NEW YORK (AP) — Ted Danson is relishing his first Emmy nomination since "Cheers."
In a remarkable run, Danson was nominated 11 years in a row for each season of the beloved Boston bar comedy, winning twice and mixing in another nomination for the 1984 TV film "Something About Amelia," in which he played a father suspected of incest.
But the 60-year-old Danson will be back at the Emmys after being nominated as a supporting actor for his work on the FX drama "Damages." Danson says the honor has more meaning this time around.
"When you're younger and you get nominated, there was part of me — I don't know if I took it for granted — but now it's a very rich experience," Danson told The Associated Press. "This is really lovely."
On the FX show, Danson plays Arthur Frobisher, a billionaire CEO who's the target of a class-action lawsuit. He and lawyer Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) are intense adversaries in a legal battle with Hewes representing employees who lost their savings when Frobisher's company went under.
Danson is nominated alongside William Shatner ("Boston Legal"), John Slattery ("Mad Men"), Michael Emerson ("Lost"), and his "Damages" co-star Zeljko Ivanek, who portrays Frobisher's cunning lawyer.

TBH I just wanted a reason to talk about Damages... I just finished watching the entire first season in a week and I really enjoyed it. BUT I kind of hated the flashbacks only because they were really repetitive... something like that works fine in a movie like Memento but in a series it kind of gets tiring to deal with.
Anyone else on ONTD watch Damages?
NEW YORK — Her parents are in the middle of a tawdry divorce, her brother is in jail and she's cut off contact with her mom because of her mother's teenage boyfriend. It would seem that with all the drama engulfing Brooke Hogan these days, the last place she'd want to be is in front of the cameras.
But the statuesque starlet was eager to sign up for her own reality show, VH1's "Brooke Knows Best," despite — or perhaps because of — her family woes.
The Hogans had been depicted for four seasons on "Hogan Knows Best" (also on VH1) as Hulk Hogan's loving, tight-knit clan. But over the last year, the superstar wrestler, whose real name is Terry Bollea, and his wife, Linda, have had an acrimonious split, while their son Nick Bollea serves an eight-month sentence after pleading no contest to causing a crash that seriously injured his friend.
And if that wasn't enough fodder for the tabloids, the romantic lives of Brooke's parents (he has a new girlfriend, she's dating a 19-year-old) have made them fixtures in the gossip pages and blogs.
Despite it all, Brooke, 19, has maintained the bubbly, wisecracking persona that she embodied on "Hogan Knows Best." Dressed in a clingy red halter-top, long black gaucho pants and wearing her long blond hair in a ponytail, the striking Hogan (and budding pop star) talked about how she has been coping with the turmoil.

Everyone keeps asking “What happened on 106 and Park yesterday?”, so here it goes: Yesterday on the show, Mario was on as a co-host with Rocsi. As they came back from a commercial break Mario presented Rocsi with flowers to which Rocsi said “Thank You! You are so sweet!” Mario then reveled that the flowers were not from her, but from Terrence and proceeded to read her the following letter:
You and I have been together for two years and in that time we’ve become family. But sometimes we foolishly take family for granted and sometimes with family we take it too far. So let me say my dearest Rocsilla, I took it too far that Friday with my comment and I hope that you will forgive me. You are one of the most beautiful, talented and ambitious people I know and even the idea that I may have hurt you with my teasing has made me sad. From the bottom of my heart I hope that I will never ever ever hurt you again. It’s just not the same. A strong man needs a strong woman, so Rocsi please continue to be my rock. I have to take some time off from the show now but I hope to see you soon.
Rocsi took awhile to respond so Mario was about to go into a video to give her time to think about her answer but she says “no, i’m cool. I love my brother”. So there you have it. Ya’ll can choose not to believe the “Real Scoop I dropped on Rocsi and Terrence” but I have some very credible sources and they don’t include Terrence’s publicist (she can call me though if she wants..haha)

Tori Spelling is thrilled original 90210 member Shannen Doherty has been cast on CW's upcoming 90210 spin-off.
"It is going to be great," she told Usmagazine.com Saturday at the Much Love Animal Rescue's "Bow Wow WOW!" event in L.A. "The fans have been wanting this for a long time."
(Seems Spelling - who will also appear on the show down the line - has had a change of heart since penning her memoir, sTORI Telling. In it, she said Doherty "could be arrogant and carefree.")
Doherty will reprise her role as Brenda Walsh, who, after a successful theater career, has returned to West Beverly High as a guest director for the school’s musical production.
"She is a huge part [of the show]," Spelling said of Doherty. "Any original cast member is huge to the fans. She was there from the beginning. She was 90210. Shannen and Jason [Priestley] - they were the Walshes."
She also says her father, the late Aaron Spelling, would have approved of the spin-off.
"He would be really proud," she told Us. "He always intended to do a 90210 next generation. He would want his hands all over it."
The news that David Tennant would be putting his Tardis into the long-stay car park in order to play Hamlet for the RSC was last year's worst-kept secret in showbusiness.

With a wildly popular tour and a new record expected to sell millions, the Jonas Brothers have gone from Disney novelty to phenomenon. All they want is for you to see them as a real band
It's nearing 8:00 on a sweltering night in Phoenix, and as the temperature mercifully dips below 100 degrees, a trillion swelling hormones have collected at the Cricket Wireless Pavilion to experience the Jonas Brothers. Among the undersize pilgrims in attendance are Jordan and Jackie, a pair of blond preteens from nearby Scottsdale. Moments ago, they met the Jonas Brothers in person at a "meet and greet" photo op, and now they stand red-cheeked, quivering and sobbing uncontrollably, as if they've been told that Disneyland just burned down, with the world's supply of kittens and baby pandas trapped inside.
"Omigodomigodomigod," Jordan says, holding her arms aloft and shaking her palms in the air.
"I got tingles in my body all over the place, because I. Just. Met. Nick. Jonas," Jackie says.
"I've wanted to meet them for, like, my whole entire life," Jordan says.
How old are you?
It's like this everywhere. At a Jonas Brothers concert in Dallas, I meet a 17-year-old girl named Lauren who hosted a red-carpet premiere party at her house for the brothers' recent Disney Channel movie, Camp Rock. ("Even my girlfriends who weren't into it, we made them dress up," she says.) I meet girls from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one of whose dad drove them seven hours to the concert ("He wore an iPod"). I meet many fans who, like the Jonases, wear "purity rings," vowing chastity until marriage. I meet a precocious 11-year-old named Hannah (not Montana) from New York. "We have to teach people to like the Jonas Brothers," she instructs me, finger wagging. And why is Hannah from New York in Dallas?
"To see the Jonas Brothers," she says. "Duh."
"There was one actor I worked with who used to burn his leg with cigarettes. I can’t name names. Well, let’s just call him Sean Penn."
Gary Oldman is one of the great talents of modern cinema. Following his breakthrough role in 1986's Sid And Nancy, he has been outstanding playing characters such as Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK and Beethoven in Immortal Beloved but has never been nominated for an Oscar. Now 50, he reprises his role as Lieutenant Jim Gordon in Batman: The Dark Knight.
There’s nothing dark about your role in Dark Knight. Is that deliberate?
Yeah. I’ve wanted to get away from playing the dark guys. I’ve played a bunch of those loonies in my time. I came on to the scene with Sid And Nancy and, over the years, the career has become narrower and narrower because people have a lack of imagination. They don’t have as much imagination as Chris Nolan [The Dark Knight’s British director]. I wanted to turn the ship around so I’ve been doing Harry Potter and I just did A Christmas Carol. In Dark Knight, my character is the moral centre of this whole piece.

Dad left baby in car to watch Batman
A DAD was booked into jail under suspicion of second-degree child abuse after leaving his son in his car while he watched the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight."
David Farnham, 23, of Salt Lake City left his 2-year-old son inside his car in the parking lot of the Century 16 Theaters on Saturday night.
An onlooker walking by the car at 1:22 a.m. on Sunday saw the baby inside the vehicle crying and sweating profusely, said detective Gary Keller with the South Salt Lake City Police Department.
Farnham rolled the windows up in the car "so the child could not be taken out," according to a jail booking statement. The temperature inside the vehicle was 87 degrees, the statement added.
Farnham was located inside of the theater and the boy was taken out of the car. The boy was thirsty, but otherwise in good condition, Keller said.
The boy has since been released to his mother. Farnham was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail where he is being held without bail.
The case has been turned over for screening at the District Attorney's Office.

MARIAH IS NOT DESTINED FOR A STRIP HEADLINE RESIDENCY—AT LEAST YETJuly 22nd, 2008 The music world went into Mariah Carey overdrive buzz at the end of last week and over the weekend. Internet Web sites were awash around the globe repeating and repeating the outrageous story that the pop-diva had accepted an offer to appear as a resident headliner at the Planet Hollywood Resort. It would have meant she was joining the likes of Cher, Bette Midler and Elton John and accordingly would have been the youngest singer with a new permanent home here on the Strip. However Luxe Life can assure you all there is “absolutely no truth” to the claims per Planet Hollywood CEO, Robert Earl who was said in the reports to have signed her to a $100 million three-year deal. While traveling he reached me in response to my queries and said, “Absolutely no truth.” He and I believe that the ridiculous rumors all began when she made a recent surprise post midnight appearance at the Privé nightclub at Planet Hollywood Resort with new husband, Nick Cannon. Sorry fans, no Mariah on a steady basis here in Vegas—at least yet! Maybe another 10 years when the touring gets worn and comes to a stop?

The debut of Susan Juliette
It's been three weeks since his blue-eyed baby debuted in this world, but Thomas Beatie – better known around the world as the Pregnant Man – can already say this about his daughter's personality: "She's easygoing and mellow and intelligent."
On June 29 at 8:55 p.m., Beatie, 34, a former female beauty pageant contestant, made cultural history as perhaps the first legally transgender male to give birth, bringing into the world a 9 lbs., 5 oz. baby girl named Susan Juliette.
"She's so precious, I just can't stop staring at her," Thomas tells PEOPLE in his first interview since he and wife Nancy returned with their bundle from Bend, Oregon's St. Charles Medical Center. "Just holding her is the best feeling in the world."
Susan – named after Thomas's mother and conceived through artificial insemination with donor sperm – arrived after 40 hours of labor, with Nancy at Thomas's side acting as his coach.
"When Susan finally came out, it was like in slow motion," says Thomas. "I was full of wonder." Echoes Nancy: "There were tears of joy."
Both father and daughter came through the birth in perfect health. "I weigh two pounds less than I did before I got pregnant," adds Thomas. "And I don't have a single stretch mark!"
At home, the couple is adjusting to their new nightly schedule: Nancy breastfeeding (by induced lactation, a process using hormones and physical stimulation with a breast pump) and Thomas keeping company while watching TV.
Crows Thomas, "Susan is a miracle! And we're finally the family we've been dreaming of."
Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and fellow Disney sensation Selena Gomez have been outed as a couple in the latest issue of Rolling Stone. “All I can think about is THE PICTURE,” Rolling Stone deputy editor Jason Gay writes. “What could it possibly be? Why would the Disney handler want to delete it? Was it Nick making out with a girl?” Gay makes his discovery towards the end of the article: “Later that night, I’m finally able to see the photograph. It’s a picture of Nick, Joe, Kevin and yes, a beautiful young brunette in a scarlet-red top. Nick has his arm around the girl’s back, and the girl’s arm is wrapped around his. Her name is Selena Gomez, she’s Demi Lovato’s best friend and a big new Disney star. The genuine affection in the photo is obvious…” The much-hyped picture, which is published in the mag, shows Nick, 15, hugging Selena, who just turned 16 yesterday. The photo caption reads: “MOUSE MAGIC: Seconds before a show, Nick gets a hug from Selena Gomez, another Disney star, as Kevin, Joe and bodyguard Big Rob look on.” P.S. The picture here is Photoshopped but the one in the mag is not!

Revlon has annouced that Jennifer Connelly will be fronting their next global ad campaign...
The company released a statement yesterday announcing the news:
"Jennifer Connelly is a modern, dynamic and intelligent woman. She is an accomplished wife, mother and actress and her successes complement the spirit of the Revlon brand," said David Kennedy, Revlon's President and CEO. "We are elated to have Jennifer join the Revlon family."
In addition to being featured in upcoming global advertising campaigns, Connelly will be involved with various company-sponsored philanthropic activities and fundraising events for charity. To date, Revlon has donated more than $65 million for research, counseling and outreach programs to support women's health and participating breast cancer programs.
"I am honored to be joining the Revlon Family," said Jennifer Connelly. "Revlon is one of the great iconic brands of today and I am thrilled to be part of a company that has done so much for women around the world." Jennifer will be joining the likes of Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Julianne Moore, Eva Mendes, Kate Bosworth, Cindy Crawford, and Elle McPherson as a spokesmodel for the brand.
I am not surprised that Jennifer would choose to represent Revlon. She has been photographed several times with Revlon owning billionaire Ron Perelman, most recently at the Seventh on Sale Gala this past fall. Jennifer and Ron both sat at the same table with Anna Wintour, who had personally asked Jennifer and Kate Bosworth to co host the event. And guess which two ladies became Revlon spokesmodels? This is how these deals get done, bbs.
Ron Perelman and Jennifer
Yet I am sort of surprised that she is doing an ad campaign. She had sworn off doing advertising for years. Judging from comments on other sites, many people are apparently unaware that Jennifer was one of the most successful child/teen models of the 1980's (I am planning another post about this.) She was so burnt out from her childhood as a model (her life from 1980 to '89 was one big photoshoot) that she only modeled in spreads promoting her films, until her Balenciaga campaign. Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere said that he "begged her for years" to do a campaign for him. She must have gotten paid well, and remember she and hubby Paul Bettany did just buy a 7 million dollar TriBeCa penthouse (yikes!) So perhaps that explains the Revlon deal!

NBC sees Purefoy as "Philanthropist"
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - British actor James Purefoy is in negotiations to play the lead in "The Philanthropist," a midseason NBC drama series.
"Philanthropist" centers on a renegade billionaire who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need no matter the risks or costs.
NBC brass had courted Purefoy for some time, including flying the "Rome" star from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles for a meeting.
The casting of the lead comes nearly a year after NBC gave the project a 13-episode series order and three months after the network put it on its 2008-09 schedule.
It also follows the recent change at the helm of "Philanthropist," with David Eick taking over after the departure of original writer/executive producer Tom Fontana and executive producer Barry Levinson.
The series is slated to premiere in the Monday 10 p.m. slot in midseason.
Beyonce has been chosen to sing “Part Of Your World” from Disney’s classic movie The Little Mermaid for their compilation CD which will be released this September. Also singing other Disney hits will include Rihanna and Chris Brown (Aladdin) “A Whole New World”, Pussycat Dolls (Hercules) “I Won’t Say (I’m In Love)”, and Alicia Keys (Mulan) “Reflection” plus many more!

Maybe this will get folks to start watching WNBA games? With about four seconds left in last night's L.A. Sparks and Detroit Shock game, Sparks' Candace Parker and Shock's Plenette Pierson got tangled up after a free throw that resulted in Pierson throwing Parker to the ground. Pierson approached Parker as she tried to get up and Parker threw her to the ground and both benches cleared with the Shock's Deanna Nolan tackling Parker and Detroit's Cheryl Ford holding back Pierson resulting in Ford falling down and injuring her knee.
In the midst of the melee, Shock assistant coach Rick Mahorn somehow pushed Lisa Leslie to the ground and her teammate, DeLisha Milton-Jones, pushed and punched Mahorn in the back. Parker, Pierson, Milton-Jones and Mahorn were ejected, and Nolan and Los Angeles' Shannon Bobbitt received technicals.

Louis Leterrier says new Avenger will feature in Iron Man 2 and Jackson, Downey and Norton set for Avengers in 2011
Louis Leterrier has revealed not only that Jon Favreau is currently writing Iron Man 2 with Robert Downey Jr., but that the sequel to the Spring blockbuster will feature a new character from the Avengers, after the brief appearance by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the post-credits sequence of Iron Man.
Additionally Leterrier is reported to have said that 2011 will definitely bring Jackson, Downey Jr., Hulk actor Ed Norton and two other 'A-list actors' - presumably whichever A-listers get cast as Thor and Captain America in their respective upcoming movies that Marvel is also producing - together for the Avengers movie.
Current expected release dates are Iron Man 2 in 2010, Thor is pencilled in for 2010, Avengers in 2011 while The First Avenger: Captain America is due in May 2011 too.

Lynne Spears is still haunted by a tragic 1975 car crash that claimed the life of a 12 year-old boy. The “Pop Culture Mom” was 20 when she ran over a child sprinting down a Kentwood, Louisiana on his bike. He was killed instantly.
“To this day, Lynne hasn’t gotten over what she did. She gets that terrified look in her eye when she is thinking about it,” a Spear family spy revealed in this week’s edition of the National Enquirer.
Lynn was rushing her brother to the hospital after he’d suffered an injury when she struck the boy.
“It bothers Lynne still to this day,” a former employee of the Spears adds. “She really doesn’t like to talk about it. She just wanted to forget that it ever happened - but she can’t.”
“She has told only a few people about the accident and always says, ‘Please don’t think I’m a bad person.’”

I know there are lots of complains about how this is false advertising for the show, since it isn't that bad, but I think it's a really witty, subversive way to get back at those like the PTC who get up all high and mighty about it. They keep complaining about how ~immoral~ the show is, when it really isn't, so GG parodies it back to them.
The summer movie season is 11 weeks old, so naturally it's time to assess the winners and losers of the season.
If the 11th week isn't a benchmark, what is?
And make no mistake; there are definite winners and losers this summer. You don't need 12 weeks to know a winner from a loser.
So, let's get on with the festivities. Here are the big winners, the big losers and those who simply maintained during the first 11 weeks of the 2008 summer movie season.
Robert Downey Jr. - Only two people in the world wanted this guy for the title role in "Iron Man." One was Robert Downey Jr. The other was director Jon Favreau. Frankly, nobody at the studio really cared what Downey wanted. Who listens to actors? But Favreau had hand (you have to be a "Seinfeld" aficionado to understand what that means), and he used his hand to smack a few studio executives up the side of the head. They said Downey was too old to start what they hoped would be a long franchise. They said Downey had too much baggage from his years of substance abuse. They said Downey was too old. I know I already said that, but the studio really emphasized the age thing. Well, Favreau won the battle, and he was proved right.
Jack Black - People like Jack a lot but don't necessarily buy tickets to all his movies. Somebody thought it was a good idea to base an animated character on the actor, and the resulting "Kung Fu Panda" has passed the $200 million mark in this country alone. Black returns to the big screen next month in the anxiously awaited comedy "Tropic Thunder." The potent one-two punch has put Black back in the black after his hat trick of dread - "The Holiday," "Nacho Libre" and "Be Kind Rewind."
Sarah Jessica Parker - The actress and the rest of the brain trust behind the "Sex and the City" phenomenon tried their best to mount a big-screen version years ago to take advantage of the good vibes lingering from the HBO series. Once the show enjoyed a second act through cable and syndication, a movie version became a moral imperative. Parker put her reputation on the line for this film, and it wasn't a wasted effort. The film is a monster, and may have changed the way the Hollywood boys club thinks about chick flicks.
Andy and Larry Wachowski - The notorious Wachowski brothers thought it might be fun to make a family film after a string of mostly interesting, and some even groundbreaking, films that included "Bound," the "Matrix" trilogy and "V for Vendetta." Well, "Speed Racer" didn't quite work out. The Wachowskis had the distinction of making the biggest bomb of the summer; that is, until the next two fellows came along.
Mike Myers - Wayne, Austin, Shrek, whatever you want to call him, has been mired in animation land so long that he either forgot how to make a funny live-action film, or the movie audience forgot about him. Either way, "The Love Guru" swallowed the Kool-Aid. But you can't say that Myers didn't promote the movie. That guy was everywhere, and it's a little embarrassing to find out after your movie opens that all that promotional work you did earlier was in front of people who didn't care.
Eddie Murphy - How many bombs can one guy make in a lifetime? Each time, he has managed to crawl back into the public favor. He may do it again after "Meet Dave." He does have at least two movies ready to shoot, although nobody knows for sure whether they'll turn out to be another "Trading Places" or "Pluto Nash."
Harrison Ford - You're probably asking yourself how the star of an $800 million movie cannot be thought of as a winner? The answer: When the movie was supposed to make $900 million. Seriously, I wrote about this in last week's column but there is a perception, particularly inside the movie industry, that "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was somewhat of a disappointment - at least by Indiana Jones standards. So, Ford certainly didn't hurt his reputation with the blockbuster, but he didn't help it, either.
Will Smith - Once again, he delivered on the Fourth of July weekend. But it was no "Independence Day." But it also wasn't "Wild Wild West," and that's the good news. "Hancock" is doing the kind of business most movie stars would kill for, but realistically speaking, the numbers and the reviews were not up to Smith's usual holiday fare. Still, he will live to rule another Fourth of July.
Steve Carell - "Get Smart" has done well, but it is eliciting more yawns than any $100 million comedy in history. However, that kind of money ensures his rep. But he didn't move up the Hollywood food chain.
Heads up, Hulk! Your daughter might be headed for Playboy.
Brooke Hogan has been approached to pose nude for the famous men's magazine, her publicist told the Daily News on Wednesday. And she didn't say no.
The "Brooke Hogan Knows Best" star, 20, could use a boost for her stagnant singing career. Hogan's 2006 album "Undiscovered" reportedly sold just 127,000 copies.
But her father, WWE legend Hulk Hogan, likely won't be too thrilled with the idea. The Hulkster had no qualms about showing off his overbearing paternal side on the now-defunct VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best."
Brooke has posed for a men's magazine in the past (she appeared on the cover of FHM in a skimpy bikini in 2006), but has never posed nude.
"No decision has been made at this time," her rep said.
"Jessica Simpson has christened her debut country album "Do You Know" and will release it Sept. 9 via Columbia Nashville. First single "Come on Over" rises 26-23 this week on Billboard's Hot Country songs chart.

I'm not sure what Jess wants us to know, but I think the more important issue is that neither Jess, creepy Papa Joe, nor the writer of this article know that no one else cares. Also, the comparison to Faith Hill is incredibly unfair to Faith. We'll forgive Dolly for collaborating with Jess, but only because all the hair dye, make up, and plastic surgery has to have taken some sort of mental toll on her. But really, her people should be making better decisions for her. Lastly, the only domestic abuse occurring that involves Simpson is going to be anyone sorry enough to play this cd in their house.

Consider this piece “Abuse, Explained.” As you have probably heard, Christian Bale’s mother and sister went to the police the night before The Dark Knight premiered in London, claiming that Christian had assaulted them. Police were generous enough to allow Bale to attend the premiere, and soon after, he turned himself into authorities, was arrested, and then quickly bailed out.

Sources tell TMZ Christian Bale has had a long-standing difficult relationship with his mom and Bale's camp believes the motivation for the whole assault charge may be $$$.
We're told when Christian's mom and dad divorced nearly two decades ago, his mom forced him to choose between the two. Christian picked his dad, and father and son moved out to L.A. in 1992, where his dad became his manager.
Somehow Bale's relationship with the mom has been "bitter" ever since. Bale has told friends his mother was extremely jealous of both his and his dad's success.
Last Sunday, Bale let his mom and sis into his hotel suite, though it was by no means an olive branch. As we first reported, there was physical contact, but somewhere in between a push and a brush. No one fell and no one was hurt.
Christian's camp thinks this could be nothing more than a shakedown. We're told some newspapers and mags have already been throwing around "insane" amounts of money for the story, so mom and sis could score big.
But our sources say the cops are starting to see the whole thing Christian's way, and the charges could disappear faster than Batman.
“I just want everyone to know that it’s coming out and that I’m going to answer a lot of questions in the music,” the ATL-based rapper says of “PAPER TRAIL.” “It’s intense and insightful; it’s gonna shake up the game and it’s me at my best.”
“PAPER TRAIL” has been heralded by the street track, “No Matter What,” on which T.I. directly addresses his current life situation. The track – produced by Danjahandz (Timbaland, 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Danity Kane) – has been building momentum organically, scoring major airplay at Urban and Rhythmic radio outlets nationwide. The song’s companion video is now in “Medium” rotation at BET and in “Heavy” rotation on the network’s Rap City. At MTV, “No Matter What” is in rotation across the spectrum, including MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, and MTV Jams (where it was recently “Jam of the Week”).
The album’s first official single, “Whatever You Like,” has just hit radio outlets nationwide. The song was produced by Jim Jonsin, whose many credits include Lil Wayne’s current #1 smash, “Lollipop.” In addition, “Swing Your Rag,” a brand-new Swizz Beatz-produced track from “PAPER TRAIL,” has just been added to the player on T.I.’s MySpace page, located at www.trapmuzik.com.
T.I. readies launch of "AKOO" clothing lineT.I. is ramping up marketing and promotional efforts for the launch of his next clothing line AKOO (A King of Oneself) which is due to hit market this September/October. Video of the AKOO photo shoot with T.I., The Dream and DJ Drama hit YouTube a couple weeks ago while T.I. has a brand new video on his StreetCred.com site which includes more photo shoot coverage and interviews. Aside from launching his new clothing line, T.I. is busy getting ready for this new album "Paper Trail" which releases Sept. 9th and his next movie, the crime thriller Bone Deep.
I can't find a link to the new Akoo video, except for on streetcred and it doesn't always play right away. :( I like it better than the first one.
And because I think these videos are funny.
There seems to exist a certain breed of Project Runway fan who so adores Christian Siriano, they're determined not to let anyone from the new season overshadow him. After last week's season premiere, they feared poor tan Blayne was trying to steal Siriano's limelight by attempting to make "girlicious" the new "fierce." So they've launched an attack in the media against him, proclaiming "girlicious" can never be the new "fierce." (We just saw girlicious as the ill-conceived name of one ill-conceived outfit rather than an attempted catch phrase, but we digress.) The Daily News joins the attack against Blayne today. The paper's so determined to ensure it doesn't become the new "fierce" they called up catch-phrase experts to explain why it won't work:
"It sounds strange," says linguist Michael Adams, professor of English at Indiana University and author of "Slayer Slang: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer Lexicon." "It's got a stunt aspect, and stunt words remain stunt words."
…"Girlicious made me roll my eyes," says Robert Thompson, professor of TV and pop culture at Syracuse University. "It sounded like a self-conscious catchphrase created in the laboratory…Anything 'a-licious' has been so done," says Thompson. "It's so middle school. It's such an old suffix."Thank goodness they called the experts to explain it "sounds strange" and is "so middle school." If we may, doesn't it feel like these people are omitting the most obvious point there is to make about girlicious? That it can't catch on because it will make many viewers think of the overmakeuped inappropriately dressed young girls from the reality series of the same name? If you need us, we'll be giving quotes to the Post (hair flick).

Classic beauty Kate Beckinsale looks nothing short of bangin’ in the August issue of California Style magazine.
Inside the issue, the British actress admits she was “frightened” about moving to America - because she was convinced she would be forced to undergo a full body makeover.
Says Kate, “I was very frightened of L.A. at first. I thought the first thing that would happen is they are going to file my teeth down, inflate my bosom and just be mean to me - and that’s sort of what has happened.”
So how paranoid is she? Kate had demanded a body double for her latest film Whiteout because she felt self-conscious about her bottom’s size. The slim 34-year-old star refused to bare her derriere while shooting a shower scene in the movie, which forced the film’s producers to hire a $2000 a-day model to stand in for her.

See You at ComiCon!
Current mood: excited
I wanted to make sure that if you are attending ComiCon or if you're in the San Diego area, you know about my panel for REPO: The Genetic Opera! I will be there tomorrow, Thursday, July 24th.
The cast, creators and I will be hosting a ComiCon panel to discuss the movie at 9pm at the San Diego Convention center, in room 6B, tomorrow night only. We will be showing clips from the film and talking about the making of this incredible project, so spread the word.
This is a special opportunity to hear from not only the cast, but from the people who brought this film to life, and I can't wait to share it with the ComiCon audience... I'd love to see my fans there, as always!
Love you all,
It may be one of the summer's most anticipated films of the year, at least for ardent fans of the Emmy winning TV series.

The actor and his wife Ryan Shawhughes welcomed Clementine Jane Hawke last Friday in New York City, his rep tells Usmagazine.com exclusively.
Hawke, 37, and Shawhughes quietly tied the knot in New York City in June.
In January, Hawke's rep confirmed that he and Shawhughes were expecting their first child together.
"They're thrilled!" the rep said.
Hawke met Shawhughes after she began working as a nanny for his two children, Maya, 10, and Levon, 6, whom he has with his ex, actress Uma Thurman.
In 2006, Hawke gushed that his kids provide "the greatest pleasure in my life. It's the only role that, if I fail, I will consider my life a failure."
Meanwhile, it's been a busy summer for Maya and Levon with a new baby sister and their mother's upcoming nuptials.
A rep for the actress confirmed to Usmagazine.com that Thurman will wed her financier boyfriend Arpad "Arki" Busson.
For once, we’re glad that us Brits have a reputation for being prudes, as we couldn’t bear seeing this sort of thing on our own Big Brother. In the US version, which is airing at the moment, housemates Ollie and April have been openly shagging – ewwww! In this clip which is not for the faint-hearted, you can even hear April saying, “You have to pull out” as they go at it under some blankets – but with the lights on! Yuck, yuck, YUCK! Seriously, don’t watch it if you’re easily offended – it’s basically porn, albeit porn for foot fetishists (that camera-man bloody loves those toes, doesn’t he?).
Tell me why you would have all of your leads virtually indistinguishable? Why is a plot better suited for a 90 minute movie being stretched into a series? Why is The CW now just about Pretty White People With Prooooooblems?
Talk Radio Network host Michael Savage has been dropped from a Mississippi radio network after making defamatory comments about autistic children on his show last week. The Savage Nation host, who has repeatedly bashed the gay community on air, called autistic children ‘brats’ and said autism is nothing more than a ‘fraud’. Savage has also lost at least one major advertiser over the inflammatory remarks.
A network of seven stations in Mississippi has announced they will no longer carry the Savage Nation radio program following derogatory remarks made by host Michael Savage about autistic children.
Steve Davenport, head of the Super Talk network in Mississippi, called Savage’s comments “beyond inexcusable.”
“Effective immediately, Michael Savage and his Savage Nation Radio Show have been cancelled on all Super Talk Mississippi stations,” Davenport said, according to the New York Daily News.
In an episode of the nationally-syndicated talk radio show last week, Savage called autism a “fraud” and a “racket” and used a variety of slurs to describe autistic children.
“I’ll tell you what autism is,” Savage said during the program. “In 99% percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is.”
Savage continued by saying autistic children “don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’”
In addition to being dropped by the Mississippi radio network, Savage also lost a major advertiser for his program over the remarks. The AFLAC insurance company announced they would be pulling all advertisements sponsoring Savage’s show.
“AFLAC has a strong commitment to helping children through the AFLAC Cancer Center and AFLAC foundation,” the statement read. “We understand that radio hosts pick on any number of targets however we found his recent comments about autistic children to be both inappropriate and insensitive.”
In response to the controversy stirred up by his comments, Savage posted a statement on his web site defending his words. “My comments about autism were meant to boldly awaken parents and children to the medical community’s attempt to label too many children or adults as ‘autistic,’” Savage said.
J. Jioni Palmer, a spokesperson for MediaMatters.org, said Savage's statement offers no excuse for his behavior on air. "Michael Savage is desperately trying to dig himself out of a hole by qualifying his original comments," Palmer said. "The reality is he didn't use any qualifiers when taking his mean-spirited swipe at children with autism and their families."
John Gilmore, executive director of Autism United said Savage’s comments were “reprehensible,” according to the Boston Herald. “We are asking him to be fired and we want to make advertisers aware of what he is broadcasting.” Autism United, along with several other major autism organizations, are asking for Savage to be boycotted and fired over his remarks.
Savage has found himself the subject of enormous backlash in the past for derogatory comments made against various minority groups, especially the LGBT community. Four months after a televised version of Savage’s show was picked up by MSNBC in 2003, Savage was pulled off the network after telling a caller he was a “sodomite” and saying he “should only get AIDS and die, you pig.”
The popular right-wing radio host has also repeatedly compared homosexuality with pedophilia and famously told his listeners: “When you hear ‘human rights,’ think gays. When you hear ‘human rights,’ think only one thing, someone who wants to rape your son.”

The Dark Knight: Joker's rising
Batman and The Joker: What's the diagnosis, doc?
By Robin S. Rosenberg, Ph.d.
The second installment of Christopher Nolan's vision of Batman also brings us Nolan's vision of the Joker: a frightening "terrorist" with no political agenda other than to create chaos for his own amusement. Batman is certainly in this film, but it's the Joker who is really its center, its star. He laughs at his own actions, but in this film those actions are more terrifying than they've ever been. There's definitely something wrong with him, but what is that something?
The Joker's most likely diagnosis is antisocial personal disorder. To be diagnosed with that disorder, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (the diagnostic rulebook of mental health clinicians), an individual's behavior must meet at least three of seven criteria. The criteria most relevant to the Joker involve his repeatedly: 1. violating social norms of lawful behavior; 2. having no remorse for his misbehavior; 3. lying for personal pleasure or profit.
Nolan's incarnation of the Joker gets his kicks from wreaking havoc, and he's clever enough that there's plenty of havoc to go around; he knows what he can do and he's ambitious. He is grandiose, but does he have a second disorder -- is he a narcissist? The diagnosis for narcissistic personality disorder rests on the notion that such people's beliefs about themselves are greater than are warranted by reality; they have an over-inflated sense of their own abilities. Unfortunately, Joker's beliefs in his talents are well-founded.
The Joker is frequently portrayed as the inversion of Batman: humorous, irrational, and spontaneous whereas Batman is humorless, logical and methodical. But what makes Nolan's Joker particularly interesting is his similarity to Batman: They're both smart, driven, methodical loners who are good judges of human nature. Unfortunately, the Joker, like some serial killers, uses his talents and abilities for his own sick amusement rather than for the common good, as does Batman. Thank goodness for Batman.
See Dr. Robin Rosenberg on the recent History Channel program Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight. The first part of the show is on her blog; you can also watch the program on YouTube.
The New York native, accompanied by boyfriend Mathieu Schreyer, went to Washington, D.C.'s Capitol Hill Tuesday to help promote voter participation.
"I decided I'm not going to be working at all through the fall," the actress – who'll be seen in Eagle Eye with Shia LaBoeuf and Seven Pounds with Will Smith – told PEOPLE.
Instead, she plans to work at voter drives across the country sponsored by her non-profit Voto Latino.
"We're targeting the Latin youth vote," said Dawson, 28. "There's 18 million [people who] are eligible. But we are not showing that up in votes. So our numbers aren't counting. When you actually ... work with local organizations – that makes the biggest impact, and that's what I want to be a part of."
Dawson (who admits she didn’t vote for president until 2004, the same year she started Voto Latino) will be at both Democratic and Republican conventions as part of her efforts to reach young Latinos.
"The reason why I co-founded Voto Latino is because of my mom," she told the crowd in D.C. "It's because of my grandmother. It's because I was raised to do it yourself. You want that to be better? You do it yourself."

2. About 6 songs written. 11 instrumentals sent to us so far from 5 different producers.
3. “Reach Out” premiering in August
4. Delays were caused by a dispute on whether this should be a promo track or the first single and even more delays from revisions on the video.
Instrumentals weren't posted yet, but I'm glad they spent so much time trying to get "Reach Out"
perfect. For those who don't know it samples Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus", and does it well, exceeding expectations on what people thought Hilary Duff would do with the song. The dark vibe of the song and racy lyrics are extremely unexpected from Hilary.

Back in Phoenix, the brothers Jonas — Nick, 15, Joe, 18, and Kevin, 20 — are preparing to start their show. All three boys stand less than five-feet-ten, and each possesses a fantastic mane of dark-brown hair. Joe's hair is ironed flat. Kevin used to flat-iron his, but now it's curly again, and he's got thick sideburns; Nick, the brothers' chief songwriter and leader, has always kept the curls. Under Nick's fitted brown linen suit is an insulin pump, adhered to his lower back. Nick was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2005 and must carefully monitor his blood-sugar levels; the band's mammoth bodyguard, Big Rob, carries an insulin shot at all times in case of an emergency.
The backstage hallway quickly fills with members of the extended Jonas family. There's the backup band — guys in their 20s, some of whom have been with the JBs since the days when they rattled around New Jersey playing grimy clubs. There's a swarm of female string players in tuxedo shirts hired to play onstage. There's the band's clean-cut co-manager, Phil McIntyre, and there's Kevin Jonas Sr., the boys' brown-haired, soft-spoken 43-year-old father. A former Christian musician and church pastor raised in North Carolina, Kevin Sr. serves with McIntyre as the band's co-manager.
The group forms a circle and clasps hands. "Two quick things," Kevin Sr. says. "We brought four people from the grass all the way to the front row tonight, so they're pretty excited." This is a Jonas norm — plucking die-hards from the nosebleeds and giving them the best seats in the house. Kevin Sr. tells the band to look out for a girl's softball team that just had a 13-year-old teammate killed in an ATV accident. "They're right at the end of the catwalk," he says. "One of them is wearing the shirt the girl was going to wear tonight."
Kevin Sr. dips his head in prayer. "Heavenly father, we just pray that you'll bless us this time, let it be fun and safe and exciting," he says. "Thank you for all the people that are here. We were at 60 percent just a week ago, and it looks full. Lord, we just pray that every person will be encouraged in Jesus' name."

Miller had received some criticism for the fling because Getty was technically still married at the time the story broke.

Sid Craig died Monday in San Diego following a long illness. He was 76.
Sid and Jenny Craig founded Jenny Craig Inc. in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia. The company eventually grew to include 655 weight loss centers in four countries. In 2006, Nestle SA bought the Carlsbad, California-based company for $600 million.
Sid Craig was an avid thoroughbred fan. He and Jenny Craig owned Paseana, who won the Breeders' Cup Distaff in 1992 and lost the same race by a nose in 1993. The couple purchased a 237-acre (96-hectare) horse racing stables and breeding operation in Rancho Santa Fe, north of San Diego, in 1995.
The couple also owns a minority partnership in the Phoenix Suns pro basketball team.
"Together, he and Jenny built the strong foundation of our company's values, culture, and mission of improving people's lives by helping them lose weight and keep it off," Patti Larchet, Jenny Craig's chief executive officer, wrote on the company's Web site.
Craig was born March 22, 1932, in Vancouver, British Columbia. In the mid-1950s, he worked as a part-time instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studios and later purchased five franchises.
In the 1970s, he bought a stake in a women's salon, Body Contour Inc., and later opened other salons. It was during this period he met Jenny Guidroz Bourcq, who worked as director of operations for the salons. The two later married.
The Craigs sold their stake in Body Contour and moved to Australia where they opened the first Jenny Craig weight loss center.
Sid Craig is survived by his wife and five children. Funeral services for Craig will be private.

The price paid by Candy Spelling for the 16,500-square-foot property works out to $2,848 a square foot, a record price for a Los Angeles condo unit, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
The previous record of $2,700 was set at the same Century tower project in February.
Spelling will be move into her unit in about a year, her attorney Stephen Goldberg said.
The condo isn't the first record-breaking residence for Spelling. Her current abode, a 123-room mansion that she and her husband dubbed "The Manor," is the largest home in Los Angeles County at 56,500 square feet.
The house in the affluent Holmby Hills neighborhood sits on six acres and has 11 bedrooms, 16 bathrooms and amenities such as a bowling alley, doll museum and gift-wrapping room.
Related Cos., developer of the Century project, said Spelling's new digs will have a living room with two working fireplaces, a dining room for 25 guests, a 4,000-square-foot master bedroom suite and a conservatory with a rose garden, as well as a swimming pool and deck.
Goldberg said Spelling was moving in order to downscale her living space after her husband's death in 2006. She'll now seek to sell her lavish estate, which was built between 1986 and 1990, he said.

Christian Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic put on brave faces at the premiere of The Dark Knight at Coliseum Cinema on Wednesday in Barcelona, Spain.
The 34-year-old Welsh actor arrived in a 15-car motorcade and appeared calm in the wake of allegations he assaulted his mother and one of his three sisters at a top London hotel. Bale put on a happy face and did not speak to reporters and made no comment about the incident.
In box office news, The Dark Knight earned $24 million on Monday and $20.8 million on Tuesday. That means it just broke another record–the first film to cross the $200 million mark in a mere five days!

It was the first day of shooting, but it’s probably not the last Colin will see of Emma.
The Sun reported last month that the English writer has tamed the notoriously wild actor and he has fallen for her hook, line and sinker.

Fox has provided ShockTillYouDrop.com with the new one-sheet for Jennifer's Body, written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama. In the film, a gorgeous cheerleader (Megan Fox) is possessed by a demon and starts feeding off the boys in a small Minnesota farming town. Her "plain Jane" best friend (Amanda Seyfried) must stop her and go after the Satan-worshipping rock band responsible for the horrible transformation. Also starring Adam Brody, J.K. Simmons and Amy Sedaris.
I'm torn about seeing this. I dont like graphic movies but I wanna see Megan and Amandas sex scene.
MARK BAUERLEIN: WHY YOUNG AMERICANS ARE THE DUMBEST GENERATION
In his provocative new book The Dumbest Generation, Mark Bauerlein argues that "the digital age stupefies young Americans and jeopardizes our future" by turning out hyper-networked kids who can track each other's every move with ease but are largely ignorant of history, economics, culture, and other subjects he believes are prerequisites for meaningful civic participation.
Bauerlein, an English professor at Emory University who has written for reason, notes that a 2003 Foundation for Individual Rights survey found that only one out of 50 college students could name the first right mentioned in the First Amendment. Between 1982 and 2002, the National Endowment for the Arts estimates that the share of 18-to-24-year-olds who reported reading a single poem, play, novel, or short story outside of school or work dropped from 60 percent to 43 percent. "I tell students in class all the time, 'You guys are lazy and ignorant,'" says Bauerlein. "Don't tell me how busy you are. You watch two hours and 41 minutes of TV a day."
Bauerlein is a self-described "educational conservative," but his politics do not fit easily into existing categories. "I believe in a core knowledge, a core tradition, that everyone should learn," he explains. "Socially, I'm pretty liberal and libertarian; I think the drug war is one of the most absurd and costly government programs ever created."
Bauerlein talked with reason.tv's Nick Gillespie in June. Watch the approximately eight-minute interview above.
So, ONTD, is this the dumbest generation? I say...yes, abso-fucking-lutely. He has so many good points. I really think everyone should watch this video and just think about it for a minute.
LONDON - New details are emerging in the arrest of “The Dark Knight” star Christian Bale.
The incident which lead to the actor’s arrest reportedly occurred following a confrontation between the actor and his mother, Jenny Bale. She allegedly insulted Bale’s wife, Sandra ‘Sibi’ Blazic, according to Britain’s The Daily Mail.
A source close to Bale told the newspaper he “flew off the handle” at his London hotel when Jenny Bale said “some outrageous things” about her son and his wife.
Though “The Dark Knight” star was arrested and released on bail, the newspaper’s source claims Bale did nothing wrong.
“Christian was stressed, but he didn’t lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother. He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife,” the source said.
Bale’s lawyers issued a statement Tuesday denying the allegations of assault.
The actor’s sister, Sharon Bale, told Britain’s Telegraph an “incident” had occurred but would not offer up any details surrounding the events that lead to her brother’s arrest.
“OK, there was an incident but the police are dealing with it,” she said. “It is an extremely sensitive situation. There is nothing more I can say.”
Jenny Bale was also tight-lipped, but said they did not call the police.
“Yes, I was there, and yes there was a family situation, but the police are handling it and I cannot say anymore at the moment,” Jenny told the Telegraph. “We didn’t call the police to the scene. I can’t say anymore, but we didn’t call the police.”
Bale is expected to attend “The Dark Knight” premiere in Barcelona, Spain, on Wednesday
NO COMMENT on how all this shit was handled by an Italian newspaper...the title? BATMAN IS A BAD BOY, HE BEATS HIM MA...and then went on saying that he PUNCHED and KICKED her...WHAT THE FRIGGIN' FUCK??? Bastards -.-'
LOS ANGELES -- Even the most heinous villains can be reformed. But can the actors who play them?
It's an apt question for Gary Oldman, once Hollywood's go-to guy for psychos and assassins, but now an ally and father figure to the righteous likes of Batman and Harry Potter.
"I just got into this thing of (playing) the bad guy," says the 50-year-old Brit at a Beverly Hills hotel. "You come onto the scene and it's in Sid and Nancy. You're unknown and no one really knows who you are. Up to that point I had had a career in the theatre and I'd been in comedies and musicals, all sorts of thing -- and then you do that sort of performance (as Sex Pistols bass player Sid Vicious) and slowly your career narrows and narrows and narrows."
Yet if his choices became increasingly limited, they were at least lucrative. Following Sid and Nancy in 1981, Oldman spent more thean a decade delivering memorably malevolent turns in such hits as Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), True Romance (1993), The Professional (1994), The Fifth Element (1997) and Air Force One (1997).
Now, though, he is perhaps best recognized by the new generation for the kind, stalwart wisdom he has brought to two of Hollywood's biggest franchises: As decent cop Jim Gordon in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and as Sirius Black, mentor and godfather to J.K. Rowling's boy wizard Harry Potter.
Breaking from bad guys was a struggle, he recalls -- not because of a desire to do so but because filmmakers refused to see him as anything else.
"I've played bad guys because I've worked for people with less imagination than (Batman director) Chris Nolan," he says.
Which isn't to suggest you can't detect a twinge of envy in Oldman's voice as he describes time spent watching the late Heath Ledger cut loose as the diabolical Joker, the sort of raving lunatic Oldman himself might have once played. (Indeed, one of Ledger's influences was Sid Vicious.)
"You have to sort of get out of your way when you play a good guy -- you can't do too much," Oldman says. "Gordon is the vase, and the Joker and Batman are the flowers ... You want to do stuff, (but you must) service what's there on the page. You know Heath can take those lines and he's got the freedom in the role to just take it places, and I think it reflects in the way that it's shot. There's immediacy and a danger in the scenes with Heath because Chris has just said, 'You know what, put it on a Steadicam, put it on handheld, and let's just see what this kid does. Let's see what he's going to do as the Joker.' There's a freedom there and you don't have that with Gordon. You're more reigned in, which I think it's equally challenging. But you can understand why actors like all the villains and the bad guys."
Off-screen, Oldman has mellowed as well, raising three sons from two previous marriages. It's a far cry from the debauched hard-driving lifestyle he was once known for. "I'm getting more square," he says of fatherhood and family life. "I find myself saying things that my parents said."
Such as? "Um, what's the big one I keep telling them? I always say, 'A lazy man works twice as hard, so you've got to do a job right the first time. Take your time and take the time it takes. Put the energy, the effort and the focus into it, otherwise you just end up doing it again' ... You just become more and more old-fashioned: 'Clean that up, do that -- you know, don't argue. Bring your plate to the thing.' ... I always say to them, 'Hate me now, love me later.' You're civilizing them.
"That's what you're doing ... And if you don't they'll come to you when they're all messed up and 22 years old and go, 'Where the *!$% were you? Why didn't you help me?' "

My poor bb Bale looks like he wants to kill himself - check him out putting his head in his hands and rubbing his eyes at 0.34. It's pretty clear he haaaaates the promotional aspect of the job.
Also, Maggie tells an interviewer (in so many words) to STFU:
