Adele Claims She Can't Afford to Live in London

Poor Adele! She recently purchased three houses in Los Angeles for a total of $30 million, but London was simply too expensive for her!

According to her, “The kind of house I have in L.A. I could never afford in London. Ever.”

Her homes in L.A. total 18,000 square feet (5,486 meters) combined. She simply couldn't settle for 17,000 square feet in London!

Can you afford real estate in your city, ONTD?

Yes, I already own property you peasant
Maybe someday!
Nope, nope, nope

A tale of two L.A. real estate posts.
Don't even get me started.
I own my condo. I bought five years ago. It was at a price I could afford and I have been fortunate to have my parents support me by letting me live with them while I was saving up and for buying some of my furniture. My condo doesn't have parking, my bathroom and kitchen are both tiny and my windows are north facing so I don't get much natural light. But I'm in a great neighbourhood that's very walkable and have great transit connections.

The value of my condo has gone up probably $100,000.00 since I bought but so has everything else so I can't afford to upgrade. Real estate seems to be wild everywhere and it's just a stroke of luck that I got in when I did.
Man you're lucky, my condo has only gone up like $10k in five years. It seems like absolutely no one is buying condos right now, only houses.
everyone wants that yard space after the pandemic tbh
Nope my city is very expensive

One day I would love to own a cute small house and really make it my own
as a disabled person who us getting their SSI/SSD odds are high that I will never be in the position to even have enough money for a used car, much less a house of my own LOL

But this is why I cling TIGHTLY to my housing assistance help and do my best
i live in Taiwan yet i know i will never be able to buy a house in my lifetime. my parents are leaving me one of their places tho which is very nice of them

i get where Adele is coming from but girl.... you are one of the highest-earning artists of all time be quiet you no longer are relateable to us poors
I bought a house last year however I did have move towns/counties to do so.
Why does anyone need 3 houses? Does she have a schedule for each one and switches every other day? She could just get 1 house in London for the price of 3 in LA... like...
I think in a recent article she said she bought the one her ex husband lives in. He lives across the street so they can be close to each other for the kid.
awww... that's cute
sometimes celebrities buy several properties for the privacy and security

anyway yebba's dawn album in stores now
I have a house in Denver but it's kind of a shit pile lol. At least it's building equity though and the housing market here is fucking bonkers.
lol i live in NYC, i will never be able to buy here. ever.

I don’t see what’s so offensive about this. We all know Adele is rich. Why are we surprised when she speaks like a rich person? She’s not even bragging. She’s just stating a reality and her opinion. Making conversation. Would you rather she do some faux activism or talk about how she’s #relatable? Y’all make celebrities famous and stream the hell out of their stuff to give them coin and then get mad when they enjoy that coin? What is she supposed to do exactly? Wipe her ass with her dollar bills? Ofc she’s gonna spend it. Ofc she’s gonna think about spending it. Hate the game not the players.

I mean, for the price of a small/average-sized house in London, she got three big houses in LA.
Of course, she can afford to live in London but the cost of living is ridiculous there. No, seriously, it's insane, it makes LA looks cheap (for a rich person).
I saw a House Hunters International with this gay couple with two kids were relocating to London because of a job, and they wanted to rent a 3 bedroom house. They had a budget of $9000 a month and the person helping them found a house for 12k a month? I think they finally found a cute house in Notting Hill for 10k. London is insane price-wise.
I can't imagine ever being in a position where, even if I could afford to pay $10,000 a month in rent, I would feel secure enough to just give that money away. I'd end up still living in a $1000 a month apartment and saving the rest.

I live in NYC. I'll be lucky if I ever afford a decent condo.
