Life & Style is reporting that actress Eva Mendes, 33-years-old, has left rehab and is now back in Los Angeles.
The actress left Utah's Cirque Lodge rehab clinic earlier today and
boarded a flight to Los Angeles just after 6pm this evening. Not too long after Kirsten Dunst allegedly check-into the facilities.
Mendes arrived at LAX shortly after 9pm PST
after spending a number of weeks in rehab.
At the time her spokesman said: "Eva has been working hard for the
past year and made a positive decision to take some much needed time
off to attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she
felt deserved some outside professional support."

Czech supermodel Karolína Isela Kurková will be bringing Courtney A. Kreiger, better known as Cover Girl, to the big screen in Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe. The film is based on the "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" toy line of the 1980s.
Prior to joining G.I. Joe as a tank jockey, Illinois-bred Cover Girl was a highly successful fashion model who graced the covers of countless magazines. Failing to find fulfillment in the fashion world, she joined the army to seek out new challenges and prove she was more than just a pretty face.
Kurková joins David Murray (Destro), Dennis Quaid (Hawk), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan), Channing Tatum (Duke), Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Rex), and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow) in the movie, set to be released August 7, 2009.

Not letting their parenting duties rob them of their alone time, the “Simple Life” hottie and her “Good Charlotte” rocker beau took some quality time to themselves on a stroll out on the streets of Hollywood yesterday.
Letting her long blonde locks down, Nicole looked cute and casual in a striped shirt with a leather jacket and some comfy jeans, while Joel rocked a fedora, track jacket and dark trousers.
Speaking of Joel, it sounds like he may have a chance at an acting gig coming up soon. Rumor has it Juno writer Diablo Cody thinks he may be right for a part in a new flick.

New York Giants Super Bowl XLII gear is flying off shelves, but what happens to the losing New England Patriots' merchandise?
Shirts, sweatshirts and hats, all printed with the Patriots as the Super Bowl winners, arrived at the World Vision warehouse in Sewickley on Tuesday.
Many of the shirts say "19-0" -- a reference to the Pats' quest for a perfect record. Instead, the Giants' victory ended the AFC champions' season at 18-1.
The losers' gear will be packed and sent to third-world countries by World Vision, which works to improve the lives of poor children in more than 100 countries.
Misprinted merchandise for the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers, who lost to the Giants and the Patriots in the NFC and AFC championship games, will also be sent to other countries.

The latest rumors on the post-strike return of "Heroes," "Ugly Betty," "Gossip Girl," "How I Met Your Mother," "24," "Samantha Who" and other shows.
HEROES: NBC's sci-fi drama from the producer Tim Kring was originally planning to open a new arc titled "Villains" in early 2008. Since the studio would probably not be able to film more than 3 new episodes this season, NBC is expected to delay the return of the drama till September, when season 3 launches. Next season may however contain more than the standard 22-23 episodes.
GOSSIP GIRL: The CW's teen drama based on the series of bestselling books is expected to return in late April with the remaining 9 episodes. Under that scenario, the struggling network would extend its official TV season into the summer. "Gossip Girl" was the first freshman drama to receive a full-season pickup last October, and would possibly be the only hour-long drama to film a full season of 22 episodes.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell says the fashion industry is more racist than ever.
Campbell hit out at the lack of black faces on magazine covers and catwalks.
She told The London Paper: "Women of colour are not a trend. That's the bottom line. It's a pity that people don't always appreciate black beauty. In some instances, black models are being sidelined by major modelling agencies."
She continued: "Fashion needs to go back to the way it used to be when wonderful designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Gianni Versace and Azzedine Alaia just had a great line-up of beautiful women - white, black, Chinese, Hispanic."
Campbell, 37, admitted that her supermodel pals helped her career by taking a stand against racism.
"Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington would go to big designers and say, 'If you don't pick Naomi to be in your show, then I don't want to be in it'," she recalled.
"The only reason I got the cover of French Vogue was because Yves Saint Laurent called up and told them he'd pull his ads if they didn't."
The Streatham-born star spoke out after her former boss admitted racism was still rife in the industry.
Carole White, head of the Premier model agency and who represented Campbell for 17 years, said: "A black girl has to be perfect to get work. The bookers are told, 'Don't send any ethnic girls'.
"I showed a picture of a new black girl to an agent in Milan, and he actually recoiled. He said, 'We don't have black girls in Milan. It's impossible.'"

Claire plays vigilante cop Rebecca Ryan, who goes a revenge rampage to find the killers of her daughter Lynn.
In one scene, Sarah looks quite the femme fatale as she smokes while dressed in a white macintosh in the back of a car.

Words from 'The New Pollution' and 'Devil's Haircut' were 'scratch' vocals
Beck has revealed that lyrics from some of his most famous tracks were nonsense.
The star admits that many songs - including 'The New Pollution' and 'Devil's Haircut' - featured "scratch" vocals – lines the star recorded during initial recordings of the songs to fill in blanks, that theoretically should have been replaced later on.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the singer explained that most of the vocal parts on his 1996 album 'Odelay' were ad-libbed.
“Most of the vocals on the record were scratch vocals,” he said. “We just grew attached to them.”
The lyrics Beck referred to include the lines, "Heads are hanging from the garbage man trees/Mouthwash jukebox gasoline" from 'Devil's Haircut', and, “She’s got cigarette on each arm/She’s got the lily-white cavity crazes/She’s got a carburettor tied to the moon/Pink eyes looking to the food of the ages" from 'The New Pollution' .
CHRISTINA AGUILERA sits down with our JANN CARL for her very first television interview since having her baby boy MAX less than four weeks ago.
"I'm enjoying him every second," she says of her son. "I can't stop staring at him, studying him. You can't believe you created this. Me and my husband couldn't be happier."
The Grammy-winning singer says having a baby doesn't compare to anything she's done before.
"You think you've accomplished all these amazing things until you have your first born or even your second born and it's like, 'You can't believe what you've done, what you're capable of doing,'" she says. "I have to say throughout the pregnancy I was never more appreciative of what the female body is capable of doing until the whole thing happens and you're like, 'Oh my God I did this.'"
Christina, who's all-new concert DVD 'Back to Basics: Live and Down Under' is in stores now, says there are many places she wants to take her career but knows it will now involve a creative balance.
"'How am I going to balance my love for creativity and performing with the ultimate of importance in my life -- my child?'" is something she says she's definitely asked herself. "[But] it can be done -- there are many mothers who are able to do it and do it well."

What the hell IS going on with Brit's hair in this picture?
RADAR:What is this? Why did it happen?
ALLISON: Oh, no.
SETH: Oh my goodness.
ALLISON: She did the top with a single process, then this is bleached, then she's trying to let her natural grow out in there. She has so much going on, there's so many factors. Wow. The bleach is breaking her hair, and she's sewing in tracks.
SETH: This is an example of her saying, I'm going out tonight, I want extensions and I want tracks. She wants that thickness, but of course it's not working.
RADAR: Would she have been better off with a wig?
SETH: Oh, yeah.
ALLISON: Should have been a wig from day one. Like a beautiful, gorgeous $10,000 lace-front wig.
RADAR: What's a lace-front wig?
SETH: Imagine a bathing cap with hair sewn onto it, put onto all of your own hair, and then integrated around all the borders to finish it, with the front of your hairline integrated. Britney can afford this.
ALLISON: They can be beautiful.
SETH: For instance, Nicole Kidman. She's got a head of hair, but the hairline isn't perfect, so for a lot of her movies she gets full lace-front wigs.

Rosie gives up alcohol
Rosie O'Donnell is on the wagon, she says on her blog.
The former View host made the alcohol-abstinence revelation after telling one fan she'd shed pounds by giving up beer.
That prompted another to ask, "So, Rosie, alcoholic or not? Just spit it out! Don't go all Star Jones on us here. What led to you stopping the beer?"
O'Donnell posted back: "'Cause I was drinking too much, 'cause I didn't want to any more, 'cause it is hard to lose weight when drinking, 'cause I can never have only one."
Swearing off the sauce is "not easy," she added, "but I feel better."

From Variety: Alan Arkin, Monica Bellucci, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Keanu Reeves have joined the already starry cast of Rebecca Miller’s “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.”
Pic, which is produced by Elevation Filmworks and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, already features Julianne Moore and Winona Ryder. Robin Wright Penn stars as a dutiful wife whose husband falls for a younger woman, freeing her to explore her buried sensuality and leading to “a very quiet nervous breakdown.”
Miller (”The Ballad of Jack and Rose”) directs from her own novel of the same title. Lensing is skedded to begin in April 2008 in Connecticut.
Samantha Horley’s London-based Lumina Films is executive producing the pic and handling worldwide sales, with CAA partnering on the sale of North American distribution rights. Jean-Luc De Fanti and Winchester Capital Partners provide finance and take exec producing credits.
Pic is the fourth collaboration between Lemore Syvan of Elevation and Miller, following “Jack and Rose,” “Personal Velocity” and “Angela.”
After all, the last U.K. band formed via a reality show, Hear’Say, had gone spectacularly to pieces, with public backlash and rapid disintegration within 18 months. The twist to Popstars: The Rivals was that it put together not one but two bands: Girls Aloud, and a boy band called One True Voice, who were then expected to battle it out for that year’s U.K. Christmas No. 1. Public money was on One True Voice: After all, teenage girls always have room on their walls for another boy band, whereas everyone in the U.K. knew that there hadn’t been a successful five-piece girl band since ... well, since the Spice Girls.
In the end, One True Voice came up with an awful piece of drivel called “Sacred Trust” for their first single, and Girls Aloud beat them to No. 1 with their first release, “Sound of the Underground.” Since then, the Aloud have been more successful than anyone would have predicted, achieving 17 consecutive top ten singles, three of which reached No. 1. Although not a global phenomenon like the Spice Girls, they’ve held on to success steadily for five years, without any major upsets like the loss of a band member.
Image-wise, the girls project a slightly different, more aloof and grownup vibe than the Spice Girls do, and they also play to a different demographic: less to kids, more to men’s-magazine-reading guys (alas). However, to introduce you to each band member individually, and to amuse myself, I thought I’d try pairing each Aloud Girl with her equivalent Spice Girl:

LONDON - Amy Winehouse will not be performing at this year’s Grammy Awards because her request for a visa has been turned down by the U.S. Embassy, her publicist said Thursday.
“Amy has been progressing well since entering a rehabilitation clinic two weeks ago and although disappointed with the decision has accepted the ruling and will be concentrating on her recovery,” The Outside Organization, which counts the troubled retro-soul sensation among its clients, said in a statement.
Winehouse shot to fame with the autobiographical single “Rehab.”
The 24-year-old singer and her acclaimed “Back to Black” album are nominated in six categories for at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Her potent blend of blues, jazz, pop and soul has won praise from critics and fans, but Winehouse has become as famous for her chaotic personal life as for her music.
Since the album’s U.S. release last year, she has canceled a slew of appearances amid reports of drug use.
Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is in jail awaiting trial on charges of assault and lying to police.

Will Arnett has been replaced as the voice of KITT in NBC's soon-to-premiere Knight Rider TV-movie/backdoor pilot. According to Variety, though Arnett had already recorded what I am sure was some deliciously dry dialogue, it came to light that because the Arrested Development alum has done voice-over work for General Motors — and KITT is "played" by a Ford Mustang — he'd have to graciously bow out.
Val Kilmer instead will lend his pipes to the shape-shifting upgraded supercar.
How did NBC not know about those commercials until now? I remember them. And they're replacing him with Val Kilmer?! HIs voice is not what I'd call memorable. Get Mr. Feeny back instead at least. I don't think he's too busy these days.
Now this is truly the best of both worlds. Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige have announced a 25-date North American co-headlining tour that will kick off on March 22 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
The tour, which will be called "Mary J. Blige & Jay-Z: Heart of the City," was touted in a press release as "the first time in more than 15 years that African American male/female [artists] of this stature have co-headlined a national concert tour," apparently referring to an Luther Vandross/ Anita Baker tour some years back. It will hit Boston, Philadelphia and Baltimore before swinging through New Orleans, Houston, Las Vegas and Oakland, California. The first batch of dates announced will end on April 16 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, but more dates are scheduled to be announced soon. Tickets for the first shows will go on sale on February 15.
The outing will unite the longtime friends and collaborators onstage and will be first time Jay has toured extensively in support of his 2006 comeback album, Kingdom Come, and its follow-up, last year's American Gangster.
"The [songs] we're playing are the soundtracks to people's lives," Jay-Z said in a statement, according to USA Today. "We've poured our hearts out many a night in the studio and look forward to going one step further onstage."
The current Heart of the City tour dates, according to the press release:
· 3/22 - Miami, FL @ American Airlines Arena
· 3/26 - Baltimore, MD @ 1st Mariner Arena
· 3/27 - Uniondale, NY @ Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
· 3/28 - East Rutherford, NJ @ Izod Center
· 3/30 - Philadelphia, PA @ Wachovia Center
· 4/2 - Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre
· 4/3 - Boston, MA @ TD Banknorth Garden
· 4/5 - Greensboro, NC @ Greensboro Coliseum
· 4/6 - Washington, DC @ Verizon Center
· 4/16 - Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Bowl

HUGS FOR HURLEY: AN INTERVIEW WITH JORGE GARCIA
Last week I expressed my big-time fondness for Hurley's story and Garcia's work in the season premiere, so I thought it would be nice to actually tell him that, plus ask him some questions, too. We chatted by phone earlier this week as word began to leak that the writers' strike may soon be over. That's good news indeed for Garcia: ''I've just been hanging out in Hawaii. It was good the first couple weeks, but boredom has begun to set in.''
DOC JENSEN: What did you think when you got the season premiere and it was all about Hurley?
JORGE GARCIA: A little pressure. A lot of times, after a lengthy hiatus, you want to get into the swing of things a bit before you get your episode. But I was really excited, too. It was a different direction for a season premiere, and I felt the fans would probably dig it.
Viva Las Rayas Blancas! Viva rock'n'roll! Say hello to "Conquista", the latest single from Las Rayas Blancas, better known to us English-speaking sorts as the White Stripes.
Wait a second. Didn't the Stripes have a single with an awfully similar name not too long ago? Well, yep. But this is different: "Conquista" features Jack crooning the Patti Page classic en español, a muy bien idea if you ask me. The single, in both CD and vinyl form, hits the States February 19 from Third Man/Warner Brothers, though you may have a bit of a time finding it in the usual spots, as the disc will indeed be credited to Las Rayas Blancas. Record store employees of the world, shelf this one responsibly.
The two-track single contains "Conquista" backed by "Conquest (Versión Acústica De Mariachi)", which we're pretty sure means it's acoustic and features a mariachi band.
A Spanish language version of the totally awesome Diane Martel-directed video for the tune will premiere on the music video channel mun2 Thursday, February 7, along with an interview with Jack.
In other news from the Stripes, there's an old sample driving them a bit loco lately, an appearance in alta definición February 22, and a potentially excellente collaboration between Mr. White and Mr. Dylan in the works. Alas, no live dates are in the works appear to be in the works at the moment. Qué malo! Okay, okay, silencio. The Raconteurs are playing Coachella and Bonnaroo, though.

If, before she was committed, Britney Spears had been found dead with "oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine" (better known as OxyContin, Vicodin, Valium, Xanax, Restoril and Unisom) in her system, the media would be full of talk about a druggie ODing. Daniel Day-Lewis’s performance in “There Will Be Blood“ has the inside chance at the Oscar.
There are some things in life that are perfect.
A San Diego summer day. Bar Rafaeli. Tiger Woods’s golf swing. The Godfather. The 2007 New England Patriots. Oh, wait.
It appears that Daniel Day-Lewis’s performance in There Will Be Blood can be added to this list. At least according to George Clooney, imdb.com reports.
Clooney, nominated for Best Actor in this year’s Oscars for his roll in Michael Clayton, concedes Oscar defeat to Day-Lewis, claiming that no one has a chance against the British actor.
Also nominated for Best Actor is Viggo Mortensen for Eastern Promises, Tommy Lee Jones for In the Valley of Elah, and Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
After watching Day-Lewis in his nominated role, Clooney says, "If you want my honest opinion, I think it's going to be Daniel Day-Lewis. He sort of irritates all of us because he's so good. I'll tell you right now, I don't like him!"
The Academy Awards will air on February 24.

The original sounds a lot like Luc Besson's The Professional. The pic was released in 1972 and starred Bronson as a professional hitman who is planning to retire and has found young apprentice (Jan-Michael Vincent), but there is some confusion as to what the young man's overall goals are. Stallone would, of course, be taking on the Bronson role. There is no word on which one of the young actors mentioned above is in the running for the role of the apprentice.
Pic is set up at MGM and said to be budgeted at $40 million.
IMDb has a remake of The Mechanic listed with a screenplay penned by Shane Salerno (AVP-R). There is no director attached and no mention of Stallone and based on the plot that says it has been "reimagined as a spy thriller" it doesn't sound like the two projects are related.

What a night. I have so many thoughts and opinions swirling through my head. Where to begin? Note that my take on the album is only after hearing it once. I might totally change my mind on some points when I get to hear it again and again. What you read here also is only what my hands could scribble and my mind could recall.
DISCIPLINE is an album that combines an electronic 80s sound with the present-day computer age, all fit to rock your body on a dance floor near you. This is mostly a dance album which will be your aerobic workout soundtrack for the year. Computer-driven beats and sounds from the streets buttress Janet's light and playful voice through emotions of love lost, love found, and love sustained to the fullest. What else could you want in a Janet album?
After standing in line outside for about 40 minutes, the event began with a pre-reception in the lobby. We all received souvenir DISCIPLINE lyric booklets wrapped in a black, 4-flap envelopment, with a dark red plastic seal stamped with a "J". This was very helpful because it meant I didn't have to try to write excerpts of lyrics down, but I still had to scramble to get lyrics to the interludes down, which were not always complete.
The lobby was decorated with huge black-and-white Janet photos plastered on drapes and on the walls. We drank banana and blueberry rum smoothies and ate hors d'oeuvres until they let us inside Stage 1 for the listening event (the complex has five or more small theatres for off-Broadway productions). My second row center seat was the perfect place to see and hear everything, especially since I had received word that Janet would definitely be in the house. Later, I'll tell you about Janet's grand entrance.
L.A. Reid entered the stage just after 7:30 p.m. and said a simple hello and quickie introduction--nothing more needed to be said! The lights dimmed and the "Janet" logo on the video screen was replaced by a 5-minute or so promotional video (or possibly the official electronic press kit or E.P.K.) of past photos, music video footage and concert footage. The video was dazzling (especially for a fan) and serves to reestablish who she is and her impact on the music industry and the world. When the video was over, the room erupted in applause. On the screen we then saw "Janet" and "Discipline" logos interspersed with black-and-white photos from the past and present (yes, new ones), all treated with a vintage film effect of lines and blemishes, as we heard…

So TMZ has been having this live cam recently on Britney's house and had one at Heath's apartment the night he died. I wonder, is this too far?
I realize its not black and white, but I'd like to know what ONTD thinks. I'm just a curious little cat :3
Are live paparazzi cams too far?
What would you do if a cam was set up outside your house? Or outside a popular restaurant near you?
Angelina Jolie ruined a romantic lunch for The Hills lovebirds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt when she shut down their favorite restaurant for a meal with her kids.
The movie star asked staff at Los Angeles' Il Pastaio to close the restaurant and refuse anyone entrance so she could dine in peace on January 27, according to Life & Style.
And so, when former engaged couple Pratt and Montag turned up and tried to get past doormen, they were told the restaurant was closed.
The puzzled pair chose another favorite restaurant and only learned hours later why their first choice was off limits.
Pratt says, "If I knew Angelina was inside, I would have gone in and said hello.
Gwyneth Paltrow has returned to pal Madonna's Kabbalah faith amid reports she's pregnant with her third child. The actress was spotted leaving the Kabbalah center in New York last week after spending an hour inside.
And a source tells Life & Style magazine that Paltrow has turned to the Jewish faith for answers after a tough 2007.
One pal tells the publication, "Gwyneth just decided it was time to experience it (Kabbalah)... Gwyneth's a seeker; she's just looking into Kabbalah. She's exploring her beliefs."
Unconfirmed pregnancy reports spread last month after Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, were spotted trying to sneak out of Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
Other reports suggest the actress may have undergone minor surgery. Her publicists have refused to address the matter.
Why it's better to be Tom Brady than Eli Manning.

OK We Lost, but I Still Get to Be Tom Brady
By Tom Brady
I'm guessing you saw the Super Bowl. Yes, we lost. I'm not happy about it, as you can see from this picture taken two minutes after the game. I was really down, then I realized, "Hey - I'm still Tom Brady."
Let's play a little game of "Imagine." Who would you rather be, Eli Manning (gap toothed, googly-eyed, mouth-breather) or me, Tom Brady? He's marching down Broadway today covered in scraps of paper. Right now, I'm covered in supermodel. As I'm typing this, I can see the shadow of my reflection in the monitor, and even the silhouette of me is enough to bring a smile to my eyes, and when I see that smile, how can I be upset? I'm Tom Brady.
So many people are not Tom Brady. There are too many to list them all here, but open a phone book sometime and read every name except "Tom Brady." You'll see for yourself, it's pretty staggering how few people get to experience being me. I can only think of one off the top of my head.
What's so great about being Tom Brady? Here's an example: I'm dating Giselle. I'm in a Stetson ad for Giselle. So not only am I with the world's most beautiful woman, I'm actually making money by being with her. That's just one small example of what I call "The Tom Brady Experience."
So Giants, yes, congratulations. But also me, congratulations.
Jenna Jameson's baby plans
Jenna Jameson plans to spend Valentine's Day (14.02.08) trying for a baby with boyfriend Tito Ortiz.
Jenna Jameson is trying for a baby.
The former adult movie star is hoping to celebrate Valentine's Day (14.02.08) by conceiving her first child with boyfriend Tito Ortiz.
She told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "We're going to Fiji for Valentine's Day. It's going to be wild. We're going to get naked and just run in the surf and try to have a baby."
Last month, Jameson surprised former Ultimate Fighting Championship winner Ortiz at his 33rd birthday party in Las Vegas by jumping out of a giant cake wearing nothing but lingerie.
She was then joined by a group of exotic dancers, who proceeded to strip for Ortiz.
Jameson - who filed for divorce from porn producer Jay Grdina in December 2006 after three years of marriage - miscarried Grdina's baby in 2004 when she was diagnosed with skin cancer.
Jameson and Grdina then tried IVF treatment in an attempt to conceive, but gave up after Jameson said the process was "not a good thing" for her.
Eugh... After the pictures we've been seeing of her lately, I don't think she should even TRY to get pregnant...there's not enough of her to feed one, let alone two! I hope she gets healthy... A quick look back at how she's wasted away over the past year...

Sigh. Pity. She was hot. I know we've seen a few of these before, but it's scary to think of her being pregnant/trying for a baby when she's this frail!!
So...to distract ourselves from all of the Britney crap, here is a mindless poll (and I'm actually curious if there are people who prefer Jenna's new skeletal look):
Do you think Jenna looks better NOW, or better back in the days of her pin-ups?
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been forced to increase security at their home after their daughter Shiloh was targeted by kidnappers.
According to US reports the couple discovered an alarming note at the door of one of their homes. The note included a photograph of 20-month-old Shiloh and warned: 'We got this close already.'
An insider revealed: 'Shiloh has someone protecting her 24-7 and Brad and Angie are trying to avoid taking her out of the house. There have been frequent threats against their kids, but this time someone just got too close.'
Brad and Angelina are now considered two of the most security-conscious celebrities in the world. Their California home includes a £120,000 state-of-the-art control room manned by four staff and observers have estimated their security bill for 2008 could top £2.5 million.
FILMING has started on the sixth Harry Potter movie at Gloucester Cathedral.
Cast and crew are on site at the historic building this morning, which doubles as the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Stars already spotted arriving include Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, and Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley.
They arrived on set at around 10am, accompanied by Alan Rickman, who plays Professor Snape, Dame Maggie Smith, who plays Professor McGonagall, and Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy.
Also spotted were a number of doubles - lookalikes including Ron Weasley and Draco Malfoy.
Reporter Kate Nicholls managed to get a quick look behind the scenes - and saw crew busy making magical potions ready for the filming of the sixth book in the series - Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
She said: "I saw them pouring vividly-coloured soup into bowls, with different food colourings ready to be added. It looked as though they could only be getting potions ready."
There are 174 local children on site, who will be appearing as extras in the filming, and more than 200 crew members at the Cathedral.
A blue-screen has been erected in the Cathedral's cloisters to help with the computer generated effects which will be added later.
Two sets of crutches were also spotted arriving at the set - leading to speculation the scenes after Ron falls from his broom in a game of quidditch could be being filmed.
It is believed filing will go on until 7pm tonight, and will be finished at the Cathedral by the end of tomorrow.

Life was good, and being part of the massive New Kid phenomenon that swept the world was merely icing on the cake. And you know what? I really, really liked that icing.
It's been said that each generation has a musical moment that defines them. It's also been said that each generation of teenage girls worships one particular singer or group that it deems to be the cutest, coolest, most awesome, most talented, most electrifying guy(s) on the face of the planet.
In the 1950s, it was Elvis. The '60s saw the Beatles take the world by storm. In the '70s, David Cassidy set girls' hearts aflutter and made them weak. The early '80s ushered in the British super band Duran Duran. But it was an awesome group of boys from Boston who emerged in the late 1980s/early 1990s that had the biggest affect on me. You see, that was the highlight of pop music idol worship for my generation, my age of teen bliss. That is when I, along with millions of other enraptured teenaged girls around the world, was first introduced to the five most famous kids from Beantown: New Kids on the Block. For the record, my name is Retannical, and, yes, I'm proud to say that I was (and will always be) a "Blockhead."

Laura Wasser to represent Britney again? Maybe.
TMZ has learned disso queen Laura Wasser paid a secret visit at the UCLA psych ward last Tuesday, and the family wants Laura back as Brit's custody attorney.
Wasser, who repped Brit in the divorce, quit the case -- we're told because Britney wouldn't listen to her. But sources say Jamie and Lynne want her back.
TMZ knows Jamie wants to 86 Trope and Trope as Brit's reps, in part because they have been chummy with Sam Lutfi. People at UCLA say Britney "lit up" when she saw Wasser. But there's a hitch -- we're told the deal will be sealed ONLY if Britney doesn't fight the conservatorship. As of Tuesday, she was fine letting Jamie call the shots, but it looks like that's changed.
If Brit accepts the conservatorship and Jamie is at the reins, Laura Wasser could be back in the Britney business.

A deal has been struck between the major media companies and the Writers Guild of America to end the writers' strike, former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner revealed on CNBC.
"It's over," Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general."
Eisner, speaking live on CNBC's "Fast Money," seemed to hesitate initially about whether it was possible that the writers could still reject the agreement, but finally suggested the deal's acceptance was inevitable.
"A deal has been made, and they'll be back to work very soon," Eisner said, adding, "I know a deal's been made. I know it's over."
Eisner did not elaborate on terms of the agreement. He said he expects most of the media companies affected by the strike to have "small" write-downs as a result of the deal. Eisner said the deal was struck last Friday.
As a result of studio cutbacks, however, many of the writers who went on strike are unlikely to return to the same big-money contracts they'd had as individuals with the studios, Eisner said.
TMZ just received the following statement from Brit's attorney Adam Streisand:
"At the request of Britney Spears, Adam Streisand, a Partner at Loeb & Loeb LLP, met with her yesterday to discuss her legal rights in connection with the conservatorship over her person and estate. Following that meeting, Mr. Streisand learned that the court had issued orders that prevent Ms. Spears from retaining counsel of her own choosing, and on that basis, Mr.Streisand has decided he will not represent her at this time."
i know people are getting tired of britney but i just wanted to post this to be able to ask, so jamie being a conservator means he has control over her? i hope so.
Tyra Banks May Have Had An Unfortunate Accident
Former New York "It" boy and Paper magazine blogger Fabian Basabe writes on his blog today that the supermodel turned TV personality, um, soiled herself at Fashion Week. Basabe was filming an interview in the W suite at the tents, and suddenly a whole cadre of people barged in and kicked him out. The reason? Tyra needed to change her clothes. Because of the incident. Apparently they had a spare change of clothes all lined up which makes him wonder if it's happened before. Obviously we have no real confirmation on this. I'm not really sure if Tyra Banks pooping herself is newsworthy, but maybe Basabe's continued usage of the icky term "messed herself" is? Apologies.

Former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss was arrested in Nevada on Thursday for investigation of driving under the influence and possessing drugs without a prescription.
Fleiss, 42, was released on $1,300 bail following her morning arrest near her home in Pahrump, police say.
Nye County, Nev., deputies responded to a DUI call and contacted the onetime madam – who now runs a laundry – at 9:23 a.m.
"During the investigation she was found to have prescription narcotics on her person, not in a prescription bottle, and could produce no evidence that the prescription pain medication had been prescribed to her," police said in a press release. "She was arrested and transported to [jail]."
A male passenger in her car, identified as John Owen, 53, was also arrested for possession of marijuana and being under the influence.

Looking for a spiffy new place? Corcoran has got just the thing! A three-bedroom, two-bath, 4,400-square-foot space with a gourmet kitchen, office, and balcony overlooking the heart of Soho. Amenities include fifteen-foot tin ceilings, cast-iron columns, exposed-brick walls, a wood-burning fireplace, and one unique feature that will really impress your friends and co-workers: It's the very apartment in which Heath Ledger died. Yes, a scant two weeks after Ledger overdosed in his apartment at 421 Broome Street, his place is apparently already on the market. This is New York, after all, and as one broker tells the Post, "You don't wait around in a hot rental market like this." The cocktail-party anecdote that living in the deceased actor's pad will provide is going to cost you, though: According to the Post, the place is going for $25,000 a month now, $3,000 up from what Ledger started renting it for back in September. But that’s nothing compared with what they're going to start asking for it once someone says it's haunted.

Britney Spears was released early from UCLA Medical Center's psych ward because a court representative found "no just cause" for the hold, a source tells PEOPLE.
The doctor overseeing Spears's care had wanted her to stay, (as did her parents), but the decision was overridden by the court representative, the source said.
The source said that the doctor who was vetoed was not Spears's psychiatrist Dr. Deborah Nadel, but another attending doctor at UCLA. Once Nadel issued the singer's 72-hour hold at UCLA, Nadel was not involved in Spears's hospitalization, the source said.
The decision followed regular procedure for any patient on a 14-day hold.
The procedure calls for a hearing at the hospital to find out whether the hold is justified. The rep for the court, called a "hearing referee" – who is usually a lawyer – interviews the patient and doctor to determine if there's "just cause" for detainment.
"This is when law and medicine collide," says attorney Terry K. Wasserman, who's not involved in the Spears matter, "when a lawyer can override a doctor's opinion."

KANAB, Utah (CNN) -- Ellen doesn't look like a top-fighting dog.
Caregivers at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary hope to resocialize the pit bulls so they can be adopted.
She wags her tail and gives kisses to anyone who greets her. But the deep scars on her face are permanent reminders of her difficult and violent past.
Ellen is one of the 47 pit bulls seized from an illegal dog fighting ring on property owned by disgraced NFL quarterback Michael Vick.
The dogs were bred to fight to the death. Of course, if trained properly they can be gentle loyal pets.
Twenty-two of the pit bulls now reside at sanctuary at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in the mountain town of Kanab, Utah. The 25 other dogs have been placed at rehabilitation shelters across the country.
All of them are lucky to be alive.
The Humane Society of the United States and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wanted the dogs euthanized. But rescue operations won their fight to give these animals a second chance at life.
"There's a belief by a lot of people that these dogs cannot be rehabilitated," said the facility's veterinarian, Dr. Frank McMillan. "It's true that they can't all be [rehabilitated], but we're finding out here and elsewhere, that they can and they become very nice pets."
The dogs have only been at the shelter about a month and their caregivers have already seen signs of progress.
"I was surprised at how many were shy. There were quite a few that were under socialized and pretty shut down," said Michelle Besmehn, who oversees the dogs at the sanctuary.
"I've been really pleased at how quickly they're coming around. It's actually been fun to see personalities are starting to show. "
One of the most affectionate and lovable dogs at the shelter is Lucas -- Vick's champion fighter.
Shelter staff believes the scarred, brown 65-pound pit bull won praise and special treatment for winning fights and money, perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars for Vick and his associates.
Despite his good nature, a court ruled that Lucas can never leave the sanctuary because of his violent past.
Dogs that didn't fight well were beaten, drowned, shot and even electrocuted by Vick and his associates, according to court records.
Thought it's nearly impossible to know the extent of the emotional and physical abuse these dogs endured, in some cases it's apparent.
One dog, Georgia, had all 42 of her teeth pulled. Caregivers believe it was to prevent her from attacking male dogs during forced breeding.
"We don't know who did it. We assume it's because she was such a valuable breeding dog," McMillian said. "Very often females will not accept males in breeding and will attack."
The National Geographic Channel will profile Georgia and three of the other pit bulls as part of an ongoing television series, "Dogtown," which follows the rehabilitation and resocialization of the worst cases.
The hope is that six months from now, some of the dogs will become normal, lovable pets that are safe enough to adopt.
Even if they never get adopted, the dogs will always have a home at Best Friends, which doesn't euthanize for behavioral reasons.
The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback is serving a 23-month sentence at maximum-security prison in Leavenworth, Kansas. The NFL suspended Vick indefinitely without pay. He agreed to pay nearly $1 million to subsidize the various facilities that are caring for his former pit bulls.
"To me, and to those of us that care about animals, it's more than fair and maybe not enough," said McMillan.
"If he wants to play football, none of us here care about that. But we don't want him ever owning a dog again."
AnderCoo 360 is going inside a no-kill shelter to talk about doggies who fought. It's on at 10 pm.

Some may argue that every quarterback—by the very nature of the position—exudes a certain amount of sex appeal. As the team's most visible player, quarterbacks have to be leaders, keep a cool head under pressure, and be mentally and physically tough—all attractive attributes in any man.
Among the hundreds or more to play the position professionally over the years, there are undeniable standouts—some for whom character, grit, sportsmanship, and the occasional vulnerable moment enhance an already pretty face. Narrowing the list to 10 was difficult, not unlike trying to throw a touchdown pass during a full-on blitz, but here they are:

This Heisman Trophy winner from USC was a first-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2006, and we're certainly not the first to have noted his good looks. He was named ESPN's Hottest Male Athlete of the Year and one of People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People. He became the first rookie in NFL history to throw over 400 yards in a game. I have just learned that this weekends 50th Annual Grammy Awards will feature a duet from Nelly Furtado and Cher. However, there is major drama going down right now at their rehearsals.
Cher is acting like a HUGE diva and my source says, "Cher was being bitchy because the production kept being stopped and she was asked to work on certain things in her performance. Just things as simple as to where she needed to stand. Nelly's part was amazing and Cher literally bombed."
Finally Nelly said, "I need a drink!"
My source continues, "Cher's face is so 'red' right now. She is furious speaking to staffers her saying that Nelly had the performance all worked out her way and she didn't need to listen to a 'f*cking kid!' "
Tina Turner and Beyonce have also just rehearsed an amazing duet together for the Grammy Awards to air this weekend.
And Kid Rock will be making a duet with a famous jazz pianist.

My brother works as a ski lift operator at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes, California, and today or yesterday his chairlift broke down. Stuck with him at the top were Brad Pitt and Maddox (as you all know, Ang and Brad's son). He didn't have time to go into much detail, but he did tell me that Brad was very courteous and they had a good fifteen minute conversation shooting the shit; Brad didn't put himself off as some badass and really, knowing my brother, Kenny would have totally blown him off if he had. As far as Maddox went? He stood there the whole time very politely and didn't say one word.
More evidence as to their weird care of their children? Or just good parenting? Possibly!

(02-05) 21:40 PST -- On your scorecard, mark down a whiff for George Lopez on his first swing at this week's AT&T National Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The tournament doesn't start until Thursday, but when I offered Lopez a chance to kick off his favorite event with a big bang by making headlines from here to Hollywood, he foozled his niblick, so to speak.
Here's the deal: Bill Murray is the absolute king of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the top drawing card (when Tiger's not around) and a crazed, amazing, nonstop, 18-hole show.
Lopez, America's Mexican (that's the title of his Grammy-nominated comedy album), began playing the Pebble event four years ago and he is a huge hit with the galleries.
A rumor has circulated the last couple of years that Murray and Lopez don't get along. Comedy egos collide. Murray considers Lopez an interloper, or Lopez is envious of Murray's legend status here.
And really, what's juicier than a good superstar feud?
Murray won't be in the field this week because of his day job, movie-acting. In fact, there are rumors that he might have played his last AT&T. So it's the perfect time for Lopez not only to take top billing, but to go public with the feud.
"For some reason, man, some people don't think me and Bill get along," Lopez said over the phone last week. "I don't think (that's the case). He seems to be pretty cool."
Lopez said the rumor probably started four years ago in the Wednesday Celebrity Shootout, an anything-goes giggle-fest with heavy celeb interaction. Some observers observed that the two big comedians, Murray and Lopez, didn't interact with one another.
Lopez said that was because the two had not met. To this day, they haven't spent much time together at the tournament.
"Are we friends?" Lopez said. "No, because we really don't know each other."
But respect? Lopez has tons.
"Bill Murray wrote the handbook (of celeb-golf comedy)," Lopez said. "The greatest thing I've ever seen was when he pulled the fish out of his bag."
Murray leaves some huge shoes to fill this week, but Lopez can work a gallery. Comedy-wise, he swings big, doesn't lay up. He studied Murray but has his own style.
Don't mess with Bill Murray - he will break every bone in your body with every golf stick in his bag
Writers Strike Isn't Over -- Despite What FrankenEisner Says
A bunch of idiots on the Internet suddenly think the writers strike is over just because Michael Eisner today says it is. Earth To Web: Eisner hasn't mattered since 2004-2005 when he was kicked to the curb by Disney and its shareholders. That said, here is the schedule for the next few days which may or may not be the end game: On Saturday, the WGA membership meets at the Shrine Auditorium. A guild phone bank has been making calls to members today urging them to attend.

Our fans have stood by us through the ups and downs over the last year, and this cruise is a great way for us to personally thank them,” said Eric Martsolf, co-host of the cruise. “Rumor is I’ll even entertain with an intimate concert exclusively for this group of fans.”
Co-host Eva Tamargo said that the Harmony fans deserve the opportunity to give it a beautiful kiss goodbye at sea, “…in honor of the loyalty the fans have shown us for nine wonderful years,” said Eva. “You were there at the beginning, let’s be there together as we bid farewell!” Private activities during the cruise will include a variety show, Q&A session with the stars, several opportunities to meet and interact with the hosts, cocktail parties, Harmony Prom and even a few surprise events! “I promise it will be an experience you’ll never forget” Eva continued!
