Pete Doherty's music career looks to be back on track after he reportedly signed a £1 million ($1,900,000) record deal with Parlophone.
According to the Daily Mirror, Babyshambles have been snapped up for a seven figure sum after an intense bidding war following the expiry of their deal with indie label Rough Trade.
The new contract will see the band release an EP in the next few months with a number of full albums to follow. Babyshambles have already recorded several new tracks.
A source told the Mirror: "The band can't wait to get their new music on the shelves. It's a very exciting time because a lot of record labels were after them, but in the end they got the best deal, money-wise and album-wise, with Parlophone."
In the October issue of Glamour, Jessica Simpson admits that she artificially plumped her lips late last fall.
“I had that Restylane stuff,” she says. “It looked fake to me. I didn’t like that. But…it went away in, like, four months. My lips are back to what they were. Thank God!”
New York City plastic surgeon Andrew Jacono says Restylane – a protein-based gel – is safer than collagen (which comes from animals): “It’s the gold standard.”
The eternal bachelor usually dates much younger women - including TV presenter Lisa Snowdon, 34 - but he's stepping out with Oceans 13 co-star, Ellen Barkin.
They have been inseparable since meeting on the Beverly Hills set - with 45-year-old George telling pals he's "electrified" by Ellen, despite the seven-year age gap.
He has fallen for her stimulating conversation and they've bonded on fast rides on his motorbike. One of his friends says: "It's a match made in heaven."
George - single since he was dumped by Krista Allen, 35, in March - has been comforting Ellen following her shock divorce from Ron Perelman, the billionaire owner of Revlon.
In January, the Sea Of Love star was served with divorce papers at the couple's New York mansion. Her husband of six years never returned home but two security men arrived with instructions to stay in the property until she moved out. In an astonishing "fast-track" divorce granted 26 days later Ellen is believed to have got at least £10million from a secret pre-nup agreement.
Her first marriage was to Irish actor Gabriel Byrne, with whom she has a son and daughter.
Our spy says: "George has been a shoulder to cry on for Ellen - he's helping her get over the divorce.
"She fancies him like mad and you can cut the sexual chemistry on set with a knife.
"He is so different from her ex husband, which she loves."
His pal Brad Pitt certainly approves and has introduced Ellen to his missus Angelina Jolie in the hope that the pair become friends so they can all double-date. We'd love to be a fly on the wall for that one...
OMG, I think that's hot. She's perfect for him, imo. I could see this.
Wayyy back in 2003, Ridley Scott was real keen on directing a sequel to his Oscar-winning flick Gladiator. However, unable to come up with a way to make the film without Russell Crowe (ya know, since his character Maximus died at the end of the first one), Scott quickly abandoned the idea. Then, in 2005, there was word from both Crowe and Djimon Hounsou that a Gladiator 2 script was, indeed, in the works.
One year and a Gladiator musical later, nothing more had been said on the subject ... until now. According to reports (which feel strangely familiar, so feel free to hang us out to dry if this is old news), Ridley Scott will not only be making a sequel to Gladiator, but he also plans to somehow factor Crowe into the whole thing. Says Scott, "I will probably do a sequel to Gladiator. The only problem is Russell Crowe was such a powerful presence and, of course, Maximus dies at the end. We'll have to get Russell back somehow." I don't know about you, but I'd love to see how they plan on resurrecting Maximus without giving it some cheesy soap opera-ish spin. As of now there are no other details, but you bet your ass I'll be on the look out for some. All hail Maximus!

Nick clearly wants Vanessa -- and bad. He wouldn't let her get away for even a moment as the two entered an upscale New York Hotel.
First, Vanessa's shapely legs carry her quickly up the front steps. Then, in front of several cameras, Nick dashes around the car and lunges up the the stairs after her, shouting and reaching for his girl.
It's not the traditional kind of Public Display of Affection, but no less telling about how much Mr. Lachey is entranced by Ms. Minnillo.
Exclusive: Jen's First Screen Test -- Exposed!
Back in the early Nineties, prior to fame and fortune, it was a killer green elf -- and not the paparazzi -- that was chasing Jennifer Aniston around.
Jen made her feature film debut in the low budget horror movie "Leprechaun" and TMZ has uncovered her screen test and behind-the-scenes footage from the set of the 1993 film (shot in 1991).
Jen is raw and uncensored as she spits gum into writer/director Mark Jones' hand.
But despite not being a seasoned actress at the time, we're told Jen behaved like a real pro. Aniston endured freezing cold temperatures while dressed in shorts that were anything but hot -- in every sense of the word. She also suffered a sprained ankle but took it all in stride and didn't complain.
"Leprechaun" also supersedes "the Rachel" as the scariest thing Jennifer Aniston has ever been in. A year after the film's release Jen skyrocketed to fame on "Friends" and the rest, as they say, is Hollywood history.
Victoria Beckham is dishing details about her new style and fashion book titled 'That Extra Half An Inch' (in stores later this year.)
The former Spice Girl's book is described as a "revealing and practical" guide to "fashion, beauty and style". Here are some highlights:
Victoria on her rise to fame: "I've always been a girls' girl. And I know from experience that making the very best of yourself is something any woman can do. I was never the six-foot-tall pin-up. I've always been the girl next-door who got lucky. I've always been a girls' girl. And I know from experience that making the very best of yourself is something any woman can do. I've come a long way in the last 10 years, but this book isn't my attempt to tell you what or what not to do. It's just to share some of what I've learned."
Victoria on what it takes to look fabulous like her: "Whether you've got £20 to spend in Top Shop or £2,000 to spend at Gucci, looking good isn't about money, it's about style - and style never goes out of fashion."
Victoria on who she credit as her style icon: "To my mum - my first fashion guru who taught me how to sew, showed me how clothes should fit and told me never to wear horizontal stripes and never to eat beetroot because it stains. Most importantly she taught me how to enjoy being a girl."
Victoria....trying to be funny: ""P.S. -Jack may have brought me up, but in actual fact I know that my real mother was always Joan Collins. But that must always remain a secret. Mum's the word..."
Victoria on wearing skinny jeans and flat shoes: "....you end up looking like a golf club."
Victoria on wedges: "Some wedges look great but you can look like your feet are encased in cement."
There must be something wrong with me, because I love the cover. She's got a weird look on her face and I'm not crazy about the sketched stuff (Although I will take a pink Kelly bag anyday). I love the color of the dress and the pose hides the fact that she weighs 89 lbs soaking wet. (That extra half inch? Are we talking length or girth? I'd take girth anyday btw.)
"She's head over heels," a source close to the pop star, 26, tells PEOPLE in its new cover story. "She's telling friends, 'I'm in love.' "
Indeed, Simpson, in New York City to promote her album, A Public Affair, and attend the MTV VMAs, showed her support Wednesday night when she and dad Joe slipped into Mayer's concert in Wantagh, NY, about halfway through his set. They nabbed seats with the sound crew and watched from stage left as Mayer sang his Grammy-winning hit "Daughters."
But he didn't fail to notice that his biggest fan was on hand. Ending his 75-minute performance with the single "Gravity," Mayer "turned to Jessica in the middle of (the song)," says an onlooker, "and smiled and sang to her."
Even her dad, Joe, is a fan of her new beau. "I love John Mayer," he told PEOPLE Tuesday at the New York City release party for Simpson's new album. "I love his music. I love his talent. The last time he was at the House of Blues in L.A., I went by myself to see him play."
The most important thing to Joe? "If my daughter's happy, then I'm happy," he says. "And if she finds love, then I'm in love with the fact that she finds happiness. It's been a tough year for her. A lot of disappointment. And my greatest joy as a father is to see my baby be happy."
Simpson and Mayer, 28, first met when Simpson was still married to Nick Lachey, 32. After her November 2005 separation, they bumped into each other again in June at the New York City nightclub Double Seven, where a source tells PEOPLE Simpson was "flirting up a storm" with both Mayer and actor Jared Leto.
Eventually Mayer, who's currently touring with Sheryl Crow, passed the ultimate test: He babysat Simpson's maltipoo, Daisy. "If you're in with Daisy," a Simpson pal tells PEOPLE, "you're in with her!"
this shit is just way too funny.

REALLY ENJOYING THIS SONG.
POSTED BY JOHN MAYER AT 10:33 AM FROM NEW YORK, NY
I'll edit with an actual screenshot once his website begins to work again.
Perhaps he is addressing the rumors.
Angelina Jolie and the kids made a rare public appearance today as they were spotted enjoying an outing to a photography shop in New Orleans.
Angie is in the city lending her support to the victims of Katrina....or could she be looking for a gift for beau Brad Pitt?

Chestica Simpson pulled out the winning key at The Style Villa at The Bryant Park Hotel in NYC today. Ches won a brand new Chrysler Crossfire roadster.
WTF does she need a free car for? Does this make any sense? They are giving expensive crap to whores who could buy it themselves. I hope she crashes. Just kidding!

AOL Music has confirmed that former JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell has unearthed a lost track featuring the vocals of THE DOORS' Jim Morrison and will be releasing the song, "Woman in the Window", on his SATELLITE PARTY project, due early next year.
According to AOL Music, Farrell composed the music to complement a tape of Morrison reading one of his original poems. After a very brief musical intro, Morrison's vocals begin: "I am the woman in the window." The song is a potent reminder of how beautiful Morrison's voice could be as his sing-song vocals, reminiscent of "Love Street", are delivered against a musical backdrop Farrell describes as "a little down-tempo, a little chill."
Farrell says the refrain of the song, which finds Morrison singing, "Just try and stop us, we're going to love," is the mantra of the Solutionists, the heroes of his conceptual SATELLITE PARTY project. While the song features poetic imagery, Farrell says he adapted the vocals to fit the music. "I want this to be on the radio," he says.
eh,when will people stop
The Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Carolyn Kepcher, who sat by while her boss Donald Trump dismissed one would-be apprentice after another, has now felt the full force of his iconic phrase: "You're fired."
Kepcher, a co-star with Trump from the start of "The Apprentice" in 2004 and a long-time employee of the Trump Organization, has been let go.
"Mr. Trump wishes her the best," said Trump spokesman Jim Dowd, who confirmed she is no longer with the company. She had been chief operating officer of two of Trump's golf courses.
Her leave-taking will have no impact on the upcoming sixth season of "The Apprentice," originating for the first time from Los Angeles. Though production is completed, she was not part of the cast.
Kepcher's dismissal was first reported in Thursday's New York Post.
The slender, striking blonde had become familiar to viewers as one of Trump's two sidekicks on the NBC series. She was an adviser to one of the rival teams and was often seated beside Trump for boardroom sessions where one or more competitors would hear Trump declare, "You're fired."
The Post story attributed Kepcher's firing to excessive self-promotion as a star at the expense of her performance at her day job, an account echoed for The Associated Press by a person close to the situation. The person insisted on anonymity because it was a personnel matter.
Kepcher could not be immediately located for comment.
Since TV fame beckoned, Kepcher has been active with speaking engagements, made a number of talk-show appearances and two years ago wrote a book, "Carolyn 101," which promised to reveal the secrets of her success and give readers guidance for their professional lives.

Outshining MTV: How Video Killed the Video Star
By KELEFA SANNEH
Published: August 31, 2006
The nominees for video of the year at tonight’s MTV Video Awards include, from left, Shakira, Christina Aguilera and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
MTV outgrew music videos long ago. The network has stayed successful by showing reality dramas, celebrity specials and dating competitions. And so every year, MTV’s Video Music Awards seem slightly out of place. The network spends a night lavishly (and perhaps guiltily) paying tribute to music videos; it’s the 1980’s all over again. Then, reruns notwithstanding, it’s back to business as usual for another 364 days.
But while viewers used to complain about the dearth of music videos on MTV, that complaint itself now seems old-fashioned. Anyone who cares about music videos can find them elsewhere, sometimes courtesy of MTV itself. (The network unveiled a video-heavy site, mtv.com/overdrive, last year.) Tonight’s awards ceremony, to be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall, is the first since the introduction of the video iPod last year. And it’s the first since the rise of YouTube.com, the most efficient video-sharing site yet. If MTV no longer plays music videos all day long, who cares?

According to E! News Live, Mariah will be attending and walking the red carpet at New York City's Radio City Music Hall for the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards tonight. The E! correspondent interviewed a jeweler who custom-made a butterfly broach for Mariah to wear to the event.
"I actually have a custom-made piece I made specifically for Miss Mariah Carey. It's a studded gold Butterfly broach that she will be wearing at the awards show. It's priced at over $40,000." [Then they featured the real price of it at $44,000] He then said, "But, obviously money is no object to her."
The awards show will air live from Radio City Music Hall tonight, August 31st at 8pm (ET/PT) on MTV.

Pop star PRINCE took a humourous swipe at JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE while performing at an Emmy Awards after party on Sunday night (27AUG06) in Hollywood.
The 48-year-old PURPLE RAIN star took the stage at West Hollywood's Sky Bar to entertain the crowd at the ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT party.
Timberlake boasts in his new hit single "he's bringing sexy back", but Prince begs to differ.
He yelled to the massive crowd, "For whoever is claiming that they are bringing sexy back, sexy never left!"
FEDERLINE LANDED TV ROLE FROM BAD PERFORMANCE
BRITNEY SPEARS' husband KEVIN FEDERLINE was devastated by the poor reviews he received for his rap performance at the Teen Choice Awards, but the gig ended up landing him a role on the hit show CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION.
Federline reportedly put on a brave face after the scathing reviews came in after his 20 August (06) performance, but friends say the rapper was hit hard by the criticism.
A source tells American publication Us Weekly, "He was actually crying."
The next day at the couple's Malibu, California home the source says Britney "also cried for him...She didn't leave him alone all day."
There was one good thing to come out of the debacle - CSI writer DUSTIN ABRAHAM saw the show and loved Federline's performance, which inspired him to write a character for Federline into the show.
The former back-up dancer will guest star in October (06) as the leader of a violent gang.
Abraham explains, "He has this cockiness and confidence that I like. But I told him...he needs to be the guy that you hate. It's the perfect role."
Federline has already finished shooting his spot and Abraham says, "There wasn't a lot of acting - more beating (people up). I thought he was awesome!"
The MATERIAL GIRLS star, 19, is confused by young actresses who go under the knife in search of physical perfection, but she can fully understand why older leading ladies combat the passing of time with surgery.
She says, "I don't have anything against people who have surgery. If I get older and feel uncomfortable about something then maybe (I will have it). I never say never.
"Some things are hard to deal with for a woman as you grow older. I think everyone should be able to feel good about themselves.
"I don't like it when it's really obvious and gets pointed out. Some people go overboard."
On a side note, JC and Justin are going to perform tonight at Roseland Ballroom in NYC new song from JC's album!
Are these photos proof of Harry Morton set to make the biggest mistake of his life? The 25-year old billionaire was spotted at Cartier today allegedly purchasing an engagement ring. Is he gonna make a decent woman of Lindsay Lohan yet? Stay tuned....

Apparently, Avril Lavigne is working on her next album. The rumor is that Ben Moody is working with her once again. Avril is also in a movie named Fast Food Nation (it's now being shown in Hong Kong). Ever heard of it? Yeah, me neither.

More4, Channel4's highbrow digital channel, wandered into a flurry of controversy today as it announced details of its upcoming assassination of George Bush.
The President will be fatally shot by a sniper in October 2007, the station revealed today. More4 will broadcast the killing this October.
The assassination - due to take place as President Bush leaves a building in Chicago, where he will have been giving a speech to business leaders - will be shown in a fictional documentary called Death Of A President, which looks back at the future shooting.
Already, it has drawn the ire of a group called Republicans Abroad in London, whose spokesman criticised the drama, calling it 'ABSOLUTELY NOT FUNNY'.
'IT'S FAR BEYOND ANY SENSE OF COMEDY THAT ANY NORMAL PERSON WOULD HAVE', said Eric Staal, talking about the serious drama which isn't a comedy. [lol] The channel has described it as 'a thought-provoking critique of the contemporary U.S. political landscape.'
Peter Dale, the head of More4, said: 'I'm sure there will be people who are upset by it. But when you watch it, you realise what a sophisticated piece of work it is.'
The drama will look at how the war on terror and the occupation of Iraq has affected politics in the U.S., and examine the views of the pro- and anti-war lobbies.
This is a new Amerie song. Don't know whether it's from her next album, but the song is great.
Because his fans are so concerned with his personal life, they get bored with his movies. And inversly, his movies suck so bad, his "fans" are forced to care about the only interesting thing he's done in years: get married and have a baby.
"Nowadays ... people pay attention more and more to actors' private lives or personal lives or even the most mundane aspects of their every day lives in a kind of parallel track alongside their movies," said popular tabloid target Affleck.
"Even the movies sometimes become incidental pit stops or commercial breaks in the soap opera of their life. I think that is bad for the actors, definitely, because it makes it difficult to suspend disbelief when you go and see their movie."
Well, maybe Ben Affleck and Jennifer Aniston should learn how to be better actors.
Because somehow Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, and (dare we say?) Lindsay Lohan manage to engage our belief when we see their movies.

Some fans send flowers and some letters, but the gift sent by the Sultan of Brunei's son to songbird Mariah Carey is sure to top her list of fans for a very long time to come, for he sent her 3 million pounds worth of diamonds.
24-year old Prince Azim, who is third in line to the Sultanate, showed just what a huge fan of the singer he really is when he gifted her an eight-carat flawless diamond and platinum necklace and matching ring, reports the Mirror.
And, the gift was delivered by private jet to the 'Emancipation of Mimi' singer just before she performed live in front of 20,000 fans at New York's Madison Square Garden recently.
"We were sent by private jet to deliver this gift," a representative said.
The gift certainly seemed to have the desired effect, for fans and guest performers both left the concert raving about the singer and her voice. (ANI)
