CROCODILE Hunter Steve Irwin "spoke" to wife Terri and father Bob through controversial US medium John Edward, it is claimed.
Hours before the psychic performed for 4500 people at the Irwins' Australia Zoo Crocoseum , Mrs Irwin, 43, and Mr Irwin had private "readings" to contact the late wildlife champion.
Mrs Irwin confirmed she met Mr Edward, a long-time friend of her husband, in the hope of receiving a message from the man killed by a stingray's barb in 2006 at age 44.
Mr Irwin said his daughter-in-law was overjoyed by the outcome. He said both "had contact with Steve".
"There's no doubt that Steve was with us," Mr Irwin said. "It's not black and white, it's grey, but there was a definite, unmistakable Steve energy."
He said the details of the reading were private and would not say what message the medium delivered.
If the rest of the crowd at the public $90-a-head show were hoping to "see" Steve Irwin yesterday, they left disappointed. He did not make his presence felt and Edward did not address any Irwin family member during his two-hour show.
Mrs Irwin addressed the crowd, acknowledging many had hoped to hear from the Crocodile Hunter.
"If any of you are wondering why Steve didn't come through, it's because look around you, he's everywhere," Mrs Irwin said.
Mr Irwin said his son "would have been into this, definitely . . . but he never would have admitted it, mate".
Mrs Irwin and Steve's father planned to have a second private reading last night.
Mrs Irwin said last month she sensed Irwin was with her and had "great faith" his spirit was around.
"I know (Steve's) gone, but in some way he is still here. I feel him, I sense him," she said.
Mr Edward rose to stardom with his TV show Crossing Over and claims to use his abilities to connect people with dead loved ones.
