The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
May 16
The bait: Pumped-up battle action. Added computer generated creatures. More human actors of legal age. A few extra teen girls may be tempted to go this time, just to watch tall, dark and armored newcomer Ben Barnes swing his sword as Caspian.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
May 22
The bait: A blend of old and new. We'll see new faces, namely Shia Lebouf as Indy's sidekick. But what has always lured audiences to an Indiana Jones film, star Harrison Ford says, "It is a pure entertainment. Unjustified. Unencumbered. We have a tradition of presenting ripping good yarns."
Sex and the City: The Movie
May 30
The bait: "The show was about the search for love. This film is more about what happens after you find it," says Michael Patrick King, the main creative force behind the series who wrote and directed the film.
The Dark Knight
July 18
The bait: Ledger. Before the actor died, director Christopher Nolan said he wanted Knight to be darker than his first installment and to make "The Joker" as iconic as Batman.
Mamma Mia!
July 18
The bait: "The music was always the star of the show," says Judy Craymer, creator of the Broadway musical and a producer of the film. "Now, we have a real star." That would be Meryl Streep, who gets a chance to flex her vocal cords as Donna.
X-Files
July 25
The bait: Mulder and Scully. X-fIles brings back David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as a believer-and-skeptic team, a couple that Carter says still resonates. "When we first got on set and I saw them together, I got chills," he says. "They've always had a chemistry that's rare in television. It was like having the familiy back together."
Quantum of Solace
November 7
The bait: This outing takes its cues from its predecessor by offering a vulnerable Bond. The emphasis is once again on grit, not gimmickry.
Star Trek
December 25
The bait: JJ Abrams. The creator of Lost and Cloverfield is one of the few filmmakers who can draw an audience with his name and unconventional take on conventional themes.
