American journalists can be such pussies at times!

Thankfully, European journos feel freer to ask the tough questions, about sex, drugs, sexuality, you name it.

In this much-watch clip a reporter for MTV Netherlands not only calls Missy Elliott out on her rude behavior - (she showed up 8 hours late to their scheduled interview) - but the Dutch hottie flat-out asks Elliot if she is a dyke.

Interview Pitts Douglas vs. Brangelina

Well, well, Michael Douglas certainly has some opinions about celebrity romances.

"I don't know about Brad Pitt," says Douglas, "leaving that beautiful woman [Jennifer Aniston] to go hold orphans for Angelina [Jolie]. I mean how long is that going to last?"

It's an odd comment, coming from someone who himself is a "Messenger of Peace" for the United Nations. Pitt's rep declined to fire back, but let's hope that UN goodwill ambassador Jolie shows him some diplomatic immunity.

Brad and Angelina aren't the only couple Douglas evaluates in the new issue of GQ.

Aretha's proud to be a big woman

When she sang about Respect for the first time in 1967, Aretha Franklin was a svelte brunette. Forty years on, she is almost unrecognisable.

In a blonde wig, spilling out of a low-cut gown, a much larger Queen of Soul appeared at a gala dinner in Washington on Friday.

And Miss Franklin couldn't be happier. For the first time, she says, the real Aretha is on stage - a 'big woman' who loves her food.

The 63-year-old has revealed she spent decades starving herself to stay slim.

'For a long time I suffered so much trying to be what other people expected me to be and look like,' she told the Canyon News website.

'I definitely was never meant to be a model-type walking down a runway - I'm just Aretha singing what she feels in her heart and soul. So far, people seem to understand...'

The audience at the National Association of Black-Owned Broadcasters gala dinner certainly seemed satisfied, giving the mother of four a standing ovation.

Amabassador Blasts Bruce Willis' Comments.

Image hosting by TinyPic

Colombia's ambassador to the United States is criticizing Bruce Willis for comments he made during a press conference to promote his new film, ``16 Blocks.''

The actor said the United States should consider ``going to Colombia and doing whatever it takes to end the cocaine trade.''

In a harshly worded letter made public, Andres Pastrana told the actor that the source of the lucrative cocaine trade was an ``enormous appetite for drugs, in particular in the United States and Europe.''

Pastrana, who as president in 2000 launched an anti-drug effort with billions in aid from the United States, added that no country has sacrificed more than his own to rein in drug trafficking. Every year, he said, thousands of innocent civilians are killed as a result of anti-drug efforts.

Inviting Willis to visit Colombia, Pastrana said ``if you accept, you will see that, beyond Hollywood cliches, 44 million Colombians are waging a real war against drugs.''

President Alvaro Uribe called the actor arrogant and ignorant last week, saying his comments were ``a shock to Colombia's dignity.''

The Clipse thank the Lord for mixtapes. Recording their We Got It for Cheap street CD series with the Re-Up Gang has not only been therapeutic but a great means of making a living while they've stewed in record-contract purgatory. Pusha T and Malice are making the most of that "For Promotional Use Only" disclaimer.

The Virginia Beach-bred brothers have booked shows on the strength of their street releases. They recently hit New York's Knitting Factory for a performance where just about every audience member knew all the words to their underground records.

The Clipse's strong following helped them make the decision to settle their differences with Jive Records. They have agreed to put out the long-awaited Hell Hath No Fury, due late this summer.

"It's time to put that album out now," Malice said while he and his younger brother Pusha T were in New York. "Hip-hop is dying right now. It's not exciting anymore. No one's really talking about anything that makes any sense. It's just one big circus right now."

After years of legal battles with Jive Records, the brothers are content with their label situation. The Clipse say Pharrell Williams and Star Trak offered Jive the world (including free Neptunes beats) in exchange for the Clipse's release from their contract. But the label wouldn't budge. Once the Clipse started making a buzz with the Re-Up Gang, Jive held them even tighter. Eventually Jive had to come up with some more dough for the group as well as offer the Clipse their own imprint, Re-Up Gang Records. (Subsequently, the Clipse are no longer with Star Trak, but remain very cool with the Neptunes).

During their hiatus, the Clipse say that they had a chance to analyze the rap game and found out that they really didn't like any label better than Jive, so they decided to stay. "Its not just Jive," Pusha T explained. "I can look at few of my peers that I think are nice and have good music, and the ball gets fumbled all the time."

The Clipse describe the feel of Hell Hath as pure throwback. "Fly East Coast dope-dealer music," Pusha elaborated. "Only thing we're missing is four-finger rings and gold ropes.

"It's better than anything and anybody ever," he continued with a grin. "We only took the greatest and most unorthodox production. We weren't playing with Pharrell. We were harder on the Neptunes than anybody has ever been. No album fillers. It's very street, very dark, mean."

Hell Hath's first single is called "Me Too," and it's being mixed right now. It should show up on mixtapes and in mix shows within the next couple of weeks.

"It's the total disruption of radio," Pusha boasted. "There's nothing on radio that will even be close to it. It just addresses Mr. Me Toos. Mr. Me Too is the person that sits there and examines your style and takes a piece of it. It addresses the competitive dude on the street who, when you get this or that they're like, 'Me too.' Pusha said the track also touches on some of what they went through with their label. "Briefly," he explained, " 'cause we don't dwell."

The Go-Gos = Filthy Girls.

In response to the recent post regarding Belinda Carlisle of Go-Gos fame fingering wanting Jessica Alba to play her in a biopic.

I'll not debate whether or not Alba should win the role. I think she's pretty meh as an actress, altho I do think she's a lovely girl. But hey, talent is something you CAN gain and learn, so who knows? She may surprise us all.

What I did want to point out is that, contrary to popular belief, the idea of a Go-Gos biopic is BRILLIANT and DIRTY and AWESOME. Never a fan of their music, I happened to run across some faaaaaaantastic (and filthy) quotes from the band members in the book Rock Confidential: A Backstage Pass to the Outrageous World of Rock 'n' Roll by Coral Amende (2000).

Oscar-winner Maureen Stapleton passes away at 80.

Character actress won Academy Award for supporting work in ‘Reds’.

Image hosting by TinyPic

Maureen Stapleton, the Oscar-winning character actress whose subtle vulnerability and down-to-earth toughness earned her dramatic and comedic roles on stage, screen, and television, died Monday. She was 80.

Stapleton, a longtime smoker who had been living in Lenox, died from chronic pulmonary disease, said her son, Daniel Allentuck.

Stapleton, whose unremarkable, matronly appearance belied her star personality and talent, won an Academy Award in 1981 for her supporting role as anarchist-writer Emma Goldman in Warren Beatty’s “Reds,” about a left-wing American journalist who journeys to Russia to cover the Bolshevik Revolution.

To prepare for the role, Stapleton said she tried reading Goldman’s autobiography, but soon chucked it out of boredom.

“There are many roads to good acting,” Stapleton, known for her straightforwardness, said in her 1995 autobiography, “Hell of a Life.” “I’ve been asked repeatedly what the ’key’ to acting is, and as far as I’m concerned, the main thing is to keep the audience awake.”

Stapleton was nominated several times for a supporting actress Oscar, including for her first film role in 1958’s “Lonelyhearts”; “Airport” in 1970; and Woody Allen’s “Interiors” in 1978.

Her other film credits include the 1963 musical “Bye Bye Birdie” opposite Ann-Margret and Dick Van Dyke, “Johnny Dangerously,” “Cocoon,” “The Money Pit” and “Addicted to Love.”

In television, she earned an Emmy for “Among the Paths to Eden” in 1967. She was nominated for “Queen of the Stardust Ballroom” in 1975; “The Gathering” in 1977; and “Miss Rose White” in 1992.

Brought up in a strict Irish Catholic family with an alcoholic father, Stapleton left home in Troy, N.Y., right after high school. With $100 to her name, she came to New York and began studying at the Herbert Berghof Acting School and later at the Actor’s Studio, which turned out the likes of Marlon Brando, Paul Newman and Julia Roberts.

Stapleton soon made her Broadway debut in Burgess Meredith’s 1946 production of “The Playboy of the Western World.”

At age 24, she became a success as Serafina Delle Rose in Tennessee Williams’ Broadway hit “The Rose Tattoo,” and won a Tony Award. She appeared in numerous other stage productions, including Lillian Hellman’s “Toys in the Attic” and Neil Simon’s “The Gingerbread Lady,” for which she won her second Tony in 1971.

She starred opposite Laurence Olivier in Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.” Stapleton’s friendship with Williams was well-known and he wrote three plays for her, but she never appeared in any of them.

Along the way, she led a chaotic personal life, which her autobiography candidly described as including two failed marriages, numerous affairs, years of alcohol abuse and erratic parenting for her two children.

She often said auditioning was hard for her, but that it was just a part of acting, a job “that pays.”

“When I was first in New York there was a girl who wanted to play ‘St. Joan’ to the point where it was scary. ... I thought ‘Don’t ever want anything that bad,” she recalled. “Just take what you get and like it while you do it, and forget it.”

Cast throughout her career in supporting roles, Stapleton was content not playing a lead character, Allentuck said.

“I don’t think she ever had unrealistic aspirations about her career,” he said.

Beside Allentuck, Stapleton is survived by a daughter, Katharine Bambery, of Lenox and a brother, Jack Stapleton, of Troy, N.Y.

Diddy Cooking Up New Reality Show.

Sean "Diddy" Combs will be producing a new reality mini-series for NBC this April, and this time the action isn't in the studio-he will be in the kitchen.

Image hosting by TinyPic

According to the Daily Variety, Combs is teaming up with reality television producers Ben Silverman ( "Biggest Loster," "The Restaurant") and David A. Hurwitz ("Fear Factor") to create "Celebrity Cooking Showdown," a five-night reality miniseries that will pair professional chefs with celebrities for a three-course cook-off. Renowned chefs Wolfgang Puck, Cat Cora and Govind Armstrong have already signed on for the show.

"We've been desperate to do cooking in primetime," Silverman told Daily Variety. "And who's more primetime than Diddy?

"The sexiest trend going on right now is young men learning how to cook," Diddy added. "There's nothing more sensual than a man cooking for his woman. We wanted to do something that fit that trend in the marketplace."

"It gives the show an event status," said NBC's Craig Plestis. "It's must-see television when you have to be there for a week, with a lot of a noise, a lot of bang. And if it's successful, you can bring it back as a regular series."

The first three episodes of the series will feature each of the three chefs prepping their celebrity partner for competition. Then the celebrities will battle against each other in a timed competition to create a three-course meal. Judges will determine one celeb winner from each night, with the three finalists squaring off for a Thursday finale. The winner, determined by a mix of judges and viewer votes, will be revealed on Friday.

Silverman told Daily Variety that several celebrities were finalizing their deals for the show, but he held off on announcing any names at this point.

In addition to his successes in the music and fashion, Diddy has already successfully produced a number of cable television shows, HBO's "The Bad Boys of Comedy" and MTV's "Making the Band" and "Run's House."

Diddy also owns a restaurant Justin's, which has locations in New York and Atlanta.

In related news, Diddy is also getting back to his musical roots. Diddy is hard at work on his next studio set and is planning a future tour.

NBC's "Celebrity Cooking" will debut Monday, April 17.

Williams To Care For Reeve's Son

Oscar-winner Robin Williams insists he will take care of the orphaned son of Christopher and Dana Reeve, after the teenager's mother died of lung cancer last week.

Williams was always close to the 'Superman' star, who passed away in October 2004, as they had studied acting together at the Juilliard school of drama in New York City.

And after Reeve suffered the riding accident which left him paralyzed from the neck down in 1995, the Goodwill Hunting star was quick to assure the family he would never desert them - and he is standing by his vow to care for 13-year-old Will.

A relative of Dana's says, "He has already been making good on a promise he made to Chris in 1995."

"They were closer than brothers and Robin swore then and there that he would look after Dana and Will after Chris was gone."

"Both of them knew Chris might not last long but neither of them could possibly have imagined the tragedy that would befall Dana so soon after Chris's own death."

Fabolous vs. Ma$e

"I will cut you...and then I'll go to church."

So apparently Fabolous and Ma$e think they're big enough to talk shit. Every rapper thinks they're big enough to start a fight these days when, in reality, they are microscopic to classic hip-hop battles of the past (Tupac vs. Biggie, Jay-Z vs. Nas, Lil Kim vs. Foxy Brown).

To cut to the chase, Fabolous ("Holla Back", "Can't Deny It", "Can't Let You Go") is responding to a line Mase ("Feel So Good", "Breathe, Stretch, Shake") spit on a recent G-Unit mixtape which states, "I don't know why Loon and Fabby won't just say I'm they daddy" (from the song "I Don't Know, Officer"). He's giving in to the taunting, starting a fight.

Well, even wikipedia recognizes that Fabby-O has a similar flow to the good ol M-A-(dollar sign)-E...and Loon would have been nothing without Mase, given his involvement in Mase's long-gone rap group flop Harlem World. But let's not say we have a winner quite yet...Fabby-O makes a pretty good point on Mase had apparently approached Fab in Philadelphia and said that he appreciated him as an artist. After his diss, Fab responds...

"For you [Mase] to say that to me and the next time I hear you on record, [you're dissing me], I feel dude is confused. If you're not really a killer but you running with a bunch of dudes that say they're killers, I guess you're gonna talk like you a killer too, even if it's not believable. I think [Mase] got caught up in trying to act like the people he's around. 50 Cent and them is known for taking jabs and saying wild, reckless stuff. I guess he felt he had to jump in those shoes too. I just had to answer to it."

And Fabolous has a point too. Mase went from misogynistic, violent lyrics to preaching the gospel...then back to where he started. Does he even know who he is? Why'd he have to go and make things so complicated? The mystery of Mase remains...Man of God or Man of War?

Madonna Related To The British Royal Family ?

It has been revealed that Queen of pop Madonna is related to the future Queen, Camilla Parker Bowles.
While reconstructing her family tree Madge discovered that she and Prince Charles’ new wife are distant cousins.
Madge has now asked that Bowles join her to meet with genealogist William Addams Reitwiesner to jointly chart their ancestors.
Reitwiesner told the Daily Star: “Camilla and Madonna are both descended from Zacharie Cloutier who lived from 1617 to 1708.
But Camilla isn’t the only famous person to find they are related to the Queen of pop, Canadian singer Celine Dion is also from the same gene pool.
Reitwiesner continued: “And Camilla and Celine descend from Jean Guyon, who lived from 1619 to 1694.
“Both Jean and Zacharie died in Chateau-Richer, Quebec. Because of their unusual French-Canadian ancestry they are all blood relations. Madonna is absolutely fascinated by this.”
And so is Camilla by all accounts…a source told the Star: “Believe it or not Camilla is a huge Madonna fan, so she was thrilled when she got in touch and explained their ancestry.”
Could this be the start of a beautiful new relationship?

Ex-Game Show Host, Wife Die in Plane Crash

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - A former TV game show host and his wife were
killed Monday morning when their small plane crashed into Santa Monica
Bay, authorities said. Rescue crews were searching for a third person also
aboard the plane.

The bodies of Peter Tomarken, 63, host of the hit 1980s game show
"Press Your Luck," and his wife, Kathleen Abigail Tomarken, 41, were
identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

The plane was on its way to San Diego to ferry a medical patient to the
UCLA Medical Center, said Doug Griffith, a spokesman for Angel Flight
West, a nonprofit which provides free air transportation for needy

Griffith said the pilot was a volunteer for the group. According to the
FAA, the plane was registered to Tomarken and he was the pilot.

The plane apparently had engine trouble and was headed back to Santa
Monica Airport, located about two miles inland, but went down about 9:35
a.m. just off shore, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman
Allen Kenitzer.

Rescue boats and divers searching for the third person believed to be
aboard the plane were clustered about a half-mile southwest of the Santa
Monica Pier where the plane went down in about 19 feet of water.

Luis Garr said he didn't hear the engine but heard the splash as the
plane "kind of landed into the water."

"It's a big splash, a huge splash. ... Then it started going down,"
Garr said. "The wings were still floating so I was, `Get out! Get out!'
because the door was still available to get out and nobody came out. So
the plane kept going down, down, down."

Tomarken's death was first reported by "Entertainment Tonight."

"Press Your Luck" was known for contestants shouting the slogan "Big
bucks! No whammies!"

Tomarken's agent, Fred Wostbrock, said his client's first game show was
"Hit Man!," which ran 13 weeks on NBC, followed by the four-year hit
"Press Your Luck" on CBS. He also was on "Bargain Hunters," "Wipe-Out"
and "Paranoia."

"He was always a fun guy to be around, and he just loved the genre of
game shows," Wostbrock said.

I use to love that show! Big Bucks Big Bucks no Whammies!!!

Britney working with T-Pain

The Florida native - who's going on a House of Blues tour with Jive labelmate Chris Brown - says another labelmate, Britney Spears, has had her people holla at him for some tracks for her next album.

"I think they're just calling a bunch of producers and saying, 'Do something for Britney,'" he said. "I'm going to keep her sound poppy. I'm also supposed to do something for Nick Lachey. I think they want to take him closer towards R&B, somewhere along the lines of Justin Timberlake but a little different."

(no subject)

Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco has set a June 27 release date for his debut album, "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor," which will be issued by Atlantic and his production company 1st & 15th. The set is co-executive produced by Def Jam president Jay-Z and features production by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. Pharrell Williams and Kanye West are also expected to contribute.

Lupe, 24, a practicing Muslim, says the album's title represents the constant tug of war between good (food) and evil (liquor). "My mixtapes cover a lot of ground, and the album is based on that, but it's a little more in-depth and lyrical," the rapper tells "It's less of me trying to showcase my skills as an emcee and more about where I come from and really touching on issues I feel are valid."

The first single, "Kick, Push," is an ode to skating, but Lupe insists that his nerd image is not a gimmick. "It's not deliberate -- that's really me," he says. "If you look at what I do on a daily basis, you'd be like, 'Wow, he's a nerd.' About two or three years ago, my music was more street but it just played itself out. As you grow up, you start settling back to what you do normally so now the music I make is based on what I do on a regular basis."

When he was 19, Lupe's group Da Pak disbanded despite signing with Epic and releasing a first single. In 2002, he caught the interest of Jay-Z, who had hoped to ink the young rapper to his Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam imprint, but the deal later dissolved.

Lupe, along with Mike Jones and Lil Wayne, are now the latest rap artists (Jay-Z, Nelly, 50 Cent) to join Reebok's "I Am What I Am" campaign. The three have also partnered with Reebok to release the O.G. footwear collection.

A self-proclaimed sneaker buff, Lupe has already penetrated the design world, working closely with overseas designers like Edison Chen in Hong Kong and the London-based Maharishi. "Reebok gave me freedom and they gave me a chance to really do something big," says Lupe. "They look at me as a designer with links to streetwear and the sneaker world and they hope I can do some things to help in those areas. It's definitely a boost for more exposure because I have billboards all over Chicago and all over the nation."

Quentin Tarantino Gets Kinky
Los Angeles, California (BANG) - Quentin Tarantino was once begged by a fan to dress up as a French maid and indulge in an S and M fantasy.

The 'Pulp Fiction' director received the X-rated offer in a note and admits he was a little turned on by his illicit admirer.

He said: "I remember I was doing 'From Dusk Till Dawn' and I went into George Clooney's trailer and I said, 'You got to listen to this letter man!'

And I read the letter and he said, 'Oh my God!'

"It was this young black girl who was 17 and she had this whole S and M thing in her mind."

"She said, 'I want to dress you up as a French maid and then make you clean my apartment. I'm going to make you get down on the floor. I will be smoking cigarettes and putting them out on the carpet and making you get down on the floor and clean it up. And after you've done the carpet.' She went on and on."

Tarantino insists he wasn't at all concerned by the letter and was delighted a fan wanted to bed him - even if it was extreme.

He added to Britain's Loaded magazine: "When it finished I thought, 'Wow, that's kind of sexy. I don't really want to wear a French maid's outfit. But this 17-year-old has it going on'."

Master P and Silkk Plea No Contest to Weapons Charges

(Mar. 13, 2:10PM ET) -- TMZ was in an LA courtroom Monday morning when rap impresario Master P and his brother, rapper Silkk the Shocker, pleaded guilty to weapons charges stemming from their arrests last month for carrying unregistered guns. The two faced up to three years in state prison if convicted.

Master P (aka Percy Miller) was not present in court and had his lawyer do the talking for him. In exchange for his guilty plea, the felony weapons charge he faced was reduced to a misdemeanor, he was sentenced to one day in jail (which he won't have to serve because he has credit for time served), ordered to pay a fine of $720 and will have to serve 40 hours of community service either with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts or speaking to high school students about the danger of guns. The judge gave the 'Dancing With the Stars' contestant 90 days to complete these requirements.

His brother -- whose real name Vyshonn Miller -- was not so lucky. His charge was not reduced-- he pleaded guilty to the felony and was placed on three years felony probation. He was also ordered to pay the same fine as his brother and serve the same community service. One interesting side note, TMZ has learned the weapons were registered to the owner of the vehicle -- one of Vyshonn's friends -- a hearing will be set to decide what to do with the firearms.

update on the Nazi twins

The California twins whose pro-Nazi singing career has gotten international attention are now at the center of a bitter custody battle. INSIDE EDITION is with the father of the girls who has gone to court to try to get custody of his girls.

source: Inside

I hate to give them more publicity, but according to the show (which I just watched), the dad is going to court in Fresno to get custody of Lamb and Lynx Gaede, aka "Prussian Blue," to get them away from their neo-Nazi mom. The judge is ordering psychological evaluations of both parents and the twins. The dad apparently decided to go for custody after the twins' antics got splashed all over tv, starting with the segment on Primetime, and continuing with profiles in GQ and on various morning tv shows. The dad said he's not part of the Aryan Nation/neo-Nazi brotherhood and hopes to un-brainwash them, so maybe this is a good thing? Eh, who knows.

oh, and this is the snowman they made:

sweet kids, huh?

Clooney Faults Democrats on Iraq War

George Clooney has faulted Democrats for their timidity in the months before the start of the Iraq war,
saying many party leaders muted their criticism of the Bush administration rather than risk being branded as unpatriotic.

"The fear of (being) criticized can be paralyzing. Just look at the way so many Democrats caved in the run up to the war," Clooney said Monday in a profanity-laced posting on The Huffington Post blog site.

"In 2003, a lot of us were saying, `Where is the link between Saddam and bin Laden? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11?'" Clooney wrote. "We have to agree that it's not unpatriotic to hold our leaders accountable and to speak out."

Clooney's latest films, "Syriana," for which he won an Oscar for best supporting actor, and "Good Night, and Good Luck," which he starred in and directed, have been viewed as critiques of the state of U.S. policy domestically and overseas.

"Good Night, and Good Luck" focuses on CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow's battles with Sen. Joseph McCarthy during the communist witch hunt in the 1950s.

In the Web posting, Clooney, 44, said, "When you hear Murrow say, `We mustn't confuse dissent with disloyalty' ...
