She's a silver screen Hollywood star generating Oscar buzz with her latest performance in Atonement, but Keira Knightley's illustrious career had rather humble beginnings.
The now glamorous actress, who graces the current issue of Vogue magazine, was left blushing after watching a clip of her first ever television appearance.
The footage, which features a 7-year-old Knightley in a floppy green t-shirt and scraped back pony tail, is from the early nineties BBC production, Royal Celebration.
She was shown the clip during an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show.
She later said she avoids seeing herself on screen: "I don't like watching myself. It's weird, I get really embarrassed, I look funny.
"I just don't think it's very good most of the time, I can't watch without analysing it."
The 22-year-old also discussed the appeal of her latest project Atonement, which has already won praise from critics.
She said: "The script made me cry. We were trying to go for a 1940s style of acting which I really enjoy, the pinnacle of stiff upper lip, I tried to mimic Celia Johnson in Brief Encounter.
She concluded: "I needed to do something very different, it's very rewarding, if you feel drained you know you've done a good job."
