Pitchfork Does That Thing Where They Try To Correct Their Mistakes to Maintain Credibility



Pitchfork has gone back and re-reviewed 19 albums to rescore them. Some scores went up (way up) and others down.

According to Pitchfork:

These adjustments are born out of conversations we have all the time here on staff, much like the conversations you, our dear opinionated reader, have as well. They are hypothetical, which is to say, not canon, but rather a fun little diversion, a conversation-starter brought to you by the individual grievances of the Pitchfork staff. From slight adjustments to major reconsiderations to grave errors in judgment, enjoy a bit of our revisionist history.

A lot of these albums aren't even that old (one literally came out last year lmfao) which just kind of makes it feel like they're reacting more to public perception than having a justifiable reason for their ratings in the first place. Anyway...

A total of 13 out of the 19 albums went up in Pitchfork's valuation and include:

Wilco - Sky Blue (2007): From 5.2 to 8.5
Chief Keef - Back From The Dead (2012): From 7.9 to 9.1
Prince - Musicology (2004): From 5.8 to 7.8
Lana Del Rey - Born to Die (2012): From 5.5 to 7.8
Daft Punk - Discovery (2001): From 6.4 to 10
Liz Phair - Liz Phair (2003): From 0.0 to 6.0
The Strokes - Room On Fire (2003): From 8.0 to 9.2
Charli XCX - Vroom Vroom EP (2016): From 4.5 to 7.8
