BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- Eleven people were injured when they fell off the back of a truck during the shooting of Tom Cruise's latest film in Berlin, police said on Monday.
LONDON - Pete Doherty was arrested early on Monday on suspicion of drugs possession, a police source said. Doherty, 28, was arrested with two others, a man and a woman, after being stopped in a car in Tower Hamlets in east London.
The troubled singer, who has had an on-off relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, had been performing with his band Babyshambles at the V Festival in Staffordshire late on Sunday.
All three were taken to an east London police station where they remain in custody.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “At 2:30 a.m. officers in Tower Hamlets arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of possessing drugs.”
Doherty was warned by a magistrate earlier this month he faced a prison sentence if he failed to demonstrate he was trying to kick his drugs habit.
The singer pleaded guilty in July to possessing crack cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine.
Scarlett has been busy filming Woody Allen’s Untitled Spanish Project in Spain.
Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds continues to heat things up in Barcelona over the weekend.
“I got in today to L.A. from Shreveport, Louisiana - from the set of this movie I’m filming called ‘Major Movie Star,’” she grinned, giving us some details on the flick she stars in alongside Jessica Simpson. “Now there’s all these people here — all these kids and fans and they’re all screaming — and I’m so happy to be here.”
The “here” was the world premiere of “High School Musical 2,” starring herself, Ashley Tisdale and Zak Efron. And once all the screaming and singing was over, she assured us, she’d be back on-set opposite the world’s most famous ditzy blonde.
“I’m co-starring next to Jessica Simpson, and it’s about a major movie star that joins the United States Army,” she explained of the plot. “We’ve been going through boot camp…and we really are going through boot camp!”
These days, Rulin has been face down in the mud alongside Simpson - a long way from East High School. “I’ve been going through mortar fire, and swamps, and I have bug bites, bruises and scars now,” she said. “There’s a group of five of us, and we’re running and working together as the army would.”
“She’s a wonderful soul, and beautiful, and I love her to death,” Rulin said of her long-legged co-star. “She’s a talented actress, and I’m so happy that she comes to work with 120 percent, and delivers.”
After she wraps the flick “I’m going to go to Russia to see my family,” Rulin said with a sigh. At that point, things will return to normal for a few months - and then it’ll all start back up again when “Major Movie Star” hits theaters in early ‘08.
Setzer is taking another stab at recreating the swing fad almost ten years later, but is taking a unique, experimental approach. His forthcoming album, Wolfgang’s Big Night Out, is a concept project in which Setzer uses an 18-membered band to create swing-styled remakes of classical music arrangements. The quasi-covers feature original lyrics over familiar melodies - - quite a unique way to introduce younger generations to Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky.
The pay cabler's new promo spot features characters from its shows uttering various exclamations that include the word "sh*t" -- from "oh" to "holy."
By itself, such a promo would be unremarkable, given the R-rated content of so many Showtime skeins and movies. But the ad -- spearheaded by Showtime execs Frank Pintauro and Angie Speranza -- doesn't stop there. The montage is set to the Centralia song "Holy Sh*t," which includes lyrics such as "I've been such an as*hole/I've been such a prick" and "Holy, holy sh*t/We've got the world by the tit."
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, jailed for buying weapons from bombers who attacked Mumbai in 1993, has been given 'temporary' bail by the Supreme Court.
Dutt was sentenced for six years three weeks ago and is being held in a prison in the western Indian city of Pune.
It is not yet clear if the actor would be free on Monday or whether he would have to wait for legal formalities.
Dutt is the most high-profile of 100 people convicted in connection with the blasts which killed 257 people.
He was cleared of conspiracy, but found guilty of illegally possessing a rifle and a pistol.
Dutt's lawyers appealed for bail in the Supreme Court a fortnight ago.
Chinese action star Jet Li has voiced frustration that his Hollywood films do not get shown in his home country.
Writing on his website, the star said his 2000 hit Romeo Must Die was banned by censors for featuring gangsters.
In 2001, Kiss of the Dragon was banned because Li's character, a Chinese policeman, killed people abroad.
"Films don't always have to be realistic," said Li, who argued China's film industry was suffering as a result of the restrictions placed on it.
"Typically, action films have good and bad characters," the star said.
"If gangsters aren't appropriate and police officers aren't appropriate, then what type of character can there be that wouldn't start an argument?"
"It leaves only the ancient Chinese stories to be produced."
I don't understand the banning of movies featuring gangsters. I know Zhang Yimou's Shanghai Triad was all about gangsters and it wasn't banned.
Ex-con Paris, 26, is desperate to raise her profile in the UK — and is prepared to be locked up for another three weeks in the Channel 4 house.
A Big Bro source said: “We told Paris, ‘Name your price’.
“We’re in firm talks, and it would be a fantastic coup to get her.”
An insider said Paris is aiming to show she is more than an “heirhead socialite”.
They added: “She wants people to see that she’s not a bimbo or a wildchild.
“The only time anyone hears about her is when she’s been up to no good — or saying something ridiculous.
“She’s actually smart and funny, with lots of interesting things to say.
"She would easily be the star of the show — but obviously she won’t do it unless the money is right.”
Paris would become the highest paid celeb on the show to date, with chiefs set to offer her a sum to dwarf Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s £300,000.
There is no hint yet which other celebrities will be go into house and share the Diary Room with Paris in January.
But appearing on Big Bro would cap a tumultuous year for the hotel heiress.
Her reality show The Simple Life was axed after the pair fell out.
Then in June she was thrown in jail for 23 days for driving offences.
Meanwhile Celeb Big Bro bosses are anxious to get the show back on track after the race row earlier this year.
"It’s a kabbalistic symbol. Wearing it is meant to bring down God’s mercy and kindness.”
"Is not a Kabbalah string. There’s no religious meaning to it.”
Ryan Reynolds says “The Flash” may yet live. It just might not be in the superhero’s own film first. Just hours ago, our own Shawn Adler peppered the oft-rumored star of “The Flash” about his association with the DC comics speedster and here’s what Reynolds said: “‘The Flash’ isn’t dead at all. There’s talk of it being a JLA movie, the Justice League having them all together. And then there’s other talk of doing a ‘Flash’ movie with [director] Shawn Levy.”
Rumors of a Justice League movie have gained momentum in recent weeks. Now we’re hearing it straight from one of the potential stars’ mouths. When asked if he thought the JLA film might happen first, Reynolds told us, “It might, yeah. I don’t really know how much I’m allowed to talk about that stuff. But I’m sure they’ll figure out something. It’s no secret that they have a JLA script and it’s a project that’s in development – the contents of which, who knows. We’ll see.”
For an actor who’s no longer “officially” attached to play a role, Reynolds sounded very excited about the prospect of a Justice League film, “I’d love to see a full on Justice League movie done, the scope of which is just enormous. I think it’s something they can pull off.”

Japanese supermodel Sayoko Yamaguchi, who was one of the first Asians to grace the fashion world's top catwalks, has died at age 57, domestic media said Monday.
The model, who made her mark on the industry in the 1970s, died on August 14 from acute pneumonia, the reports said.
Yamaguchi, remembered for her shiny straight black hair with the fringe cut right above her eyes, made her Paris debut in 1972, and later strutted her stuff in New York and other major Western fashion capitals.
In 1977, she was named by Newsweek magazine as one of the top six models in the world.
In her later years, Yamaguchi performed on stage and in movies, and also designed stage costumes.
Do It Well, directed by the highly sought after photographer and director, David LaChapelle. The story takes place in a vivid, colorful, stylized David LaChapelle world. It’s a sexy, sweaty underworld through which Jennifer struts with all the street-tough style of a ghetto goddess… channeling PaM Grier in films like “Coffy” and “Foxy Brown”. She’s a vision of a badass street vixen, starring in a modern take on “Sweet Charity”. This is a world of danger, where everything is colored in shades of gold, from dark to light, but still dirty and gritty. Walls are made of cinderblock, painted gold and covered in graffiti. Furniture is chipped and tarnished gold. The world Jennifer has entered is a seedy ghetto harem.
