ONTD ORIGINAL: 5 New Primetime TV Shows to Watch This Fall

It's officially mid September so it means PRIMETIME TV SEASON IS ALMOST HERE! I know many of you have abandoned network tv for the ✨ highbrow ✨ streaming/cable shows, but these shows can be mindless fun and give us a sense of nostalgia for simpler times.

In no particular order, here are 5 new network shows to watch out for this TV Season according to this tasteful OP!!

01. THE WONDER YEARS (22 minute dramedy)

NETWORK: ABC
PREMIERE DATE: September 22, 2021
PREMISE: The Wonder Years is set in the late 1960s and takes a nostalgic look at the Williamses, a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, through the point of view of imaginative 12-year-old Dean. Don Cheadle lends his voice as the narrator for the series as the adult counterpart of Dean.

02. OUR KIND OF PEOPLE (one hour drama)

NETWORK: FOX
PREMIERE DATE: September 21, 2021
PREMISE: Set in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, the series follows the journey of single mother Angela Vaughn (Yaya DaCosta) as she sets out to reclaim her family's name. But she soon discovers a dark secret about her own mother's past that will turn her world upside-down.

03. GHOSTS (22 minute comedy)

NETWORK: CBS
PREMIERE DATE: October 7, 2021
PREMISE: Samantha (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) believe that their dreams have come true in receiving a beautiful country house, only to find that it is falling apart and inhabited by a number of deceased previous residents.
It's giving one-and-done, but it could be a fun and easy watch that doesn't require much investment!

04. QUEENS (one hour dramedy)

NETWORK: ABC
PREMIERE DATE: October 19, 2021
PREMISE: Brianna, Jill, Valeria and Naomi once appeared as the "Nasty Bitches" in the 1990s. Together, the four of them not only turned the world of hip-hop upside down, but also achieved legendary status through their music. The four women are now in their forties, unworldly and largely estranged. By reuniting the four, there is now a chance to return to old fame and vigor. But will the former megastars, also known as Professor Sex, Butter Pecan, Da Thrill and Xplicit Lyrics, manage to achieve this ambitious goal?

05. THE BIG LEAP (one hour dramedy)

NETWORK: FOX
PREMIERE DATE: September 20, 2021.
PREMISE: The show revolves around a group of diverse underdogs from all different walks of life who compete to be part of a competition reality series that is putting on a modern, hip remake of Swan Lake. What they lack in the traditional dancer body type, they make up for with their edge, wit and desire to reimagine an iconic story to fit their own mold. Inspired by the UK series 'Big Ballet.'

Special Shout Out to new show: ABBOT ELEMENTARY
*Not included in the original list because it's a midseason entry scheduled for January 2022.

NETWORK: ABC
PREMISE: A group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life.
