Giada De Laurentiis, the TV cooking star of the Food Network's "Everyday Italian" and "Giada's Weekend Getaways," said Monday that she is expecting a baby girl with her clothing-designer husband, Todd Thompson.
The 37-year-old chef and cookbook author made the announcement on NBC's "Today Show," where she serves as a contributing correspondent. The baby will be the couple's first child.
De Laurentiis' cookbooks include the New York Times best sellers "Everyday Italian," "Giada's Family Dinners" and "Everyday Pasta."
She is the granddaughter of Dino de Laurentiis and Silvana Mangano. Dino de Laurentiis has had a long film career, producing Federico Fellini classics such as "La Strada" and "Night of Cabiria" in the 1950s, and made the transition to Hollywood production with such films as "Serpico," "Three Days of the Condor," "Blue Velvet" and "Hannibal."
