The Black Phone - Official Trailer

The phone is dead. And it’s ringing.

Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots and partners again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller.

Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

I've heard a lot of good things about this. I've read this short story, but I don't remember it super well so I guess I'll be surprised!
looks interesting
Creepy!
This looks like it has potential. A different kind of story. Hmm!
I like Ethan Hawke so much more now that he's older and having fun doing B-movie horror and being a character actor instead of an ~edgy leading man.
agreed on the character actor, he finally found his sweet spot in his roles
I thought he was great in Taking Lives with Angelina...I wish I could rewatch that movie again, not knowing the ending!
Same! Sinister was so fun, and I enjoyed him in Magnificent Seven.
He's a great actor...human being? not so much

Ahhh, I love the wild west of movies release in January-February. You truly never know what you're in for!
weird i'm just watching sinister now....i didn't think i'd seen it before but i must have. the creepy music is great in it.
Looks like shit lol Sinister had me until [Spoiler (click to open)]the ghost kids showed up and this looks like they took the worst part of that movie and based it around it.
ughhhh never get in the van kid... then there would be no movie

also why does he let the kid have that phone at all, or like glass bottles that could be a potential weapon
god masks with teeth like that freak me out so much. reminds me of that freaky ass clown from ahs
i used to think trailers over 2 minutes long were too long and now we have 3 min trailers? seriously?
I like this synopsis but I don't like horror.
I'm not really into horror movies either but that synopsis made me sad and intrigued
It could/should have been a beautiful gothic story.
Funny-- I guessed before the trailer showed that the 'sinister' director was involved that this movie resembled it a lot. Can't wait to see this in the theatresss cus sinister scared the ish outta me.
