Raeden Greer Says She Was Fired from True Detective by Cary Fukunaga for Refusing to Appear Nude

Raeden Greer was cast in True Detective when she was 24 under the contractual clause that there would be no nudity involved.

After receiving the script and noticing that the role involved a bit of dancing, she wanted to make sure the role did not require her to be nude:

“So, I started asking after that, like, ‘To be clear, there’s no nudity involved in this role, right?’” Greer recalls. “I kept getting the answer from my agent and from casting—no, that would be absolutely unheard of if they asked you to do nudity after it wasn’t disclosed. There was no rider, there was no negotiating this into your contract, that would not happen, so stop asking about it because it’s making you look amateurish.’ So, I was like, ‘OK, I’m gonna quit worrying about it.’”

It’s truly been one of the worst years for ONTD boyfriends (I) love to see it 🙊)
I keep wishing we could have ontd girlfriends but I know I’m never gonna make fetch happen 😿
ONTD has the worst taste in men.

lol tbh this + the post about blumhouse’s costume halloween premiere filled only with “oh cute!!!!!!!” comments because they successfully buried their own sexual harassment PR nightmare thanks to the timing of lockdown and the BLM protests is just making me v v sour tonight about the hollywood horror genre & the mediocre men who keep getting passes lol

I usually love murder mysteries, but I never got into the first season of True Detective and this doesn't surprise me at all because it was very male centric
Same. People are always like, why don't you like breaking bad, mad Men, and most shows, and it's bc I give zero fucks about men.
I loved the "ambience", the cinematography and the soundtrack. But Rust was the epitome of "I'm 14 and this is deep" (men out there thinking they're ~so clever for relating to Rust lol).

And the treatment of the female characters is by far the worst I've seen in an HBO show. It felt like a show that belonged in the 60's. Women should not talk and only be seen. Masculinity is rewarded - a butt ugly, unhygienic 50 year old gets these beautiful young women because he's "badass". Women are just there to be something men feel bad about/lust towards.

Mad Men came years before, is very 'male' and yet somehow half the main cast is made of women who get to shine more than the men except Don Draper himself. Idk how True Detective isn't more criticized for how backwards it was when it came out.

Btw, if you want a show with the good parts of True Detective - murder mystery, ambience - but is actually well written and has female leads - try Sharp Objects!
This is why I’m just getting more and more against nudity and sex scenes in film. I’m sure this exact scenario has played out soooo many times and so many scenes we dont really realize we’re watching someone who was deeply uncomfortable/straight up coerced into performing sexually for our entertainment 😕 I wish she never would have had to make the choice but I’m glad she had the strength to stick to what she was comfortable with. Hopefully it made dumb ass Carey think for a fucking second about how actresses aren’t your little paper dolls to do what ever you see fit
I honestly hate nudity in movies. Idk maybe I'm prudish, but I've never felt it was super necessary. Like just use a blanket strategically or something. I'm not watching movies for porn! And if I'm watching with someone else, it's just super uncomfortable.
This is partially the reason I don't care about people whining about the lack of sexuality or chemistry in movies. Not all but a good chunk of it does require female nudity at some point and these situations arise.

Fuck all men seriously. Even the few I liked like Cary are the worst. The lengths they will go to and gaslight women to do things they arent comfortable with, fry em.
Oh no your fave's a slimeball!
All men are trash. *sob*
Good on her for exposing his bullshit.
that was a star-maker for him, and what happened to me? Nobody cares.

This is sadly so true, and so upsetting.
Ugh. I absolutely adore the 2011 Jane Eyre, so I hate to read this. But I probably loved that film more for the script than and Mia than anything.
