Sensational ploys like this only serve to fuel longtime complaints that the Grammys focus too much on fluff and ratings. Seven-time award-winner Alanis Morissette says the whole premise of the Grammys has always felt wrong to her.

"I always had a conflicted relationship with it," she says.

"On one hand, I wanted to stand up there and receive recognition as gratefully and graciously as possible, and on the other hand, I felt conflicted. I've just never believed in competition with art. It's like saying, 'Orange deserves the award this year and green and blue and pink don't."

"My fantasy would be if all awards shows went away. That would be the best."

Oh Stephanie.

Don’t expect Jodie Sweetin to go off the deep end when it comes to naming her baby girl, due this summer.
"We’re not naming her after any fruits or electronic devices or anything like that. She’s going to have a fairly normal name," the actress – best known for her role as Stephanie Tanner on Full House Sweetin and her husband, set designer Cody Herpin, 30, have not decided on a baby name yet. "We want something different, something cute and girly, but not too girly – a little funky," she said.
Says Sweetin of her first pregnancy, "I'm ready to go!"
"It’s a scary thing but I’m kind of scared of how much bigger I’m going to get!" she told Us at the Nicole Khristine Jewelry party at Social in Hollywood on Thursday.
The 26-year-old says Herpin is a very supportive husband: "He goes and gets me all my little cravings like my frozen chicken pot pies and he cooks dinner for me and cleans up the house because I’m exhausted all the time. I’m like, 'I need a nap!' He’s really good about that."
Sweetin, a former meth addict, hopes to impart the lessons she's learned on her new daughter.
"I had to learn to just be comfortable in my own skin," she told Us. So I hope she’ll learn that a little bit sooner.
"To just be yourself – that was probably the hardest thing for me that I didn’t learn until I was in my early twenties."

Lance Bass thinks pal Justin Timberlake should help Britney Spears through her current struggle.

"Justin could really help," Bass told Usmagazine.com.

Bass thinks his former 'NSYNC bandmate – who dated Spears for four years ending in 2002 – should join an extended support system to aid Spears, currently dealing with severe bipolar disorder and a legal fight with her parents after a week in the psych ward of the UCLA Medical Center.

"I hope that she gets good people back in her life," he told Us. "It would be nice to see those old and familiar faces from back in the day back in her life."

"Hopefully this is as low as it will go," he added. "She will definitely get the help that she needs."

Spears was released from the UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday after being involuntarily committed to treatment for bipolar disorder on January 31. She had been expected to remain hospitalized for another 10 days.

LC banks 25 grand an episode

Lauren 'LC' Conrad earns an estimated $10,000 to $25,000 per episode.

That's the industry range for top reality stars such as Conrad, Audrina 'Chicklet' Partridge, and new-nosed Heidi Montag. Casting agent Shawn Mitchell via Eonline reveals:

"Most reality shows, like Big Brother, will guarantee participants..
..at least 50 grand per season."

There is even more money to be made, if they utilize their newly found connections. LC has, and landed a fashion line and an endorsement deal with Mark cosmetics. Mitchell says:

"There is so much aftermarket money. It's not unusual for these people to double, triple, quadruple their money through endorsements."

Now it all makes sense how Heidi could afford that new face and chest.

Zac Efron's romance embarrassment

Zac Efron hates filming love scenes because they aren't "romantic".

The 'High School Musical' heartthrob is no stranger to puckering up on the silver screen, but insists the clinches are rarely as sexy as they appear in movies.

He said: "Screen kisses are definitely not as romantic as they look. It looks like a perfect situation but what the audience don't realise is that just off camera is a bunch of stinky, smelly, crew guys holding up lights and yelling, 'Action!' "

Although he is not keen on celluloid smooching, Zac, 20, also said he still remembers his very first kiss when he was 10 years old.

He told Top of the Pops magazine: "My first real kiss was when I was in fifth grade and it was in a tree house. It was the first time I was in a romantic situation and there were all these candles lit and everything. I was very young, but I remember having butterflies and everything."

Cheryl Cole jets off with bandmates

Cheryl Cole has jetted off for a holiday with two of her Girls Aloud bandmates, as she agonises over the future of her relationship with cheating husband Ashley.

The pop singer has told friends that she will make her final decision while away in Thailand with Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh.

Cole has been left distraught by claims that Ashley betrayed her by sleeping with glamour model Brooke Healy in 2006 and single mum Aimee Walton in 2007.

"She has been through the most gut-wrenching time and she needed a break," a friend told The Mirror. "She had to get away from the twin influences of Ashley and her family. Ashley has been phoning her constantly but she hasn't been taking his calls.

"Her family are also putting her under pressure of a different kind. They feel that she should just dump him and move on. But the girls in the band have been non-judgmental, which is exactly what Cheryl needs right now. They have all told her they have her unwavering support whatever she decides.

"She still hasn't decided what she is going to do. It's the biggest decision of her life."

William Shatner has never watched Star Trek and denies he almost died

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Canadian-born "Star Trek" star William Shatner said he "never watched" his own iconic sci-fi series, nor the several big-screen incarnations it spawned.

Shatner, 76, now headlines the TV series "Boston Legal." For the record, he said he hasn't seen that one either.

The Telegraph quoted the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor as saying in an interview for his Internet video blog, "I never watched Star Trek."

"I have not even seen any of the 'Star Trek' movies," he said. "I don't watch myself. When I direct and have to look at filmed scenes of myself, I suck."

Shatner also said he didn't keep any souvenirs from the "Star Trek" productions.

"I've kept nothing. Given the choice at the time of having a 'Star Trek' shirt or a designer suit, I'd have taken a suit. I should have known better," he said.
William Shatner denies reports he nearly died

Movie legend William Shatner has denied recent reports he nearly died whilst undergoing routine hip replacement surgery at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last month.

“I’m in absolute perfect health,” Shatner, 76, said in a posting on his official website Monday. “I’ve never felt better in my life.

“Somebody made up an absolutely foolish story.”

The National Enquirer made the clams of the ‘Star Trek’ actor’s ill health earlier this week, a report we also ran.

The tabloid quoted a source as saying: “The hip replacement surgery went fine. But William’s heart started beating erratically. For a few seconds, it looked like he might die on the table.

“Until now he’s had no real medical problems. But he’s overweight and out of shape, so hearing he had a heart problem scared the hell out of him.”

Paris Hilton Holds New Shoes, Pets, and Children

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

They’re the guilty pleasure of women everywhere - shoes! And as of yesterday, ladies all over the country can pick up a pair designed by Paris Hilton.

The “Simple Life” cutie showed up at Macy’s department store at South Coast Plaza yesterday to promote her Paris Hilton Footwear Collection.

She greeted the crowd, “Hey everybody, it’s good to be back at Macy’s.” And from the hundreds of people clamoring to get a pair of Paris’ new shoes, it would appear the feeling was mutual.

Hilton, who has the final say on which of her shoe designs actually make it to the shelves, said that despite her thousands of shoes, the ones from the Paris Hilton Footwear Collection are her favorite.

“I have shoes from, like, every top designer, but I love that my shoes are not, like, $800, like most of my shoes, and they are much more comfortable.”

Miley wore a red and gold sequined halter dress, along with some peep toe heels and the biggest smile we’ve ever seen.

The Writers Guild of America has reached a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

WGA West president Patric Verrone and WGA East president Michael Winship sent out an email to members at 3 a.m. Saturday alerting writers that a deal has been made that “protects a future in which the Internet becomes the primary means of both content creation and delivery.”

note: it's a 3 year deal that still needs to be voted on by the WGA membership later today.

Collapse )

From United Hollywood:

Generally, how is the deal?

Patric Verrone, Michael Winship, David Young, and John Bowman are all recommending the deal. They think it’s a good one – not perfect – but a good solid deal that we would never have gotten if we hadn’t have gone out on strike. They believe we got every last penny on the table. Like in any negotiation, neither side is 100% satisfied. But, on our side there are good gains, and notable gains in the area of New Media.

Okay, so what's going to happen at the Saturday meeting?

Well, if the document is signed and delivered – as it should be – the Negotiating Team will go over the document point by point. They will then outline what the steps moving forward might be:

1. If a majority of the assembly seems happy with the Terms of Agreement, and will likely ratify it – the greater board will take this into consideration when they meet on Sunday. Then, on Sunday they will vote on whether or not to lift the strike, and send everyone back to work on Monday. They will only vote to lift it if they feel that the majority of membership likes the deal and will ratify it. If that's the case – we go back to work on Monday. Meanwhile the traditional 10 day ratification process takes place: everyone receives ballots, sends in their vote, their vote is counted...

2. If at the assembly the feedback from the membership is that they are not happy with the deal and will likely not ratify it, then the board takes that into consideration when they vote on Sunday. If they vote not to lift the strike, we then stay out 10 more days as we ratify the vote. Keep in mind staying out 10 more days would hurt the rest of TV season, the Oscars, next year's pilot season, and the 2009 feature slate. This not only hurts the companies, it also hurts us, and the whole town.

3. If the board does not lift the strike, and we vote the deal down after the 10 day ratification process. Then, the Negotiating Team goes back to the drawing table, and begins negotiating again. This time around though, we’re likely to be out until SAG negotiates in June. An old timer mentioned that that’s the course the membership took in ’88, and they were out for 3 more months and got no notable gains. Our leverage right now is the rest of TV season, the Oscars, pilot season, and the 2009 feature slate - once we pass the point of no return on those we've lost leverage for a good while.

4. The 48 hour ratification process. If on Sunday the board votes not to lift the strike, then they could enact this process. However, this means robocalling, emailing, phoning, and getting in instant contact with every member to let them know that there will be a vote in the next 48 hours. This is called the notification period – not impossible… but not the best option because many numbers and email addresses for members are outdated – and the guild would want an accurate vote of all membership – not just the ones who update their contact information. The 10 day period gives more time for mailed ballots to find their owners. However, if the board decides to go with the 48 hour ratification process, and the majority of membership vote to ratify the terms, then we would likely be back at work on Wednesday.

I hope I’ve answered more questions than I’ve raised. I would suggest coming to the meeting tomorrow with an open mind. I would also highly suggest coming to the meeting tomorrow. It will not only ensure that you have all the information, and that your voice will be heard when the board measures their decision on Sunday, it will also ensure that the board gets a representative idea of where we stand as a membership.

When and where is the meeting again?

Saturday February 9
New York: 2pm. Broadway Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Times Square, 1606 Broadway (Broadway and 49th Street)
Los Angeles: 7pm. Shrine Auditorium, 649 W Jefferson Blvd 90007.

Jolie Refuses To Answer Pregnancy Questions

Angelina Jolie scolded a TV reporter during a United Nations trip to Iraq after the journalist quizzed the star about her rumored pregnancy.

The actress is currently touring the Middle East in her role as a volunteer for the UN's High Commission for Refugees.

At the end of an interview with CNN on the plight of Iraqi refugees, the plucky reporter asked whether Jolie is expecting another baby with partner Brad Pitt.

Before Arwa Damon could finish her question, Jolie replied, "Oh don't. Stop it. Stay true to your tradition. You're CNN. Don't do it."

Source, transcript of interview

tentative deal reached in writers strike

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Hollywood writers got their first look Saturday at details of a tentative agreement with studios that could put the strike-crippled entertainment industry back to work.

Writers Guild of America members picket in front of NBC studios in Burbank, California, on Friday.

A summary of the proposed deal was posted on the Writers Guild of America's Web site hours before members were to attend meetings on the East and West Coasts to voice their opinions.

The writers planned to gather behind closed doors Saturday afternoon in New York and later in Los Angeles to consider the deal that guild leaders said "protects a future in which the Internet becomes the primary means of both content creation and delivery."

Compensation for projects delivered via digital media was the central issue in the 3-month-old walkout, which idled thousands of workers, disrupted the TV season and moviemaking and took the shine off Hollywood's awards season.

If members of the Writers Guild of America react favorably to the proposed deal, the guild's board could vote Sunday to lift the strike order and the industry could be up and running Monday. This month's Oscars ceremony, which has been under the cloud of a union and actors boycott, also would be a winner. Video Watch Showbiz Tonight's Brooke Anderson's report on the tentative deal »

Sunday's Grammy Awards ceremony has a picket-free pass from the union.

An outline of the three-year deal was reached in recent talks between media executives and the guild, with lawyers then drafting the contract language that was concluded Friday.

According to the guild's summary, the deal provides union jurisdiction over projects created for the Internet based on certain guidelines, sets compensation for streamed, ad-supported programs and increases residuals for downloaded movies and TV programs.

The writers deal is similar to one reached last month by the Directors Guild of America, including a provision that compensation for ad-supported streaming doesn't kick in until after a window of between 17 to 24 days deemed "promotional" by the studios.

Writers would get a maximum $1,200 flat fee for streamed programs in the deal's first two years and then get a percentage of a distributor's gross in year three -- the last point an improvement on the directors deal, which remains at the flat payment rate.

"Much has been achieved, and while this agreement is neither perfect nor perhaps all that we deserve for the countless hours of hard work and sacrifice, our strike has been a success," guild leaders Patric Verrone and Michael Winship said in an e-mailed message to members.
Don't Miss

* Hopeful signs of end to writers strike
* Ratings tumble as strike hits home
* SAG Awards offer glamour in dry season

Verrone is president of the Writers Guild of America, West, while Winship heads the smaller Writers Guild of America, East, which together represent 12,000 members. About 10,000 have been affected by the strike.

The guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents studios, have not publicly commented on the proposed contract because of a joint media blackout.

One observer said the guild gained ground in the deal but not as much as it wanted.

"It's a mixed deal but far better than the writers would have been able to get three months ago. The strike was a qualified success," said Jonathan Handel, an entertainment attorney with the TroyGould firm and a former associate counsel for the writers guild.

The walkout "paved the way for the directors to get a better deal than they would otherwise have gotten. That in turn became the foundation for further improvements the writers achieved," Handel said.

A quick end to the walkout might result in TV viewers seeing a more new episodes of their favorite shows this season. A script takes about three weeks to write and about 40 working days to produce, so it could take as long as two months for the first new shows to air, Leight said.

But once a production has scripts and is up and running, episodes are worked on concurrently and an hour-long show can be produced within eight days, he said.

That could allow an hourlong drama to return with perhaps a half-dozen new episodes, and a half-hour comedy to squeeze in as many as seven new shows for the rest of the season.

Networks, however, are likely to pick and choose among shows, with low-rated newcomers less likely to get deals for more episodes than a series like "Grey's Anatomy," which has a big, faithful audience.

All is full of love.

Hey Boo! Version Two!

Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't Cancel!

The Official Motto of the Dillon Panthers Booster Club is Keep The Lights On, and what better way to get that point across to NBC than by taking a moment to send them a light bulb as a reminder that it’s a “good idea” to keep great shows on their network. NBC-Universal is owned by General Electric anyway, so these light bulbs will also be like little bribes, putting our whole campaign in a more financial context these studio types will be able to better understand. Light bulbs are cheap, easy to come by, and if they break during shipping, the shattered glass might even seem vaguely threatening when NBC opens the package. Sort of like, “You try to take away our Panthers, and we might just cut you.” So grab a bulb, write “Lights On” on the side of it, and send it to NBC honcho Ben Silverman at:

Ben Silverman
c/o NBC Studios
3000 W. Alameda Ave.
Burbank, CA. 91523

If you feel like shelling out a bit more or you’re a stoner with lots of eye drops lying around, you could send Clear Eyes as well.

Go to the Booster Club, sign the petition, and send FNL-related tips to info@bwe.tv. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.

I also have read some things on TWoP about sending mini-footballs.

Listening Party For Mariah's New CD

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A listening party for Mariah's new album was held at Cafe Studio Harajuku in Japan. Five tracks from the album whose title was said to still be undecided, were played.

Ameblo music critic Junichi Uchimoto described the following songs:

--"Touch My Body" is similar to "We Belong Together", only a little faster and more hip hop oriented.
--"That Chick" reminded him of Ne-Yo's "Because Of You".
--"OOC" is a unique pop song.

Uchimoto also said that fans of "The Emancipation Of Mimi" would love the new album.

It was revealed that the scheduled timeline to release the album in Japan is in April. The date however is still not set and is subject to change.

Sam Raimi returns to his horror roots

Big Saturday news from Variety who are reporting that actress-of-the-moment Ellen Page, star of Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody's comedy Juno--firmly in the top 10 having grossed over $110 million--will follow that film's creative duo into her own horror movie, this one directed by none other than Sam Raimi. Drag Me To Hell will be Raimi's long-awaited return to the horror genre as a director since 1992's Army of Darkness, having spent much of the last eight years working on the "Spider-Man" trilogy.

Playing the recipient of a supernatural curse, this will be Page's second foray into horror, having starred in David Slade's psychological thriller Hard Candy, the movie that introduced most people to Page's talents as an actress.

Even though Page is also attached to headline Drew Barrymore's Whip It, Raimi's horror flick will be next for the young actress with shooting to begin on March 17 in L.A.

the article is more of an Ellen Page story but I tried to make it more of a Raimi story cuz he's more important.

Lindsay Lohan told Harper's Bazaar that she's gunning for the role of Alice in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Johnny Depp also want the role, so Lindsay has some competition. She said, "I just hope they don't want an unknown, I really want this part." Yeah, I'm really sure Tim is going to give the title role to a chick that hasn't had a hit since Herbie: Fully Loaded!

Tim talked about the movie and said, "The stories are like drugs for children, you know? It's like, 'Whoa, man.' I think it's an interesting challenge to direct." Drugs for children? Lohan knows a lot about that. She would only inject sin into this children's story. She would probably tell Tim that she wants to do the entire movie topless and thinks they should add a sex scene between Alice and the Cheshire Cat.

I think Dakota Fanning's weird ass would be perfect for this. But I guess they're going for an adult Alice.

'People' Don't Care About Timbaland's Homeboys?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

People's all-star, pre-Grammy concert with Timbaland ended with a resounding crash when the superproducer and rapper delivered a foul-mouthed tirade against the magazine because some of his friends were apparently left outside the venue.

With a blinged-out cross dangling from his neck, a sweaty Timbaland addressed the crowd at the Avalon Club just after finishing a high energy set with longtime muse Missy Elliott, capping a night of performances from acts such as Chris Cornell, Grammy-nominated band Paramore and One Republic in front of a crowd that included Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Ludacris.

"Next time I have one of my homeboys in line, let that (expletive) in!" Timbaland shouted as the event winded down after 2 a.m. Saturday, adding that he was a "peoples person."

"I don't like to see my people turned around for some (expletive) magazine ... (expletive) y'all!"

After his tirade ended, he walked off stage with music blasting. The party was effectively over.

The Dark Side of the Marc Jacobs Show and After-Party

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yesterday's punctual Marc Jacobs show was designed to feel like a night out clubbing, with banquettes in the front row, Champagne on ice, and art-rock stalwarts Sonic Youth performing live onstage. Not everyone was feeling so glamorous, though. Selma Blair gained twenty pounds on a movie shoot in Europe, and while she “desperately” wants to lose the weight, her new role as the spoiled suburbanite Kim on NBC’s remake of Australian comedy Kath & Kim requires that she keep it. Still, there's an upside. “Gaining twenty pounds makes me feel like I got a little badunkadunk. I definitely have more of a tush going in my jeans. I used to wear a size 0. I now wear a size 6.”

Marc's friend Michael Lucas, the porn star, observed his own affront to fashion beauty standards. After posing for photos with Victoria Beckham, he told us he would “commit suicide” if he had her complexion! “Her skin is yellow with big pores,” he said. “Each pore you could fit a big [piece of] caviar in.”

Marc Jacobs campaign model and singer M.I.A., meanwhile, had a less-than-glamorous experience last year when she was turned away from Jacobs's after-party. “Me and Marc are gonna talk about it tonight,” she said ominously. Why she didn’t get in? “I guess I had a terrible reputation. I just turned up on the spot.” She wouldn't give up any details on the new album she's working on, and for good reason. “I’m not saying anything this time, I’m keeping it secret. I don’t want, like, Fergie to make the record before I do,” she told us, before rushing to the after-party where, this year, she was the D.J.

At said after-party, it was Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore who was disappointed. “I didn’t get a goody bag,” he said, referring to the packages stamped with images of his band's Goo album cover. “I was really bummed. I went out looking for one afterwards and they were all gone.” We later asked Sophia Bush, whom we spotted talking to a surprisingly demure-looking Lil’ Kim, whether her hoarse voice indicated the onset of an unstylish Fashion Week flu. “My voice is gone from having to speak up all the time for interviews,” she said, adding, “and screaming like a fraternity boy for an hour when the Giants won didn’t help either.” Here's to hoping for a glitzier time next year.

Weren't you on a train to London from Paris when you heard about your Oscar nomination?

Ellen Page: Yeah, I was kind of in transit. It was crazy, we were coming from Paris when I found out, but it was extremely exciting.

Were you expecting it?

Ellen Page: No, not in my head. I do a lot of press and people talk about it constantly so, of course it's on your mind but it's not something I would ever expect. So I was delightfully surprised and excited. It's ridiculously humbling to be nominated with such incredible women.

What do you think of the performances of the ladies you're up against – such as Marion Cotillard in La Vie En Rose or Julie Christie in Away From Her?

Ellen Page: Incredible. I'm really happy for everyone. But Laura Linney didn't really get talked about for The Savages much. I love Laura Linney and I love that movie. No one's really talked about it much and the [Golden] Globes didn't recognise it. But I really respect everyone.

promo is for the UK, where it was released yesterday.

aw she's adorable, i thought the bit where she talked about how when she met Kate Winslet, she was too shy to say anything so just looked at the floor was really sweet haha

Forbes' top 10 role models 18 and under

In no particular order..

Miley Cyrus, Age 15
Singer and actress, Hannah Montana

While other teen stars are busy acting about 10 times their age, Miley Cyrus seems genuinely happy to just be 15. Rather than wearing sexy tops and boasting even sexier dance moves, she frequently dons age-appropriate bright colors as she belts out the catchy tunes of her alter-ego, Hannah Montana. The 69 dates in her Best of Both Worlds Tour may have sold out at most vendors in a matter of minutes, but she still finds time to give back: She recently visited Georgetown University Medical Center to sign autographs and pose for pictures with sick children.
I'm not even going to lie.. I love Hannah Montana.

Nick Jonas, Age 14
Musician, The Jonas Brothers

Screaming girls and packed venues are hardly the only thing on the mind of Nick Jonas, one-third of the all-brother band The Jonas Brothers. While his catchy hooks are playing over and over again on mainstream radio and television shows, Nick has something else to worry about: Type 1 diabetes. Nick pushes other kids who may be similarly diagnosed to not let the disease get them down. By acknowledging and accepting his condition publicly, Nick, who sings and plays the guitar and drums, is helping to raise awareness and a new level of support for children with diabetes.

So what do you guys think about Miley being a role model? I know some of you can't stand her, but I don't think she's that bad.

Enjoying an off day from the Spice Girls reunion tour, Geri Halliwell spent Friday evening out at celebrity-popular NYC restaurant The Waverly Inn.

Unfortunately for Ginger Spice, the straps on her sheer black gown refused to stay in place - revealing a bit more lingerie than the 35-year-old most likely intended.

Meanwhile, as far as the tour’s concerned, the Spice Girls are back in action the next two nights (Feb. 10-11) with shows lined up at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

As for the group’s decision to end their reunion run prematurely, Geri said: “The tour’s gone actually longer than we anticipated. We thought we were going to go with one gig, that’s how it started - then we planned until the end of January, and then we actually extended it.”

"Hi everyone

It was good to see England win last night and put in a positive performance against Switzerland. I am an England fan and I always want my country to win any game.

I am sure you will have read a lot of Mr. Capello’s call to leave me out of the squad but in truth I admire him as a manager and respect his decision. In his explanation, he said that it was purely down to match fitness and that it was unfair to the other players, competing week in and week out for their clubs, to include me in the squad.

A lot has been made of my trips to Sierra Leone and Brazil but these were only a total of four days in six weeks. I postponed my holidays to spend five days a week training with Arsenal and I did everything possible make myself available for England. The only thing beyond my control is the opportunity to play matches. I want to thank Arsene Wenger and his team for making me feel incredibly welcome at Arsenal and helping me to get fit for the start of the season.

I am now back in Los Angeles training with LA Galaxy. On Saturday and Sunday every player had to undergo fitness tests, and I feel good for the start of the new season. There is a real sense of excitement here with Ruud at the helm and players like Carlos and Celestine arriving. I will keep you posted on how the pre season goes.

Take care

Speculation on HBP Scenes, plus Carrow Twins casted for the Film

The Snitch have found out what scene was being shot yesterday: "A source from the set today revealed the scene being shot was Professor McGonagall telling Ron and Harry that they can take Potions for their NEWTS."
This scene involved 200 extras, ranging from First Years to Seventh Years. It sucks that they didn't keep Neville in that scene when they get sorted for their NEWT classes.

TheSnitch can also reveal that two characters are being introduced to Half Blood Prince by Warner Brothers.
The character names are Flora and Hestia Carrow and they are being played by Amber and Ruby Evans respectively.

These two actresses were present at the filming at Gloucester Cathedral but as of yet we are not sure of their role in the upcoming film. So to clarify: These two characters are not the creation of JKR, but are brand new characters for the Half-Blood Prince film. There were reports months ago about Warner Bros. creating two new characters for the film. If you recall, in Deathly Hallows: Alecto Carrow is the sister of Amycus Carrow, who are Deatheaters appointed by the new Headmaster Severus Snape to be teachers at Hogwarts. They have fun torturing the students and screwing their heads up with anti-muggle lies. Neville gets tortured by them in the book...etc. So why are Warner Bros. changing JKR's characters and putting them in Half-Blood Prince?

- According to a Call Sheet, Belltrix Lestrange will be in the Astronomy Tower scene where Dumbledore dies: "An Advanced Schedule reveals that Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) is having a costume, wig, mask and teeth fitting while Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) will be getting his hair coloured, both on Tuesday 12th February--There is a storyboard meeting for the Astonomy Tower sequence on Monday 11th February.

A brief history of celebrity hook-ups.

I was inspired to make this post after reading that some people didn't remember Kirsten Dunst dated Jake Gyllenhaal. Where have you been, kids? Anyway, I've picked some of the main culprits (see: Hollywood whores) and listed all their previous hookups below the cut. Deja vu to the max.

Seventeen Magazine reports from the set of 17 Again

Seventeen was invited to visit the set of Zac Efron's new movie, tentatively called 17 Again, last night, and we got to see the heartthrob in action. The scene was filmed at a house in Los Angeles — it was around 7 p.m. when we arrived, and Zac and his costar Michelle Trachtenberg (Ice Princess) were upstairs acting out a bedroom scene (scandalous!).

Efron revisits 'Seventeen'

While sitting among a gaggle of movie extras, I had to contain my laughter at some of the instructions given during my set visit to the shoot of "Seventeen." Girls were told to have their lip gloss on them at all times. And the boys? They better have taken care of any pesky facial hair before or, as a casting coordinator warned, "You don't want me to shave you in front of the director!"

OMZ! Guess who I got to hang out with last night? ZAC EFRON! The cutie invited me to the Santa Monica Pier to watch him film scenes from his upcoming comedy Seventeen Again, which hits theaters sometime in August. Zac looked so cute in a blue beanie, white T-shirt and skinny jeans when he came up to me. It was super windy outside so they had to cancel filming for the day, but Zac was all smiles and still sat down with me to chat about the movie.

It is making big news that Hilary Duff swore on air during a b105 interview in Australia - they are promoting the interview because of the language in it with the title "Hilary Duff says Bad Words."

You can listen to the 2-part interview here and here (it will launch a player). The second part contains the swearing.

The news is reporting the confusing issue of swearing - does Hilary condone or endorse it? They ask Hilary Duff what her favorite swear word is:

"I guess, sometimes a good fuck, like just saying fuck, makes you feel pretty good, you know?

It's such not a nice word at all. Like, really, like sometimes I'll not know somebody and they'll walk by, and they’ll be a really pretty girl, and I'll be like, 'Yuck! That’s not attractive.'

But really, nothing else makes you feels that good, like letting a good one out, you know?"

John Mayer and Alicia Keys

John Mayer to Perform Together With Alicia Keys at Grammy Awards

It's who you know: lucky fans get behind-the-scenes access to Grammy bash

LOS ANGELES - By the time the Grammys reveal their big surprises for their 50th annual celebration, it'll be old news to music fans like Michelle Mota and Tyran Odum.

The best friends were one of several hundred people in the Staples Center over the weekend getting an early glimpse at the elaborate production planned for Sunday's televised bash.

I was calling friends telling them how I'm sitting here watching Alicia Keys and John Mayer before anybody else," Odum, a 29-year-old Starbucks manager from Miami, said Friday from the arena as Keys rehearsed a special number.

"It's exciting to actually see it, it's more intimate, it's more real."

Many people in the audience were friends or relatives of the production crew or recording academy staff. Odum was one of 19 people who won a CBS draw for two tickets to the Grammy ceremony, as well as a backstage pass to catch the rehearsals in the days leading up to the show.

Paige Washington, 19, said she got in because her dad works for the San Francisco chapter of the Grammys. She liked the fact she could see unpolished celebrities "just being themselves and goofing around on stage, and just hanging out."

The usually glammed-up Keys, for instance, showed up looking relatively low-key in jeans, a white V-neck sweater and white boots. A bandana over her hair and large dark glasses obscured her features so much she was only recognizeble by her voice.

This is going to be amazing. I used to really want them to get together. Now I won't him to get together with Sara Bareilles. Apparently she wrote the best song of the past five years.

Nicole Kidman's bathing suit auctioned to buy cows

STOCKHOLM (AFP) - A swimsuit left at a Swedish pool by Australian movie star Nicole Kidman was sold on Saturday at auction to buy cows for poor families in India.

"The swimsuit went to the highest bidder for 16,200 kronor (2,500 dollars, 1,720 euros). That's enough to buy nine cows," the suit's previous owner Zlatko Nedanovski, 32, told AFP.

Last Wednesday, a day into the week-long auction, Nedanovski said he hoped to raise enough to buy five cows, or around 9,000 kronor, as part of a project run by the Swedish aid organisation Erikshjaelpen.

"This went amazingly well," he said, acknowledging however that he would miss the suit, which has been on display in a second-hand store in the southern Swedish town of Esloev for the past five years.

"I felt it was time the bathing suit was used to help others, but it will feel a bit empty without it," he said.

Kidman, a keen swimmer, forgot the suit at a pool she had reserved for her personal use in the southwestern town of Vaenersborg during a 2002 stay in Sweden to shoot Lars von Trier's "Dogville".

Pool staff found it and handed it over to a local radio station.

Nedanovski then bought the swimsuit for 5,500 kronor.

Bids for the swimsuit had come from all over the world, Nedanovski said, but it finally went to 49-year-old Bengt Olsen from Sweden's film town Trollheattan, just south of Vaenersborg.

"I think it's wonderful that the suit has been returned to Sweden's film capital," Olsen told AFP.

"And I hope the bathing suit will raise more money for more cows for more poor Indian families," he said, explaining that he planned to charge a small fee to allow people to view the suit and use the proceeds to buy more cows.

"I've also decided to give one cow each year to an Indian family, and I want to encourage everyone else to do the same," he said.

Robyn Tours the US & receives amazing reviews

If you were unable to make any of the dates of the site Dontstopthepop has made a batch of live tracks from her European dates which you can check out here.

The New York Times said

I think it’s almost on the day, 10 years ago, that I was here with my first album,” said Robyn, and there was a cheer. “But this is the first time that I have ever played live in the United States of America.” And then came an ovation so loud and so long that she seemed faintly embarrassed by it.

Her first album was “Robyn Is Here,” and it took her from her native Sweden to charts and radio stations all over the world. Two of her collaborators were the Swedish producers Denniz Pop and Max Martin, pop scientists who had already worked with Ace of Base and would go on to work with Britney Spears, among many others. Back then Robyn’s songs seemed like shiny links in a long chain of cheerful Swedish hits.

But at the Highline Ballroom on Tuesday night, she was greeted as a conquering hero. And she performed like one too. Facing an audience of rabid cult fans, she sang a short set of fierce, bittersweet songs, pausing every few minutes to accept applause and, at one point, an oversize Valentine’s Day card. It said, “See this smile on my face?” Was she blushing?

Robyn never stopped being a star in Sweden. But by 2002, when she released an R&B-inflected album called “Don’t Stop the Music,” she was getting restless. (She now calls that CD “a big compromise.”) So she reinvented herself, embracing spikier tracks and pricklier lyrics. The result was “Robyn,” a delectable electronic pop album from 2005, which includes a collaboration with the acerbic Swedish electronic duo the Knife. That album, which reached these shores mainly through the Internet, won her new American fans, including many from the worlds of indie rock and dance music. Three years later a reworked version of the album is scheduled for an American release, April 15 on Cherrytree Records, an imprint of Interscope.

And so Tuesday’s concert — a showcase for a 28-year-old pop veteran who has already conquered America once — felt like an introduction. Accompanied by two drummers and a stack of electronics, Robyn showed off her strong voice and her smart way of using it: she often keeps her vocal range small, the better to focus on rhythmic precision. During “Handle Me,” she wasn’t so much singing as riding the beat, almost smiling as she sneered, “You’re a selfish, narcissistic, psycho-freaking, bootlicking Nazi creep/And you can’t handle me.” (Advance copies of the Cherrytree version of “Robyn” censor the word “Nazi.” Are Americans really that delicate?)

Robyn’s status as a cult favorite in America reflects the slightly scrambled relationship between mainstream pop and underground music. Like Annie (who’s Norwegian) before her, Robyn has been adopted by listeners who traditionally take pride in disdaining commercial fluff. (Being foreign probably helps; from Cassie to Aly & A J, American electro-pop stars don’t seem to have the same cachet.) And she arrives in America at a time when quirky electronic tracks are firmly ensconced in the musical mainstream. For example, the recent album from Ms. Spears, “Blackout” (Jive/Zomba), included a collaboration with the Los Angeles indie-electronic duo Freescha — and, as it happens, backing vocals from Robyn herself.

Tuesday’s set included two versions of one of her best songs, “Be Mine”: the sharp new-wave album version and a piano-ballad remake that sounded downright (and pleasingly) Cyndi Lauperish. And near the end there was a sparse, staccato introduction and then a familiar couplet: “Always been told that I’ve got too much pride/Too independent to have you by my side.”

Near the back of the crowd, one fan turned to her friend. “This is a cover,” she said. And maybe she was right, or half-right. The song in question was a smartly reworked version of “Show Me Love,” a decade-old international hit by a teenage pop star who also happens to be called Robyn. Same name. Same person. Different career."

Granny Clemens’ Steroid Injects For Shingles

Now this is really getting fun sad. A source tells the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS today that “Brian McNamee told congressional investigators Thursday that he injected Roger Clemens’ wife with human growth hormone before she appeared with the pitcher in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue in 2003, according to a Washington source.

“Debbie Clemens appeared with her husband in a photograph taken in Central Park in the magazine’s Feb. 18, 2003 issue wearing a bikini and holding a bat over her shoulders while Roger Clemens reclined on the ground in his Yankee uniform. McNamee testified that he injected her at Roger Clemens’ direction, according to the source.”

Source: “She was trying to get in shape for the SI cover. He (McNamee) told them the story that Debbie took growth.”

With McNamee providing these sorts of details, it’s now clear that steroids and HGH aren’t what’s at issue anymore. It’s about a soul-crushing crusade against everything Clemens holds dear. We can hardly wait for McNamee to next reveal Granny Clemens’ steroid injections after her late ’90s bout with Shingles.
