Richie wants to be pop star

CELEBUTANTE Nicole Richie is planning on following in the footsteps of her father Lionel Richie - and on-again, off-again bestie Paris Hilton - by launching a pop career.

The Simple Life star, who was adopted by the 80s singer when she was a young child, admits she is desperate to launch a music career.

Nicole, 25, insists if she can enjoy just a tiny percentage of the success her dad has had she will be delighted.

"My whole goal in life is to be a singer. I really feel I am just starting in life, there are so many chapters coming up," she said.

Microsoft to finance 'Halo' movie

Microsoft Corp. plans to finance a movie based on its popular video game "Halo" after Universal Pictures and 20th Century Fox backed out of the project.

The two studios cut their ties to "Halo" because of costs associated with the movie, which had a preliminary budget of $145 million, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The studios also failed to persuade the filmmakers to renegotiate their contracts, the newspaper said.

"We are disappointed that Universal wanted to significantly renegotiate the financial points of the deal," Microsoft said in a statement Friday. "We are already in discussions with potential partners who recognize the value of the 'Halo' brand."

Fox and Universal also had been in a power struggle over the movie's control, the Times said. The studios refused to comment.

The movie -- a large production replete with complicated special effects -- is scheduled for a summer 2008 release.

Madonna:Toys R Me

(She used to be so pretty)

Madonna has splashed out £15,000 on toys for her adopted son.

The 'Hung Up' singer treated 13-month-old David Banda to a child-sized electric car, a £5,000 rocking horse, giant cuddly toys and designer clothes.

She has also decorated his nursery with giant murals of tigers and lions and installed a surround-sound system.

A source told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Madonna had great fun choosing baby David's toys and accessories, getting him all the latest, coolest gear. As well as a designer wardrobe, Madonna and Guy have laid his bed with cotton and cashmere sheets and a music system will pipe out classical music.

"Madonna's only stipulation was that there was no television in his room. As with her other two children, she doesn't want David growing up watching mundane rubbish."

Keane give out free memory stick
It comes free with their new single

Keane are to give out a free memory stick with their new single 'Nothing In My Way'.

The gadget will allow fans to transfer the song - as well as other tracks, videos and screensavers - onto their computer and then their MP3 player.

Jon Turner the general manager of Keane's record label Island explained the band were trying out the stick with a hope to develop it into a credible alternative to the CD by 2007.

"I do see it as a potential format for the future," he told The Guardian, "but I don't think it's going to run down the use of digital services. It's an interesting experiment. I'm keen to see what people make of it."

The memory stick will be made available exclusively in HMV shops from October 30 and will cost £3.99.

A celebrity adopted a child from the same African orphanage as Madonna - but gave the youngster back two months later.

Home of Hope director Rev Thomson Chipeta, who refused to name the star, is now concerned that the children he cares for will suffer because of the backlash following Madonna's decision to adopt Malawi orphan David Banda.

"We had a phone call from supporters in the UK on Monday asking what was going on," he told the News of the World. "I am concerned the reaction may harm the work we are doing. A lot of children are going to suffer because of this. Who knows why they picked David Banda from all the other children?

"Another very famous person took a child from us for adoption and brought it back a few months later."

Martin Lowdon, who runs the Malawi Orphan Fund, added: "We regret the fact that there has been so much publicity about one orphan when there are still large numbers of orphans in need of welfare provision."

Crabbe likes the crack

By Henry Austin
TEENAGE Harry Potter star Jamie Waylett is today exposed as a sordid cocaine user.

Shocking photos show the 17-year-old actor, schoolboy bully Vincent Crabbe in the hit movies, sniffing a fat "line" of coke.

He is said to take the illegal Class A drug at wild parties.

The podgy millionaire has also invited STRIPPERS back to his flat.

The pictures - filmed by the pal on a mobile phone - show shameless Waylett:

SNORTING coke through a tightly rolled-up £10 note off a friend's coffee table.

LEANING over to hoover up every last grain of the drug.

SMIRKING as the white powder kicks in and apparently revelling in its affect on his brain.

The People can also reveal that out-of-control Waylett has SMOKED marijuana joints and BRAGGED about getting high at a Harry Potter film premiere.

Roles in four Potter films have made him big money and he is currently filming the fifth in the series, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix.

But the friend, who captured the squalid night at a pal's wild party in North London just two weeks ago, said: "Jamie is spiralling out of control.

"He takes cocaine almost every time I see him, whether it's at a party at a friend's house or at his own home. He's a lways chopping out a line.

"If he runs out, people can get it easily for him. I dread to think what it's costing him. But if I was to guess I'd say he's spending hundreds of pounds a week on it.

Lily Allen post

Hmm, remember all that fuss about a possible feud between Peaches Geldof & Lily Allen and all that? I was just browsing her site and came across her blogs and I thought it was kind of interesting. It doesn't have the date on them though.

Also I thought some of you might find this interesting...

And since we're on the whole Lily Allen track, here's an article from the September GQ with her that I don't know if many people have seen...

I have to agree with her about the Madonna thing. I wish she'd just disappeared after the Music album, it was the last really good thing she did. And I love that Dolly Parton song.

Reichen tells of Air Force dreams and sex assault

Lance Bass Beau: Sex Assault in Military for Being Gay
New Book Tells Story of Being in the Closet and in the Air Force

Oct. 22, 2006 — - Reichen Lehmkuhl is perhaps best known for dating pop star Lance Bass of N'Sync fame or winning a $1 million on the adventure reality show "The Amazing Race." But before Lehmkuhl's name hit celebrity magazines, he was an Air Force captain living with a secret: He is gay.

And as far back as he can remember, Lehmkuhl had dreams of being in the Air Force.

"It was a childhood dream to fly, and then it came more of an adult dream to not just fly but to … [go to] the Air Force Academy and to be an officer, to be a leader in the U.S. Air Force," he told ABC News.

But Lehmkuhl said when he entered the Air Force Academy, he was living with the secret of his sexuality.

"And I remember the panic that came over me at that moment realizing, 'What am I going to do? Am I going to be able to change this? How can I admit this?' " he said.

Another rapper in trouble with the law

Morgan State University police are considering whether to pursue criminal charges against rapper Lil' Wayne after someone threw money into a crowd during a performance, causing a melee that left three young women injured.

It was unclear whether Lil' Wayne or a member of his entourage flung the bills into the crowd, said university Police Chief Adrian Wiggins. The artist will not be invited back to the campus, university officials said.

"It was as dangerous a thing to do as standing in a crowded movie theater and shouting, 'Fire,'" said Clinton Coleman, a Morgan State spokesman.

Coleman said the majority of the cash consisted of $1 bills, but there were some $5, $10 and $20 bills.

Two women, both age 20, suffered leg injuries and were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital. A third was injured but refused medical treatment.

The concert Thursday night at the university's Hill Field House, which holds about 4,000 people, also featured Busta Rhymes and was sold out.

Vickie Charles, Lil' Wayne's publicist at Universal Music Group, did not respond to messages left by The Baltimore Sun seeking comment.

Lil' Wayne, whose legal name is Dwayne Michael Carter, was arrested in August on drug possession charges in Atlanta. He was nominated recently for three BET music awards.

Cage puts up Bel-Air home for $35M

Nicolas Cage is leaving Bel-Air. The actor has put his home in the tony community on the market for $35 million. He bought the seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom spread eight years ago for a mere $7 million.

The 11,000-square-foot Tudor-style home sits on an acre just above Sunset Blvd. It has a two-story entrance, a front yard fountain, an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a two-bedroom guest house.

Singer Tom Jones owned the home for 20 years before Cage, and before that it belonged to crooner Dean Martin.

Home values in the area have increased 90 percent since Cage bought the place in 1998, according to DataQuick Information Systems.

The 42-year-old actor won't be lacking for places to stay. He owns other homes in Southern California, and earlier this year bought a castle in Bavaria and a private island in the Bahamas, according to People magazine.

Cage won a best actor Oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas."

Earlier this year he played a cop tracking a missing child in "The Wicker Man" and a Port Authority officer in the Oliver Stone film "World Trade Center."

Celebs protest proposed Malibu facility

Clean water advocate Pierce Brosnan and other celebrity residents gathered at Surfrider Beach on Sunday to protest a natural gas facility proposed 14 miles off the Malibu coast.

The crowd included Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford, Jane Seymour, Dick Van Dyke and Tea Leoni.

There are currently five terminals proposed for California, with three along the Southern California coastline.

One of the world's largest energy companies, Australian-based BHP Billiton, wants to build the Cabrillo Port Liquefied Natural Gas facility off the coast of Malibu and Oxnard.

Opponents say the terminals fail to meet clean air requirements and would be terrorist targets.

A decision is expected some time next year.

Isaiah Washington -- A Terror on the Set?

Isaiah Washington got into it big time with Patrick Dempsey on the set of 'Grey's Anatomy.' Now TMZ has learned that Washington has had other on-set blowups. A simmering feud between the two actors bubbled over last week, when Washington reportedly got in Dempsey's face, said some "disgusting things," then allegedly pushed "McDreamy" against a wall and choked him. We're told the incident was so intense it shut down production for a short time. Now TMZ has learned of two other incidents that make Washington sound like "Dr. McNightmare."
In the year 2000, Washington was shooting the TV show "Soul Food" for Showtime in Toronto. Washington and an actress, who played his wife, were shooting a scene in which Isaiah was supposed to give the woman a superficial kiss. We're told to the horror of everyone, Washington grabbed the woman and planted a "forceful, aggressive kiss."
The actress became irate, which then infuriated Washington who began screaming at her. At that point the director stepped in to correct Washington, and the actor went off on him. Executive Producer Tracey Edmonds then took over and Washington went off on her.
In 1997 there was yet another incident on the set of the TV show "High Incident." Washington was a guest star on the show, but we're told the gig ended abruptly after the actor had a physical altercation with a crew member. We're told it was serious enough that police were called.
As for the "Grey's Anatomy" melee, there are reports that Washington taunted Dempsey by saying, "I'm not your little faggot like [name redacted]," referring to a fellow cast member. Yesterday, "Grey's" cast member T.R. Knight revealed to PEOPLE magazine that he's gay, possibly prompted by public revelation of Washington's outburst.
