ABC president Craig Erwich says it’d be a “dream” for Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short to host the Oscars: “They’re an iconic trio. They have mass appeal. Everybody loves them. That said, there’s a lot of incredible talent we’re considering.“— Film Updates (@FilmUpdates) January 13, 2022
• Earlier this week it was announced that the Oscars would have a host for the first time in a few years. Various sites immediately reported that Pete Davidson was being considered for the gig, but those reports were shut down earlier today. Now a few days later the president of the ABC network has suggested that Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short host the show.
• The ABC president (who is also in charge of Hulu originals), called them an "iconic trio" and that the critical and commercial success of Only Murders in the Building showed that they have "mass appeal". Steve Martin has hosted the Oscar ceremony three times, most recently in 2010 when he co-hosted with Alec Baldwin.
• Season two of Only Murders is currently in production in New York.
