Jenny Bui (Cardi B's Nail Artist) allegedly sued Youtuber over her bad review:

Jenny Bui has been a nail tech/artist for 24 years and came to fame for designing Cardi B's elaborate nail sets. She is known as Queen of Bling for her claims that she uses real Swarovski crystals in her nail sets/designs. She is now an ambassador with nail brand OPI, and has collabed with nail brand Apres.

British youtuber Millie T posted a video in December 2019 where she flew to NYC just to get her nails done by Bui. The vlog was not sponsored nor did Millie work with Jenny Bui behind the scenes, but Bui did allow her to film the appointment. Millie stated she paid $600 for the set of nails, which included a $100 discount, and that Bui told her the crystals were real Swarovski crystals. The video received over 2 million views.

Millie made a follow up video to show how long the set of nails lasted on her. She also felt she may have been scammed and that the gems used may not have been real Swarovski crystals as Bui had claimed. Millie went to a Swarovski store where the jeweler confirmed the gems on her nails were NOT Swarovski, and commented that they looked like plastic crystals. The jeweler let Millie film comparisons of the real Swarovski against her nail crystals:

Shortly after posting the follow up video, Millie pinned a comment to the video about Bui contacting her about the video and the Swarovski claims:

*OP note*: I've looked at the website and can't find any gems for sale that could be used for any sort of art but you can take a look for yourselves. It is possible since the video was posted in late 2019 that the site/items for sale have changed:
https://www.swarovski-professional.com/en-WORLD/

FFWD to this week. Millie shared a storytime where she reveals she was actually sued for 10K for the videos, in which Bui claimed was defamation, and had to pay around 5K for lawyer fees. Millie does NOT mention the person's name or link to the original videos, but shares blurred screenshots that show Bui reached out to her and provided her with the website she got the crystals/gems from, and asked Millie to share that information with her followers, and Millie did. Millie says even after this, Bui threatened her with lawyers, and that Swarovski would get involved and said they would create big problems for Millie.
Screenshot below:

Many commenters on the youtube videos also share the same sentiments that Bui is the person who sued her, and that Millie spoke about it briefly on a podcast.
Millie felt it was ridiculous that her honest review and checking for confirmation on the authenticity of the crystals was labeled defamation. She claims she never meant to give bad press to Bui, but wanted to do an honest look at the nails. Ultimately Millie reveals that she was found not guilty.

I feel like I see more and more Judge Judy eps about people suing people for bad reviews on facebook and whatever
How do you wipe yourself with nails like that?

How do you pick your nose? Those things would cause a nose bleed and you wouldn’t be about to do it thoroughly. .

(don’t come @ me about the nose picking. I know you do it).
seriously! i always end up cutting my thumb nails short because it makes texting too hard otherwise.

Lol she actually covers that in the video, timestamped:

Like you don't dig your bare hands into your ass when wiping without long nails anyway
Thanks for that 😂

I couldn’t imagine how she could properly grip the tissue.

Still wondering how she picks her nose though.

wait i thought people usually wrapped the tp around their hand, wasting tons of tp.
TBH i could still see poop getting on the thumb fingernail if it was a messy enough poo.
bidets for life tho.

oof @ her saying "swarvoski" the whole video & referring to them as diamonds
Yeah I don't get this whole long nails thing. It's so bad for your nails too. Maybe Cardi has help to do some basic shit, but I don't know how these other women who def don't have hired help perform basic tasks without them breaking/having other issues.
I hate long nails so much. I honestly think they're disgusting. Not even just super long nails, just a few millimeters beyond the nail bed. Something about it really repulses me lmao.

My nails are long and fake atm and I basically clean my nose when I'm in the shower or using a q-tip, so no satisfaction there. Whenever I get the nails off picking my nose is literally the first thing I do lol

I always wonder how mom bloggers take care of young children with super long nails. I have to keep mine trimmed otherwise I feel like I'm hurting them
more importantly, HOW DO YOU TICKLE YOUR FANCY WITH THOSE. there's a reason lesbians (usually) keep their nails short.

i don't have any problem performing personal hygiene tasks with long nails, the only thing that can be difficult imo is inserting a menstrual cup with long nails (tampons are fine though). people always go straight to wiping (or putting in contact lenses) but it's very easy. i don't put on contacts or wipe my ass by pointing my fingertip at myself lol

i have long natural nails (just got a color change today lmao) and you use your finger pads to hold toliet paper not your finger nails! you scratch your ass that way omg nooo

i never pick my nose (genuinely i will admit!!) so this wasnt a problem for me. i feel good about myself whenever i have them done so i like it lol
Forget that they're tacky as fuck...

Seriously, HOW do you function with nails like that (or really long nails in general)
Why is the toilet paper question always the first thing people ask??? Like, it’s truly hard to believe you wipe normally? Do you normally use your fingertips to wipe your ass lol?

Plus as long as your acrylics are actually made properly (or in cases real long nails, the nails are strong), they won’t break just Bc you went to the bathroom.

cardi b always looks so confused
i grew up doing competitive figure skating and lemme tell u those skating moms delivered the original season of this swarovski crystal drama
Doesn’t matter what’s on those nails, they look cheap nonetheless.
I don’t know how people with super duper long nails do… anything? I had basic press on nails for fun for like a few days and felt completely helpless
I don’t know how people with super duper long nails do… anything?

that's basically the point of long nails. it's a visual statement that says "i don't have to do any manual labor for myself"
Yes but you can’t even play with yourself and that alone makes them pointless.

One time at the airport this girl asked me to help her at the luggage cart station because her nails were too long to get her credit card out 😂
“not guilty” lmao girl this is a civil proceeding also obviously she didn’t go to trial if she only paid $5k to her lawyer
So the stuff the nail artists get is not real? I guess it would make sense to not use *real* gems on nails just cause thats a lot of money chipping and peeling off your nails! 😅😭

I guess you could say it is kinda misleading to say "real swarovski crystals" when its really a stretch but you save yourself because it is from the Swarovski label!

idk I think I'm still confused.
So I thought she was full of shit and was confused too. She sells the Swarovski crystals on her website with this info:

https://jenny-secret.com/collections/swarovski-crystals

Jenny is a certified Swarovski celebrity nail artist. She has since collaborated with Swarovski to create nail art for the Swarovski Book of Dreams Vol 3. All the stones sold by Jenny are genuine and include the Swarovski watermarking on the packaging for authenticity (Unless Specified).

Swarovski rhinestones are the best quality rhinestones or crystals in the market. They have been manufactured in Austria since 1895. These lead-free rhinestones or crystals can be applied with Jenny Secret Adhesive Set or Jenny Secret Crystal Gel using a tool like the Jenny Secret Crystal Pen.

You can buy sets of 360 for 25 bucks, or 1440 for about 65 bucks. I think basically its just Swarovski rhinestones, AKA cheap plastic made by Swarovski lol. There is no way she would put real diamonds on people for $600. Maybe on Cardi because she can afford it, but not just regular customers. I think its a little misleading to constantly label something as Swarovski, because people like this youtuber are legit thinking its real jewelry, when again it's just plastic bade by a legit jewel company.
Yeah see it is really misleading cause you *think* its the same stuff you would see on rings and necklaces when its most likely not (except for their super rich clients I guess?).

swarovski crystals aren't diamonds. they're crystal manufactured from quartz and sand.
But it is Swarovski, so the label really does fit. They are a legit company that produces crystal, glass, gemstone, and rhinestone products.

I do wonder if this description has been updated since the lawsuit, though. The wording is a bit odd…
My sister used to buy real Swarovski crystals to make her jewelry to sell. They are totally accessible if you buy in bulk from wholesalers
This is actually something a lot of the big reviewers have to be careful about (and frankly need lawyers). She didnt do all that much research and it sounds like she went to a random person in the store vs. a real expert.

I think its kinda petty to sue a YouTube reviewer but also think she could have harmed this lady's business based on very little info and profited from that so yeah I kinda get it.
I just watched the video and she refers to Swarovski by the wrong name and calls the crystals/rhinestones "diamonds" over & over so it's really obvious she has no idea what she's talking about. Then they compare totally different types of crystals... It's at best really sloppy to throw accusations based on that, and you're right that she'd have benefited from a lawyer.
oh dang. 5k for lawyer fees. But maybe she can afford it since she's flying across the ocean for nails

Anyway, i love really long nails on other people. I'm happy when mine grow longer (not rich people long though) about medium length? b/c after a certain length it hurts typing.
This is the type of drama I had no idea I needed until now.

This happens all the time with hair suppliers and hairdressers too. TokyoStylez and Arrogant Tae are letting the girls max out credit cards on lacefronts they made in their spare time with plastic Sensationnel bundles and leftover Indonesian scraps, and deleting the complaints on IG.

That and the seminars on how to make your own, are how a lot of the big hairstylists make their real money, off normal people. Because unless they have a steady client, like Rihanna and Yusef, their base is fickle and the income fluctuates. But everyone wants to look like a celebrity.

I fell for it once and let me tell you, don't do it unless you use your AmEx or a similar card that has amazing Return Protection, so you can get your money back.

This girl FLEW to NY to get her nails done by Cardi B's nail stylist because she assumed she would get the same nails as Cardi B. It doesn't work out that way but look at how much the accusation has hurt her business.

I downloaded the PDF from the website OP linked and all the crystals that are available are on it -- they're not shown on the site itself. I would imagine the flat-back kind would be used, possibly with foil on the back for more light refraction. Between the glue used to put them on and there's likely a topcoat applied to keep them on the nail, that may have given them a different appearance than crystals cut and set in jewelry. Just comparing how they look when used in two different ways wouldn't confirm without a doubt if they're real or not IMO.
Swarovski sells "crafty" crystals like the Create your Style line. They are not jewelry grade crystals.

Shes a fool for paying that for some tacky ass nails.

Even if its an obvious fake, jewlers dont say if something is real/fake. Thats why they have certificates and you need to mail shit in.

I have the necklace she's comparing her nails to. Got it on clearance! 🎉

Someone's getting sued.
I have so many of those hotfix ones.
LOL tacky and cheap looking nails she paid $600+ for. The whole asthetic of a rich person paying alot to look like a poor person trying to look rich.
