Fembot Speaks Exclusively To MSN

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As soon as pop superstar Rihanna heard a rough version of Take A Bow (written by singer -Ne-Yo) she knew it had to be hers. Not only was she attracted to the piano-led track about dealing with a cheating boyfriend ("It's just such a great sassy song. It's a feminist anthem. I just love songs that girls can see eye to eye with") but it was also a topic that Rihanna herself could relate to.

"I've been cheated on. When I was young my boyfriend was unfaithful, it happens," she told us.

We bet the guy concerned is still kicking himself.

The Barbadian beauty continued: "What did I do? I walked away. If someone does it once he's going to do it again. I wasn't in a marriage, you know, so as soon as something like that happens you have to walk away."

"Oh I love Umbrella. I could never get tired of listening to it. I don't know why. There are a few songs of mine that I sometimes get bored of playing but never Umbrella. The audience goes crazy when it comes on. I could never tire of that."

However, the singer ,20, has struggled to adjust to the constant media attention after the success of Umbrella made her a global superstar - most notably the focus on her relationship with 'close friend' RnB star Chris Brown.

"I don't have a private life," she admits. "It's been hard to adjust to it all. It's been hard, definitely. But it's something you just have to deal with."

One thing the Barbadian beauty is happy to talk about though is her work. She is working on her next album with a certain red hot producer. "I love Mark Ronson. We've talked about doing some thing together on my next album."

And is she a fan of Ronson favourite Amy Winehouse? "Oh I love Amy. I think she's great, so unique. I love her album. And I also love what Duffy is doing, she's brilliant as well."

When we tell her she should form a supergroup with Winehouse and Duffy, she can barely hide her excitement, "How amazing would that be," she squeals. "We've all got three different voices, it would be brilliant. Now that would be a feminist anthem."

Be afraid gentleman, be very afraid.

Take A Bow is out now.

Full Casting Announced for Tennant’s RSC Hamlet

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Full casting details have been announced for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s highly anticipated Hamlet, starring David Tennant (pictured) as the Prince and Patrick Stewart, following his Tony-nominated Broadway turn in Macbeth, as the Ghost and Claudius (See News, 11 Sep 2007). RSC chief associate Gregory Doran’s production runs in rep at Stratford-upon-Avon’s Courtyard Theatre from 5 August to 15 November 2008 (previews from 24 July), after which it is expected to transfer to a West End theatre (still tbc) for a limited Christmas season.

Tennant and Stewart are joined in the company by Penny Downie (The Penelopiad, The Prisoner’s Dilemma, Dinner) as Gertrude, Oliver Ford-Davies (most recently seen in Much Ado About Nothing and Saint Joan at the National) as Polonius, John Woodvine (Timon of Athens, Don Carlos, TV’s Shameless and Rome) as the Player King and, as previously reported (See News, 7 May 2008), Mariah Gale as Ophelia.

Also in the ensemble are: David Ajala (Reynaldo), Sam Alexander (Rosencrantz and Second Gravedigger), Edward Bennett (Laertes), Ricky Champ (Lucianus) Ewen Cummins (Barnardo), Robert Curtis (Franciso), Tom Davey (Guildenstern), Peter De Jersey (Horatio), Samuel Dutton (Lord) Ryan Gage (Oscric), Mark Hadfield (Gravedigger), Jim Hooper (Priest), Keith Osborn (Marcellus), Roderick Smith (Lord and Captain), Andrea Harris (Lady), Riann Steele (Lady) and Zoe Thorne (Lady and Player). The production is designed by Robert Jones, with lighting by Tim Mitchell, music by Paul Englishby, sound by Jeremy Dunn, movement by Michael Ashcroft and fight direction by Terry King.

Commenting on Tennant’s titular casting, director Gregory Doran said: “Hamlet is a play that waits for the right actor to come along. This Hamlet will be to some extent who David is. You have to have an actor who can be, as Ophelia describes him, ‘the poet, the soldier, the scholar’. He has to be someone who is charismatic and can be brutal and course, and can be witty and moving and can physically take on the demands of the part. I believe that David’s skills fill all these criteria.”

Doran has just opened his production of A Midsummer Night's Dream which is performed by largely the same company of supporting actors who will be performing in Hamlet as well as his upcoming production of Love's Labour's Lost, the RSC’s first staging of the play in more than 12 years, in which David Tennant will play the lovelorn Berowne with Mariah Gale as the Princess of France, Nina Sosanya as Rosaline and Oliver Ford-Davies as Holofernes. Love's Labour's joins the Courtyard rep from 2 October to 15 November 2008.

Holly Madison's Plan B for babies!

"I really wanted to have kids with Hef," Girls Next Door star Holly Madison, 28, tells Us of unsuccessfully attempting to conceive with Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, 82. "We tried everything, and it did not work." Despite her heartbreak, Madison reveals she still intends to give her beau a baby. Her plan B? "I need a Hef-esque sperm donor who's a creative genius, totally hott and has dark hair." (Adoption is not in consideration.) In the meantime, says Madison, forget those long-swirling engagement rumors: "He isn't open to getting married at all. But I totally don't care, and my feelings for him have not changed. I'd rather have kids!

Cameron Traces Path From Teen Idol Fame to Current Life as Devout Christian and Father of Six

May 27, 2008

Kirk Cameron joined "Good Morning America" to talk about his new autobiography, "Still Growing," in which he traces his path from teen idol fame on the hit show "Growing Pains" to his current life as a father of 6 and devout Christian.

Here is the first chapter of the new book.

On Top of the World: 1987

I reached for the rubber knob on my cassette player and cranked Prince to the max. He was singing about purple rain, but the L.A. skies were a clear blue that sunny day. I was flyin' down the freeway in my new Honda 2.0 SI Prelude, the wind giving even more bounce to my already afro'd mullet.

I grinned, remembering the cruel pleasure of deceiving Tracey Gold yet again. Not that it was hard to do -- Tracey was the most gullible person in the world. Just last week while carpooling to the studio I had started in on her.

"This car's got the sweetest technology, Trace," I bragged. "It's so smart, all you have to do is set it on automatic pilot and it drives itself."

"Shut up. Does not," she furrowed her brow.

Wow! This cover even surprised me.

It is soooo bad.

And the timing is peculiar or not - depending on how you look at it.

The Hills is in repeats and there’s not a lot of love for Heidi and Spencer.

However, a few weeks ago, reported on how Janice Min & her staff were meeting with Heidi & Spencer in the Us Weekly newsroom.

“In fact, they [Heidi and Spencer] showed up to have lunch in a conference room, holding court like prom king and queen visiting the yearbook staff,” according to

I guess this is what they cooked up in that meeting! This shows how “in bed” Us Weekly is with Heidi & Spencer.

Moving to the sidebar.

It’s one big design mess!

It’s not immediately clear which line goes with each story. The last line “Jess’ plea to Tony’ comes out of no where.

Bottom Line: Definitely below rate base for Us Weekly. Yes it’s summer, but you guys need to get back to work and FAST!

The Next Cover Story will Be "Heidi is 6 weeks pregnant." lmao.

This is a one note cover for In Touch.

What does that mean you ask?

Well, basically, I know the entire story by reading the cover.

Moving on to the insets.

We have Ashlee saying “My Beautiful Honeymoon.” Ahh, how sweet. Still no bump though - which is the real next step in the Ashlee Simpson drama.

Then Lindsay and Samantha ‘go public.’ And…?

Bottom Line: It’s summer time - but In Touch will not have a big summer sale from this issue - UNLESS ANGELINA GIVES BIRTH THIS WEEK.

Talk about big gets!

Life & Style has an exclusive with Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and this looks TOTALLY riveting.

According to the mag’s cover, Shiloh feels so left out and is LONELY.

Doesn’t this just want to make you cry?

Okay - let’s get serious for a moment.

This has to be a joke - right?

Oh - no wait it’s not. For a second, I thought I was hallucinating.

But it’s really the cover of the magazine.

With all the pictures of Brad and Angie shopping with Shiloh - this is what they came up with???

I’m stunned!

In other news, what is Tony’s real problem with Jessica.? Um, let me guess. Could it be her controlling dad? Or that she wants to get married immediately? The list could go on.

And look, Life & Style shows a picture of Lindsay kissing Samantha Ronson and says “she’s kissing her girlfriend.” Thanks for telling me what I’m seeing.

On another note, I’m glad Life & Style took my advice and is no longer labeling its products on the cover.

Bottom Line: Awful - but cute picture of Shiloh will avoid total disaster.

American Idol David Cook, Runner-Up David Archuleta Dominate Billboard Downloads Chart

He's been the nation's seventh American Idol for less than a week, but David Cook is already proving that, when it comes to marketable, bankable artists, he certainly fits the bill.

"The Time of My Life," the coronation song that Cook belted out at the close of last week's "Idol" finale, opens at #1 on next week's Billboard Hot Digital Tracks chart, which ranks the best-selling digital singles nationwide. With 236,000-plus downloads, Cook bumps Rihanna's "Take a Bow" from the top spot — but that's not all.

All told, 17 of the songs the 25-year-old Missouri guitarist performed during the show's most recent season are sprinkled throughout the list, according to the latest SoundScan figures. Cook's "Dream Big" follows at #7 (with 111,000 downloads), while his rendition of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" from the season's final performance episode occupies the #9 position, having generated 97,900 downloads. At #14, with 80,000 downloads, it's Cook's cover of Collective Soul's "The World I Know," while his take on Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" was downloaded 60,000 times, earning it the chart's #18 spot.

Likewise, Cook's version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" comes in at #21 (with 56,300 sold), his rendition of Mariah Carey's "Always Be My Baby" follows at #27 (46,600), and his performance of Lionel Richie's "Hello" occupies the #30 slot (42,300).

For being this year's "Idol" runner-up, David Archuleta isn't doing so bad himself. While he failed to inspire the sort of download action that Cook has, his take on Elton John's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" was the country's 23rd-most downloaded song, with sales of nearly 50,700. Two spots behind that, with 49,100 downloads, is his first single, "In This Moment," followed at #36 by his cover of John Lennon's "Imagine," which generated close to 40,000 downloads. Archuleta has 11 other songs on next week's download chart.

Love Cook, not crazy about the song, but I really hope he breaks the male Idol curse y/y?

Globe offers its readers a strong cover this week featuring Ted Kennedy.

People are still shocked by his diagnosis and with the big cancer initiative in the news, this cover is very timely.

The added insets “family secrets he’ll take to the grave” and the “truth about Chappaquiddick” takes this cover to another level.

In less somber news, Demi hubby, aka, Ashton Kutcher has a love child? Would you be surprised? I wouldn’t be.

Plus - American Idol is rigged. One day someone will definitively prove this to be true.

Bottom Line: If this does not deliver above average sales for Globe, I’m not sure what will.

This cover is emotional and actually quite sweet.

It’s very difficult to get a cover to make you feel something - and this one does.

Readers are cheering for Britney and the story also feels “new.”

We also get details on Brit’s new man - which is starting to build buzz.

The insets on OK’s cover aren’t awful either.

Bottom Line: In a week filled with really bad covers from the celebrity weekly category, this one should do quite well. I expect OK! to surge on the newsstand.

Star brings out an oldie. (Cheezy - sorry)

It’s the “Nanny Tells All” cover.

I simply don’t believe that the “Nanny told All.”

Plus, you can tell Star is really going for this cover not having a ton of insets. It makes the cover story feel very impactful.

Sarah Jessica Reveals Best Part About Sex in New York: The Fans!

The Sex and the City foursome created a fashion and film sensation on the pink carpet outside New York's Radio City Music Hall for the U.S. premiere of their movie Tuesday night.

"The best part about making the movie was being back with the women on the set all day every day, and the best part about tonight is being here ... with the fans," Sarah Jessica Parker said as the crowds squealed and waved around her.

Parker wore a glamorous Nina Ricci gown, complemented with dazzling Fred Leighton jewels, as did Kristin Davis, who donned Donna Karan and 19th Century diamonds. Cynthia Nixon chose a Narciso Rodriguez dress, and Kim Cattrall embodied her inner "Samantha" in a low-cut, beaded Vivienne Westwood cocktail dress.

The set up might have been equally bedazzled in crystals, but it was the stars shining through the rain that got the most attention. The first person to walk the carpet was Matthew Broderick, who was glowing with pride and support for his wife, Parker. Other supportive partners included Nixon's girlfriend, who wore a gorgeous linen suit and smiled ear-to-ear.

Donna Karan, Todd Oldham and, of course, Sex stylist Patricia Field came to represent the fashion set – and Project Runway's Christian Siriano stole the show, joking to PEOPLE, "Oh yeah, SJP calls all the time. She called last night, she was eating some Mac-n-Cheese and just wanted to chat."

Ashley Olsen, Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Edie Falco, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Lil' Kim, Melania Trump and Jerry Seinfeld were some more of New York's finest out to see the flick.

Darren Starr – creator of the hit HBO show that inspired the movie – called the experience "amazing." "This has come full circle – no, it's more actually like a rocket ship," he said.

Photos from the NY premiere have been posted here and over here, but a few different ones can be seen after the jump.

New Bond book gets big fanfare

LONDON, England (AP) -- A catsuited model in stiletto heels strode the deck of a British warship with Royal Navy helicopters roaring overhead. It was not a bout of naval hijinks, but the year's most-hyped literary event -- the publication of a new adventure for super-spy James Bond. The larger-than-life launch Tuesday of the novel "Devil May Care" proves that 100 years after the birth of 007 creator Ian Fleming, the Bond brand is stronger than ever.

A large crowd of journalists and onlookers gathered to watch model Tuuli Shipster, whose silhouette adorns the cover of the book's British edition, bring the first published copies up the River Thames in a military speedboat before unpacking them aboard HMS Exeter, a destroyer moored near Tower Bridge.

Ewan designs 50th anniversary Triumph Bonneville

Hollywood actor and motorcycle enthusiast Ewan McGregor is helping British bike company Triumph celebrate 50 years of Bonneville.

McGregor, known as much for his roles in movies such as Trainspotting and Star Wars as for his round-the-world travels on BMW motorcycles, has designed the 50th anniversary Bonneville with copper-plated tanks and Belstaff black-waxed cotton on the seat and side panel.

It is inspired by a bike in his collection of vintage machines, as well as his love of the legendary motorcycle enthusiast, Triumph rider and fellow Hollywood actor Steve McQueen.

rapper's ego is thankfully MIA

Maya Arulpragasam's self-marketing gene is missing in action.

"Fame is really wasted on me," sighs the electro/dance/hip-hop pioneer better known as M.I.A.

After four years, a high-profile tour with Gwen Stefani, and two critically-acclaimed albums -- Arular and Kala -- Arulpragasam still can't get the hang of the celebrity game.

"I lack ego . . . I think I'm strong, but I don't know how to present that in the shape of fame," she says.

"Half of me is an observer. I don't know if I really want to promote me as being in the centre of s--- all the time."

Instead, Arulpragasam would rather talk about the effects of the never-ending civil war in Sri Lanka, which claimed another eight lives in a train bombing on Monday.

Her father was a member of a guerrilla group, but abandoned the family only a few years after she was born, leaving her single mom to raise two girls and a son in poverty.

Jimmy, one of 12 tracks from Kala, is a reflection of Arulpragasam's childhood. The song samples an old Bollywood tune, Jimmy Jimmy Jimmy Aaja.

"My mom used to make me go to work after school," she says.

"I was six years old and I had my little boombox, a tape of Jimmy Jimmy, a cloak and a cardboard cut-out of a guitar. I'd do my shows and people would pay me with food."

While performing is in her blood, Arulpragasam still sounds somewhat guilty about her career choice. Her abrasive clash of Third World rhythms, punk samples, gun shots, dance beats, and hip-hop rhymes may be winning her props as a musical revolutionary, but she feels her contributions are minimal.

"My cousin is 25 years old and is an assistant lawyer and gets out 500, 600 people a year that have been wrongfully imprisoned and stuff (in Sri Lanka)," she says.

"I think 'Wow, that's so amazing.' His way of affecting change is so street level and it's really hard to judge what I'm doing and whether it has any affect."

Which might be why Arulpragasam is so blase about promoting herself. She recently designed her first collection of clothes -- based on the colourful, collage-style artwork used on Kala and her website -- but she sounds rather lackadaisical about trying to sell it.

"All the boxes (of clothes) are sitting in my mom's living room at the moment," she says, laughs.

"So we've got to get them out soon or she'll just burn them or take them down to church."

Arulpragasam's line was partly inspired by her recent stint as a model for Marc Jacobs.

She did a photo shoot for the fashion designer -- after she couldn't get into one of his hoity-toity parties -- and was then asked to appear in People's "Most Beautiful People" issue.

"I declined it," she says. "I didn't know what it meant for me. I didn't want to be on that list before being on a creative person's list, y'know? . . . It's better to promote some other idea about beauty."

Chris Cagle, Girlfriend Jailed on Domestic Assault Charges.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Chris Cagle and his girlfriend were being held in a Nashville jail Wednesday morning (May 28) after both were arrested hours earlier on domestic assault charges, according to WTVF-TV in Nashville. At the time of his arrest, Cagle already faced trial on a misdemeanor assault charge in connection with an altercation on Dec. 13 outside a nightclub in Tucson, Ariz.

Cagle's latest arrest occurred around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday after he and girlfriend Jennifer Taut visited Players Inn, a bar located west of Nashville in the Bellevue community. Police reports indicate the couple got into a verbal dispute after leaving the bar and that the disagreement apparently escalated into a physical altercation once they arrived at Cagle's home.

After arriving at Cagle's house, officers determined that Cagle and Taut appeared to be intoxicated and that both showed signs of physical abuse. According to a police affidavit, Cagle had a bump on his head caused by Taut hitting him with an umbrella, and Taut had a scrape on her lip and a sore arm from Cagle hitting her with her purse. According to the television station, the couple refused to leave the house, and Taut told police she would rather go to jail than leave Cagle's home.

Cagle and Taut were arrested and taken into custody under Tennessee state domestic violence laws that considered both of them to be a primary aggressor. The law also mandates that both of them remain in jail until 4:40 p.m. Wednesday. Bond has been set at $1,500 each.

In his previous legal scrape, Cagle is scheduled to stand trial on Sept. 23 in Tucson on a misdemeanor assault charge in connection with an altercation outside a local nightclub. He is accused of punching Mark Barry of Tucson after Barry's girlfriend became verbally abusive because the singer refused to sign an autograph for her. Police said Cagle had already signed several items for her. During a preliminary hearing on April 21, Cagle's attorney said the singer acted in self-defense. Barry has filed a civil suit against Cagle and his sound engineer, Kenneth Hoyt.

Earle Hagen, Who Composed Noted TV Tunes, Dies at 88.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Earle H. Hagen, a onetime big-band trombonist who wrote some of the most famous theme songs in television history, died Monday in Rancho Mirage, Calif., near Palm Springs. He was 88 and lived in Rancho Mirage.

He died of natural causes, said his wife, Laura.

Mr. Hagen, a prolific inventor of memorably melodic riffs in a variety of musical idioms, scored dozens of television shows from 1953 to 1986, including “Make Room for Daddy,” “The Mod Squad,” “Eight Is Enough” and “The Dukes of Hazzard,” and he may be the most idly hummed composer of all time, at least among the baby-boom generation of television viewers who grew up in the 1960s.

He wrote the folksy, countrified whistle that opened “The Andy Griffith Show,” accompanying Sheriff Andy Taylor (Mr. Griffith) and his young son, Opie (Ron Howard), down a dirt road toward a fishing hole; he did the whistling himself. He wrote the swinglike anthem for “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” accompanying Mr. Van Dyke’s entry into his suburban home and his tumble over an ottoman. (In later seasons, Mr. Van Dyke would sidestep the ottoman to the same playful musical phrase.) He wrote the cool, cosmopolitan and suggestively exotic theme for the espionage drama “I Spy.” He wrote the cheerily mock-military anthem for the bumpkin-in-the-marines comedy “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C,” starring Jim Nabors. And he wrote the perky pop theme for the Marlo Thomas vehicle “That Girl.”

“He was one of the pioneers of original music for television,” said Jon Burlingame, who teaches the history of film music at the University of Southern California and wrote “TV’s Biggest Hits: The Story of Television Themes From ‘Dragnet’ to ‘Friends’ ” (Schirmer, 1996). “He was a gifted melodist who could see a show, imagine what it needed dramatically or comedically and translate it into music that within one or two hearings became familiar.”

Report: Tony Romo Tells Jessica Simpson Her Dad "Had to Back Off"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo are back on — but under one condition.

Her notoriously controlling father Joe needs to stay away.

A pal from Romo's Eastern Illinois University tells the Chicago Sun-Times that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback "did agree to go to [sister Ashlee's] wedding -- keeping his promise to Jessica, but he made it super-clear that if they were to give it another go, her dad had to seriously back off."

Their relationship, the pal added, is "a trial thing," depending on Joe "leaving them alone" and not trying to manage Romo's life, career and endorsement deals.

[Read what a body language expert had to say about their relationship.]

Split rumors surfaced the week that Ashlee got hitched. Pete Wentz refused to comment on them, telling Ryan Seacrest, "I don't know anything about what's going on with them."

Romo was noticeably absent from a recent trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, that the singer took with her parents. While leaving the airport, she was photographed wearing a Dallas Cowboys cap, suggesting a reconciliation.

Ashlee Simpson Becomes Ashlee Wentz

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Newly married Ashlee Simpson is changing her name to Ashlee Wentz in honor of her husband, Fall Out Boy Pete Wentz.

"I think that that's something that a woman should do when they're marrying a man," she tells PEOPLE. "It's a tradition that I think is a great tradition."

The singer, whose May 17 wedding featured an Alice in Wonderland-themed reception, says that privately she'll go by Ashlee Wentz and professionally she'll be Ashlee Simpson-Wentz.

Pete Wentz says he left the name change decision to his wife. "These decisions with Ashlee and her name are all completely up to Ashlee," Wentz says. "I want her to do these kinds of things the way she wants to do them."

Still, he admits, he was flattered. "Oh man, I was like upgrade me! You know what I'm saying? The Wentz family, our Christmas card just got upgraded!" he says. "It feels insane. It feels unreal."

Raven Symone's Largest Fan Site Shut Down, Fan Angry

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The owner of Raven Symone’s largest fan site has shut down the site and says it’s because Raven is a flop and didn’t even try. And she wasn’t grateful at all for her fans. Here’s his statement:

The time has come for me to personally close the site. We were at the top of our game and I cannot be more happy with the way the site had gone. The members were all so loyal. However I made the decision to close the site based on this past year. This was supposed to be the best year for Raven professionally and she wasted it!

The movie did great, she promoted I couldn’t have been happier, I got to meet her and even though she was very standoffish it completed my goal of wanting to meet her. The whole album deal just infuriates me! She had a great album and she refused to do anything with it. She ended up selling only 4,400 copies!!!! That is a huge flop.

She did zero promotion and didn’t acknowledge it on her OWN official website which showed little to no care for this album which is sad. What just did it for me was her management team, we were told we would get an interview for the website 4 months ago… then it comes time for it and they decide we don’t need it. Cause raven is so busy right? All the promotion we did online for years was nothing but free promotion for them. I am done supporting someone who just doesn’t care about her projects.

I wish all the fans well and as for me, I have finally moved on…

On same day of arrest, Noah also received traffic citations.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Joakim Noah had more than one run-in with the law at the University of Florida on Memorial Day weekend.

On the same day the Bulls center was arrested for possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and having an open container of alcohol, he also was issued two traffic citations.

Noah, 23, was issued citations for driving with a suspended license and for not wearing a seat belt by the University of Florida Police Department on Sunday.

Noah's speeding Hummer was stopped, which led to the officer learning of the suspended license.

Florida coach Billy Donovan told the Gainesville Sun that he talked to Noah.

"He's realized he made a mistake," Donovan told the newspaper. "I want to see what happens with everything that went on there. In my conversation with him, he feels bad.

"The thing I've tried to talk to him about is there are so many young kids who look up to him, and he's such a giving kid and he's always given his time. He needs to turn this into a positive and being able to help young kids because he has a great opportunity to really help a lot of people. I told him to try to turn this into a positive because he's got enough of a personality that he can do that."

On Wednesday, Noah's father said he didn't understand the fuss being made about his son's arrest.

"I don't understand all that fuss for just drinking a beer on the street," Yannick Noah said Tuesday at the French Open.

Joakim could face up to six months in jail and a $500 fine for the marijuana charge.

"I talk to him every day on the phone," said Yannick Noah, who was at Roland Garros on Tuesday for the dedication of a walkway named after him. "He'll soon come over to France to see me."

Joakim Noah led Florida to consecutive NCAA titles before being picked ninth by the Bulls in the NBA draft last year.

Miley Invited to Add Lustra to Her Repertoire

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Or, use their star power to enhance your own name-recognition.

Figuring the kid didn't know any better, the L.A. band Lustra, which previously spotlighted the similarities between its tune "Scotty Doesn't Know" and the Hannah Montana tune "Rockstar," has invited the fictional pop star and the real live girl she inhabits to join them onstage this week and let the audience decide for itself.

"We don't want anything other than credit for the music we worked so very hard on," Lustra guitarist Nick Cloutman said Tuesday. "We don't believe for a second that Ms. Cyrus knew what was happening and was only following instructions."

A statement that's either a gracious attempt to let bygones be bygones or a dig at 15-year-old Miley Cyrus' business acumen.

But just in case Cyrus is unable to perform at Lustra's show Thursday at the Viper Room in West Hollywood, the band has also declared its willingness to appear on Hannah Montana as the singer's musical influence.

A Disney Channel rep had no comment on Lustra's magnanimous offer.

InTouch is reporting that George Clooney has dumped cocktail waitress Sarah Larson. The pair have been dating for over a year now.

One of Larson's friend has said that Clooney moved out of his Los Angeles home while the model/waitress removed her stuff. An "insider" was also talking to the magazine:

"George is relieved to be single again," an insider tells the mag. "He thinks Sarah is sweet and that is why it was so hard to break up with her. The truth is they had little in common and he just doesn't want to be tied down," explains the insider.

Sara Larson should be slapped in the face, the girl could have made bank by getting pregnant and marrying him, but now she has nothing ... well she will have all her interviews, modeling gigs, some interviewing jobs and then go on a reality show.

What is up with George Clooney dating women for a year then dumping them? Classic signs of a closet case.source

Taking a break from the recording studio, Amy Winehouse gets some late night cleaning done on Wednesday night at her Camden home.

The singer vacuumed while smoking and still managed to take the trash out.

Wino is a true multi-tasker!

In other news, another member of Amy’s crew has been busted for drug abuse.

Alex Haines, an employee of her label who was instructed to keep an eye on the troubled singer, was fired after he was allegedly caught smoking crack on tape.

Ironically, he was hired to keep an eye on her and ensure that Amy remains on the straight and narrow.

He has since been fired from the gig.

Scarlett Johansson is on the prowl for owls and fairies!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Talk about dedication towards work – Scarlett Johansson has been staying up until 5.30am and drinking whiskey to record owls and see fairies.

The ‘Lost in Translation’ star says her producer, ‘TV On The Radio's’ David Sitek, wanted her album ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’ to be incorporated with unique sounds so that the LP sounds “like we've drunk cough medicine and seen Tinkerbell”.

"We spent days trying to record owls,” the Mirror quoted her, as saying.

“Dave told me to have a mini-recorder with me all the time.

“We recorded all kinds of stuff - everywhere you go, Louisiana is alive with sounds,” she added.

Anna Popplewell in the Daily Mail

At first I hardly recognise the elegant little Venus in jeans, with opulent Scarlett Johansson lips. It’s abundantly obvious that Anna Popplewell has done a lot of growing up since she made her name as bossy schoolgirl Susan, one of the four Pevensie children who discover the magic kingdom of Narnia in the Disney film adaptation of C S Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. As Anna puts it, ‘I was 13 when I had my first audition for Susan; 15 when I made the first movie; 16 at the end of the shoot; 17 when it was released; 18 when I filmed the sequel, Prince Caspian, and now I’m 19.’

The comparisons with 18-year-old Emma Watson, who plays Hermione in the Harry Potter films, are irresistible. Both are bright and talented, and both have had to live their adolescence in the glare of the spotlight as the iconic screen heroines of two of the most famous children’s fantasy adventures in the world. Anna’s second Narnian outing, in Prince Caspian, gives Susan a startling change of image as a warlike queen in titanium chain mail and a leather corset. ‘I have a lot more action going on in this movie, which is great,’ she says, delighted to find herself armed with a quiver of arrows, the only female on the battlefield as she helps the disinherited Prince Caspian to regain his Narnian throne. ‘I was quite worried about not being able to keep up with the boys,’ she admits, ‘so, on the quiet, I had twice as many riding lessons as anyone else before we went out to film in Prague. When the battle scene was being choreographed, we started a body count of all the people we had “slain” and I was doing very well,’ she adds with a grin.

Melissa Hiatt was a wild wrestling fan from Tallahassee, Florida who chased around pro wrestlers as a teenager and lived out her dream by becoming the super busty  "Missy Hyatt" in the late 1980's and 1990's. Her appearances on the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) lead her into a relationship with then-television star Jason Hervey from "The Wonder Years" and several Atlanta-based sports celebrities.

Hyatt's falling out with Hervey's close friend (and then-WCW President) Eric Bischoff lead to her exit from the wrestling business until she was brought back into the spotlight by Paul Heyman, the genius behind the ECW
promotion, who paired her with the beer drinking brawler "The Sandman." Hyatt's tenure in the land of Extreme came to an end, and she wrote a book titled MISSY HYATT: THE 1st LADY OF WRESTLING, which was released in 2001.

Now appearing at autograph signings and conventions, the 40+ super busty Hyatt has returned once again, this time as the hysterical antagonist on this week's edition of  "The Heyman Hustle," NewsCorp's flagship show on their broadband television network. The show, which debuted today on SUN-TV in the UK, features Heyman ask Hyatt one question ("who have you slept with lately?") and then spend his day on the streets of New York City, in a local convenience store, on the subway, listening to Hyatt blab on about what type of men she likes to sleep with. Hyatt also darts across Lexington Avenue in New York City and does an impromptu lap dance against a billboard of NY Yankee Derek Jeter.

It's the wildest "Heyman Hustle" episode to date, and Hyatt is a powerhouse of a personality, clearing the air about any misconceptions about her being a hooker (sorry guys, sex is one thing, but kissing is another), and the advantages of having sex with men who have money (and Ferraris) over men who have trucks.

This "must-see" episode of the Hustle with professional wrestling's original sexy provocateur is available exclusively at the UK SUN's broadband television network, and you can see it  along with a sexy slideshow here:

Sources: Witness To Claim Kelly Paid Her Off

Sources Say Mystery Witness Will Tell Jury She Was Paid To Return Tape Of Threesome With Kelly, Alleged Victim

Jay Levine
CHICAGO (CBS) ― High drama is on tap for the R. Kelly pornography trial on Wednesday. CBS 2 has learned there's a lot more to the story to be told by a woman claiming to have had sex with Kelly and the alleged teen victim. CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine has exclusive details.

Until now, no one's been able to say they saw R. Kelly and a young teen having sex, only that the people on the now infamous sex tape look like Kelly and the girl who called him her godfather.

Wednesday, the subject of a recent Chicago Sun-Times report will tell the jury about an alleged sexual threesome with R. Kelly and the young girl; testimony expected to trigger major fireworks in the courtroom.

The mystery witness reportedly will claim she got tens of thousands of dollars from Kelly's people to return a tape of the threesome.

But she will also be questioned about what sources close to the case call another botched extortion attempt, which resulted in what prosecutors said, in court, were "Mr. Adam's attempts to have her arrested."

It's not clear which of Kelly's attorneys, Sam Adam Sr. or Sam Adam Jr., they were talking about or what grounds they wanted her arrested.

Sources told CBS 2 there's no videotape of Kelly with that woman or any proof that she demanded or received any money from his people.

In court Tuesday, witnesses including the alleged victim's cousin, Benny Edwards, identified Kelly and the girl as those on the sex tape, though he said he couldn't be 100 percent sure.

But it is Wednesday's testimony that could be explosive, providing either the prosecution's best witness or a major embarrassment.

There have been secret meetings about the witness scheduled to testify Wednesday, detailing what she could say about those sensitive issues.

The testimony was beginning at 11 a.m.

can reality TV get any cheaper? apparently yes

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Now you know networks are hurting: Reality-show budgets are being cut.

Long considered the cheapest of programming genres, reality programs increasingly are under the gun to cut costs. Producers are being urged to shoot shows faster than ever and use indoor settings to help reduce expenses.

"Every year there's more and more budgetary pressure," said Mark Cronin, producer of such VH1 hits as "Rock of Love" and "I Love New York." "Every network is having its budgetary problems, and that's being pushed back toward all content. So there's a constant pressure to produce more for less."

Networks have been reducing the budgets of comedies and dramas to offset television ratings erosion. Producers on such veteran series as ABC's "Boston Legal" and NBC's "Law & Order" responded by shedding cast members, while others, including the daytime soap "Guiding Light," have overhauled production methods.

But reality shows have a reputation as dirt-cheap alternatives to scripted shows. At least they used to be. CBS' globe-trotting "Survivor" might once have been considered an inexpensive solution to fill a time slot, but by today's reality standards, it's highly ambitious.

Pics of the Lohans in Manhattan

Fresh from her cross-continent jaunt to the Cannes Film Festival, Lindsay Lohan is back on our shores and hit the Peninsula Hotel in Manhattan with reality TV's newest celebrities Dina and Ali and the 'forgotten Lohan', little brother Cody.

Linds classed up her usual ensemble (once again, being in a fashion-forward country has not rubbed off on our girl) with a pair of Christian Louboutin high-heeled Mary Janes and an extremely limited edition - only ten were made - Dolce & Gabbana python skin bag.

Ali is definitely a starlet in training, toting a leather Jimmy Choo bag which retails at $1850. She also was holding a designer doggie bag for Lindsay's new puppy. Poor dog.

What I want to know is how she's able to afford these pricey accessories. 'Ugly Betty' must pay really well.

t.i. gets a new reality show with mtv, remains sexy while doing so

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In addition to performing concerts and speaking to youth before reporting to the slammer next year, T.I. now has a crew of cameras watching him do it all. The rapper is using the last of his year on house arrest to film a documentary series for MTV.

According to Variety, the network will go with the self-proclaimed "King of the South" as he performs the remainder of his community service hours and prepares for a one-year prison sentence next spring. The network plans to air the show some time soon after T.I. goes to jail in early 2009.

The series, by Ish Entertainment, has already gotten an eight-episode order from MTV.

"We began the conversations in the middle of deliberations over what would happen to him," said Ish's Michael Hirschorn, whose executive producing with partner Stella Stolper. "The original idea for the show had him staging a series of interventions in each episode with people in danger. But when we visited him under house arrest, it felt much bigger and more powerful than we anticipated."

Tip (born Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.) has a history of being on the wrong side of the law, convicted for selling crack cocaine in the late 1990s. In March, the rapper pled guilty to federal weapons charges; the offense that got him the year's stint.

"Hopefully the mistakes I've made will be a lesson to today's youth and they won't go down that same path," T.I. said.

Tip didn't need the court's permission to do the show, but MTV will stick to the rules of the artist's home confinement. The show will also cover the release of Tip's upcoming album, Paper Trail, heavily inspired by his latest legal woes and the birth of his newborn son.

Rose and Robert work together again

Networks are getting their first glimpse at "Women in Chains!" a self-explanatory female prison pilot to be directed by Robert Rodriguez and star Rose McGowan.

The good folks at first broke the story that the spec script by Josh Miller and Mark Fortin is being sent around to a variety of networks with Rodriguez and McGowan's names attached.

The "Charmed" star would play one of five shackled women who make up the center of the violent drama, which owes no small debt to the women-in-prison exploitation classics of the '70s. AintItCool promises mud wrestling, sadistic guards and cafeteria hosedowns.

Rodriguez and McGowan, now reportedly engaged, first worked together on "Planet Terror," another homage to a '70s exploitation genre.

The news of the circulating "Women in Chains!" pilot comes as HBO is also moving forward on "Bad Girls," an adaptation of the British female prison drama. Last fall FOX was also said to be moving forward on a "Prison Break" spin-off set in a women's prison.

Billie Piper won't let husband watch her

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

DOCTOR WHO star BILLIE PIPER has banned her actor husband LAURENCE FOX from watching the hit British TV show - because she can't stand seeing herself onscreen.

The 25-year-old actress left the sci-fi series in 2006, but is set to reprise her role as the Timelord's sidekick Rose later this year (08).

And Piper admits she won't let her new husband watch any of the programmes - in case he chances upon an episode with her in it.

She says, "He has never seen an episode of Doctor Who with me in it because I won't let him.
"I get really edgy watching myself, and I get even more edgy with my loved ones because they know me and I feel they're going to take the mickey (make fun of me).

"Sitting down to watch my performances makes me cry. It's even worse watching it with another actor, because he can dissect your performance."

Piper and Fox married on New Year's Eve (07) and are expecting their first child together.

Rolling Stone: Flavors of Entanglement Review

Alanis Morissette: Flavors of Entanglement

Nothing gets folks on your team like losing your fiancé to a Hollywood bombshell. So just imagine what Alanis Morissette has been doing since her ex, actor Ryan Reynolds, traipsed off with Scarlett Johansson. Writing about post-romantic stress disorder isn't new for Morissette, but her latest album doesn't rage like "You Oughta Know" — it sounds more like grief. Producer and co-writer Guy Sigsworth (Björk) frames Morissette's candid lyrics with a vaguely New Age grandeur — electro beats, Eastern percussion, orchestral arrangements — amping up the drama on her octave-hiccuping catharsis. On "Citizens of the Planet," the production alternates between ringing tablas and head-banging guitars for an oddly stirring Enya-meets-System of a Down opener. "Moratorium" uses swirling synths and space-age bleeps to distract from quirky Morissette grammaticisms: "I've never let my grasp soften fingers like this." Morissette is at her best on simple piano ballads like "Not As We" — a weeper about starting over on your own — and the emotionally raw "Torch," where she admits, "I miss . . . the thought of us bringing up our kids." Scarjo may have her man, but Morissette has something Johansson doesn't: a heartfelt record.

Famed R&B trio Labelle has officially reunited and will issue their first album of original songs in 33 years.

The new untitled album will be produced by longtime collaborators and legendary Philadephia songwriting team Gamble & Huff as well as rocker Lenny Kravitz.

Labelle, which consists of Patti Labelle, Nona Hendryx, and Sarah Dash, has been sampled by numerous Hip-Hop and R&B artists through the years.

In 2001 Missy Elliott produced an award-winning version of Labelle’s classic 1974 single “Lady Marmalade” that featured Christina Aguilera, Mya, Pink and rapper Lil Kim.

The group was also notably sampled by rapper Nelly and Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland for their hit duet “Dilemma” and Labelle can be heard singing on Outkast’s track “Ghetto Musick,” from their hit double album Speakerboxx/The Love Below.

"The thread that always runs through is that we're sisters and we'll always be sisters,” Patti Labelle said of the group’s staying power.

"We're friends and admirers of each other's work," Nona said. "We talked to him [Kravitz] about the idea of us getting together and invited him to a session. He showed up that day at 5:00 and we haven't stopped working since."

The legendary trio, who formed in 1959 in Philadelphia, will tour to compliment their new album and showcase their updated sounds.

"I feel we're better because of everything we've gone through," said Sarah. "I think all you gotta say is 'we're here.' We're like that caged bird. If you love it, you open the door and let it fly because you know it's going to come back stronger. Well, we're back, baby. Anyone that knows Labelle knows we don't know how to hold anything back."

Labelle's new album will be completed in June and is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2008.

Debbie Graziano Calls Hogans "Phonies"

Debbie Graziano, mother of John Graziano, has accused the Hogan/Bollea family as being "the biggest phonies and two-faced individuals I''ve ever seen". She made these comments when hearing about the recorded tapes of conversations between Hulk and Nick, compared to their supposedly remorseful conduct during court proceedings.

Anyone who saw Hulk perform in the WWF knows what a phoney he is and as for his performance in "Rocky III", well he is one of the few people who can make Sylvester Stallone look like Robert De Niro.

The Hogans are the reason mankind was born with middle fingers. I seriosuly fucking hate these cuntwaffle asshats.

Jennifer Hudson shows some love to her fans in New York City after leaving the Hot 97 radio station in the West Village on Wednesday.

The Oscar-winning dreamgirl is in the Big Apple to promote her sure to be box office hit, Sex and the City: The Movie.

On this occasion, fashion forward Hudson opted to don a bright yellow blouse, uber trendy gladiator sandals and a pair of way-too-see-through leggings.

While we’re totally loving J.Hud’s newly slimmed down bod, this ensemble proves that not only should big girls not cry, but they should also steer away from lycra.

Newly-penned 'Potter prequel' to be auctioned

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A mini-prequel penned by JK Rowling to her blockbuster "Harry Potter" series of books will go up for bids in London next month, the auction house behind the sale said Thursday.

The auction of the 800-word short story comes less than a year after the seventh and final tome in the series about the bespectacled boy wizard, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" went on sale.

"There is just no telling how high the bidding might go," said Sotheby's auction house specialist Philip Errington.

The proceeds will go to two charities: English PEN, which promotes the freedom to write around the world, and Dyslexia Action.

Organisers of the auction had asked 13 authors to submit a story for the sale.

Among them were Doris Lessing, the 2007 winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature; Booker Prize winner Margaret Atwood; and Sebastian Faulks whose, latest offering, an officially authorised James Bond story, went on sale Wednesday.

The only condition set for entries was that the story fit on an A5-sized story card, which measures just 1.48 by x 210 millimetres (5.8 by 8.3 inches).

Rowling's "Harry Potter" series has sold nearly 350 million copies around the world in 65 languages and been turned into a successful film franchise.

eta thanks to masterofmystery

The story is about James and Sirius in their younger years, and will be displayed in Waterstone's branches and on its website the day after the auction.

Love remains buoyant for Pierce Brosnan and wife Keeley in Hawaii

Pierce Brosnan and his wife Keeley were spotted wading through the surf as they enjoy life on the ocean’s wave on holiday in Hawaii. The family Brosnan returned to their favorite vacation spot for a sunshine break in the paradise isle.

Former Bond star Pierce, 55, star of Die Another Day and Goldeneye, and his wife, former journalist Keely Shaye-Smith, splashed around in the ocean on the island of Kauai where they have a holiday home. Curvaceous Keeley wore a two-piece bikini, and Brosnan opted for surfer style shorts as he gave his young sons Dylan 11, and Paris, aged seven, swimming tips.

Eddie Murphy back in 'Beverly Hills Cop'

Brett Ratner negotiating to direct 4th 'Cop' film

On the heels of the successful revival of the "Indiana Jones" franchise, Paramount has set in motion a fourth installment of "Beverly Hills Cop."

Eddie Murphy is attached to reprise his role as Detroit detective Axel Foley, and Brett Ratner is negotiating to direct.

Studio is aiming for a 2009 production start and a summer 2010 release.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce. Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original "Beverly Hills Cop" trilogy with late partner Don Simpson, won't be actively involved in the new film.

Murphy approached the studio about reviving the franchise that cemented his status as a B.O. mega-star. Par brass were eager to land another picture with Murphy after he finished the Karey Kirkpatrick-directed "NowhereLand," which Paramount releases in June 2009.

That film was also produced by Di Bonaventura, who is working on the summer 2009 releases "G.I. Joe" and "Transformers 2."

The studio canvassed a number of directors before choosing Ratner. A writer will be hired shortly.

Released in 1984, the original "Beverly Hills Cop" grossed $316 million worldwide and spawned two sequels. All told, the three pics grossed $712.9 million worldwide. The last was released in 1994.

Murphy is currently toplining the Brian Robbins-directed "A Thousand Words" for DreamWorks.

Ratner has been developing the Hugh Hefner biopic "Playboy" for Universal and Imagine.

Usher: Why ridicule my love life?

For more than a decade, Usher's music has been the soundtrack to a player's lifestyle.

From singing about casual sex when he was just 15 to detailing the devastating details of an affair on his blockbuster CD "Confessions," his songs have been filled with sex, passion, romance, partying, and yes, sometimes love -- but young love, new love, fleeting love. Lyrics about commitment and enduring relationships were hard to find on his platinum-plus albums.

Until now.

Sure, the first single off his new album may talk about "Love in This Club." But Usher is newly married and the father of a 7-month-old son. He has moved on from the party scene to the family life, and his new sense of responsibility has spilled over into his music on "Here I Stand," which comes out on Tuesday.

Green Tours' Main Challenge: the Fans

Radiohead discuss the biggest problems facing their 6-month long Green Tour from an upcoming june rolling stone article
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As even the best-intentioned bands are learning, launching a major environmentally responsible tour is virtually impossible. When Radiohead played the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Virginia, on May 11th, many fans ended up stuck in traffic for as long as six hours on the way to the venue, which is 36 miles outside Washington, D.C. The traffic jam, caused in part by a rainstorm, left drivers stranded on overwhelmed access roads, their engines spewing CO2 into the atmosphere.

and Review:

Carrie's Inferno

I've watched episodes of Sex and the City on HBO maybe five or six times, which obviously indicates I'm not a huge fan but also that I found it agreeable enough from time to time. The movie version, which runs around two and a half hours, takes whatever it was that made the show half-palatable and just amplifies and gussies it up all to hell. The first hour especially is as garish and putrid and spiritually repulsive as can possibly be imagined without throwing up.

Each main character -- Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw, Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones, Kristin Davis's Charlotte York and Cynthia Nixon's Miranda Hobbes -- have their own story here. (Naturally.) Three experience the usual issues with boyfriends/husbands, but it's all blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. The last 90 minutes is a little more tolerable than the first hour, but that's like saying the visit to the dentist got better after he pulled the tooth with a pair of pliers sans novocaine.

The soul of this movie is infected with gross materialism, the flaunting of me-me egos and the endless nurturing of the characters' greed and/or sense of entitlement. It's all about money to piss away and flashy things to wear and lush places where the the girls lunch and exchange dreary confessional chit-chat. And this, mind you, is where millions of middle-class women in every semi-developed country around the globe live in their dreams. They're going to this movie right now in multitudes. Sad. Really sad. Because SATC is crap through and through.

A few items back I called Sex and the City a Taliban recruitment film. All I know is that I felt ashamed, sitting in a Paris movie theatre, that this film, right now, is portraying middle-class female American values, and that this somehow reflects upon the country that I love and care deeply about. It's a kind of advertisement for the cultural shallowness that's been spreading like the plague for years, and for what young American womanhood seems to be currently about -- what it wants, cherishes, pines for. Not so much the realizing of intriguing ambitions or creative dreams as much as wallowing in consumption as the girls cackle and toss back Margaritas.

The HBO show's dialogue, frequently written by Michael Patrick King, who directed and wrote the screenplay for the film, never riled me that much. But I was wincing at it during today's screening at the UGC Les Halles. Some concepts play better on the tube; amplifying them only pushes the flaws into your face. All I know is that the faux-splendor of the movie -- the insipid Marie Antoinette-ishness of the damn thing with the look-at-me clothes and sets and nouveau-riche ickiness of the apartments and restaurants -- felt to me like a kind of hell.

I'll tap out some more after I come back from dinner this evening. We're having our first day without rain here, and life is short. To hell with this movie, and scratch any woman who says she liked it off the list. For anything.

take that, rewind it back, ursher got the voice that make ya booty go *clap*

Usher's "Here I Stand" (LaFace/Zomba) should stand tall at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 next week, as the set tops the Nielsen SoundScan Building chart, released today (May 28).

Unweighted first-day sales for "Stand" from the chart's panel of nine accounts through the close of business yesterday came in at 146,000.

That figure is near the 154,000 that Mariah Carey's "E=MC2" (Island) began with in April. She finished the week with 463,000, though that number was amplified by an aggressive promotional campaign that included stops on "Oprah Winfrey" and "American Idol."

Usher's debut might be more in line with the sales bow that greeted Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static" earlier this year. That Brushfire effort launched a first-day figure of 121,000 on the Building chart and finished the week with 375,000.

Usher's last album, 2004's "Confessions," bowed atop The Billboard 200 with 1.1 million sold in its first week and spent nine weeks in the penthouse. With 9.54 million sold in the U.S., Usher's "Confessions" is the 21st best-selling album of the Nielsen SoundScan era, which began in 1991.

It's the second biggest seller among male solo singers, behind only Garth Brooks' "Ropin' the Wind," which has shifted 9.6 million.

Billboard estimates the merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan's Building Chart -- Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target, Anderson Merchandisers, and Handleman Co. -- comprise about 80% of all U.S. album sales.

Evil Harry Potter Smites God-Fearing Librarian

When you think "Harry Potter," you think of an evil, Occultist, pagan, heathen devil, don't you?

Well, in this lawsuit, a Missouri librarian refused to push the Potter books on kids because she was afraid that The Boss -- the Almighty One -- would bring his fury on her and cast her out if she did. Unfortunately, she ended up incurring the wrath of the boss -- the one who pays her rent -- and got herself canned as a result.

So now Deborah Smith has invoked the help of the highly secular ACLU, which is helping her sue the Poplar Bluff Library for money. You know, the earthly kind. Amen.

Yes this post is an excuse to post all our Potter icons.

Disaster At The Sex And The City Premiere?

No question, the Sex And The City movie premiere at Radio City Music Hall is going swimmingly for some people. Fameball Julia Allison and her buddies Mary Rambin and Megan Asha, for example, got inside the hall and snapped photos like the one at left of cast member Sarah Jessica Parker (from Rambin) and now appear to be happily seated next to actress Ashley Olsen. Vogue editor Anna Wintour is present and accounted for. But a line of ticketholders stretching for an entire city block was turned away, according to a disgruntled email tipster, who wrote: "There was a near riot of Louboutin clicking girls to the security windows in the front... Some were in near tears waving their tickets and yelling into their cells." Hopefully the lady from Singapore who bought a fake ticket for $19,000, but then got a free authentic one, wasn't among the crowd, because this would push her over the edge. I told you this was going to get ugly. Full email report after the jump.
So my friend and I had tickets to the SATC premiere tonight. We left work early and booked it over there. When we got there, there was a line spanning from 50th and 6th to 50th and 5th around to 51st between 5th and 6th. We realized there probably wasn't much of a chance everyone would fit but it was Radio City sooo lots of seats. Some photographers took pics of the line and once that was done they told EVERYONE to go home. Not one ticket holder entered the theater. There were probably a couple of thousand people all decked out having travels from who knows where to get there holding their tickets and told to leave. There was a near riot of Louboutin clicking girls to the security windows in the front. I had gotten the tickets recently so I wasn't as emotionally invested but I thought it was really wrong. Some were in near tears waving their tickets and yelling into their cells. There were some people who had been there for hours and had missed work. They told us later that they didn't open the mezzanine so basically the tickets were for show. Just mean - all for a PR shots...

Michael Lohan is not impressed.

By Courtney Hazlett
The Scoop
updated 11:09 p.m. ET, Mon., May. 26, 2008

Lindsay Lohan might have excused herself from all promotion related to “Living Lohan,” the reality series that follows little sister Ali and mom Dina, but that doesn’t mean that dad Michael is content to quietly stand back and watch his ex-wife and youngest daughter navigate their way up (or down) the ladder of celebrity.

Michael Lohan has agreed to share his reactions to each installment of the series with a blog on OK! magazine’s Web site.

Regarding the premiere episode, titled “Mommy Will Fix It,” which aired on Memorial Day, Michael appears to take the high road and edit himself more than he has in the past. “If I were to look at things from a worldly perspective, I would probably have a lot to say about exploitation, hypocrisy and even deception,” he told the magazine.
Story continues below ↓advertisement

Don’t expect his discipline to last, however. Michael went on to say that future episodes, which he said he’s screened, might be cause for speaking out. “I will say that some of the people Dina surrounds the kids with still concerns me again, I can address that when they appear on the show. I just hope Dina takes the high road like a Lohan would and rights these wrongs.”

A source close to the Lohan family suspects that Michael won’t have much longer to speak his mind because he and Dina are due to face off in court again the first week of June. “It’s going to get ugly,” said the source. “Things are going to get nastier before they get better, and there’s sure to be a gag order in place.”

Joe Jonas, Next Big Hollywood Movie Star?

Joe Jonas hopes that his 'impressive' performance in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock will lead to future film roles. Joe spilled to J-14, 'I would love to continue acting in more movies. I think music will always been my number one priority because it' was feel right. But, I'm sure you'll see us [My brothers and I] doing both movies and music.'

His on screen love interest Demi Lovato gushed, 'I was really impressed with the Jonas Brothers, especially Joe. He carried a more intense role, and there were more emotional scenes, whereas Nick and Kevin were just funny the entire movie.'

Talented singer and costar Anna Maria Perez de Tagle chimed in, 'Joe really carries a lot of the movie. Shane Gray is such a crazy character to play because he's super star with a jerky side, and Joe is totally not like that at all. And for him to
pull that off is pretty good.'

On screen 'mean girl' Meaghan Jette Martin dished, 'Joe was phenomenal. His character is complete opposite of how he is in real life. Kevin's character is a total ditz, it's hilarious because Kevin is not like that at all. And Nick really shows leadership in his character.'

michael ausiello quits tv guide for ew

The great philosopher Sheryl Crow once said sang, "A change will do you good." And I sure hope she knew what she was talking about, because I'm standing on the precipice of a doozy.

After eight fraktastic years with TV Guide — the best of my career — I've made the toughest decision of my life: To move on to new challenges at Entertainment Weekly. No tears, please. (I'm sure Elisabeth Rohm has shed enough for all of us.) and TV Guide magazine will be fine without me. Great, in fact. I'm leaving behind so many voracious scoophounds that you may not even realize I'm gone. (Plus, the office's monthly diet Snapple bill is sure to go down substantially.)

Before I go, though, I wanted to express my unsmurfing gratitude to you guys, for the hundred million things you've been moved to ask Ausiello. It's because of you and our shared obsession with the tube that I am lucky enough to do for a living what you can only wish you got to I love the most. Sincerely — thanks for the memories, Ausholes, and here's to many more.

Heath Ledger's Scholarship Fund will aid Aussie actors

Australians in Film, the L.A.-based organization for ex-pat Australians in the entertainment industry, has established the Heath Ledger Scholarship Fund, to be given annually to a young Australian-based actor to help them pursue a career in Hollywood.

The scholarship fund in Ledger's name (he was an AIF ambassador before his death in January) has the full support of Ledger's family. Gregor Jordan, a longtime friend of Heath's who directed the young actor in "Ned Kelly" and "Two Hands," will read statements of support from Heath's family at AIF's 4th annual Breakthrough Awards on June 5.

The Breakthrough Awards will be held at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Mira Wasikowska (HBO's "In Treatment") and Abbie Cornish ("Stop Loss"), who starred with Ledger in "Candy" (2006), will receive the awards, Golden Boomerangs, (lols), that night.

Ironically, long before AIF was founded, Susie Dobson, AIF president, met Heath Ledger at the Avalon during an Instyle party in 2000.

"Someone told me that there was a young and very, very shy Australian actor sitting on a couch by himself, and they suggested I go over and talk to him and try to make him feel at home," Dobson recalls. "It was Heath Ledger, and he was here to promote his first big U.S. film, 'The Patriot,' with Mel Gibson. He was wearing jeans and a T-shirt and was incredibly sweet, shy and soft-spoken."

Heath was already broken completely through and had become a major movie star by the time the Breakthrough Awards began. But he would definitely have approved of the scholarship and the awards which will be given out on June 5.

“We're so pleased to recognize the efforts and talents of Australia’s newest faces who are already proving they are on their way to join the ranks of the high-profile Australian talent working in Hollywood,” comments Dobson. “We are also thrilled that, through Heath's scholarship, we will be able to assist burgeoning Australian talent launch their careers in the U.S. to become potential future recipients of a Breakthrough Award.”

South Africa's new Charlize Theron?

The model scout who discovered Charlize Theron has found another young South African who he says could rise to fame like the Benoni bombshell.

Jaid Botha, 19, of Heidelberg, could find herself modelling for international cosmetic giant Revlon after being snapped up by the famed Parisian modelling agency, Mademoiselle.

Botha has just returned from her first spell of photographic modelling in Korea and Japan.

The aspirant model told The Times : “I’m not sure if I want to move from modelling into acting, like Charlize, but time will tell.”

The man who is orchestrating her rise to fame is Gianfranco Iobbi, who found Theron in Benoni in 1991.
