish Broadway musical, The Little Mermaid, will end Aug. 30 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, but the producer is sending her to wider waters. A national tour will launch in fall 2010.

The stage version of the hit animated film borrowed Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's movie songs and added new songs by Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater. Opera director Francesca Zambello directed. Tony Award winner Faith Prince has recently stepped into the show as sea witch Ursula, one of the few character who didn't "swim" across the stage on roller-skate-like sneakers.

There is talk in the theatre community that the Lunt-Fontanne will be the home of the new musical The Addams Family starting in early 2010, but that could not be confirmed at press time.

The Little Mermaid will have played 50 previews and 685 performances by the time it closes.

All tickets sold for performances Sept. 1 and beyond are fully refundable at the original point of purchase. Tickets purchased via Ticketmaster phones or internet will automatically be refunded. Tickets purchased through any other means (including, but not limited to, the Box Office, as part of a group or a Ticketmaster Outlet), should be returned to the original point of purchase to receive a refund or to exchange for an alternate performance prior to Aug. 30.

Actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean) has confirmed that he will play a good guy in the Deathly Hallows films, although he will not reveal the name of his character.

Bill had this to say:

"I don't think I'm allowed to say it but I'm going to be in the next Harry Potter film," he tells us. "I won't say which character, but he's a goodie. I just got the gig."

He has admitted that he has not read the books yet, though:

"Not yet, but I will!" he says. "It's rather like being in a Shakespeare that way, you know?"

David Yates said two years ago that he first wanted Bill for the role of Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour in Half-Blood Prince, but the part was cut from the final draft of the script. However, there is no proof at the moment that Bill may have been cast as the Minister. We will have more on this as the story develops.

Taylor from NYC Prep blogs about tonight's episode

Taylor talks about her date with Sebastian, and the awkward run-in with her ex Cole.

How did you all like the second episode? I think this episode enabled you to glimpse into my life a little further although, trust me, you don’t really know me yet, hopefully soon you will though.
You at least got to see how awkward I could be, while I was on my first date with Sebastian. If I learned anything from this episode it’s that I laugh way to much, it was even making me uncomfortable. I guess that’s because I find every aspect of life fascinating, plus I can really entertain myself, even in the most boring of situations with my thoughts alone.

Anyways, the date went well and I enjoyed getting to know Sebastian further. Even though he can be portrayed as a player, he really is a great guy. Just like my ex, Cole. Even though you guys didn’t get to know him, he really is one of the best guys I know. It was still, of course, awkward when he showed up at Zoe’s party simply because I will always have feelings for Cole. He was the first guy I really liked and when you put him in a room with me and a guy I’m seeing, there is going to be some tension. I tend to create this type of awkward moments a lot, as you will see as we head further into the season. The funny thing is that I don’t really mind them all that much. So even as awkward as it was, the party was still enjoyable.

I was pretty glad when Cole left though because Sebastian seemed like he was getting a bit upset. Sort of like how I was feeling when Camille and Kelli were bombarding me with questions about my date with Sebastian. I don’t usually kiss and tell and I tend to keep my feelings to myself, I just don’t feel like everything needs to be shared. But apparently Kelli and Camille both want to just know “all the gossip.” If knowing the “juicy tidbits of others lives” makes them happy, then whatever, let them gossip. I just might have to restrain from shopping trips with them as I like my shopping trips to be quick and peaceful, as shopping gives me enough angst to start out with (I really am not a fan of shopping unless I’m looking for something in particular).

Also, shopping at intermix didn’t make it any better. I’m sorry, but spending $500 on a shirt when in a third world country where a child only needs $500 to survive for an entire year disgusts me. I truly hope all of you feel that way as well.
I hope you all enjoyed this episode and got to know me a little bit better! Talk to you next week!
Love, Taylor Paige

Feel-free to discuss the episode.

Kristin Cavallari - The Hills Spoof.

By now you know Kristin Cavallari will be filling the space left by Lauren Conrad on the next season of “The Hills,” but before she does that she’ll be appearing as one part of a love triangle in the direct-to-DVD flick, “Van Wilder: Freshman Year.”

To promote the film’s release (on July 14), Cavallari and her “Van Wilder” co-stars whipped up a fun little take on “The Hills,” aptly titled “Decatur” (the area the movie takes place in). Laugh it up in the video below, and then click here to watch a clip featuring Kristin in “Van Wilder: Freshman Year.”

Jerry Springer apologizes

Jerry Springer has admitted that he is unsure why his television series is still on the air.

The US chatshow, infamous for its fights between guests, has been running for 19 years. The 65-year-old has hosted the programme since its inception in 1991 and said that he is puzzled by the attraction it holds for viewers, Contactmusic reports.

He said: "We've been doing this show for 19 years now and I'm really sorry for that. No-one had any idea that it would last all these years."

It was recently reported that a proposed move of the Jerry Springer Show from its current location in Chicago to Connecticut was met with opposition from locals.

LOL, apology accepted jerry. you've been providing us with tasteless and trashy entertainment for almost 20 years, why stop now!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

She may be more famous for her personal life than her career, but Lindsay Lohan insists she is a “workaholic.”

“It’s not that hard to be me, but I do work harder than most of my friends’ parents. I’m a workaholic. I don’t know what to do when I’m not working. I get creatively frustrated,” the star says in a new chat with Britain’s OK! Magazine.

“I am the hardest-working person I know,” she adds

marilyn manson wants gaga

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
'Beautiful People' rocker Marilyn Manson - whose on/off relationship with actress Evan Rachel Wood recently ended - is desperate to take his friendship with the 'Poker Face' singer further.

As the two singers - who met last year when they recorded covers of each other's upcoming material - watched Gaga passionately kiss a male model in the video clip for her new song 'Paparazzi', the 40-year-old musician moaned and said: "I'd like to be that guy. I'll give you a cervical exam."

The alternative musician is also a fan of the 23-year-old singer's unique image because he sees himself in her.

He told Britain's Observer newspaper: "I was most impressed by her paparazzi photos. I thought that it looked the way that rock stars should look, as exciting as something that Warhol or Dali would do.

EARLY salary figures from Simon Cowell's "American Idol" contract negotiations are leaking out and they're eye-popping.

Cowell, who reportedly made $36 million last year for judging the hit competition show, has been offered three or four times that amount -- between $100 million and $144 million per year -- by co-producers Fox and 19 Entertainment to stick with "Idol" when his contract expires next May, according to The Guardian, a London newpaper. (I AM ASSUMING THEY MEANT NEWSPAPER. TYPO SPOTTED)

Fox declined yesterday to comment about the salary negotiations.

German choreographer Pina Bausch dies

Pina Bausch, a German choreographer known for her pioneering work, died Tuesday. She was 68.

The Wuppertal Dance Theater in western Germany, where she had served as director, announced the death. It did not give the cause, but said Bausch's "unexpectedly fast" death came five days after a cancer diagnosis.

"We have lost with Pina Bausch a wonderful artist, a world class dancer and choreographer and last but not least a prominent representative of German culture," German President Horst Koehler said in a statement.

Born on July 27, 1940, in Solingen, Germany, Bausch started her dance studies at the Folkwang School in Essen and trained at the Juilliard School of Music in New York.
She danced at the New American Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera in New York before returning to Germany in 1962.
Back home, Bausch joined the Folkwang Ballet in Essen, where her own choreography became part of the program in 1968. Five years later, she became director and choreographer of the newly founded Wuppertal theater.

An innovative creator of striking, absurdist scenes, Bausch won Britain's Laurence Olivier Award in 2006 for outstanding achievement in dance. She was honored for her productions "Carnations" and "Palermo Palermo."
In 2007, she won Japan's Kyoto Prize for arts and philosophy for her pioneering work in developing a new genre of ballet.

The Wuppertal theater said Bausch and her company last appeared on stage in the German city June 21.
Details of survivors and funeral arrangements were not immediately available.

Most of you probably have never heard of her, but she was a genius, an innovator and simply an extraordinary woman. RIP.

Beverly Merrill's Two Lines

Real Housewife Danielle Staub's Two Lines of Coke on All My Children.

When Beverly Merrill Danielle Staub showed her modeling pictures to her kids in the season finale of RHONJ, she said she was on All My Children. Turns out she was a day player in 2001: One scene, with two lines.

Fergie's husband Josh Duhamel was there, though.

Sorry, video won't embed, but you can find it at the source and also here

Dare I say it, she didn't look so bad then.

The Dandy Warhols release a statement regarding lyrics talking about Michael Jackson's death

The Dandy Warhols' album Welcome to the Monkey House (2003) starts with an intro that includes the line "When Michael Jackson dies, we're covering Blackbird".

(Blackbird, obviously, is a Beatles track and Michael Jackson had the publishing rights for the Beatles catalogue)

Hey. Since the tragic news of Mr. Jackson’s passing yesterday, we here at The Odditorium have been besieged with requests of the status of The Dandys’ cover of The Beatles’ “Blackbird”, as foretold, and some would say, fore-promised (that’s probably not a word), in the title track of our 2003 album Welcome To The Monkey House. Please note that this was not an anticipated event and we had no cover of “Blackbird” all rearin’ to go. I mean, how could we? With both Courtney and Fathead currently out of town we cannot say when we will be able to get to this cover of “Blackbird”, but we will, as soon as we are all together and able, since we have come to find that it means so much to a lot of you.

We thank you for your continued love and patience. Much love back, on behalf of The Dandy Warhols and all of us here at the Odditorium in Portland.

NGL, that track was the very first thing on my head when I read about MJ's death. :|
Also, what's your favourite Beatles cover? Which song would you like to hear covered and by who?

MMJ's frontman, Jim James, releasing George Harrison tribute EP under the name Yim Yames

As reported yesterday, My Morning Jacket's Jim James (under the name Yim Yames) is slated to release his first solo offering on August 4 - a tribute to the late Beatle George Harrison. Fans will be able to get a taste of the entire EP starting on July 7 when the set becomes available via Yimyames.com for purchase. One track, "Behind That Locked Door," is available now as a free download on the website. Pre-orders for CD and vinyl versions will start on July 7 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary.

"I felt like I was in the weirdest head space when I did that EP," James tells Billboard.com of the 2001 recording session that took place just days after Harrison's death. "I felt really confused a lot of the time. I wanted to just do it and let it come out even if I messed stuff up. It's definitely not the tightest or most professional recording you're ever going to hear in your life but I like that. I think it lends it a more childish atmosphere."

Queen of Country pays tribute to the King of Pop

Country music legend (and fellow plastic surgery enthusiast), Dolly Parton, has posted a vlog remembering the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In her message Dolly urges everyone to cherish every moment of their lives and the people in their lives. The video ends with a photo of the two icons together.

Now if only we can get comments from Lily Tomlin so that all the principals from 9 to 5 will have honored MJ

This is a Karl Urban post

I don't even know what to say about these pics of Star Trek's Karl Urban from the Australian Supanova Pop Culture Expo without risking PopWrap's PG-rating.

So, like a jumbled set of magnetic poetry, let me give you a few words to reassemble and reuse however you'd like: Boldly Going Where No Man Has Gone Before, Vulcan Death Grip, Bones, Set Phasers To, Sulu, Tractor Beam.

Someone asked him if he'd ever consider any "full blown comedy roles" and he said "What do you mean by "blown"? and when that got a big laugh he mimed wiping the corners of his mouth, and when that went down well (I don't think we were the only slashers in the room) he stuck the entire microphone in his mouth as well. And then went something like "That wasn't very clever, I don't know where that's been."
