BLONDE bombshell Sophie Monk has landed her first leading role in a Hollywood film just six weeks after her major movie debut saw her take Tinstletown by storm.Confidential can reveal that the former Bardot singer has been offered the lead role in dark comedy Sex and Death 101, to be directed by Daniel Waters, who has previously made his name writing the screenplays for cult favourite Heathers and action-fest Batman Returns.
Contracts are yet to be signed but it's understood Monk intends to take on the part, with filming to begin in May.
The 26-year-old glamour was in Sydney yesterday, looking a candidate to front any new Pepsi Max campaign as she sipped away during lunch at Sienna Marina cafe Woolloomooloo.
She's expected to head to Queensland to holiday with her family but while she's in the country will also do early publicity for comedy Click, in which she has a role alongside walking gag-a-thon Adam Sandler.
It's been a whirlwind past two months for the reality television graduate since she was thrust into the spotlight thanks to her appearance in spoof Date Movie.
The flick was a surprise hit at the US box office and Monk has been just as much of a raging success on billboards in the saucy Paris Hilton get-up she dons in taking off the airhead heiress' burger advertisement.

Becoming Jane Synopsis :: Jane Austen has a romance when she was about the age of 20 with a young Irishman named Tom Lefroy. His family disapproved of the match because Austen had little money and Tom was the oldest in the family and had quite a few people to support, so he needed to marry into money. So his family sent him away when it looked like things were getting serious between the two of them. A few years later she wrote the first draft of what turned out to be Pride and Prejudice--it's believed she loosely based Elizabeth and Darcy on herself and Tom, but made Darcy rich enough that he could marry who he chose.

A stuntman who alleges that negligence caused him to be severely burned in an explosion on the set of Mission: Impossible III has filed a lawsuit against Tom Cruise's production company, and others who allegedly were responsible for the incident.
Steven Scott Wheatley says in a Los Angeles court lawsuit that he suffered third-degree burns over more than 60 percent of his body when a Chevrolet Suburban that was "rigged with pyrotechnical material" accidentally exploded and engulfed him in a fireball on June 6 last year.
Mission: Impossible III, starring Tom Cruise, will be released in US theatres in May.
Wheatley is seeking unspecified damages for negligence, pain and suffering, lost earnings and medical expenses. His wife is also seeking damages.
Paramount's Nancy Kirkpatrick said she couldn't comment on pending litigation.
The lawsuit names as defendants Viacom, the parent company of Paramount Pictures; the owners and mangers of the Agua Dulce Movie Ranch; Cruise/Wagner Productions, the production company owned by Cruise and Paula Wagner; and various people on the set that day.

GEORGE Clooney has a plan to destroy the Gawker stalker Web site. While some power publicists propose new laws to protect their pampered clients, Clooney says there's an easier way to deal with instantly posted sightings of celebrities, which provide their whereabouts to potential stalkers - flood Gawker with lies. "There is a simple way to render these guys useless," Clooney advised in an e-mail his publicist sent out to various other show-business publicists. "Flood their Web site with bogus sightings. Get your clients to get 10 friends to text in fake sightings of any number of stars. A couple hundred conflicting sightings and this Web site is worthless. No need to try to create new laws to restrict free speech. Just make them useless. That's the fun of it. And then sit back and enjoy the ride. Thanks, George." Considering the proliferation of sightings on Gawker.com yesterday, we think his devil's work is already in progress.

March 31, 2006 -- CHRISTIAN Slater, 36, isn't lonely in London, where he's starring in a revival of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." The actor has been spending lots of time with Jasmine Lennard, 20, star of the British reality TV show "Make Me a Supermodel." The pair met a few weeks ago, and she was Slater's date at the play's opening night this week, London's Daily Mirror reports. Slater is separated from his wife, Ryan Haddon. Lennard's profile on her TV show's Web site says she hates "cheating men." She's not old enough to remember the August 2003 story of how Haddon went ballistic after a wild night of partying because Slater was getting his back shaved by a stripper.

Smiling for the cameras, Naomi Campbell glided along a sidewalk shortly after allegedly bashing a crystal-encrusted BlackBerry against the head of her housekeeper.
"You f------ b----!" the cantankerous catwalker shrieked yesterday inside her Park Ave. penthouse apartment, accusing her maid, Ana Scolavino, of stealing a pair of $200 Chip & Pepper jeans, sources said.
Raging, Campbell cracked the BlackBerry against her housekeeper's head at 8 a.m. - and then demanded her staff tell cops the 42-year-old maid had hurt herself falling, sources said.
But the sinewy supermodel's servant alerted officials at Lenox Hill Hospital, and soon cops arrived at Campbell's $3.5 million apartment to haul her away.
Campbell, 35, insisted she had no idea what cops were talking about and showed them a flip-phone, not the BlackBerry, as supposed proof, sources said.
But the cops cuffed her - disappointing an Oprah Winfrey camera crew waiting to film her for a cooking segment.
Ever the diva, Campbell hid the handcuffs under a white fur poncho. Sources said she also asked to ride in her own car to the police stationhouse and then paused as her minions begged cops to let them fix her bangs before she was escorted outside. The requests were denied.
"\[She\] told her people to lie, to say the maid tripped and hit her head," a police source said. "Her staff is afraid of her - afraid she'll go off on them and they'll lose her paycheck."
Campbell - who has a history of allegedly beating and head-butting her help - was questioned for hours at the Manhattan North Precinct stationhouse.
Flanked by cops, she emerged at 4 p.m. in the same flowing poncho, black suede boots, dark sunglasses and baseball cap.
The perp-walk-turned-runway-shoot was captured by more than 100 photographers who had gathered to see the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.
A source said the BlackBerry used in the attack was encased in a Swarovski crystal holder that featured several baubles. The BlackBerry was not recovered.
Campbell called the allegation that she attacked her housekeeper "completely untrue." "She is sadly mistaken if she thinks she can extract money from me by concocting lies by recycling old stories," the supermodel said in a statement. "I have asked my lawyer to look into filing both theft and extortion charges against her."
Campbell said she had questioned the housekeeper about missing items and fired her "for that and her erratic behavior."
Campbell was charged with assault and could face up to seven years in prison if convicted. During a brief court appearance last night, a judge denied the prosecution's request for $3,500 bail.
Judge Richard Weinberg issued an order of protection against Campbell and released her on her own recognizance. He also allowed her to keep her passport so she could leave today on a scheduled charity trip to South Africa with Nelson Mandela.
"Surrendering her passport would not only be unfair to her but unfair to the children of South Africa," her lawyer, David Breitbart, said.
Scolavino, of Brooklyn, got four stitches to close a gash on her head. Meanwhile, Campbell's ex-assistant, Amie Castaldo, 33, scoffed at the model's denials - saying she was attacked by Campbell in 2004. "She abuses people," Castaldo said. "Somebody has to stop her."
Campbell faces up to seven years of jail time for second degree assault.

Aintitcoolnews.com broke the story this morning. It seems that 20th Century Fox slipped the teaser trailer before Ice Age 2 (which I would never go pay money to see). So quiet about it.
After the Audience sits through the trailer for 'Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties' (Wasn't that an old WB cartoon with Tweety?), they will be treated to a camera roving over the ol' 'S' shield, before zooming out, showing Homer sitting on the couch, watching TV, wearing the 'Supes' shirt.
So far, the film is just called 'Simpsons: The Movie,' and has a planned release date of July 27, 2007.

NEW YORK - The marriage of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and his model-turned-entrepreneur wife, Kimora Lee, has come to an end.
In a statement provided to The Associated Press on Friday, Simmons announced the pair had decided to break up after seven years of marriage. Rumors had swirled for the past week that a split was imminent. The couple have two young daughters.
"Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other," Simmons said. "We will also continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses."
Simmons is head of Rush Communications, but is perhaps better known as the co-founder of Def Jam Records and for his Phat Farm clothing line. In recent years, he has become more involved in politics, and helped to create the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.
Over the years, Kimora Lee Simmons has become almost as famous as her husband, thanks to her successful Baby Phat clothing line and her glamorous diva persona, which has been documented in numerous magazine spreads.
Although the pair have appeared at public events together in recent weeks, the statement said they had been separated for "some time," even though they were still living together.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Peter Dinklage is set to play the villainous Simon Bar Sinister in "Underdog," Walt Disney Pictures' live-action adaptation of the 1960s cartoon.

Dinklage, whose credits include "The Station Agent" and "Elf," is the first actor to sign on. Frederik Du Chau ("Racing Stripes") is directing.
Shooting is scheduled to begin April 10 in Rhode Island.

A six-day celebration of hip-hop culture will be held in October along with VH1’s third annual “Hip-Hop Honors” show, network and city officials announced Thursday.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg — or “Mike B,” as he called himself for the day — announced the festivities while flanked by hip-hop entrepreneur Russell Simmons and Ice-T.
Bloomberg said it’s important for the city to honor musical traditions.
“That means celebrating an art form that has expressed the realities of city life,” Bloomberg said after welcoming visitors to his “crib,” City Hall. “As hip-hop has evolved and new artists have emerged, its lessons have continued to be valuable for us.”
The events and promotions Oct. 12-17 will include hip-hop artists visiting city schoolchildren, performances at clubs throughout the city, and fashion- and sports-related events.
The show itself will be taped Oct. 7 and broadcast Oct. 17. This year’s honorees include Simmons, MC Lyte, the Beastie Boys, the Wu-Tang Clan, Afrika Bambaataa, Rakim and Easy-E.
Ice-T, a rapper who plays a detective on TV’s “Law & Order: SVU,” will host the show.
In their comments, Ice-T and Simmons stressed the educational value of hip-hop and said its artists often spoke the truth, even if it wasn’t pretty.

NATALIA VODIANOVA gave birth to a 7lb baby girl at the weekend. The Russian supermodel, who married her British husband Justin Portman in 2002 and has a two-year-old son, Lucas, announced earlier this month that she planned to call her new baby Neva, after the river that runs through St Petersburg. "She is a beauty, a charming blonde doll," said Vodianova, who had the baby in the Portland Hospital. "She's a good weight and a whole centimeter longer than Lucas, who's pretty tall. So I can only imagine how tall Neva is going to be." Natalia, who is now resting in order to get back in shape in time for her next Calvin Klein shoot on April 13, was presented with a platinum and diamond ring to celebrate the birth by her husband, who apparently gave Niva a pair of gold pointe shoes in the hope that she will one day become a ballerina.

Alias actor Kevin Weisman and his wife, Jodi, welcomed their first child on Friday, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
The baby girl, Maya Rose, was born at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at 1:57 a.m. She weighed in at 7 lbs., 1 oz.
"Jodi was a trooper! Maya is beautiful. Best moment of my life," the actor said in a statement to PEOPLE.
Kevin, 35, and Jodi, 25, a preschool teacher, married last May in a traditional Jewish service.
"It was unbelievably beautiful," Kevin told PEOPLE of the Atherton, Calif., ceremony.
The groom, who plays tech whiz Marshall Flinkman on the ABC drama starring Jennifer Garner, played drums with his band, Trainwreck, during the reception.
"All ages were on the dance floor," he told PEOPLE. "My bride rocked out!"

I don't know why it annoyed me so much. I seriously doubt they would accuse a man of behaving this way.
During the VIP reception, Three 6 will be honored with presentations by their hometown of Memphis, the Beale Street Brass Note Committee, and the Rock 'n' Soul Museum.
The sponsors of the event include the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), Pinnacle Airlines, Memphis & Shelby County Music Commission, the Memphis Music Foundation, Rum Boogie Café, and the Memphis & Shelby County Film and TV Commission.
The presentation is only the second "Memphis Music Salute" hosted by the Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum, whose mission is "to preserve and tell the story of Memphis music and perpetuate its legacy." The first Memphis musical act to receive the honor was the legendary Bar-Kays, a group that includes producer Jazze Pha's father as its bassist.

NEW YORK — It sounds like "Temptation Island" for the Catholic Church. But the controversy surrounding the new reality show "God or the Girl" may wind up being only over its title.
Premiering Easter Sunday (April 16) on A&E, the five-part series about four young men trying to decide whether to enter the Catholic priesthood has, not surprisingly, raised eyebrows because of what it appears to be on the surface: an exploitative program that tries to lead aspiring priests astray by tempting them with attractive women.
The way "God or the Girl" is executed is as a serious documentary about the difficult journey involved in choosing a life devoted entirely to God — but with a reality-show feel to it to keep it interesting. (The cable channel has made the first four episodes available to the media for advance viewing.)
"God or the Girl" follows 28-year-old Joe Adair of Cleveland, Ohio; 21-year-old Dan DeMatte of Columbus, Ohio; 25-year-old Steve Horvath of Lincoln, Neb.; and 24-year-old Mike Lechniak of Scranton, Pa., through the process of trying to figure out whether God is calling them to become priests.
All grapple with the sacrifices they'd have to make should they enter the priesthood, including the vow of celibacy the church requires priests to take.
And all of them do unusual things, often at the suggestion of their spiritual mentors, that they hope will guide them toward the right path.
Adair goes on a pilgrimage with no money or food, relying completely on the kindness of strangers to help him get to his destination — a religious center in Niagara Falls. DeMatte builds an 80-pound cross and carries it 22 miles. Horvath travels to a mission in Guatemala to work with people living in extreme poverty. Lechniak goes on a retreat and stays with nuns.
Each of the men also has a woman in his life ("the girl") who factors into his decision.
Adair met someone special in Germany and goes there to see if there's anything to build on. DeMatte stopped all contact with his girlfriend for six months while he pondered his calling, but then is reunited with her to determine whether she is part of his future. Horvath was dating a girl he wanted to marry before he felt pulled in the direction of the priesthood. And Lechniak is in a serious relationship with the woman he considers his soul mate while he tries to figure out his destiny.

According to Lukas Haas, who appears in the as-of-yet unreleased Duff film "Material Girls," the film has been looking for a distributor but has not been successful.
Haas, who plays Henry in the movie, said he doesn't expect the movie to ever be released.
"Material Girls" is the first on-screen collaboration between Hilary and her sister, Haylie.
The Duffs play two wealthy sisters, both heiresses to their family's cosmetics fortune, who lose the money and then fight to get it back.
Hilary recorded a cover of Madonna's "Material Girl" for the movie with Lil' Jon providing the beats. Like the movie, the song may also never be released.
Material Girls began shooting last April. Hilary's next film is the cartoon "Foodfight," which also features her sister Haylie. "Foodfight" is set for release in March 2007.
