Kerry Katona's troublesome relationship with Mark Croft has left her on the brink of suicide and heavily addicted to cocaine, a friend of the star has claimed.
The former Atomic Kitten has also been binging on amphetamines and anti-depressants to numb her emotional pain, reports the News Of The World.
Katona apparently told friends: "Cocaine is the only way I can function. It's the only way I can get this sorted."
The paper said that the 28-year-old embarks on three-day binges, and took seven grams of cocaine during one session alone.
"Kerry is completely addicted to drugs. It is worse than ever and she is close to the edge. She takes them all day every day. She simply can't cope without her fix," a friend said.
Katona announced that she was divorcing Croft last week after the couple reportedly argued about money.
They have since reconciled, despite Katona's claims that Croft had "bled [her] dry".Source

Greg Grungberg updated his Twitter a few minutes ago with a link to this site where you hover over different areas of the screen with Hugh Laurie, Teri Hatcher, Milo Ventomiglia, Hayden Pannettiere, Gary Oldman, Jane Kaczmarek and what looks like Julie Benz (I could be wrong) so far telling us to 'Talk About It', what has yet to be confirmed is what is supposed to be talked about. Well, according to Greg, it will be revealed on Thursday.

I love Greg Grunberg, idk why he isn't higher on the Twitter celebs list. This obviously has something to do with the Epilepsy Walk in DC he's been pimping out.
PLANS are under way for pop superstar Britney Spears to make her first Australian tour.
Leading concert promoters are in talks with the US singer, and tour dates are expected to be scheduled for later this year.
"All the promoters are vying for it, but the bottom line is she really wants to come here and she really wants to come here this year," Sony Australia boss Denis Handlin said.
Handlin spoke to Barry Weiss, the head of Spears' American record label, last week about the tour.
"I think the promoters are battling it out at the moment," he said.
Frontier Touring's Michael Gudinski confirmed he was in discussions with Spears' management.
Gudinski said several promoters had been chasing Spears.
"I don't expect anything will be worked out or finalised for a month, but we're in there," he said.
Spears began her new Circus tour in New Orleans earlier this month.
The stadium spectacular features a rotating stage, acrobats, special effects and a greatest-hits set.
"It will be one of the biggest concert productions to come here," Gudinski said.
The Circus tour opened in the US to rave reviews.
The two-hour show has four acts: Circus; House Of Fun; Freakshow/Peepshow; and Electro-Circ.
Although some critics have panned the troubled mother of two for lip-synching in the show, reviews have been mostly positive.

The set list includes her controversial new hit, If You Seek Amy.

The girls of t.A.T.u. are going their separate ways according to a statement on their official blog:
Last December a "staff meeting" attended by Yulia, Lena and Boris took place. Parties had unanimously decided to cease the "operation of t.A.T.u. in full-time mode".The message goes on to detail a large amount of forthcoming releases and information regarding the faux-lesbians' next endeavors. To summarize:
This decision was not spontaneous, it was long-grown.
For the sake of ethics I will not mention the reasons behind it, I'll just say that these have nothing to do neither with creative nor with economic aspects.
+ Their third video will still be released at the end of March.
+ Promotional duties for the ceaselessly delayed "You And I" video will continue.
+ Special editions of t.A.T.u.'s latest Russian album, Happy Smiles, will debut on Amazon.com and their official website, featuring new covers and bonus remixes.
+ The English version of the "Beliy Plaschik" video will be released.
+ Production on the international version of Happy Smiles was stopped at the end of 2008 (NO!), though the label will try to make available the English versions of songs already recorded for the scrapped release.
+ No further public performances, aside from special events including Bacardi.
+ Yulia's intentions are not known at the moment. She has disbanded from t.A.T.u.'s management after recording the English version of "220," entitled "Sparks."
+ Lena is continuing to work with t.A.T.u.'s management to pursue a solo career. The project is already titled and the website reserved, and production on the solo effort is expected to begin around late April, leadininto a single release at the second half of 2009 with an album to follow.
WHY. WHY DOES GOD ALLOW ACTS LIKE CASCADA AND SOULJA BOY TO EXIST, WHILE T.A.T.U. IS ALLOWED TO SIMPLY TO FADE AWAY?!
My foundation has been utterly shaken to its core. A small part of me has died, and I'm unsure how I'm supposed to move forward following this news.
And a solo career for Lena?! I mean--come on, she isn't even the INTERESTING one of the two!
Most of all, I blame both Katy Perry and Tila Tequila making faux bisexual the new faux lesbian.
But seriously, they made some good Pop....I'm actually a bit gutted.
MuuMuse, my blog.
I know everyone knows she's dead but IDC I like when zig when you thought they were gonna zag, if that makes sense...
And a preview of the next episode...which doesn't air until April 19th! SONUVABITCH!
Actress KRISTIN CHENOWETH had a shocking return to Broadway for her 1998 run in YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN - when security had to escort a man out of the theatre for pleasuring himself.
The Tony Award winner starred as Charlie's little sister Sally in the production, one year after making her Broadway debut - and admits she's experienced a host of awkward moments during her acting career.
Recounting the jaw-dropping moments in a new memoir, A Little Bit Wicked, she writes: "Once the security officers had to drag a guy out of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown because he was masturbating during (the song) My New Philosophy."
And although Chenoweth insists her experiences on the New York stage haven't always been so lewd, she admits theatre acting can bring a new set of challenges.
She adds: "I remember a performance of The Fantasticks where a mom brought a teenage son with Tourette's syndrome to the show. It was explained to me that because he liked me a lot, it became especially difficult for him to control his outbursts when I came on stage... Every time I said or sang anything, he would snort, howl or bellow some expletive about bodily functions or female anatomy... (and drop) F-bombs."
The book is scheduled to hit shelves in April (09).
The singer’s demo tracks for her third album, recorded in the Caribbean, have left her label less than happy.

When Curtis Jackson's new album is called HTML Hataz, know that he is talking about you, the internet masses who cried out in pain when it was announced that he would replace Forrest Whitaker in Sylvester Stallone's gimmicky new film The Expendables. The outcry was enough that, just a few days after the announcement, 50 Cent was off the movie and the angelic Terry Crews was in.
Good work, internet. Terry Crews is amazing. His participation in this movie may actually make it watchable. Unlike many of you, I've been fearing The Expendables. For a number of reasons:
- Stallone is self-destructive. Look at his career. He will make one or two good - nay, GREAT! - movies and then follow them up with complete shit. His filmography is like a yo-yo (and no, I'm not taking into account Stallone movies that are 'so bad they're good.' I'm just talking about really, honestly good Stallone movies). Sly has made two really, really good movies in a row. It's time to shit on that streak, and I know he'll do it.
- The casting is a joke. I know that this is what is getting the internet excited, but the cast for this sounds more like a fanboy's wet dream than anything really sustainable. On top of that, many of the actors cast in this film work as leads in their own movies due to their personal ridiculousness. Dolph Lundgren does not scream out 'ensemble cast' to me.
- It's a PG-13.
But Terry Crews - hell, he made Balls of Fury almost watchable. Him joining the film is the best news I've heard about it in months.
they're like the bootleg version of christopher robyn, y/n? gurl shouldn't make fuckin' for tracks so obvious.

LAUREN Conrad's clothing line is on hiatus until further notice. Los Angeles sources say the MTV reality starlet, who's wrapping up her last season on "The Hills," won't be producing any more seasons of her Lauren Conrad Collection, which launched in fall 2007. Some showrooms got a message from her camp saying, "In light of the economic climate, Lauren has decided to completely rethink her line." As a result, shipment of the last spring and summer delivery has been canceled, the memo said. Page Six previously reported that the line wasn't moving in stores like Kitson and Bloomingdale's. "Lauren is going to revamp her line and design with more high-end fabrics . . . things she couldn't do the first time around," a source close to Conrad said. Her rep told us, "With everything going on in the economy and in her life, she wants to rework her line and offerings. She will make announcements soon."

Lance Armstrong falls during race in Spain and is taken to a hospital.
edit: more info for the complainers
Armstrong reportedly fell around 20 kilometers from the finish and was seen pointing to his collarbone, CNN's Al Goodman reported from northern Spain.
Organizers said Armstrong was taken to hospital and had withdrawn from the race.
The 37-year-old Armstrong, who ended a three-year retirement to return to competitive cycling in January, walked to the ambulance unaided, television pictures from the scene showed.
A group of 15 to 20 riders fell, according to Bartosz Huzarski, a cyclist racing for the Italian team ISD. Huzarski, who saw the fall, said he did not know what had caused it. Only Armstrong appeared to indicate he was hurt, the Polish cyclist said.
An official with Armstrong's team, Astana, said he did not know the extent of the cyclist's injuries.
The fall took place a on a sunny day on a stretch of two-lane highway, Goodman said, as riders tackled the 104-mile (168-km) opening stage.

Does his casting mean the end of "Terminator" and a David Silver cameo on "90210"?
Though the "Beverly Hills 90210" vet is currently a regular on FOX's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," The CW confirms that Brian Austin Green has just secured a role in their "Body Politic" project.
The series, if green lit, will follow young government staffers living and working in Washington, D.C. Green will play Lucky, a D.C. insider who knows everyone in town.
The notorious BAG is just one of several names already attached to "Politic" including Gabrielle Union, Tim Matheson, "Friday Night Lights"' Minka Kelly, "Veronica Mars"' Jason Dohring and "Six Degrees"' Jay Hernandez.
So, does this mean Silverado will never return to Beverly Hills for an appearance as Donna Martin's loving husband on the new "90210"? Not really. He told me he is down and could easily do both.
More importantly for "Terminator" fans, does Green's "Politic" casting signal that the fate of "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" is sealed? Not necessarily. No doubt BAG's involvement in "Politic" is in second position to "T:TSCC," meaning that if "T:TSCC" gets another season, that would be his first priority. Still, the fact that he's looking around is not a good sign for the FOX show. SOURCE
Uh-oh for Terminator. Also, I predict now that BAG and Minka Kelly will be dating by the end of the year.
Where in the world is Matt Lauer? At home, recovering from a bicycle accident.
"He was riding his bike over the weekend and he had a run-in with a deer," Today show cohost Meredith Vieira explained on this morning's broadcast.
"He apparently dislocated his shoulder and he's at the doctor's this morning."
Lauer's injury occurred when, while bicycling on Long Island, the animal darted into the road in front of his pedal-pushing ride. Lauer quickly braked to avoid veering into the venison and the sudden stop sent him flying over the handlebars.
Vieira said her early morning colleague sent her an email to explain the unusual situation and air his suspicions that "the deer was hired by the competition."
"I hired the deer, but I said just graze him," she joked.
NBC News' Lester Holt filled in for the recuperating 51-year-old. It's unclear when Lauer will return to his anchor duties.
I'm sorry and good luck to him, but I think this is hilarious. Mental images galore. LOL@"Oh, deer"

The New York Times is reporting that Michael Urie will star in "The Tempermentals," a play by Jon Marans ("Old Wicked Songs"), set to begin April 30 at the Barrow Group Studio Theater.
MAN underdog presents "The Temperamentals" by Jon Marans, Off Broadway at The Barrow Group Studio Theater, 312 West 36 Street 3rd Floor. Previews begin Thursday, April 30, 2009 and the opening is Monday, May 4 at 8:00 pm for the limited engagement. It is directed by Jonathan Silverstein. The cast will soon be announced. "Temperamental" was a code word for "homosexual" in the early 1950s, part of a created language of secret words that gay men used to communicate. In this underground world, danger was always an underlying presence. But with it, a heady, intoxicating secrecy also hung in the air.
"The Temperamentals" tells the story of two men - the communist Harry Hay and the young Viennese refugee and designer Rudi Gernreich, weaving together the personal and the political to tell a relatively unknown chapter in gay history. It explores the deepening love between two complex men, while they build the first gay rights organization in the United States pre Stonewall. This is the perilous, unpredictable world these men inhabit as their impossible dream of forming such an unheard of organization becomes a reality. They must navigate their relationship in new and surprising ways. "The Temperamentals" is an intimate portrayal of the men who created history and the epic struggles they overcame. The characters consist of the actual men who founded the Mattachine Society, as well as prominent figures of the time such as Frank Tavener of the House Un-American Committee and the director Vincente Minnelli.
Performances of the limited Off Broadway engagement of "The Temperamentals" are: Friday - Monday at 8 pm and matinees on Sunday at 4 pm; with special performances on Thursday, April 30 at 8 pm and Saturday, May 2 at 2 pm through May 18. There is no performance Saturday evening 5/2.
EDIT: He's playing Rudi Gernreich. In case anyone was curious.
Chris Moyles has been censured by Ofcom for condoning negative stereotypes of gay people, after the DJ made what the media regulator ruled were derogatory comments about Will Young on his BBCRadio 1 breakfast show.
Moyles changed the lyrics of two of Young's songs, Evergreen and Leave Right Now, and sang them in "an effeminate and high pitched voice", according to Ofcom.
The Radio 1 DJ sang the spoof lyrics on his breakfast show on Young's birthday, 20 January. They included the words: "It's my birthday today, gonna wear my new dress tonight. And I smell nice. I've had a show and I've shaved my legs. Going out later, might go to Nobo for dinner. Oooh Will Young here, mmmh. I'm here, it's Will's birthday and as the years go by I get more very gay."
Other spoof lyrics inserted by Moyles included: "When you saw me years ago you didn't know, but now I'm the gayest fella you probably know. Mmm, I like to wear a silly hat, I get camper by the hour, oh would you look at the muck in here. I'm Will Young and I'm gay."
In its defence, the BBC said Young was not being ridiculed because of his sexuality, adding that Moyles' remarks were not intended to be hostile or derogatory.
However, Ofcom, in its ruling published today, said Moyles' language "could have reasonably been interpreted by listeners as promoting and condoning certain negative stereotypes based on sexual orientation".
"Although no doubt intended to be humorous, comments such as these and the manner in which they were delivered, in Ofcom's view, could reasonably have been perceived as hostile and pejorative," the regulator added.
"In Ofcom's view, the broadcast of this language by Chris Moyles, taking account of both the tone and words, had the potential to cause considerable offence."
The regulator added: "Such material runs the risk of being imitated by children, for instance in the playground, causing unnecessary distress."source

"While the pitch [to producer Joel Silver] went well and I don't think the movie's dead, right now it's looking depressing," Rob exclusively told PopWrap this morning during a chat about "Party Down," his new series. "I think honestly if we would have had the pitch ready a year earlier, it would be a go project. The hope that we would get a quick greenlight didn't materialize. Jade Goody's funeral will be screened on live television, her family have confirmed.
The celebrity Big Brother star's publicist Max Clifford said the event would be the final "Jade Goody Production", complete with the laughter and tears that marked her wedding to Jack Tweed, 21, and the christening of her young sons Bobby and Freddy.
The 27-year-old former dentistry nurse lost her battle with cancer at her home in Essex early on Sunday morning, surrounded by Tweed and her mother Jackiey Budden.
The funeral, at St John the Baptist Church in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, is expected to be held within the next two weeks and will be relayed to the public by big screen.
Mr Clifford said of the service: "Jade wanted a celebration of her life. It will be very much a Jade Goody Production with Jade doing her own thing her own way."
He said she had originally given the job of planning the funeral to one of her bridesmaids, but added: "Within a minute she was saying she didn't want that and she did want this and how she wanted it to be.
"It will be a celebration, but of course there will be a lot of tears."
He said Goody had chosen Bermondsey undertakers, "because she was always a Bermondsey girl".
After a church service the funeral cortege will process through Loughton - near her home in Upshire, Essex, he said.
He said the funeral would be a public celebration just as Jade had lived her life out in the public eye in the last seven years.
"She died the way she lived."
Speaking on Sky News, Reverend Jonathan Blake, who officiated at Goody and Tweed's marriage ceremony, called the bride, "a saint from Upshire and a princess from Bermondsey".
"My thoughts and prayers and love are very much with the family and friends. Jade has become for us, so many different things, a saint from Upshire and a princess from Bermondsey, an exemplar of biblical proportions."
He said that she had, "laughed in the face of death and given us a completely different approach to the way we deal with cancer".
He praised her "courage, grace and unselfishness", adding: "The wonder of Jade was that she was raw, honest and genius deep within. Not a superficial person as so much of life is now. She spoke what she thought sometimes to the shock and outrage of others.
"Her great sense of generosity of spirit particularly in allowing us to take a journey to the rainbow bridge between this world and the next is a source of inspiration to people and families who are going through the exact same thing."
A saint? A genius? a princess?!

"Streisand's character (in The Way We Were) is a pain in the butt. How much of her is you?"
Keira Knightley rents shoes to satisfy her footwear fetish.
The global economic downturn has forced 'The Duchess' star to cut down on the number of designer high heels she buys, so she has started borrowing shoes instead.
The 23-year-old actress said: "I think when I was very young and I suddenly started earning a bit of money and I could actually afford to buy shoes, I got very excited and bought a lot. I mean a lot!
"I haven't bought any in quite a while. Now I just rent them for the day. They give them to me for the day and I give them back in the evening, which is good."
Keira recently revealed she is only attracted to men with good taste in shoes.
The British beauty - who has been dating 'The Young Victoria' star Rupert Friend for three years - finds fancy footwear sexy and demands her lovers take pride in their feet.
She said: "I go for someone who is a little brooding and somebody you can have a good conversation with, a good fight with, who will always keep you guessing and make you laugh. And he has to have good shoes."

The LP was recorded in three days at Nashville's Sound Emporium Studio and was produced by long-term collaborator T Bone Burnett.
Rather than his regular backing group, Costello was joined by a number of American country music and bluegrass musicians for the largely acoustic effort.
The tracklisting is:
' Down Among the Wine And Spirits'
'I Felt the Chill'
'My All Time Doll'
'She Handed Me a Mirror'
'I Dreamed of My Old Lover'
'How Deep is the Red'
'She Was No Good'
'Sulfur To Sugarcane'
'The Crooked Line'
'I Felt The Chill' is Costello's second co-write with Loretta Lynn. Meanwhile, a previous version of 'Complicated Shadows' featured on 'All This Useless Beauty', while 'Hidden Shame' was previously recorded by Johnny Cash.
Closing track 'Changing Partners' was made famous by Bing Crosby.

After fueling up on juice, the expectant parents headed to CBS Studios. This will be the first child for the couple. Alyson has looked incredibly radiant and gorgeous throughout her pregnancy - even up to the very end!
Our recent daily poll predicts that Alyson will give birth at the end of this month. We can’t wait to hear the news!
I can't wait until she has the baby. I wonder what other Buffyverse actors will have babies this year, since David Boreanaz's wife is also pregnant.

David Letterman and his longtime girlfriend, Regina Lasko, have gotten hitched, Usmagazine.com has learned.
The couple tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony near their ranch in Montana Thursday, a witness at the Monday taping of his CBS Late Show tells Us.
The announcement "was about 20 minutes into the show, before the 'Top 10' list," the witness says.
According to transcript released to Us by the Late Show rep, Letterman said: "On Thursday, at 3 p.m., March 19, 2009, at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana, I was married to Regina Lasko.”
"Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, 'Well, things are going pretty good, let's just see what happens in about ten years...'"
"…I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I -- honestly, whether this happened or not -- I secretly felt that men who were married admired me…like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I'm saying?'" he joked.
The family's truck got stuck in the mud en route to the courthouse, he explained. Letterman "walked two miles back to the house in 50 mph wind," he said. "It's not Beverly Hills -- it's Montana."
"And the whole way, I'm thinking, 'See, smart ass, see you try to get married and this is what happens,'" he went on. After getting his car from home, five-year-old son, Harry, says, "'Are we still going into town?'...he got very upset because mom had told him if I wasn't back in an hour, the deal was off."
Letterman and Lasko -- who began dating in 1986 when Lasko worked for him on his show -- welcomed Harry in November 2003.
In 2007, Letterman told Oprah Winfrey that his son Harry has made a "huge difference" in his life -- but the boy doesn't always get his daddy's sense of humor.
Said Letterman, "Mommy has to tell him a lot that I'm just teasing."
Letterman was previously married for seven years to his college sweetheart Michelle Cook.Source
The people behind "The Hills" are in a legal war over the live season finale -- accused of being even trashier than the people on the show.
The guy who owns the Beverly Hills mansion where MTV shot the "Live from the Hills Season Finale" claims when he rented the place out for the show in 2008, he was promised it would be returned in "the same condition." What he got back, he claims, was a disaster area.
According to a lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Igor Greenberg claims MTV and New Productions Inc. "caused extensive damage to the property in at least the amount of $158,250.07" -- and he wants them to fork over the cash.
Sure, it's meaningless, stupid drama -- but so is everything else that has to do with that show.
"Footloose is a project we've longed to see rebooted for a new generation. While Zac in no longer attached, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of [HSM turned Footloose director] Kenny Ortega, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who will reinvigorate the franchise. Their fresh take on the film will undoubtedly be filled with the same kind of breakout performances that we've come to expect from them."
I am surprised Meron and Zadan are still attached since Zac brought them on board. I guess we'll see if they stay on.

Colbert wins NASA space station name contest
NASA's online contest to name a new room at the international space station went awry. Comedian Stephen Colbert won.
The name "Colbert" beat out NASA's four suggested options in the space agency's effort to have the public help name the addition. The new room will be launched later this year.
NASA's mistake was allowing write-ins. Colbert urged viewers of his Comedy Central show, "The Colbert Report" to write in his name. And they complied, with 230,539 votes. That clobbered Serenity, one of the NASA choices, by more than 40,000 votes. Nearly 1.2 million votes were cast by the time the contest ended Friday.
NASA reserves the right to choose an appropriate name. Agency spokesman John Yembrick said NASA will decide in April, but will give top vote-getters "the most consideration."
If NASA accepts the name (which they WILL) do you think he'll get to decorate it? Put up a plaque? I am very excited to see what will happen with this.

Chris’ close friend Tyrese spoke with People over the weekend and said, "Although he appears to be really strong through all of this, it's really taking a toll on his spirit.
"People like me and Puff, we're just trying to show him love and keep his spirits up while he's going through all of the heat, and there are a lot of people doing the same for Rihanna."
Tyrese went on to say that despite the public thinking Chris is over the situation, he’s not. He says, "It's really hard for him to focus right now on his music, even though he really wants to.
"At the end of the day, I'm not trying to justify it because wrong is wrong, but unfortunately, us as entertainers, we have to grow up on stage with a lot of people looking at us. And a lot of people forget that he's 19, she's only 21."
On the other end of the spectrum, professional martial artist Din Thomas had some choice words for Chris, and they were anything but supportive. He told the crowd during a match on Sunday, "It’s not cool to put your hands on a woman. So Rihanna, if you want someone to kick his a**, holler at me."
Yikes! We wouldn’t want to be in the ring with that guy! But the fact of the matter is, everyone has their own opinion about the situation, and none of it matters. Chris will get whatever the judge thinks is necessary when he’s arraigned April 6th.
I think the world is scrutinizing him for his seeming lack of remorse. I personally feel like we want shame to ooze from his pores***.

DirecTV has inked a deal to broadcast the short-lived TV series Eyes, Smith and The Nine — unaired episodes and all.
A Ray Liotta-fronted drama about an all-star ensemble of master thieves, Smith served up just three episodes during its original CBS run. But starting April 8, DirecTV's 101 Network will unspool all seven produced episodes, airing Wednesday nights at 10 pm/ET.
Next, The Nine will get its due. The serialized drama about the hostages of a bank robbery will have all 13 of its episodes, including four hours never seen on ABC, air on DirecTV starting May 27. The Nine's cast included Tim Daly (now a star of Private Practice), Kim Raver (in her first après-24 outing) and Scott Wolf.
Perhaps the biggest treat is in store for fans of Daly's other underappreciated TV gig, Eyes. Come July, all 12 episodes of that series — seven of which never saw the light of day — will air on DirecTV every Wednesday at 9 pm. Interestingly, Kate Walsh guested on Eyes before it got pulled, establishing a chemistry with Daly that Private Practice has (with varying degrees of success) tried to capitalize on.
All three of DirecTV's acquired series will be presented in hi-def and without commercial interruption.

Colleen Zenk Pinter's Battle with Cancer
The popular soap actress reveals the biggest challenge of her life–oral cancerBy Colleen Zenk Pinter, as told to Micki Siegel Posted March 18, 2009 from Woman’s Day; April 14, 2009
The cameras were rolling and I was trying to say my lines, but I knew I sounded like I'd had a stroke. For the last 30 years I've been playing Barbara Ryan, a feisty woman who's never at a loss for words, on As the World Turns. But now I couldn't get the words out clearly.
Viewers started writing to the show and flooding fan websites, wondering why I sounded so awful. I knew I owed them an explanation, but I just wasn't ready. I was still digesting the bad news.
On March 5, 2007–my daughter Georgia's 14th birthday–I found out that I had oral cancer. Stage 2 squamous cell carcinoma, to be exact. I remember leaving the doctor's office, picking up Georgia's birthday cake, wrapping some presents and hosting a party as if nothing had happened. I was in shock.
I thought most people who got oral cancer were men who smoked and drank heavily, and I don't fall into any of those categories. But I learned that I was probably among the fastest-growing group of oral cancer patients, because my illness was most likely caused by HPV-16, a strain of a common sexually transmitted virus that can also cause cervical cancer.( Collapse )

Port Washington - Looks like Dustin Diamond, who played geeky Screech Powers in the teen sitcom "Saved by the Bell," may be in a financial pinch again.
Diamond, 32, is being sued in Ozaukee County Circuit Court by We Energies over non-payment of $2,079.40 in utility bills at his home on Grandview Drive in Port Washington.
The suit, filed in small claims court, says Diamond racked up the charges on or before Feb. 4. Diamond has until April 15 to respond to the suit.
The one-time child actor isn't a stranger to Ozaukee County courts.
In 2006, Diamond faced losing his $340,000 home under a foreclosure order filed in Ozaukee County Circuit Court. At the time, the order demanded that he come up with the remaining $272,000 he owed under a land contract.
Diamond had said the land contract - in which the buyer agrees to make an initial payment and regular subsequent payments until the full price is paid - was one of the few options available for him in 2003 because of a bad credit record, which included a 2001 bankruptcy filing in California.
At one point, Diamond called on fans to help bail him out by buying T-shirts that said, "I paid $15.00 to save Screech's house."
Some people claimed they paid for, but never got the shirts.
Diamond ultimately was able to secure a $284,000 adjustable-rate mortgage and the foreclosure lawsuit was dismissed.
In November, Ford Motor Credit Co. sued Diamond in Ozaukee County court to recover a 2005 Ford Expedition.
A default judgment was entered in January in favor of Ford, allowing it to repossess the vehicle, according to online court records.
Diamond could not be reached for comment.
For years, you knew Seth Rogen as the wisecracking sidekick in comedies like 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin' and the TV show 'Freaks and Geeks.' But then came lead roles in 'Knocked Up' and 'Pineapple Express,' and suddenly, Rogen is -- dare we say it? -- hot, starring in not one but three big '09 movies: the animated 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and comedies 'Observe and Report' and 'Funny People.'
He's appeared on the covers of Vanity Fair and Playboy, hit the SXSW and talk-show circuit ... Heck, he's even got Lindsay Lohan complaining that he won't call her back.
Even with so much on his plate, the former stand-up comedian good-naturedly fields our questions about his various movie projects (including the much-anticipated 'Green Hornet'), his newly svelte figure and the shocking revelation that he may, in fact, be sexier than Brad Pitt.

People claiming to be friends of the actress have told Star magazine that she finished the affair after discovering Mayer, 31, spent hours on the networking website, despite telling her he was too busy to get in touch with her.
A source claimed Aniston decided Mayer was not committed enough to her and called time on their romance having found hourly updates on his Twitter page.
The source said: "John suddenly stopped calling her or returning her emails and when she would finally catch up with him, he'd say: 'I've been so busy with work. I'm sorry I haven't had time to call you back."
The source added: "Jen was fuming. There he was, telling her he didn't have time for her and yet his page was filled with Twitter updates.
"Every few hours, sometimes minutes, he'd update with some stupid line. And in her mind, she was like 'He has time for all this Twittering, but he can't send me a text, an email, make a call?'."
It has also been claimed musician John made no attempt to cover up his Twitters.
The source said: "He didn't even deny it. He knew he was avoiding her. So when she called him on it and ended things, he just said OK, and that he was sorry it didn't work out.
"He took the break-up like a man." Even so, shortly after Aniston's call, Mayer's Twitter update read: 'This heart didn't come with instructions.'

Seth Rogen says he’s never had a call from Lindsay Lohan regarding a possible work project.
“That’s not true - I never got a call from anyone that works for her,” the actor said at the Los Angeles premiere of his new animated film Monsters Vs Aliens.
Lindsay apparently claimed in the latest issue of Nylon magazine that she was looking to get the Canadian star involved in a future acting project, but “Seth won’t call us back”.
So, would the actor be returning Lindsay’s calls in the future?
“If it was a work related thing, yeah definitely,” he said. Seth provides the voice of alien B.O.B in the new Dreamworks film, which also stars Reese Witherspoon and Hugh Laurie.
“He’s a brainless blue mass as I’ve been at times so I can relate,” joked the Superbad star.
Seth also expressed his delight at becoming only the ninth man ever to grace the cover of Playboy magazine - he appears in the April issue.
“It was fun,” he said. “It’s not every guy that gets asked to do that so I figured I had to do it.”
Seth should be so honored to work with someone with so much potential.
"We've found out some brand new info, which you can read all about inside! A piece of news we've been sitting on for quite some time now is that Shawnee Smith is set to return as Amanda in Lionsgate's Saw VI. While we were trying to get more info, Twisted Pictures producer Mark Burg told Official Saw the following. "Shawnee Smith [as Amanda] is in Saw VI. There are several new characters. Also, this movie is a lot more violent than the previous five. Lastly, we have traps that pit victims against each other like the opening of Saw V. Could be the best script yet!" What we learned on our lonesome is that Shawnee will be returning in a flashback, possibly in old footage. We have not confirmed that she will actually set foot in Toronto for filming later this month. Saw VI hits theaters October 23.
Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively this evening that Shawnee Smith will in fact be filming brand new scenes for Lionsgate's Saw VI. All of her scenes will be flashback sequences (because she's dead), while the biggest news is that she will play a major role in the outcome of the film.
Shawnee sets foot in Toronto March 30th, the first day of shooting.
This is pretty big news considering she was one of the main factors in my distaste for Saw V. Shawnee is to Jigsaw as Robin to Batman -- only there are no "holy rusted metal" lines in the works... or are there? Jigsaw does work in mysterious ways.

The conclusion of some nail-biter college basketball tournament games and Steve Kroft's interview with President Obama on "60 Minutes" carried CBS to a strong Sunday in the ratings, winning in both demos and total viewers. ABC's "Desperate Housewives" remained the night's top entertainment series.
Reliable Nielsen estimates weren't available Monday for particular CBS programs, since basketball ran in much of the country until about 7:50 p.m., but "60 Minutes" is expected to be the night's most-watched program with more than 16 million viewers. The basketball action, which included second-round playoff games such as Michigan State against USC and Missouri against Marquette, also averaged more than 15 million viewers to dominate the opening hour of primetime.
Among entertainment programs, ABC was the top draw in the 7 o'clock hour with "America's Funniest Home Videos" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall) and at 8 o'clock with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (3.1/8 in 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall). And jumping sharply from there, "Desperate Housewives" dominated at 9 p.m. (4.9/12 in 18-49, 14.7 million viewers overall), though it was down slightly week to week, and "Brothers & Sisters" kept the net on top in demos during primetime's final hour (3.5/9 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall).
At Fox, "The Simpsons" (3.0/8 in 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall) and "King of the Hill" (2.6/7 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall) were up a tick week to week, while "Family Guy" (3.7/9 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall) and "American Dad" (2.9/7 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall) were flat week to week.
NBC was up at 7 p.m. with "Dateline" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall) but dipped at 8 o'clock with the second week of drama "Kings" (1.3/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) :'(, which ran a distant fourth among the broadcast nets. From 9 to 11 p.m., "Celebrity Apprentice" (2.9/7 in 18-49, 7.3 million viewers overall) was down from its prior average but up a tick vs. last week's one-hour edition.
Mods, I didn't see yesterday's ratings posted, and I was bored. ♥

Reports of poor test results for NBC's new sitcom Parks and Recreation hit the web today but NBC Entertainment co-chair Ben Silverman tells EW these kinds of negative responses are not unusual for a new series. "All of the research we do around initial rough cuts is negative," Silverman says. "If you had seen the initial research on all of ours and our competitors' successful shows, it tends to be like that." Silverman says he has "no idea" how the test reports were leaked. Parks and Recreation, which stars Amy Poehler and comes from The Office's Greg Daniels and Mike Schur, premieres on April 9. Poehler plays Leslie Knope, an ambitious but clueless parks department employee who hopes to rise within the local government of Pawnee, Ind. Rashida Jones and Aziz Ansari costar.
Daniels and Schur were originally assigned to pen an Office spin-off for NBC but developed Parks and Recreation instead. Silverman says, though, that he is still definitely interested in pursuing a spin-off of the Steve Carrell comedy series.

But it was really fun; it was the first time we’ve both been in front of the camera at the same time. Usually I’d just wait for her to say her lines, and then we’d switch out so I could get beat up.

“I believe wholeheartedly that this will be the best season yet,” she said.
AVC: What was the mood like on the final episode of Conan?
AR: It was melancholy, but still pretty jubilant. It was odd for me, too, because I secretly knew that I was coming back, and not many people there knew I was coming back, so for me, I was kind of—it was exciting, just the notion of getting back into it. But some of the entire crew and staff stayed behind to do Jimmy Fallon’s show, some of the people retired. Very few people were left in the lurch in between. A lot of the people were sad it was ending, but excited about the new thing. But you know, there’s just a lot of people moving from New York to California. Mostly what I was doing was just answering questions about how long does it take to drive from Calabasas to Burbank. So I think it was kind of unexpected closure with all kinds of other stuff going on. I don’t think in large meta ways about things—but I was sitting in the makeup chair getting ready, and the title credits came on, and the opening music came on, and I said to the people in makeup, “Holy shit, this really is the last Late Night With Conan O’Brien.” It didn’t hit me until it was already on. I knew he was taking over The Tonight Show, and I had a couple of years to get used to that idea, but I never really thought about that meaning that the other show was going to end. I just was thinking about the new thing. I think there’s also a lot of disbelief over it being 16 years. Just—15 or 16 years, that’s a long goddamn time to be on the air.Much, much more at the source.

The last 3 minutes or so, the producer asked them what the show has done for the kids, and they mention the opportunities it gave them to give the kids things they never thought they'd be able to or something like that. Then he asked what it has been like for them.
The full transcript is under a cut. It's a lot, so a summary of it is: Kate really wants to do season 5, but Jon seems like he doesn't want to do it anymore. He hates not being able to go out anymore, and he brings up going out, and people taking your picture and "doing all they can to do something", but that's as far as he'll go on the topic.
It ends with Jon saying "Maybe there will be a season 5, maybe there won't".
Full awkwardness under cut.

Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Colin Quinn have joined the cast of the untitled Adam Sandler comedy at Columbia Pictures.
Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade have already boarded the project, which revolves around five best friends from high school who reunite 30 years later on a Fourth of July weekend.
Hayek will play the wife of Sandler's character and Rudolph will portray Rock's spouse.
Dennis Dugan is onboard to direct the pic, which is scheduled to begin lensing in the summer. Sandler penned the screenplay with "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star" scribe Fred Wolf.
The untitled pic is shaping up to be a reunion for "Saturday Night Live" alums. Former castmembers Rudolph and Quinn join Sandler, Rock, Schneider, Spade and Wolf, who all spent time on the long-running series.
Sandler's Sony-based Happy Madison shingle is producing.
Hayek, who has a recurring role on NBC's "30 Rock," will next be seen in Universal Pictures' "Cirque du Freak."
omgg. I've been waiting forever to submit a Colin Quinn post to ONTD. This is the first time ever I found some recent news about him! ily Colin!

Here's the song.
Zack Snyder just lost his leading lady. According to Entertainment Weekly, Amanda Seyfried (Jennifer’s Body, Mama Mia) won’t headline Snyder’s action fantasy film Sucker Punch after all due to “scheduling conflicts”.
Snyder has called the film “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”, an R-Rated $100 million budgeted 1950’s-period action movie which tells the story of a girl named Baby Doll (the role Seyfried was originally set to play) who is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While imprisoned, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain. In this fantasy world, where she needs to steal five objects to help her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.
Last we heard that Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Abbie Cornish (Stop-Loss), Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler, Across The Universe), and Emma Stone (Superbad) would play Seyfried’s fellow inmates who also travel into the alternate reality. Seyfriend was scheduled to complete work on Chloe this week, but HBO won’t release her from her Big Love commitment, which will be in the middle of filming its fourth season when Sucker Punch goes into production this fall.
It will be interesting to see how this project proceeds, especially in a post-Watchmen world where Snyder is no longer hailed as the same post-300 box office god. I wouldn’t be surprised if studio executives are now pushing for a bigger name to be cast in the lead role. Warner Bros has already announced a October 8th 2010 release date for Sucker Punch.
*So, who would YOU want to see take over Amanda's part? I say maybe Mila Kunis or Emily Browning?*
